Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Here we go. It's
hour two. It is a Monday, five minutes away.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Matt Hasselbeck is joining us RG three in the last hour.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
Really wild Sunday.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
You know, on the show, we said last week, we say,
it doesn't look like much of a lineup for Sunday
and Sunday night, but strange things happen multiple overtime games,
and we do it every Monday. Now, I'll hold myself accountable.
Where Colin was right, where Colin was wrong, and here
(00:58):
we go where Colin was right. Well, I've been saying
for weeks the Eagles are tempting fate.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
It's not right.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
Saquon's falling off a cliff. You keep telling me Nick
Sirianni's a great coach, but the Philadelphia Eagles, something isn't working.
And to have twenty four straight unanswered points against a
rival is completely, absolutely unacceptable.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
It's not the end of the world.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
But don't tell me everything is fine and we'll just
keep figuring it out. Because I saw two years ago
a really good Eagles team circle the.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Drain where Colin was rawbed.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
I thought Chip Kelly was a solid choice, lots of
experience to be an offensive coordinator for Pete Carroll College
and pro. The run game absolutely non existent. Now, the
O line not very good, but the Raiders continue to
look backwards through the rearview mirror Chip and Pete Carroll
and Gino Smith and.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
I was wrong where Colin was right.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
I don't want to be mean, but the JJ McCarthy thing,
I don't know if he's even a backup. Three turnovers
in four yards in the second half. You could watch
how green Bay was coaching. You could tell look at
their game plan. Green Bay, it's like, we're just gonna
run it. We don't need to take any big swings here.
So the second half against Green Bay is I mean,
(02:22):
you can't just throw when you have all day and
you're leading. I mean, yesterday is NFL quarterback playing on
the road, trailing to a very good team and a
very good defense. Everybody kept telling me this is the
guy you got a draft and he was the only
quarterback in his class. I said, I don't see it.
(02:44):
I don't get it. I think I was.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
Right on that where Colin was raw four years in.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
I'm not sure what USC is, but when they play
Notre Dame or an Oregon, the defense is below average
and the special teams are a wreck.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
I mean, that's just the reality is.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
And the offense now feels like basically Malik Malachai Lemon,
McKay Lemon.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
It's a one man offense.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
They got a you know, they're down to walk ons
on the offensive line. They did not recruit Southern California
well enough the first three years. They spent a lot
of money on nil and not all of it. Well,
I don't know. I don't think they're close. When you
have twenty seven carries and run for fifty two yards
in the biggest game in a couple of years, that's
(03:30):
not close. Oregon was missing their top three receivers, didn't
seem to bother them.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
Ho's wrong Where Colin was right once.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
Again, I said, Pittsburgh, look at their schedule. Steelers will
get hot early four and one, and now they're two
and three in their last five games. One of my
picks of the week was anti Steeler, Go Chicago. They
no longer lead the division. I mean, Baltimore's not even
playing well and in a month they've flown past them.
They're not creative, very rarely, very infrequently on offense. They
(04:00):
spend a forts on defense, and their defense isn't very good.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
It's twenty eight right now.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
This defense with the Steelers is the worst in franchise history.
That's how and it's the most expensive again, so they're
spending all the money, they're paying all the attention to defense.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
It's still bad. Where Colin was right.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
Once again, the Bills are to Josh Allen Reliant. Buffalo
is now one in four unless Josh Allen has three touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
That's ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
I mean, at this point, I don't like their offensive line.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
They don't have a deep threat.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
Again, Josh is creating more turnovers because he's pressing, he's forcing.
Good news for them is their run game. Run games
are valuable as the weather gets cold, so I do
think they're sort of built to go on a little
bit of a mini streak here at the end of
the season. But I've been preaching this for years. They're
not clever offensively, and they're just simply too reliant.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
On Josh Allen. Where Colin was wrong.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Brent Venables has been a hit at Oklahoma and he's
gonna make the playoffs before Lincoln Riley. What I like
about Oklahoma. They look like an SEC team. USC still
doesn't feel like a Big ten team. They lack toughness. Oklahoma,
you would have never known they were in the Big twelve.
They're tough, they're physical, They're good enough at quarterback. I
(05:26):
always judge coaches on their side of the ball. Venables,
this is his first head coaching job. That defense is money.
I have watched it disassemble Bama and again this weekend.
They don't even need an offense. That defense is so good,
it's very sec.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
I was wrong.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
I just didn't think Venables was going to succeed as
quickly as Lincoln Riley.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
And I was wrong where Colin was right.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
Oh, Brandon Staley, apparently the Niners, the stories. He's on
his way out. I never understand. I don't understand Kyle Shanahan,
his insistence to pay every wide receiver in the building.
They paid Debo. They paid Brandon Ayuk. He's rarely been available.
I mean again, pay Trent Williams, pay Kittle, Hey, Christian McCaffrey,
(06:15):
you gotta pay pay bron. But they're getting burned on
this and this relationship is soured and I never understood
the financial commitment.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
He's talented.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
I'll never deny that with Brandon Ayuk, but I didn't
get the money thrown at it where Colin was right
John Moran, NBA reporters love small, poor shooting athletic guards.
This weekend, he's never going to grow up. Another embarrassing moment.
He's now a bench player, talking trash. Last two years,
(06:47):
the Grizzlies are better defensively and offensively when John doesn't play.
And he was yapping again, this time to Klay Thompson,
who said this afterwards.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
He's running his mouth for a long time, and it's
funny to run your mouth when you're on the bench.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
It's kind of the story of his career so far.
Just leaving us once more. You need that in the NBA.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
We need our best players to be out there, and
when you're a star, comes with a great responsibility and
I hate.
Speaker 4 (07:17):
To see that called the waste.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
There is more to being a star in the NBA
than having hops. It's about leadership and commitment and dedication
and galvanizing egos. John's never had that, Colin Wright, Colin wrong,
and now Matt Haflebeck is joining us off a weird
wild Sunday. On paper, it didn't look like much, but
(07:42):
it was nuts. I said this about Dallas. You know,
when Schodenheimer got hired, I thought, you know, they've succeeded
with Parcels and Jimmy Johnson. I don't know if it's
a strong choice, but there is something to be said
about I watched that offense, and some of it's just
the acquisition of George Pickens. But that's a joy, fun
aggressive they're running. They haven't run the ball, Matt in years.
(08:05):
Do I give Schottenheimer credit?
Speaker 2 (08:07):
Is it Dak?
Speaker 1 (08:07):
I mean, I watch this offense. It feels like it
has more life today than it's had in years. Who
gets the credit in Dallas?
Speaker 5 (08:16):
Well, there's a lot of credit to go go go
around here. I think specifically talking about Schottenheimer though, just
the post game that reminded me of Pete Carroll post
game and remember shot he was Pete Carroll's offensive coordinator
for a little bit, so you have the continuity of
the offense.
Speaker 6 (08:33):
He's Dak's guy.
Speaker 5 (08:34):
He was in the quarterback room with Dak, you know,
for the last few years, so that doesn't change.
Speaker 6 (08:38):
So Dak, I feel like.
Speaker 5 (08:39):
It's taking a much bigger ownership role, of the leadership
role on this field, So on the field and also
on the sidelines, I'm sure off the field. And then
this team has been galvanized through unfortunately through some tragedy
this year, where you know, sometimes that can bring a
team together and all the bs and all the stuff
that you typically deal with in an NFL season of
(09:00):
fades away, like and that's not that important.
Speaker 6 (09:02):
What is important. Let's be here for each other.
Speaker 5 (09:04):
Let's cut it loose, let's have fun, Let's let's treat
every day like it's a blessing. And then you see
some of that like positivity out of Schottenheimer and the
coaching staff, the players, and it was fun to watch.
It was an incredible comeback and I think it's one
that'll have a huge impact on playoff implications this year.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
So you know, it's interesting, Man, I understand this, and
I've always kind of defended teams who have a bad
second half.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
You jump off to a huge.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
Lead and then all of a sudden, you know, you
go into the locker room and you're sitting there for
fifteen minutes and you lead by a couple of touchdowns.
I saw it with Seattle and Tennessee yesterday. It's just
hard to ignite the energy and the juice. But it
was only twenty one to seven, twenty four straight points
against Philadelphia.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
Is that just they lost their edge or were their scheme?
Speaker 1 (09:49):
I mean, punt punt, punt, punt punt. I can point
fingers and blame. You've probably been into locker rooms where
you can't reignite the fire.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
What did you see with Philly?
Speaker 5 (09:59):
I don't I don't know that it's reignite the fire.
I think they just failed to be the more physical team.
Philly got bullied. You know this from when I was
growing up Dallas. Philly was like, this is the most
physical team wins this game.
Speaker 6 (10:11):
It's a rivalry game.
Speaker 5 (10:12):
Like here we go and Dallas just looked like the
more physical team up front. And then when you're up
twenty one nothing, that's the situation where.
Speaker 6 (10:20):
Like, hey, you know that we're going to run it.
We're going to run it anyway.
Speaker 5 (10:23):
Philly, honestly, by their own decision, didn't run the football.
Speaker 6 (10:27):
And it wasn't like it was a stacked box. It
was too high, it was too safety deep.
Speaker 5 (10:32):
Half the time, it was not just no Saquon, no
running game, no physicality. It just it was shocking. It
was really shocking. It was fun to watch if you're
rooting for Dallas.
Speaker 6 (10:43):
It was exciting. They were a team playing like, hey,
let's got it. Loose is a huge game.
Speaker 5 (10:47):
Philly didn't play that way in the second half. And
the identity piece for me is the weird thing. And
it's hard like when I was a quarterback and when
the coach will call play and this is a bread
and butter play for us, I know it's going to
get us like four or five yards and it's getting
one or two. And it's a little bit like frustrating
that you lose your confidence as a player. You might
lose your confidence as a play caller. I think they'll
(11:09):
have a chance to get it, get right, but they're there.
They got to be scratching their head right now.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
So and this is uh.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
I remember the Brady team in Tampa they had they
were seven and five and they take a buy and
they come out of it, and you're like, oh, okay, okay,
here we go. So you gotta be careful. Everybody looks
good in September and October. The rosters are healthy, the
weather's great. This is now rosters. I mean Bears yesterday,
(11:35):
I had no linebackers, and so I watched Kansas City
yesterday and I'm like, hey, maybe this is the impetus.
Maybe this is the game they're down twenty to nine.
Or when you watch Kansas City, do you see a
team where Chris Jones isn't quite as dominant, Travis Kelsey
getting older? Where are you? I mean, cause a little
(11:56):
bit I said this earlier. I watched Manny pakiaw win
a fight at forty. There's still a punch, there's still
something there, but I it doesn't quite feel like it's
just it doesn't feel like they've got that jet fuel,
that second or third gear. How do you view an
older team still got to punch? They don't feel like
(12:17):
a multiple playoff winning team to me.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
They just don't do they to you?
Speaker 5 (12:22):
Well, when you watch that game yesterday, you know the
Colts playing the Chiefs. You gotta put them away because
it is Patrick Mahomes. They do have speed, they do
have the best play caller of our generation and Andy Reid.
They do have guys on defense that can that can
wreck a game. So you got to put them away.
And that's what the Colts did not do, and you
got to learn how to do that. It's ah, it
is a thing like I would agree, like you don't
(12:44):
fear the Chiefs the way that you once feared them.
Speaker 6 (12:47):
That's fair.
Speaker 5 (12:48):
The teams around them are clearly better than they have
been in the past. So you know, is this a
team that makes the playoffs? I think they will, but
they might not make that. They might not even make
the playoffs. I mean, they're they're an inch away from
losing that game yesterday and really having a tough road.
I still think that they've got enough cachet or money
in the bank, reputation what they've done to write them off.
(13:10):
So the thing for them is, though, they're going to
have to go on the road and be road warriors
in playoffs.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
So, listen, football has changed in my life. Offensive football quarterbacks.
Now people draft small quarterbacks and quarterbacks that are often
really really athletic that may have not even played quarterback
twenty thirty years ago. So I don't need every quarterback
to be Drew Brees sixty nine seventy percent completion like
(13:40):
Drake May. That feels like historically unique talent, like it
just this early that much. So I watched Caleb and
I'm like, yeah, yeah, he misses some stuff, but then
I see that he's coachable. He doesn't take sacks. I've
argued for years, he's never thrown picks. He's durable as heck.
Maybe this just is what he is. You're getting he's
(14:03):
a cleanup hitter. He's not gonna bat three twenty. It's
not gonna be pretty. But man, does he have some
Cam Newton farm ish qualities to him? Or are you
still kind of waiting for to clean up some of
the stuff? Where are you today with him?
Speaker 2 (14:21):
Yeah? What'd you say?
Speaker 6 (14:22):
He's a cleanup hitter? No? I think he's more of
a highlight maker.
Speaker 5 (14:25):
Like he'll have a few plays where you're like, man,
that was incredible. Guy comes off the edge, you know,
the blitz.
Speaker 6 (14:32):
He doesn't see it till late, then he sees it.
Speaker 5 (14:34):
Then he makes a little whirlybird runs around and creates
a first down, and like, man, that was a highlight
reel play.
Speaker 6 (14:40):
I guess for me where I would just say.
Speaker 5 (14:42):
To him, just see the guy coming and just throw
your hot and then you know it's first down and
you're moving on. You don't have to be a hero,
you don't have to put the cape on. You have
a good team, you have a great offense. But no,
I think he deserves his credit. Like he has done
everything that we said that he needed to work on
last year.
Speaker 6 (15:01):
He is doing it.
Speaker 5 (15:02):
He is as sending, he is improving, He's doing all
those things. Not taking sacks is probably number one. Not
turning the ball over. He does a good job with that.
Speaker 6 (15:11):
I guess where.
Speaker 5 (15:12):
I'm not like putting him in the Hall of Fame
and fitting him for a gold jacket like you want
to do. I just don't think this Bears team has
played anybody quite yet. Now we will get to know
who this Bears team is because the five of their
next six games or whatever are against teams that are
way better than the teams that they beat.
Speaker 6 (15:28):
They haven't beat great teams. But I'm not gonna hold
that against him.
Speaker 5 (15:31):
He's a young player with a ton of talent who's
improved vastly from last year. I just I'm not putting
him in that same rare air yet as say a
Drake Man. I could be wrong, and I think this
is Ben Johnson has proven he is a great coach
and he is the guy if someone can take him
to that next level, I think Ben Johnson would be
the guy.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
Okay, before I get to shador.
Speaker 1 (15:55):
Matt Stafford speaking of gold Jackets, Yes, I don't think
I've I mean Matt's I've always argued that if Matt
Stafford wins a second super Bowl, you're gonna look at
him and Aaron Rodgers. It's gonna be a lot harder
to say who was all time better if he gets
to a second super Bowl Because he was better early,
he was better in high school, in college, he's better late.
(16:17):
He is on now a heater of all heaters. I mean,
I always love Matt, but he could be reckless. He's
got a big arm. But I mean he didn't get
fooled anymore.
Speaker 7 (16:30):
Is it scheme?
Speaker 2 (16:32):
Is it growth? Is it Davante?
Speaker 1 (16:34):
I mean, Matt, this is like Michael Jordan against the Blazers.
He's putting his hands up like it's like, I don't know,
I've never seen him play at this level.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
Describe why he is so hot.
Speaker 5 (16:49):
It's the fountain of youth. It reminds me of Tom Brady.
As this guy gets older, he gets better. Whatever he
did in that like immortal chamber there that they brought
to training to listen. The whole offseason we were talking
about training camp. We were talking about his bad back.
He can't even practice. He went out there trying to,
you know, run around and was like, oh man, this
does not look good. He's thirty seven years old. It
(17:10):
does not look good.
Speaker 6 (17:12):
Whatever he did, whatever he is doing.
Speaker 5 (17:14):
Last night in postgame he said, I would like to
thank the athletic trainers and all the people that have
helped me get back from this back injury. This is
the best football that he has played. This is the
best he has looked. He looks younger, he looks like
he's aging in reverse. His chemistry with DeVante is, you know, ridiculous.
Inside the five yard line, I've not seen any receiver
have more one or two yard touchdown passes. When the
(17:38):
defense knows it's coming, it's either a fade or a slant.
You know it's coming and what do they do? They
throw a fade or a slant for a touchdown. It's awesome.
It reminds me of when like Randy Moss was inside
the five. It's like you knew what was going to
happen and it was inevitable. That's kind of what those
two guys have been like inside the five. But no,
it's unexplainable. I mean literally, I did not think he
(17:59):
was and make it through the season with the injury. Now,
this is the youngest and freshest and best. I mean
even last night on the broadcast, Chris Collinsworth is saying, like, oh,
you see this guy. He's got he's like chiseled, he's
got abs. You know, we've been seeing him for years,
all this all whatever he's doing is working.
Speaker 6 (18:15):
Yeah, it's working. He looks amazing.
Speaker 1 (18:17):
Okay, So I first of all, I may be a
little high on my supply with Kleb, but I look
at Shador and I'm like, it's like a holiday flame.
You hang out for six weeks and then eventually Cleveland's
going to draft a quarterback and have a thirty year marriage.
Speaker 2 (18:31):
With It's fun. I enjoyed watching it.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
I don't think he has great size or athletic ability
or a huge arm, But there is a looseness to him,
like he's not intimidated by it. His confidence doesn't ever flow.
He's like, hey, I was born for this, let's go play.
That is something. I mean, he's like, you know, it
could have easily. I never he's never tight. He makes mistakes.
(18:54):
I don't love all his judgment. He's never tight. And
I see quarterbacks like one in Minnesota that I feel
like he's lost his confidence.
Speaker 2 (19:03):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
I just I watched it and I had a good time.
Should I take anything more? That's that was my take.
That was fun watch. Where did it land for you?
Speaker 5 (19:11):
I mean, he's got an it factor, There's no doubt
about it. You know, much like Caleb, He's got an
it factor.
Speaker 6 (19:16):
He's a he's a highlight reel type guy. I mean,
Cleveland's a team that's starving for great quarterback play. They
really are.
Speaker 5 (19:22):
They're looking for someone to step up and take the job.
And it doesn't matter if this is a team that's
really led by the defense in the crazy, unbelievable year
that Miles Garrett is having, they're looking for someone on
offense to believe in and I think he gives them that.
At the same time, if you watch the entire game,
like you're showing now his first touchdown pass, I mean
(19:42):
it's a swing pass that you're great perimeter blocking and
a great run by the running back. You should never
apologize for those as a quarterback because it evens out.
But at the same time, like, let's let's pump the
brakes a little bit on on saying like, hey, this
is absolutely the guy. I would say, this should take
advantage of your opportunity.
Speaker 6 (20:02):
That's exactly what it is.
Speaker 5 (20:04):
And I would lose the excuses that you're already making,
like oh, I haven't had a full off season as
a starter. I've only had one week to prepare as
the starter. Dude, get rid of that, man, Just get
rid of that.
Speaker 6 (20:15):
Just go out and ball and play and do what
you did yesterday.
Speaker 5 (20:19):
And as your team's winning games, you're developing as a
young quarterback. That's what you should do. And he did
for the most part. But I would agree, it's a
lot of fun to watch him rooting for him. But
I just I guess I'm a little bit cautious too,
just like you are.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
I have not ordered a gold jacket for Caleb. I've
measured him for.
Speaker 5 (20:38):
It, Yes you have, and you did that when he
was in college. Actually, so I think you're just still
hedging your bet because hey man, I already said it
in college.
Speaker 6 (20:48):
So I just I'll just keep it rolling. Just keep
it rolling.
Speaker 1 (20:51):
Great senior, and happy Thanksgiving to your amazing family.
Speaker 5 (20:55):
Great great football and Thanksgiving and on Friday, so looking
forward to that.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
Matt Hasselbeck has been so good for us. I love
having him on the show.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
It was Yeah, I mean the Chador thing, I just
it's it reminds me a little bit of the t
bow stuff. I'll talk about that later. But the difference
is I think Shador. I mean, if Gino can start,
Shador can start you. I I it's fine, but it's fun,
like if you're a bad team, at least be fun
to watch, like Cleveland was fun.
Speaker 7 (21:21):
Yesterday, Colin.
Speaker 4 (21:22):
Don't you think that essentially, the Browns don't know who
their quarterback is next year, so just play Shador. Start
him against the Niners. Find out what you got. You
saw Dylan Gabriel, he looks like a solid backup in
the NFL. Yes, you could be Chase Daniel. That's try
to fix in the league for ten years comes in occasionally.
I don't know if Schador is the guy.
Speaker 7 (21:40):
I don't think he is, but I think we got
to find out.
Speaker 4 (21:43):
Right Stefanski out here saying, well, we don't know who
the quarterback is next week. I don't think that's great
messaging because I will say this and hasweback hit it.
The team really likes Shador, Yeah, you see the sideline celebrations, completions.
Speaker 7 (21:56):
So I think you gotta start him against him.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
I think I I I think there's a likability to him.
He is.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
He's so casual, you know, like something like Peyton Manning
was a teeth clencher. Well, he was really intense, which
which is great. That's why Peyton was great. He was
so committed. I mean, Schadour's the opposite. He's like, eh,
I'm built for this, and you know I found it
two and eight versus two and eight, and I couldn't
take my eyes off.
Speaker 4 (22:21):
Let's see if he's built for a Robert solid defense.
By the way, they can get no pressure on quarterbacks,
that's right, So he could have a clean pocket to
operate and we'll see.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
I already took Cleveland next week.
Speaker 7 (22:30):
Oh, they are at home and the line is coming
down a bit.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
That was my second favorite bet of the week with
Chad at home against the Niners. All Right, it's gonna
be cloudy. See you know, Brock pretty well be great.
Speaker 2 (22:43):

Speaker 1 (23:29):
So much good football, Green Bay Detroit on Fox Thanksgiving Day,
Kansas City and Dallas Friday Bears and Eagles. I mean, hey,
this weekend, we got a great Sunday and it didn't
look good on paper Thanksgiving on. I mean, let's be honest,
some of these games are gonna get thirty five to
(23:49):
forty million people, maybe fifty These numbers are going to
be absolutely insane.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
Can't wait, Jamack with a news Turn on the news.
This is the herd Line News.
Speaker 4 (24:02):
Speaking of insane numbers. Jackson Smith Najigba Colin. This guy
is putting on a clinic in Seattle. He has now
set the record for Seattle Seahawks receiving yards in a
season and he's still only twelve games in. I mean,
what are performance? I mean, he torched the Titans. Everybody
knew that was gonna happen. Listen, JSN is on another
(24:24):
level right now. I think we've established he's having the
best season of any receiver in the league right now.
He's unguardable. The Titans, by the way, tried to match
him up with a safety on some deep routes, Like
what are we doing? Anyway, here's JSN talking about absolutely
frying this season.
Speaker 6 (24:39):
So it means a lot.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
You know, this organization, a great organization and great receivers
have you know, came through here. So honestly, I look
at it as it as a team Award honestly because
you know, without Sam and without the protection, without sheet
and coop, you know, you know this doesn't happen. And
you so I'm grateful. I'm thankful, blessed for my team,
(25:02):
blessed be a Seahawk.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
I mean, how likable of that? I mean, how how
can you not love that guy?
Speaker 4 (25:08):
Oh? I did not know that was his style. I
had to only see the video. Now did you know that?
So I had to look him up based on the outfit.
Where do you think he's from?
Speaker 2 (25:18):
Texas? Yes?
Speaker 7 (25:19):
Texas.
Speaker 4 (25:19):
Now Nakadocius is the name of the town. And I'm like,
I know that Clint Dempsey, the former soccer star USA
Soccer Star, is from Nakadocius. Listen, I don't know how
he ended up at Ohio State from Texas. How does
he get out of the state? But this guy looks
like such a fine column. Look at the numbers.
Speaker 1 (25:35):
Well, what it tells you is when they let go
a DK Metcalf, everybody they knew they get the practice stuff.
We don't again, Ohio State, when I grew up, was
a linebacker factory. Ohio State is I don't think I've
ever seen a university that delivers, and they got They've
got him lined up for years to come that delivers.
Give Ohio State credit. They're current, They're not living in
(25:57):
a linebacker you. They are deliver. These kids that come
out are just sensational. I grew up with Steve Largen,
who I thought is the most underrated professional athlete I
ever saw the fact that he's going to end up
with potentially twenty one hundred yards in the season. Now
it is more of a passing league, but I and
(26:18):
the eir thing that helps him. The Seahawks upgraded their
own line, so Donald has more time, and Donald loves
to throw the ball deep. Sam loves to show his
arm off. So he is just a remarkable the route tree,
the hands, the deep threat. He is a complete and
total five tool receiver.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
He does everything well.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
I mean, now, I know Ohio State University has a
pretty big game this week, I think right against Michigan.
I got a buddy who went to Ohio State. He
swears that their wide receiver, one of their wide receivers,
not Jare Mainsmith, is dinged up, so heate Tate is
digged up, so he's a little concerned about the game. Basically,
if you're coming out of Ohio State, you got a
(26:58):
draft the guy high right, just based on.
Speaker 1 (27:01):
The Ohio State between the linebacker, the corner, the edge rusher. Hey,
the edge rusher, they got a linebacker. Ohio State probably
has five of the top twenty four twenty three players
in the draft. So this this Ohio State team, I'll
just say it. They're not losing the Michigan. You sure
(27:22):
they are not losing the Michigan And they're going to
be in a bad mood and if they can rub
it in, they will thirty thirteen Buckeyes.
Speaker 7 (27:30):
Okay, well it's in Monday. Come on, pace yourself, Broteaz.
Speaker 4 (27:34):
All right, let's go to the next story, and that
is uh oh, this is not pretty. The obviously the Raiders,
they're down bad right now.
Speaker 7 (27:41):
Wolf. Remember former Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce.
Speaker 4 (27:46):
He was very complimentary of Shadure Sanders ahead of his
first start, and ap was coaching the Raiders last year.
Speaker 7 (27:52):
Listen to what Pierce said about Shaduur Sanders.
Speaker 8 (27:56):
He was one of our top choices. If I'll just
stay there, there's no way he goes to fit. I'm
making that choice and the decision that we're drafted. Mark
Davis was on board with that. Our our organization was
on board. We believed in what we saw with shador
It saw them obviously with the situation.
Speaker 6 (28:11):
I deal with the quarterbacks. But one thing about Sorda.
Speaker 8 (28:14):
I think we see all the glints, the glamour, you know,
hitting the watch and what time it is and all
that is.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
He's born for this, he is his.
Speaker 8 (28:23):
Pedigree is that for moments of this magnitude.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
Yeah, I will say this.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
His size is fine, his arm is fine, his movement's fine.
There's no reason why he can't start in the NFL.
Do I think he is upper crutch, No, but I
the bottom line is he's not small. He moves good enough,
He's got a good enough arm, he is accurate even
when he moves. There's there's I mean again, it's early,
(28:54):
but I think he has enough traits. I mean, Dylan
Gabriel is too small to be starting quarterback. I mean
Kyler Maurice, too inconsistent, Trevor Lawrence throws too many bad picks.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
Schadur's got something.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
There's something in the makeup of his personality that he
doesn't get.
Speaker 7 (29:13):
All right, Okay, let's pump the brakes a little.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
I know it.
Speaker 7 (29:16):
You're excited.
Speaker 4 (29:17):
It's thanksgiving to him out look at this you look
at the swing pass downs are naming Chadeur Sanders as
their starting quarterback.
Speaker 2 (29:26):
According to chefte.
Speaker 4 (29:28):
Yeah, obviously we called that last hour. He has to
start against Samfrey or you'll lose the locker room and
they'll run off Stefanski. I do want to say this,
so let's do the great I did this on my podcast.
I would grade Chedure. I'm not comparing him to anybody.
Just what I saw yesterday.
Speaker 7 (29:43):
I gave him a B.
Speaker 4 (29:45):
You know, on the A to F scale, Okay, A
would have been like three hundred yards.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
I thought he was a good, solid B.
Speaker 7 (29:51):
Right, So I mean people going overboard. He's the man.
He could be a starter.
Speaker 4 (29:56):
We need to see way more than this Colin Okay,
like to throw on the on to bond the deep one.
Speaker 7 (30:01):
That was like okay, but the Jerry Judy stuff was
wide open. Come on, let's hey.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
My second best bet of the weekend is Cleveland plus
the points.
Speaker 2 (30:10):
And I don't love Schanor.
Speaker 4 (30:11):
But taking a rookie quarterback against Robert Salah's defense.
Speaker 1 (30:15):
Yeah, Rock Perdy and it's cloudy. I'll take the browns.
Speaker 4 (30:19):
Okay, Perdy, Perdy's gonna party and a company. They're hearing
all this noise from you. Okay, they know that you're
not a fan of Brock It's fine, yeah, Okay. Final story, Colin,
let's go to college football. Saturday was not great. I
was at a volleyball tournament all day, but apparently USC
fought hard against Oregon.
Speaker 7 (30:39):
Sorry Oregon.
Speaker 4 (30:40):
Oregon did get the cover nicely done afterward. Dan Lanning
was probably the highlight of the college football weekend. Took
a couple jabs at other conferences easy, sorry, taking their
week off and playing jokers.
Speaker 9 (30:56):
This conference is a really good conferences competitive, right. We
didn't play Chattanooga State today, right like some other places. Right,
we competed, so you know that. Being said, it's tough
playing nine conference games. It's tough playing in this league,
and we got to take advantage playing a good team
today and attacking that Listen.
Speaker 1 (31:14):
Oregon was missing its top three receivers, did not play
a clean game. That was a really choppy game, and
they dominated. Sorry, I mean I Oregon.
Speaker 2 (31:24):
He got going now.
Speaker 1 (31:25):
That was the best team in the country. Is Ohio
State after that. Honestly, I'm like in A Oklahoma, Georgia, Oregon,
A and M's overrated. I think A and M's overrated.
I think Oregon's the fourth or fifth. I think Oregon
can play with anybody except Ohio State.
Speaker 4 (31:42):
Yeah, there's probably six or seven uh huh teams in
the mix after Ohio State. I do want to say
about Dan Lanning, the more I hear from this guy.
You know, we're talking about it's a week coaching prospect
if you're an NFL team. Honestly, I'm going I'm going
Marcus Freeman and Dan Lanning. I'm at least putting in
a call. They're not leaving, I know, but I think
those guys from the sound, the vibes, everything about.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
That, I don't understand. Why would you leave Oregon?
Speaker 7 (32:06):
Well, we'll see.
Speaker 6 (32:07):
I don't know what.
Speaker 7 (32:08):
I don't know what he's like. Get him on the show.
Let's ask him what he's like.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
I've had him on the show. Why would you leave Oregon?
Speaker 4 (32:14):
Is his What if his wife is kind of over
the Northwest and wants to or sorry the yeah Northwest
and wants.
Speaker 7 (32:19):
To go somewhere else.
Speaker 4 (32:20):
What if they want to expect her family's from, so
we don't know what. Why do you want to leave
Los Angeles?
Speaker 1 (32:25):
Hey, honey, twelve and a half million a year, he said, Okay,
if we stay here, I think the answer is yes,
that's just me, that's crazy me.
Speaker 4 (32:34):
Well, I mean old missus getting old missus probably backing
up twelve and a half millions.
Speaker 1 (32:38):
Given Bill Knight, O'll buy him a three million dollar
home uh in Bend, Oregon on the river, take care
of his family, private jets and recruiting, there's no reason
to leave Oregon.
Speaker 4 (32:48):
I go with billionaires in the NFL. I think those
billionaires have private jets as well.
Speaker 7 (32:53):
I'm not sure though, And.
Speaker 2 (32:54):
They're all crazy. Phil Knight's not crazy.
Speaker 7 (32:56):
That's a fair point, very fair point.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
Yeah, Phil's not crazy. Thirty percent of the nfwners are crazy.
The other seventy percent are a bad loss away from
being crazy.
Speaker 4 (33:04):
So basically, would you agree, though, if you are giants,
you gotta at least call Dan Lanning and Marcus Freeman.
Speaker 7 (33:10):
Yeah, they'll say no, but I want to at least.
Speaker 4 (33:11):
Find out what they're about, because those guys are better
than any NFL assistance that I'm seeing out there right now.
Speaker 2 (33:16):
Yeah, Jmack with the news. Well that's the news, and
thanks for stopping by the heard Line News.
Speaker 1 (33:23):
I mean, don't try to get happier than happy. Dan
Lanning's winning games. They can win a national championship. This
race to be happier than happy? Well, what about Lane Kiffin?
Oregon's a way better job than Old Miss. Oregon's a
Oregon's the best job on the West coast. Well, what
about Los Angeles? I mean it's I don't know, I've.
Speaker 2 (33:43):
Watched the last ten years.
Speaker 1 (33:45):
They keep get running out of coaches. Lane Kiffin had
an easier time winning at Old Miss than the USC.
All I know is Oregon's the best job in the
West Coast and it has been for a decade. So
and well Phil Knight's money, Well, that's the world we
live in. Phil Knight's vision, the facilities, the fans, it's
the loudest West Coast stadium.
Speaker 6 (34:07):
Leave it.
Speaker 1 (34:07):
Yeah, I mean yeah, if Andy Reid retired, ring ring,
it's the Hunt family. We got this quarterback name Mahomes.
Would you like to coach us? Okay, I'll go bed.
Speaker 7 (34:16):
Cola and I just looked it up.
Speaker 2 (34:17):
You're right.
Speaker 4 (34:18):
Dan Lanning is from Kansas City, Missouri. Yeah, I went
to college in Missouri. Yes, you take that's your job.
Speaker 7 (34:24):
That's the job.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
Yeah, yeah, that one i'd take.
Speaker 7 (34:26):
Coach Mahomes, I'm not going, no go down to Auburn.
Speaker 4 (34:32):
Stop.
Speaker 2 (34:33):
It's the Herd. Be sure to catch live editions of
The Herd weekdays in neon eastern nin am Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio FS one and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 7 (34:45):
The greatest rivalry in sports is here.
Speaker 4 (34:49):
Top rank defending national champion in Ohio State heads to
the Big House looking at Staph Michigan's four game.
Speaker 7 (34:55):
Win streak in the game.
Speaker 4 (34:58):
It all starts at nine am and with a special
three hour Big noon kickoffs live for man Arbor. Then
it's Michigan Ohio State at noon only on Fox Listen.
I know it's been a nice run for Michigan that
ends this weekend like Ohio State. I mean, I'm looking
at this too deep rvel Reees, Caleb Downs, tadat wide receiver.
Speaker 1 (35:23):
They have an absolute identity. The quarterback doesn't make mistakes,
is I mean? Underwood is a remarkable freshman quarterback for Michigan,
and he'll make some plays with his feet. I like
Marsha on the perimeter. I actually like Michigan receivers more
than I have in the last several years. Ohio State's
got an identity, they got a chip on their shoulder.
They're ticked off from last year route Ohio State. So
(35:47):
you know it's I think the pregame show may end
up being better than the game.
Speaker 6 (35:53):
That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (35:54):
And I think this Ohio State team, and you know,
Ohio State doesn't like me. They think I'm a negative
because I would hire Connor Stallions today. I think he's
the genius with all that iPhone scouting stuff is brilliant.
But this Ohio State team defensively dudes everywhere NFL windows
like that. They are just that defense. That's one of
(36:19):
the best defenses I've seen. That defense gives doesn't let
you breathe. So and now one thing that travels it
is not offense. I've seen great offenses go on the road.
When SAVING was at Bama, that defense traveled. Bama go
on the road and beat like a narket a bikers rally.
Speaker 2 (36:36):
Babe, Okay, they would just roll over you.
Speaker 1 (36:39):
Because that's when Bama ran the ball and Bama played defense.
I see offenses go on the road and shrivel up.
That Ohio State defense is a handful, and I mean
they just play with an intensity and an awareness. They're
incredibly coaches and Michigan's got a freshman quarterback.
Speaker 4 (36:57):
Colin and Michigan staffer wants me to remind you last
year Ohio State was ranked second, playing at home.
Speaker 1 (37:04):
Yeah, lost and had lost to Oregon earlier.
Speaker 2 (37:08):
Ohio State's running the table.
Speaker 7 (37:10):
I'm not. This is just me conveying information.
Speaker 2 (37:13):
I'm now whatever. Okay, here's the airth thing.
Speaker 1 (37:17):
So you gotta be careful about this, don't when any
time you're judging a quarterback in college to the NFL.
One of the reasons I like mendozat Indiana is because
he doesn't have the best online He is caring good players. Okay,
so when I watched Mahomes in college, or Josh Allen
(37:39):
or Big Ben or Aaron Rodgers at Cal, they were
caring average personnel. Okay, if you're just managing a great team,
like JJ McCarthy at Michigan, he was managing the team.
They played Penn State on the road. He didn't throw
a pass in the second half, so don't expect him
(38:00):
to be what he wasn't in college. I've always said,
don't you think it's weird? Shouldn't all Ohio State, Alabama,
Oklahoma quarterbacks crush?
Speaker 2 (38:09):
They're five star, they go to college. It's linear. No,
it's not.
Speaker 1 (38:12):
Look at all these quarterbacks that are great in the NFL,
Aaron Rodgers, Cow Philip Rivers, NC State, Big Ben Miami
of Ohio. You ever noticed this? Where are all Texas
quarterbacks great? Because that's not a real life Vince Young
was surrounded by five star quarterbacks, Matt Liner, five star
left tackles, five star running backs. If you look at
(38:35):
the college quarterbacks that overwhelmingly crush in the NFL, go
back to the last fifty years. John Elway Stanford was
no good. He had to carry him. John Elway had
to carry st Andrew Luck. He wasn't surrounded by five
star guys at Stanford. You start looking around, I mean
Daniel Jones, say what you want, Duke Okay, So I
(38:57):
mean JJ McCarthy managed a loaded, stacked team with Jim Harbaugh.
Speaker 2 (39:03):
That's not the NFL.
Speaker 1 (39:04):
Now you're asking him, hey, step up to the plate,
throw thirty times.
Speaker 2 (39:07):
You're not bill for it.
Speaker 1 (39:08):
That's not what he is That's why I said I've
never seen it. Now you can say, well, Joe Burrow.
Joe Burrow his junior year, Remember he transferred from the
Buckeye his junior year. Eh, and then he developed by
his last year. But I would say I love Ed Orgeron,
but Ed's not viewed as a schematic guru. He did
(39:29):
have to do some carrion that coaching staff was in trouble.
If Joe Burrow didn't win and Joe Burrow's schedule was unbelieved,
that's the hardest. That's the best team I've ever seen.
I mean every game was big in the SEC. SEC
was dominating college football, and Burrow was just carrying them
to late game wins. So I mean, twenty twenty three,
Michigan faced Penn State. They ran the ball thirty two
(39:51):
straight times. JJ McCarthy, I'm not crushing the kid.
Speaker 2 (39:56):
He threw eight times.
Speaker 1 (39:57):
So just don't expect people, if they have a certain
college life, to go into the real world in the
NFL and then demand they be something they've never proven
to be. He was a great manager of a stacked offense.
He was terrific. That was a great team. Deserve the Natty.
(40:19):
I rooted for him. It was a great story. But
in the NFL is a different ballget everybody said, oh,
Ty Simpson, they got four seconds to throw. He's got
five star wide receivers. You know, NFL is can you
throw in a pocket that's about as broad as my shoulders?
Speaker 2 (40:36):
I mean, Tom Brady.
Speaker 1 (40:38):
Go look at many of Tom Brady's great throws in
the biggest spots against New York Giants teams in Super Bowls.
You got a little tiny pocket one thousand and one,
one thousand two, Get it out. I mean that's the NFL.
One thousand and one, one thousand two.
Speaker 2 (40:51):
Gotta be out. In the NFL, the.
Speaker 1 (40:53):
Difference between two point four seconds and two point eight
is a touchdown and getting your bell rung so well,
you know, and there's a story today JJ McCarthy in
concussion protocol.
Speaker 2 (41:04):
I root for the kid. He's been banged up a lot,
he's lost confidence. Nobody roots against kids. But I said this.
I said this to you know, when Tim Tebow came out.
Speaker 1 (41:15):
Tim Tebow would take a snap, Spurriers, Urban Meers, the coach.
He had like three NFL wide receivers, lollipop throw down
the sideline. All data throw Brona the NFL. The NFL
is what Shador went through at Colorado. Chaudeur was running
for his life. Shaduur knows what it's like to play
(41:36):
with a battle line. You're trailing, you have to throw
forty five. Give Shador credit his Colorado life. That's much
closer to playing for a bad NFL team. He's been
running for his life for years
