Speaker 1 (00:01):
What's a Friends, and welcome into Fantasy Pros the Fantasy
Football Podcast. I'm Chris Welsh with Pat Fitzmorris and Andrew
Erickson for the Quarterback and tight end Week thirteen Ranks episode.
We are here with the top twelve on the big
board of each of these positions and players outside that
you might want to take a look at. Happy Holidays
or shopping or really just Saturday Friday, whatever it is
(00:22):
wherever you are listening to this FITSI. It has been
a big ranks week with all of the craziness quarterbacks
and tight ends. Just give a great a comfort level
of the quarterback and tight ends this week versus the
core guys or the options outside the top twelve to
go from.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Oh man, I'll say C plus a quarterback because the
top options look pretty solid, but I get real uncomfortable
outside the top fourteen or so, and tight end maybe
a little bit better.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
We'll give it a B.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
I think there's some decent streaming options and at least
two or three good high end options.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Okay, so tight end depth a little bit better than
quarterbacks this week. Ericson same thing, what's your what's the vibe?
Check on quarterbacks? And tight ends, the core players and
the depth never wrong.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
Just one week early on Tasom Hill. Let's go, Okay, that's.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
What we're gonna do. Yes, we are going to talk
about Tayson.
Speaker 4 (01:18):
I mean last week I was like all about Tasom Hill,
and the guy had all the opportunities in the world
to get it done and it did work out.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
So I actually don't even have Taysom Hill on the
ranks sheet, but we will talk about him. We will,
we will add him, so you can do that one hundred.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
I mean, we even can't talk quarterbacks and tight ends
and not talk about Taysom Hill.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
The guy that is a quarterback slash tight.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
End who's actually a running back but mass those two
other positions.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Yeah, has there ever been He's a quarterback in tight
end who's actually a running back, sometimes a kick returner,
occasional wide receiver, and also sometimes doesn't do any of it.
So he is the weirdest, we're weirdest player in the NFL.
All right, So we're going to go through the big
board on each one of those, and we'll get to
that in one second. We do like to talk about giveaways, though,
So before we start up, this is your chance and

Speaker 4 (02:42):
It's like when my wife says we're gonna watch an
EPI tonight and EPI.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
Yes, absolutely, Eppie. It's a different meaning. But we can
do episodes too. All right, let's get into the quarterback rankies.
We got the top twelve here for the ranks, starting
with Patrick Mahomes as your number one quarterback for the week.
And a five star rating. Josh Allen comes in at two,
Lamar Jackson at three, Jalen Hurts, Drake May, and Matthew
Stafford at six. Your seven through twelve is Joe Burrow,
(03:10):
Justin Herbert, Dak Prescott, Jacoby Brissett, bo Nix, and Jared Goff.
As just an aside. Watching Matthew Stafford, it's hard to
not have him as the number one quarterback every week.
You don't have to do that for this rank stuff.
He is just boy, He is something else right now.
He can just do what he wants. At Will comes
in at six here because it's a great matchup. Frankly,
he might be at six simply because they might do
(03:31):
the same thing they did with the Bucks. He just
throws three touchdowns in the first eighteen minutes of the
game and then they just run the ball and don't
have to do anything else. So that could hurt. But
the quarterbacks that we are going to talk about, we
got a couple quarterbacks that are outside of this range.
But the one I thought that was really interesting now
that I look at it, I suppose bo Nix you
could throw into this is Jacoby Brissett. Jacoby Brissett had yards,
he did not have touchdowns. It's maybe questionable decisions. Last
(03:54):
week we had him high in the ranks. I can
quite live up to it. But he's right back again
at QB ten and it's because it's the Tampa Bay
Buccaneers who just got shredded. You guys have him both.
It looks like at eleven. So, FITZI, why don't we
start with you? What's your confidence level in Brissett? After
it seemed like there was a high level of confidence
(04:15):
last week? It was okay, it was fine. How do
you feel about him going into Tampa Bay? And then,
just as a side note, maybe like him versus bow Knicks,
which side do you have?
Speaker 2 (04:24):
So I'm feeling pretty good about Jacoby Brissett, mostly because
of the passing volume. I've got him one spot behind
bow Nicks, just because the matchup against the Commanders is
so good. The Commanders are averaging. They're giving up almost
nine yards per pass attempt, which is like so much
higher than anyone else in the league. The next worst
(04:45):
pass defense Dallas, whoever it is. Washington is just a
sieve as far as their pass defense. So don't like
Brissette's matchup quite as much against the Buccaneers. But the
Buccaneers are they have a good run defense. That that's
what they do with Todd Bolts. They stuffed the runs.
So we feel pretty good about Jacoby Brissette's passing volume.
(05:07):
And in his last three games he has thrown a
ton of passes forty four fifty seven and forty nine
pass attempts in those three games. So Cardinals running game
is kind of a hodgepodge right now. Maybe they get
Trey Benson back this week, maybe they don't. Bam Knight
wasn't really effective last week. Michael Carter, Eh, So they're
(05:30):
gonna throw a lot against the Buccaneers. And that's what
we like, the passing volume.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
And you know, also to throw on top of all
of it a NFL completion record that Jacoby Brissette got
as well, so that was pretty handy. Erickson, what do
you think about Brissett as well?
Speaker 4 (05:46):
Brissett versus bon Nicks for this week, So I also
have bo Nicks ranked ahead of Jacoby Brissett.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
I don't really have anything else to add with Brissett.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
Just like, if you're gonna throw them ball fifty times,
this is really hard not to be fantasy QB one,
even if you don't necessarily play the quarterback position in
real life. That fantastic should be a shootout against Tampa Bay.
It's a pass final defense. We know that the Cardinals
can't really run the ball without Trey Benson, so I
think Prissett, Yeah, if you've been starting him, there's no
reason to look elsewhere this week.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
I think if you picked him up and you're streaming him.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
I'm curious, though, Fitz, I know last time you did
Dak Prescott over bow Nicks.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
Are you doing that again here with the Dak playing
the KNA City Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
Yes, I am. I expect to shoot out and look
at the weapons Dack has like, it's we get a Vegas.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
Total, same weapons last time against Denver.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
And that was against Denver.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
But you know, last week I was a little above
consensus on Dak and it worked out pretty well. So
I'm still a believer in this offense. I don't like
that Tyler Geiton is going to be out for a while.
That's that's one issue. So maybe that might get me
to eventually slide Dak behind bow Knicks, But for right now,
I who better man? I mean, Dak is ten times
(07:02):
the quarterback bone nixes and I know Matt I'll disagree,
But then again, I made that case last time and
I proved wrong about it when Dak played Denver and
was you're doubling down man stuffed in a locker. So,
but this is Casey's past.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
He is not quite as impregnable as.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Denversus one guy. You know, people will be like, well,
of course you want to talk about him, but I
think it's important to talk about it, especially when you
were going through fits like the depth of like, hey,
I like the starters, and then things get into question.
Is Rock Purty Rock Purtty is easier fifteen this week?
You guys both have him lower and rightfully so. He
was horrific in that game that they shouldn't have won
(07:41):
with not just bad picks but bad decisions across the board.
He looked like a remake, a rerun of Jimmy Garoppolo.
I was screaming for Mac Jones in that game, and
then you're gonna throw in the Browns in this one.
The fort Anders quarterbacks have been relatively chalk of, like
it's two hundred and two touchdowns, but Brock Purty looks
so bad. Ricky Piercell is not involved in the offense.
(08:02):
It's very one dimensional. Like there's a lot of problems
with the forty nine ers, and I think Brock Purty
has gone from like a solid, streaming type of quarterback
to someone that you really can't take a look at.
And Ericson, you have him the absolute lowest of anybody.
You got him at twenty fifth, you got him at seventeen. Ericson,
we have to avoid brock Party this week. Correct.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
Yes, Look, I am definitely the lowest person in ECR
on Joe Burrow this week. I would still start Joe
Burrow over brock Perty because I'm even lower on Purty
this week.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
This is the awful, awful matchup.
Speaker 4 (08:32):
Cleveland in November on the road Miles Garrett Ugh, especially
with how Purty played against the Carolina Panthers, like atrocious
thrown pick after pick, not reading the field, not reading
the defense very well. So I mean, if he comes
out throws another couple of picks, I think Shanahan's going
to keep him in, Like like that's something that kind
(08:52):
of it crosses my mind again, ever since Fits brought
up the think about Justin Field's getting bench like, that's
not something I'm like considering with, Hey, this quarterback starts
out really really bad. Are we going to get garbage
time production or production late in the second half?
Speaker 3 (09:04):
So that's a concern for me.
Speaker 4 (09:05):
I would stay as far away from rock Purty as
possible this week.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
Yeah, if it's I mean you got him lower, I
don't know if you have any other big take and
it's you know, maybe even need to go lower on him.
But yeah, I think everything is screaming. This is a
horrifically bad spot that yeah, maybe in a super flex
you can put him out there. But you know, he
wasn't just making like bad reads. It was the throws
that were bad.
Speaker 4 (09:27):
Like.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
He was to the point where I don't think they
would ever bench him, but there might be a soft guys,
rock party is just not healthy enough. Let's get mac
joneson like that's how they would bench him. They would
never kill the confidence, but let's say you can you
start rock party in week thirteen?
Speaker 2 (09:41):
The way he was sailing throws, Welsh, I thought they'd
snuck JJ McCarthy into a forty nine m.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
Shuret again totally.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
So yeah, it was it was pretty bad.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
Right now, I've got Purty at quarterback seventeen, which is
kind of saying I don't want to start him very much.
Speaker 3 (09:57):
The only.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
The only tough call here, and you know, like not
to give myself a pat on the back, but like
I've done a pretty good job of ranking Jordan Love,
and just like I feel like Jordan Love's has been
a little bit over ranked for how the Packers want
to play, which is conservatively and at a slow pace.
So right now I've got pretty one spot ahead of
Jordan Love. I might flip flop those two, especially man
(10:23):
late November in Cleveland, Like we're we're probably gonna have
lousy weather for this game, aren't we. Like I know
here in the Chicago area, it is supposed to be
like cold and snowy this weekend, so I would imagine
it's going to be pretty similar in Cleveland. Yeah, and
I think I'm gonna do that right now. So brock
Perty is going to be my quarterback eighteen. Can't move
(10:44):
him any lower than that, because I like, I don't
want to have him below Tyrod Taylor. I don't really
want to have him below Daniel Jones, who has to
go against the Texans who have not given up a
quarterback one season all year or a quarterback one week
all year.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
Yeah, what about your boy Kirk Cousins.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
But Donald Mooney, Yeah no, no, Kirk Cousins is not
going to be they They're going to continue to try
to hide Kirk Cousins, who had twenty three pass attempts
last week.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
I want to play Brock Party as much as I
want to play Shador Sanders, So I'll just put it
at that at this point, Sam Donald, Sam Donald is
QB sixteen on ECR. You guys are in a little
different feelings, FITZI. You're kind of on the lower end
or more the ECR rank. If Erickson's going to be
on the high. What's your take on Sam Donald for
this week? Do you have them above who is it
you just said, the Brock Party and Jordan Love? Do
(11:34):
you have Donald above them?
Speaker 2 (11:35):
Just ahead of those guys and just behind Trevor Lawrence.
And it's it's not that I hate the match up
against the Vikings. I just worry that the Vikings won't
be able to push the Seahawks at all in this
game with Max Brosmer at quarterback and the Seahawks will
go run heavy if they can. They have shown us
that Sam Donald has thrown fewer than thirty passes in
(11:56):
seven of his eleven starts this year. So is that
we get like twenty two pass attempts for Sam Donald
in a game that the Seahawks win by three touchdowns?
Speaker 1 (12:08):
Ericson what do you think on Sam Donald? You are higher.
You actually have him at twelve, So vibes are very
high for you on Sam Donald.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (12:15):
Well, I do think that the Seahawks will probably kill
the Minnesota Vikings, and in that case, they put up
thirty thirty five points. Yeah, it's possible that it's the
running backs that eat or buckle up.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
Guys.
Speaker 4 (12:28):
We're going down narrative street, Sam Donald facing his old team,
the Minnesota Vikings. Let's get into the passing touchdowns. Let's
get Jason three touchdowns and two hundred receiving arts because
we want him to break the record. I think that
we're at a spot here where I couldn't believe this,
but Jayson has already broke the all time Seahawks receiving
yards record that DK Metcalf held like over thirteen hundred
yards and it's week twelve.
Speaker 3 (12:49):
Because absolutely bonkers.
Speaker 4 (12:52):
So in a matchup where oh we can put up points,
Sam Donald facing his old team that didn't want him,
that wanted to go with J. J. McCarthy, and it
looks like an absolutely disastrous decision. Dude, gave me Sam Donald.
I think that he's going to be dealing. I think
he's going to be motivated, and I think when the
giving opportunities in the red zone, I don't think it's
gonna be Sharpenay. I don't think Sammy ken Walker. I
think it's gonna be Sam Donald JSN pad those stats, Baby.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
Pull up Alexa. Turn right at Narrative Street. I'm all
for it. Turn right at Narrative Street.
Speaker 4 (13:20):
I am with you.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
Let's go, Baby, let's go. I'm changing my directions immediately.
All right, let's go to tight ends, tight ends. Getting
to the quarterbacks. Here, we've got the top twelve board
starts us with Trey McBride at number one, George Kittle
noth nothing crazy on the top end of these guys,
brock Bowers at three, Travis Kelsey at four, Tyler Warren,
Mark Andrews. Mark Andrews is a big old nothing burger always,
(13:43):
but it's just a great matchup, so that that's when
I kind of have an issue with Ronnie Gatson comes
in at seven, Jake Ferguson, Hunter, Henry Dallas Goddard, Kyle Pitts,
and Juwan Johnson. You know, I have to ask this
one fifty's let's start with you then, just real quick,
Mark Andrews, where do you have him ranked? He does
nothing every single week? Are you comfortable literally putting him
(14:04):
in as like a top seven or eight tight end
just because it's the Bengals?
Speaker 2 (14:08):
Yep, tight end six? I mean everyone just rocks the Bengals.
I I Isaiah likely is a good spot start DFS option,
Like everyone every tight end just destroys the Banks. Remember
that came against Pittsburgh, where like every Pittsburgh tight end
had a touchdown against the Bengals, Like just every tight
end eats against Cincinnati, Erickson.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
Same thing with you. I mean, I know you're a
Mark Andrews guy. He just he does nothing every single week.
So this is gonna be the week where he catches
two touchdowns? You have him as a tight end six
or seven?
Speaker 3 (14:39):
He might catch three touchdowns. To be honest, exactly, this
is just.
Speaker 4 (14:44):
And watching the Patriots Bengals game last week, dude, Like
there's there was literally no one around Hunter.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
I know the entire game, the guy's like wide open.
Speaker 4 (14:50):
The Bengals are like, no, we're gonna lock down the
number one wide receiver even though we can't stop the run.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
It's like we're gonna stop Stefan Diggs at all costs.
And Patriot's like sick.
Speaker 4 (15:01):
And then once Drake May finally figured out that the
tight ends are not being covered, dude, he just ripped
it to Hunter.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
Henry. Even Austin Hooper was productive in that game.
Speaker 4 (15:08):
So we know Mark Andrews has a ton of touchdown
equity from the tushbush that they run with him and
the fact that he always gets red zone targets. He
should have caught a touchdown last week, so I get
what Lamar has obviously been really disappointing in fantasy. He
had some opportunities last week to convert some more touchdowns
against the Cincinnati Bengals. This is so obvious of a
smash spot for Mark Andrews, Like, it's crazy to think
(15:29):
that we're really moving up a guy. I don't have
him four like, like besides Trey mc bride, like dude,
brock Bauers, like Kelsey, if he got just a touchdown,
maybe he could outscore Mark Andrews. But dude, I'm throwing
some some two touchdown bets on Mark Andrews for Thursday
Night Football, like.
Speaker 1 (15:44):
They just dropped a dude on us too, Like, dude, dude,
that's the breakdown.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
Every year there's the team that just can't cover tight ends,
like last year was the Panthers. But has there ever
been a bigger welcome matt for tight ends than the
Bengals this year? Like everyone and everyone eats against Cincinnati,
it's it's Skyline Chili and Greater's ice Cream for everyone.
Every tight end you face is the Bengals.
Speaker 3 (16:08):
It's absurd.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
The thing that does work really well in it because
like this one also is a little bit narrative street
because it's just like it's an incredible matchup. But also
if you look like Lamar Jackson's been bad, Mark Andrews
is not getting targets and stuff like that, but it
is such a good matchup. The thing that works really
well is look at the you know, just turn around
and look at the trail behind him. It's not a
bunch of Trailblazers. You know Kyle Pitt's disappointment without Drake
(16:31):
London got it. I mean, Hunter Henry is an interesting
one and they got the Giants this week and he's
a big touchdown equity guy and he gets a volume,
so I think there's maybe an argument there. Gadsden's been
a little bit phased out, so I do think there's
some guys that you can have the discussion about. But
to be fair, it's not like there's like these amazing
(16:52):
tight ends behind it. You want to play upside. It
is an incredible matchup for Mark Andrews and that's why
he sits there. Another really interesting tight end we move
out because this is like the core players you're most
likely not you know, not starting the Goddards and the
Henrys and even the Jawn Johnson. I think is a
good matchup. But Britain Strange, just Brenton Strange entered the
chat at tight end fourteen this past week, got some targets,
(17:15):
got yards. You guys have him right around this same
general range. Is Britain Strange. One of the reasons why
the tight end depth feels better than the quarterback depth.
Let's start with you ericson what are your vibes on
Briton Strange, knowing that Brian Thomas could be back as
well this week.
Speaker 4 (17:31):
I love Brenton's range this week. I think that he
is a borderline tight end fantasy one. The thing with
Trevor Lawrence is, and this is something I wish I'd
considered more in terms of Brian Thomas Junior's ranking this year,
is who have been the most successful wide receivers in
Trevor Lawrence's career. It's been Evan Ingram as a tight
end and Christian Kirk as a slot wide receiver. Brian
Thomas Junior is neither of those things, so of course
(17:53):
he's bad with Trevor Lawrence. Meanwhile, Jacoby Myers, I mean
Jacob Myers has been productive, Like he showed up three
weeks ago and been pretty productive for three straight weeks
because he's a slot receiver that Trevor Lawrence fits in
really well. Stylistically, Brenton Strange, this is all this time
with injury, immediately comes back and really goes back to
Trevor Lawrence as his go to guy as a tight end.
So yeah, like these are the guys that Trevor Lawrence
(18:15):
feels comfortable throwing the ball to Brenton Strange. Is Trevor
Lawrence's safety net. It's a good matchup against Tennessee Titans.
So yeah, I mean if strangers out there on waivers again,
he was dropped in a lot of these because he
got hurt. But I know I had to start him
last weekend a dynasty leage because it was either him
or t J. Hawkinson, and I was like, not a
chance going back to t J Hawkinson. I'll play the
guy coming off in your reserve. So that ended up
(18:36):
working out, and I think you got to go right
back to it.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
Fitz, do you think that Brenton Strange belongs in the
tier of like the Juwan Johnson's the cole pits. I
think THEO Johnson's right outside of that or is he
the start of the next tier.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
No, I think he does belong in that tier, and
for reasons Ericson outlined, I mean Trevor Lawrence, it does
seem like he would rather throw it too tight ends
than to you know, Brian Thomas, never mind that he
has a total package of like size, speed and everything.
But yeah, I mean a couple of years ago, Evan
Ingram had one hundred and forty three targets and one
(19:10):
hundred and fourteen catches playing with Trevor Lawrence, And like,
we just got reminded about how much Trevor Lawrence loves
throwing the tight ends when Brenton Strange came back after
not being around for weeks and immediately five catches for
ninety three yards.
Speaker 1 (19:26):
All right, Final one here is Colson Lovelin, who has
been a big positive, but we don't seem to be
sharing big, major positive vibes on him. This week it
is against Philly. He comes in at sixteen. You guys
both have him at seventeen fits. He wan't you take
us home with your thoughts on Colson Loveland. He's behind
Brenton Strange, He's behind quite a few of these guys.
Maybe he is the start of the next tier of
(19:48):
tight ends.
Speaker 2 (19:49):
Yeah, Loveland has looked so good lately. He is a
guy I'm going to be really excited about drafting in
twenty twenty six. But the Eagles are just so tough
on tight ends. Philly is giving up the second fewest
fantasy points per game the tight ends, behind only the Bills.
So I think this is kind of a week to
cool your heels on Colston.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
Lovelin ericson your rank kind of says the same thing.
But do you agree do we need to chill on
Loveland for this week? And is he in the tier you?
Is he the bottom tier of the like you know,
the Schultz of THEO THEO Johnson's or is he in
the next top tier of this next grouping.
Speaker 4 (20:23):
I think he's at the bottom of that tier because
I think that worst case scenario, have you got to
start Colston Loveland. I don't think that you're dead on arrival.
I mean, he's been really consistent despite the fact that
he's still kind of been splitting snaps in certain games
with cole Comett. He has three or more catches in
six straight games. And like Fitz said, the dude is
just good at football, Like he looks like an absolute monster.
(20:45):
And once he gets fully unlocked when cole Comette leaves
next year in free agency, I'm right there with Fitz.
It's like, who's going to be this year's Tucker Craft.
It's going to be Colston Loveland, Like, like, I feel
very strong thinking about that. For twenty twenty six tight
end rankings that Loveland is going to be that guy.
But the matchup is obviously brutal against Philadelphia Eagles, so
that's where you're most concerned. That again, probably more of
a floor play if he finds the end zone. You're
(21:06):
obviously glad that you're started in, but I think there
are probably more better tight end options just this week.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
Well, you guys can find all those options over at
