(02:08):
off down the game Time app to day, here yourself
some tickets. Let's bang out some questions that that game was.
I'm still this is probably I don't know, eighteen hours
after the game, what a bananas experience it really was?
What was on the line, the ebbs and flows, the storyline,

(02:29):
narratives changing, I mean, the pressure that was gonna mount
on Sam Darnold heading into the playoffs for him having
that final drive which was the game winner. Kubiak that
great two point play, slipping that tight end and out
at the end of the place wide open in the
front of the end zone, Mike McDonald calling great plays.

(02:50):
I got McVeigh for the most part. I had a
fantastic game for a guy that barely slept. Stafford threw
for like four hundred and fifty yards. Pooka Nakula's just
I don't know, like the Paul and Thesan, Calvin Johnson
or something. Guy's fucking unstoppable. So it's just what a
night and a lot of pressure now on the forty
nine ers to try to win these next two games
and control their own Dissy is the number one overall seat,

(03:13):
which is gonna be hard. Right that they play on
Monday night against the Colts, which is gonna be a
just tough game on the road. That place is gonna
be going bananas. But even if they take care of
Rivers and his forty four year old second game in
five years, you know, the game next week against the
Bears on Sunday night football is going to be difficult
as well. Obviously, We'll see how the Bears do Saturday nights,
so they get a little longer. I didn't even thought

(03:35):
about that. It's a pretty big advantage for the Bears.
They get all Sunday all day Monday. Now they do
have to travel, but the forty nine's have to travel
back from Indie Monday night. So tough spot didn't quite
hit me till just now. I thought that Bears game
was gonna be tough no matter what. But let's answer
some questions the Doctor Vibe Show. Greetings number one fan

(03:56):
in Toronto. You know I've never been always heard really
good things. Would love to go one day with Patrick
Mahomes out for a while. How much blame should be
put on the Chiefs for mahomes injury by not focusing
on strengthening their offensive line? See I pushed back. They
took Josh Shimmons this year at the end of the
first round, who's a really really talented player. He broke

(04:18):
his wrist or did some news. I mean's basically out
for the year. Like that's they found themselves a left tackle.
They invested a lot of money into Tray Smith, who
in theory is a Pro Bowl guard. Now he's been
banged up this year. Creed Humphrey is a highly paid center.
They drafted the kid from BYU last year that I
think they view more as a guard. They forced him

(04:40):
at tackle. That hasn't worked out great. But when you
have a high priced team that they're paying Patrick, Chris
Jones and even Kelsey like that, those guys make a
lot of money, and now their center and their guard
make a lot of money. You don't have unlimited cap.
This isn't the Yankees are the Dodgers like that. There
is a cap and you got to hit on draft picks,
and it's hard to find offensive linemen. I think a

(05:00):
lot of people would say the offensive lineman coming out
of college has never been worse. It used to be
kind of a rule of thumb that you can just
obviously Jason Kelsey somewhat of an outlier because it'd be
a Hall of Famer, but you can find like a
ten year guarter center in the fifth, sixth round. I
think if you talk to scouts and gms in offensive
line coaches, I think it's a lot more difficult. Over

(05:23):
the course of the last five years, the transfer portals
so poor development because guys are bouncing around so their
fundamentals are all over the place. I think the changing
of the sport in college that is so spread, and
you know, the building up of their talents. Less teams
run offenses that mirror those of the NFL. I think

(05:45):
there are a lot of factors, but it's a challenge
for a lot of teams. I mean, there are a
lot of teams that would replace sixty percent of their
offensive line if they could. A lot of NFL fans
and personalities are calling it a joke that Josh is
getting serious MVP consider consideration. Through Week fifteen, he has
one hundred more yards and the same number of total

(06:07):
touchdowns as Stafford. If Allen had the Rams roster McVeigh
and played ten of eighteen regular season games indoors, his
stats would be outrageous. Swap Stafford on the Bills with
Shakir and Coleman being his top receivers and having the
thirtieth ranked run defense, he wouldn't be in the MVP
running and the Bills might miss the playoffs. Listen, as

(06:28):
Stafford was having an excellent game last night, it looked
like they were gonna win. A huge part of his
candidacy was he's having an excellent year. He's clearly playing
the position at the highest level of his career. But
I would also say, like it almost feels like a
career achievement award for the guy, but they end up losing,
which is not his fault. I do think there's only

(06:50):
one guy, Like it's a two horse race, like Drake
May after last week, you're out of it, Like you're
not winning the MVP, You're not better than Josh Allen,
Like we're not giving the MVP to a guy that
is clearly dramatically better than you. Rightfully, so you're second
year player, I'm not even blaming you. But to me,
it's a two horse race, and I think Josh can
win it. I think Josh is a very very as

(07:11):
we would say in the gambling world, live dog. I mean,
I like his trajectory. Now. I think the way this
plays out with the Rams they win these last two weeks,
they're playing the car Or Yeah, the Cardinals and the
Falcons in reverse order. They're going to Atlanta and then
they're playing in Arizona. But I got no problem keeping

(07:31):
tabs on Josh Allen. I think he is very very
in the mix Vikings fan here, I heard your December
eighteenth episode and someone asks about medical and second opinions
for context, I'm an emergency department urgent care nurse practitioner.
A good example from twenty five was when Jalen Naylor

(07:53):
hurt his hand in camp in the preseason. The team
doc recommended a conservative of approach. Jalen got a second
opinion in Los Angeles and had surgery and was ready
to play Week one. Not a great year for the team,
but he's a good player. I think that happens all
the time. These guys are constantly getting second opinions. And

(08:14):
I don't pretend I got a couple of state school
degrees that are pretty meaningless to have any clue what
doctors do and how they diagnose stuff. But it's you're
taking educated guesses, and clearly opinions differ, Like it's pretty
clear on an MRI when you have a broken bone
or a torn acl but with a lot of injuries, strains,
back injuries, stuff that is I would say, pretty subjective.

(08:38):
You're going to get opinions all over the map. And
I think you also lean on teammates and people in
your circle. They're like, hey, your agent has a guy
that went through the same injury. Give him a call,
see what he says, Cause it is, you know, a
small fraternity of these guys that are playing that. I
think that happens all the time. As someone who keeps

(09:00):
an eye on the Niners, do you ever laugh a
little when you hear teams like the Packers and fans.
Teams like the Packer fans complain that their season is
over after a few injuries, while Kyle is fighting for
the number one seed with duct tape and a practice squad. Guys,
I think the difference is I think we all acknowledge

(09:22):
any non like total you know, red and gold colored glasses.
The forty nine ers are not winning the Super Bowl.
You can't remove those two guys from defense. Fred Warner
is one of the best players in the NFL. Nick Bosa,
who I thought it had kind of a down year
last year before he tores ACL he looked like peak
Nick Bosa. And then you factor in Mikel Williams, which

(09:46):
I don't know how good he was gonna be, but
he was a top fifteen pick and he was gonna
play a lot. You just can't remove that much is
from Georgia. I mean, it's a three year starter for
a team that won multiple Natties. You can't remove that
much physical talent and still be the same. Plus they
have a million other injuries. I mean, their backups also
get hurt. So I think the expectation for the forty
nine ers is if Kyle wins a playoff game, now,

(10:09):
we'll see how these next three games play out. Maybe
I'd be a little stunned if they win the last
three games, but if he did, that'd be an incredible accomplishment.
But still obviously only two games away from the super Bowl,
it would be very, very difficult with the guys they're
rolling out on defense. Now they have some guys that
might come back, but they also lost a couple offensive linemen.
You know, Pierce All as I'm recording this on Friday,

(10:30):
is in major question for Monday, and you just forty
nine ers injuries turned into like, well, he's only going
to miss you know, a couple of weeks, and then
all of a sudden, he misses a month. So I
think part of the deal with the Niners is you
just never know with injuries. But they're two weeks ago.
Most people that followed football, watch football talked about football

(10:52):
what the Packers could win a Super Bowl. I think
it was hard to see with the forty nine ers,
so their expectations were a little bit different. That's why
I said last week, Okay, like hey, Matt, maybe you
can't win the Super Bowl, but you can still beat
the Bears. You can still win a playoff game, and
you get a lot of credit and you've got a
contract extension. So I think part of it is if

(11:13):
you're really rich and all your money disappears, it's pretty jarring.
But if you're really rich and you lose half of
it and then you learn to live off half of it,
you're like, ah, this is as bad as you thought, right,
And that's kind of where the forty nine ers have
been for a while now, right, And so I think
they've been in kind of a different lane than the Packers.
Here's the other part. They traded two first round picks

(11:35):
for Mike Parsons and then gave the guy a ton
of money. So that has to play into this, that
when you do something like that and then that guy
gets injured, it's just a jarring experience, it really is.
I Mean I saw with the forty nine ers when
they went all in for Trey Lance. It's different with
a draft pick than an established star, But when that

(11:58):
guy has a catastrophic injury, it just it's hard for
the psyche. I don't know. I mean, I don't blame
Packer fans for being pretty rattled, because the Niners have
had moments like that where they've been pretty rattled. I
would say Fred shattering his ankle was pretty rattling moment.
I think I heard Fred tel Ersillo he's missed one
game in his career. You just you know Bosa, it's

(12:20):
like it sucks, but he's been injured before. Fred never
missed his time. In your opinion, how much is shador
and the talk around him this year actually been about
how people think he is actually good, Dion being beloved
media member, so they are scared to be critical and honest.
He's done well and I wanted my team, the Steelers,

(12:42):
to get him in the third or fourth round, but
I'm glad they didn't because if he was a third stringer,
they would make up com Bs complaining why he's a
third stringer, he wasn't getting first team reps and so on.
There have been many quarterbacks before and will be those
after that were great at smaller college pro that get
drafted late and don't get to start. I think a

(13:06):
huge part of Shador is the moment Dion and he
and Travis got to Colorado. They became a major story
that did really well in our business. Right if you
talked about him on the internet, they got huge numbers.
They did big television numbers on ESPN. So then you
start talking about him and it resonated. It was a
polarizing story. The draft story was a legitimate Alzheimer. Now,

(13:32):
I think clearly people mocking him to go in the
top five had no clue what they were talking about.
But I do think he was viewed by anyone that
watched football as a guy that can go on the
second day of the draft, and when he doesn't go
to the fifth round, it becomes a crazy story. And
then all this information comes out that he wouldn't talk
to teams. He's telling Ozzie Newsome don't draft him, or

(13:52):
his dad was, which again I think is a major mistake.
But regardless, like you don't want to you do not
want to go the Cleveland Browns. I think a huge
part of Shador is in the business that we're all
in it works now to me, the story's kind of boring. Now,
I don't talk about it that much. I don't care, right,
he doesn't at this point in time. The Browns are

(14:13):
a nothing burger to me. Right, I thought he actually
played well against the Titans, clearly did not play well
last week against the Bears. He's made some I mean,
he's made some nice rows, made some terrible throws. He's
a fifth round pick. Like, at the end of the day,
the league, clearly, you know, I think a lot of
good teams, and I've said this a huge reason heel
fell to the fifth A lot of playoff teams would

(14:35):
have drafted and probably minimum in the fourth Eagles, the Ravens,
some of these teams. But when he's telling you no
and he won't talk to you, it's like it's a
no go. You're not even gonna deal with it. So
you know, he probably got drafted a little bit later
because of what they did. But that's added to the
story and the polarization of them. I also think the

(14:56):
power of Dion in terms of like I don't know
how how much Colorado you watched this year, but they
were fucking terrible, Like they were a really bad football team,
so their buzz in kind of traction in the college
football world, I would say dramatically slowed in his juice
of talking. I mean last year, part of it was
he had Travis Chador and those guys were they were

(15:17):
good at Colorado. I bet on them a lot, like
they were an entertaining good team. So I think it's
more than it just it's a story that works. It's
it's kind of in the same vein as the Cowboys
or the Lakers. Like for most people, especially the major networks,
you talk about them, you won't go out of business.

(15:41):
On the pod, you have been talking about the outside
shed set up for your office. Can you dive into
the details? How big is it? How much did it cost?
What was the process easier? Heart? There's this company called
Studio Shit no free ads here, but they're not paying
me to say this. I actually paid them and I needed.

(16:02):
You know, part of the old room where I did
my podcast was one of the rooms in our house,
and we have three rooms in an office. Well the
office she kind of uses and it's in the middle
of the house. It's a glass office. It's not a
podcast office. It's kind of right by the living room
in the master bedroom, it just would not work, so

(16:22):
it was never an option for me. So I had
to use a bedroom, which was awesome and it worked well.
But once you have a baby, you're obviously you know,
her mom or whoever people are gonna be coming here.
We gonna get help and just need a room. I
also need to be able to podcast, you know, without
crazy noise around. And when we bought this house, there

(16:44):
was a lot of work to be done. And I'm
on a cul de sac, so the sides of my
house are actually much bigger than most of the houses
in my neighborhood. So I basically had like dirt stretches
on two sides of my house, and one of them
it's kind of backs up there's like a wash in between,
but there's a road so it's kind of loud. So
I put it on the other side and we just

(17:06):
had open space. There was literally just nothing here but dirt.
And I think it's ten by fourteen. I have, you know,
full power. I had my internet guy, or my kind
of guy that set up my whole house with you know, speakers, TVs,
wired internet cameras. He's the best, Nate, He's just stud

(17:27):
We have it hardwired. I got a couple of TVs
and when I I didn't have to, but I got
it permitted. The only reason I did. If you sell it,
I don't want them to think like I did it
not above board. But when the guy came out to
give the okay on the permit's it looks like a
little room, right, it doesn't look like a shed. And

(17:49):
he's like, are you guys gonna airbnb this because obviously Scottsdale,
like a lot of these cities, have rules. I'm like, no,
like this is a I told him it was like
a gym. But regardless, no one's gonna live in this thing.
There's no bathroom or anything. I think it was like
all said and done. You know, I had to lay
a slab of concrete. I got extra insulation that is

(18:11):
kind of closer to a studio, much more than like
just a normal house wall. I think all said and done,
you know, give or take forty ish grand again, it
was a business expense for me. That was I couldn't
find I got kicked out of the room. I didn't
have a choice. And eventually we'll see how you know,
the kid comes, I'm sure we'll have another kid. We'll

(18:32):
have to get an office, like a normal person office
outside of the house. But I needed an area, and
even if I do that, which is still the game
plan in the future, here within the next year or two,
a place where I can record from my house. And
I just wasn't going to have that in my house.
So it was, you know, started looking around. I probably

(18:53):
could have done it cheaper from scratch, but this thing
comes ready made, like it's just it shows up. They
just have to erect it. Just go to studio shed
dot com. I started talking that they are slinging these
things all across the country, so obviously become a big
business for them, you know, with so many people working
from home. But the key for me was installation and

(19:15):
internet power. I needed to have the ability to podcast
in a place to watch football because I need multiple TVs.
Got kicked out of that room where I had my
multiple TVs. So I would say, being in here two
days now, it's been built for like three weeks, but
I kind of did some landscaping around it and just
moved everything in here. I mean, it's still shit everywhere.

(19:36):
Best money I've spent on the house. Not gonna lie,
you know, where I bet on sports during the holiday season.

In Florida, offered by Seminal hard Rock Digital LLC and
all other states, you must be twenty one plus and
physically present in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Jersey, Ohio,
Tennessee and Virginia to play terms and conditions apply. Concerned
about gambling in Florida, call one eight three three play

(21:03):
wise in Indiana. If you are someone you know has
a gambling problem and wants help, call one eight hundred
and nine with it gambling problem, call one hundred gambler Arizona, Colorado, Illinois,
New Jersey, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia. Question. When running a sub

(21:28):
two minute offense with no timeouts, why don't teams have
a quick play ready to run rather than spiking the
ball to stop the clock and burning it down. Seems
like a quick pass or one over the top could
easily catch the defense on their heels and you would
only burn an extra one or two seconds of game
clock with an incompletion. Curious why you don't see this

(21:50):
more throughout the league. I think a lot of times
when they find themselves in those situations. Let's just use
you have rules as a team, right, You're usually not
gonna spike the ball when there's a buck twenty five
on the clock, but once you get down you know
close to I don't know, I mean every team might

(22:11):
have a little bit different rule. Let's say thirty seconds
twenty seconds. You need that. You only have so much
time left, and you got guys extremely tired. You know,
not everyone's on the same page, because just to run
a play if even if you've called to if you've
just gone from like the fifty to the twenty, so
now you're, you know, basically twenty yards away from scoring

(22:33):
a touchdown. Let's say you're down four or five points.
There's twenty seconds left in the game. You've called two plays,
but you kind of look around like people are gased,
people running around. Maybe the coach starts screaming at you.
Just spike it just so you can take a n breath. Now,
you could argue, once you get inside the ten yard line, right,
you can't get a first down. You can only score
a touchdown, So wasting a play there is not ideal.

(22:54):
But I do think there are times, you know, we
never factor in when we're sitting on our couch fatigue.
Does everyone know what's going on? Part of it is
fatigue makes you not think as straight and be as focused.
So I think there are a lot of factors, and
I think the clock is the biggest. I would agree,
you know, Sean McVay wastes a lot of timeouts in

(23:16):
the third quarter. He's been doing that his whole career.
He did it again last I don't get why he
does that. I think that's way crazier blowing time out
in the third quarter for an offensive delay a game
than when we see a guy spiking it with forty
seconds left because you don't really know what's going on.
Maybe they got a rookie guy in there that doesn't
know what's going on. It might be one of their
better players. Maybe a couple offensive linemen can barely move.

(23:39):
You know, there are just a lot of variables. Big
fan of the Pod, just wanted to know if you
thought Puka was one of the best wide receivers in
the NFL after the night's game, I'm completely convinced. The
amount of catches and difficulty of each one are truly impressive.
It obviously helps playing with a Hall of Famer, but
his production development he's incredible. He's He's a dominant, dominant player.

(24:03):
I don't remember anyone quite like him. You know, if
you think about the best players at wide receiver in
the league, Jefferson, Chase Ceedee, Lamb, you know Tyreek Hill.
You know Tyreek was somewhat of an outlier, but he
got in trouble, so that's why he fell in the draft.
Most guys DK metcalf A, j Brown. You know, when

(24:26):
Deebo was taken off three or four years ago, these
guys were like college established everyone. I feel like I
didn't even know who Pooko was, and I would say,
you're He's easily one of the best wide receivers in
the league. He feels like a I don't know, like
a more unstoppable Aman Ross Saint Brown. He's He's just
so physical. He plays like a tight end. He's got

(24:48):
ball skills like he's one of the Justin Jefferson or
Ceedee Lamb. He plays fast, his his ability to catch
balls and traffic is incredible, high points balls, h plays
with the ball in his hands. He's a total package.
As McVeigh said after the postgame, when he's getting peppered
with all these questions that I'll be honest, it's crazy.

(25:09):
When you stay off the internet for a couple of days,
I was like, what is going on. I have no
clue what Alan Michaels is talking about. During the game.
He's getting peppered after the game. It's like guys, you
know this guy has just been game planning all week
and had a baby. You think you think he's watching Twitch?
You think he has any fucking clue what you guys
are talking about. The guy just caught twelve balls for
two hundred and twenty five yards. I mean it was

(25:30):
a dominant performance. He's incredible. I underestimated him just because
I thought like, is this really sustainable? And is like
he gets better every year. I want to say big
congrats on the Netflix deal. It's a testament to all
the work you do. I've always been interested in sports
media and business side how often and confused by it.
With this new deal with Netflix and iHeart will three

(25:52):
and Out still be a part of the Volume. Are
we going to get postgame pods with Colin? Also? What
was your reaction when Netflix first approached you? Did it
mirror that when Colin and the Volume approached you. I
would imagine the game plan me and Colin will still
do Sunday pods like we always did, or do nothing
will change there. The Netflix didn't approach me. It's not

(26:14):
like I got a call. It's like, hey, this is
a this is Reed Hasting's right hand man. Do you
want to in. They went through iHeart in the Volume,
and I was contacted through them if I would be interesting.
That's the way it worked. So people, I didn't negotiate
this deal, right, I was told about the interest if
I'd want to do it, and then it kind of
materialized from there. But yeah, I would imagine nothing changed.

(26:36):
The unique part about this gig is like I own
my podcast, right, and then I do a deal with
the Volume and Colin and we sell it and you know,
divvy up revenue. And this is not like when I
worked for radio. I was just an employee, didn't work
for anyone, like the YouTube channel, like I own the
YouTube channel. You know. This is not one of those

(26:58):
things that like if the Volume and everything just disappeared tomorrow,
like this is still all my stuff now, I wouldn't
have the infrastructure. I have to create a team, which
would be quite the challenge. But this, this is not
one of those gigs like even the Netflix deal. They're
just licensing what I do. Like someone hit me up
a buddy was like, hey, you need any advice. I

(27:21):
don't really plan. The only major difference I would say
moving forward is going to be our access to getting
people on the show for interviews which listen. I mean,
I know people in the NFL and media world and stuff,
but it's it's pretty easy to say now it's like
everyone's on YouTube. You got a little more juice when say,
hey want to come on a show on Netflix, you know.

(27:41):
I mean I was actually one thing doing the Sunday
Night pods with Colin. Our social clips get so many
views and the amount of people that you couldn't you know,
from Rick Ross to music stars, country music stars to
Jeremy Pivot will like the videos sometimes comment on them.

(28:03):
And the other day I was like, hit up Jeremy Pivot.
I'm like, I was like, I'd love to have you
on the show, and he hit me right back. He's like, sure,
love to hit me up after the New Year. And
that's just before anything got announced. But it you know,
that's type situation which would be incredible. I mean, my
two favorite television characters I would imagine, like most people

(28:23):
my age are a little older, would be Tony Soprano
and Ari Gold. So I mean, it would be it'd
be a thrill if it actually goes down. But it
just gives me more juice to get more interviews which
is not something I necessarily do a lot. And part
of my show is me just given opinions having just
let it fly, which I enjoy doing and I think
I'm pretty good at, which kind of built the business around.

(28:43):
But I'm though dumby, like part of the way to expand,
you know, and get in front of more people is
that have big name people on. But also like I'm
a big believer, like I want to have big name
people that I want to talk to. You just want
a big name quarterback, Well, I would be interested in
talking to Peyton. There are Philip Rivers, there would be
guys like I don't know, they don't really care, right,

(29:06):
But I'm also not dumb like I would have like
having famous people on that interest me. Like I one
theme that we do on the show that you're looking
at the creator of the the ideas for the content
is I just talk about stuff I want to talk about.
It's why I don't. We don't lead with the Dallas

(29:27):
Cowboys unless it's Sunday night football and they just played
on so you know, in the game and we're reacting
to the game. But I'm not doing this like traditional media.
I don't have to it's not the business I'm in,
and it's it's just better content when I'm talking about
something that I enjoy, Like I'm not gonna talk about
shad Or Sanders just because Shadoor Sanders played a game
like I don't care this through three touchdowns they lost

(29:48):
by forty points, doesn't it means It's just it's no
different than the Cardinals getting blown out by the Texans,
Like it's just irrelevant to me, and had success doing
it that way. I'm not saying it's right. I mean,
there'd be some people like you know, you're probably you
could grow a little faster if you did it this way.
The one way that's not disputable, though, is the guests
that matters, and that that's something that I don't want

(30:12):
to say I've like circumvented or avoided, but it's just
something we just don't really do. I haven't really had
to do, but it's something that I should be doing
and it'll be something that I emphasize more in twenty
twenty six, not like every day, but just other voices.
It doesn't always have to be me talking. So why
I like bringing Jackson on to college football just just

(30:33):
healthy to hear another voice than just this bald guy
screaming into a mic. Are you leaving the volume to
go to Netflix? No, it's it's all under the that umbrella.
Nothing's changing. I mean literally nothing's changing beside my video
that was on YouTube is now on Netflix. Who is
you know, going all in on podcasting? And I do think,

(30:53):
obviously I'm betting on at being successful, but I think
people are under it like it's not It's not as
crazy as it sounds. I truly believe that. Maybe I'm naive,
I don't know, but not that much is gonna change.
I wasn't even on YouTube three years ago. Didn't exist,
didn't happen, like, we didn't even have a page for
my stuff. It's not like you even been doing this

(31:16):
for twenty years. Is your bread? It's like being a
you know, a company and you're in business with Costco.
It's like or Walmart. They got you by the balls
because they were doing like eighty percent of your business.
It's not my business model. If it was, this wouldn't
be happening. But I do think this is a bigger
deal for my show. Given the structure of my show

(31:39):
and the growth of getting people on the show which
I don't know. Nothing would have changed if I just
went on YouTube, which is fine. I mean I enjoyed
doing it. Don't get me wrong, I've I've enjoyed doing
these reaction videos some of them. There are some Thursday
night games we're like huh. A couple of Monday night
games we're like ugh. Then you tell yourself it's like shit,
I could be digging ditches talking about football on a

(32:01):
Monday night for my job. I'm an Arizona native and
currently stationed near cal Pauly. I think that is a
base in a Royal Grande or Santa Maria if I
remember correctly. Just wanted to say, yesterday was my last
day in the military and if you had any advice
for me going into the civilian world. I'm a grinder
and will not take no for an answer to provide
for my family. Lastly, my favorite restaurant in Arizona is

(32:23):
Suma Maya in Scottsdale. I used to live right by Sumamaya.
Been there a bunch, pretty good food, little overpriced, but
cool vibe. I would say your skills translate to society.
In having success in society, one you camp in the
military without discipline, right, you wake up early from training

(32:47):
to everything you guys go through is something that most
humans don't. I remember when I left cal Pauly for
Fresno State, the guys that I were working with with
a football program a year later got hired at Army.
Rich Ellerson was the head coach. Andy Geider was one
of his head assistants that I worked with, and we
kept in contact and I remember talking to him and

(33:08):
he was just blown away by how hard it was
for their football team to practice football, because these guys
were getting up early in the morning, peteeing they were
going to certain they had certain school requirements like the
Saint like LSU or some of the guys on the
team haven't been to a class in three years. And
I'm not blaming him. I didn't go to that many either,
But my point is it's very, very intense, and I'm

(33:30):
not sure what branch of the military are in it.
Honestly doesn't matter your ability, and I would say discipline
and work ethic are the easiest ways to separate in
normal civilian life. Civilian life, I think that complicated and
there is definitely not a place easier. And I don't
know what you're passionate about what you want to do

(33:50):
to make money than this society with the Internet, I
mean especially, I would get in on technology. It's this
is a great time to be alive. Do not let
the internet ful you like it's easy. There's a lot
of doom and gloomers out there. I meet a lot
of people crushing it question for the bag at A

(34:20):
lifelong Rams fan and have followed the Seahawks rivalry very closely.
I keep hearing the narrative that the Rams big liability
is their past defense. Why is nobody mentioning the Seahawks
defense and their inability to cover people. They just allowed
Matt Stafford to pass for a freaking quarter mile. They
lost a couple of dbs in that game. I think

(34:41):
they've proven over the course of the last couple of
years that they have just had better defensive backs than you,
And that's part of it. There's not a team in
the league, not a GM, not a coaching staff that
would take your dbs over their dbs. So I think
it's just a talent issue, you know, at the end
of the day, Like you know, on defense, I certain

(35:02):
guys are gonna be better in certain schemes, right like
Richard Sherman would excelled in Pete Carroll's defense in the
twenty tens, right, But like, part of the reason he
excelled is he had elite ball skills. So if he
was in any zone situation, his instincts and ball skills
were elite. If he's in a man situation where he's

(35:22):
pressing the guy up to the line of scrimmage, he's six'
three and can, run and if you run at, him
he's one of the most physical tacklers in the. League
so like physical attributes on, DEFENSE i can take random
guys on, offense LIKE i can scheme around an average, guard,
Right it's pretty hard to scheme around an average middle
linebacker because eventually that guy's gonna be in a one

(35:45):
on one. Situation, Now Pookin nakoula, football you could, argue
especially with the rules a little like, Basketball what do they,
say good offense beats good defense every day of the,
Week Like pookinakua is beating everybody Unless Deon sanders is
coming back through that door like he's gonna. Win SO i, listen,
you GUYS i think are better on, offense they're better on.

(36:06):
DEFENSE i do think you're probably slightly the better, team
but not last. Night, okay last. Question i'm an audio,
listener BUT i do watch the live reactions on. YouTube
will you now be doing live reactions On? Netflix does
that platform support that type? Content that's where we're in
the business of discussing right. Now the game plan would

(36:27):
be to do nothing. Different so that is the plan
as we work through the logistics and the the technology behind.
It i'm pretty confident that everything will play itself out
in our direction to keep doing what we're. Doing, YES
i do think That, netflix the way people are talking

(36:48):
about it and thinking about it as the app that
they watch when they're in, bed could potentially. Change don't
quote me on. That read didn't send me an, email
BUT i would not be stunned if things look a
little different moving forward for the podcast venture that they're
involved in than what it is right now the way

(37:09):
people think about. It, congratulations life. ADVICE i get a
lot of. Congrats my, wife WHO i just saw walking
around would kill. Me the amount of. CONGRESS i, mean
she is thirty six weeks. Pregnant the kid is trying
to kick his way out of her. Belly she got
back pains being PREGNANT i. HAVE i knew it was,

(37:33):
hard But i'd never like lived day to day slept
with a pregnant woman. BRUTAL i, MEAN i freak out
WHEN i get a. Headache so it is no and
we haven't even had the baby. Yet but a lot
of respect to all your guys', wives, girlfriends or whoever
you guys are having babies, with because anyone that's had

(37:55):
a front row seat to it goes. Damn that is no. Joke,
okay last, question life. ADVICE i played lacrosse at The Naval,
academy currently serving time as a. Pilot. BADASS i owe
time Until i'm thirty, three thirty. FOUR i do want
to career pivot into something like Peib, nike basically work

(38:17):
at a large. Company, however All i've known since eighteen
is the. Military what can you say career pivots in
your early. Thirties maria's cousin was a fighter pilot for
a long time and he went TO i think he
works now At American. Airlines United airlines made one of the,

(38:38):
two which is obviously an easy natural pivot for a
pilot like, You, right but you don't want to work
in THAT i would, say like the other guy that asked,
me your background is a huge. Advantage the other thing
THAT i didn't mention is your guys' ability to work with.

(38:58):
People that is a. Skill let's be, real most people
hate working with people and aren't good at. It it's
a miserable. Situation it's become more difficult now with technology
and the sense of you don't really get to know.
PEOPLE a lot of it's over zoom. Communication it's never been,
easier but it's also probably never been. Worse, like you

(39:18):
guys are good at that cause your lives depend on.
Communication SO i would say an underrated part about do
you guys bring the? Table and this is what athletes you,
know if you're like a football player that's not going
to play in THE, nfl it's, LIKE i know how
to work with. Others that's a pretty valuable. Skill SO
i would say from you guys are unfazed by hard.

(39:42):
Stuff let's face, it most human beings like leaving some
random college like their adversity and their difficulty that they've
seen at a young age is pretty. Limited and what
you guys have to go, THROUGH i mean college is
a joke for most people that that is not the
world you guys live. In so it's a massive advantage
in older people with a fucking brain really value. That

(40:05):
so AND i also think career, pivoting like thirty is so.
YOUNG i, mean think about. It if you factor in
the world we're going into in terms of it's way.
HEALTHIER i, mean you're potentially going to live way longer
than previous. Generations let's say you lived till eighty. Five
if you're pivoting in your early, thirties you have fifty

(40:26):
plus years left in your. Life AND i mean if
you're a healthy, guy WHICH i would imagine based on
what you, do and you continue, that like you could
have like three career pivots and try different, things see what,
works and then kind of go from. There BUT i
would bet on you guys with the military background and

(40:48):
you played sports as, well and he flew like people
want to be around you. Guys before we get out of,
HERE i do have to talk about someone that was
zoned in and that's a group of. PEOPLE i. Think you,
Know i'm recording this On, friday so before these college.
Games one thing that's cool about college Right, Norman, Oklahoma, Eugene, Oregon,
TEXAS a AND. M like the majority of good programs

(41:11):
in college football have great. Atmospheres it's. Cool even the
bad teams in THE, sec like you Turn auburn at.
Night it's, like what an. EXPERIENCE i can't tell you
how many FRIENDS i have From, california like groups of
them that will go to AN sec game like once a,
year Just, Georgia, BAMA, Lsu florida just because they say
it's so fun go out. There these guys are like

(41:33):
in their late, thirties early, forties, booze hang, out go
to the, game just have a good, time and it's an.
Experience THE nfl is not really like. That you, know
if you go to, Listen i've been to a lot
Of niner. Games it's just, like don't a football, game
pro football. Game there's a short. List The, bills you,

(41:53):
know The, Chiefs. ARROWHEAD i Think denver's has that in.
Them they're kind of getting it back right. Now and
see now in THE nfl you kind of got a
win to maintain. That you, know in college you get
that win or, lose like people are gonna show up
and have a good. Time THE, nfl you start, losing you,
know people check out Having seattle back and then in

(42:15):
that place. Rocking what was really cool to. WATCH i
mean that was for The Russell Wilson. Era just a
great venue on the on The west, coast and let's face,
it there are two venues up north that are pretty.
Special like anyone my cousin played there back in the
day with Against blatt's. Teams anyone will tell You Watson,

(42:36):
stadium you can't hear yourself talk the opposing. Team you
can be on the sideline trying to talk to a
Team i'm not even talking on the. Field you can't.
Communicate AND i Think seattle it definitely probably had some
of that last night and it has it in, them
so it was just cool to see that. Moment obviously
the team is, good that, helps but we need more

(42:56):
places that feel, big that feel, important and that's what
makes The packers some of these. Places it makes their
venues pretty. Special AND i think see In seattle and
as they like to call, themselves The twelves kind of
rock that. Was that was. Odd i'm glad that experience
happened In seattle and Not Sofi stadium because that's the

(43:19):
polar opposite in terms of. Vibes the, volume
