about Mass Singer. Were you a fan of the show prior?

Speaker 5 (00:54):
It was yeah, Like it's definitely like something that has
been just like a wild concept to me that I
never really expected to do, and when the opportunity came up,
it just kind of came up the right moment at
the right time, and yeah, I said, I'm sure, why
not and ended up being a really fulfilling.

Speaker 6 (01:15):
Thing for me.

Speaker 4 (01:16):
That's awesome. Yeah, well obviously worked out really well too.
I feel like I would have guessed you because I
know your voice really well. I feel like I would have.

Speaker 5 (01:23):
Yeah, I mean, that's the thing. I also didn't really.

Speaker 7 (01:26):
Try to hide it, like, yeah, you know.

Speaker 5 (01:28):
There's an integrity that you have in performance, and I
wasn't gonna try to like make myself sound different. You know,
you can't see me.

Speaker 4 (01:36):
That's enough, exactly.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Well, you can see those performances over at On with
Mario dot Com. Hold on, I'm gonna have more of

Speaker 5 (01:59):
Don't know if I isn't supposed to tell my thing.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
I been telling them like, hey, exactly, exactly.

Speaker 5 (02:08):
Yeah, But like you know, it's always fun, like they're
they're my biggest fans and supporters, so it was it
was nice to have them like sneak them in, bring
them in and have them there a little bit along
the way.

Speaker 3 (02:22):

Speaker 4 (02:42):
How was it working with Will and Martin again.

Speaker 5 (02:45):
It's great, It's always great. They're just such professionals, and
it's always fun to be a part of that series.
You know, like they have a very specific energy that
is so much fun, end uplifting to be around, and
it's just they're funny and we get to do a
lot of action and be badasses. So it's kind of

(03:05):
like a win wind.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Absolutely looking forward to seeing that. Gotta take a little
break though. We're gonna wrap it up with Vanessa in
just a moment.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
You're the full interview now at On with Mario dot Com.
More Mario Lopez on the way.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
Mario Lopez Here, we're wrapping things up with Vanessa Hudgens.
And I saw an ig you went to see Fish
at the Sphere. I wouldn't have guessed her into that band.
They have a very loyal following up.

Speaker 6 (03:27):
And you know, I was like, Okay, my husband is
a very big Fish fan. Ah, a baseball player, but
he's also a drummer and he loves the jam bands.
And it was a giant fan of Fish and we've
seen them once before.

Speaker 5 (03:43):
But I was like, at the Sphere, I feel like
we have to be there. Yeah, and it was by
far one of the coolest concerts I've ever been to.

Speaker 4 (03:52):
Yeah, and that's such an awesome venue too.

Speaker 5 (03:55):
Gosh, it was so insane. It's just like the most
transportive concert experience.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
Yeah, Hey, that's cool. He's a drummer. I played the
drums growing up too, And I saw you.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
I think the last time I might have been at
a Dodgers game, yes, a while back.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
There are you are? You baseballed out, or you a
fan pryor.

Speaker 5 (04:14):
I wasn't necessarily a fan prior. I my dad used
to bring me to baseball games. But now I got
very invested and I actually understand the game now, I think,
which changes things. Before I was just kind of like,
I have no clue what's going on?

Speaker 6 (04:30):
Right?

Speaker 8 (04:30):
Right?

Speaker 9 (04:30):
Right?

Speaker 5 (04:31):
Good?

Speaker 4 (04:31):
Now I got it right on.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
Well, it's always so good to see you when I's
good to see you too. I hope to get to
see you in person again soon. Congratulations on everything, and
listen you can see the Goldfish performances at on with
Mario dot Com.

Speaker 4 (04:45):

Speaker 6 (04:47):
Thank you, I'm great to see you.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
Take care you're too sweety, Mario Lopez no secret that
we're always looking for something to celebrate.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
What's today's obscure holiday frasion?

Speaker 2 (04:57):
Today July eighth is math two point o day.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
Oo oh my gosh, a day to remind ourselves that
math is not just the boring subject you hated during
school because the world runs on numbers in mathematics.

Speaker 4 (05:10):
Fortunately, we have calculators on our phones now.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
I remember my math teacher. Mini math teacher said, you're.

Speaker 8 (05:16):
Not always gonna have a calculator on you. I didn't
predict the phones that we're gonna.

Speaker 4 (05:20):
Jokes on her.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
Not only that, sometimes when I don't even want to
use a calculator and I'm at dinner and the check comes,
I'm gonna I use the squeezer and since Siri Surri,
what's of four and thirty two?

Speaker 10 (05:34):
Right?

Speaker 4 (05:34):
And boom there.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
It is even even easier, even better.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
Alguar Lopez going to quickly squeeze in a few birthday
shout outs as always, Fraser's gonna tell us who's celebrating,
And I'm gonna see if I can guess.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Thee it he played the karate kid, He's Will and
Jada's son. He is Jaden Smith twenty six, twenty six
is correct? Wow, big Jayden Smith fan over there, I.

Speaker 4 (05:58):
Su very lucky.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
Sophia Bush from Chicago, Pet Sophia Bush.

Speaker 4 (06:03):
I'm gonna say is forty forty forty two almost mine
forty two as well?

Speaker 2 (06:10):
He felt like you were gonna say it.

Speaker 8 (06:12):
I was, Yeah, we had him on that too long ago.
From This is Aus from Heroes, Milo vent Emilia must
say Milo is forty eight forty seven. Beck, He's not
a loser, always saying and said he was fifty one,
fifty four, all right and from footloose, Kevin Bacon sixty two,
sixty six, Wow, all.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
Right more Mario Lopez coming up.

Speaker 4 (06:36):
Y'all Mario Courtney Lopez and Andy Collen is feeling left
out on with Mario.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
Hollywood was so The Bravos show Watch What Happens Live
has been on for fifteen years now, but Andy Cohen
says he's still not part of the late night conversation.
He says he'd like to be considered among guys like
Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Myers, and Stephen Colbert. And
he says he's not put on the same level because
he's not a comic, even though he's had guests like
Jennifer Lawrence and Meryl Streep.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Not a comic, but this request is hilarious. Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
I was very good. I feel like it's more of
a recap shows of all the housewives stuff.

Speaker 7 (07:13):
It is, and because it's been around so long, there
is a huge Bravo following, which is why people like
Jennifer Lawrence and Meryl Streep want to come on there.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
Fans of the showre.

Speaker 7 (07:24):
Fans of the shows on Bravo. But he's still in
the Caddy Caddy universe the show, so it is it's
a different caliber compared to Jimmy Fallon. It's it's just
a different thing, correct, So I'm not surprised that he's

(07:45):
not in with those other people for Late Night More.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
Mario Lopez on.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
The way, what a Mario Lopez here.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
We're gonna play some more music as today's guest makes
his way to the studio. He first made his name
on America's Got Talent, then again on AGT Fantasy League.
It's kind of Preacher Lost in his new special My
Name is Preacher Now Live.

Speaker 4 (08:04):
We're gonna find out about.

Speaker 9 (08:05):
It next.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
Sear Mario Lopez, don't even down the studio the very
funny stand up of comic but Man Preacher Lost in
Welcome to Show, Preacher.

Speaker 9 (08:25):
Hey, thanks for having me man. I appreciate this.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
Good to see you.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
You were a guest on my other show, and I
asked daily with my wife.

Speaker 4 (08:32):
Yeah, that day she was sorry she couldn't be here.
That was a good time.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
Congrats on your second special, My Name is Preacher. What
did you learn from the first special that you did?

Speaker 9 (08:43):
Different, man, What could I tell on camera or on
you say it all? We can learn a lot from
a first measure.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
We can learn bleep.

Speaker 9 (08:55):
No, I learned a lot, you know, not only just
like comic wise, business wise. I think that just got
better as a comedian. So I shot that in two thousand,
early twenty and nineteen, so I was a pre pandemic. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
I know. Yeah, so it was. I was ten years
in at that time. So yeah, so that was like,
you know, that was four years ago, four five years ago,

(09:18):
five years ago. Wows five years ago?

Speaker 4 (09:20):
Time flies?

Speaker 9 (09:21):
It was crazy, but it feels like three weeks. It
is crazy like pandemic was like last year for like
the last four years.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
Yeah, no, kidd man, Well you can watch My Name
Is Preacher on YouTube. Hold on, I got to play
more music. Yan Mario Lopez as my guest is stand
up Preacher Lawson whose new special is My Name is Preacher?

Speaker 4 (09:37):
And I love because I'm close to my mom.

Speaker 3 (09:39):
As a matter of fact, I just got off the
phone with her. You had your mom bring you on
stage and was she pretty.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
Comfortable up there?

Speaker 9 (09:45):
My mom opens for me, that's awesome. She opens for
me when I go on the road, she goes up,
she does time, she hosts the show, She brings up
the other comedians, brings me up, and she sells my merchandise.
She loves me.

Speaker 4 (09:57):
Hey, I'm all about keeping into the family.

Speaker 9 (09:59):
Yeah. Yeah, for you man, it's definitely cheaper.

Speaker 4 (10:03):
I think I asked you this before. But does it
throw a monkey wrench in your game or does it help?

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Oh?

Speaker 9 (10:09):
Yeah, yeah, you know what, I think it. I think
it both. You know, I think that when you work
with family, you know, it's always going to be like,
first off, when you work with anyone, it's always going
to be like kind of like weird, right, But family,
you know, it's a I think it's a you know,
it's a different dynamic because especially because she raised me
so like in the beginning, it was really hard trying

(10:31):
to convince her like, hey, you can't do that because
I said that, you know, you know, she she couldn't.
Like she's kind of like she's kind of like an employee,
you know, and it took a second for her to
like realize, like I'm your mom, you know, Like one
time she came sheet one time, you know, at the

(10:51):
end of the show, I have the T shirts I'm like, hey,
we got this T shirt and that T shirt. You know,
if you want to come afterwards and buy a T shirt,
take picture of whatever that, you know, you could do that.
And then she had like brand new T shirts like
her face on it, and I'm like, why would you
not say something to me earlier? You know? But I
just found out, Like I'm putting up the T shirts,

(11:13):
you know, I'm throwing it up like Simba, you know
what I mean, you know, and Lion King, and I
just have the shirt and it's her face and I'm like, what,
why would you give me a heads up? So like
just stuff like that, but you know, she's just really excited.
But yeah, I feel like it's just I don't know,
you know, it's weird sometimes sometimes it's not exactly exactly.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
Well, we got to take a little break. I'm gonna
have more a Preacher loss in coming up.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
Mario Lopez will be right back.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
Mario Lopez here hanging out in studio with comic Preacher losson.
And you were recently on AGT Fantasy League, the only
stand up comic invited on that was cool?

Speaker 5 (11:46):
Man?

Speaker 4 (11:47):
Did you like it second time around?

Speaker 9 (11:49):
More? Man? You know what I don't know if I
like it more. The first time is always the best, right, right,
and then going back is always great. And honestly, when
I'm like I'm never going back and then they're like, hey,
you want to come back, I'm like, I'm on my
way every time. I'm not going to say no TV.
That's crazy. It is my go on it and my
sales go up, my tickets everything. So they showed me

(12:09):
so much love and they like, you know, changed my life.
But uh, you know, everyone on their show is so
funny because everyone on their show then was established like
before you like, I need this. I am homeless, you know,
like everybody on the show had money. It's like weird
people just going on like yeah, I wouldn't have be dope,
but like, you know, honestly, I'm supposed to do by

(12:30):
next thirsime. So it was a different energy where it's like,
you like people you started with that were like super
broke or you know not is established and then years
later everyone's established. Yeah that's cool man, Yeah, it's really cool.

Speaker 4 (12:44):
That is cool man. All right, well, hang on, we
gotta play some more music.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
Mario Lopez here talking about a GT Fantasy League with
comic Preacher losson.

Speaker 8 (12:52):
How do you go into that with the mentality of
competing because you're doing comedy, but like someone could be
I don't know, following throwing.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
What is your mentality for a strategy there?

Speaker 9 (13:04):
Honestly, I don't do. My only strategy besides me just
doing my set, I just do it the you know,
the I do it normally. Uh is me trying to
interact with the judges. I feel like that's another set.
Like a lot of times, no one's gonna be juggling knives,
like I'm from Bulgarrett, you know, Like you're not gonna
be doing that. So that's this. So so I just

(13:27):
try to take that as another opportunity to try to
make the audience or people at the home or the
judges laugh. So that's my only strategic you know, point
of view. But uh, otherwise, I just do my set.
I'm like, they're gonna like me, They're not gonna be funny. Yeah,
I'm like, yeah, so.

Speaker 4 (13:42):
That's a good approach, right, They're smart. All right, let's
play more music.

Speaker 3 (13:46):
You're al mar Lopez got stand up Preacher Lost in
his studio with me is a new special.

Speaker 4 (13:51):
My name is Preacher I didn't know this.

Speaker 10 (13:53):
You got some mm A skills. What kind of training
did you do? Do we talk about this? I we
did to talk about this, but I know you do box.
I've seen you box Canelo, which I'll was like, that
is crazy, bro. I thought that was crazy because I
was like, I remember watching it.

Speaker 9 (14:06):
You had head gear on. I was like, that's not him.
Why would he be in there with Connel? But that
was that was pretty insane. But yeah, I do. I
do mm A, but not like I'm not trying to
lose any brain. So I just like to have fun
and training. Yeah. Yeah, I did some boxes smart yesterday
and you know so, but yeah, I love I love
mm A, you know, but I'm not. I'm just not

(14:27):
knowing's scared of me. I'm not scary bro. You know.

Speaker 4 (14:31):
So it's good to have to have, you know, and
it's great.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
Good.

Speaker 9 (14:34):
I want you been training.

Speaker 4 (14:35):
I've been training a while now.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
I do you know I grew up wrestling and you
were wrestling, yeah, and boxing and do jiu jitsus. I
kind of do all kind of yeah, so I got
my boys into it and stuff.

Speaker 9 (14:46):
So it's would you ever do like a match? I mean,
I've done some.

Speaker 3 (14:49):
I used to fight in smokers, which are like three
arnd fights all the time.

Speaker 9 (14:53):
But that's crazy.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
You did a competition last year, didn't you.

Speaker 4 (14:56):
Oh, well, that he was I thought he was talking
about boxing boxing.

Speaker 9 (14:58):
I did that.

Speaker 3 (14:59):
But I also compete now in jiu jitsu. But now
I've been a little bit injured as of later.

Speaker 9 (15:04):
Yeah, box you don't get injured as much as jiu jitsu.

Speaker 3 (15:07):
Well, it's weird because all my serious injuries have been
from boxing. Really yeah, but like tore my achilles, tore
my biceps towards shoulder, all this stuff. But that's throughout
the years. But in jiu jitsu it's little nagging things.
I got this pinch nerve.

Speaker 4 (15:21):
That's like killing me and stuff. It's just getting old.
Getting old sucks.

Speaker 9 (15:24):
Yeah, try to avoid it if you can't.

Speaker 4 (15:32):
That was awful advice I just got.

Speaker 3 (15:33):
Getting getting old is a privilege.

Speaker 4 (15:37):
Try to avoid acting old.

Speaker 3 (15:39):
Yeah, that's what I meant to say. Well, hey, you
got to take a break. But I got one more
thing to ask hold on more with Preacher Loss in
coming up?

Speaker 1 (15:46):
More Mario Lopez coming up?

Speaker 3 (15:49):
What are Mario Lopez here wrapping things that would Preacher
Loss and so, hey, you lived in a lot of
different places growing up.

Speaker 9 (15:55):
Yeah, man, I lived in a lot. Was that I
don't know, Man, my mom just moved and I was
a kid. I don't think I had I think if
I was paying bills, she would probably hear what I
had to thought think. But she was just like, you're
year eight, so getting the car. Yeah, but where we're at?

Speaker 10 (16:09):
Man?

Speaker 9 (16:10):
You know, I was born in Oregon. I moved to
like Texas when I was you know, I guess like
four or five, and I moved back to Oregon. And
then when I was nine, I moved to Memphis, Tennessee.
And then I'm when I was thirteen, I moved back
to Oregon. Then I moved back fourteen, I moved back
to Tennessee, and I was in Bristol, Tri Cities. No,
I mean it feels like that, right, I just I
just moved a lot.

Speaker 4 (16:30):
I think you were in the northwest Southeast coast.

Speaker 9 (16:33):
Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (16:34):
Do you have a favorite What do you call home?

Speaker 9 (16:36):
I don't call I mean, I would say Memphis is
the closest thing to home, but I'm really technically I'm
not from anywhere. It's just I just to avoid, like
trying to explain.

Speaker 4 (16:46):
You know, if you wear inn Oregon, you kept going
back to Oregon.

Speaker 9 (16:49):
I was. I was in Newburgh, I was in Portland.
I lived in Sherwood. So I just lived in a
bunch of different places. Yeah, but yeah, I know there's
no black people because I know you think of that.
He's like, what I'm looking at you. There's no way
I see something like yeah, the basketball player. You don't
just see it walking. So it's like five black people.

(17:09):
That's not true. There's four because I left, there's four
black people.

Speaker 4 (17:12):
And I will congratulations on everything. Best of mom, tell
her we have our love. Listen.

Speaker 3 (17:18):
Go to onw Maria dot com for tickets and tour
dates to the Best Day Ever Comedy Tour.

Speaker 9 (17:23):
Creature.

Speaker 4 (17:24):
Thanks for coming, man.

Speaker 9 (17:25):
Thank you so much for having me. I appreciate my treasure.

Speaker 11 (17:27):

my wife for Courtney's random question, what do you got
all right?

Speaker 7 (17:54):
The year is nineteen eighty seven.

Speaker 9 (17:57):
Oh, that was a good year.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
Goodyear, really what the whole decade was good and just oka.

Speaker 7 (18:02):
Just sounded like something specific happened. You can tell me
if because you probably were dating. I was only four.

Speaker 2 (18:08):
Four, uh maybe six.

Speaker 9 (18:11):
I was a little young.

Speaker 4 (18:11):
Couldn't even drive them.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
But go, well, you're.

Speaker 7 (18:13):
Trying to sneak into an R rated movie. Which one
do you choose? The Lost Boys, RoboCop, Predator or Full
Metal Jacket.

Speaker 3 (18:24):
The Lost Boys, which is probably one of my favorite
vampire movies because it was these young guys. You'll keep
for Sutherland. I think both the Corries were in it.
But it had a great soundtrack. Music was great, and
it was cool. They took place in Santa Cruz, California
at night, and it was it was It was like
a sexy cool movie. Yeah, back then.

Speaker 4 (18:45):
Robo Cop, I'd be sneaking into Robo Copy.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
I mean it was great, and I love Chroy Snaker
and The Predator, full metal jackets, a little hardcore for
a kid.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
Yeah, that's a kid.

Speaker 4 (18:53):
No, but The Lost Boys was like cool, that was
a cool flick.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
All right, Mario Lopez will be right back.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
What on Mario Courtney Lopez here quickly putting a spotlight
on my wife because it's time for Courtney's random thought?

Speaker 4 (19:06):
What do you got, honey?

Speaker 7 (19:07):
So first grade is wild though?

Speaker 9 (19:10):
Oh is it?

Speaker 7 (19:11):
It's like we threw ragers every day. No, no, no,
you're learning to be a human, how to write things down,
how to manage friendships, follow rules. All everybody's teeth are
falling out all over the place.

Speaker 4 (19:24):
That's true.

Speaker 7 (19:25):
Kind of, it's kind of like full circle because when
you get older, it's.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
Exactly right, and you're forgetting how to write things.

Speaker 3 (19:32):
Down, forget you have to learn, and you're so far
out and you've failed to mention. You're also learning how
to control your bladder. You get older, that's an issue too.

Speaker 2 (19:40):
It always comes back to the bathroom for you, doesn't it.

Speaker 4 (19:43):
I'm always top of mine, Top of mine.

Speaker 3 (19:46):
Music rolls on, Mario Courtney Lopez here, got one last
thing to get too shortly, so hanging time for that
in the meantime, if you got a song you want
to hear, I think we got time for another request
or two, so tweet it our way out on Mario
All Mario Lopez quickly digging into the bus because Drew
Carrey is talking retirement on.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
With Mario Hollywood Bus.

Speaker 9 (20:06):
So.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
Drew Carrey has been the host of The Price's Ride
for about seventeen years now. He took over after Bob
Barker retired in two thousand and seven. Drew, who is
sixty five now, was recently asked about his own plans
to retire, but he says no plans to leave the show,
drewing on to say he thinks Bob, who passed away
back in twenty twenty three, made a big mistake leaving

(20:26):
the show, adding that he plans to continue, quote as
long as my heart is ticking and.

Speaker 4 (20:31):
They want me to be on the show.

Speaker 3 (20:32):
Who's also asked and he had any advice for Ryan Secrets,
who's taken over Wheel of Fortune Alimi dot Com to
see what he had to say.

Speaker 1 (20:39):
Ask for Mario Lopez coming up.

Speaker 2 (20:42):
That's it for Monday.

Speaker 3 (20:43):
Want to quickly say thanks again to both Vanessa Hudgins
and Preacher Lawson for hanging out olimri dot com for
more of those chats. I'll be back tomorrow for more
radio fun. Mike Rowe will be here with a scoop
on this interesting new film he just dropped. Looking forward
to that till then, Mario Lopez saying good night
