Speaker 2 (00:24):
The best years in the nineties. He's the girls on.
You're On with Mario Lopez.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
You're a Mario Courtney Lopez. Let's take a look at
what's on TV today.
Speaker 4 (00:32):
Netflix Debut is a Good Girl's Guide to Murder. Five
years after the murder of a seventeen year old girl,
one student is determined to uncover the truth.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Good teen mystery. Okay, Amazon Premier's influenced.
Speaker 4 (00:45):
It's a talk show hosted by five of the biggest
social media influencers.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Ooh huh. Interesting.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
They've also got Batman Caped Crusaders, an animated series where
Batman is on the trail of a sadistic killer, but
the evidence leads him closer and closer to home.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Some of these animated shows have had incredible runs. Everybody
keeps telling me to watch that Star Wars animated one,
the Attack of the Clones or something.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
Clones. Oh, Clone Wars, Clone Wars. Yeah, Clone War. Your
son is disappointed.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
The point Clone Wars is supposed to be awesome. What

Courtney Lopez Time to learn a new live fact?
Speaker 2 (01:51):
What is the topic today at Courtney's Corner? Power outages?
We get those so much.
Speaker 4 (01:59):
Yes, And if you don't have a generator then I'm
gonna share a chip with you and pray for you. Yes, well,
here's how you can make sure that your food is
not spoiled. Okay, take a coffee mug, fill it with
water and put it in the freezer. Once it's frozen,
lay a quarter on top of the ice. Then, the
next time the power goes out for a lengthy amount
(02:20):
of time, take a look at the mug. If the
quarter is sitting at the bottom under the ice, that
means the food in your freezer thawed and froze again.
That means you should throw it out. But if the
quarter is still on top of the mug, you are
in the clear. This might be one of my best hacks.
(02:41):
This is an Olympic Gold metal hack.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
I like this.
Speaker 5 (02:44):
Good job.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
Come that for Mario Lopez.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Coming up, Mario Courtney Lopez here, today's guest will be
zooming in after a few more songs.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
It is my man acting icon Russell Crowe.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
This time though he's put down the oscar and picked
up a guitar and he's bringing his band to America.
We're going to find out all about it next Tabyl
Mario Lopez joining me now on Zoom Oscar winning actor
and the singer of Indoor Garden Party My Man, one
of my favorites.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Mister Russell Crow. Welcome to the show, sir. How are you.
Speaker 5 (03:14):
How you doing man, i'mruly good. I'm pretty good.
Speaker 6 (03:17):
We're like I think this is gig eighteen of twenty
eight or something like that. So we've been I mean,
we played glaston Rey Festival. We've been in Dublin, we
played Paris, we played at the Coliseum, we played at
the ancient Ambitheater and Pompeii ascle Piceno, Piacenze Vaisi. We
(03:37):
had twelve thousand people in Siena. So we've got five
more shows in Italy. But we've also been through England too.
We played in London, we played the Leeds, we played
in Vaness. We got five more shows in Italy and
then we come to America and we're do on both coasts.
We've be in New York, New Jersey, then Los Angeles,
then we go middle to Tulsa, Oklahoma. We go to Austin, Texas,
(04:00):
and then the tour finishes in New Orleans at Tippetina's.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
Jol Mario lopezz I got Russell Crow on Zoom with
me whose band is about to come to America and Russell.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
For those who may not be.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
Familiar with Indoor Garden Party, how would you describe the
band's sound.
Speaker 6 (04:19):
Well, we cross over a lot of different sort of
genres and grooves, man.
Speaker 7 (04:23):
You know, we we.
Speaker 6 (04:24):
Touched a little bit of gospel, We do some blues,
some country stuff, you know, some straight out rock and roll.
Speaker 5 (04:30):
You know.
Speaker 6 (04:30):
There's a couple of sort of singery songwritery moments in
the show as well, you know, but really, you know,
our main job is to make sure people have a
great time by the end of the night. You know,
we understand what that job is and that's what we
aim for.
Speaker 5 (04:43):
Man.
Speaker 6 (04:43):
So you know, there's a lot of stuff speckled out
through the speckles throughout the show that if you don't
necessarily know Indoor Garden Party, you will know that song,
you know. So, and we kind of adapt and our
mood a little bit too to where we're playing like
currently in it'll we finished and not you know, I
did this sort of jug gag with the audience.
Speaker 7 (05:04):
You know, Uh, we know a conzone, I go through
a conzoni Italiano. Hey, then we do it do a
song in Italian so yeah, so we haven't definitely having
fun with it.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Man, I've had that's really really cool.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
Will you get tickets and tour days for Indoor Garden
Party on with Mario dot Com? But hangtime, We're gonna
take a little break and come back with Russell Crowe.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
More fun on the Way on with Mario Lopez.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
Mario Lopez here hanging out with Russell Crowe on Zoom
with Me and was on tour with his band Indoor
Garden Party. And the new album is Pros and Cons.
What inspired these songs?
Speaker 6 (05:44):
Well, what I wanted to do was an album that
sort of balanced out between originals and cobbos. So the
pros p o O s E is for stands for
the originals, and the cons stands for the covers. You know,
a lot of these songs it's just, you know, the
same sort of thing happens in your life. You observe something,
you know, you go through a certain situation, and you
(06:05):
know the way to process that is that eventually comes
out as a song, you know. So I've been working
on this album probably since twenty nineteen, when I was
shooting The Loudest Voice.
Speaker 5 (06:16):
In New York.
Speaker 6 (06:16):
I started I wrote the first couple of songs for
the album then and it's just you know, taken that
amount of time through COVID. We've got a recording. We're
hanging out together a bunch. But we didn't do any shows.
But then last year we did a big tour of Australia.
We did like twenty five shows in Australia, then Malta
and a couple of shows in Italy, and those shows
(06:37):
were the impetus for us coming back to Italy this year.
I think we're doing like fifteen concerts in total in Italy.
That we also did England, like I said, in Scotland
and Ireland, and we played in France too.
Speaker 5 (06:48):
It's cool.
Speaker 6 (06:48):
I actually I'm really interested to get back to American
meta because I haven't played live in America. I if
I stop and think about it, I think the last
time I toured America would have been twenty twelve.
Speaker 5 (07:03):
So it's a bit a minute twelve years ago. It's crazy.
That's crazy, all.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
Right, Russell, hang on a moment, we gotta play some
more music. What Amara Lopez. He've got Russell Crowe on
zoom with me, who has been indoor garden party is
about to come to America and I know you recently
performed with Andrea Bocelli. That must have been very very
cool bit of a high pressure moll imaginably.
Speaker 6 (07:22):
A couple of years ago, he called me and he said,
would I like to come and do this thing? And
it just so happened. I was actually on holiday with
my kids, and you know, we don't really get that
much time together, you.
Speaker 5 (07:34):
Know, between school and all that sort of stuff. Lost
in mere.
Speaker 6 (07:39):
So I kind of examined it, and you know, I
could understand it. There's a you know, a great opportunity
and a privilege to be asked and everything. But I
had to call him back and say, listen, man, I'm
just going to stick with the kids, all right.
Speaker 5 (07:53):
I'm sorry, you.
Speaker 6 (07:54):
Know, And I said, look, you know, maybe if you know,
in the future you want to do this, just you know,
give me a little bit more time. So almost immediately
I got a formal invitation and a.
Speaker 5 (08:04):
Date for like a year and a bit off.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
Wow.
Speaker 6 (08:07):
And so this time around, I made it, you know,
and it was so cool man, the top of a
mountain in Tuscany at the Ancio and I go out
and do a song and you know, my piano player
is Andre Bicelli.
Speaker 5 (08:22):
Wow, you know it's pretty special.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
That is pretty I.
Speaker 5 (08:26):
Just heard the audio from it today too.
Speaker 6 (08:28):
And even in the middle of the tour and all
the logistical craziness with transport and car rides and economy
flights because it's you know, it's ban doll the time,
my voice held up pretty well for the concerts.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
I have nice Well, I want to talk a little
bit about your movies, but first I was play some music.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
Jo Mario Lopez.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
My guest today is Russell Crowe, and we've been talking
about your band but in the works as well during.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
All this tour.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
And you also have a film called roth Goo where
you play painter Mark roth Is. I think you can
tell me I haven't.
Speaker 6 (09:01):
I haven't done that. I haven't done that yet. That
hasn't been set up yet that they've been talking about
that for a number of years.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
Got it.
Speaker 6 (09:06):
I'm still connected to it, but they haven't done it.
But what's cool at the moment is last week I
had a number one film on Netflix, Land of Bad. Yes,
currently it's about it's number three in the world. But
also on Hulu. I have another one of my movies
called Sleeping Dogs as number one. Later on in the year,
We've got the big Marble Sony Dark Universe film, Craven
(09:29):
the Hunter.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
The Hunter player, Russian Spider Man dylin right, Spider Man Vilain.
Speaker 5 (09:35):
What was that?
Speaker 2 (09:36):
Spider Man Villain.
Speaker 7 (09:39):
The Hunter.
Speaker 6 (09:39):
Craven the Hunter is yes, yeah, but I play his father.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
Oh got it?
Speaker 6 (09:43):
Okay, So I'm I'm Superman's dad. I'm I'm for God
of Gods, yes, and I'm also the father of Craven
the Hunter.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
That makes perfect sense because all those characters need to
have some gravitas or they need someone like it.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
Perfect sense, Like, I totally get it with the casting.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
Well, I got one more thing I want to ask you,
but we've got to take a break. We're going to
come back and wrap it up with Russell Crowe in
just a moment.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
You're the full interview now on with Mario donc more
Mario Lopez on the way.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
Mario Lopez Here, we're wrapping things up with actor Russell Crowe,
and real quick, before you go, what are your feelings
on the Gladiator sequel?
Speaker 6 (10:17):
Russell, Well, let me tell you about another thing that
I did earlier this year, which is okay, exciting and
We'll get to that in a second.
Speaker 5 (10:24):
You got it. We shot a movie called Nuremberg, which
is about.
Speaker 6 (10:28):
The war, the trials, the will war crime trials at
the end of the Second One War, and I play
Herman Gern. So that is We're a whole bunch of
absolutely fantastic actors. Man, You've got Romi Malick, Michael Shannon,
Richard E Grant, Marker Bryan the New Finlander.
Speaker 5 (10:47):
You've got Leo Woodall. It's just a fantastic cast.
Speaker 6 (10:50):
Really looking forward to what we did with that because
it felt very intense while we were shooting it. You know,
I've really got no publicly discussable opinion. I'm a near gladiator,
you know. I mean, and I say it like that
because I've been asked. I haven't been asked to participate
(11:14):
or discuss this in any way, So I have no
idea where they've taken the plot, how they've set.
Speaker 5 (11:22):
Things or whatever. You know.
Speaker 6 (11:24):
You know, I mean, kind of a difficult situation to
be in, man, because every man and his dog are
asking me fifty thousand questions about it, and I just
don't know, you know, I just Askimus passed away. He's
six foot under.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
Yeah, I so appreciate you taking the time. Congratulations, good
luck with the rest of the tour. I look forward
to seeing you live in August at the Whiskey Ago
right here in La and listen. You can find tickets

when he crashed into a car at a red light.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
So sweet?
Speaker 4 (13:50):
This is from at Paul Jansen's and they said your
daughter did you dirty with that trustfall? That is elder abuse.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
That's sweet, that's not sweet.
Speaker 4 (14:02):
I was joking because she's calling you an elder.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
Oh, thanks a lot.
Speaker 4 (14:06):
I was being facetious.
Speaker 3 (14:07):
Paul Jansen's is referring to a video I posted recently
where my daughter had me do a trust fall and
she let me fall on my butt and said, don't
trust guys, trust God.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
And she was laughing through the whole thing, and he
literally fell.
Speaker 4 (14:22):
But what made me mad?
Speaker 2 (14:23):
I thought one of my dogs. That the two poor.
Speaker 4 (14:25):
Dogs were under his feet and scrambled and I don't
care about you. I was worrying about the dog.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
Thanks.
Speaker 4 (14:31):
I'm just gonna say, that's the first thing I saw
when I woke up today and it made me laugh.

on more Mario Lopez on the.
Speaker 3 (14:40):

I'll be sure to tell mine, Hi, that is a joke. No, no,
that was a joke. She was supposed to laugh. Gosh,
no humor here, We've got no humor. Next and back
to the music we go.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
What on Maria Lopez, Here was some quick buzz for you.

Courtney's random question.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
What you got, honey? All right?
Speaker 4 (15:33):
So our kids are becoming more and more musical as
they get bigger and older. What genre do you want
them to avoid practicing in the house?
Speaker 2 (15:42):
Listen.
Speaker 3 (15:42):
I'm just happy when they're practicing. I don't care if
they're doing folk music, polka, It doesn't matter as.
Speaker 2 (15:51):
Long as I'm still rapping.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
He was rapping a little bit before, not as much,
not as much. He's been getting into the drums lately.
He's been playing the drums and he continue with piano.
The other day he went from piano, drums, to kickboxing
to wrestling all on one day right there. So he's
a little renaissance man.

What Amorrow, Courtney Lopez. Here was some quick buzz for you.
Speaker 3 (16:37):
The Oscars are having a tough time finding a host.
Jimmy Kimmel and comic John mulaney have both turned down
the gig. Kimmel says the job's easier when everyone's seen
the nominated movie. So far this year, there haven't been
a lot of ten pole movies besides Inside Out two
and Deadpool in Wolverine, which of course is rated R,
and Inside Out too is an animated film. Jimmy Kimmel
(17:01):
works for ABC, so I'm surprised that he turned it
down because it's on the same network.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
It's sort of a win win.
Speaker 4 (17:08):
Yeah, but that's also I'm sure, it's a tough gig.
It's kind of like you can't win either way, So
it's do you want do you want to? Is it
worth it?
Speaker 1 (17:19):
You know?
Speaker 2 (17:19):
Well there's that yore Mario Corney Lopez time not for
one last thing.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
Egyptian fencer not a huffis should get a special medal
from the Olympics. She made it to the round of
sixteen while she was seven months pregnant. Wow, I posted
about this.
Speaker 5 (17:35):
She is a boss.
Speaker 3 (17:35):
She ultimately didn't make it to the metal rounds, but
says it was the most memorable of her three Olympic Games.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
Can you imagine that's for long?
Speaker 4 (17:42):
I don't know how she did. It must have just
been the adrenaline with knowing that you know, this was
happening now and she had no other choice but to
power through. But kudos to her.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
Also fencing, you give him a bigger target if you're pregnant.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
Exactly more Mario Lopez on the way out here.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
But I'm back tomorrow with actor Zachary Levi. Plus we're
gonna have your first look at everything new hit in
theaters and streaming. Until then, this is Mario Lopez saying

Speaker 1 (18:09):
