Yon Mario Courtney Lopez.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Let's take a look at what's on TV today.
Speaker 5 (00:50):
Apple TV has Cowboy Cartel to talk about a rookie
FBI agent who uncovers a massive money laundering operation in
American horse racing.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
Ooh, I'm gonna I'm going to mention this to our neighbor,
our neighbor, Bob Baffert. I think he'll like this. I
want to check it out too. Going on the sink.
Speaker 5 (01:07):
History Channel has Ancient Aliens Declassified, a four hour special
about flying discs seen in past cultures from around the world.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
I'm not a UNIFO guy, uap guy.
Speaker 6 (01:19):
You put it on Nickels Sinc.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
Yeah, Nichols, Yeah, that's how you play.
Speaker 5 (01:22):
And a and he has tell me how I died.
A medical examiner thinks there's more than meets the eye
when a mother of three is found unconscious beneath her
second story window. You know really quick. I watched something
on Netflix. It was stories about people who died and
came back to life.
Speaker 6 (01:36):
It was, oh, I know what it is. Yeah, No,
that that whole series is amazing. It's a bunch of
different episodes.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
It's incredible.
Speaker 5 (01:44):
I was doing their school supplies and like putting their
names on it. So it was in the background.
Speaker 6 (01:49):
But it's after death or something.
Speaker 3 (01:52):

Yeah, exactly, Yamaro, Courtney Lopez, Andy Cohn ready for a
Real Housewives revamp on.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
With Mario Lopez Hollywood.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
But oh, we were just talking about this, honey. The
current season of the Real Housewives of New Jersey has
been a mess. There was no reunion. Some of the
cast members won't even be in the same room together.
So Andy's had enough. He's real that the franchise is
going to get a reboot for next season. No concrete
plans yet, but he may introduce a completely new cast
or just keep.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
Teresa, Judice.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
Teresa and Dolores Cantonia have been part of the show
for all fourteen seasons, which one's Dolores.
Speaker 5 (02:37):
I like Dolores, but people are getting annoyed with her
right now. Look this this franchise, it confuses me because
they want drama, but then it turns really ugly.
Speaker 6 (02:49):
They almost created all of this, and now they're going,
we're gonna boot you.
Speaker 5 (02:51):
Out, and then and then yes, they want them to
act this way, and then they're like, now you're fired.
You know, I just I don't know the viewer. I
just don't know exactly what they're looking for.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Well, they got to get them together in the same room.
If they're refusing that, then you can't film.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
Then you have no show. So that's a major problem.
Speaker 5 (03:11):
Well that's your producer head talking more.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Mario Lopez on the way, Mario Lopez.
Speaker 2 (03:16):

She is back home now after being hospitalized for a
fractured pelvis.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
Ouch. That sounds very painful.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
She had hip replacement surgery earlier in the months or
her body was already weakened, but she tripped and fell,
which caused the new injury.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
Oh, bless her heart.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
Hope she's back on her feet soon. What at Mario
Lopez here? Today's guest is the star of the new
movie Harold and the Purple Crayon. It's actor Zachary Levi.
(06:45):
He's hoping this is gonna be the next big family film.
We're gonna find out all about it after a few
more songs.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
It's brill Mario Lopez joining me now on.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
Zoom from the new movie Harold and the Purple Crayon
actor Zachary Levi.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
Welcome to the show man.
Speaker 4 (06:58):
How you been, Mario? How you doing looking great?
Speaker 3 (07:01):
Thank you my friend.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Likewise, I saw the trailer and it looks so cute
this film. Congratulations. Harold and the Purple Crayon. Definitely going
to take the kids.
Speaker 7 (07:11):
What's it about, Well, it's based on the children's book.
I don't know if you ever read the children's book
when you were a kid, or if your kid's yeah,
but it's a really cute, simple, but really kind of
profound children's book. It was written by Krokat Johnson back
in the fifties and just continues to be a beloved
children's book and piece of ip and a lot of
(07:33):
people to try to make it into a movie over
the years, and we finally did it, and I get
to be this kind of grown up version of Harold.
He you know, in the book, he's like this little
kid in footy pajamas and he's using his creativity and
imagination to draw things that they come to life, and
he learns lessons along the way, and at the beginning
of the movie you see that version of him. But
then he grows up in this animated world, and then
(07:53):
the narrator, his you know, kind of god character, really
just disappears, and he gets very worried, and he knows
that the narrator lives in the real word world, and
so Harold goes on this big adventure to the real
world to go find the narrator and see what's going on.
And when he does, he goes from living in this
purple animated two dimensional world and now living in this
(08:13):
technicolor three dimensional real world. And then it's this this
crazy juxtaposition because in Harold's world, there's no real pain,
there's no real suffering or sadness or fear or anger.
And now he's in the real world and we know
that's you know, the real world's full of a lot
of those things. And so he's thrown into that and
he's learning what pain is for the first time, but
(08:35):
also all of the depth that comes with that and
the learning and the growing and him and his friends
that go along on the journey. So you know, at
the end of the day, the movie it's you know,
it's fun for the whole family, you know, really silly fun.
The kids, I think definitely will thoroughly enjoy it. My
nephews were raving about it. So if it means anything,
my nephews think it's fantastic.
Speaker 4 (08:54):
And but it you know, we.
Speaker 7 (08:56):
Really hit the you know, the movie really wants to
leave the audience feeling inspired, to stay creative, to stay imaginative,
and to value yourself, to really believe in yourself and
know that at the end of the day, you are
worthy of believing in yourself and valuing that.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
Well, that's a great, great message. Harold and the Purple
Crayon is in theaters now, hoole. Tight got to take
a little break, but we're gonna come back with Zachary
Levi just a moment.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
More fun on the way on with Mario Lopez.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
Mario Lopez, you're talking about the new movie Harold and
the Purple Crayon with actor Zachary Levi.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
And as a fun cast too, you got Lil.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
Rel, Jermaine Clemens, Zoey Deschanel and you know, Zach. Family
movies are really having a big year at the box
office with Inside Out too to Spickle with Me four
And you're no stranger to family movies.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
I think I may have told you before that.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
Tangled was the number one movie at Costa Lopez for years,
and you were great as a Flyinn Ryder, and.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
It was one I didn't mind watching over and over again.
Speaker 4 (10:00):
Genius movie, man, I mean it really is. It's so good.
Speaker 7 (10:03):
Yeah, they did a great job with that movie. And
I was and as a kid growing up with you know,
Disney dreams my whole life, I always dreamed that I
would be in a Disney animated musical, and then I
got to be in one, and not just any like
it was a banger of Disney, of a Disney musical,
and so I was really grateful for that journey. And yeah,
and you know, and even Shazam, though not like kid
kid like I guess, you know, I don't know. It
(10:25):
was more peag thirteen, but still family entertainment. And now
with Harold, you know, I do hope that it's something
that families want to go out and spend time in
a theater because you know, I mean, it's like watching
something at home.
Speaker 4 (10:39):
You can do that. We can all do that.
Speaker 7 (10:40):
And home entertainment systems have gotten so good that it's like,
you know, they're they're great. It's a great way to
watch something. But when you watch something in a theater,
you really get to experience it with a bunch of strangers.
And I think one of the coolest things about it
is that you laugh together, you pry together, you feel
these things together, and it reminds you, oh, I don't
know these people sitting to my right, left, or behind me,
(11:02):
or in front of me, but we're all connected. We
all are we all feel in very similar ways, regardless
of our backgrounds.
Speaker 4 (11:10):
I mean, by the way, Inside Out Too is a
perfect example of that. I think, what an.
Speaker 7 (11:14):
Incredible movie that was, and but dives deep into all
of that emotional spectrum. I mean, men, I felt like
I was going to therapy when I watched that movie.
I literally cried so much.
Speaker 4 (11:23):
I was sitting in you. My girlfriend was looking at
me like saying, are you okay.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
I'm like I'm okay, okay, Well, Zach hold on a second,
got to play some more music.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
What al Mario Lopez here?
Speaker 2 (11:32):
My guest today is Zachary Levi from Harold and the
Purple Crayon and also in the works a thriller called
Not Without Hope.
Speaker 3 (11:40):
What can you tell us about that?
Speaker 4 (11:41):
Yeah? Yeah, Not without Hope? We shot that? When did
we shoot that? Last summer? Maybe? I don't know. Time
flies right now. Without Hope is a true story.
Speaker 7 (11:52):
It's a a true story about these four guys who
went fishing off the coast of Florida in two thousand
and nine and had a very unfortunate incident where they
capsized their boat and a storm rolled in and three
of those four gentlemen ended up dying.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
Remember this yes, yes, yes, yes, yeah.
Speaker 4 (12:09):
And two of them were NFL football players.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
Yes, yes, yes, this was adible story. I can believe it.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (12:15):
The guy I ended up playing, the one gentleman who
survived and who wrote a book about his experience.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
He was sick, right, and I remember he was sick,
and he had.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
A jacket, the big orange jacket, A big orange jacket.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
Yes, I remember this.
Speaker 7 (12:27):
Twenty five minutes away from also passing away, like the
fact that he ended up being just clinging to the
whole of this overturned boat. Yeah, and the helicopter the
storm had finally passed enough and they saw the basically
like teeny little white that was the whole of the
overturned boat, and they could just tell different from the
white caps of the ocean.
Speaker 4 (12:48):
And they found him and they saved him. That it's
it's a harrowing story.
Speaker 7 (12:51):
It's a really I mean, it is quite the opposite
of a Herald in the Purple Crandon. It's definitely not
for kids, and it is a really intense movie.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
I can't wait to check that out.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
Man.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
Well, I got one more thing I want to ask you,
but first it's got to play some more music.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
You're a Mario Lopez rapping things up with actor Zachary LEVI.
We were talking about your upcoming movie Not With That Hope,
based on the true story of Nick Schuyler.
Speaker 3 (13:14):
Did you ever get to meet him?
Speaker 1 (13:16):
I did.
Speaker 7 (13:16):
I Actually, he came to visit set and I got
to talk to I talked to him before we started
shooting and got to pick his brain a little bit about,
you know, kind of what the experience was. And then
he came and visited set, which was really interesting because
it was quite literally, I mean, he's there, his wife
was there, and they're they're watching us portray his friends
(13:38):
basically dying. I was like, I don't know, I don't
know if I was him that I would be there.
That's just like reliving visiting, right, But but maybe there
was something that was cathartic for him then, because it's
like closure or something things happened, and in order to
really heal through trauma, you have to allow yourself to
go there and and and metabolize it, you know, and
(13:59):
and release. And so maybe I hope that this is
something that helps in that journey, you know.
Speaker 3 (14:03):
Oh, I can't wait to check it out.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
Man.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
Well, congratulations on everything. Meanwhile, Harold and the Purple Crayon
is in theaters now.
Speaker 3 (14:10):
Be sure to check it out. Zach, thanks for hanging out, man.
Speaker 4 (14:13):
Thanks Mario, good to see you.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
You're the full interview now at On with Mario Doug

Speaker 2 (14:20):

this is the ninetieth ice cream thing day that we've
had all week.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
Summertime is perfect for ice cream holidays. And I love

the little brown wafer deal. That's amazing. And you know
I love my vanilla It's It's or the Klondike bars.
I'm a very ice cream sandwich guy. Mario Lopez here,
and let's take a look at what's trending on the
iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 6 (14:51):

went to Paris. Search for the village to hear that.

Speaker 3 (15:16):
Y'a a Mario Courtney Lopez.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
Not for another fake debate where the topics are made
up on the spot, but the passion is completely real.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
Who's prone? Who's cond day?
Speaker 5 (15:23):
I was pro last time?
Speaker 6 (15:25):

ten second rebuttal afterwards, Courtney, you will be con Mario,
you will be pro.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
Okay.
Speaker 6 (15:34):
Your topic today in the fake debate is Miley Cyrus.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
Miley Cyrus is one of my favorite Disney alums.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
She has always stayed true to who she is.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
I've liked her since Hannah Montanna Day's and she has
transitioned from a former child actor to.
Speaker 3 (15:54):
Now one of the hottest pop stars in the world.
Speaker 6 (15:55):
Go Miley, Courtney, you're against Miley Cyrus.
Speaker 5 (16:00):
She might have come a long way, but all I
can see is when she stuck her tongue out and
was disgusting.
Speaker 6 (16:06):
Didn't you mean the whole fifteen Wow?
Speaker 1 (16:09):
Wow?
Speaker 3 (16:09):
First of all, that's not that provocative.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
Second of all, the thing I like about Miley is
she's incredibly original. She doesn't sort of bend to any norms,
and she looks like she's always having a good time.
Speaker 3 (16:21):
Doesn't take it serious.
Speaker 5 (16:23):
You know what, Mario, you only liked her because you
stole her craft services.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
First of all, I stole Hannah Montana's craft service. Miley Cyrus,
I love.
Speaker 1 (16:33):
You, Miley.
Speaker 6 (16:33):
This is just a game. My kid, I kid, I kid.
We all love Miley more.
