Speaker 2 (00:03):
Here we go Thursday edition of On with Mario. Courtney
Lopez got incredible guests joining us. The youngest female egot
in history, Jennifer Hudson is going to be on to
talk holiday music, memories and.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
More, plus a helpful holiday life hack, a random question,
and just a few songs away from our throwback soundtrack
in honor of Throwback Thursday. So turn it up and
let's get festive.

Speaker 4 (00:27):
This Friday.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Gotta tune in as iHeart Radio teams that with Megan
Trainer for an iHeartRadio holiday pop up party.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
Mario and Courtney Lopez here.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Every year we light up the Empire State Building for
the holidays, syncing the music to a new holiday song.
In this year, it is Megan's jingle Bells.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Megan and a few fans will join us at the
Empire State Building for an intimate Q and A and
to officially flip the switch this Friday. Listen live on
iHeart Christmas Pop on our free iHeartRadio app, or hit
up on with Mario dot com to find out more.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
Mario Lopez, here was some quick buzz for you. Thirty
two time Grand AMMI winner Beyonce giving us a little
gift on Christmas Day.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Netflix just announced that Queen Bee will be the halftime
performer during the Christmas Day NFL game between the Ravens
and Texans in Houston.

Speaker 4 (01:11):
That's a stock and stuff for all. Right, let's get
back to the music. You're all Mario, Courtney Lopez, those
other helpful holiday lifetack what you got in Courtney's corner, honey.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
So this is the four gift role for kids during
the holidays, and this is destined to keep everybody happy.
And I think it's really great for adults too. You
get them one thing that they want, one thing that
they need, and as a parent, we know what they
need more than they know what they need, one thing
they'll wear, okay, and one thing that they read.

Speaker 4 (01:43):
I like that rule.

Speaker 5 (01:45):
More details and on with Mario dot Com. Happy Holidays
from the entire on with Mario fam More festive fun
coming up.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
Mario Courtney Lopez here keeping the music. Infestive fun coming
your way.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Speaking of festive fun, what if it's your holiday we
sellbrating today?

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Well, this is I think one that you have invented.
It is a National Regifting Day.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
I've slipped on my gifting. I used to be a
big regifter. I haven't been regifting as.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
Much lately and hardly at all.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
I'm disappointed in myself.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
You should be.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Although we did get some bottles of wine and baskets
that we're going to be regifting, so.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
Look at that.

Speaker 6 (02:23):
We're coming future regifting. It's really nice. Nice stuffifts are nice.
You don't regift bad things, they're all good things. And
you're also blatant about it. You don't care that people
know you can regift. That's why I opened something up
when I had a logo, right, as long as it's new.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
Though, as long as it's new, you can't be regifting. Like, no,
you can't give old stuffs. That's bad.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
I'mar Courtney Lopez. Just the season for holiday parties and gatherings.
But the age old question, how do you politely get
your guests to leave when the party is over?

Speaker 6 (02:54):
Get out?

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Well, we have no shame over Acossa Lopez. We just
say hey, everyone, get your kids, start heading out the door.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
We're wrapping it up.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
But Martha Stewart broke down exactly what to do recently
on The Drew Barrymore Show.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
What was Martha's go to move, honey.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
She just says, I'm going to bed and I'll see you.
And if that doesn't work, she suggests turning off the
lights or even setting off the fire a lot.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
It's aggressive, she says.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
One time the fire department did actually show up. You
go to bed all the time and leave me, and well,
I feel bad.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
You can't have as a couple.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
As a couple, you both can't go to bed because
people just be chilling in your house all yeah. Like
people may not leave, especially my parties and yeah friends,
they will stay there all night.

Speaker 6 (03:33):
They'll be on your pool until three am.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
And here's the thing. We're going to a Christmas party tonight.
There's an end time we're big on, like now when
we have birthdays and stuff we do in end time.
People still don't listen.

Speaker 4 (03:44):
Because the family things. It doesn't apply to them.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
Exactly, but it does. We still don't want you here.
We're tired.

Speaker 6 (03:50):
What if you have like a banner and then when
it gets like really close to the time, you just
unravel it and it drops and goes get out.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
I tell people that, like, hey, all right, got wrap
it up, everybody.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
Let's yeah, Well, now I know who not to invite.
There's people that I don't invite anymore because they don't leave.

Speaker 6 (04:07):
So just be direct.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
On Mario Courtney Lopez Love hearing from you.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
On with Mario on ex and Facebook at on with
Mario Lopez on Instagram.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
Who's this from, honey?

Speaker 3 (04:18):
This is from at Sierra Knight And they said they
should do a calculator app rep where it shows you
the dumbest calculations you did throughout the year, real more
on stuff like twenty percent off of twenty or one
times eight or six plus nine. That's actually pretty funny
because I do everything just to make sure I'm right

(04:39):
in my calculator.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
Are you kidding?

Speaker 7 (04:41):
So?

Speaker 4 (04:41):
Do why? Or I'll talk to Siri. Siri, what is yea?

Speaker 2 (04:45):
Make her do the forty two dollars or whatever the
case is. Yeah, exactly, I'll do it on the slide.

Speaker 6 (04:50):
I don't know if you're aware of this.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
Did you try again?

Speaker 5 (04:52):
No?

Speaker 6 (04:53):
Sirie series on points serious trying serious, Shrine, but no,
I uh. I've noticed recently that the new software update
it actually does keep all of your calculations in a
list until you clear them, almost like an Internet history finding.
So you should probably go in and delete that real quick.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
You can't get away with anything.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
Everything's a digital footprint.

Speaker 5 (05:14):

Welcome to the show, Jennifer, Thank you for having me. Well,
it's my pleasure. You know, I'm thinking back.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
It all started about twenty years ago right on island,
and has it stopped. Did you ever think like this,
this kid from Chicago would be in this position to
win every major award, you know what?

Speaker 7 (07:49):
I feel like God always have a little bit more
in store than what you ask for. I could have
never imagined this. I dreamed of winning Grammys. So to
win an Oscar before Grammy and then everything else will
come beIN me. Tony the eguy is insane.

Speaker 2 (08:02):
Has blessings on blessings right there and this thing the show,
which is a great time. I've had the honor being

Speaker 4 (08:11):
And what's the secret over there?

Speaker 2 (08:14):
You having I know you're always having fun, but as
it are you now you found a groove you really
like it?

Speaker 3 (08:19):
I do?

Speaker 7 (08:20):
I do. I have found that groove. And it's just
like a family vibe around here, which is the type
of energy I love to always have around. And so
the crew and the staff is amazing, like the guests
is insane. So we just have a good time. We
just want to celebrate everybody and we're blessed to do
that for the third Sea.

Happy Holidays from the entire on with Mario fam more
fest and fun coming up.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
Back to Jennifer Hudson, who's on Zoom with us Mario Lopez. Here,
let's talk about your first Christmas album, The Gift of Love.

Speaker 4 (08:53):
What motivated this?

Speaker 7 (08:56):
Oh my goodness, Yes, The Gift of Love is my
new holiday album, which is out right now. I am
a holiday fanatic, so I was excited to be able
to share my holiday traditions now with the world through music.
What better gift to give than music, which is why
it's called The Gift of Love. And I feel like
whatever song you like on that album is like my
holiday gift to you.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Well, there's fifteen songs on her, a lot of traditional favorites.
One of the songs Santa to Someone.

Speaker 4 (09:22):
It's a cool title. Tell me about that.

Speaker 7 (09:24):
That's an original, Yes, santat to Someone. That's an original
song that's on the Holiday album, which is like, I
don't know, I feel like I feel like the album
is from perspective, like we all have to go through
the holiday season, whether we love it or not, you
know what I mean. And so it's like or it's
different things we're experiencing, and that one is like, we
get to be Santa Claus to someone. You know, we're
getting gifts for the kids, we get gifts for our

(09:45):
loved ones, so we get to play Santa Claus. And
it's hectic doing those things. So what about that energy?
How about we put that in a song? And so
that's Santa for someone.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
Jeffer Hudson is on Zoom with Us talking about her
new holiday album and another song you collab with fellow
Grammy winner comment for another original, Almost Christmas, How wasn't
worry on common.

Speaker 7 (10:06):
Oh goodness, I love working would come in like we
kind of put our traditions together or yeah, now our
own thing. So I wanted the hommage of like holiday
storytelling to be a part of the album. I raally
hear that on holiday albums. So that's what he came
in to play it, and I'm like, why don't you
do your version of tours the night before Christmas? And

(10:27):
so that's where Almost Christmas came from.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
Okay, and Ryan Tedder from One Republic, I know, served
as EP of the album and produced a lot of
the tracks. Yes, man, he's really like he's got his
hands on a lot of stuff right there.

Speaker 4 (10:40):
How was that experience with him?

Speaker 7 (10:42):
Brian Teddler, It's a dream to always work with him, Like,
he's one of my favorite artists and producers, So to
have him spear hit this album was amazing, you know,
and it allowed me so much space. It's the most
fun that I have ever had doing any album, to
be honest.

Speaker 4 (10:59):
Rob, but I would of Hudson.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
You're on with Mario Lopez and what famous person do
you think would be the most fun to spend the
holidays with?

Speaker 7 (11:06):
Ooh, coming ah, that was Greick?

Speaker 4 (11:12):
All right? What would your elf name be?

Speaker 7 (11:15):
Oh my god, what would my elf name be?

Speaker 4 (11:18):
I don't even know what that really means.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
But ginger elf, I get it, Yes, Ginger, yes, j
e ed, I get it.

Speaker 4 (11:28):
Nice.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
What was the what was the coolest gift you got
as a kid growing up?

Speaker 7 (11:33):
You know what it was? I don't know if I
should pick the Barbie Susie scribbles?

Speaker 4 (11:38):
Susie scribbles? Is that a dog? Scripples?

Speaker 7 (11:41):
Oh my god? She had a desk, she had a
pen and she would sit there and write yes, srible,
she reallyly scribbled. That was Oh and then the the
recorder from Home Alone because that's my favorite holiday movie.

Speaker 4 (11:56):
Yeah, that was my question.

Speaker 7 (11:57):
Okay, wait talk talk Oh my god, that was the
best gift too. And then the bike, but it was
too cold to ride it in Chicago in the winter,
so it's kind of like you had to wait till
the summ of the rip.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
Yeah, dang, I just got your whole Christmas list. And
then my next question was your favorite holiday movie?

Speaker 4 (12:16):
But Home Alone?

Speaker 7 (12:16):
Yeah, that's a classic, hands down Home Alone one and two.
And to the point to this day, we go during
the holiday season and stand in front of the Home
Alone house.

Speaker 4 (12:30):
Oh is that it? Where's that house at Chicago?

Speaker 7 (12:33):
Okay, this is Chicago where I'm from, so you know,
part of the tradition.

their holiday traditions. Fifteen holiday songs. Just waiting for you,
