Speaker 1 (00:00):
Please, you're on with Mario.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Lopez halfway through the week. What O, Mario? Courtney Lopez
here back behind the mic, excited to get to hang
with you for the next few hours. Great guests joining
us as well, actor in comic John Leguizamlo, who's got
a new show over on Apple TV to tell us about.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Plus we'll serve up some fresh justice in Courtney's court,
dig into the buzz to see what's trending. And we're
just a few songs away from honoring a good deed.
So turn it up. You're on with Mario and Cordo Lopez.
I said it.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Hey O Mario and Cordo Lopez taking him out with
a highlight someone doing some good in the world with
our good deed. Lopezy. Who's getting the honor this week?

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Honey Scott Ruskin. He's a US Coast Guard rescue swimmer.
He became a hero during the recent catastrophic floods in
central Texas. So Ruskin joined the Coast Guard in twenty
twenty one after previously working as an accountant.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Very different.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Despite this being his very first rescue mission, Ruskin played
a key role in saving at least one hundred and
sixty five people who were caught those devastating floods. Scott's
efforts were particularly focused on Camp Mystic rus Can help
lead groups of children ten to fifteen at a time
to army helicopters for evacuation to safety. He highlighted the

(01:13):
strength and resilience of the children as a source of
his inspiration.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
You hear these heroic deeds and that's exactly what they are,
heroes in Oh my gosh, just to think that's something
like that could happen in this day and age, and
with all the kids involved, God bless them all.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
More Mario Lopez coming up Ala Mario.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Courtney Lopez, More music and fun Headed your way after
quick look at some of the new things hitting TV
and streaming.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
FX has a season seventeen premiere of It's Always Sunny
in Philadelphia Wow.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Season seventeen That's Wild.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
First episode featuring an Abbot Elementary crossover. This season will
explore the aftermath of the gang's volunteerism at Abbot Elementary
and will delve into Frank's potential coma, Mac and Dennis
becoming EMTs and these attempts to prove her side hustle
not going on there. NHDTV has the new season of

(02:05):
Celebrity IOE You. The first episode will star the marvelous
Missus Masle's Rachel Brosnahan, who is also playing Lowis Lane
in the New Superman. She works with Drew and Jonathan
to gift a beautiful new kitchen and dining room to
her best friend's parents, Ron and Robin, who have been
like second parents to her since she was in college.
And I know somebody else who's going to be coming

(02:26):
out on this season as well. Tell us a little
about it and who you're io youing.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
I am very excited to be on the new season
of Celebrity, I owe you. I don't want to give
too much away. We'll get into it more as it
gets closer. But they should be very happy and very appreciative,
is all I have to say. You're all Mario Courtney
Lopez little more music than going to serve up some
fresh justice in court host Court, so hang tight for that.
In the meantime, Corda going to make a weirdo random thought.

(02:53):
Oh what's on your mind?

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Quarto to be do this to people driving your laios? No,
no hoo. So do you think bugs actually are born
knowing they can walk up walls or do they just
accidentally do it one day and be.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
Like, y'all, I can walk up walls and not fall.
I think bugs feel like they can do anything. I
think when you're an animal, you feel like you can
do anything, and you quickly find out if you can't
or not. But they're not tripping, so they're walking up walls.
They're like, yeah, I knew this. All Mark Courtney Lopez,
time to serve up some fress justice. All rise and
welcome Judge Courtney Quardo Lopez. It's time or Quardo's Court.

(03:33):
Today's case comes from at THEO Johnson. They say, I
don't know if my girlfriend says gas lighting me or
what at this point, but she always seems bothered by something.
When I ask what's wrong, I simply get nothing. I'm fine,
but then her behavior towards me is really passive aggressive.
If I bring it up, it never gets past I'm fine,
but the situation never improves. I love her, but this
feels like a weird game she's playing. I'm willing to

(03:54):
work on things, but if she won't engage, what do
I do?

Speaker 4 (03:57):
Well?

Speaker 3 (03:58):
This is a terrible relationship to be in. Either she
knows something that you've done and isn't telling you and
she's trying to play it cool, but she's so mad
inside that that's just how she handles the situation.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Or she's just a miserable person and.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
It's not really you, it's just her. So you know,
if you want to be with this person, I think
you need to talk to her about it, because nobody
wants to be around someone who's miserable like that all
the time.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
You're right, communication is Kate.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
More Mario Lopez coming up.

Speaker 2 (04:30):

You are Mario Courtney Lopez, keeping the music and fun
coming your ways. We get ready to chat with actor
and comic John Leguizamo, and not only is he back
fro another season of his MSNBC show, but he's also
part of a new show, smoke Over on Apple tv.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
A lots to talk about when John Legamo joins us next.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
So Mario Lopez joining me right now on Zoom. Actor
in comic, my man, John Leguizamo. How you been John?

Speaker 5 (05:30):
What's help help us up? How you doing, Mario? How's
everything going?

Speaker 2 (05:33):
It's going really well, brother blessed, feel feel really good.
I haven't seen you since your last show, which was
here Was it the mark tape or form? Were you
were here in La or I was Comenson? That's what
it was. Excellent show, so much fun. Congratulations on the
second season of the docu series like Zombo Does America.
I know it just premiere on MSNBC for those who
may not be familiar. Tell us about it.

Speaker 4 (05:55):
Yeah, Well, basically what I do in this show and
it's the first of its which is insane that it's
the first show on Latin culture because the first language
spoken in America was not English, was Spanish. We've been
here since fourteen ninety two and way before you know,
most of the country has a Spanish name. So this

(06:18):
is the first show on our culture, and it was
number one on MSNBC, so we got a second season.

Speaker 5 (06:23):
And basically what I do.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
I go around the country looking for Latin exceptionalism, Latin genius,
Latin ingenuity, and I celebrated and I shine a light
on it, and I find that Latin joy all over
the place.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
I love it. And that's one of the things I
loved about the show that I caught it. The amen sen.
I love history. It's always been my favorite subject, so
getting to know about that and the culture was very cool.
All Right, John Hank time lots more. I want to
ask quick break. We're gonna have more with Likezamo.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
More fun on the way on with Mario Lopez.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Getting back to John Leguizamo was hanging out on Zoom.
Mario Lopez here talking about is MSNBC docu series like
Gizamo as America and uh, first episode of season two,
I know you're in Philly and you hit it. You
hit a boxing gym.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
Right, Oh yeah, yeah, I hit up a boxing gym,
this incredible uh boxing coach and in a poor neighborhood
in Philly that's being gentrified, uh severely. And you know
I always knew gentrification and urban renewal and all these
terms were bad.

Speaker 5 (07:23):
I didn't just understand how evil it was.

Speaker 4 (07:25):
You know. I always thought, oh, you get a couple
of Starbucks and people start to leave.

Speaker 5 (07:29):
But no, what happens is they did fund schools.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
Hospitals, important resources, uh supermarket. So people, you know, are
basically starved out of their neighborhoods.

Speaker 5 (07:43):
So they have to yell uncle him sell for nothing.
So this coach won't give up.

Speaker 4 (07:48):
He stays in town, he has his boxing gym, all
these kids and uh, you know, I get beat up
by that five.

Speaker 5 (07:55):
Year old in the first episode.

Speaker 2 (07:59):
It's crat man. That's great, all right, Hank time more
John like Ozamo coming up the first more music. Al
Maria Lopez talking MSNBC's leg was Zamo does America with
John like Wizamo this hour? And I know you've been
to all kinds of different cities like Denver, New Orleans,
San Antonio, Phoenix. Do you have a favorite that you've
had the most fun.

Speaker 4 (08:17):
I mean, it's hard to say which is a fair
because everybody, each one had really interesting people. But I
got to say my I mean Nola's I love Noah,
but I think San Antonio was my favorite.

Speaker 5 (08:28):
I didn't think it would be, but yt.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
An underrated city. I like San Antonio too charming with
the so charming, and I.

Speaker 4 (08:35):
Didn't know it was the sixth largest city in America. Either,
it's it's massive.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
Yeah, food scene is next level chef's kiss.

Speaker 4 (08:44):
I mean the incredible produce, the ingredients is so fresh,
the tied the tied to the two Mexican culture is
so close that the food is really authentic tasting. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:59):
No, I love going there. I got a nephew in
college there at the moment, right now, all right, John
Hay Tight, We're gonna come back with more on the
way you're all Mario Lopez got actor in comic John
like Guazamo hanging out on Zoom with us this hour
MSNBC show back for season two. You're also John in
this new crime drama smoke Over on Apple TV, along
with tarn Edgerton and Jeri Smillett. And this was all

(09:20):
about the serial arsonists terrorizing the Pacific Northwest. Right, that
must be very cool, fascinating.

Speaker 4 (09:26):
Oh yeah, No, it's a sick story.

Speaker 5 (09:30):
It's a true crime story.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
Oh true love that criminal.

Speaker 4 (09:35):
I guess that's the appropriate word. In the nineties, this
guy John Orr was the pre eminent expert in arson
and it turned out that he was an expert only
because he was setting the fires himself. All the work
killed dozens of people, burned down millions and billions of

(09:57):
dollars worth of property, and wouldn't have been stopped. You
would have stopped unless somebody found him out. And that's
what this is. His fictional version of this guy. Yeah,
and I play, you know, the guy's best friend who
gets too close to him and starts.

Speaker 5 (10:11):
To figure out that something is fishy.

Speaker 4 (10:14):
So he has me my career destroyed and sets me
up as a fall guy, and my career collapses. So
I become right, because that's what everybody who's in the
five department, who's in the career does.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
That seems like a natural transition, right, I didn't see
that coming.

Speaker 6 (10:30):
She threw me off on that one.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
He's a full interview now at on with Mario dot Com.
More Mario Lopez on the Way.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
Wrapping up with John Leguizamo. You're on Mario Lopez and
before you go, Man, this was cool, and I just
it's a fun fact. I don't think I've ever asked you,
but one of your very first roles I remember was
on Miami Vice back in the eighties, almost forty years ago.
What do you remember about that particular time and audition?

Speaker 4 (10:54):
Oh my god, that was crazy. I mean I was
I was like nineteen or twenty years old. I was
still in college. I went up for this audition for
the I Guess the guest Villain of the Week.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
Yeah, and luckily I was really ill.

Speaker 5 (11:13):
I had like this fever, so my voice was over here.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
My voice was so low, right, I think but helped
me get the job.

Speaker 5 (11:21):
But then when I went to work, my voice was
back to normal. So I sound like a peachweek.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
That's hilarious. Guy. Hey, and last question, John, I wanted
to ask you this Selina Gomez's fiance. I don't know
if you've ever met him or if you have met him.

Speaker 5 (11:37):
I met him at the New York Knicks VIP.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
Section, and so how did that conversation go. Was he
a huge fan of Carlito's way obviously called himself Betty Bloco.
I'm curious about that inner interaction, like tell me yeah.

Speaker 5 (11:48):
I was like, oh, Betty Blarco, I mean obviously you.

Speaker 4 (11:51):
Love Carlito's way. Yeah, and he was yeah, yeah, I'm
a big fan, you know. So yeah, you know school.
I mean I don't own the name, no.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
But like your soils anatious. I thought, that's a big
compliment to you, right, because I was.

Speaker 4 (12:03):
Like, yeah, a badge of honor that he named himself
after Benny Blanco. There was other a lot of other
stuff was named Bennie Blanco through the years, yes, which
you know I turned that.

Speaker 5 (12:14):
Roll down three times, is that right? Yeah, because I
didn't want to.

Speaker 4 (12:18):
Play a drug dealer again. And I was like, I
don't want to demonize my people. It's ridiculous. But then
when they said they were going to give it to
Benicio char I said, okay, I'll take it right right.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
Hey, you're playing Office Pacinto and Sean Bett.

Speaker 6 (12:29):
I mean you can't go on?

Speaker 5 (12:30):
Oh yeah, that bad. It was a pretty great start.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
It's the fast. Oh that's cool that you met, right,
Thanks for sharing that. Well, listen everyone, please be sure
catch John new episodes of Smoke on Apple TV every Friday,

Speaker 2 (12:51):
Too, brother. Take care.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
All.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
It's still so much to get into, you're all. Mario
Courtney Lopez going to dig into the buzz later this
hour to see what's trending. Got some celebt birthdays to
get into in a bit as well.

Speaker 3 (13:15):
In the meantime, more music. I think we'll dig into
our mentions to see what's on your mind. How do
you think? What do you think about that? Mister Lopez? Questions, comments,
whatever you got? Add on with Mario Lopez on Instagram.

Speaker 2 (13:29):
All right, at on with Mario on Facebook and xs
at on with Mario Lopez on ig you'r on Mario
Courtney Lopez Kordo digging through our mentions, would you find.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
Honey, you do not type Cordo. You typed Cordo and
he that's not type it in the script.

Speaker 6 (13:45):
I'm sorry. At this point it's been said so many times.

Speaker 2 (13:47):
People want it.

Speaker 6 (13:49):
People domain, you.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
Have the people This is from aunt Mandy Manda. She said,
not sure if you picked up on this during your
trip last week, but man, the beach is so amazing.
You just lay around and on underwear with strangers eating chips.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
What a world, Mandy Manda. You're just discovering that now.
So that's sort of been the move for oh, I
don't know, the last one hundred and fifty years, two
hundred years. Yeah, here's the thing about the beach. We
went to a beach that you can in Mexico. It
was beautiful in Cancun, where the water was pristine. It
was just incredibly warm and it was more like a lake. Now,

(14:24):
you go to certain places in Mexico, like Cabo, you
can't get in the beach.

Speaker 6 (14:28):
Now the water is like dangerous.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
It's gorgeous and it's warm, but the undercurrent is so strong.
They warn you to not get in there and go
in your own risk, and there's lifeguards. I'm like, well,
what good is that? Which is crazy? So you have
to go to other beaches. So some beaches are inviting,
some beaches are straight out dangerous. You gotta watch it.

Speaker 6 (14:46):
It also depends on the chip selection being provided correct
anything spicy You're good.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
More Mario Lopez on the way You.

Speaker 2 (14:53):

cancer battle.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
Look at her battling cancer and still bagging dudes, don't stop.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
Won't stop? Good for her. Brianca Chopera reveals the beloved
Jonas Brothers Project that she is not a big fan of. Oh,

new video with his son Jack blues on with Mario
dot com for all that.

us a piece of cookie dough.

Speaker 6 (15:59):
That's how I and it was delicious.

Speaker 2 (16:00):

Speaker 2 (16:14):
I'm gonna say Jack is forty two.

Speaker 3 (16:16):
You might be white, but I think he's forty four.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
You don't know Jack, he's forty two.

Speaker 6 (16:23):
Fifth level?

Speaker 2 (16:25):

Speaker 2 (16:38):
Court Love actually sounds good. Corda love works better than Courtney.
That might be your rap name.

Speaker 3 (16:43):
Umm, she is loving her way into fifty five.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
Ooh, how was gonna guess that? I'll go fifty four

when I was an nice but yeah, sure that makes it.
That's okay.

Speaker 2 (18:13):
John Marrow, Courtney Lopez back to the music before you know.
But first, it's no secret we love dogs around here.
We've got three phrases, got a few And obviously having
a dog can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also
tend to take over your life. New survey found that
the average dog parent makes twenty seven decisions every month
based on their pet. Wait, what that's all?

Speaker 3 (18:33):
Yes, you would not know. Then there's another pet like
I pet the dogs every time I see them? Orservet
what food do they eat?

Speaker 2 (18:41):
Do you know anything about them?

Speaker 1 (18:42):
You?

Speaker 2 (18:42):
That's why? That's why, right?

Speaker 3 (18:44):
So I have twenty seven times three because we have three.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
Then there's another category of pet parents called the dink wads,
which is you. Those are the people with double income, no.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
Kidds, he's got kids.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
They basically consider their dogs to be their children and
spend over one hundred and twenty five a year on
dog toys and treats, and even more on personalized gear
for them like engraved toys and monogram blankets.

Speaker 6 (19:07):
Okay, one hundred and twenty five a year on treats
like that's that's that's like one trip, Fraser, you're a
dink wad. Do I have a double income?

Speaker 1 (19:17):
More? Mario Lopez coming.

Speaker 2 (19:19):
Up, It's Ubriel Mario Corney Lopez. Time for one last thing.
Another great documentary just checked out on HBO Max called
The Mortician, which coincidentally is about a mortuary about five
minutes from where we live, and it's the true story
of a guy named David Sconce and his family who

(19:39):
were pretty morbid in their dealings with cadavers with bodies.
They were a reputable family, affluent, had been in the
mortuary business for three generations. Long story short, when the
grandparents died and one of the kid's husbands took over,
the daughter's husbands sort of took over. You get an
in law taking over. It got so bizarre. You're only

(20:03):
supposed to cremate one person at a time. Oh no, okay,
to get the ashes, My guy was doing twenty five
to thirty at a time and scooping up all the
ashes and just kind of giving them out. However, not
to mention, he would be grave digging and take the
people's jewelry, their clothes, sell it, harvest organs teeth, take
the gold teeth out, Oh my, take the eyeball, sell

(20:25):
them to the medical board. And he was getting away
with it forever. The reason he got caught was because
he would hire all these junkies, because who would want
to work in that line of work unless people who
need money to get high? And when them got high
and left the ovens on and it burnt down. Instead
of just waiting to get the permits to build his
mortuary over in the same land, he went and got

(20:48):
a warehouse in his sparea and started just freelancing and
burning bodies are And then people were like, what is
that smell? What the city came And that's how he
got caught, And then leads to a whole bunch of
other stuff due anything you could do with a dead
body to make money, he did it.

Speaker 6 (21:02):
Unreal, It was unreal.

Speaker 2 (21:04):
It was bizarre.

Speaker 1 (21:06):
More Mario Lopez coming up.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
That's it quick. Thanks again to John Laguizamo for zooming
in Amara dot com for more of my chat with him,
more fun tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (21:15):
