Masters Junior is going to be joining us a little later,
going to catch up on some buzz, dig into our
mentions to see what's on your mind, and just a
few songs away from asking a random question. So turn
the music up and let's get the fun started. Jol

(00:27):
mariol Courney. Lopez wasted no time and making it weird
right out of the gate with a random question.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
What you got Okay, the world is ending and you
have six minutes left to live. What is the last
song you listened to?

Speaker 4 (00:38):
I think I can squeeze in two songs. If I
got six minutes, you got six minutes. You do what
you think you can.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
I would have to listen to Dougie Fresh and Slick
Ricks six minutes Dougie Fresh here on.

Speaker 4 (00:51):
Because it literally counts down for six minutes.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Really yeah, he says six minutes that it's a great
right you're not getting back in the day. I'm not
getting too I decided to go back to one all
right because it popped in my head. I'm going literally
six minute I'm gonna go on upbeat song talking about
six minutes. The chorus is all six men is six minutes,
six minutes degad fresh ground about him about him hitting
the stage. Well, that's about me hitting another stage in life. See,
I went deep with it.

Speaker 4 (01:13):
I think I'm doing final countdown because it was. Yeah.
If it wasn't six minutes, I couldt another one more.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Mario Lopez on the way.

Speaker 4 (01:22):
Yo, Mario Lopez, time to get into your comments. What'd
you find no I mentioned?

Speaker 5 (01:26):
Uh, this is from at Kim Kim ninety nine. Did
you have chores at home when you were growing up?
I imagine that's why you're successful today.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Not only did have chores at home, you weren't allowed
to just kick back and.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
Watch TV at my house, no downtime.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
My dad did not like that. I had always used
to like the vacuum I thing. I've said it before.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
I like to do the lines. Vacuuming was my OCD.
By the way, Yeah, that is my OCD.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Vacuuming was my go to and my mom would just
have us do some stuff but I couldn't just kick
back and watch TV. I could maybe for one day,
but if I had fun that day, then I'm wasn't
allowed to have fun the next day because then my
dad would put me to work. And anybody who spend
the night one night, that's it. After that he'd start
putting end to work. So nobody stayed at night and
wanted to come over. So no, That's why I think

(02:10):
I'm always on the go, because I don't know how
to relax. Yeah, my dad never gave us a shot.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
He instilled it into you so young.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
More Mario Lopez on the Way.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
More music hended your way? What a Mario Courtney Lopez here?
Got a request? Will drop it in our mentions.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Aut On with Mario on face worker x as we
make a quick digital pit stop at on Mario dot
com so Kordo can tell us what's trending.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Oh, Kevin Jonasso is breaking down his daughter's savage reaction
to the Jonas Brothers camp rock.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
Oh your kids will be ruthless.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
And Selena Gomes has revealed the one song that she'd
like to.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
Redo her personal song or another artist. I guess we
have to tune in.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
You have to go on with Mario for all that more.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
All right, a few more songs, going to fire up
the zoom to chat with actor Robbie Bateel. Mario Lopez
here not only part of the hit Fox show Animal Control,
but also currently on Lego Masters Junior, and he joined
the next season of Fox Is Special Forces, So lots
to talk about when Robbi joins us. Next, debro Mario
Lopez joining me right now from the hit Fox sitcom

(03:10):
Animal Control, actor Robbie Patel.

Speaker 6 (03:12):
How you doing, Robbie? Hey man, it's pronounced Robbie. Nice
to meet you.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
My dude, Robbie, is it Rubbie? Yes, pronounced Robbie, Robbie Pattel. Okay,
very cool name. Where wan'shitty to you from? Robbie.

Speaker 6 (03:25):
I'm in Vancouver.

Speaker 7 (03:26):
I'm we just started filming season four of Animal Control.
So I'm sitting here in my apartment.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
That's a great city, Uh to do the show?

Speaker 6 (03:35):
Yeah? Have you worked up here?

Speaker 2 (03:37):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (03:37):
Yeah, a lot? And then it's it's blown up a
lot of sense. Yeah yeah, no, no, no, it's.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Like the the northern Hollywood north of the border.

Speaker 6 (03:46):
There's so much there's so much stuff here. Now, dude,
I mean more than ever.

Speaker 4 (03:49):
Yeah, I bet it's a good time a year to
be out there right now. And this is kind of cool.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
You're an advisor on the new season of Lego Masters
Junior on Fox.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
My kid's huge, huge Lego fans. Were you a big
Lego fan as a kid?

Speaker 1 (04:02):
Oh?

Speaker 7 (04:02):
Yeah, except I didn't have as many as these kids
have now, like they have millions of Lego Yeah.

Speaker 6 (04:08):
I mean you should see the set for this show.
It's bananas.

Speaker 7 (04:11):
I had one small box that I think I played
with for like ten years.

Speaker 6 (04:15):
And loved it. I was obsessed. Were you.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
I wasn't that into it, to be honest, but my
boys are.

Speaker 4 (04:21):
They're they're really really into it.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
So what are you allowed to give advice or do
you help these kids or what's your role exactly?

Speaker 7 (04:29):
Yeah, I mean basically, you know, it's Lego Master Junior.
So there's they find these Lego prodigies who are just
incredible of building lego and then each team has a
celebrity on it that is there to you know, be
on their team to help advise.

Speaker 6 (04:44):
But we're building, we're doing everything with them.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
Nice nice no, definitely be sucking that out quick break
and then we have more with Robbie.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
Bettel Mario Lopez.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
We'll be right back catching up with Robbie Battel from
Fox's Lego Master's Junior Mario Lopez here, And I know
you also joined the cast of Season four Special Horses
on Fox. Interesting interesting cast too, And I know the
show is pretty intense. I've been speaking to a lot
of people right there. Have you started filming that yet?

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Oh? We did it.

Speaker 7 (05:10):
It's coming out on September twenty fifth. It was one
of the best experiences of my life. I'm surprised you
haven't done it. Slater's the original swol boy. I feel
like this is a challenge that you need to take on. Dude.

Speaker 6 (05:21):
It was so much fun.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
I bet, I bet it was a lot of fun. Yeah, No,
I'm and wild. Where'd you got to shoot? Wire? Where'd
you shoot?

Speaker 6 (05:28):
This year?

Speaker 7 (05:28):
We went into we were in the Moroccan desert, fun
kind of at the the foothills of the Atlas Mountains.

Speaker 6 (05:38):
It was. Yeah, it's the most insane thing I've ever done,
and not the reality show that like I thought it
was going to be. I expected more snacks like breaks,
hotel there was.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
It was just as.

Speaker 7 (05:53):
Hard off camera as it was on camera in barracks.
It was like real, it was like real Special Forces.

Speaker 6 (06:00):
I you know, I'm an actor. I didn't.

Speaker 4 (06:01):
Yeah, yeah, I didn't.

Speaker 7 (06:02):
I didn't know it was gonna be all that, but
it was. We were staying intense. There's like, you know,
dirt floors, you have, you know, the same two outfits.
You you have to wash yourself. They have these like hoses
outside and you know, you get your drinking water there
and you're like, you know, going to the bathroom and
buckets and eating horrible military food.

Speaker 6 (06:20):
I probably shed like six pounds while I was there.

Speaker 4 (06:22):
Sounds like fine.

Speaker 7 (06:23):
And they wake you up at any time to do
these crazy workouts.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
You're really making it a good pitch there on it. Yeah, hell,
Mario can't wait to sign up now.

Speaker 6 (06:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (06:35):
Yeah, you got me all fired up.

Speaker 6 (06:37):
Blood everywhere. Yeah, it's it's it's uh, it's intense.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
I bet man.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
All right, hay tie, a few more songs and we
going to come back with some more rocks. Getting back
to Robbie Bettell, who's hanging out on zoom. You're all
Mario Lopez talking about the upcoming fourth season of Fox's
Special Forces.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
So Robbie what made you want to sign up for
the show.

Speaker 7 (06:56):
You know, I didn't get to do these kind of
outdoor adventure things when I was younger, and I was jealous,
and yeah, it was just it was really fun. It
was an insane challenge. And I also made like people
who are some of my best friends now. Like I
live in Nashville. Twenty of the people on this show.
Out of twenty the people on the show, seven of
them live in Nashville.

Speaker 6 (07:14):
Wow, most of them.

Speaker 7 (07:16):
Most of them former NFL players, which are frankly the
only friends I've ever really wanted in life.

Speaker 6 (07:21):
So I finally have them.

Speaker 4 (07:22):
Funny, Yeah, good good, it sounds life changing.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
Happy for you right there? All right, more with Robbie
coming up, But first some more musics with Maria Lopez
chatting with actor Rob Bateel. We've been talking Lego Masters
Junior and Special Forces.

Speaker 4 (07:38):
But getting back to Vancouver where you're shooting Animal Control.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
It was renewed for a fourth season, and I know
you do the show, my buddy, Joe McHale.

Speaker 4 (07:46):
That's got to be a fun, fun set.

Speaker 7 (07:49):
Oh yeah, it's a great set. Like we're all super tight.
Joel was obviously a pro and hilarious. I'll tell them
that we talked, and then you know, Grace Valla I call.
They're all super funny but also the best group of
people that I've ever worked on. And I'm also just
happy to be on a show that hasn't been canceled yet.

Speaker 6 (08:07):
That's not my norm.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
No, it's tough. That's just a tough thing. You're exactly
right about that.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
All right, one more thing I want to ask, so
hang tight, quick break, and we're gonna come back and
wrap it up.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
You're the full interview now at on with Mario dot Com.
More Mario Lopez on.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
The Way, wrap it up with actor Robbie Bettel. Mario
Lopez here. And this next month marks the ten year
anniversary of your film Meet the Betel's, which really kind
of took your career to the next level.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
Are you doing anything to celebrate that?

Speaker 6 (08:34):
Yeah, I don't. I haven't figured out yet exactly what
we're gonna do.

Speaker 7 (08:37):
I'm writing something for it, so maybe we'll get that out.
But and then I also just started making another documentary
that's kind of going to.

Speaker 6 (08:47):
Be a sequel to it, So there's that.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
Okay, yeah, yeah, good for you, man.

Speaker 6 (08:52):
I'm excited, man, I mean that thing changed my life.

Speaker 7 (08:54):
That movie was the most insane ride. I spent seven
years making it with my sister. We co directed it together.
That's great, and no festival wanted it. And then next thing,
you know, we finally got into a small festival and
then bigger festials and we were winning one after another,
and then it became this massive hit on Netflix and
it changed my life and it changed my family's life.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
Hey, mat, congrats on everything, and listen, everyone be sure
to catch Robbie in Lego Masters Junior and the new
season of Special Forces on Fox and streaming on Hulu.

Speaker 4 (09:23):
Thanks for checking in. Nice chatting with you, all right, brother,
Take care.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
Ald Maire Lopez about to get to some September first
birthdays shortly.

Speaker 4 (09:44):
In the meantime, more music and any obscure holidays to
celebrate Fraser. It is World Letter Writing Day. I like
writing letters.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
I think it's very not just old school but personal,
and you took the time to do it.

Speaker 4 (10:00):
I think it's meaningful. It definitely means more. Yeah, I
save a.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
Lot of letters people have written me over the years,
from people that are now have now passed and you know, famous, famous,
celebrities and what have you. I would write more, but
my penmanship hasn't improved since the third grade.

Speaker 4 (10:15):
That's the problem. Well, yeah, that that people can't read it,
so you don't write as much as you think, so
you have to like concentrate. No, I know, it's crazy.
You start to realize I went to the last time
I wrote a full sentence.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
Time for today's elet birthday shout out to Mario Lopez.
Here Frazer about to listen to the celebs turning a
year older, and I'm gonna try to guess the.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
Ages producer Nichols.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
Wow, you know, I got to say, you and Nichols
both have looked the same since I've met you.

Speaker 4 (10:39):
That's so of you.

Speaker 5 (10:40):
I think it's pretty think it's because everyone says it's
because we're around you and for some reason, you don't age,
so we don't age. That's pretty good. For like anti aging,
that's pretty good. Yeah, it's like anti aging radiation or something.

Speaker 4 (10:50):
There we go, it's the good energy. I think Nichols
is forty forty one.

Speaker 5 (10:55):

Speaker 2 (13:11):
You know the other day we broke down that list
The New York Times put together of the one hundred
best films of the twenty first century. Well, I'm guessing
that not going to be updating that list to add
the new Eva Longoria ice Cube.

Speaker 4 (13:21):
War of the Worlds, the remake is.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
Out now on Amazon Prime, and people cannot stop talking
about it, but for all the wrong reasons. The movie
and I've actually never seen this, got a perfect zero
on Rotten Tomatoes record breaker. I mean, hey, you make
an history. I guess viewers are calling it the worst
movie of the year.

Speaker 4 (13:41):
All right.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
The reviews and the comment section are savage too, and
the memes are just relentless. The best part the tagline
for the movie is it's worse than you think.

Speaker 4 (13:51):
Come on, that's amazing.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
More Mario Lopez coming up.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
Mario Courtney Lopez. Here, let's put a spotlight on my wife.
For Get Courtney's random thought.

Speaker 4 (14:01):
What you got honey? All right?

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Love this, Love this thought, so it's yours. That's why
I love it. Coconuts have hair, flesh, and milk. Therefore
I think coconuts should be mammals.

Speaker 4 (14:14):
Oh, I've never thought about it that way. Flesh, yes, the.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
I was gonna say pulp, but the inner workings of
a coconut. Yeah, what is it like?

Speaker 4 (14:26):
What would you know? Where are you back at? All
I know is I love me some coconuts.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
The juice and when you just open it up and
start biting it and you get scrape it out with
the tongue. They were great coconuts, by the way. Not
so fun fact kill an average of like nine or
twelve people a.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
Year falling from the tree.

Speaker 4 (14:42):
True story. Alvar Lopez. Reminding you now that the kids
are heading back.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
To school anyway, we want to say thank you to
all the teachers who go above and beyond. We truly
appreciate you and all you do in.

Speaker 4 (14:55):
And out of the classrooms.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
So join us and think a teacher today and they
could even and get five thousand dollars to stock their
classroom this fall, powered by donors Choose. So I help
us say thank you to the educator shape in our future.
All myar dot com slash teachers to nominate.

Speaker 4 (15:09):
Years i'lmar Courtney Lopez.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
You know I love me some crazy headlines and this
one's just insane. Lawrence van Wassenhove is suing her longtime
employer a French telecom company for discrimination after spending twenty
years on the payroll without being given any real work. Essentially,
she was paid to do nothing. Wait, so what, Yeah,
so she's complaining. She moved to a secretary of rule
in ninety three due to medical issues, but when she

(15:34):
could no longer perform those duties, her repeated request for
another position, we're ignored. Instead, she was left on standby
and eventually put on long term sickly. She says, the
result was two decades of isolation, depression, and feeling invisible.
So now she's taking legal action accusing her company of
failing to support her needs and sidelining her.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
Okay, I have so many questions about this because A,
if you're getting paid to do nothing thing, who would complain?

Speaker 4 (16:01):
Well, she is at number one and number two.

Speaker 3 (16:04):
You had twenty years of being able to look for
a new job.

Speaker 5 (16:08):
Yeah, but you also had twenty years to take legal
action then, Yeah, when it was happening.

Speaker 3 (16:12):
This seems weird, like a shakedown, pay me for nothing.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
I'm down, Well, Mario Lopez will be right back.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
A Mario Lopez music rolls on right after a quick
reminder that the twenty twenty five. Global Citizen Festival is
returning to Central Park September twenty seventh with an incredible
lineup weekend Shakida performances by Tiger Maria, the Scientist, Aria Starr,
Global Citizen Ambassador Hugh Jackman. It's said to host the festival,
which will rally action to bring energy access to a

(16:39):
million people across Africa, provide education for thirty thousand children
around the world, and more. All of us said, I
heard Radio Proud to support Global Citizens, the exclusive US
audio partner, and you don't want to miss the show.
Tickets are free, just have to take action to earn them,
so download the Global Citizen app or visit Global Citizen
Festival dot com to get started.

Speaker 4 (17:00):
Mario Lowpez here getting close to the end of our
radio fund. Just one last thing to get to plus
probably enough.

Speaker 2 (17:05):
Time to play a request or two before I get
out of here. So if you got a song you
want to hear, hit me up at all on Mario
on X y'all, Mark Courtney love Pezz squeezing in one
last thing before we get out of here.

Speaker 4 (17:17):
For the night.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
So Wahlberg honey face timey. You know he loves face time,
and I had my glasses on it, and he was
kind of giving me a hard time that I use
reading glasses. And I'm like, dude, we're the same age,
you're actually older than me.

Speaker 4 (17:28):
Don't you use them?

Speaker 2 (17:29):
He goes, I used to, but I trained my eyes
to get stronger, and I said, get at here, he goes,
bro This doctor said, your eyes are a muscle, just
like the rest of your body. If you don't use
it at eleatrophy, but you could build it back up
if you train it.

Speaker 4 (17:42):
And I'm like, are you serious? Like, yeah, I don't
use them anymore to read scripts.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
And on the heels of this conversation, my buddy Davey
Daves said, I don't use them anymore either. I trained
my eyes, like well what? And then Totty, my other buddy, said,
my uncle did the same thing. And then Terry was
just overhearing the conversation and she chimed in with Paula
Cartney did.

Speaker 4 (18:00):
The same thing, right, So you know a bunch of liars.
Well that's what I'm thinking, I said, is everybody trolling me?
Messing with me? Right now? All hold on a second.

Speaker 2 (18:08):
And then I was at pet this morning physical therapy
with McGinnis, my guy, I trusted individual, and I ran
it by him. I said, I want you to take
he goes. There's actually some truth to that, because that's
why and you use the same analogy my other friend, Kim,
did you put a patch over your eyes and you
can train one that is weaker to get as strong
as the other one, he goes.

Speaker 4 (18:28):
It depends though, on the severity.

Speaker 2 (18:31):
Of your eyesight and if you're near sighted faresighted, so
there is some there is some circumstances. So but bottom line, Wahlberg,
I think was right.

Speaker 5 (18:39):
I've done some research. It will not solve nearsightedness or
far sightedness. It will help with eyestrain and what I
have though you have eyestrained, but it doesn't help your
actual vision. It helps prevent you from trying to basically
hurting your eyes by trying to art, but your vision
is still messed up already.

Speaker 4 (18:55):
It's not going to correct that. But go ahead and
try do your eye workouts.

Speaker 3 (18:58):
Notice all men said that, No, Terry's a woman. Terry said,
Paul McCartney did it.

Speaker 4 (19:04):
I'm going to give it a shot. I say that,
But so now you're going to be a pirate. Here's
the thing about glasses. I feel I looked distinguished.

Speaker 1 (19:13):
You do look sex or Mario Lopez.

Speaker 2 (19:16):
All right, that's the time to pass the mic. So
much fun hanging out with you. A big thanks to
Robie mattofa zooming in on Mario dot com for more

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
