Speaker 1 (00:00):
I'm Marle Smith and you're watching my Iveheart Radio. Ask
any picture?

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Thanks to Romeo and most Art's questions for having me
on tonight's show, and yeah, we'd.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
Talk about stargazing.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Lily from Mount Juliet arts, how do you protect your heart.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
And your integrity in the music industry?

Speaker 2 (00:18):
I think for me, protecting my head and my heart
just comes from being authentic in everything that I do
and never compromising on things that don't feel like me
or feel right to me.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
And if they don't feel right to me, I just
won't do it. And yeah, I've.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Always been raised that way and pushed to be that way,
So that's how it protects myself. Mia from Eagle Grove
asks how did star Gazing come together?

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Ah Man, star Gazing was a really interesting track.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
I was in Malibu for the first time, which is
a very very very very far way away from home,
and I was with two of my best mates of music,
Jesse Fink and Peter Fenn, and we were having this
conversation about that idea of you know, that person who
you've fallen in love with, or someone specially in your

(01:08):
life often is always been there or has always been
in your life. In some capacity and looking over at
the stars. It was just like this hearing a moment
of like, why don't we just try playing with the
idea of.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
Like star gazing as well as.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
Mashing the idea of you know, knowing someone that you
love now has always been around, and just from following
our gut and not overthinking it and trying to be
as like simple as possible.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Stargazing was born.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Via a letter from Queen's New York Art. Can you
tell me a bit about your early years starting out
and did you travel far away from home to sing? Yeah?
Starting out, I picked up the guitar probably around age
ten or eleven, and it was like this thing where
I wasn't good at sport in school. I wasn't like

(02:03):
the coolest kid in school, and so like the only
saving grace I had was to be the musical weird kid,
and I like every day during my break or lunch hours,
would play guitar and try and write songs and try
to be like coldplayer Ed Sheering. And after doing that

(02:24):
for so many years, the songs got a little bit better,
and I started to do open mic nights and pub
gigs and find anywhere or any place that would listen
to me, and I just kept.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
Going and going and going and going.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
And eventually I went off to university or school as
they call it in America, and I got a real
job off the back of that and did that for
a couple of years, and it always lived in my
heart that I wanted to do something that I was
passionate about, not just good at. And that's where I
made the decision to quit everything and give music a
real go again.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
After the last chart, the last time I did and yeah, hello,
I'm here, Cassie from Indianapolis. I think I'm murdered. How
you say that?

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Indianapolis asked me what was my first job? My first
job was working in Tesco, so I think you guys
would call it like Target, and I worked in the
fruit and vegetable and I was a specialist of fruit
and vegetables. What that means, I don't actually know. I

(03:30):
think it just means I knew where to put the
tomatoes and where to put the broccoli. But it meant
that I got fifteen more cents an hour for doing it.
And that was my first job. I loved it. It
was a great time with a lot of people my age,
Jessica from Colorado asked me how excited am I to
open Thread Sheeran next summer.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
I am so excited.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
I mean, he is arguably like the best thing a
songwriter of our generation, and so to have the chance to.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
Open for him is so, so, so special.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
And the fact that he's a big reason why I
got into music in the first place is even more
crazy because it's like watching your idol but also being
in the same room as them and then sharing the
stage with them.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
It's mind blowing and I.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
Don't think I've quite processed it yet, but I think
when I'm found boy inside stage in an arena somewhere
in Europe, I probably will Nancy from Toronto, Ontario asking
me where's the furthest away. I've been from home and
got recognized on the street. I went to Thailand on
time and they thought I was Michael Jordan, so maybe that,

(04:48):
but I'm not Michael Jordan, Lamles Smith, and I think
in South Africa got recognized quite a lot.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
And that's a.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
Thirteen hour flight of even Rome, so yeah, that's a
furbus and that was pretty cool. I've recognized a lot
like a lot, and it's still weird, but I'm getting
nest to it. Thank you, thank you, thank you again
for watching my Asking Anything chat, and yeah, thanks to
Romeo and most requested Life for putting this all together

(05:19):
and having me answer questions.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
It's been really awesome.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
It's been really cool, and I hope that my monotonal
voice hasn't bored you too much
