Speaker 1 (00:01):
Here we are once again, ladies and gentlemen, the start
of a busy broadcast week here on the Dan O'Donnell Show.
Welcome to it. Well, every circus needs a clown, and
now the Democrat gubernatorial primary has theirs. Our good friend
Kirk Bangstad, the owner of the Monoqua Brewing Company, jumps
(00:22):
in and the Democrat Party is desperate to pretend that
he does not exist. We will have a complete breakdown
of a truly hilarious botched launch from this weekend as
three hours of broadcast excellence, or at the very least
and far more likely broadcast competence unfolds. If you would
(00:43):
like to join us four one four seven nine to
nine eleven thirty on our advt nos dot com Talk
and text line. Why do I keep doing that? I
Am going to have to write on a chalkboard like
Bart Simpson Carpetland USA Talk and text line. Look, folks,
it was advent for like five years. It is like
tattooed on my brain. So I'm gonna sit here, missus
(01:06):
Kraboppol is going to make me write the Carpetland USA
Talk and text line one hundred times on the blackboard
every single time. I screw that up four one, four seven, nine, nine,
eleven thirty on the Carpetland USA. Talkin text line DoD

a single second of conservative thought and not just talk today,
please do download and subscribe to the Dan O'donnald's Show
podcast on iHeartRadio or wherever you listen to podcasts. Top
stories that we are following right now, President Trump speaking
(01:49):
at a small business seminar at the White House. Right now,
he's talking about the state of the economy six months
before the midterm elections, and talking about out the outsize
impact that small businesses have on the American economy.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
You're the lifeblood of the American economy, and with your help,
we're truly making America great again. We're doing record business.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
All the details from that summit coming up in the
Daily Trump Day just after the four o'clock news. Coming
up in just a second, that new entrant into the
race for Wisconsin governor Democrats want to avoid talking about
him at all costs. Why because he is their voter base.
I'll explain right after we give you a chance at
(02:35):
one thousand dollars in our Spring Green Cash contest coming
up in just a minute or two. Airline passenger is
still scrambling after the sudden decision by Spirit Airlines to
cease all operations after being unable to reach a deal
with the federal government on a bailout. But was Spirits
fate sealed years ago? We'll discuss at about four twenty five.
(02:55):
Then at five oh six, a really bad day for
one elon Omar. Legislators in Minnesota have subpoenut records related
to a massive benefits fraud scheme, while she joins her
party's calls for Congress to pack the Supreme Court if
they win back control this ball and then win the
presidency two years from now. All of that coming up
(03:15):
on today's Dan O'Donnell's show Nationwide. Keyword this hour in
the Spring Green Cash Contest, Rich? Are I ch rich?
You won't be rich if you win this hour's playing
of the Spring Green Cash Contest, but you will have
one thousand dollars in your pocket, So you can feel rich,
at least for a second. You have got until three
(03:36):
fifty five to go to our website, enter that word rich,
and if your entry has picked at random, you will win,
just like we had a winner on Friday evening. Listening
to us in the five o'clock hour on Saturday, Kirk Bangstad,
the disgraced and buffoonish owner of the Minoqua Brewing Company,
(03:57):
announced that he was going to make a big political announcement.
There was going to be a protest at his brewery,
frankly because it was in Monoqua, and frankly because people
are just sick and tired of Kirk Bangstad's antics. Not
a whole lot of people showed up for either the
protest or the counter protest. But Bangstad said he was
(04:19):
going to make a major political announcement, and we at
the Dan O'Donnell Show and our brand new digital media venture,
the Heartland Post, figure that he was going to announce
a run for governor. Why not, because he is getting
the thing he wants most of all attention, And as
that was starting to wane, he realized that he needed
(04:39):
to put himself back in the political spotlight here in Wisconsin.
What better way to do that than to announce that
he was running for governor now. He said Saturday in
a very long, very rambling, nearly one hour long speech
to his supporters, about forty five minutes in. You had
to sit and listen to this guy ramble for forty
(05:00):
five minutes. He punctuated it with a song. He sort
of burst into song randomly. Yes, it was every bit
as hilarious as it sounded, and I'll give credit where
credit is due. Kirk is not a terrible singer. He's
got some issues with staying on the rhythm, but he
can at least hold a tune. He burst into song
in the middle of his speech, but you had to
(05:20):
wait forty five minutes before the meat of the speech
and he announced that, yes, he is going to run
for governor.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
I've called Chris Larson. He's one of my best friends.
He's a senator from Milwaukee. I wanted him to run.
Speaker 4 (05:42):
There we go, So.
Speaker 3 (05:45):
I've really I've called everybody. I was like, we need
somebody strong to run for govern meets somebody who is
battle tested and can stand up the Trump.
Speaker 5 (05:55):
And I've been called the Trump of the left and everywhere.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
Arguably I am I'm just a million times smarter, but
I have.
Speaker 6 (06:06):
The showmanship aspect.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
It's I know, it's not hard.
Speaker 6 (06:10):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
He is a million times smarter than Trump, so smart,
in fact, that he screwed up his nomination paper forms
not once, but twice in the span of a day.
He admitted it himself. He admitted himself, I should say
that he did not put any of the necessary campaign
(06:32):
information when he put out on his sub stack the
nomination forms. When you announce a run for governor, you
don't automatically get on the ballot. You have to submit
two thousand valid signatures by the deadline, and the deadline
to get on the ballot for the November election is
June first. Well, in order to get on that ballot,
(06:53):
your circulators or people associated with the campaign need to
circulate valid petition forms. What needs to appear on that
petition form is basic information, name of the candidate, home address,
things like that position sought. Bangstad's nomination papers included literally
(07:14):
zero information. None, There was none, and on his sub
stack yesterday or today. Excuse me, he said, Look, folks,
it's the first major gaff of the campaign. Because you know,
he's a million times smarter than Trump. Trump was able
to get on the ballot for president three separate times
without any major issues, but of course Bangstad could not. Well.
(07:36):
We at the Heartland Post after he put out the
corrected version of his nomination papers realized that they were
still wrong. He's still because he's a million times smarter
than Trump. Managed to screw up the address. Instead of
putting his home address in Madison, or the residents at
(07:57):
which he votes, or that there is a record of
him in Wisconsin, he put the address of his tap room,
the bar and brewery that he runs in Madison, wamp
womp wamp. Of course, Bankstad is probably going to have
(08:19):
some difficulty getting any Democrats in Wisconsin to actually sign
his nomination papers if they are party loyalists, because the
Democratic Party wants nothing to do with Kirk Bangstad. They
want absolutely nobody to even know that this guy is
running for governor because they are embarrassed of him. They
(08:41):
realize what an utter clown he is. And this goes
long before, and I mean long before he posted right
after President Trump was very nearly assassinated at the White
House correspondence dinner that either one of the brothers or
sisters in the Resistance is going to have to work
on their aim or Trump faked another assass a nation attempt,
(09:01):
and he has had an offer of free beer at
his tap room the day President Trump dies. Now, the
Secret Service and FBI last week went to go investigate
Old Kirk over this potential threat. And Kirk was so
he was so panicked about this, He was so scared
about a Secret Service agent contacting him that in a panic,
(09:25):
he actually posted the Secret Service agent's cell phone number
on his Facebook page and then instructed all of his
Facebook followers to call that number and tell the agent
to stand down, tell the agent to stop the investigation
into Kirk Bangstad. Not only that, it is beyond a
parent that Bangstad has been running not just a crappy brewery,
(09:49):
the Monocua Brewing Company, He has also been running a
scam pack. And it is my very strong suspicion that,
in fact, he has been running one of the biggest
political fraud in Wisconsin, possibly in history. He has been
using two shell companies I have very strong reason to believe,
called Effervescent Blue and NCPs to funnel more than four
(10:15):
hundred thousand, four hundred and sixty plus thousand dollars to
himself over the course of the past five years. There
is no record of either Effervescent Blue or NCPs existing.
They are not registered businesses. They do not have phone numbers,
they do not have websites, they do not have email addresses,
they do not have any record of anybody working for them,
(10:37):
and they're being paid hundreds of thousands of dollars by
this Monocua brewing company Superpack for consulting work for political advertising.
This is a classic scam pack. This is a classic
technique that scammers will use to get gullible people to
donate to them and then funnel the proceeds right back
(10:59):
to them. In fact, this is very, very very illegal.
It's classic wirefraud. You've also got the possibility of a
criminal conspiracy. In fact, I've actually got the rundown on
all of the statutes that are potentially violated here. It
could potentially be money laundering if in fact it can
be demonstrated that funds are layered through shell companies to
(11:22):
conceal their true use. Obviously there would be making false
statements to the federal government. All of these are serious crimes,
and when you look at the history of scam pack
investigations scam pack charges. All of the cases look suspiciously
similar to the Monocua Brewing Company superpacks. So do not
discount the possibility that Bankstad is in fact running because
(11:46):
he realizes that the FBI isn't just investigating a poorly
timed and an incredibly poor taste Facebook post that may
in fact incentivize the assassination of the President into the
United States by offering free beer the day he dies,
but that there is a far more serious federal investigation here.
(12:07):
That way, he can say, look, they are just persecuting me.
The Trump administration is persecuting me because I'm a candidate
for governor. In either case, Democrats want nothing to do
with this guy because he embarrasses them. Well, here's the problem,
Bangstad is their base. Bangstad says he's running. He was
(12:29):
so ticked off that all of the as he called them,
corporate Dems, including Francesco Hong. If Francesco Hong is not
nearly left wing enough for you, then you are really
out there, my friend. But he said that Frannie Hong
and everybody else he was considering supporting Kelda Roy's But
(12:49):
apparently Kelda is so terrible. Even Kirk Bangstad won't support her,
So he said, well, I tried to get someone even
more insane and left wing. Hey, Chris Lars, State Senator
Chris Larson. He's insane, he's kind of dumb, he's super
left wing. I could get him to run. No surprise
here that Chris Larson and Kirk Bangstad are best buddies.
(13:10):
But since nobody else would run, Kirk said he have to.
He'd have to, and of course because he's, you know,
a million times smarter than Trump. But when he said
the reason that he's running because none of the quote
unquote corporate Dems are speaking forcefully enough about the issues
that people really care about, you can see how this
(13:33):
guy is just like every rank and file Democrat voter,
the true believers who really do think that democracy as
we know it is going to collapse, that Trump is
on the verge of declaring himself El Presidente and just
ruling for life that we will not have more election.
(13:55):
Listen to Kirk Bangstad talk and tell me this does
not sound like every crazy, unhinged liberal wine ant on
your Facebook account.
Speaker 3 (14:05):
What we haven't heard so far, and there's nobody paying
attention right now, but they should be.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
We haven't we have we haven't heard so far?
Speaker 3 (14:10):
Is that five alarm fire from any of the candidates
running for on the Democratic side what their consultants are
telling you. By the way, I rang for office, and
I had a consultant, and when I was politically naive,
I listened to what the polls said, and I listened
to what the consultants told me. And what happens is
if you do that, nobody knows what they're supposed to think.
If you're strong enough and passionate enough, you can tell
(14:31):
people what's important and they listen.
Speaker 4 (14:33):
To you as opposed to like think.
Speaker 5 (14:35):
You know, So what's important to me is saving our democracy?
Speaker 1 (14:41):
What's and protecting our rights?
Speaker 5 (14:43):
What's what's important to the polls if you pull every
Wisconsin is the cost of eggs are high and the
cost of gases side.
Speaker 3 (14:50):
Which is true.
Speaker 6 (14:51):
But but you ain't.
Speaker 5 (14:54):
Gonna fix the cost of eggs if you can no
longer vote right, you know? And if and if and
if people are getting beaten up and putting in attention
centers for speaking their minds, that's a hell a lot worse.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
Aha, who exactly is getting beat up and put into
a detention center for speaking their mind. I actually sat
and watched forty five minutes of that buffoon ramble so
I could get to the announcement that he said he
was going to run to. Nobody came to arrest him.
(15:27):
He's already under FBI investigation. Nobody came to arrest him
during the course of that rambling forty five minute speech.
Democracy is not in danger. Trump already lost an election.
Do you know what happened? He complained a lot, and
then on January twentieth, twenty twenty one, he left office.
You know what happened? Do you know what happened? Four
(15:47):
years later? The American people put him back in office.
He actually won the popular vote. He won more than
fifty percent of the vote. You know, you know Democrats
who say that the electoral College is anti democratic and
it installs a president against the wishes of the American people. Yeah,
Trump won the popular vote. Democracy works. Is anybody talking
(16:11):
about Trump running for a third term other than Trump himself?
Who does it? To tweak idiots who are gullible enough
to believe that he's not joking like Kirk Banks. Dad. No,
But the point is that this is exactly how the
average Democrat voter thinks. I'm talking about the people who
are true believers, who really internalize what the hysterics or worse,
(16:37):
what the cynics in the party are telling them, that
you had better vote for us, otherwise you will not
have the ability to vote. Apparently, after January sixth, democracy
as a talking point tested through the roof, and people
really did believe that the government was in danger of falling.
(16:58):
On January sixth. It was a riot, to be sure.
It was a riot during the counting of the votes,
which is ceremonial no matter what happened on that day.
What do you think the guy with the Viking horns
was going to declare himself to be president America? Doesn't
work like that. But Democrats are counting on their base
(17:20):
not to know that, and a whole lot of people
are getting into a whole lot of trouble for their
support of mister Bangstad within the Democrat Party. We will
dive into that when the Dan O'Donnell show returns in
just three minutes. Why is the Wisconsin Democrat Party ignoring
Kirk Bangstad's gubernatorial run at all costs because Bangstad is
(17:45):
their voter base? And they are deeply embarrassed of how angry,
how unhinged, frankly, how crazy, and how just woefully ignorant
that base has become. Democrats understand the need for their
useful idiots, but when those useful idiots attempt to take
(18:07):
over the party, they will not let that happen. Case
in point, Bernie Sanders in both twenty sixteen and twenty twenty.
I'll tell you one thing, though, If Kirk Bangstad makes
Francesca Hong look like the sane, normal, totally middle of
the road electable alternative, then his presence in this race
(18:29):
is undoubtedly a good thing for the GOP. Welcome back
to the Dan o'donald show. You want me to prove
that far more people than the Democrat Party would want
you to be comfortable with support Kirk Bangstad. Remember Bangstad
didn't just start saying crazy, murderous things when he offered
free beer the day President Trump dies back in January,
(18:52):
or this past week when he lamented the fact that
Trump wasn't assassinated at the White House Correspondence dinner the
day after Charlie Kirk was assassinated on September tenth, that
Bangstad wrote a long rambling post to his followers, basically saying,
I'm not shedding a tier for Charlie Kirk. I am
(19:14):
glad that Charlie Kirk is dead because men like Charlie
Kirk spread bigotry and hatred. So I will not shed
a teer for Charlie Kirk. The man is clearly happy
with the idea of his political opponents being assassinated, not
only that he is willing to put up his own
money to effectuate that happening. I wonder if he's putting
(19:38):
up the money that he got through his scam pack,
which he rerouted to through a couple of shell companies
known as Effervescent Blue and NCPs. Are the shell company
moneys going to be paying for free beer day the
day President Trump eventually does die. But I can actually
prove that far more people think like Kirk Bankstead. First
of all, do you know what the number one trending
(20:01):
audio is on TikTok right now? Number one trending audio.
It is the audio of Charlie Kirk being assassinated. He
is on stage at Utah Valley University. He is answering
a question about transgender violence, and then shots ring out
young libs are actually putting that to their videos that
they're posting to TikTok. It's pretty good indication that this
(20:25):
is pretty widespread, the idea that we celebrate when a
prominent conservative is killed, and even people in positions of
prominence are joining in in the unhinged death wishes of
their political opponents. People like Amanda harlaw She is the
operations coordinator in Residential Life and Housing at Beloit College,
(20:51):
and our good friends at the Libs of TikTok busted
her for supporting kirkbanks Dad's unhinged posts about the attempted
assassination of Trump.
Speaker 7 (21:02):
Last weekend, meet Amanda Harleall, a residential life and housing
administrator at Beloit College in Wisconsin. Amanda made a post
online expressing how she supports a far left beer company
that hopes President Trump gets killed. Here she is pictured
alongside Tony Evers, the Democrat governor of Wisconsin. These radical
leftists have completely infested in our country's higher education system.
(21:25):
She must be fired immediately. Parents don't want these deranged
lunatics around their kids. For those of you who want
to reach out and voice your concerns, you can contact
the president of Beloit College here.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
Yeah, just in case you were wondering, I believe that
was an AI generated voice. You can always tell because
they cannot for whatever reason, they cannot pronounce evers correctly.
I can always tell what it is a national site
that uses a This is why at iHeartMedia, we are
guaranteed human. If you hear me mispronounce an aim, that's
(22:00):
all me, baby. But Amanda Harrelel is apparently going to
be in a little bit of trouble with Beloit College.
Although given the fact that Beloit College has gone full
on unhinged lunatic left in recent years, maybe this will
actually lead to a promotion. What if I told you
(22:21):
that Kirk Bangstad is not the craziest person currently running
for office in Wisconsin. We're going to meet the craziest
next classical Conservatism contemporary style. It is the Dan O'Donnell show.
Welcome back to it. How am I just learning now
that Spencer Pratt, the reality TV show star who's now
(22:43):
running as a Republican for mayor of Los Angeles, is
still married to Heidi Montag from Laguna Beach Slash the Hills.
I feel like a terrible elder millennial because that was
the reality show series Laguna Beach, The Hills. I believe
there was one that was focused on LC Lauren Conrad,
(23:05):
who's perhaps now best known for designing a fashion brand
that you can find at Cole's. Yeah, but my wife
was hugely into The Hills. It was like, do you
remember when the show the OC was on Fox? Well,
MTV capitalized and did a reality show version, sort of
like what Bravo did when Desperate Housewives was a huge
(23:28):
hit for ABC Television and they did the Real Housewives
of Beverly Hills and then they did the Real Housewives
of pretty much every other city in the United States. Well,
the answer to the OC, which was sort of like
the teen dramedy of the early two thousands, was Laguna
Beach and Spencer and Heidi aka Spidey their reality show
(23:52):
couple name. They were like the bad guys, they were
like the villains. Yes, I do know an inordinate amount
about Laguna Beach and the What can I say? My
wife and our friends were like obsessed with this show
and they were in their early twenties. So I sort
of learned a little bit about Spencer Pratt by Osmosis,
he is running a heck of a campaign, very very
(24:14):
impressive campaign. I would say he does not have much
of a shot because while Karen Bass is almost the
current mayor, certainly going to go down to defeat, there
is a socialist member of the La City Council who's
also running, and her odds on all of the prediction
markets have shot up. Praft, of course, ran one of
(24:34):
these single best political ads I have ever seen. He
contrasts Karen Bass's home, a three million dollar mansion, with
where you live as a Los ANGELESO and all of
the crime and all this stuff, and then he finishes
with this is where I live in a trailer because
they allowed my house to burn down in the Palisades
(24:54):
fire and then never allowed any rebuilding, even nearly a
year and a half half later. By the way, we
do have an update on that Palisades fire. Remember how
we were told it was because of climate change, Well
it turns out it's because of an arsonist. And what
we learned over the past twenty four hours is that
arsonist is obsessed with left wing assassin Luigi Mangioni. We
(25:18):
will get to that on the Dan O'Donnell's show coming
up in the five o'clock hour. Is it possible that
there is a Democrat running for elective office in Wisconsin
who is more unhinged than Kirk Bangstad. You would think
that is impossible. You would think it would defy logic,
It would defy reason for any Democrat seeking office in
(25:41):
this state to be more nuts than Kirkbankstad. Ladies and gentlemen,
I present to you Katrina Deville. She or he or
z or Zrr is a transgender Satanist. Yes, you heard
that correctly, who is running as a Democrat, naturally for
(26:02):
Congress against Republican incumbent Tony Wead in the Green Bay area. Well, Katrinadaville,
whose hair makes him her z Zurr look like Kruela
Deville from one hundred and one Dalmatians. And I don't
say that to be insulting. I assume that is what
mister miss Deville is going for, because honestly, it looks
(26:25):
exactly like Kruela Deville. He nailed it. He also got
banned from this weekend's eighth Congressional Caucus, even though he
she z Zurr is a legitimate candidate, we think running
for Congress as a Democrat. He she Zzer was not
(26:45):
allowed to vote. Why because he She's Zurr supported a
post calling for the assassination of President Trump by one
mister Bangstad. I'm telling you, folks, Kirk Bangstad. He is
the emblem of what the Democrat Party's radicalized base has become.
It's essentially Frankenstein's monster that doctor Frankenstein can no longer
(27:09):
control Democrats by constantly telling their base that Trump was
a Nazi, that he was going to implement the Fourth Reich,
that democracy itself was going to die, that America, as
you hear, are unhinged liberal theme songs say every single
day that America is over. There is a certain number
(27:31):
of people who truly believe this stuff. They internalize this.
They are not particularly deep logical thinkers, and say, hey,
wait a second. Trump already lost an election, and he
bitched and moaned for a while, but then ultimately left Washington,
d C. Without much incident on January twentieth, twenty twenty one,
only to be reelected. Seems like the democratic process is
(27:53):
kind of working. The democratic process is only broken. Democracy
is only over, you see when Democrats lose. But Kruella
Slash Katrina Deville opened up in a post on Facebook
Live over the weekend about his Herrizzer exclusion from the
(28:14):
eighth Congressional Caucus. And of course, because this is a Democrat,
I don't know what it is with these people. He
She'szezer had to open up the Facebook video by singing.
Speaker 6 (28:26):
Aw on.
Speaker 8 (28:29):
Into the minas up, we just go on around once.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
Again, credit where credit is due. Katrina Deville is not
a terrible singer, not a terrible sing A little weird
to open up? What was that journey? To open up
with the journey song while you're talking about being booted
out of a congressional caucus because you're too crazy to
(29:02):
be a serious contender for Congress. But you do you, Katrina.
And then Katrina of course got to the meat of
his her Zzer video, which was the fact that she
Zzer does not support assassinating the president, as her support
of Kirk Bankstad and his Facebook post would suggest.
Speaker 4 (29:24):
There's some things I said online last week when I
referenced a post from Monoco Brewing Company. I did start
to stand up for Kirk's First Amendment rights. I do
not advocate for violence. I condemn it, but I don't
(29:46):
think that I was entirely in the wrong by saying
I'll feel some relief when this president's term is over.
I wasn't wishing for his death. I was wishing for
him to on.
Speaker 1 (30:01):
There's a big difference, Ah, Yes, big big difference. Now,
Katrina Deville Set, despite the best efforts of Democrats in
the eighth Congressional District to keep he.
Speaker 9 (30:14):
Him herz ziz Zoe Zip out of the caucus, he
shes Zezer, is still going to show up whenever and
wherever fascism needs to be defeated.
Speaker 4 (30:27):
I will continue showing up to show my support and
speak when the public needs me to.
Speaker 1 (30:35):
Which is always, Katrina.
Speaker 4 (30:36):
I will always, absolutely make sure that this edge of
fascism we have brought this country to under Donald Trump
gets turned back around. People of Wisconsin, people of the
United States, people of District eight, deserve far better than
what we have right now.
Speaker 1 (30:55):
I'll tell you what, Katrina, if I lived in the
eighth Congressional Distric, you would have my vote in the primary.
I don't even know, nor do I care, any other
Democrat who is running against Representative we who is a
fantastic Republican congressman and is going to win even in
a big Democrat year by probably about ten to fifteen.
(31:17):
It is a very very Republican district. No, not because
of jerrymandering, but because apparently every Democrat in that congressional
district is nuts. Once again, though, you have a transgender
Satanist who perfectly represents the base of the Democrat Party
that the Democrat Party just does not want speaking at
(31:37):
any official events. Why because the Democrat Party is terrified
of how the normies i e. You and me, people
who aren't obsessed with politics, people who don't live and
die with every single political machination. But the people who
just take a look at the transgender socialist Satanists in
(31:59):
the congressional district, who look at Kirk Bangstad and his
nonsensical ramblings and say, hey, you know what Republicans and Trump, Yeah,
you know, I don't know if I agree with all
of them on policy, but at the very least they're
you know, sane. We name the unhinged liberal of the day.
(32:21):
Coming up next right here on the Dan o'donald Show.
Welcome back to the Dan o'donald Show. It is conservative
thought and not just talk. All across the country, Democrat
candidates are getting more and more unhinged in their rhetoric.
Take Michigan Senate candidate Mallory mcmorro. She was on CNN
(32:44):
this weekend and asked, flat out, so do you think
the Trump administration is sort of like the Nazi regime personally?
See parallels between Nazi Germany and what's happening under the
Trump administration. Yeah, I do.
Speaker 10 (32:57):
It is deeply concerning that we see an authoritarian slide, and,
as we talked about earlier, dividing people against each other
to convince people that if you're not doing well economically
it's somebody else's fault is an incredibly dangerous place for
us to be in. I don't think that a lot
of people would argue that there are shades of authoritarianism
(33:19):
that we.
Speaker 1 (33:19):
Need to work well wait wait, wait, whoa, whoa, whoa
miss Lippy, hold on here. It's authoritarian and Nazi like
to blame somebody else if you're not doing well personally.
Isn't that what democrats do all the time with billionaires
(33:42):
that Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos are taking money from
you and that's the reason you can't get ahead nice self.
Own candidate mcmore Nazi Germany. Truff is dangerous because he's evil.
(34:10):
Let's name the unhinged liberal of the day, and as
hilarious and unhinged as Mallory mcmorro was, as hilarious and
unhinged as Kirk Bangstad always is, and of course our
singing transgender satanist Katrina Deville from the eighth Congressional District.
They are all strong contenders, but none could talk. Justin Pearson,
(34:34):
he is a house member from Tennessee and well, basically,
in one thirty second SoundBite, he pretty much hits all
of the modern Democrat talking.
Speaker 11 (34:45):
Donald Trump is a white supremacist, domestic terrorists who is
seeking to destroy our democracy by any means necessary, including
by usurping democracy itself and the voices of the people.
And Governor Bill Lee, Cameron, sect and Lieutenant Governor McNally
have all decided to join him in this effort to
destroy our democracy, to take away our voice, and to
attack black people and black representation.
Speaker 1 (35:05):
And that's wrong. What was the guy auditioning for a
micro machines commercial? Now some fast talk at why is
it that they cannot say white supremacist? Why is it
half of the time I hear Democrats saying white supremaist, supremacist. This,
of course, is about what a week and two days
(35:28):
after someone who sounded exactly like that in his note
that he left behind, tried to assassinate the President of
the United States. Again, there is no breathing room between
the truly unhinged like Cole Allen, the guy who tried
to kill President Trump at the White House correspondence dinner
(35:49):
last weekend, and just typical run of the mill Democrat rhetoric.
By the way, coming up in the five o'clock hour,
would you believe the judge in that case apologized to
the would be assassin Today, I almost made this judge
the unhinged liberal of the day. But it is Justin Pearson,
(36:12):
Democrat from Tennessee. And that's sort of the point here.
The Kirkbangstads, the transgender Satanists, the Justin Pearson's, the Mallory mcmorros,
they all say this stuff so routine, like just so
remember at the very beginning of this hour, if you
were with us at the beginning of this hour, when
(36:32):
I said our advent knows dot com talk and text line, Well,
a couple of weeks ago, the sponsorship of the talk
and text line changed to Carpetland USA talk and text Line.
But because for years and years and years and years
I have been saying the advant knows dot com talk
and text line, it just rolls off the tongue without
even me thinking about. That's how Democrats use this, just
(36:54):
truly vile rhetoric. That Donald Trump is a threat to democracy,
that Donald Trump is a Nazi, that Donald Trump is
a white supremist, that he's a bigot, that he's a racist,
that he's a rapist, that he's a pedophile. They don't
even think about it. And that's kind of the point, now,
isn't it. They don't want the rank and file voter
(37:16):
really thinking too deeply. They just sort of repeat this.
I'll give democrats this. They are absolute masters of marketing.
They understand that a simple, easy to remember phrase donald
Trump is a pedophile protector is way easier to remember
than say, Donald Trump has succeeded beyond any Democrat's wildest dreams.
(37:41):
We will get you the daily Trump date coming off
after the top of the hour news day tune. The
Dan o'donald Show will be right back second hour on
an absolutely beautiful Monday afternoon across s Wisconsin, and I
do hope you are savoring every single second of it.
I know I was. Earlier. Today I had to get
(38:04):
out on the golf course ladies and gentlemen. I played
a quick nine, and about halfway through I got a
little bit of bad news. I had been thinking, I
am a week from Wednesday going for knee surgery. I
tore my ACL as well as my meniscus a while back,
but because I was gone on our big trip to
Prague a couple of weeks ago, I wanted to schedule
(38:26):
the surgery afterwards, so I wasn't going to be on crutches. Well,
I just got the letter from the doctor just saying, hey,
here's what's going to happen during the surgery. After the surgery,
I had thought I was going to be on crutches
for three weeks. Turns out six weeks on crutches because
I tore the meniscus as well as the ACL. So
it's going to be a rough start to summer for
(38:47):
this guy. But as my wife said, she's always very
very good at looking on the bright side of things.
She said, look, you can just like layout in somen
tan in the backyard. I mean, like one of your
legs won't get very tan because it'll be in an
immobilizer and a giant brace for a while. But you
know it'll be all right. But yeah, well, yeah, very good. Eric,
(39:11):
my producer said, one side will be Irish, one side
will be Italian, sort of like me, half Irish half Italian.
Now you'll really be able to tell which half is
Irish and which half is Italian. You want to join
us Carpetland USA, talk and text line always open four

Speaker 2 (39:45):
We're gonna win so much you may even get tired
of winning.
Speaker 1 (39:49):
Just keeps winning. It is a win for the administration.
It's also a big win for the United States. We
have to keep winning.
Speaker 6 (39:57):
We have to win, Bar We're gonna win, Moore.
Speaker 1 (40:00):
Time for your Daily Trump Day. The President spent his
afternoon hosting a small business seminar, which included small Business
Owners of the Year in all fifty of these United States,
including here in Wisconsin. The honorees Wisconsin's Small Business Owners
of the Year, as announced by the Small Business Administration SBA,
they are Artie and Debbie Johnson of Johnson's One Stop
(40:25):
in Seneca, Wisconsin. I will admit I am unfamiliar, but
Artie and Debbie, congratulations to you. They're actually competing this
week for national Small Business Owners of the Year. It
is Small Business Week at the White House, and President
Trump today talked about the importance of small businesses in
the United States economy as.
Speaker 2 (40:46):
Small business owners and operators. To people in this room
represent the thirty six million small businesses who create forty
percent of all economic activity in the United States. Thinker,
then a group of people added together, you're essentially the
most important factor business was.
Speaker 1 (41:05):
In the whole in the whole country, and this country
is leading the whole world. We are now that I
can tell you by a lot. We are now just
six months to the day away from the November midterms,
and the state of the economy is, of course the
number one issue. Resident Trump used today's event to remind
(41:25):
voters of all the things he has done.
Speaker 2 (41:28):
Economic last summer, I proudly signed the great, big, beautiful bill,
the largest tax cuts in the history of our country
and boosting millions of small businesses.
Speaker 1 (41:46):
Boosting millions of small businesses. We passed no.
Speaker 2 (41:50):
Tax on tips, no tax on overtime, and no tax
on social security for ours seniors.
Speaker 1 (41:56):
That's big stuff.
Speaker 2 (41:57):
And we add that to the package that we approved
in my first term. We had the best financial years
and the history of our country my first term, and
I think we're going to blow them away this term.
You know, in this term, we have eighteen trillion dollars
being invested.
Speaker 1 (42:12):
In our country.
Speaker 2 (42:13):
And if you look at the last administration, they had
less than one trillion dollars for four years. We have
eighteen trillion during eleven month. The twelve month hasn't come
in yet in terms of the numbers, but in eleven months,
eighteen trillion dollars investments. We have auto plants being built
all over the country. AI plants we're doing and we're
(42:33):
leading China in AI. And I'm going to go see
presidency in two weeks. I look forward to that, but
I'll say I'm leading.
Speaker 6 (42:40):
We have.
Speaker 2 (42:42):
We have we have very friendly competition, but it'll be
actually it'll be a very important trip.
Speaker 1 (42:49):
It is going to be an incredibly important trip and
incredibly important week. Jobs report coming out on Friday for
the month of April. We're also seeing the earnings report
coming out as well, a number of earnings reports coming
from companies throughout the United States here, So it is
going to be a big week. As gas prices are
(43:11):
really historically high, very near where they were for an
entire summer under Joe Biden. It is actually kind of
amazing that Democrats do not remember that, or more importantly,
don't want you to remember that. We are seeing a
temporary spike because of the effective closing of the Strait
(43:34):
of Hormuz by Iran, choking off global oil exports, and
just the general uneasiness and the general disruption to global
oil markets as a result of Operation Epic Fury in Iran.
President Trump provided an update today, Iran have a nuclear weapon.
Speaker 2 (43:52):
We had all new his and I said, we have
to take care of business because we can't let that happen.
So we did a little detour.
Speaker 1 (43:58):
Then it's working on very nicely.
Speaker 2 (44:00):
They have no navy, they have no air force, they
have no anti aircraft equipment, They have no radar, they
have no nothing, They have no leaders. Actually the leaders
happened to be gone also. But I can't let them
have a nuclear weapon or are you're going to have?
You have problems like nobody would believe.
Speaker 1 (44:20):
And it's going very well. Today President Trump launched Project Freedom.
He deployed US Navy destroyers, aircraft, and thousands of personnel
to guide commercial ships through the Strait of Horror moves.
Iran claimed it struck a US warship with missiles after
warnings were ignored. The Pentagon strongly denies any hit, while
(44:40):
confirming US forces sank six Iranian small boats in the Strait. Meanwhile,
the Pentagon is announced today it'll withdraw five thousand American
troops from bases in Germany within the next year. The
move comes amid strained relations with the German Chancellor, who
criticized US actions in the Iran conflict. That ladies and gentlemen,
(45:01):
is your daily Trump Date and now a chance for
you to win one thousand dollars in our Spring Green
Cash Contest Nation y keyword fun fun Fun. Wouldn't you

appears to be avoiding me because he knows how badly
I'm going to beat him in golf before I go
for that knee surgery in a week and a half,
So he sent in his stead, doctor Brian Jacobson of Annex.
(45:45):
Is that it Brian, Dave just doesn't want to admit
I'll beat him by like ten strokes, even with one.
Speaker 12 (45:51):
Well, I was going to say, even with the bum knee.
He's a little intimidating.
Speaker 1 (45:56):
He is he is. No, Actually, Spano is a shockingly
good golfer. I mean he is surprisingly very very good.
He's excellently he's on the course right now. Is he
just just level with.
Speaker 12 (46:09):
No, I believe it or not? Wrapped up in meetings
all day. He is dedicated to his craft, clear, whether
it is wealth management or golfing.
Speaker 1 (46:18):
Yeah. Now, of course, what Brian isn't saying is all
those meetings are on the nineteenth No Wee Kid Day
because we always we always like talking to you, Brian.
How big is the jobs report this week because that
is very likely to potentially impact what the FED and
its new chairman Kevin Warsh does at the next meeting
(46:38):
next month.
Speaker 12 (46:39):
Correct, absolutely, correct, Yeah, this is going to be the
report for the month of April, so we always have
to remember that this is for the previous month. And
we did have a really good report for the month
of February, a big bounce back from the drop in January.
And the consensus seems to be calling for a real
moderation and growth but not at uration, right, so slow
(47:01):
down in the growth rate, but nothing really all that alarming. Now,
this could really set the tone for the future FED
meetings because right now they are thinking that well, with
these high energy prices, right, it affects sentiment at effect spending.
People are going to pull back where you're going to
have less hiring or is it going to create more inflation?
And remember they do have those different mandates. I mean,
(47:23):
technically it's supposed to be full employment, stable prices, and
moderate long term interest rates. And right now they're thinking
that the current setup with high energy prices. It goes
against two of those. It really goes against the full
employment mandate and then also the inflation mandate.
Speaker 1 (47:40):
But we are seeing something pretty close to full employment.
And I don't think there's anybody who actually believes that
high gas prices, at least the spike that we've seen.
I mean, what was it January we had gas prices
at two dollars and ninety three cents on average. I mean,
I don't think there's anybody who truly believes, other than
wish casting Democrats who want there to be seven dollars
(48:02):
a gallon gas right before the midterm so that they
can win and run on that. But I think most
people believe that this is just a temporary price shock
responding to primarily the bottleneck and the strait of horror moves.
And once this sort of gets cleared, that's going to
ease a tremendous amount of pressure.
Speaker 12 (48:23):
It really would, And I think that it could relieve
the pressure very rapidly, faster than what a lot of
people are expecting, because if you suddenly have the US
actually helping to coordinate get people out of there, it's
going to happen a lot faster than if you just
kind of let them all kind of charge for the
exit there. So I think that what President Trump announced
with the Project Freedom, we're going to provide some support there.
(48:46):
Who knows, by tomorrow we could have some sort of
announcement about actually traversing through there mask a very large
shipping company. They already got an escort through, So I
think that there's a precedent here and open up those
flights gates and you're probably going to see oil prices
reverse as quickly as they went up.
Speaker 1 (49:04):
And it certainly seems like the market is already pricing
that in. I saw we had a down day today,
but I mean really, ever since the announcement that there
were going to be talked so that ceasefire was first announced,
the markets just took off and we were seeing gas
prices steadily go up. And remember markets are by necessity
forward looking. It seems as though a dramatic and very
(49:28):
quick reduction in energy prices is already being priced in.
Speaker 12 (49:32):
It is, and that's one of the reasons why I
think that last week we actually had a really good
week for the markets. It was earnings that was number one,
but also number two anticipation of that we are much
closer to the end of this than we are towards
the beginning or even the middle. And just for some perspective,
if you think about this in terms of the number
of hours that somebody has to work to purchase a
(49:53):
gallon of gasoline, it's only about like six minutes as
far as with the national average hourly earnings of like
thirty six dollars. Yeah, so, I mean when you kind
of look at the math where we are now, that's
one of the reasons why, yes, it's uncomfortable to see
gasoline prices where they are, but it's not as economically
damaging as it used to be. Like even if we
(50:14):
go back to say, like two thousand and six, it
would take you know, like fifteen to twenty minutes to
buy a gallon of gasoline, and now it's you know,
six to ten kind of depending upon the industry.
Speaker 1 (50:24):
That's fascinating that I did not think of it in
those terms. Even with hyperinflation the likes of which that
we've seen really over the last five here's the Biden
inflation that just ate into Americans purchasing power. Hey, one
more question before we wrap things up, Ryan, how are
the markets responding to the untimely death of Spirit Airlines.
Speaker 12 (50:46):
Yeah, not a lot of reaction there, mostly because I
think we saw it coming under President Biden. He remember
his administration. They said, hey, we don't want you merging
with Jet Blue. That would probably would have saved them,
And there was a number of failures along the lines here. Yeah,
so is the failure underneath the Biden administration plus the
failure for them to have really I think I had
(51:08):
a little bit too much leverage, and then maybe high
jet field prices was the straw that broke the camel's back,
But there were a lot of straws that were done
to that camel's back before this.
Speaker 1 (51:18):
When you declare bankruptcy twice in what eighteen months, you're
probably not long for this world. So I think you're
definitely right there. The market saw this one coming a
long time ago. Brian, always great chatting with you. Please
do say hi to Dave for me, and I can't
wait to get We got to do another webinars sometime soon,
(51:41):
maybe before I loved it. I'd love to come down
to Annex's headquarters. Annixwealth dot Com is the place you
need to go. These are the folks that I work
with and I cannot recommend them highly enough. I always
tease doctor Jacobson and Dave. These guys know their stuff
(52:02):
and it goes well beyond just knowing your stuff. They're
not trying to sell you a product. And folks, I
can tell you from past experience just managing a portfolio,
managing investments. I have worked with people who are saying, Okay,
well we've got this product that does this and this
product that does this, and I said, well, wait a second,
I'm forty some years old, I've got twenty years of growth.
(52:24):
I want you to be way more aggressive here. I
want you to kick well, you know, we've got this
product that we can No. I don't want to. I
don't want a product. I just want you to take
care of my family's financial future. And that's exactly what
Annex Wealth Management does. They're not trying to sell you something.
What they are doing is building for your family. Check
(52:45):
them out annexwealth dot com. They'll do a review of
your portfolio. They always say, they'll help you know what
you own and why you own it, how much you're
paying for it, your cost base, all of that they'll
help you put and they put it in easy to
understand and terms can't recommend them highly enough annexwealth dot com.
We are going to talk the collapse of Spirit Airlines
(53:09):
and why that blocked merger with JetBlue really was the
death knell two years ago. Stay tuned, we're coming right back.
So the question that nobody is asking after the untimely
demise of Spirit Airlines is where are all the fights
that the ticket counter is going to be?
Speaker 6 (53:29):
Now?
Speaker 1 (53:31):
Literally every time you would see a massive brawl at
an airport, it would be at a Spirit Airlines ticket
counter or at a Spirit Airlines gate. Is that going
to be frontier Southwest? Spirit was probably the most well
known of the ultra low caste low cost carriers. It
(53:54):
made its bones for the last what thirty years I
believe it was a thirty five year old airline, and
it entered into the space just basically promising to undercut
every other airline and essentially to make air travel accessible
to a lower class of society. I don't mean that,
even though I was just talking about a whole lot
(54:16):
of Spirit Airlines customers fighting each other and also fighting
gate agents. If you have not gone on x and
seen some of my favorite was the one it's just
a bunch of Spirit Airlines fights set to Sarah McLaughlin's
I Will Remember You and some sad music lamenting all
of the viral brawls. I mean, the lower socioeconomic classes
(54:41):
which might not otherwise be able to fly. United American
Delta Southwest sort of gets into that low cost space,
but nothing like Spirit Airlines. The problem with that is
you're always going to run into a profit margin issue.
You are more suscepti to high fuel prices. But the
(55:02):
Democrat talking point out today that Spirit Airlines just couldn't
absorb the massive price hikes of the Trump War in
Iran is simply erroneous, and it just ignores the reality
of Spirit's troubles. Spirit was in dire financial straits in
two thousand, pretty much straight through from about twenty eighteen
(55:26):
to about twenty twenty two. Jet Blue, which essentially wanted
to expand its operations and especially into that ultra low
cost space, agreed at the end of twenty twenty two
to acquire Spirit for three point eight billion dollars. This
would have provided a tremendous amount of shareholder value, and
(55:48):
Spirit was going to its shareholders were going to overwhelmingly
vote to be acquired, but because this would have according
to the IIDEN DOJ, under Attorney General Merrick Garland, along
with several Democrat leaning states and the Department of Transportation,
(56:09):
they sued to block that merger, arguing that it would
eliminate what's known as the Spirit effect, the aggressive low
fares that would cost other companies in terms of if
you're going from let's say you need to go from
Milwaukee to Detroit, You're probably not going to want to
take a Delta Airlines or United Airlines flight. Spirit Airlines
(56:34):
it is bare bones accommodations to say the least. And frankly,
I don't think I've been on a Spirit flight in
ten or fifteen years, just because I'm very loyal to Southwest.
I love Southwest Airlines, not particularly happy. I loved the
old cattle call system where you don't have an assigned seat.
You've just got to get first come, first serve. So
(56:56):
it's a game of like musical chairs to try to
get and everybody is sort of like Jenny from Forest
gup SATs tyke and oh wait no, Jenny was the
one who actually let Forest sit down. So you're constantly
looking for a Jenny to let you sit next to her.
But I always fly Southwest. I find them to have
(57:17):
the best prices because we're a hub in Milwaukee, but
they go everywhere. They have a ton of NonStop roots.
That's my biggest thing when flying. I just always want
to fly NonStop, even if it costs me one hundred bucks,
two hundred bucks something like that. It's worth it because
oftentimes I'm going somewhere and it's not going to be
for a particularly long amount of time, like say, if
(57:38):
I'm going to DC or something like that for work,
I need to get there. I can't afford to miss
a connection. So as snobby as I am, I don't.
I didn't fly Spirit because I'm a snob. I just
have another low cost carrier that I like well. The
BIDENDJ said, if Spirit goes away, then competitive will no
(58:00):
longer be forced to compete on price, which is nonsense.
You have Frontier Airlines and Southwest at that slightly higher
tier always competing, and Delta and United and American they're
competing at that higher end with better service. You'll see
(58:21):
the Delta lounge for their frequent flyers. American United you
go down to O'Hare, United has a whole ton of
amenities for its frequent flyers. There are all sorts of
ways for airlines to compete, not just on price. But
the Biden DOJ got it in its head that these
two airlines could not be allowed to merge even though
(58:44):
the big four Delta American, United, and Southwest control eighty
percent of the airline marketplace. By definition, every single one
of those airlines would control a higher percentage of the
airline marketplace then a United JetBlue and Southwell or excuse
(59:07):
me Spirit. By United, I mean the joined the combined company,
call it Jet Spirit. Pete Bootagege, the Transportation Secretary at
the time, actually bragged about shutting down this deal.
Speaker 13 (59:23):
We are taking a step that again is unusual in
terms of recent years, but we think is the right
thing to do, supporting the DOJ's lawsuit and independently using
our own authorities which are a little bit different from
the DOJ, starting our own investigation, and taking other actions.
Speaker 1 (59:41):
So in March you've got all those actions taking effect.
By January of twenty twenty four, remember this is still
a full year before Trump took office, federal judge sides
with the federal government and blocks the deal. Biden administration
actually put out a press release saying this is a
in for consumers. Jet Blue within the next two months
(01:00:05):
abandoned any takeover attempt. Spirit files for Chapter eleven bankruptcy
in November of twenty twenty four. It emerges from the
bankruptcy restructuring in early twenty twenty five, So again this
is well before the current price hikes, and in fact
gas was far lower than it was. In fact, we
(01:00:27):
saw by January of twenty twenty six, gas price is
at their lowest levels since the pandemic, since pre Biden.
Would you believe that gas prices never got below three
dollars a gallon at any point during Biden's presidency after
the first two months after he took office. In fact,
by June of twenty twenty two, we had hit a
(01:00:48):
record all time in the United States. So Spirit was
able to weather much higher price hikes, but they were
so weakened that they needed this lifeline from Jet Blue.
Merge from bankruptcy restructuring, but again last August because they
were still losing so much money. Gas prices again far
(01:01:09):
lower than they are now, far lower than they were
under the Biden regime, they needed to file for bankruptcy again,
and then early Saturday morning, three am to be precise,
Spirit was forced to cease all operations and begin liquidation
because they just couldn't make things work. Had a Jet
(01:01:30):
Blue and Spirit Airlines merger been able to be worked out,
the company might have been able to compete. In fact,
there would have been more consumer choice because you would
have had a bigger, stronger Jet Blue able to compete
with the big four airlines and to provide that same
(01:01:52):
ultra low cost ticket price that Spirit Airlines was trying
to desperately trying to, but simply an able to current
Treasury excuse me, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy this morning on
Fox and Friends said, look, it's pretty obvious what happened
with Spirit Airlines. They were in a ton of trouble,
(01:02:13):
recognized it in twenty twenty two, attempted to be bought,
but the Biden administration simply wouldn't let it.
Speaker 14 (01:02:20):
Hap there was a proposed merger between Jet Blue and
Spirit Airlines in twenty twenty two. The last administration people
to judge, Joe Biden said, you know what we want competition.
We're not going to allow this merger to happen. And
because of that, right after Spirit filed for bankruptcy, and
then last year they filed for bankruptcy a second time.
They were bleeding money, they were bleeding market share. It
(01:02:43):
would have made Jet Blue stronger. You'd had one stronger
airline as opposed to one airline going out of business.
And so the story was written years ago.
Speaker 1 (01:02:52):
It certainly was, and the story was the short sightedness
of the Biden administration. Yes, Elizabeth Warren was the Senator
from Massachusetts urging the entire way for this merger to
be blocked, for the DOJ and the DOT to block
the versus. Well they did. Now, you tell me how
consumers are better off. Would they have been better off
(01:03:14):
with the Jet Blue Spirit Airlines combined airline that's able
to compete with the Big four? Would the Big four
actually feel some heat? The problem was and for those saying, well,
they just couldn't survive the Trump price hikes on gasoline.
If you, honest to goodness, think that a massive, multi
(01:03:34):
billion dollar transnational airline company is forced to go out
of business because prices of gas spiked over the last
week or two, you're insane. These decisions are months and
years in the making and what killed them. What ultimately
(01:03:56):
did kill Spirit Airlines is the fact that there was
a lifeline thrown to them, but instead Democrats, especially those
in the Biden administrations DOJ and DOT, threw them an
anchor instead, and finally, unfortunately, they drowned because of it.
The death of Spirit Airlines not the only big consumer
(01:04:20):
business news today. McDonald's made a major announcement. And as
I was being made fun of mercilessly by my own family,
my dear wife, my lovely teenage son Christopher, who are
listening to me talk about going to McDonald's last week
(01:04:42):
and laughing uproariously, they were both planning on texting me.
I said, look, I don't I don't eat fast food
all that much. And they were apparently in the car
on the way to golf practice or violin or something
like that. You know, liar, liar, he eats fast food
all the time. He's lying to his own audience. I
didn't deny that I ate fast food all the time.
(01:05:04):
I just said I hadn't been to McDonald's in a while,
and I used, excuse me, McDonald's as sort of a
stand in for where America's economy is the Big Mac
Index is. Actually it sort of replaced the basket of
goods for the dollar's purchasing power. The idea is, if
(01:05:27):
the price of fast food gets too high, then you
have got a real serious inflation problem. The Big Mac
Index has been going crazy ever since the start of
the Biden presidency. McDonald's made a major announcement today that
I don't think enough people are paying attention to. May
(01:05:49):
sound small, May sound tiny. In fact, they're doing away
with a staple of McDonald's restaurants, the self serve soda fountain.
For as long as I can remember, and I've been
going to McDonald's for a long long time, they had
(01:06:10):
the self serve soda fountain. What do you suppose they're
they're blaming for the death of the self serve soda fountain,
changing consumer behavior. Now, you might take this to mean,
(01:06:33):
and this is true fast food restaurants. If you have
gone to a fast food or what's known as fast
casual restaurant lately, like I am a huge fan of noodles.
I love noodles. In fact, I have gotten to know
the guy who works the night shift at the Noodles
right by my house, and we sit and chat while
(01:06:55):
they're making my noodles. You think I'm kidding. I am
dead serious about this. I am like a Noodle's rewards.
I love Noodles. I I'm a huge fan of the franchise.
If they are looking for a sponsorship deal, dan O'Donnell
for Noodles the next great brand partnership. I love Noodles.
(01:07:15):
I love Culver's, great Wisconsin institution. Craig Culver I think
is a fantastic dude, great Wisconsin entrepreneur. But because Noodles
is just it's the closest restaurant to my house. Actually
technically that's not true. I think there's an Arby's that's closer,
and there's a Panera that's right there. But I just
(01:07:37):
I go to Noodles all the time. If you have
gone to one of those places, like the step up
from the fast food, it's called fast casual. And this
was all the rage about fifteen years ago. Q Dobo
was the hot stock, it was the hot restaurant. Somewhat
cooled off, but all of these places have had a resurgence.
(01:08:00):
Do you know why, door Dash, Uber, Eats, Postmates, all
of them. Food delivery has been a massive massive boon
to all of these restaurants. So you could take McDonald's
self serve soda fountain demise as yet more evidence that
(01:08:21):
people are no longer dining in, and a lot of
restaurants have had to make major changes. In fact, McDonald's
very recently killed almost all of their play places. They
sort of used the pandemic as an excuse, but really
it's because what they're trying to do. If you noticed
McDonald's when you were growing up, they were just wild
(01:08:45):
looking buildings.
Speaker 11 (01:08:46):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:08:47):
Same thing with Pizza Hut. You can tell. In fact,
there was a joke in the Onion years ago it
was easy to tell Local Bank used to be a
Pizza Hut. The joke was Hut had that distinctive red
roof and it was like this long sloping roof, and
even if you painted the roof of neutral color, you
can still tell it was a pizzah, just like you
(01:09:08):
could tell Coal's Food Stores. They're on Highway one hundred.
I think it was an office Max for a long time,
and it's that big oval building, that semicircle plank. It's
like that's an old Coal's food store. Well, Coal's Food
Stores went under what nineteen nineties, maybe early two thousands.
The idea is that McDonald's the most valuable holding they
(01:09:33):
have is their real estate, the land on which the
business sits, and the building itself, so they want to
make these things look as neutral as possible. They are
downsizing tremendously because they don't need as big a restaurant
space because people just aren't dining in at nearly the
level they used to. People are sending door dash drivers
(01:09:57):
to get them food that are then being delivered to
their house. But you'll notice McDonald's did not say changing
customer habits, which is what you would expect. They said
changing customer behavior. What does that mean? It's because people
(01:10:17):
have been stealing the soda and over and above that
one of the big things in cities that have been
under Democrat control forever San Francisco and the like, you
have homeless people wandering into McDonald's restaurants filling up their
thermoses with power aid that they will then use or
(01:10:39):
soda or whatever that they will then mix booze with
and then just shuffle in on out. And since local
police departments have got way better things to do, and
let's face it, this is part of the Democrat effort
to decriminalize crime. Nobody is being called for the Great
Soda theft of twenty twenty six, So these crimes are
(01:11:03):
just going completely unpunished. Well, when you consider the fact that,
as we established last week, if you raise wages too
much to the point where at twenty twenty five dollars
minimum wage per hour, it simply is impossible to run
a McDonald's franchise. Remember, your average McDonald's franchise brings in
(01:11:26):
four million dollars per year in gross profit. Two and
a half million dollars of that is essentially set aside
for fixed costs property taxes, franchise fees which are substantial,
the cost of ingredients, utilities, and the like. The other
two million one to two million dollars is tied up
(01:11:47):
in salary, non employee salary or non employee costs are
so high that if they go any higher, McDonald's becomes
completely unprofitable. Because the profit margin of restaurants is pretty
notoriously tight, and fast food restaurants because of the nature
of their game, which is a volume game. They're going
(01:12:09):
to sell you a five dollars burger, but they aim
to sell one hundred five dollars burgers in an hour
and a half span. If all of a sudden they're
losing too much soda syrup to theft, it becomes an
issue if there are too many people who are causing
a scene by stealing the soda, and maybe the McDonald's
(01:12:31):
manager comes and there's a conflict and people aren't going
to that McDonald's because who do you typically go to
McDonald's with your kids right to go get a happy meal.
If that is scaring away customers, well then that's a big,
big problem. This is very similar to the issue that
Milwaukee is seeing now with respect to the food trucks.
(01:12:52):
Milwaukee took the exact wrong lesson from the people gathering
around food trucks and causing also of fights. There have
been shootings, there have been brawls, there have been just
public chaos outside of the food trucks. So they say, okay,
let's ban the food trucks. Essentially, McDonald's is saying the
same thing. Since we aren't getting helped. The city of
(01:13:14):
Milwaukee could send more cops, or they could have saturation patrols.
They could if anybody is doing anything that disturbs the
public order, on Water Street and kills the bar scene there.
Just make it such a big offense, such a massive crime,
that nobody would dare do something like that. Again, McDonald's
(01:13:35):
doesn't have that power McDonald's. McDonald's can't set Mayor mccheese
up with a new crime policy where the hamburglar goes
away for twenty five years. Okay, Well, you've got the
soda burglars who are unfortunately causing issues at McDonald's, and
they're saying, there's nothing we can do because we're not
(01:13:55):
getting support from these Democrat controlled cities. So we've essentially
got no choice but to shut down this soda fountain.
Now that becomes an extreme inconvenience for everybody who wants
to get another refill of soda before their wife notices
that they got the extra large instead of just the
large value meal. And you don't want to be called fatty.
(01:14:17):
Not that this has just recently happened to me over
text while doing a radio show, but it just happened
to me over text while doing a radio show. This
is what happens. This is yet another example of why
in democrat controlled cities you have to ask a Walmart
(01:14:39):
employee to open up the case so you could I
forget about razors which have been behind a locked case forever.
You can't even get shaving cream anymore. You go into Milwaukee,
you go into any of these cities, you just can't
get it. Basically, the entire toiletries section are behind glass.
(01:15:01):
It's because there is so much theft that has just
sort of been allowed. This is a telltale sign of
a society that has just well and truly decided that
it is not going to enforce its own societal norms. Essentially,
the soda fountain is emblematic and only really works in
(01:15:25):
a high trust society. There is a social contract with
respect to the soda fountain, and that is, Okay, you're
going to we're going to put all this soda out here,
and we're going to trust if you get a water
cup that you're actually going to fill it with water
and not sprite. Well, well, beyond that, what happens when
(01:15:46):
people just sort of come in, they don't buy anything.
And let's face it, like you're fourteen year old on
the bike who thinks he's committing like the greatest heist
known to man. Everybody did it. I can remember doing
it at a taco bell when I was like twelve
and thinking I was al Capone who I filled up
my water cup with sprite. I hope they don't notice.
(01:16:08):
These restaurants will be tolerant of that. The issue is
now that you've got people who are just coming up
and filling up a giant mug or a giant thermos,
not buying anything, and then just walking out over what's that? Oh,
(01:16:29):
we gotta go to break Okay, we're gonna step aside
for a commercial. Oh my gosh, yes we are, producer Eric,
always keeping me on time. We're gonna step aside for
a break back. Before you know it. Here on the
Dan o'donalds Show. Final hour starts right now here on
the Dan o'donald's show, Welcome to a chance for you
to win a thousand bucks in our Spring Green Cash
(01:16:50):
contest coming up in just a second. First, though, we
are following some breaking news outside of the White House.
Secret Service agents have shot and injured an armed man.
This was near the Washington Monuments, so I guess a
little farther down from the White House, incident unfolded around
(01:17:11):
three point thirty a plane clothes officer spotted the suspect
with a visible firearm near fifteenth and Independence. When approached,
the man fled and opened fire on officers. A return
fire striking of a teenage bystander suffered minor injuries. No
Secret Service personnel were hurt. The wife house was briefly
locked down as precaution, but President Trump continued with his
(01:17:34):
scheduled small business event inside uninterrupted. The suspect is in
custody and undergoing treatment as the investigation continues. It is
not believed. It is not believed that this was an
attempted attack on President Trump or anything like that. The
President did launch Operation Project or excuse me, Project Freedom
(01:17:55):
today with US Navy forces guiding American flag merchant missiles
through the critical waterway of the Strait of Hormus amid
the Iran conflict. Now. Iran did claim today that its
forces struck a US warship with missiles after it ignored warnings,
but the Pentagon firmly denied any hit occurred, calling the
(01:18:16):
reports propaganda. And former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani
is reported to be in critical but stable condition at
a hospital that sparked concern among political allies and observers.
Details on his exact medical situation remain limited. Updates are
continuing to emerge, And wouldn't you know it, ladies and gentlemen,
(01:18:38):
this just into us at the Heartland Post guests who
just posted if Rudy kicks the bucket, it's buy one,
get one free day hashtag free beer day, with a
picture of a button that says, I wish it was
(01:19:02):
free beer Day Monocua Brewing Company. He's all yours, Dems,
he is all yours. Clearly he's doing this for effect.
He is like an overgrown and by overgrown, I mean
like morbidly obese twelve year old edge lord. You know
(01:19:24):
how like when we were growing up, or at least
when I was growing up, it was like the kids
who wanted to rebel against their upper middle class upbringing. Oh,
they had it so rough. Mom was mean to me.
They started wearing all black and listening to Marilyn Manson. Well,
apparently the adult version of that is you grow man boobs,
(01:19:46):
start a brewery and then post death wishes about Republicans.
Time now to win one thousand bucks in the Spring
Green Cash Contest the word this Hour coin. See oh
I you have gone until five point fifty five to
go to our website and enter the keyword coin to
enter the contest for this hour. If your entry is
(01:20:08):
picked at random, you will win some serious coin one
thousand dollars in fact in our Spring Green Cash contest.
Coming up at the bottom of the hour. About twenty
twenty five minutes away, we will talk to a couple
of local conservative authors, James and John Wegner. They have
come up with a brand new novella which teaches conservative themes.
(01:20:32):
It is called Six Against Tyranny The Tablet of Omnu.
It is a fantasy novella that has conservative themes. We
are going they're from right here in Greenfield, and I
am very excited to welcome them to the Dan O'Donnells
Show and to hopefully sell a couple of copies of
their work. It is available in digital format as well,
(01:20:55):
as I believe they said, a hardcover edition as well,
kindle edition. Very very cool. Always want to support local
conservatives when I can't well, we talked about a shooting incident.
Just broke that news about a shooting incident. I guess
the initial reports were that it was a lot closer
to the White House than it was the Washington Monument.
(01:21:15):
The Washington Monument is obviously within walking distance. It's on
one end of the National Mall. The US Capital is
on the other. It is very close, actually, I guess
the one end is the Lincoln Memorial. The Washington Monument
is sort of a set a little off, but it
is relatively close to the White House. The initial reports
(01:21:38):
were that this was a lot closer to the White
House than the Washington Monument. Now it's entirely possible that
the suspect was seen nearer to the White House and
Secret Service agents just kind of tailed him until he
got to the Washington Monument and then they saw the gun.
I'm not entirely sure this just happened, but this obviously
(01:22:00):
coming a little more than a week after a very
serious attempt on the life of the president, and according
to the would be assassin Cole Allen, as many cabinet
secretaries as he could possibly take out at the White
House correspondence dinner. That suspect was in court today and
(01:22:20):
a liberal federal judge, if you can believe that, apologized
to him the would be presidential assassin. Fox News Mike
Emmanuel this after.
Speaker 15 (01:22:34):
Joe Zia Faraqui apologized to suspect Cole Allen for the
treatment he's received so far.
Speaker 1 (01:22:41):
While he's been behind bars.
Speaker 15 (01:22:43):
He's been put on suicide watch by the Department of Corrections,
and the judge was asking why. An attorney for the
government said that he was put on suicide watch because
he told FBI agents the night of the White House
Correspondence dinner attack that he didn't expect to survive, and
his language suggested that he really was not expecting to
survive his trip to Washington, d C. And the ultimate
(01:23:06):
incident where he allegedly showed up with a weapon to
try and assassinate President Trump. He's been charged with that crime,
but the judge very concerned about his constitutional rights, saying
the defendant has requested a Bible, has requested meetings with
his legal team, and that has not been allowed. He's
been put in restrictive twenty four hour lockup with no
(01:23:28):
windows in a padded room, without an opportunity to get
out for recreation. And so the judge making it clear
to the Department of Corrections that he wants answers by
tomorrow morning about exactly what the housing determination will be
made for the suspect in this case out of grave
concern about his constitutional rights, and that apology issued near
(01:23:48):
the end of the hearing, and so quite a moment
just moments ago in federal court.
Speaker 1 (01:23:53):
Now, if you could feel your blood boiling listening to
Mike Emmanuel's report, just imagine who were Larry Kudlow he
was filling in for. Is it John Roberts, Not the
Chief Justice at the Supreme Court, but the John Roberts
over at Fox News. Who's on with? Oh my gosh,
(01:24:13):
not Martha McCallum. I watched the show every afternoon. It
is on while I'm getting ready to do this radio show,
and for goodness sakes, I cannot remember who it is.
That's not idea. I think it's Martha McCallum. But in
any event, so Larry Kudlow was filling in for John Roberts,
and as soon as Mike Emmanuel stopped, Cudlow just couldn't
(01:24:34):
contain himself with how disgusting he was.
Speaker 4 (01:24:37):
My people might be shocked by that.
Speaker 16 (01:24:40):
The judge apologized to this guy who's a killer, who,
if he had gotten another couple of yards, would have
sprayed the whole audience in the Correspondence Center. I mean,
we would have just sprayed him and killed god knows how many,
and then would have marched up and taken a shot
over the whole audience at the President.
Speaker 1 (01:25:01):
We're apologizing to this guy. I don't get that. Neither
do I Larry. Neither do I. We are all Larry
Kudlow in this moment. Now, Zia Mustafa Faro Kui is
not a bad guy from Aladdin. No. He is a
(01:25:21):
US magistrate judge for the US District of Columbia. He
was actually appointed by the district judges. So federal district
judges are appointed by the president and then they appoint
their magistrate judges. Well. Of course, the majority on the
District of Columbia Court of Appeals were appoint or district
(01:25:43):
district Court were appointed by Democrats. So this guy is
rather obviously a far left LIB. And yes, obviously we
must always be conscious of the rights of the accused,
of the rights of de taines. This is something that
makes the United States the United States. But when he
(01:26:07):
tells officers that he didn't think he would make it out,
and there is ample evidence that the intended result here
was he assassinates as many people as he can, and
then he dies in a suicide by cop. This guy,
when you do, like a narudo, run through a security gate,
(01:26:28):
armed with a couple of guns, passed about one hundred
Secret Service agents into a room where there are probably
about a thousand Secret Service agents more I'm embellishing. Of course,
you do not expect to make it out that is
someone who is by definition suicidal. This is someone, by
(01:26:49):
definition who we want to So the idea here is
in federal detention to keep this guy alive. We don't
want him offering himself because we want to find out
why it was he did what he did. But clearly
he wanted to kill Trump. He made that abundantly clear
in the note he left. He left a manifesto in
(01:27:10):
which he sounded exactly like mainstream Democrats saying that Trump
is a pedophile protectors, Trump is a fascist. Trump is
a threat to democracy. It's also banal. It is also
just wrote. It's boring, Frankly, it's boring. Come up with
new material, Dems. Seriously, when even your unhinged, murderous psychopaths
(01:27:33):
just bore me with how standard and mainstream your rhetoric is.
You guys have well and truly gone off the deep end.
This was not a case in which the judge had
legitimate concerns that this guy's habeas rights were being violated.
It's oh my goodness. He couldn't get a bible, he
(01:27:57):
couldn't pray. I'm sorry, he was just at a hearing
in which his council was present. Clearly, his rights are
not being violated. But yet again, this is part and
parcel of a federal judiciary at the judiciary period that
(01:28:19):
is so left wing that there is not a moment's
concern about the victims of crimes, whereas there is an
overarching sense that somehow the justice system has wronged all
those who come before it. Need we remind this magistrate
judge that this guy wanted to kill the president. Not
(01:28:43):
just the President of the United States. This guy wanted
to wipe out the entire cabinet and potentially the line
of succession. The House Speaker, Mike Johnson was in attendance,
the Vice president. He wanted to take out as many
people as humanly. He said so in his manifesto. But yet,
(01:29:03):
somehow we're concerned that this guy, this guy didn't have
a Bible. We're very worried that this guy didn't have
a Bible. Look, this is just a very high profile
example of what we see in Milwaukee County, in Dane County,
sadly too often in conservative counties like Waukeshaw, with judges
(01:29:26):
coddling criminals because there is this sort of belief on
the left that they do not have individual agency in
that they don't have full responsibility for their actions, that
somehow society wronged them, that somehow they are the victim
by virtue of being before a process that is inherently racist,
(01:29:49):
inherently bigoted, inherently protects the status quo of the millionaires
and the billionaires and the capitalists, that this is somehow
a system that we need to strike down, and that
the role of the judge, Now, how possibly can this
judge be considered to be fair in any stretch of
(01:30:09):
the imagination, by any stretch of the imagination, How can
this judge fairly administer this case?
Speaker 17 (01:30:15):
Now?
Speaker 1 (01:30:15):
Fortunately, he I believe is not going to be the
one magistrate. Judges typically will just take care of administrative
things like bail hearings and this sort of thing. But
how can this judge, who has already shown a bias.
I am deeply troubled by what the DOJ is doing,
but what the Department of Corrections is doing, the people
(01:30:39):
who are handling the holding of this would be assassin.
He just revealed overt bias there, and sadly it's not
just limited to Zia Faruqui. Go to any courtroom in Milwaukee.
I believe there's a grand total of one, maybe two
(01:31:02):
judges who aren't complete loans when it comes to their
true abiding belief that criminals are the actual victims of
society here, that they only acted, they only committed this
crime because well of systemic poverty and systemic racism that
didn't allow them to get ahead. I can think of
(01:31:23):
one judge off the top of my head in Milwaukee County,
David Borowski, who does not subscribe to that nonsense, and
as a result, he is probably the only judge in
Milwaukee County where you are going to see justice actually administered.
When we come back. A rough day for Elon Omar,
who revealed a little something about Democrat plans for judges,
(01:31:46):
specifically those on the Supreme Court. Stay tuned. State lawmakers
in Minnesota have suboenaed records from congresswomen Elon Omar related
to the assive fraud case coming out of that.
Speaker 18 (01:32:03):
Stage, and so the lawmakers are asking Congresswoman Ilhan Omar
to respond by Tuesday regarding questions about a statewide child
nutrition fraud scheme. The lawmakers are seeking Omar's written in
electronic communications involving the States Feeding Our Future program, which
misused millions of dollars in taxpayer funds. State lawmakers specifically
hoping to look at Omar's correspondence with the owners of
(01:32:24):
the Safari restaurant. State lawmakers point out Omar was a
regular at that restaurant, staging many campaign events there. Its
owners recently pleaded guilty for their role in the two
hundred and fifty million dollar fraud scheme that.
Speaker 1 (01:32:37):
By the way from News Nation Today. Omar also recently
shut down the winery that her husband and her allegedly own,
the winery that was the source of their thirty million
dollar net worth. The winery also that didn't really exist.
(01:32:58):
There was a website, the physical address led to a
parking lot of another business. The phone number disconnected. It
did not go to a winery, It did not go anywhere.
It was impossible to buy actual wine from the website.
It didn't seem to exist as a real business at all.
(01:33:18):
It was a shell company. Well, that business mysteriously shut
down just as it was revealed that there was a
congressional investigation into Omar's net worth. Now this happened at
around the same time that Omar said, oopsie daisy, oopsie daisy.
Remember how I said my net worth was thirty million dollars.
(01:33:38):
That was actually a typo. It's really about ninety thousand dollars.
Now Elon Omar, Well, all this was going on last
week was the butt of some jokes. Why because in
a resurfaced clip from early twenty twenty five, she referred
(01:33:59):
to the between the United States and Japan and Nazi
Germany in the nineteen forties as World War eleven.
Speaker 17 (01:34:07):
The last time the Alien Enemies Act was invoked. It
was used to detain and deport German Japanese Italian immigrants,
doing World War eleven two one of the most shameful
chapters of American history.
Speaker 1 (01:34:25):
Clearly, she misread the II in World War two. You
know the Roman numeral. She misread that as World World
War eleven. Ladies and gentlemen. This weekend, she made another
gaff where she just read off the teleprompter or read
off her notes without ever actually thinking about what it
(01:34:49):
was she was saying. She was talking about Democrats planning
to pack the Supreme Court, which they absolutely are planning
to do if and when they retake control of Congress
and the presidency. She said, the last time the court
expanded was in nineteen eighty nine, since eighty.
Speaker 19 (01:35:10):
Nine, the last time the court was.
Speaker 1 (01:35:12):
Expanded nineteen eighty nine. Huh No, that would be eighteen
sixty nine when the Supreme Court, which initially had six justices,
was expanded to nine. Do you know why it was
expanded to nine justices because, quite literally, there were too
many cases for six justices to handle. Do you know
(01:35:36):
why we call circuit courts circuit courts because the judges
who were on those circuit courts would literally be riding
a circuit and they would go around to various courthouses
in their districts to hear disputes. We dramatically expanded the
judiciary because of the westward expansion of the eighteen four
(01:36:00):
parties straight through to about the nineteen hundreds. Would you say,
by any stretch of the imagination, there are too many
US Supreme Court cases for nine justices to handle. No,
of course not. The reason we expanded in eighteen sixty
nine is six justices couldn't handle the volume of cases
(01:36:22):
that were going before the US Supreme Court. Now the
US Supreme Court rejects, in other words, does not grant
review to the overwhelming majority of cases that potentially could
come before it, because so many constitutional issues are already
settled that there isn't a new issue that arises within
(01:36:45):
the established case law that would be worth their while hearing.
It doesn't matter, though, that the only reason that courts
were ever expanded was because we don't have enough judges
to hear the number of cases. On Omar in this
forty five second SoundBite makes it clear that she is
(01:37:07):
going to support and her fellow Democrats are going to
support packing the Supreme Court as soon as they retake power,
solely so they can get whatever nonsense they want legalized.
And the Conservative majority disappears instantly.
Speaker 19 (01:37:23):
Unresting change the number of justices on the Court at
any time, and has done so seven times throughout our
history since nineteen eighty nine, the last time the Court
was expanded, The US population has sworn by over eight
hundred percent the Yet the Court has stayed sagnant at
(01:37:49):
nine justices in the face of the stolen seat, a
sitting justice implicated in a coup attempt, and a dangerous
crisis of legitimacy this contest, this common sense reform should
absolutely be at the team.
Speaker 1 (01:38:06):
A dangerous crisis of legitimacy. I don't recall anyone talking
about a legitimacy crisis when gay marriage was legalized. I
don't recall anybody talking about a legitimacy crisis on the
court whenever the Court has ruled in favor of Democrats.
(01:38:29):
But this is something that Democrats absolutely are going to do.
Hakeem Jeffries last week all but confirmed it in the
new Congress.
Speaker 20 (01:38:36):
We're going to have to do something about this Supreme Court.
And let me be very clear, everything is on the table,
everything to deal with this corrupt MAGA majority that is
issuing political opinions that are designed to bolster.
Speaker 1 (01:38:51):
The prospects of the Republican Party, and we will not
allow them to succeed. Uh huh. So Democrats are clearly
going to try to pack the court and there will
be no check on their power if they regain control
of Congress in twenty twenty six and win the presidency
in twenty twenty eight, which is certainly possible, except, of course,
(01:39:13):
they always forget. Do you know who has the last
word about expanding the Supreme Court? The Supreme Court itself.
If it is determined that the Court would be expanded
solely for the purposes of diluting votes and gaining political advantage,
that would violate the Constitution, because, as I said, the
(01:39:38):
only reason, the only established reason that it is permissible
for Congress to add seats to the Court is because
there isn't enough of a judiciary to handle all of
the And it just seems logical, doesn't it. When there
were six justices and the Court ruled in I Believe
(01:39:59):
eighteen oh two, eighteen oh three, and Marbury versus Madison,
that the Constitution establishes a Supreme Court, but it didn't
really say what the Supreme Court does well. In Marbury v. Madison,
the Court determined that its role was constitutional review to
determine whether acts of the Congress acts of the Presidency
comport with the Constitution. It decided that in Marbury v. Madison,
(01:40:25):
and it will decide therefore whether the Congress is able
to expand the court. Well back then right afterwards, there
were all sorts of constitutional questions constantly coming into the
six justices. There wasn't enough of a built up history
(01:40:46):
of case law for the court to be able to say, okay, well,
this issue is already decided, we're not going to take
up this case. There were pressing issues of constitutionality for
the first seventy eighty years of the court that necessitates
had nine justices all writing opinions, when those opinions would
be published a couple of times per year. And again,
(01:41:08):
because things just moved far more slowly from the circuit
courts to the appellate courts all the way up to
the Supreme Court, you could have made the case that
it was physically necessary to have more judges, but to
just say, well, this court is illegitimate and we're going
to appoint a whole lot of justices because they agree
(01:41:28):
with us. This was tried once before the nineteen thirties,
not coincidentally by Democrats in the White House. FDR wanted
to pack the court because the Congress, or rather the
Supreme Court was blocking all of his new Deal legislation.
Because it was a gross unconstitutional overreach. It was a
(01:41:48):
usurpation of congressional authority in the Supreme Court rightly called
him out on it. So his strategy was, Okay, we're
going to just pack the Supreme Court. I believe he
wanted to add five or six new justices, so you
could just be like, Okay, well, all these judges are
loyal to me, and they're going to pass all of
my new deal legislation. Well, members of his own party
rebelled and said, no, this is an even worse power
(01:42:11):
grab than anything you had done before. Clearly, a president
AOC is going to propose court packing, and the Democrats
in Congress are going to go along with it. But
if the Supreme Court determines that this is yet another
fdrsque power grab, which it would be, they would necessarily
strike it down as unconstitutional. A pair of local authors
(01:42:35):
with a conservative work that you need to know about
coming up next. Welcome back to the Dan o'donald's show.
Little known fact about Me. I am a massive fan
of the fantasy genre. Love me some Game of Thrones.
I thought a Night of the Seven Kingdoms the New
Game of Thrones show was one of the best series
(01:42:57):
that I have watched in a long long time. In fact,
I watched it twice. My wife and I saw it,
and then I said, my teenage sons have to see
this because it was shockingly conservative in its messaging. Well,
my guests right now are a couple of fantasy authors
from right here in southeast Wisconsin who are also infusing
(01:43:21):
their work with conservative messaging. James and John Wegner are
my guests. Their new novella is six Against Tyranny, The
Tablet of Oh Maine. You, James, John, Welcome to the
Dan O'Donnell Show.
Speaker 6 (01:43:40):
Bil, thank you for having not this and honor. Yes,
it is.
Speaker 1 (01:43:44):
The the The honor is all mine. Guys, tell me
about the book. It just released, boyd on the on
the thirtieth, just a couple of days ago.
Speaker 6 (01:43:53):
Huh, yes, April thirtieth, right before me.
Speaker 1 (01:43:59):
So you got you gotta jump on all the crazy protests.
Speaker 6 (01:44:02):
Huh yeah, just the deat was played on ONTs in advance,
so we did everybody control over that bunch. Yeah, but
we thought who dance ring before bed? Then we were
hoping you do this interview before then, but that we're
doing it on me fourth.
Speaker 1 (01:44:18):
So you yes, you know that I wanted to. I
wasn't sure if you guys were big Star Wars guys. Uh.
But there is a whole lot of talk about how
the new Star Wars movie Mandalorian and Grogu is just
tracking to be a complete disaster because of the left
wing overtones in the Star Wars film since Disney took over.
(01:44:40):
And I wonder do you guys, as I'm assuming big
Fantasy fans, do you guys see that as a big
reason that I think the fantasy audience has sort of rebelled,
not just against Star Wars but the the the Amazon
Lord of the Rings series, which is just an abomination.
Speaker 17 (01:44:59):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:44:59):
Is is that what sort of motivated you to write
six against Tyranny?
Speaker 6 (01:45:04):
I would say, yeah, I mean I start. We started
in two thousand and nine, and it took us a
long time to finally you'll get it edited and everything
and get it published. And we were just tired of
all like the liberals and media like Hollywood and music
and arts and entertainment in general, putting their messages in it.
(01:45:26):
And we thought we need more conservative people who will
do things in our entertainment. And we liked writing, we
always have, so we thought, well, we're concerned like writing,
let's combine it, because you don't find many conservatives in
this kind of thing, and we wanted to make conservatives
kind of like cool again because a lot of hasn't
(01:45:47):
see conservatives and stuff. It's always kind of like, U dork,
you're kind of lame, like when you think of like
Republicans and stuff, you think of like Carlton from My
Fresh Prince of bel Air.
Speaker 1 (01:45:58):
Yep ye what.
Speaker 6 (01:46:00):
Tom Jones, Yes exactly, And I'm like, okay, we it's
just kind of like we need something that's a little
cooler than that, more fun. Yeah. So so yeah, that's
that's one of the reasons.
Speaker 1 (01:46:16):
So tell tell me about the book. Tell me about
Six Against Tyranny, Like what what what age is it
set in? Like is it is it sort of the
medieval fantasy world?
Speaker 6 (01:46:29):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (01:46:29):
Tell tell me about the basic plot.
Speaker 6 (01:46:31):
Okay, Well, most fantasy books take place like like Lord
of the Reason, Game of Throttles, kind of like good
Middle Ages around that time period, and we didn't want
to do the regu a little different, so we chose
eighteen ninety. So it's kind of like right around like
the Industrial Revolution. Yeah, and it's not gonna be like exactly,
(01:46:52):
it's not historical fiction in the subset that's gonna really
like after a detail with that stuff, but it will
have more. You'll have like the technology from the time
a little bit more.
Speaker 1 (01:47:04):
Is it a little more like steampunk.
Speaker 6 (01:47:09):
Maybe later on this one specifically. Yeah. So the way
it breaks down is that we the idea is to
do three books in total, but each one would be
divided in half, so there'd be six books in total.
So this one is that was just released is the
(01:47:33):
first half of the first book. So yeah, so there's
a second part of this book, and the pot of
this book is a group of men called Hexammortal. They're
the good guys. They are trying to say the city
called Alan from a like an evil government. So it's
kind of like classic good versus evil, you know, like
Star Wars. Yeah, example that science and really quick, I
(01:48:00):
want to mention they have to find a mysterious artifact
that this the hablet of a Me and You, which
can be used for evil. They have to stop all
that from happening in say the city. Because we're fans
of the classic good verse evil storyline and like Game
of Thrones, which we saw the TV show. We didn't
read the books yet, but we've seen the TV show.
(01:48:21):
We really like it.
Speaker 1 (01:48:22):
Yeah, me too.
Speaker 10 (01:48:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:48:24):
But most of the characters, though, are you know, like
morally ambiguous, right, like bring Dars. Yeah, Like they're both
like kind of like good and bad, which is fine,
but we kind of want to go back to more
of like the traditional fancy where you have like clear
good and clear evil. Yeah, not seeing that the good
guys aren't perfect, but they're not like bad. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:48:45):
Well, and it's it's it's also like what I've noticed
in a whole lot of not just fantasy, but you know,
you see this sort of in Disney stuff too, where
it's like, well, the bad guys aren't really bad, they're
just misunderstood by society. I think the retelling of Sleeping
Beauty Maleficent with Angelina Joe Lead maybe fifteen years ago
(01:49:05):
or so that sort of started this, And that's sort
of like the liberal moral relativism that sort of seeps
into fiction where it's like, well, no, there's not really
black and white, good and evil. It's all just like
sort of this gray continuum. And I can sort of
see how without hitting anybody over the head in six
(01:49:26):
against Tyranny, you just by virtue of having clearly defined moral,
unambiguous roles that that's very conservative in its messaging.
Speaker 6 (01:49:39):
Yes, and again, not everything in life is purely black
and white. There can be great area as we understand that,
but there are just some things where they are black
and white. And I know in a lot of modern
stories they do like Hollywood and stuff, tried to get
you to like not understand villains but like sympathize with them.
(01:50:01):
Yeah they have degree and again again we understand that. Yeah,
look like villains, you do want to understand where they're
coming from, but you don't want to camp the audience
like make them out to be the good guy and
you want to being villain, but at the end of
(01:50:22):
the d still want to be like, oh, yeah, they're
the bad guy now like huk Bibe here the good
guy along.
Speaker 1 (01:50:28):
Absolutely, guys. I love it. I love the fact that
we have got some up and coming fantasy writers, some
great conservatives from right here in Greenfield, Wisconsin, which just
happens to be my hometown. So you know I'm going
to be rooting for you. Uh it is out six
against Tyranny. The tablet of o Manu in paperback form
(01:50:51):
digital version as well. What anywhere you can buy books Amazon,
Barnes and Noble pretty much everywhere.
Speaker 6 (01:50:58):
Huh, it's it's meaningly digital. I don't think there are
any physical copies in any stores yet. So when we
say bargin Noble, it's the barge Noble's website.
Speaker 1 (01:51:09):
Yeah, oh sure.
Speaker 6 (01:51:10):
Sure is Defiance Press and Publishing and Beames Published Drive,
which puts your book on all sorts of websites so
it's sold all over the world and all kinds of
weird plays. So Defiance Press is a conservative publisher beef
from Texas.
Speaker 1 (01:51:28):
Defiance Press.
Speaker 6 (01:51:30):
Yes, I love find pressent publishing and the specializes in
both fiction and non fiction for conservative and libertarian readers.
Speaker 1 (01:51:39):
I love it well. I'll tell you what if you
if you look at my screen, if you're watching on
the live stream right now, we have got the cover which,
by the way, just looks Bostome the cover of this
I'm absolutely loving.
Speaker 8 (01:51:54):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:51:54):
You can find it Amazon dot com. Guys. I am
I really think this is a thing. I am a
big supporter of the arts. I'm a big supporter of creativity,
and I love that you guys were able to do
this as brothers without murdering each other. So that is
a very cool thing. Man.
Speaker 6 (01:52:13):
Yeah, we came cloth a couple of times were really
find a way to work it out. They have people
on the right or just people who aren't the weird
crazy fuddle on the left. Not a lot of them
do this kind of stuff, like a lot of creative stuff.
So we thought, well, since we're good at it, or
we thought we were good at do we give it
(01:52:34):
a try because I think we need more stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (01:52:37):
Oh go ahead, Oh, I was.
Speaker 6 (01:52:39):
Just gonna say that him being on your shows great
because we have a platform to help us and they
as conservatives, we need to work as a team together.
Speaker 1 (01:52:47):
We sure as could do. And guys, it is absolutely
my pleasure to help the book once again, Six Against
Tyranny The Tablet of O Manu get out their purchase
it digital version, Amazon dot Com, Barnes and Noble, pretty
much wherever. James and John Wegner, a couple of local
(01:53:09):
boys making good as we speak, guys, really do appreciate
you coming on the program. Gotta cut it right there
because we are I couldn't talk to them about fantasy
and that sort of stuff. All evening long, but my
producer is saying, we gotta wrap it up, gotta wrap
it up. Six against Tyranny The Tablet of Ominu by
(01:53:30):
James and John Wegner. Guys, absolutely do appreciate you taking
the time you are listening to the Dan o'donald show
back to wrap things up shortly right here on the
Dan o'donald show. Yeah, if you are a fan of
the fantasy genre, get that book, Six against Tyranny. The
(01:53:50):
Wegner Brothers very very cool cats. I just love the
fact that people from our area are getting into those
spaces that are dominated by liberals and saying, you know,
we're not going to hit you over the head with
conservatism in our novella. We're just going to have traditional values,
something that isn't going to hit you over the head
(01:54:12):
with a woke agenda. And on this May the fourth
Star Wars Day, that's really the thing that killed the
Star Wars franchise under Disney that they just showed no
respect for the original trilogy, the source material, put out
a subpar product. They did one show where it was
(01:54:33):
like lesbian space witches created the Force. What okay, you
think I'm kidding lesbian Space Witches that was mercifully canceled
after one season. We were pretty much out of time.
I could go on for five more. I should do
a special live stream just crapping on Star Wars from
a conservative perspective. But by six against tyranny, Amazon, Barnes
(01:54:57):
and Noble wherever back tomorrow, three h six p right
here on the Dan O'donnald Show.
