around the National Football League, including Bill Belichick talking a
quarterback who can't help himself. And we've got some optimism
for the defending Super Bowl champs. It's all yours coming
up next here, Two Pros and a Cup of Joe,
a solo edition. Jonas knocks with you here on a

(00:41):
Monday Fox Sports Radio. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

world of football, and it was displayed last night. We'll

a couple of moments. From now to pros and a

We will take you all the way up until nine
am Eastern times, six o'clock Pacific right here on fs ARE.

(01:28):
So this is gonna be a fun one. Listen. A
lot of people very happy that the college football is back,
the return of college football. The game last night between
l s U and Florida State was absolutely bananas. We've
got another one to work with later on tonight with
Georgia Tech and Clemson kicking off in Atlanta later on
this evening, but last night was on full display. All right.

(01:50):
It's very obvious that people feel the way that they
feel about a certain somebody in the world of college football.
There's a brand new villain in the world of college football,
and that Ellen's name is Brian Kelly. Now, Brian Kelly
made a decision and it was a decision that was
not very well liked by a lot of people. But

(02:12):
if you've paid any attention to Brian Kelly's story or
in his background, asked the people in Cincinnati about Brian Kelly,
he bolted for them similarly to how he bolted Notre
Dame to go to L. S U. And he left
the Bearcats to go to Notre Dame. And if I'm
not mistaken, it was right before bowl game as well too.
So Brian, this isn't like this is the first trip

(02:33):
around this sort of circus for Brian Kelly. It's not
like the this is this is kind of what he's
done before. This is this is par for the course
when it comes to Brian Kelly. But it was funny
because last night, if you didn't watch the game and
all you did was go on social media and all
you did was look at some of the reactions and

(02:53):
some of the feedback from people on social media, you
would have thought L. S U was getting buried by
four touchdowns. You would have thought it was a disaster.
You had memes, you had gifts, you had all sorts
of stuff that was being thrown out there because everybody
was rallying and rooting around, rooting against Brian Kelly. It
was phenomenal and all it did was showcase that this

(03:16):
has nothing to do with Brian Kelly the coach, has
nothing to do with the situation at l s U,
And the situation at l s U is this. They
were in the market for a head coach because they've
been on a little bit of a down slide since
their national championship year with coach o who you know.
The the pictures of coach of Ed Orgern and um,
you know one of his female acquaintances laying in a

(03:38):
bed together started to resurface last night. That was always
fun for anybody else to watch if you wanted to
get creeped out at all, that was always something you
could tune into. But the whole thing with Brian Kelly's
fascinating because it's got zero to do with him as
a coach. This has everything to do with Brian Kelly
and his fake Louisiana accent that he had at an

(04:00):
l s U basketball game. Has nothing to do with
him as a coach. Like I said, he's pulled this
stuff before he's left a program to go to another
one like Notre Dame. Fans like, why wou the hell
would you leave us? What do you mean? He did
the same thing to Cincinnati and by the way, got
about ninety million dollars a year, or ninety million dollars
over what eight or nine year stretch to go to

(04:21):
l s U dudes getting paid. But all of this
has to do with the fact that he showed you
how everything was made. That's all this is. For example,
it's a labor day, right, It's gonna be a lot
of people out there barbecuing. It's gonna be a lot
of people out there coming up later on. They're gonna
be ripping beers. Maybe you know one or two heaters

(04:45):
behind their ear. You know, flask in the back pockets.
And when you tell your wife like hey, I'm gonna
go out there and check on the chicken, you lift
the grill lit up and you duck down and start
slamming out of the flask. Come on, it's the oldest
trick in the book. We all know it. Come on, guys,
everybody knows it. You know the old song and dance.
I don't want it to see me having another beer.
So you make sure you don't actually leave any of

(05:06):
the cans around or any of the bodies. So what
do you do. You you dump everything into a cup,
and then you make sure that you're the one that
takes out the trash. Okay, that that is rule number one.
Don't want it to see any of this stuff. I'll
be the guy to take out the trash. And then
you'll throw a steak on the grill. You know, you'll
season it, you'll sauce it up, and you'll slow cook
it so it takes a little bit longer, so you

(05:27):
can have a couple of more drinks. Because these are
this is what everybody. A lot of people are gonna
be pulling this stunt later on today. Trust me, I've
been there all right, every trick in the book. Here's
the reality. Though you're satisfied and you're happy cooking the steak,
you're even more happy eating the steak. You probably don't

(05:47):
want to see how that steak got to the supermarket though.
Right like the supermarket near my house, they got rib
E's on sale, like one of those value pack deals
to where its like seven pound. I can are you
those things are gonna be almost gone when I go
to the store later on to pick up a ribby.
And the only reason I'm doing it is because, Hey,
it's not fancy steakhouse quality, but it's gonna be quality

(06:10):
enough to where I could throw it on the grill
and if I had enough seasoning, not bad, and I'll
work with that. Let me tell you something, I don't
want to know how that steak got to that supermarket.
Not interested. Okay, I've seen no country for old men,
I know with that cattle bullet does all right, I've
seen all I need to see. I don't want to
see how that steak got to that shelf and into

(06:33):
my bag that I probably have to pay ten cents
for because I forgot the bag at home to bring
home to throw on a grill to slow cook so
I can drink more, just so my wife doesn't know
what's going on. I don't. I don't want to see
how it got there. Not interested, because once I see
how it gets there, all of a sudden, it makes
me think differently about the steak. All Brian Kelly did.

(06:55):
We'll show you how the steak got there. Brian Kelly
has pulled this before. He's left another program to go
to another program for a better opportunity. He's used programs
as a step ladder to get to where he wanted
to get to. His problem was he showed you how
full of it he is. So when he goes to

(07:17):
an l s U basketball game and sounds like one
of the one of the crab Fishermen off the original
True Detective in Louisiana, you kind of scratch your head
and go, wait, what aren't you from the Northeast? What
are we doing here? Dude? That was his problem, not
that he left the program, not that he went somewhere else. Yew.

(07:39):
You know, you could say, well, you know, he he
could have waited. He could have done all these things absolutely,
and Brady Quinn has nailed that from the get go.
But when he showed up and all of a sudden
had the fake Louisiana accent and all the other things
that came along with it. There was the video of
him dancing with some recruit, which was creepy enough, like
those guys, you know, we're playing twister on on on

(08:00):
a dinner tray. It's like combined, can we get a
little bit of space here? And then the guy ends
up leaving anyways, and he goes to Alabama. Right, the
whole thing was creepy, but Brian Kelly showed you, Oh yeah,
I can be full of it. And here's the example.
I can talk and give a fake accent, and here's
the example. That's why people were burying him last night.

(08:22):
That game was fun. L s U was in that game,
got down to the wire, and once the extra point
was blocked, you would have thought the worst person on
planet Earth had just been convicted to a life sentence
in prison. Everybody was cheering against L. S U. Everybody
was cheering against Bryan Kelly. All of a sudden, everybody

(08:43):
was a Florida State fan. See that's what you get,
Brian Kelly. What do you do? Same thing he did
to Cincinnati when he went to Notre Dame. Oh it's
because he was full of it. And he told you
he was full of it. Had he just kept his
mouth shut and talked normally, he probably wouldn't have gotten
as much heat as he got. So let's take a listen.
Here is Brian Kelly. Let's hear whether or not he

(09:04):
sounds like he's from Louisiana. This was after the loss
last night in his debut as l s U head coach.
I'm not here to, you know, say we take Annie
Solace and in a loss. That's not why I'm here
at l s U to to to learn about uh
great lessons in losses. But the reality of it is, um,

(09:26):
we've got some some learning to do. Um, we've got
to coach better and we've got to play better. If
he would have sounded like that same tone, same sort
of vibe, no bs, do you think some of the
pushback on Brian Kelly would be as heavy as it
is because I don't. I really don't. Coaches leave programs
all the time. It happens all the time, like coaches

(09:50):
end up going like there's there's an old story. There
was a story from and this came out years later,
but Barry Switzer and I remember hearing this story that
Barry Switzer would go if he was going to a
recruit's house. Sometimes he would go around the side yard
before he walked in the door, and he would look
in the trash cans to see what kind of beer

(10:12):
the dad drank. So when he walked into the house
and he sat down, the dad would say, can I
get you something to drink, and'd be like, well, only
if it's an old old Milwaukee, because I don't drink
anything else. Funny you say that, I'm the same way.
Get out of here. They're all full of crap, all
of them. Brian Kelly just spilled the beans. He told

(10:35):
you how it's made. This is, this is, this is
the game. I gotta lie a little bit. And he
may have made an ass of himself, but if you're
watching that game last night, if you just looked at
the reaction and the overwhelming negativity towards anything L s U,
you would have thought they were getting blown out by
sixty points. I think of myself, this is a seven

(10:57):
point game, and it's an open inn game, so there's
gonna be some mistakes, and you got a brand new
head coach there, and they go down the field almost
the entire length of the field. They score with a
second remaining, and then they get an extra point blocked,
and then once the extra point gets blocked, what's the
immediate feedback? That's what you get for not going for

(11:18):
two Hold on a second, they had all the momentum.
If that game goes to overtime based on how L
s U was playing in Florida State was playing Who
do you give the advantage to, because I'll take L
s U. They had all the momentum. We've seen this
playout in the NFL Chiefs Bill's Division around. Kansas City

(11:39):
had all the momentum. Remember Patriots Chiefs in the a
f C Championship Game. Kansas City never got the football back,
never touched it again. Same with the Falcons Patriots Super Bowl.
That game went to overtime. Atlanta never saw the ball again.
Once New England got it to start the overtime, it
was over. They had all the momentum. L who had

(12:00):
all the momentum, and if not for a blocked extra point,
we could be talking about a crazy comeback win nuts
on the table length of the field drive to get
into overtime for Brian Kelly and his debut. Instead, what
we get is everybody bearing the guy. I'm not trying
to ball wash him, I'm not trying to be part

(12:20):
of the Brian Kelly defense league. I'm just saying this
has got less to do with the fact that he
left Notre Dame to go to L s U. And
it's got everything to do with the fact that the
guy gave a fake Louisiana accent and let everybody know
how the stuff was made. Jonas Knocks Fox Sports Radio,
Two Pros and a Cup of Joe. You can get
me on Twitter at the Jonas Knocks at the Jonas Knocks,
and we will take you all the way up until

(12:41):
nine am Eastern time, six o'clock Pacific. Coming up later on,
we are going to have some of the usuals we've
got in case you missed it, a special would you
rather an hour two? We're gonna have the scraps in
place of the b Q News with Brady and LaVar
being out, so we're gonna take you all the way
up it say, three hour extravaganza, Grab Bassi and Shenanigans
like usual here on Fox Sports Radio. All right. Coming

(13:01):
up next though, there's a situation that is taking place
in the NFL that if it goes in a positive
direction for a player, it is going to be an
absolute disaster for one head coach. We'll get into that
for you next year on FSR. Be sure to catch
live editions of Two Pros and a Cup of Joe

(13:22):
with Brady Quinn, LaVar Arrington and Jonas Knocks week days
at six am Eastern, three am Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio and the I Heart Radio. Two Pros and a
Cup of Joe Fox Sports Radio Solo Edition. No LaVar Arrington,
no Brady Quinn. Hanging out, spending time with the family.

(13:45):
So we'll hang out here. Listen, I mean there, you know,
it's not like everybody's gone and uh and I'm Albertos
here working his ass off. Lee's here, everybody's you know,
Prophecy sweating on that. That's just me because it's two
hundred degrees and outthern California. Absolutely disgusting weather out here.

(14:05):
But again, you know, we're you know, we're trying not
to complain too much about it because in about three
months from now, there's gonna be people freezing their ass
off in other parts of the country. So I feel
for you, and listen, I know what's going on. We
always have the weather channel on in the studio and
it's strictly for just knowing what's going on weatherwise. It's
got nothing else going on, no no other arterior motives

(14:26):
or anything like that. All right, So coming up in
about ten minutes from now. This was one of the
great joys, one of the great joys of the College
Football Weekend. We will have a fun conversation with that
again ten minutes from now on fs are. So this
story didn't get a lot of There wasn't really a
lot of I guess, hype around it or conversation around it.

(14:50):
But I do think it's kind of interesting because if
this goes in the direction where one team is really
trying to push it, it's gonna be a bad look
for a head coach. So the Miami Dolphins UM a
few days ago they made the announcement that tah has
been named team captain to a tako byla Ain't probably thinking,
why is that a big deal? There's a quarterback. Of

(15:12):
course he's team captain. I mean like, like what quarterback
isn't um that would be to uh, he's never been
team captain starting quarterback, but she's never named team captain.
And it's kind of weird, you know, like the whole things.
And then you start to think about just sort of
how twas being talked about by Mike McDaniel, and how

(15:36):
you've got tyree Kill who's really defending him, and he
got people and reports coming out of Miami about you know,
toa and his performance and now he's and again, ta
could go out this season and crap himself the first
month of the year and then we all realize, Okay, well,
I mean, I guess you know he's not the guy,
and and you know we're gonna do the game that

(15:58):
could be to a first game of the season. They
could be playing New England in South Florida, major case
of swamp ass because the humidity is disgusting. You've got
mosquitoes flying around the size of seven forty seven's just
sucking blood out of human beings, and you got two
out there defecating all over himself on the field. That's

(16:18):
a possibility. That is a possibility. But what if it's
not what I all of a sudden to uh turns
a corner has a really good year, name team captain,
teammates defending him publicly, coach given glowing reviews about him.
I mean, you had Mike McDaniel on with Dan Lebatar
talking about most accurate quarterback I've ever seen, Like, most

(16:40):
accurate quarterback I've been around. You never heard anything like
that from Brian Flores. Nothing. In fact, all that you
heard from Brian Flores was in his actions telling you
he's not good enough to win us a road game.
That's all, because there's no reason you bench a rookie

(17:03):
quarterback twice on the road Laton games for the veteran
backup unless you have no faith in that guy whatsoever.
And I think at the root of the issue with
Brian Flores in Miami, I don't think it was so
much the relationship with Steven Ross and hey, you know,
tank games and all the other all the other stuff

(17:24):
that that got that went on there. And some people
that want to just defend Brian Flores and say, well,
I mean, what do you mean? Of course, you know,
why would he make something like that up? Fine, man,
you can you can say that you know the owner
and whatever, whether he was joking or he meant in
a weird term like and the Brady and the bar
have talked about this. Players aren't going to go out
there and tank games. They're not. These guys are playing

(17:45):
for jobs. If it's not gonna be with Miami, it's
gonna be somewhere else. You've watched Hard Knocks, you see
how these guys are performing in preseason games. Do you
think players who are looking for a contract next year,
who are on a one year deal. Are gonna go
out there and lay down and let somebody beat him
just for the betterment of the team, knowing they're not
probably not gonna end up back with this team again
next year. It didn't make any sense. But if Tua

(18:09):
goes out and plays at a high level and plays
good football for Miami this year, doesn't that kind of
make Brian Flores look bad? Like Brian Flores had this
guy the the talent was there, the ability was there,
the personality was there, the mental was there, And all
Brian Flores did was try and hold the guy down

(18:30):
and bury him and say, well, no, we need to uh,
you know, I need more out of him here, I
need more, like everybody can try and continue to force
the conversation in the direction of well it was uh,
it was the issues that he had was Steven Ross. No,
the root of the problem is to uh, he didn't
believe in Tuah, And the organization said, we need to

(18:51):
find out whether or not he's the guy. That's what
we need to do. We need to find a he's here,
Tom Brady's not here, so out he's here. Let's try
and figure out a way to make him better and
build around him, and Brian Flores didn't want any part
of that. And he may end up being right, But
what if he's not. What if to it does go

(19:12):
out and plays well this year, has a solid year,
the Dolphins make the playoffs, compete in that division. That's
why I've said Miami's regardless of what happens this year,
the future in Miami is gonna be okay. And it's
not so much about Mike McDaniels because they're gonna know.

(19:33):
Like I'd rather know than not know, and I and
I'd rather know pretty early without any shadow of a doubt,
what's happening, all right? If I get into a relationship,
if I'm working at a job, I want to know early,
Hey is this right from me or not? And the
Miami Dolphins are gonna find out after this year because
two has gotten more excuses. Now you've got a coach,

(19:54):
it's gonna build around him. They've added pieces like Tyree Hill,
they've added to the offensive line, They've they've built around him.
They've given him a platform to have success. It's on
him to go out and perform. And I actually think
he's gonna have a good year, whether or not Miami
makes the playoffs. Who the hell knows? In the a

(20:15):
f C, I mean the a f C, there's gonna
be really good teams that don't make the playoffs. The
fourth place team in the a f C West most
likely not gonna make the playoffs and would probably win
a couple of divisions elsewhere in the league. Like that's
that's just what that conference is. Like. The Raiders could

(20:37):
finish last in the a f C West, and if
you put the Raiders in a couple other divisions in
the NFL, there the runaway winner a f C is
a nightmare. So Miami is gonna have to compete with
Buffalo obviously they're the super Bowl favorite. They're gonna have
to compete with New England, who was a playoff team
a year ago. And uh and and we get to
see year two of Mac Jones and what that looks like.

(20:58):
Who knows. Maybe the Jets and Joe Flacco go on
a run, or maybe Zach Wilson comes back and he
you know, puts aside his uh, you know, his his
milk hunting and he just decides, you know what, Hey,
I just want to go play football. I want to
focus on on on better things in my career. But
Miami's got an opportunity here. And so when you see
some of the storylines that come out of South Beach
this offseason, when you look at Hey, you know, they're

(21:20):
they're building around him, They're actually having faith in their quarterback.
They hired a guy to help him and help his progression.
They've added pieces around him. He's now named a team captain.
You've got a coach who actually defends him and sticks
up for him and speaks glowingly about him publicly. They're
doing all of it, and if it ends up working

(21:41):
kind of a bad look for Brian Flores, for all,
for all the Brian Flores defenders out there that want
to say, oh, well, you know, he did the right thing,
and he's you know, he's been put in a terrible
spot by the Dolphins organization and the NFL doesn't have
his back, and black fine, that's another conversation if we're
talking about just to h he did anything but put

(22:02):
him in a position to succeed. And two has got
a real opportunity this year. Jonas Knox, two Pros and
a cup of Joe Fox Sports Radio, get me on
Twitter at the Jonas Knox at the Jonas Knocks, and
we will take you all the way up until nine
am Eastern time, six o'clock Pacific coming up next though,
this was just a treat, a treat to be a
part of over the weekend in college football. So much

(22:22):
fun and and and it's probably gonna surprise you because
it was the least fun action that we got all
weekend long. But we'll get to that here coming up shortly.
But for all the latest from around the world of sports,
let's welcome in Nick Cope. What's happening, what's going on Jonas?
Good morning? How are we feeling you fired up for
a Labor day or what? Yes, I mean, we got
the rest of the day now here in the morning,
we got our we'll have our work done and then

(22:43):
we've got the rest of the day to hang out.
Got one more college football game tonight. It's a good
day college football. I don't know when they started doing
the five day Labor Day extravaganza, but what a home run. Man.
Well it's awesome every year and then usually uh they
fall up in week two with just a bag of crap.
But next week you're gonna get Alabama Texas. So there

(23:06):
is that on on Fox. So we're gonna get the
big Newon boys out in Austin for a for a
fun matchup there. So that'll be a good time. So
something crazy will happen to. Maybe not as good as
what we saw last night, which maybe was the game
of the weekend, I don't know, but Florida State blocking
a game tying extra point against l s U on
the last play of the game. It looked like the

(23:27):
Tigers driving the length of the field ninety nine yards.
They're about to tie the game and go to overtime,
but Florida State blocking the point after and they escape three.
That game played in New Orleans. Final game of the
opening weekend coming up tonight in Atlanta. Number four Clemson
and Georgia Tech. In the NFL, there's been a lot

(23:49):
of speculation on the health of Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford's elbow,
but on Sunday, Sean McVeigh said the team has no
concerns and they will not place any limitations on him
when the team opens their season on Thursday against the Bills.
Jonas back to you, Thanks Nick Jonas knocks here two
pros and a cup of Joe Fox Sports Radio coming

(24:09):
up in about ten minutes from now, we are going
to have somebody who's gonna be putting a very bad spot.
Somebody's gonna be putting a very bad spot here shortly
because there's no possible way that they could, uh, they
could continue on with their decision based on what has
happened in recent recent days in the world of sports. Um.
If you're wondering why I'm laughing, Um Virtos going over

(24:32):
game film on on one of the TVs here, that's
what moviem Hemingway. Great movie man, Yeah, it is best
ping pong players I ever seen in my life. I
gotta I gotta go home and watch that. We're gonna
get home. I've never seen it before. A great movie. Man.
How do you play ping pong with the Deffel bag necklaces?

(24:57):
That is Oh man, you are a You are a
class act, all right. So this was a real treat,
just a real honor to be a part of. Now,
now this is going to surprise you that this would
be the one of the highlights of the weekend. But
let me just go ahead and go behind the curtain
here at Fox Sports Radio. So we do this job

(25:18):
because we grew up as sports fans, and we weren't
gonna play sports because we weren't given that gene like
like a Brady Quinn or LaVar Arrington who can leap
over the line of scrimmage and make a tackle in
Division one college football and he's a Hall of Famer.
We weren't first round draft picks. So this is like
the next best thing. Well, if we can't play sports,

(25:39):
let's cover it. Let's have a good time covering it.
But ultimately some of us here continue to hold on
to that fan aspect of things. Now they're there are
more realistic people, um who don't, who don't play the
game of ball, washing their organization and their favorite team
at every turn. Uh. Of what they'll do is they'll

(26:01):
rip into you know, for example, the manager over a
pitching change or a decision to start a certain player
in the outfield. Yes, I'm talking about Roberto and Dave Roberts.
Roberto and Dave Roberts is a matchup that is going
to happen at some point in a parking lot or
or you know, and as standing in line for an uber,
That's just how that's gonna go down. And I'm just
letting everybody know right off the bat. Uh, you know,

(26:23):
my money's on Berto. But point being, when you work
with somebody and you know that they're really agonizing what
is happening when there's a game on, it's really a
lot of fun, all right. I've been here during Dodger
playoff games when they've had meltdowns. I'll never forget Clayton
Kershaw gave up a home run to the Nationals a

(26:45):
few years ago and Ryan Burr Shinger. I watched his
hair turn gray during that game. I literally I watched
the guy. I watched him look like Mel Gibs. It
in Forever. Young literally went from late twenties, early thirties
to seventy two in a matter of two innings. I've

(27:06):
and it was unbelievable to see the air leaves body.
So on Saturday, I'm working here at Fox Sports Radio
and obviously everybody's you know, really fired up. It's the
beginning of college football. You've got games going on. The
early games are starting to wind down, and I noticed, Hey,
I was playing South Dakota State and I'm working with

(27:27):
Iowa Sam and I'm thinking, man, it would be really
awesome if South Dakota State beat Iowa Sam's Iowa Hawkeyes
and IA say it was it was one of our
our favorite um you know, personalities here at FSR technical producer.
But nobody ball washes that program like he does, hence
the name Iowa Sam And so everybody routinely roots against Iowa,

(27:50):
not really wanting them to lose. I was a great program.
Kirk Ference has done amazing things. He's been there since
like oh four or something like that. A crazy run
at Iowa. But when you have a friend or a
coworker who loves a team so much, the sick twisted
rat bastard inside all of us your root against that

(28:11):
guy's favorite team all the time. And you do this
to buddies. If you're listening to this right now, you've
got a buddy right now whose favorite team loss this weekend,
and I guarantee you you gave him a shift in
the ribs via text message when it happened, and when
he loses in Week one of the NFL season, if
it's a team that's favored to win and they get
shocked week one of the season, you're gonna call your

(28:32):
buddy or text your buddy who's a fan of that team,
and you're gonna give him that shift in his side.
We all do it, everybody does it. So I'm thinking, man,
if i were were to lose this game, this would
be something, but not really thinking it was gonna actually happen,
and something better happened. Iowa and South Dakota State proceeded
to put on one of the worst offensive performances that

(28:55):
anybody has ever seen. It was astonishing how bad they were.
What's astonishing. Iowa wins seven three courtesy of two safeties.
They two safeties, Like, look at the numbers off this

(29:16):
awful game between Iowa and South Dakota State. Between both teams,
there were two hundred and eighty six yards of total offense. Now,
I get it, Week one, Jitters, not a preseason you
know kind of you know, really trying to find your groove.
Two hundred eighties six yards of total offense between both teams.

(29:38):
Just to give you an example of how bad that is,
there were two wide receivers this weekend, Ricky White of
u n l V and Keelan Stokes of Tulsa, who
had more receiving yards than either Iowa or South Dakota
State had total yards two receivers had more receiving yards

(30:01):
through one game than either Iowa or South Dakota State
had between between either of them in total offense. They
were terrible, and I remember just sitting back and watching
it during breaks, going this is amazing because it's it's
the worst game of the weekend. It's the most unentertaining,

(30:24):
poorly played offensive game of the weekend. But it just
goes to show you that guys as sports fans even
all include women, because I I have I've known women
who if they knew I liked a team or a
boxer or had a favorite athlete in some regard, they'd
be the first one to let me know when that
person lost. They'd be the first one to let me

(30:44):
know when that team lost. This is the problem with
us as sports fans. We are sick in the head.
We are ruthless savages when it comes to somebody playing poorly.
And when I'm watching South Dakota State and Iowa bar
fall over themselves for three plus hours in Iowa City
in Week one, all I keep thinking of myself is

(31:06):
I am so glad I know somebody who's an Iowa fan,
and I'm so glad he's on this show at the
time because it was a tremendous, tremendous opening weekend for
everybody involved. Jonas Knocks Fox Sports Radio, get me on

gonna be called a liar. We'll get into that for
you next year. On fs ARE. Be sure to catch

Fox Sports Radio Jonas knocks with you here on FS

(32:31):
are you can listen to. This show is always on
the I Heart Radio app coming up top the next
hour a little over ten minutes from now. Somebody in
the NFL can't help themselves. They just can't. They have
an issue. They can't help themselves. We will get into
the details on that for you here on Fox Sports Radio.
But right now it's time for something we do every
single morning at this time, and it's called this. Sometimes

(32:55):
you can't get to everything in the world of sports
or entertainment, good thing. The guys are here to bring you.
You missed it and for that we turn it over
to our executive producer, the great Lead. Do Do Do
Do Do Lap. That's right, you guys, And in case
you missed it. I know you didn't, Jonas because it
was against your cubbies. But Albert Poolholz hit his sime run.

(33:17):
Now if you remember him saying that he's going to
retire no matter what. Now, do you think he's gonna
retire If he's just shy of seven? How could you
walk away now? Like he's he's one of the hotter
hitters in baseball over the past what like month or so,
and he's getting closer and closer. So he's five away
from seven hundred. It's gonna be tough for him to
get it this year. But if he ends up with

(33:38):
like six or god forbid six, do you really think
he's gonna walk away this year and just say that's it.
He's gonna get it before. Then you think he's gonna
get it before. Yeah, he's got, but he's got so
he's got five to go. If he let's just like
just hypothetically he's at six, or kiss my ass, he

(34:03):
doesn't come back for next year like you like, if
you're the Cardinals, just the revenue you could bring in
for people wanting to see the seven hundred home run.
It's allah Mark McGuire trying to break the home run
record back in the day, the money you could bring
in attendance wise, everything that you could build around him
doing it, Like if you're if you're a visiting team,

(34:25):
all of a sudden, people actually want to go to
a Red's game because the Cardinals are in town and
you can actually see Albert Pools at his seven hundred
home run. If he's stuck at sixty or six, I
would be shocked if he doesn't come back for another year.
And plus the d H is around d d H
is gonna be a next year as well too, right,
Oh yeah, yeah, So listen, like find a spot form,

(34:50):
give him enough at bats and then give him to
seven hundred and then he goes on his way. But
he's sitting and he's been read hot lately, so and
that you don't have any proof that those are my cubs,
So why don't we I wanted to calm down there? Please?
What else we got late? All? Right? In case you
missed this, Cam Newton is in court with his ex
Kia Proctor, mother of his four children, taking him to
court for over twenty dollars and utility bills. Well, I

(35:14):
get based on how much we're running the a C
at my house. It's probably gonna be a dollar utility bill.
I have to tell my wife. I'm like, you know,
it's not free to run this, right, like you get that,
Like it's not like we're like this like a lot
and it's on all the time because our A C sucks,
so we have to continue to pump through it. So

(35:35):
he's got twenty thousand dollars? Now is this? Uh? So
they're getting separated because Cam had some extracurriculars, if you
know what I mean? Is that is that kind of
the story? Also that that's part of the reason why
they're in the spot that they're in, according to some
according to someone, So twenty thousand dollars, Now, what is

(35:57):
the how does it break down? This is from from
So in the last two years, it's been over five
thousand and cable expenses, six over six thousand and internet expenses,
over close to five in power chargers and another gas
as well as two thousand dollars she's asking for for
taking him to court in first place. I mean what what?

(36:19):
And and by the way, he still doesn't have a job.
He's still looking around the NFL going can I get it?
Can I get an opportunity here. Well, let's look if
you're gonna uh you know, if they've got to get
this stuff sorted out. The fact that we were able
to find out in detail how much she's asking for
and had the breakdown on these bills, like, I feel
like a little bit of a scumback for even knowing

(36:41):
these details. So I'm glad that Lee made sure to
put this in in case you missed it here just
just just so everybody was on the same page here
with knowing the intimate details of cam Newton's situation with
his better half. So it's a bummer what else we got.
By the way, my power is included in my h oay,
so I just run that a c all day long. Yeah,
but they're probably killing you on the h o A

(37:01):
fees though, that's true. Yeah, well that's exactly exactly why
I feel obliged to do it. Yeah you should. Well,
it's like when you go to uh like go to
a hotel, Like it's like you want to make sure
you turn the lights off before you leave. What, let's
run this up. What do you mean I do everything
you can't do at home? Why not? From my eurotrip,

(37:21):
I I noticed everywhere I went, you have to close
the windows for the a C to work. I don't
know if that's work. It was the same thing we
were in Hawaii. It was the same thing to where
I thought, Man, you know, it's really hot out. It's
humid as all hell. Like, if I could get some
of the breeze from the ocean and then still get
some of the uh you know, some of the a
C going, it would be the perfect temperature. And that

(37:43):
way we could hear the ocean. You just hear the
sights and sounds. Second you open up the door, a
see what right off the hell is that? Give me
some flexibility here, like, that's that's all I'm asking for
a little flexibility so I enjoy my my trip and
have a good time. So, by the way, in Europe,
do they is that thing true where if you bring
a cord to plug in, it's got to be the

(38:06):
right setting in there, and so it'll blow your equipment
if you don't have the right stuff to plug in, right, yeah,
you gotta You can't plug anything if you don't have
the right stuff. Why do they do that? It doesn't
make why it doesn't make sense because the metric system

(38:26):
screw you. And the metric system. Come on, man, like,
get your wall sockets together. You want people to start
traveling again, Get your wall sockets together. Whatever. In case
you miss it, Old Dominion upset Virginia Tech, and as
the fans were storming the field, Virginia techs tight end
his name, Connor blum Rick, was caught on video sucker
punching one of the fans. Since issued an apology saying

(38:49):
it's not reflective of his character. First of all, did
he actually punch him? Because I thought he just gave
him a shoulder. I mean, we want to think that
he's apologized for it. I mean, at least is that
he initiated contact on purpose. Okay, but if the fans
run onto the field and you're trying to get off
the field, it's like it's like the running of the bulls.
I'm sorry if I'm in the running of the bulls

(39:10):
and I end up with, you know, with with a
horn going through my torso that's on me. Like I
just I don't know what to tell you. This guy
runs on the field, he's probably drunk. This guy is
trying to get off the field, and he caught a
shot like I mean, and It was one of those
good glancing shots where it spun the guy. Also, he
went down hard though, because you remember Legarrett Blunt who

(39:31):
punched that guy? Was it was? It was he a
Boise State fan? Is that who was? It was Oregon
Boise State. That's a that's a whole another situation. This
guy sort of leaned into him. I think everybody knew
what he was trying to do. I don't think you
should have to apologize, all right, you just lost a game.
You guys didn't play all that well. Uh you know,
I if I were this guy, wouldn't apologize. All right,
you don't run on the field. By the way, if

(39:53):
you are the Running of the Bulls and you're listening
on the I Heart Radio app, this might be your
last show, so we appreciate you hanging out with us here.
