Speaker 1 (00:01):
It is the best of two pros and a couple
of Joe with LaVar areas Rady Quinn and Joe Miss
knocks on radio. How are you feeling here? I don't
know if you guys know what the day, the week
it is on the calendar in your respected locations, you know.
I mean, I feel like we had at one hell
(00:22):
of a game last night, so I'm feeling like we
got to talk a little football at some point that
you know. That's a great point. And since you brought
it up, it's a football Friday Friday, Yeah, all right,
football football screen the screen. It's a football Friday here
(00:50):
on two pros and a cup of Joe And uh,
this is really embarrassing. And I hate to ask this
on the air, but can I borrow one of your
guys is Amazon Platinum member ships. I'd like to rewatch
the game because there's a lot of people that probably
did not get to partake in last night's game because
of what happened. Even if they did log in. There's
a lot of people complaining about the the issues with
(01:12):
with with viewing and then the pixilated screens or the
screens freezing um, which I mean they're still trying to
iron out those kings. I think anyone who's who's used
streaming in the past as as noticed that are seen
that you really got to have a strong, strong WiFi
in your home or cellular connection wherever you're at, if
you're using a tablet or phone. If you don't, not
(01:35):
a good experience. Yeah, it's too bad. I have no
idea why the Healthy game was aired locally, but it
was on our local Fox station here in southern California,
and so hearing Al Michael's and Kirk curb Street on
Fox that was kind of weird. But I I thought
I was under the impression that it was streaming only
that's where you needed to watch the game, and then
(01:55):
lo and behold there it was sitting on the local
Fox affilion here in southern California. So it it was
nice to get to watch it on actual televisions. I
didn't actually experience into the streaming issues, but yeah, I
did see a lot of people complain about it not
a not a great opening night for Thursday night football
for Amazon Platinum or whatever it's called. The crazy thing
about it is it it was a super super competitive
(02:18):
experience and and it was a competitive game. I mean
the Chargers are for real. I mean they lost, They're
for real. Like the West is the West. It's it's
gonna be it's gonna be interesting. So I feel like
it's kind of you know, talking about how technology and advances,
you know, change things and ultimately you know, there has
(02:42):
to be the adjustment because that's where it's going. I mean,
at some point we're probably gonna be able to watch
games in the metaverse, different things like that. Like it's
just gonna get real crazy as to how the viewing
experience continues to evolve, and there's going to be growing ains.
I mean, that was kind of what my conclusion was.
It's so funny because my largest takeaway was tank like,
(03:06):
I can't find it, like and and you know, I'm
not the most technologically sound dude anyway, but just it
was it couldn't find it. So it was like, you know,
if I didn't have kids running around my crib, that
that understand how all of this stuff works. And and
you know I need I say, a wife that uses
(03:27):
Amazon Prime as much as as she does, Um, I
would have been I would have been asked out, you know.
So you say that that there's a lot of Amazon
boxes to show up to the house, you know, all
day and Amazon Prime they go all day there there
is no window of delivery time that thing gets ordered,
that box is gonna get there. You know, it's all
(03:48):
day long. So I honestly think that's the toughest part
of being a dad or a husband in a household
that used a lot of Prime. You're just cutting up
boxes like all day. The last thing you want is
to see a stack of boxes that you know no
one else is gonna do it, all right, You're the
one that's gonna have to. Once they take out whatever
the hell's in those boxes, You've got to cut those
(04:10):
things up, fold them down, put them in the recycling
like that's your job. And it absolutely stinks. I tell
my wife every time, I'm like, I just wanted one
package to be for me, like at least so while
I'm doing this work, Like while I'm sitting here cutting
these things up, folding them down, so we don't have
a thousand cardboard boxes sitting outside our home and all
of a sudden, the homeless encampment comes and just moves
(04:33):
right in on all the cardboard boxes. I all I
want is just to have one package for me, that's
all I want. It seems like they don't have a
lot of options on the size of packaging either. It's
it's one box and they'll throw the smallest item in it,
and you're just thinking it feels like a waste, like
you couldn't throw this in like a little bit of
a baggy and and chip it out. But they they
go through a lot of a lot of probably cheaper
(04:54):
to have that one size box and bulk than it
is to have a smaller boxes as well. I put
it in perspective for you guys, we had to order
a dumpster boxes in our garage on everything. You ordered
a dumpster for your Amazon boxes? What do you that's
(05:15):
that's I mean, that's increasing your carbon footprint. I'm just
I'm just, I'm just, I mean, I don't want to
increase my carbon footprint. Que but you know, I'm just here.
It is funny though, like a younger generation who seems
to be more in touch with that, they don't realize
a lot of the stuff they're doing is playing into it.
(05:39):
Hold on, you order a dumpster when you're like cleaning
out a large portion of the house, you're doing construction
for bottling the the the boxes took up so much
room you needed a dumpster to get them out. That's problem.
That's problematic, all boxes of boxes, you know. I mean
you could have helped a lot of people out. Just
(06:00):
go drop him off in Venice and some people would
have made good use of him there like that mansion rooms,
stairwells hanging out right on the Santa Monica pere like
a nice little like two bedroom palace with some Amazon
logos on the side. Where did those come from? Mr
Arrington dropped him off the way? Speaking of Amazon, you
(06:22):
guts see Jeff Bezos at the game, Yeah, wherety Park
is his crankshop shuttle surprised they did land it run
in the fifty yard line like act like hey, we
we conquered this. This is now ours. Um. Justin Herbert
took a beating in that game last night. Towards what's
your guests on on the injury? If you had to
(06:43):
guess ribs, I mean towards for lunch, Um No, I
would say, I don't know about broken. If they're broken,
to be really hard for him to play through it,
and he might be out the next, you know, couple
of weeks. A few weeks, I would say bruised. Um,
there might be some sort of issue. Two, it is
not to get too technical to his intercostals. Um, you
(07:05):
know I had issues with that before. Look, he took
a beating. He's as good as advertised. He's as good
as whatever huge contract he's gonna sign. I mean, it's
just the way some of the throws he makes are
just absolutely incredible. Um, the one down the field at
the end to set up the final score, I mean,
my god, I think Herbie said it best. You know,
(07:27):
he couldn't have handed that football off better, like it
literally couldn't have been in any better of a spot.
And the pick six is tough because I believe it
was Gerald Everett who was when he was trying to
get out of the game. And I don't know if
he was just gas, I don't know if he got hit.
It was a little bit, you know, kind of fuzzy
because it seemed like then that next play he really
(07:50):
was I didn't know what he's doing, and it obviously
led to a huge play in the game. And it
pick six, And you know, I don't know if you
put that on maybe that are just trying to do
it too fast when it wasn't necessary at that moment um.
You know, maybe he ever should just went down, you know,
because it seemed like again after the ball was I
(08:10):
guess it was targeted towards him. You know, he didn't
even try to chase it back down. I mean, he
looked like he was trying to like crab his mouth
card off the field, like like he'd been banged up,
but he was seeing stars or something and trying to
like come to where he was. It was. That was
one of the more bizarre place and sequences. But give
all credit to the Chargers, man, they were for real.
I mean obviously Andy read the Chiefs. You know, they
(08:32):
made the adjustments they needed to after early on Patrick
Mahomes was taken a beating, but they just they find
a way, man. I mean that that a touchdown pass
he through to um Jared McKinnon. I mean the way
the way Patrick Mahomes articulates his arms to find windows.
It really is. I mean, LaVar, you have to look
at it as a defender and just be like, shoot,
(08:53):
like we're not stopping this, not in that word. You know,
that's trick. Mahomes is one of them. Frustrating dudes, because
he's more athletic than you would give him credit for
his vision. He's like Jason Kidd, you know, or you know,
y'all remember white chocolate, right, He's like Jason Williams type
(09:15):
type dude. I mean, he he just he can deliver
the ball from all kinds of different angles, from anywhere.
He can. He can be as like, you know, elusive
as he needs to be to to make that happen.
I mean generally, once you you know, as a defender
to how people understand it, generally speaking, when you're able
(09:38):
to force the quarterback out of the pocket, out of
that comfort zone, so to speak, and you're flashing on
him or touching on him, you know, touching on the
shoulders or hitting the legs or anything like that, he
can hear you breathing on him. Quarterbacks generally can't handle that.
(09:59):
It's it's just there's too much too much information to
to kind of, you know, try to put together to
handle the running part, the seeing the field part, seeing
the other defenders downfield. You it usually ends in an
incomplete Uh throw throw the ball away, Uh, get get sacked,
(10:21):
get tackled. It usually ends in the favor of the offense,
and Patrick Mahomes continues to show that he has an
ability to still calculate and come up and diagnose what
the defense is doing and what his offense is doing
on the move. I mean, it's pretty I don't know
(10:42):
if people realize. I mean, I guess maybe they do,
but I don't. I just you know, I had to
take a step back and and and just really like
realize how how special that is to be, you know,
for him to be able to do the things that
he does on the move. It's pretty interesting. So, man,
the one that touchdown passed me through to Watson. I mean,
(11:03):
both Herbert's throw, especially considering he's dealing with the rib
injury at that at that time, was special. But then
when you saw Mahomes earlier kind of do it when
he slit up in the pocket and did it on
the run, feet aren't set drops a diamond to Watson.
I'm like both these guys, I mean, NFL fans are
so lucky right now that you've got talents like a Mahomes,
(11:23):
like a Herbert, like a Josh Allen. I mean, hell,
the a f C. But like this is like murderers
row I mean, and it's almost. I mean obviously a
different style of play. I mean, these guys are are
more athletic and um that they do it a different
way than Peyton and Tom Brady did it and Ben
Roethlisberger maybe kind of closer to Ben early in his career.
But that's what you've got. I mean, you've got three
(11:45):
guys who are gonna be biting for the a f
C for the foreseeable future. And that is such a fun,
cool place to be for the NFL and NFL fan
And once again it's it's one of the reasons why
I would stand and say, look, I mean Patrick Maho
was already signed a deal that was astronomical, Like he's
probably the guy who will restructure his and surpassed. But
(12:05):
Watson got um. But again, it will see how much
you know, cash flow the Hunt family has, or maybe
they'll maybe Jeff Bezo is gonna buy the team. Yeah,
you know, hanging in town last night. Um. But the
point is this, whatever those guys are going to make,
they're worth every penny because they make not only the
game incredible to watch, but they give those teams a
(12:29):
legitimate shot of winning a Super Bowl. And if you're
not a fan of the Chiefs or Chargers and you
can't stand either team. Get used to seeing these guys
facing off in prime time at least once a year,
every single year. I would the NFL they should make
that Clinton sand Division Yeah twice. Yeah, but I'm saying
on prime time this should this should be featured at
least once every single year these guys because this was Yeah,
(12:52):
this is gonna happen. Yeah, not on a streaming service,
on that on Amazon Premium or whatever it's called. Like,
these guys are going to be playing for the network
next ten years, ten years, are gonna be facing off.
It's gonna be awesome to see a playoff. Can this question, though,
Can I ask this question? Is it sensible to think
that maybe the idea of streaming is like there's a
(13:14):
lot of people that may be in different places, especially
on the West coast, you know, or it's Pacific time,
they may be in different places where Now it's actually
more like say, say, for instance, you're that that dead
that sits in the parking lot while you know practice,
(13:35):
the other person is, you know, they may be practicing.
You may be at the grocery store, you may you know,
be somewhere even though Amazon Prime provides you the opportunity
to stay at home and do those things from the
comfort or you're cont you may be out. You know,
is this like to me, like the idea of it
is is most people have their heads down looking at
(13:57):
their devices. I mean, it's gotta be sensible to think
that this offering the way that they did it in theory,
should have hit a large demographic of people that may
have otherwise not even been in position to be able
to watch the game, you know, from their home on
the thirty and under demographic. I mean that that's what
(14:18):
you're going for you you're trying to build into, at
least with the NFL to it as as they look
out in the future that there's two things they're they're
going to target a younger demographic, which is, you know,
obviously a lot of young people and LeVar you said
this yesterday, tablets, phones, things, that that's how they're that's
how they're consuming. Like it's very different. It's hard for
(14:39):
us who are older to understand what we love, like
our big screens, the surround sound film like you're there,
but you're not in some big comfy chair like or
sitting on your couch and chilling with your FAMI or
your boys. Like that's how we grew up. That's not
how they grow up. You know, they grow up on
a digital you know, in a digital world where they're
like having group chats and like snapchat or whatever the hell.
(15:01):
You know, they're on TikTok or something, and then they're
watching you know, they're streaming something else, you know, multitasking
on their phone, on their iPads, all this stuff and
in some cool place. You know. It's just it's just
a different way of consuming. And I think they're trying
to go after that younger demographic to make sure, uh
they are all factoring into this as well, or if
these habits continue to be the case in the future,
(15:23):
which I always tend to say, like once you start
settling down having kids, everyone goes to the same life.
Like everyone goes through the same life of like you're
gonna be on the couch at one point, feeding a baby,
taking care of the baby, like like watching a game
where if you're watching it, you're not gonna be watching
an iPad like I'm sorry, or your phone. Like it's
just it's it's hard to do that. Sometimes. The other
(15:45):
thing is I think with streaming, you have more control
over who is consuming it. That's one of the biggest
things that people don't seem to understand is everything you
do on your phone and with Amazon. Like my Mifa
sitting me talk to me before she took me the
airport yesterday. She goes, you know they have Amazon Meds. Now,
what do you mean? She's like, they deliver your meds
(16:06):
for you. I go, so they can deliver your clothes,
your food, your meds, everything, and I go. But you
know what's funny about that? I said, Here's what this is.
They know everything about you. They know you're purchasing habits,
they know what you buy, they know what you eat.
Now they know what kind of medication you take to
for whatever medical issues you're dealing with. You don't have
to give them over your medical information. They've already got
(16:28):
it because they're tracking every little thing you do with
every purchase you make. That's where streaming comes in because
Amazon knows exactly who their consumer is. They know who's
tuning in, they know what that person is all about,
they know their demographics, they know how they can better
advertise to them. This is all information that when we
click on these apps, and we order or we sign
(16:49):
up for stuff we're agreeing to because no one reads
the agreements. So that's the other power of streaming is
the fact that Jeff Bezos knows you as well as
he knows his crankshuttle, you know, and so he's got
his crank shuttle, he's got you, and now he's got
football in the NFL on Thursday nights. The guy knows everything. Man,
don't don't trust a man with a crank shuttle because
they'll show up in you. And you actually should trust
(17:12):
a guy with a crank Tell me this much. Did
anyone look more comfortable then Jeff Bezos sitting next to
Roger Goodell? Yeah, Like he just looks so comfortable. So well,
I mean it was almost like Bezos kind of lean
never looked at him like a bro. I could just
buy your home. I'm the richest man in the world.
I could just buy your home. Like, hey, what do
(17:33):
you get paid to you? Was it fifty million a roge?
Go get me a lemonade. When you get go give
me a limit, like snap my finger. I just just
a little vodka. Little vodka is two pros and a
cup of Joe. I was gonna say, like, did you
(17:54):
see who Jeff Bezos was sitting next to? H Okay, okay,
who is who I'm just saying to you know, Oh yeah,
the former reporter. I think that's who is right? Yeah, Well,
I was just say you know who she used to date.
Who was there last night? Yeah, Tony g Tony Gonzalez. Yeah,
I think they have a kid together, don't they think?
(18:15):
You have to say? Yeah, It would be interesting to
see how that dynamic went out this one. This one,
there's been some stories about her that have fluttered around.
Run into some of these people store here. Yeah, a
lot a lot of a lot of people know her.
According to a certain people. Anything on this we're having difficulties?
(18:42):
Did pass gets you? Man? Be sure to catch live
editions of Two Pros and a Cup of Joe with
Brady Quinn, LaVar Arrington and Jonas Knocks week days at
six am Eastern three am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
and the I Heart Radio app. So, congratulations for those
who had the Chargers plus the four you get a win.
(19:04):
But the story coming out of that game is the
health of Justin Herbert obviously took a couple of big
hits in the fourth quarter at one point, UM, it
probably looked like he could have picked up a first
down if he had run for it, but just ended
up throwing the ball into the ground because his left
side was really banged up. And then right afterwards through
that laser that Dan Marino asked laser Uh to pick
(19:25):
up a big first down on a fourth down on
their final drive of the game. But his head coach,
Brandon Staley talked about his quarterback and his performance following
last night's loss. It was a tough game, and you're
not going to see a quarterback in any level of
football play tougher and do more for their team and
will their team, um to give him a chance than him.
(19:48):
There's nobody that can do what he can do. Nobody. Um.
He showed a lot of guts. He showed us what
he shows every day, UM that we're never out of
the fight, and he brought us back and gave us
a chance. It was just a tough NFL game. He
took some big hits and none of those big hits
had any impact on him bringing his team back like
he always does. So that was Brandon's dalely talking about
(20:09):
Justin Herbert, He's gonna have a week and a half
before obviously the or a little under a week and
a half before the Chargers play again, so they're hoping
that he'll be ready to go. We have no official
word on the injury. But how difficult is it to
throw a football if your ribs are that compromised like
his were last night. It's awful, man, I mean it's
it's awful. Like I told you, I did get I
(20:30):
did get shot up with no vacaine when I heard mine. Um,
just so you couldn't feel it for that you know,
four hour time span, um, because it affects your twisting,
your torque, your power, all that stuff. And by the way,
you're still gonna get hit and you're gonna land on
it from time to time. So it's just it's it's
one of it's one of those injuries that you can't
see it. It's you know, but it's something that impacts
(20:53):
your job in a big, big way. So it stinks, man.
I mean I remember, like it was just hard to
sleep because if you're sleep like I, I can never
sleep on my back. You obviously can't sleep on your stomach.
You try to sleep on the side of the ribs
are hurting like that ain't gonna work, and you just
try to sleep. On the other side, it's just it's
it's a very very um nagging injury that stinks. It
(21:14):
really does. I feel for him, you know. That makes
me think of kind of on topic but off topic,
like how horrible is it to have someone else in
your bid when you're an active football player. I mean,
the the amount of touch points of pain when you're
(21:36):
an active player, bro, like every other minute, like like
two am, three am, four a m. Please please, you know,
like listen there, the amount of like it's almost like
if someone loves you or somebody's like keeping your company,
(21:59):
it's almost like they can find the very pinpointed areas
of horrible pain and cause you the most discomfort. And
and not to mention yourself as as you just mentioned,
you you roll over the wrong way, you know, like
like you you you touch your arm or you know,
(22:21):
you you move your toe where the blanket, Like something
as simple as just adjusting yourself in your blanket can
send tremendous pain waves through your body. Man. Uh, just
sitting there thinking about that about trying to sleep with
bad ribs, like try to sleep being a football player,
it is painful at times. What was the worst injury
(22:43):
to sleep through for me? It was my achilles tenant
when I like that brought me to tears, like it
hurts so bad, that tears, Like I wasn't crying as
it like like it was like it was so much pain.
It had tears coming out of my ass. That was pain.
That that was some CERI is scruciating pain, you know
(23:09):
after the days of weeks after after that surgery. Yeah,
I mean the ribs were the ones that just stunk
because like you're still like functioning and playing, but you're
like you're getting shot up. You're taking like a drug
cocktail just to feel better to get through because I
I had UM, I had a shoulder issue that was
dealing with that, Like I was just I needed something
to give a relief to that was nagging. I mean,
(23:32):
like ever since I've had back surgery, like I've had
to sleep a certain way. Like that just changed the
way I sleep for the rest of my life. So, um,
that one probably stunk the worst. But to LaVar's point,
like lower extremity injuries stink, Like I remember when they
were putting like the screws and like little plate things
in my foot and my left foot. Like after that surgery,
(23:53):
I was like, oh God, this thing throbs. And it's
because your body has got a foreign object inside of
it and it's trying to figure out what it wants
to do. So I don't know. It's tough, Like I
would say, the back one, though, has changed how I
will asleep, Like I am now a side sleeper. I
can't sleep my back, stomach nothing the rest of my life.
(24:13):
Is that ever going to be your back? Or is
this you? I did a fusion. I mean that I
had a smaller procedure just so I could try to
come back and play sooner because it was less invasive
and you know, less turn around time on rehab. But
eventually a fusion, the fusion limit your mobility. Correct, They
just rocking out? Yeah? Two doesn't it? It does? It
(24:35):
shrinks you too, decompresses your spine. So it compresses your spine.
Excuse me? Yeah, but thank god you're jacked though. I
mean that's the hard part. It's like, that's that's even
gonna change the way you go about working out too. Now,
Now what I heard yesterday where he was getting it
in yesterday, I mean just like I could hear the
(24:57):
clanging and banging in the background to bang. Oh yeah,
jus is a big clang in a banging guy trying
to get it in. Look, he's like Brady is like
one of those guys to where you know, like people
will put the chain around their waist when they want
to do pull ups, like Brady will put the chain
around his waist, and instead of going like one plate,
he goes three forty five plates and just to be
(25:17):
a smart ass, puts a two and a half on
there as well to just let everybody know, listen, anyway
you want this, I can make it happen, and then
just rips out like twelve three sets of twelve drops down.
How's that sound good? Nice little warm up, and then
gets out to the big neon. What was how how
(25:38):
are you aware of this? Did I leave your voice
that or something? Yeah? Yeah, it might have left me
a little voice note. Just just let me let me
know that what he was doing while I was not
doing it, which is always nice because he knows that.
That's that's I've even strut the time zones right, but
I think's got the Pacific one right. Well, you know,
based on how that show was put together. You probably did, uh,
(25:59):
you know, but you know that's the magic of radio.
By the way, we do have some results from last
night's game. Some of the over unders lead to laugh,
has got has got some results from last night? You
want to play some some imaging here we get a
real fancy here on a Friday, A little fancy friday.
Here for some over unders on a football friday. As
we take a look back and how we performed, time
(26:19):
to put your money where your mouth is. You know
it's over under all right least, so since it's fresh
in everybody's mind, how do we perform last night? You
want to go one by one here? What are we
looking at? Yeah, we'll go down the We'll go down
to each one. Here. We started with total points at
fifty four, where LaVar was the only one to hit
(26:39):
the under on that one. Um we had so hold on.
LaVar gets credit and and he's celebrated because he was negative.
Brady and I were rooting for offense. LaVar takes a
negative approach, and now we're gonna celebrate sensible approach. You know,
you guys wanted offense, your offensive guys like I did defense.
You know, we tended the air on the side of
just you know, sensibility. We were going to play defense.
(27:02):
You were going to get defense on both sides. Too
good defensive defense, defense. We have defense. We need defense.
We've got Okay, go ahead, Sorry that carried away. But
else well, Jonas, you and LaVar both got uh it
correct that the longest touchdown was over thirty eight and
a half from both Watson. There was from Watson Jalen Watson,
(27:27):
as well as a forty one yarder from from Justin Watson.
By the way, I think I saw it was made
the rounds on social media that Jalen Watson worked at
a Wendy's a few years ago. I was pursuing his
football dream. We worked at a Wendy's. So how about
a Brady starved Wendy's commercials. There was Jalen Watson on
Thursday Night Football. I actually think you actually saved his
(27:47):
career based on how successful Wendy's is uh and and
his performance at Wendy's leading him to Thursday Night Football.
I have zero to do with any of that, but
still a cool story. And what a night? What an
if your last name is Watson? Ruh? What m VP
probably was somewhere laying down watching the game on Amazon.
(28:11):
A great night. By the way, you think the shot
at at a TV installed on the floor when he's
laying on the massage table, that the flora and ceiling
that is that is that is true. He probably spent
more time on his back on the stuff. You only
(28:31):
need a tablet. And it's a good point. Brady, you
were right then Patrick Mahomes would hit the under on
passing and rushing yards. We had at three sixteen and
a half you negative had net negative rushing yard actually,
so yeah to thirty four um on that one. And
then Brady and Lavarre, you guys both were right that
Austin Ekeler would hit the under at ninety five and
(28:53):
a half rushing and receiving yards. He only got ninety four.
Are you serious at thirty nine receiving? Okay, pretty good?
Can we Uh? There could be a stack correction on this.
I'm not willing to say that I'll accept the loss
on that one. There could be a you can't find
two extra yards could go to the opposite direction, though,
(29:15):
Jos God, they were that. That's how good these guys
are to set these lines. And that's how good we
are at that calling them game. But last night it
was a three point spread. It open at three, end
up going to four, and then the over under end
up getting that down to what it closed at two
and a half or something like that. Yeah, I don't
think it stayed at four. I think I did that
(29:35):
down most books. Um God, they got it right there.
Um what else? Lastly, you guys all thought it would
hit the over on Joey Bosa and Cli Mac with
over one of those not even close. Kali Mac got
a half a sex. So for the end of the week,
you guys, LaVar takes the lead three to Brady. You
got to Jonas, you got one. Good job, Jonas, kiss
(29:58):
my Aslee about that. Good job jon Us on the
year so far. Yeah, well, this is the exhibition, so
you know, once we get to the regular season coming
up here next week, I think we're really gonna I'm
gonna start hit my stride, all right, So we got
a couple of exhibition games out of the way, really
gonna hit my stride coming up. And it don't blame me,
blame not as the streaming in Amazon. I was just
(30:19):
gonna ask, lead, did did your Roberto you guys watch
have any issues with a streaming I actually know Okay, yeah,
I didn't notice any high speed internet, so yeah, I
just want to know why was it on locally in
southern because of because of their local team. Yeah, I
think it was on locally in Kansas City as well.
(30:39):
That's how they're doing it. Yeah, I think that's how
the local affiliates work for broadcasts at least. I UM.
Here's the thing. There was enough people who commented about
this that I was curious to hear your guys thoughts
because I wasn't watching with a sound the entire time.
It did seem like, for some reason, like the sound
was a bit off, like it didn't sound like a
(31:00):
normal broadcast in that regard that that's true. Actually, yeah,
we were talking about that too. The mix was weird, yeah,
which I think is a fixable thing. I don't think
that's that difficult to do. But I also know nothing
about it. I just like I'm on TV and I
hear them talk about it sometimes, so I feel like
that is a fixable thing. We turned off the surround
while we were watching. Charissa Thompson seemed like there was
(31:21):
some confusion during the halftime show. To where they didn't
really know when they were supposed to go and when
they were supposed to transition to a certain topic, and
she seemed like she was a little bit frustrating. She's
one of the best there is as far as directing
a studio show and kind of piecing it all together,
and you could tell that there was some confusion with that.
So I don't know if there were sound issues, um
(31:41):
for for everybody on the broadcast, but I thought Kirk
Curve Street got better as the game went on. Al
Michael's is always solid. I'm happy for herb Street that
he's getting this opportunity, man, because I think he's been
underrated for a long time. I am too, man. I mean, look,
he's he's one of the best in the business, and
I think it's it just goes to show you, like
you were, your hard work pays off. I mean he is.
He has worked his tail off. Like I was trying
(32:04):
to explain to people when I was in high school.
I mean I was meeting with him for like a
weekly award for his his radio show on ESPN Radio
back then at a Flanagan's off Sawmill Road. Like That's
how I got to know Kurk Curb Street and seeing
his you know, rapid ascent, which you kind of felt
like it was rapid back then, but you know, because
(32:25):
it was in the last you know what, twenty years.
It's just it's cool. It's cool to see what he's
been able to make of his career as a broadcaster
and everything else. So uh, pretty neat MoMA. And then
then the personal stuff he's gone through this offseason when
was terrible. So I'm glad he's in better health to
be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LaVar Errington and
(32:46):
Jonas Knocks week days at six am easting three am Pacific.
All right, this is Jay Glazer. And you may know
me for the world of football or fighting raven shows
like HBO's Ballers. Well you don't know is for my
entire life. I have lived in something I refer to
as the Great Depression anxiety. So now I'm coming out
with a new podcast, Unbreakable, a mental health podcast with
(33:09):
Jay Glazer, where each week, well we talked about mental health.
I hope to describe it, give it words. Listen to
Unbreakable with Jay Glazer on the I Heart Radio app,
Apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. And so,
did you guys hear Mike Martz's criticism of trade Lands
following the game against Chicago. Um, it was brutal. It's
(33:34):
like terrible weather, like give him the benefit of doubt.
Is a young player. So for anybody that hasn't heard
these uh, Mike Martz had this to say. This was
courtesy of the thirty third Team. Mike Martz talking about
the performance of trade Lands, I want their eyeballs. Yeah,
I've never seen anything about this kid that was encouraging
(33:55):
at all. He really has to plan himself to make
a good throw. He's not a quick decision guy. Everyody's
shot in the rear about him being a a mobile
guy making plays with his feet. He looked like a
fullback stumbling around trying to run the ball. To me,
I mean, he's not Lamark, you know, so I don't
know what he is. He's not a particularly a good
guy running with the football. And based on what I
(34:18):
saw today, I mean he missed two guys completely by themselves.
I know it was in the rain, but your quarterbacks
do that, and when you make those throws Um, I
know this. He can only go up, he can only
get better, because you can't get any worse. When he
did today, I've never liked him. I still don't like him. Um,
(34:38):
I don't know. I'd like to know what he does
so well because he's not a great passer, doesn't have
good skills, takes a long time to set himself and
throw the football, and this is easy throws. He's a
particularly runner as a health player. Other than that, you know,
and m on soon so but Mike Mart's uh probably
(35:03):
will feel a little bit vindicated by this because there's
a video that is surfaced Trey Lance following the struggles
against the Chicago Bears. Um, making it rain. He's got strippers,
he's got I don't want to calm strippers there. You know,
strippers are professionals. He's at least got dancers. I don't
see any polls or anything like that. But he's making
(35:24):
a rain. He's having a good time. I just think
it's a little funny here because Jimmy Garoppolo goes on
one date with a porn star and he gets buried
for it. I'm not hearing a whole lot of people
talk about this I'm like, are we doing We're gonna
We're gonna play make things even here. I mean, we
get is Jimmy g finally gonna be vindicated that he's
not the only quarterback who likes to partake in Yeah,
(35:46):
come on, I mean, what are we talking about here?
Nobody's talking about Trey Lance with strippers. But we made
Jimmy Garoppolo going on a date with a porn star
part of the reason why we should judge him the
way we do and have questions about his leadership. I
could care less what guys doing there free time, as
long as you know they come to work, do their job,
that sort of thing. I think that's the alarming stuff
(36:06):
about Trey Lances. He just he's so inexperience. There's not
many guys who played his few of games as he
did in his college career. And then we're impacted by
COVID and just his transition to the NFL. I mean,
all those things play play a part in it. So
I just it's disappointing to hear that he's not focusing
on trying to to get one in the wind column.
(36:26):
I mean, this team is too talented, you know, I
know those guys, and Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch their grinders.
I mean, they put too much into this, you know,
to not be focused on trying to get things back
on track. But you know, I don't know, LaVar, maybe
he needs it, you know, maybe he needs that sort
of uh, that sort of environment or fun to get
things going to back in the right direction. Maybe it's
a slumpbuster form. I don't know. I'll say this first
(36:52):
of all, Mike Martz, that was funny as hell. That
s was funny as hell. I mean Blowtorch, I mean,
other than that, he's the hell of a QB gave
him CPR and that took the blow towards towards him again.
But but as it applies to Trey Lance, I'm I'm
confident in saying that the uh, I just think the
(37:20):
belief is in is in Jimmy Garoppolo man. And and
I wonder if if the forts of Kyle Shanahan, which
you gotta believe he knows, You gotta believe that John
Lynch he knows. And and let's just say for the
sake of saying that the Jimmy Garoppolo, the Jimmy Garoppolo
(37:45):
era finds a way to continue on this season, what
does that mean for the future? And I think that
that's what the biggest maybe debate or preparation has to
be in play. If trade Lands isn't showing now signs
(38:06):
that he can be the guy at Starter, it's probably
safe to say it's not going to be a fairytale
ending to what his pro career is going to be.
I'm gonna just keep it a hundred percent of buck
from the hip. If he hasn't shown that he has
the ability, like like, if people aren't sitting there like, okay,
(38:29):
you know, his upside is still crazy. It's crazy what
he could possibly do. He shows glimpses, he shows signs
like I just don't I don't hear that being discussed.
I don't feel like people are tremendously high on him.
And and so, now where does that leave San Francisco,
you know, because they're not going to make Jimmy Garoppolo
(38:50):
the long term solution to this team. It's not like, oh,
we made a mistake, we were gonna try to trade him,
he was out of here. We drafted high dot, a diet, this,
so on, so forth. That's not where you're at with things.
So what's next. They're probably going to have to figure
out how to unload JIMMYG, how to unload Trade Lance.
At some point, they don't have to unload Jimmy G.
I mean Jimmy, He's only a one year deal after
(39:11):
the series free anyway, Well, there you go. The hard
The hard thing is what you gave up to go
get Trade Lands. And that's why I still firmly go
back and and and we'll just say that wasn't their
intent when they traded up. I don't know that their intent.
I should said their intent wasn't to get Trade Lance,
it was to use that as trade bade for another team.
(39:33):
And I think that team was Green Bay to go
get Aaron Rodgers and try to get into San Francisco.
I think when that whole conversation was happening, that was
what that was all about. Because you find yourself in
a scenario where it sounds like the front office is
high and trade Lance and the head coaches and based
on game one, not a good look. But look, no,
you know, I'm not gonna judge this book by the
first chapter. It was a monsoon. It was a monsoon. Um,
(39:57):
they were playing against jonas Is Chicago Bears. Where I mean,
at this point, mattiebra Flus, maybe it could be the
you know, it's It's next Dicka, you know, and all
of a sudden you got the eight five Bears, a
reincarnation of that. So I'm not I'm not. I'm not
gonna make too much of just one game. It is
a little bit alarming. If this doesn't work out this season,
know what happens, I think you you could have a
(40:19):
fracture between Shanahan Lynch. You got Jimmy g moving on,
and then it's it's what do you do with Trey Lance?
Do you just buy into this for another year or
two until it doesn't work out. I was just gonna
ask you that if you think this causes friction between
has to the front office and and Kyle Shanahan, because
now Kyle Shanahan looks at him and says, we had
a Super Bowl roster and we blew it at the
(40:41):
one position we can't blow it at. And if it's
true that Rogers was Plan A, mac Jones was planned B,
you basically went all in for Plan C. And uh,
he's hanging out with strippers post Monsoon loss, and getting
buried by Mike Marrett. So, but again, may be a
slump buster. That's a fair point. You know, some people
(41:02):
need to do certain things to cope with losses, and
they hand differently. You know, there's nothing wrong with the slumpbuster.
You know, I hear you're a lot lizard. Yeah, what's
that on the air? By the way, love lizard. A
lot lizard is one of it's an all timer. It's
(41:24):
really an underrated, underrated term, a lot lizard. Oh man,
there is Roberto. There is that's that's Roberto. Fox Sports
