San Francisco. Trey Lances season is over. He suffered the
broken ankle yesterday. You know it was bad. They brought
out the air cast, they bring out the card. UH,
incomes Jimmy Garoppolo look pretty damn good. Forty niners get

it done, and so now the conversation becomes what does
this do to their odds in the division? Because now,
if you go to our friends at draftkings, the forty
niners are a plus one fifty to win the division,
only behind the l a rams, and I don't I
think they were the plus twos or threes. Like the

odds have gotten a lot better on San Francisco because
they're a better team with Jimmy Garoppolo quarterback, are they not?
I would say they are. Right now, like right now,
not knowing what Trey Lance could become or or build
himself into right now, and I felt this way coming
the season. They had a better outlook if Garoppolo is
the quarterback versus Lance. But that's not saying by the

end of the season if Lance didn't start to showcase
some of the special talent why he was drafted number
three over all, they traded to get him. But now
that's not going to be the case. I mean we're
not gonna see him this year and who knows what
then happens in the off season going into what would
be his third year. I think Jimmy did is more
equipped to handle all of the minutia that's a rounding

the quarterbacks position and situation right now as we stand.
I just coming into a situation like this as a rookie,
as a high draft pick, in the scenario, in the situation,
it's just, you know, it's just really hard, I would assume,
too emotionally and mentally, let alone physically, be prepared and

be ready to go as the starter of of the team.
I just don't think that the the circumstances you guys
are I mean it's like, yeah, it's like romp a
room up in here. That's that's why you ain't see
me like skip a beet Um, but that's why we
try to get him during his laugh so if you

(03:43):
hear Jonas laughing during his live reads, it's probably second yeah,
they're they're this bad every day. God bless you. But
a victim in this situation. You just told us this

(04:07):
story about swimming with Pablo Escobar's hippos and you are
you are a horrible person for that. You are a
horrible person because you know that hippopotamuses are very volatile animal.

Is Not catch me risking it all swimming with volatile
I'm really going to do this. But yeah, I just
don't think Trey Lance is in in in a position winning.
He's not in a winning situation. It's there's too much confusion.

It's hard enough to transition from college to pros to
be good. It's even more difficult when you transition as
a top draft pick. I don't think people understand how
much pressure is on you when you're a top draft pick,
because your position to be more than probably what you're
supposed to be at an early point in your career.

(05:16):
Like you look at certain positions, like you put somebody
on defensive end and you tell them to get up,
fill and sack the quarterback. If you're on a good team,
chances are you're gonna have success early. People are gonna
feel good about you. You you prove out when you
play more complicated positions, let alone the most complicated position

(05:38):
and being the quarterback, the things that that fan bases
expect from you, the media expect from you. Unless you're
able to really really navigate how you handle yourself in
your interviews, chances are you're going to irritate a lot
of people because you're not living up to the standard
that they would want you to be at. Being a

(05:59):
high draft pick. Now you enter in all of these
other uncertainties. You've been treating Jimmy Garoppolo like he's this
this step child that you don't want, that you inherit it,
and you've been winning with them, but yet you want
to move on from him, you want to get rid
of them, and now he's back to being your starter,

(06:21):
and only because of a serious injury, but everybody wanted
to see that happen. I just think that the odds
are stacked against trede lance at this point to at
least have success in San Fran I think it's going
to be a daunting test to have success in San France,
maybe somewhere else well. I wonder kind of what his
career is gonna look like too. I mean it's almost, Um,

(06:44):
I don't want to compare him to Jordan's love, but
it's kind of that face. It's that right Jordan loves
in his third year this year, we're not obviously gonna
see him packers last night. We you're like, by the way,
if people are we're not touching on that game or haven't. Well,
what do you expect? I mean we full everyone fully

(07:04):
expect if the packers to win and cover that game.
It really wasn't that competitive since the first quarter. Maybe
I mean the them saying that Justin fields didn't break
the goal of the plane of the goal line, when
the balls clearly in his hand and his arm. Yeah,
like you can see his not the ball right. So
that that makes it what seven growth and seven then

like yeah, there's no, there's not a the story coming
out of yeah, it's not happening. Um, but the point
is this, like going back to the Lance. You've got
Jordan love now their third year, not playing and Trey
Lance is going to be heading into his third year
having barely played in after the third year, you've got
to make a decision on what you do with this

(07:47):
fifth year, and that's where I think is gonna be
a really, really tough spot. Garoppolo be a free agent.
Who knows how this year goes. I mean they've got
so much invested into a guy that you basically have
to give one year to see what you're gonna what's
crazy is is this is the year, this is the year,
the off season, where you start saying we want a
new contract. If your trade, Lads, is representation, you're saying

we need a new contract. He can't say that, though.
I mean you can't. He'll he'll be they'll be lucky
if they make the decision to pick up his fifth
year option. Truth and depending on how he plays in
year three and how he returns from health and all that.
I mean, like I said earlier in the show, Jonas
was given a Mersa, you know, saying it's like say, listen,

you know, it's not a it's not a shoe in
that he's just gonna come back and be the same
player he was and maybe shy to run again, like
all of a sudden he's worried about about that happening. Um,
I just if, if, say, the forty niners go on
a run here to make the playoffs. Right now there
are two to one UM and favored to make the playoffs.

So you've gotta lay a hundred ninety bucks to win
them right now to make the rounds. I agree, like
I think. I think this back in that game. I
think this, this change is I think this could change
how that division plays out. I mean the Arizona and
we can get into the Arizona game coming up in

a few minutes. Or shorthanded, though they're very shorthanded right now,
Arizona is. I think they will be better moving forward.
That was one of those you stole one wins, if
you ask me. Kyler put him on his back. Unbelievable.
That two point was ridiculous. Town was the touchdown was ridiculous.
I mean, that's only something he can do. That's only

something he can do. Two point, the touchdown, it was
just do the throw. Forget the one when he ran
in the throw that bad boy and pointed him out
like if I'm a trying run that way, that's like
if you if you just look at his stature, you
go I mean, they're okay, but they don't. They're not

to six touchdowns and and and all the you know
the performance he put on. But if you want, there
was a point in that game where Kyler Murray literally
said screw it, I gotta make plays. This is how
this is going to go. And and this is our
only chance getting back in this game. And you've talked
about it. Teams that go owen too don't make the playoffs.

That might have saved their entire season. That wins. I
don't make the playoffs. That might have saved their entire season.
Just seeing what the hell he was able to do
just late in that game, that was bananas to see.
Maybe it's a precursor to the fact that you can't,

I don't know how sustainable winning that way. It's not
the whole from Isaiah Simmons hit too, everything that tyler
had to do. It was a dope hit, it was.
But Um, who was it? Murphy Byron? Murphy Dude almost
fun with that before he went across the goal line. Yeah,

I was the dude in the suit running down the
side line. That's what I want to know there was
a dude on the sideline that was keeping pace with
Murphy running down the sideline to score. I don't know
who it was. I thought it was fitzgerald at first,
but I was like no, that's not it can't be fitzgerald.
I won't say why, but I just knew it wasn't

hem and. But somebody was just watching that thinking the
way this game is gone, it would only be appropriate
if he actually let go to the football before he
could imagine if he fumbled it and they touched it back.
I was texting with a buddy. He had the cardinals
plus five and a half and as soon as they
converted the two point conversion, he goes, oh no, oh no.

He was so worried Las Vegas is gonna cover in overtime.
He was saying, I wish they just would have lost
in regulation. Yeah, I know somebody who was looking at
Arizona money line plus eight hundred. Got A gotta gotta live.
Bet in Arizona money lines plus eight hundred. Live that, Jesus,
you know, or live that Jonas. You know what happened there.

Just you know, a little, a little. Plus eight eight
hundred you get you a little something, a little little sniff,
you know, a little bump. Huh, cardinals, plus a little party, Um,
a little party. So we do have speaking away storms, speaking,
speaking of Snow flurries in Las Vegas, Cliff Kingsbury afterwards. Uh,

this was obviously a big win for the Arizona Cardinals. Uh.
He spoke not only about his quarterback but also what
you know, the mornings in Las Vegas for him usually
feel like there's usually I've just lost and I'm Super
Hungover on Sundays in Vegas. So this was a good
a good change. I was telling everybody get in the
locker room and get on the bus and get out
of here. I mean, we'll learn from that and obviously, um,

luckily he's not meme for the next three years of
his life. Yeah, he wasn't gonna lose. I mean, whatever
we're calling he was. He was extracting at a high
level and one of the ball in his hands and Um,
when he's in that mode, he's he's to stop like uh,
the the the end of that came for Kyler Verry
just like not. And you talked about the throw, the
two point conversion. He just he seemed like because they

tried to go to Aj Green a couple of times.
He dropped the ball and you could tell he just said,
I mean, I don't I gotta do it myself, like
at one point that he just he was the option,
even in overtime. Yeah, well, you saw the one pass
before he ran it in for the touchdown. He was
like you had the tight end. URT's on the shoulder.

What are you doing? He just looks at get your
head around, goodbye, and you know and you know what
he's thinking in his head, like that's the close of
my my contract. Everybody's making fun of me. I gotta
study more, like I don't know what I'm doing. Everybody's

gonna blame it on me. Okay, they're gonna blame it
on me. Okay, you don't wanna turn your head. They're
gonna blame it on me. I'm just running. Even in overtime.
He three a dime to Hollywood Brown and he got
he didn't. He didn't knocked it out. He knocked it
out and you're going you gotta be kidding me. Did
you see kingsberry? Why don't we bring him here? Man,

Anybody he wasn't as pissed as Tommy rece was this weekend.
That was phenomenal Um. But the throw that for the
two point conversion, that a j green. How difficult to
throw is that it's it's difficult in the sense of
you're trusting and hoping, you're not thinking of that moment well,

that he's gonna read what you're doing, because you're, like
you said, he was directing him like go, but what
he doesn't factor, and it doesn't matter at that point, right,
because you got one shot at this. You gotta put
the ball in harm's way. If there was any any
raiter's defensive back and just reading his eyes, he easily
could attract that football and picked it off. And that's

what you teach the defender, because he held it long
enough and guys are running around and they're starting to
lose guys because they're gonnaly cover for so long. Their
eyes weren't on him. Their eyes are on the receivers
and they're trying to this guy and yeah, just go

by the way, after he didn't he have a drop
right before or something? Didn't he have a big miss
or a big drop, a j green at the end
zone or two of them. He almost dropped that one,
by the way, the two points, he was almost out. Yeah, yeah,

for cardinals fans, to fans in the desert, we're pretty
pleased with that one. The best, I mean you hate
to admit it, but the best feeling of a victory
is when you thought that it was certainly short defeat
and you've already accepted it. Like you got to believe
that cardinals fans had already accepted that they were losing
that gang and then all of a sudden, you know,

out of nowhere, they're able to win it. We were
filming something yesterday. I lovely pot. We paused, like made
them pause to watch that whole thing, like we're gonna
WE'RE gonna delay this a little bit so we can
see this finish, and this is ridiculous at this point. Yeah,

it's not like Frank Reich hasn't been through a bunch, right.

And did you have Philip the first year at Philip Rivers?
Carson Wentz? Yeah, he had. He had Brissette, because obviously
andrew like decided on the sideline of a preseason game
you want to play anymore, and so you kind of do.
Would think the colts are a better team though, they're better,

front center of it, but then you got Navarro and
you got you got Michael Parsons and you got Brandon Bell.
But you might have to build another space because this

I'm telling you, guys, abdual carters is pretty special. He
falls right in with what the greatness of what the
number is represented. I saw an interview with him where

well he's branded himself and his amazing career at Penn State,

they were not getting the results they're looking for out
of the offense. Um, I think coaches who have a

great relationship with players, knowing they can coach a kid hard,
and drew pine is a kid that you can coach
hard another day, like he's been there a long time. Um,
he's he knows the offense in and out. He's a
kid that's beloved that. You know the reaction you saw
from Marx Freeman when he was announced his head coach.
That's kind of a similar field for how the guys
feel about drew pine, like he's the first kid. When

(26:06):
Tyler buckner's out there throwing a touchdown pass, who's running
down the sidelines to cheer him on? Or whoever has
been before him? Jack Cohen last year, right, who is
the starter? Same thing. He's the first guy like that.
Jim Ratt, like everyone loves him. So when he has success,
you know you kind of kind of see that the
way people react. But there's also an element of this

(26:27):
gonna be high expectations. He's been on the program and
you can be coached hard like I'm sure Lavar you
know this, like there's certain kids you can coach hard
like that and they respawned to it, which is the
biggest thing. Like when you know your players, like I
was like that I didn't want to hear anything when
I did something well. I didn't give a crap. I
want to hear when I wasn't doing something well, and
I knew like I was always better when when I

(26:50):
had a coach who got on me or things got
like confrontational, like I remember, like Charlie Wis and I
got into it on on a sideline one time in
East Lansing, Michigan, and and like that was kind of it.
We had words and then, you know, rest, the rest
is history. You know, come back win the game. But
that was how I operated and that's and he knew that,
and so there's there's times when you're gonna have a

(27:10):
coach like that with a player like that and a
kid like that. Honestly, I love it, like I love
everything about that young man. So I was happy for
not name finally getting to win. Man, I was happy
for Y'all too, because did you see the end? Bro
Just Bat the ball down, start trying to get an interception.
That was almost a disaster. If you watch it in

slow motion. The stomach. Yeah, that was stomach while we
were watching it. Yeah, I was. I was with our
I was with our crew. You know, I was with
our crew and they were just looking at me and
I was just kept drinking. I kept drinking. It was

like I had a game later on, so I couldn't drink,
but I was pumped up. I'll tell you that I
was intoxicated off of being able to make fun of

When we start high, we finished low. So now we
we have started Um, we have started super, super low
and we're climbing high. So that's that's you know, I like.
I like our trajectory right now. We got we got
a team because our secondary can cover probably probably, I think,

the best secondary in to ten. We got a secondary
that can give us the opportunity to get and if you,
if you saw the way our front seven gets after it.

he's called. He's dialing up some nice plays. I gotta

He's calling up some Nice plays, and I'm I'm just
saying Michigan. You know a state that's coming up in what?
Three weeks or October fifteen, coming up in uh, just
under a month, at number four, Michigan. If we can

get it done in Ann Arbor, I believe this could
be a year that we knock off Ohio. Stayed at
home and I will be at that game. Is that
a is that a big new boys game and Penn
State of Michigan? I don't think it is, if it's
not official, but I am anticipating that will be a
big in happy valley, which, by the way, my first

time at Michigan. That one. Yeah, that one. No, we're
for sure that at that one and I'm not gonna
do back to back. Penn state will yes, I mean
Fox is a big ten station, whether people know it
or not, big twelve, big patch wolf. Yeah, it's harder
