Speaker 1 (00:01):
It's the best of two pros and a couple of
Joe with Lamar are Rady Quinn and Jonas Knocks on radio.
So obviously we had Monday Night football last night at
MetLife Stadium. You had the Dallas Cowboys getting it done
over the New York Giants. A boring ass game to

(00:22):
start off with, but it picked up towards the end.
Cooper rush with a nice touchdown past to Ceedee Lamb,
who made up for that drop that he had early
in the game. Also, by the way, did you did
you feel bad for Kenny Golladay when they threw him
that ball and he dropped it trying to make a
play and immediately just walked off the sideline and everybody
was booing him. Did you feel a little bit bad

(00:43):
for him? I'm starting to feel bad for Kenny Golladay.
Why would you feel bad for because it just feels
like keeps trying so hard. It feels always trying, so
apparently he's not trying hard enough in practice. That's the
whole reason why Brian Table was playing David Sills over him.
It's because he's trying to implement a culture and he
wants these guys to practice the way they're going to play,
and God of Day wasn't doing that. So I do

(01:04):
think he's starting to get the message now since it's
impacted his plate time in his career. But like I,
I don't. I don't feel bad for a player if
they're not going out there and preparing the way everyone
else is on the team, and if everyone else is
getting the message but he's not, so I I you
don't feel bad for it. I mean, it's sad that
he hasn't been able to be the player that they

(01:25):
hoped he would be in New York. I still think
he's got that ability in him. It's just about him
now getting back out on the field and having the opportunity.
And clearly a dropped like that Nazi doesn't help. They
were wearing his ass out like those Giants fans were
all over and when he dropped that pass and he
was a relevant it was relevance. Though there was relevance

(01:45):
to wearing them out, there was relevance to the game.
It came down to the last drive. I mean, that's
you want to know what's great for football, New York
Super Giants and the Big D Dallas Cowboy ways being
in a Monday night game. That's that's competitive. That actually
came down to the last draft. And throwbacks, throwback jerseys too,

(02:08):
and the throwback and the throwback UNI's not that crummy
and why and why with with the jersey jay here?
You just need the giants right across the helmet like
they did back in the eighties such as so it's
all about right, yeah, back in the Glory Days for
that team. It's been a bad football team. The Glory Days, yeah,

(02:30):
big time. People talk about him all the time. Love
the Glory Days. That made a restaurant. You know, there's
a restaurant called Glory Days. Is there? Are you sure
it's not Happy Days? Is already thinking of yeah, it's
it's glory No, there's a Glory Days. It's Glory Days.
Happy Days was a show, right yeah, yeah, that was
with fawns. Yeah, the fawns. Yeah it was yeah yeah him. Um.

(02:55):
So this was from Jane Slater who report did this,
obviously covering the Cowboys for a long time. She said
that Dak Prescott showed the thumb post stitch removal, no
swelling healing and uh oh man and uh. Dak Prescott

(03:19):
says that the Cowboys Rams game in Week five is
a game that he could possibly start. But you get
the sense that he would go Sunday versus Washington if
he could, But that will be a team slash Dak
decision to be smart about it. So, based on what
you've seen from Cooper Rush, if you're the Dallas Cowboys,
are you putting Dak Prescott out there this upcoming weekend

(03:41):
against the Commandos? Like they need to give him time
to build back up strength and feeling and all that stuff. Like,
I don't know why they feel the need to rush
him in. Cooper Rush has played well, so you don't
need to rush Dak Prescott is and you can beat
the Commandos with Cooper Rush at Yeah, I think if
you could beat the Gilt, That's what I was gonna say. Yeah, yeah,

(04:04):
I mean I think that's more The observation is why
rush him back into the scenario when you have Rush
doing as well as he's doing out there. As you
guys ever listened to the band Rush, I actually used
to be a pretty big fan. I think they've got
a unique sound to the Rush. What about the song
that that that Paula ab Duels sang, You know there

(04:26):
was a song rush. Yeah, yeah, something like that. It's
what you do to me? What is that? I don't
know that's part of what she was taking. But it

(04:46):
was an USh all right? Why I mean, you didn't
know Paul Abduel was going to make an appearance here
as we as we we're talking about rush, Yeah, of
course makes makes all the sense in the world. Rush music.
Do you think we have it? We could play like
Tom Sawyer, like that song that's like you go to

(05:08):
Russian Canadian band. By the way, Rush is it Canadian?
I didn't know that. Like bacon from Very Yeah, Very,
that's actually one bacon I'm not a fan of. Like,
I feel like it's just it's not good. I like
them on croissants when, especially when I'm in a rush.

(05:31):
You like Canadian bacon on croissants. Huh Yeah, just just
feels like where are you going? It just feels like
it's a lot, a lot of a lot of bread.
Are you a lot of food in the morning? You
know what I mean? God, dude, what interesting? It's just
you're you're on an island with your diet, alright, Jonas
just some people out there now. Jonas doesn't eat streaks,

(05:53):
a bunch of water. And you know what island that is.
It's called jack Island, is what it's called. It's actually
not Yeah, it smaller, ripped up like a bad report card. Alright,
So so that is the that is that is yeah,
you know, yeah, leave that part out for the radio.

(06:15):
Yeah it is. You do you rush? You're a class act.
Foul class act. By the way. So the situation in
the NFC East, all right, can I make a case

(06:36):
right without you guys laughing me off the air, Dallas
is only a game behind Philadelphia right now, right now,
we all agree in Philadelphia looks like far and away
the best team not only in that division, but the
best team in the conference. But Dallas is sitting a
game back. They're almost four to one to win the division.

(06:58):
They haven't played Philadelphia yet, right, so this is still
There's gonna be a couple of matchups coming up once
in a couple of weeks that maybe Dad will be
back for, maybe he won't be back for. Can I
make the case that there's some value in the Dallas
Cowboys still winning that division, sitting on DraftKings right now
plus three lay the I mean, this is your advice

(07:20):
to right. No, I'm just saying, like I'm throwing it
out there is there is there the potential that Dallas
is not out of this yet because Philadelphia looks like
the best team in the league. They're actually their odds
to win their division are the highest, tied with Tampa Bay,
of any team in the league. So like, people are
really high on Philadelphia right now, but we're only three
weeks in. It just feels like those are pretty long

(07:42):
odds for Dallas, who was the preseason the team to
beat in that division. If Dad comes back, if if
you beat Washington and you go undefeated with Cooper Russiat quarterback,
and you're sitting at three in one next week and
you got the Rams and the Eagles afterwards, and you
end up getting Dak back, It's as good of us
An areas they possibly could hope for when he went
down with the injury, because everyone thought once he went

(08:04):
down with the injury, seasons over. Mike McCarthy's gonna get fired.
What about Sean Payton, what about Dan Quinn? Is this
the end of the road for Ezekiel Elliott? It just
feels like they've found a little something there, and I'm
a little bit more optimistic on Dallas, and I was
a couple of weeks ago. I think there's some real
it's a viable option for them to win the division
at plus three eighty. By the way, shout out to

(08:25):
some backup quarterbacks stepping up against some wins. Yes, Cooper Rush,
Jacoby Brisette. We got some guys plans of good football
man stepping up. Is that insurance policy, if you will,
But it does it seem like offenses down a little
bit in the league so far. You know. One of
the things in preparation for my game, and it actually
came to fruition in the game a former Penn stater

(08:46):
by the way, LaVar Warrior, he got cold. He got
called for four legal contact penalties and they actually declined
one of them. He could have gotten called for another.
But that was the points of emphasis coming into this
year in the NFL. Is a llegal contact And what
motivated that was the fact that scoring was down last year,

(09:08):
and so I think passing yards were down. Scoring was down,
and so of course the NFL, yes in the NFL
knowing that it's a scoring league and people want points.
They don't want what we saw in the first half
that LaVar loved, but you know, the NFL doesn't. So
they basically told the officials, make sure you're you're keeping
you know, a strong eye on a llegal contact, which

(09:30):
is any contact made with a you know, receiver more
than five yards down field. Um. And so in our
game in particular, like it was almost in the second half,
every single drive like Amani over Warrior, what was called
for a legal contact? Just think about that. Think about
what you just said. The NFL is like, hey, scoring
is down a little bit. It's so different than Major

(09:52):
League Baseball Baseball more home runs, they control the manufacturing.
It's different. It's like we can't just you know, out
and now it's say like hey, you know, uh, give
them a free pass and so they can put up
some more points. But let's go ahead and let's let's
sort of groove the penalty towards this direction so we
can at least increase the amount of scoring. It's like

(10:13):
when hockey got rid of the two line passed back
in the day because they wanted to see more goals
and they it's like, I mean, what's wrong with some defense.
You can't have some low scoring games from time to time.
I mean, they were probably piste off about the eleven
to ten game on Sunday night. You know, we look
like too bad trying to take away defense sticks not

(10:33):
having it, huh. I mean, I enjoyed the first half,
and I enjoyed the fact that they went into the
locker room and made their adjustments and they had some
more offense. I mean, you know, listening to rules and
penalties that are called to generate more offenses, something that's
not new to a defender. So it's just kind of like,

(10:56):
you know, it's kind of mute it to me. You know.
That's the problem is like guys like LaVar had to adjust,
or like Dbs they have to adjust, and it stinks.
But it's just the reality of it is. I think
the game has forced defensive players to have to adjust
more to the rules than offensive players, and that's the
that's the tough part is defensive players are more apt
to get fine. Defensive players have to change their techniques

(11:18):
and the way they do things every year to abide
by the rules really and look as an offensive player,
I would say it's not fair. Like I think the
game's got to a point where it makes the job
of defensive players so much harder, And I personally hate it,
like I I really do. I personally hate the fact that, um,
someone in LaVar's position or any defensive player goes into

(11:39):
every season's like, well, what what's gonna be the thing
they're pointing out? Now? You know, legal contact this year,
maybe it's holding the next year, who knows. But the
way they go about handling this, it only makes defensive
players job is harder. Did you see the one bet
man to be a bet man in today's NFL? Is
what I would say. Did you see the penalty on

(12:00):
Sterling Shepherd before halftime last night? They called him for
past interfearence that was incidental at best, like he was
intentionally trying to to hit digs and they obviously later
on he went down with the injury the non contact,
which looks to be pretty severe. Um and uh, and
he was carded off. But before halftime he got called
for past interference and Dave Ball was losing it on

(12:21):
the sideline. Old dump truck Nuts was piste off about
what was happening, and I just like, how is how
is that past interference? Like it was incidental contact, it
was downfield, I get it, but he wasn't intentionally trying
to crack back or clip digs. It looked like he was,
if anything, trying to get out of the way or
brace himself. Then he got called for it. So it

(12:42):
feels like that was another one that got people hot
and bothered last night. I hear you, man, I hear you.
Good call. Be sure to catch live editions of Two
Pros and a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LaVar
Arrington and Jonas Knocks week days at six am Eastern,
three am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I

(13:03):
Heart Radio app. Did you see the Ken Dorsey outburst
at the end of that Bill's Dolphins game where he
started smashing everything on the desk and bringing it down,
obviously frustrated, obviously annoyed with how the game ended. It
was a hotly contested game. Yeah, you know, because Tommy Reese,

(13:24):
uh you know, it was maybe just airing out his
quarterback and Ken Dorsey threw everything down, just kind of
lost his cool a little bit. So for some reason
he had to address the situation publicly. All right, So
here was the Bill's offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey, former Miami Hurricane,
talking about his outburst at the end of that game

(13:45):
on Sunday. It was intense game, it was a passionate game. Um,
you know, I'm up in the box. I'm watching my
guys down there just give us everything they possibly have
in him with effort and from start to finish playing nineties,
something snaps in the game, and uh, you know, it
was a playoff atmosphere, a lot of credit to Miami Dolphins,

(14:08):
and obviously we weren't on the winning end of it.
So it's a it's frustrating and reacted that way. And
obviously that's something that I'm definitely gonna learn from. And uh,
you know, I don't ever want to want to take
the passion out of the game. We're all in this
on this to win football games for obviously for the Bills,
for for our fans, and uh, we're gonna give give

(14:30):
them everything we got. But it's something I'm gonna learn from,
and uh, and make sure you know it's a correct
to move forward. Why does he have to talk about this?
Why does he have to defend anything? What did he
do wrong? Because they showed it on TV. I mean, look,
it's it's a display that you know, people obviously talk about.
So someone's gonna ask about. I just the whole reason

(14:51):
you go up to the box as a play caller
offensively or defensively is you're able to have a better
vantage point, right, I think we're all better are seeing
things a little further back at a better perspective. But
it's really the cut awaiting emotion. You know, for anyone
who's ever been up in those boots, it's quiet. I mean,
all it is people kind of looking down, communicating what
they're seeing, and in his case, obviously calling plays. You know,

(15:15):
you do that to remove yourself from being impacted by
the emotions of the game. A lot of the things
he just talked about. So the fact that when they
have a camera up there, I hate to a degree
only because you know, there's a lot of things that
are setting done up there that they should be broadcast
and it shouldn't be shown. It's it's like you're almost
gonna be a sneak peek into what some of the

(15:36):
conversations are like in the locker room between a coach
and player. And he reacted in a way that like
it shows you his cares, Like I like, I don't,
I don't really care what people's opinion are of as
as far as how he reacted, he would't to win
that game, Like when you and I talked about this yesterday.
He's coming back to Miami, he's the play caller, he's
you know, he went to the University of Miami, had

(15:57):
a ton of success. You know, he wants to win
that game him. He knows how important it is in
the context of the FC East. The Dolphins have a
leg up on the Buffalo Bills. So he understood exactly
winning that game, what it meant to be able to
take one from Miami there knowing that they're your toughest
competition in the division, because then you get to, you know,
come back home and you know you're you're gonna be

(16:18):
able to kind of and basically have to sweep and
have the division in hand. Almost. That was a big loss.
I mean I thought that was a big loss. And
and listen, people have, people have moments. I mean, would
you rather him not care? Shucks lost that one. We'll
get him next week. Boys like come like Tom Brady

(16:41):
has had them. He had a melt down with a
surface as well. I mean, God's have meltdowns. I love it.
I think it's fun. I think it's funny, but there's
also a passion then an intensity that's connected to it.
Like I don't think that people should be you know,
shaming him over overhead being a moment. I mean, there's

(17:01):
some moments that you wish you could have gotten back.
I mean, you're coaching at the highest level of levels,
and I can't even imagine what that that pressure feels like.
I mean, I know for me, we we we went
into our game last week and I was dialing up
plays and I was dottling up calls and we we

(17:21):
still weren't stopping them. You know, the Chid ran for
over two hundred yards. He I got like two six yards.
You don't win. Yeah, we did. They couldn't now, they
couldn't get into the end zone. I mean that's what
that's what red zone defense. We we we did pretty well.

(17:42):
They got all their points off a big play. You
can beat us inside the twenties, nothing more though. I mean,
but you should have saw me at halftime, you know
what I mean, Like, and I had to go do
it in a place where the players or the or
the coaches couldn't see the off to myself, what you say,
oh man? And then once I once I had my

(18:05):
melt down, and I got my melt down out of
the way. I grabbed, I grabbed the iPad, I looked
at it and and we made some adjustments. And you
know what, we we gave up seven points and then
we only gave up fourteen points in the first half.
We only gave up seven in the second half. So
it wasn't like the yards equated to a dominant performance

(18:26):
of scoring. It just was it ain't looked good optically.
It didn't look good, and it was frustrating because you
take a whole lot of time to come up with
a game plan, then you take a whole lot more
time to implement the game plan with the players, and
then you're asking the players how do you feel about it?
Then you tell them the guys you got a key on,

(18:48):
this is the person you gotta be paying attention to.
You get into the game, and then something totally different happens.
If you don't love and care about those kids, the
the guys that are playing, If you don't love and
care about the game, then it doesn't matter to you.
Right like I'm moving on, like the next thing's up.
But if you really love what you do and you

(19:09):
care about what you do. Every once in a while,
you're going to have a moment where the emotions and
the moment, you know, could lead to you having some
frustrations that that play out in a way that are
you know, the way it played out for Ken Dorsey.
I just can't believe that. First Sean McDermott's got to
talk about it and say, well, we're gonna learn from this,

(19:31):
and then Ken dork from it. What do you think
the conversation was really like between Sean McDermott and Ken
Dorrisy do you think that even do you think about Yeah,
you think Sean mcdermoty even cares. Do you think any
of those players care that? Like, hey, coach melted down
up in the booth, Like I just laughed, Yeah, I don't.
I don't understand why, but I couldn't believe some of

(19:53):
the coverage it got to wear more and said, well,
you know this is this could be a sign that
maybe maybe he's not cut out. Dude, You're in a
game like that, He's taking over play calling duties for
a team that everybody assumes is going to be in
the Super Bowl. After a really successful run for Brian
day Ball to Brady's point, he's back home playing at

(20:14):
Miami where he had a great career when when it
was with the Hurricanes, and it's a game in which
they feel like they probably should have won. You look
at how much time a possession was. You look at
how many plays they ran. Guys are exhausted. Everybody's cramping up.
They have an opportunity to get down and win the
game on a field goal and they run out of time.
Who who wouldn't be frustrating? Yeah, I mean, come on, man,

(20:37):
a lot of craps giving a busted his balls Ken
Dorsey because God forbid. And then you know Tom Brady
is talking about it. They're yelling at Tom Brady because
he's throwing tablets on the sidelines like everybody wants to see, like, hey,
what's it like out there? And then you see what
it's like out there? And then people get bothered. Can
I ask you if you guys ever like reacted like

(20:57):
that and broke something, Yes that did you feel better?
Of course I didn't break anything, but like I was
telling you, I had to go off to myself and
and the things that I said, the like you know
what I mean, Like the the energy that you feel
in that moment, you certainly would feel better if you

(21:19):
had a sledge hammer and a car that you could
use the sledge hammer. Like it's just you. Sometimes you
just need to have that release, you know, And in
the moment he had that, that feeling in the moment,
and then it was just it was that time. I
think the reason why he had to give the explanation
was because for some strange reason, I think the sponsors

(21:42):
get butt hurt over there that product continuing to be
the prop that's used in moments of frustration. It's like,
we're Microsoft, We're not here for you guys to abuse
us and your moments of of intensity and passion. You
maintain that control or you release it on something else.

(22:04):
Do it with a Gatorade like go after Gatorade. Do
it with a Gatorade bottle. Do it with a Gatorade
you know, uh, you know, the big jug or whatever.
Do it with something else. Stop stop doing it with
our our products, because you're making us seeing like where
the product that you can just beat up, break up
and discard at any point you don't think it's a

(22:26):
good publicity for them. You don't think like, hey, what's
that he's breaking over there. Wow, it's a it's a tablet.
When you get frustrated, you want to break a ta.
By the way, it's a great a great business model. Well,
you get frustrated, break our tablet and call us back.
What We'll send you another one at half price. You
think you think they actually break it or make it indestructible. Guys, guys,

(22:48):
you don't want it to be indestructible, otherwise you can't
sell another one. Point Yeah, you gotta buy another one.
So I actually think that you want to highlight this.
You say, hey, break all the tablets you want. You
don't smack each other in the face with them, if
you want smashed them over each other's heads. It's a
new challenge hashtag tablet challenge. Yeah, Jonas comes standing, let
me smashed this over your head? Come by five more. Yeah,

(23:11):
by the way, we're not did you guys? So were
your dad's hotheads when you were when they would be
watching a game or they'd see you play a game
or anything like that. Okay, like, let me just smash
this tablet over. So here's why I bring this up.
Here's here's why I bring this up. We grew up

(23:33):
there was a coffee table we had in our house,
and there was a portion of it that was broken.
There was like just like there was some tiling on
it and it was cracked from side to side. And
I remember asking my mom like, Hey, why is this broken?
And apparently my dad was watching a Celtics game and
got so piste off at Darryl Garrett's and the referee

(23:55):
that he smashed his hand through the coffee table. And
I thought to myself, you know what, at least he
gave a crap. At least he cared. At least was
a break or was it a no? It was like
like a hammer punch. Yeah not not no karate trains,
like a shot monk. It was a shalent monk with it. Yeah. Okay,

(24:16):
yeah that too. I mean no, no, no karate training there.
But at least he gave a rip. At least he cared.
Ken Dorsey having to apologize Tom come on no mean
streets and monmoth and all. You think he's getting worse
when you when you discover you have a splinter, that
is the worst. Yeah, how do you get it out?

(24:36):
What do you do? You go that I would get
that safety pin or a needle. So yeah, a needle. Yeah,
it's the worst, man. It's good. I mean, especially when
that that that thing gets all the way down in
there and you gotta dig deep to get it. You
got dig deep to get it out. And then just
imagine if you didn't get it out and you had
a Microsoft surface sitting right there in front of smash it,

(24:59):
would you start smashing it up? That was a good story.
Thank you. I appreciate it. Appreciate the support here. All right,
it is two Pros and Radio it is you still
have that table, John, I know, we don't know. We
don't have that table anymore. I know. I mean, then
then the passion was all for not because that should

(25:19):
be a constant reminder to you every day, every time
you walk past it, to have passion about the things
I did with it. You don't, you don't. You don't
respect the sentimental value of things like that. And yet
you used it as a story. And you know what,
he didn't have to apologize after the fact for it,
and it makes that's Ryan. Be sure to catch live
editions of Two Pros and a Cup of Joe with

(25:41):
Brady Quinn, LaVar Arrington and Jonas Knocks week days at
six am Eastern, three am Pacific. Hey, what's up everybody.
It's me three time Pro Bowl Little Barrington and I
couldn't be more excited to announce a new podcast called
Up on Game? What is Up on Game? You asked,
along with my fellow pro bowler t J. Hudgmans Otta

(26:01):
and Super Bowl champion That's right, Plexico Birds. You can
only name a show with that type of talent on it.
Up on Game We're going to be sharing our real
life experiences loaded with teachable moments. Listen to Up on
Game with Me, LaVar Arrington, t J. Hudgmansatta, and Plexico
Birds on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or

(26:24):
wherever you get your podcast from. So stop me if
you've heard this before. The l A Chargers are dealing
with injuries. Um, it was not a good couple of
weeks for the l A Chargers and things got a
little bit worse yesterday. Rashawn Slater is done for the
year with a biceps injury. Joey bo says, dealing with

(26:47):
what Brandon Staley is calling a significant groin injury, which
just sounds painful. Jalen Guiden is now out for the year,
he's got a knee injury he got, Justin Herbert banged up,
Keenan Allen missed the game. Corey Linsley there, center J C.
Jackson has been banged up. The hell's going on with
the Chargers. Every year this team is dealing with injuries
like this. Every year they had like eight players and

(27:10):
like the NFL Top one hundred, like five of them
are injured. It's it's ridiculous. I think it's ever since
they move from San Diego, they've been snake bitten. I'm
not sure what you attributed to, but at this point, um,
they need to start looking to some like outside the
realm of spiritual healing here. I mean, I'm not I'm

(27:32):
not sure what who we need to talk to, but
they need to figure this out because it really has
put a damper in a number of their seasons. They're
they're just two talents and they are constantly dealing with injuries.
Maybe maybe a Marvin gay Hit type of healing, you know,
I don't know, you it just you just need some alternatives,
you know, outside of just regular you know, conventional sports medicine,

(27:55):
you know, so to speak. Well, when they try to
use conventional sports medicism. Some guy got stabbed, so there
was there was that they may need to go outside
and they're like a different spiritual realm. That's that's what
I just said. It's just Marvin Gay is one thing,
but there's other thre's other things out there. Jonas is

(28:16):
very familiar with. What do you what are you referring to?
Is some of that that that root weed that Aaron
Rodgers smokes that stuff? All right? All right, okay, there's
some of that. I don't know. I'm spitballing here, all right.
I mean, the Charges have been dealing with us forever
and I don't understand now. I mean, they're like one

(28:38):
team that you can just bank on it every year. Hey,
the Charges look like they have a super roster. Yeah,
but unless they get hit by injuries. And it's every year.
We talked about this with this team. I just I
know we've thrown out there chronic. It's chronic, great weather
living injuries. Come on the Dolphins. The Dolphins don't deal
with these type of injuries. I mean, you know, the

(29:00):
the Jaguars, who are the best, got just to have
just got his head, you know, banged up. Yeah, he
came back in that I deal with some injuries. The
only person deals with these sorts of injuries is Christian McCaffrey.
So and we know how he heals. That's good weather injuries,
and we know how he heals. But that's but it's
kind of the same premise though. You get to enjoy

(29:21):
things away from the game when you're injured. That's a
good point. If you're Christian McCaffrey, that's a good point.
Put that out there. So here was Brandon Staley, of course,
was asked after the game that Justin Herbert played obviously dealing.
He didn't look like he was a hundred percent at
times during that game. He was dealing with the rib injury,

(29:42):
the cartilage issue and all that, and so he was
being hounded as to why he was still in the
game and still playing when the game was clearly out
of reach and they were just getting the doors blown
off them by the Jacksonville Jaguars. So here was the
I did not so he he was the Chargers head coach.
After the game, he wanted to be out there with

(30:03):
his teammates. Um, he felt good, um, And he wanted
to finish the game. He wanted to, you know, give
our group some energy. You know, we were going to
protect him there at the end with you know, really
sound protection as best we could, but you know it
was more about you know, him wanting to finish with
his guys. Franchise quarterback is at some places that coach
you need to step in and say, you already have
a significant matory for sure. Believe me, m throughout the

(30:25):
entire game. That's the first thought throughout the game and
at the end of the game. And so trust me,
there's no one that's thinking about him more than I am.
Well take that risk if that's if that's at the
front of your mind and it's that important, why Daniel,
That was just the decision that we made, and it
was about us finishing that game as a team, and

(30:46):
it was important to us that we did it. Brandon,
was there any discussion between you and him, Yes, yes,
there definitely was. He wasn't so there was. That was
Brandon's daily having to answer to the media as to
why his quarterback was still out there. I mean, he
didn't rip two ligaments in his knee, right, I mean,
he was still able to throw the ball somewhat and

(31:09):
he only got sacked once. It's I mean it's not
like you know, he was he was getting blown away
by like Carson Wentz was, or like Daniel Jones was
last night where they had no time to throw the football. Yeah,
he didn't look a hundred percent. But it's almost like
they're alluding to Brandon Staley being reckless having Justin Herbert
out there, Like Justin Herbert is not gonna ask out

(31:30):
of that game. And secondly, like Brandon Staley would put
him in harm's way if he really felt like like
he needed to step in and do something there. I don't.
I don't know why he's getting his balls broken by
people because he had Justin Herbert out there and a
blowout and come on, I think I think the question
really should be, you know, could he make the injury
worse by being out there? Um? And is that going

(31:52):
to impact his his play move forward or the potential
to lose him for a longer period of time. UM.
I don't. I don't believe that to be the case.
You know, I dealt with bruise ribs and touring cartilage
and all that before. Um that we're really we just
kind of numbed it up and you went on, you
kept playing, but you know again, I don't know the

(32:13):
specifics to to his issue that he's dealing with or
how he's feeling when he's out there. There are times
when you saw him playing it looked like he was
grimacing in pain. And that's gonna happen when when you
get some guys who hits you or lay on you
or you you kind of land on on the wrong way.
Even with it getting numbed up, there's still gonna be
spots where it doesn't feel so good. Um. But that
being said, there's also the the element of you know

(32:35):
what justin Herbert wants to do. He's the one out
there playing, He's the one out there battling, and I'm
sure if he feels like, hey, I'm getting shot up
just to go play this game, I'm gonna finish this thing.
There's a lot of quarterbacks who feel that way and
want to try to go out and end done a
higher note if they can. It may not make sense
to people on the outside because at that you know,
at some point you know there's no chance you're gonna

(32:57):
win this this game. But it doesn't mean that you
don't want to be out there battle with the rest
of your teammates. So there's something to be said for
his leadership and I think who he is as a
person when even when the odds are stacked against him
it and it looks like they're not gonna win, he
still wants to be out there fighting with these guys.
That's cute and they're gonna and they're gonna need that too,
you know, honestly, with with everything they got going on,

(33:17):
with these injuries, you know that's they're gonna need that
type of leadership. They're gonna need that type of support.
So whether somebody liked it or not, one thing that
it comes down to when you're in new scenarios and
situations is you definitely know that the decisions that you
make are going to have a bearing and a weight
on what your job security is. So if if he

(33:39):
feels as though he did it for something that is
potentially going to impact his team positively moving forward, if
her if Herbert made the decision, was a part of
it based upon that same thought process, I don't think
there's any reason to to get up in arms about it,
because in the end, whether you are up in arms

(34:00):
about it or not, the only opinions that matter are
those are the ones that were involved in what took place,
for one, and then for two, if it doesn't, if
it doesn't pan out the way that you like for
it to pay out, I would much rather it not
panning out. Me doing it how I wanted to do it,
as a Hey coach, us doing it together as a
Hey coach and a player the way that we wanted to,

(34:23):
knowing that we gave ourselves the best opportunity and our
interpretation of it to have success as a team. By
the way, they had twenty six rushing yards in that game,
I mean that should be more of a point of
contention if you really want to protect justin Herbert, have
some balance. They're dead last in the league and rushing

(34:46):
there next to the right up there next to the
Kansas City, and their lack of just wanting to run
the football and defense is keep being like, please, we'll
give you five yards of pop, Like we will let
you run the football and get five yards of rush
if you just go ahead and run. They don't even
they don't even attempt to. It's unbelievable. Is that's pretty

(35:06):
pretty wild? Man? Yeah? They they're averaging two point six
yards of rush and then you just lost your best
offensive lineman. I mean this, Yeah, that was a that
was a bad weekend. Uh, and not only the a
f C West, but for the l A Chargers there. So,
to all of our our people listening on what does
it call Brady out here in l A. What do

(35:27):
they call it the local affiliate AM five seventy l
A Sports, our apologies for what's happening with your l
A Chargers. No one should have any type of scrutiny, criticism,
bad things to say about you doing that, because you
know what, you and Janats came together and y'all made

(35:49):
that work. You know what I mean? Like criticism right there? Man?
How about it? No, I mean win and lose with it, right,
you know what I mean, y'all made the decision. Y'all
want to lose with that. We all don't want you
to have a problem with that. Yeah, throw him, throw
him up, Brady. It is two pros and a couple
of it's uh, Brady, Quinn Jonas knocks with you here

(36:15):
all right, it's coming up next. We've got some early
trash talk in the NFL. Will get into that for you,
But for all the latest from around the world of sports,
ladies and gentlemen, two plus decades of excellence here behind
the mic, the one and only Sir Edmund and Garcia.
I haven't heard anything about those charge injuries in my house,
so I don't know what. Yeah, by the way, God, hey,

(36:39):
I'm not saying that that there was anybody on this
show that would do this, but somebody tried to say
that maybe you're the reason for all the issues healthwise
with the Chargers ants there. Yeah, that maybe maybe some
bad luck we're bringing some bad luck to the I'll
tell you is this His name begins with LaVar and
his last name begins with an that you and guess Eddie. Yeah,

(37:01):
saying that maybe Eddie Garcia, being a season ticket holder
is is bringing some bad floated that out there. I'm
gonna have to give that some thought, maybe launch an investigation.
That's uh, how does Eddie? It's every year with this team,
every year, every this goes back to San Diego, This
goes back to what does Karen do? Does she just
wait for this to happen? I mean, thankfully she doesn't

(37:23):
drink a lot, so that would be that's good. I mean,
at least Derwin James isn't injured this year. Well there's that. Yeah, please, yeah,
let's let's keep that between us. Let's out there now.
It does suck. She she's not enjoying the season so far,
and she came into this season with some high hopes.

(37:45):
But as far as it me being the problem, I don't.
I don't think I've got anything to do with it.
But I don't know. I'll give it some thought. Maybe
I need to cancel my season tickets and the charges
will will flourish. I'm sure you'd be bummed out about that.
I like going to the games that you know, that one.
That one the past weekend was not so fun. Normally
I ll go in the games. That Raider game was
kind of fun. Sorry. Uh. Week three of the NFL

(38:06):
coming to a close on Monday bed football in New
Jersey with the Cowboys beating the Giants twenty three to sixteen.
It was tied the third quarter, excuse me, the fourth
quarter thirteen apiece, and then it was quarterback Cooper Rush
hitting wide receiver Cidee Lamb with a one yard TD catch,
Lamb grabbing it with one hand after he dropped an
earlier one. But the Cowboys get that victory. Improved the

(38:27):
two and one. Cooper Rush is two and oh as
a starter this year for the Cowboys. He was twenty
one of thirty one passing two h fifteen yards with
that one touchdown no interceptions. The Giants up for their
first loss of the season, dropping to two and one
all the season. New York also losing their top wide
receiver Sterling Shepherd went down with a non contact injury.
Was clutching his left nee and carted off the field.

Thanks Eddy, two pros and a cup of Joe Here
on FS are coming up in about twelve minutes from now.
We're gonna get the results from the prop bet Monster.
We did something very specially. Monster had that We had
somebody call in and make pure. You're her behalf. You
were here, your presence was felt. By the way, did

(39:08):
you know I dropped the stick City it's a place
for reference today on the show last week? Really yeah,
they were showing it. So here's just to give you
some behind the scenes. They're like, hey, we got James
Franklin coming on next. It's like, yeah, I don't want
to talk about that, but I because I saw the
shot of James Franklin. He was walking body. He was
like signing something for a fan, but behind him had

(39:29):
this big, big sign. It said Stick City abdual Carter.
And so I got into a Stick City. It's a place.
I was like, abdual Carter, it's the special number eleven.
So it was it was kind of like one of
those segments going to break. So I'm sure it didn't
get as much love, but I was thinking of your buddy,
super dope bro. Appreciate it, Mann. Stick City is a

(39:51):
place We're gonna all visit one day. I can't wait. Yeah,
mine back are you? Yeah, it will be you, baby,
big time. Thank you. Thanks you appreciate the plug. Man.
You know, trying to trying to boost tourism. You know
what I mean. You gotta get you. I know you
love cube Bert too, and I know that's your guy,
but come on, man, don't know did you give you

(40:13):
give me a shout? Brady over there show. I did
not say anything about Joe Nads, which, by the way,
just to let Lavardo our our caller called it yesterday
to pick for LaVar did call it Jonas, just more disrespect.
It's awesome. Yeah, it's just more disrespect. But at the
same time, you kind of bring it on yourself. I

(40:35):
don't think I do. I mean, I don't want. I
don't mispronounce your names, right, I don't. I don't call
you Broner or I don't call lavarn close to I don't.
I don't do any of that. I don't think what
was LaVar is? What was that? What you say for LaVar?
He was trying to think one. He was trying to
think one. He had nothing there. He didn't that he

(40:57):
didn't think it through before he went down that road. Dude.
That's every time Jonas messes something up on live radio
because he never thinks through. I just read what's on
the prompter. I don't know what to tell you guys here.
So if it was on the prompter, then do you
you know prop? All right? So you want to hear

(41:20):
a little bit of early trash talk in the NFL.
So Tyreek Hill remember the old back and forth last
year him and Eli Apple were going out and remind
us of this because I saw the quote you're talking about.
But I want you to remind everyone of what So
Eli Apple for the Cincinnati Bengals, and when they beat
Kansas City last year, they sort of had a back

(41:42):
and forth on Twitter where he made a comment that
he would offer up his Super Bowl tickets to Tyree Hill,
and they just they're they're kind of played this out
back and forth in the media. So there's been a
couple of times that these guys have gone at it,
and Eli Apple's made him self like the topic of conversation.
I think he might have gotten beaten the Super Bowl

(42:04):
on a play or something like that, and Tyreek Hill
took to Twitter to make a comment about it. So
they've they've had it back and forth. And Tyree Hill
yesterday and he's doing this thing where he's got like
these aviator glasses on, like these almost look like professional
wrestlers from the nineteen eighties glasses on, and he's talking
to the media and when he found out that, Okay,
we've got Eli Apple and the Bengals coming up on

(42:26):
a short week this Thursday, here's what Tyreek had to say.
We play on prom time. I didn't know that Amazon
I put on Amazon prim that's gonna be lit right up.
I didn't even know that for all yeah, looking forward
to play, looking forward to the challenge. It's gonna be fine,
and okay, wait to go against Eli apple Man, I

(42:46):
owe you, boy, you I'm here, cheat is here, all right.
So let me just a couple of questions. Number One,
do you buy that he literally did not know that
they're playing on Thursday? Yeah? Okay, So I think I
think a lot of players live like one day, one
week at a time. I really do believe that three
days away he didn't know he had a game three

(43:08):
days Well for him, he just smokes on today, man, Okay,
so the bar are you buying that that he didn't
know there was a game three days away? I mean
he sounded like he was okay, um, all right. So
so there's that, And then also this, what do you
think you think something's gonna be dialed up for him
to go against Elif you think Mike pick Theangels the

(43:29):
type of coach where he's like, all right, so what
do you want to do? Do you want to just
roast him early in the game. We'll send you sixty
yards up the field, see if you can keep up
with you, Like, how do you think they work this
into the game plan to where he can be isolated
with Eli Apple one on one and try and expose
him a little bit, get a little bit of revenge.
What are we looking at here? What's the plate is?
I look like I don't think they're gonna allow that

(43:50):
to happen. I mean, Eli Apple will probably have safety help,
or you know, they'll put him in zone coverage and
play him about with a ten yard cushion. I mean,
just I don't foresee you know, the the defensive strategy
for the Bengals being like, hey, let's let's leave Eli
Apple and Tarik Kill on an island. And I just
I don't I don't foresee that being the defensive game

(44:11):
point this week. By the way, for those of you
out there that are looking to get an early start
on your degenerate ways for the upcoming week, the Miami
Dolphins are three and a half point underdogs for Thursday's
game at Cincinnati. Underdogs, undefeated team, big win over the
the Buffalo Bills this Sunday, and on the road on
a short week, they find themselves three and a half

(44:33):
point underdogs. So how are we feeling about that? We
think in Cincinnati makes it two in a row as
they continue to uh, to play rough shot on the
a f C East. Is that what we're thinking here?
I think I think they get it done against the
Miami Dolphins as well too, by three and a half, Brady,
what are we feeling here? Were leaning? Man? The Dolphins are.
That's a good football team right now. I think some

(44:54):
of it depends on to his health. You know, the
back injury and how are you you know how to
response to that, But it's it's that's a tough one
like that. One needs a little more, a little more time,
especially in the short week. Right home teams have had
a big time advantage. So there's that. Fox Sports Radio
