Oh what's going on? Everybody? Happy New Year over here?
Brian No, Jason Martin, Martin with you here on Fox
Sports Radio. Ball is on the lineup ball galore over.

(00:46):
You're probably not the time j Martin to do a
deep dive. And how great Luca don Che is playing
right now. You know, we'll save Janice resting against the
Wizards last night for another day. But it is ball
ball ball ball ball. Were brought to you by a

a TV, and more all your protection in one place.
Bundle and save at Progressive dot com you know, of
all the ball this past weekend, and there was a
lot top shelf ball with the playoff matchups. We saw
TCU moving on, Georgia moving on. The thing I loved

(01:29):
most about this entire Bowl season, Jason, was what Bryce
Young and Will Anderson Junior did at Alabama. Those Yeah,
they played the game. They played instead of opting out.
And look, this is not a you opt out you
don't have it's that's not where I'm coming from. I
think that you can love what Bryce Young and Will

(01:52):
Anderson Jr. Did without shaming all of the opt outs
at the same time. I just love that Bryce Young
and Will Anderson, whom I go one two in the
upcoming NFL Draft, they have all of these millions of
dollars coming to them and they went out there and
they were there for their guys. They went out and

(02:12):
they sat it up against Kansas State and Bryce Young
was tremendous. He's throwing five touchdown passes. He had a
tremendous day. And I just love that so much where
they looked at it and said, yeah, we know it's
a risk, but we want to be there. Will Anderson
said he would feel like a hypocrite because he's been
talking about for his teammates to go all in, like

(02:35):
be there, grind, like commit, and he would feel like
a hypocrite if he wasn't there. In the ball game,
Bryce Young said, Hey, we wanted to win a championship.
We came up a little bit short, but I just
wanted to close on a high note. I wanted to
finish what we started. I love that so much. And
I think it's often overstated just how huge of a

(02:57):
risk these players are taking with millions of dollars and
you've got a winning lottery ticket, and why would you
go out there. They're not wrestling wolverines, they're not swimming
with barracudas. They're playing football. And yes, while there is
a risk, I think the risk is often overstated. I'm
glad that they played, and I'm glad that they won,
and I'm glad that they didn't get hurt. Well, I

(03:17):
don't know if the risk is overstated, but I mean,
if you know that you're gonna be a top five
draft picked, and why I played the season at all, Like,
why would you know? Why would you do it at all?
Because there's no less risk in playing a regular season
game than there is a bowl game. The one thing
I'm just alright, Brian, most conspiracy theories are are just
that their theories. They're not true. There they can be
kind of fun from an outside perspective looking in. I

(03:40):
had a thought watching that game specifically on Saturday, and
this is I'm an Alabama fan big time, and I
felt I couldn't help but think this. The opponent for
Alabama Saturday was Kansas State. The cynic in me where
I was just like, how could you turn this into

(04:01):
a negative or or turn this into something where if
you're not an Alabama fan, if you don't like Nick
Saban for whatever reason, it is here's what you could
lean on. And this is what came to me. It's
Kansas State. We have had these examples, and we have
these discussions every year, which team wants to be in
the bowl game, Brian, which team wants to be there,

(04:22):
which one is happy to be playing in this game,
and which one feels like this is just kind of
the consolation prize to a disappointing season. And Alabama has
been accused of that at times in the past against
like a Utah or something like that, where it wasn't
what it was supposed to be, and so they kind
of showed up and it was a little bit lethargic
here and there. They started out kind of slow and

(04:44):
then they were unreal. And Bryce Young with his five
touchdowns and just an extraordinary performance from an extraordinary young man.
You mentioned Will Anderson. Will Anderson has the highest character.
His g p A was off the charts. Everything about
him is a plus. But Kansas State. The last time
we saw Kansas State, they beat TCU. What did we

(05:06):
hear the morning of and the night before the playoffs
semifinal matchups were set, we heard Nick Saban making the
case for Alabama based on we had two losses. They
were both on the final play both on the road,
both against pretty solid teams, obviously in l s U
and Tennessee. Because TCU lost to Kansas State, and there

(05:30):
was some argument out there as to whether Alabama should
have been there, at least from some circles. Not me.
I felt like Tennessee should have been in over Alabama
if it came down to that. That mix, but the
spiteful side, the conspiracy theory, and me says because of that,
they wanted to throttle Kansas State. Everybody played, everybody opted

(05:51):
in for Alabama. They wanted to throttle Kansas State so
they could then say, we told you we should have
been in the playoff. We told you we were one
of the four best teams in the country. Assuming as
many people did that, TCU was then gonna lose to Michigan.
And then you had this argument, Like I said, it's
a conspiracy theory, but I had fun rattling around in

(06:13):
my brain that they were out there almost spitefully wanting
to make an example of Kansas State in order to
butcheress the decision the committee did not make to put
them in the interesting I like the conspiracy theory. I
think they just wanted to end on a high note
with you. I just wanted to be negative for the

(06:34):
reason I just I had fun throwing it around him, like,
how could you turn this this awesome moment with Bryce
Young and Will Anderson decided to play and everything, how
could you make it negative? And especially because it's Alabama,
the conspiracy theories are always gonna be rampants like, ah,
it's because they were doing it out of spite. That's
the answer there. It is. I just look at the

(06:55):
Alabama quarterback Bryce Young and Will Anderson playing and look,
I get it. I understand that they stand to earn
a lot of money when they are drafted in the
NFL and by playing in the game. Yeah, they're risking
some money should they get hurt. They might be risking
a lot of money should they get hurt. I think
that's often overstated because this would have to be a

(07:18):
catastrophic injury for their stock to just plummet. If you
look at Jamison Williams, their teammate last season, right in
the National Championship Game he towards a c L against Georgia,
he was still the twelfth overall pick. Did his stock
just plummet out of No No that col game last year?

(07:39):
I don't know where he was gonna end up being drafted,
but it certainly didn't help Matt corral to have that
injury leading into the draft, because at least at times
last year he was being talked around, you know, like
a first round pick, where of course only pick it
ended up being a guy. Yeah, I think he would
have gotten drafted around the same area. I don't think
the the ankle injury had much to do with the

(08:00):
his draft stock it'd be like Bryce Young, ask yourself this,
if Bryce Young, and thankfully we can talk about this
because he didn't get hurt against Kansas State, but if
he tore his A c L, how far do you
really think he drops in the NFL draft, Like honestly, yeah,
I mean Bryce's size is the only thing that you
would possibly be able to knock him on. Like I

(08:21):
I just think he's just stud through and grew, especially
with how much Alabama needed him to be good all
the time. Him and Kayla Williams had that going for
them in a way that I don't think any other
quarterback in the country did, where they had to produce constantly,
and this year Bryce had to do it with a
little bit less actually a lot less than he was
used to from his skill talent guys, he had such

(08:42):
young players around him. I don't think it would affect
as much because Bryce Young hasn't been hurt over and
over through his career. Like if you remember to a
got hurting back to back seasons, yes, and he still
went fifth overall, he had a hip injuries all jacked
up like, and I don't think his stock plummeted much
at all. I think Burrow, Well, listen, if to it

(09:03):
didn't get hurt at all. Maybe maybe there's an argument
that he goes number one overall, but he slipped to
fifth overall, And yes, that's millions of dollars, but I
think it's often overstated, like, oh my gosh, why would
you go out there and juggle knives and you know,
dynamite at the same time by playing a football game.
It's just over the top, man. And the other part

(09:25):
of this is with Bryce Young and Will Anderson playing
like I get that there is a lot of money
at stake and that matters, but that is not the
only reason you play football. And yeah, you can sound
the harps and the field good music in the background.
But this is freaking true. When you look back at
your career, if you were fortunate enough to play in

(09:48):
major college football or play in the NFL, do you
think all these retired guys just flashback to the money
they earned. That's it. They don't have any other memories.
They don't think about games are being in the huddle
or their team, and they just think about the cash.
And the cash alone that is such bs And so
this idea that it's only about the money and that's

(10:10):
what these discussions turned into. How could they even think
about going out there and playing. It's like, dude, wake up,
are you serious? They want to be out there one
final time with their teammates doing what they love to do.
There's nothing wrong with that. And I guarantee you there
are many former football players that would give a lot

(10:32):
just to go back one time and have one more
game in college and Bryce Young and Will Anderson were
able to do that. So for them to be like
why would they make this poor business decisions? I just
hate those discussions so much. Man. You see, it's not
look either way. Everybody can shut up right, Like, I

(10:53):
think that's that's the thing, Like all these things can
be true. Bryce Young and Will Anderson can play and
we can be happy about that. Matt Corral can play,
and even though he got hurt, we can be happy
about the decision that he made for himself. Because everybody
is individual and they can do what they think. You
get exactly one opportunity to play college football. You get
one opportunity, and if you're blessed enough to have four

(11:16):
years doing it, great, If you you have two years,
maybe you have one year as to start or whatever.
It is you make that choice. I wouldn't imagine mar
Chase sat out. I wasn't mad that Christian McCaffrey didn't
play in his bowl game. I wasn't upset that Jackson
Smith and Jigma decided I'm gonna get ready for the
NFL draft, I'm not gonna play in a college football playoff.
These are young men who are making decisions about their future.

(11:37):
They're also making decisions about their present, and they're looking
at what joy can I experience here? How do I
have to look at this? Some people look at it
for money, some people kind of balance it, and some
people had a wonderful college experience and they want to
go out on a high note. All of these things
spoiler alert are fine. It's the opinions on the extremes

(11:59):
of both sides that are incredibly tiresome. Like, you do
whatever it is that you want to do in that situation,
But don't expect me to be angry about something that
a one year old kid, you know, decides he's gonna
play or he's not gonna play. Those factors are up
to him and his family and whoever else is in

(12:20):
that decision making process. It's not up to us to
scrutinize and then also armchair quarterback. If somebody gets hurt,
doesn't get hurt. Look, they're making these decisions. I hated
what happened to Matt Corral, but he was able to
make the decision he wanted to make to play for
Lane Kiffin and play for Old Miss one more time.
And the same thing with Briace Young and Will Anderson,

(12:41):
who didn't get injured thankfully over the weekend. I just
think that we don't need to be handwringing either way.
We don't need to be clutching pearls either way. We
need to let people make their own decisions. Yeah, hey,
that's fine with me. And like I'll take Notre Dame,
for instance, Michael Mayor the tight end, and Isaiah Foski,
who is a you know, a rush end. They didn't

(13:02):
play in the bowl game against South Carolina. That's fine.
I get it. They've worked really, really hard to put
themselves in a position to get drafted in the NFL
and they don't want to go out there and take
a risk with a significant injury. That's fine, I get it.
No problem. So I wouldn't crush a kid for deciding
to enter the NFL Draft and forego the bowl game.

(13:24):
And I wouldn't do that. I don't love it, I'll
be honest with you, but I certainly understand it, and
I certainly wouldn't vilify anybody for making that decision. What
I get upset about is for anybody like Bryce Young
and Will Anderson Jr. Who were there for their guys
and wanted one last college memory, and it was a
great one. Bryce Young balled out, he was outstanding. I

(13:46):
just hate this. Why would they do it? It's stupid.
I think it's stupid to say it's stupid to go
out there and play, right, That's what I'm really raging about.
But no, I would not sit there and be like,
how can Michael Mayor not get out there with this
teammates and play against South Carolina. I think that's just
silly to do. So I agree. I mean, I just
I think that's it. I think that's well said. It's

(14:09):
stupid to be angry about it. It It really is, like
and it's it's the easiest thing in the world. If
they get hurt to then be like, shouldn't have played?
But no, No, the result doesn't necessarily dictate the decision
should have changed. I asked Arnie Spanier about this because
he had he had argued for weeks that Alabama should
have been in over TCU. So TCU wins the game

(14:29):
on Saturday, and I asked Arnie, I'm like, do you
still believe that? And he said, look, TCU was a
better team today, blah blah blah all this, and I
thought in my head, I was just like, if you
argued before the fact that Alabama should have been been
in over TCU, I can disagree with you, and in
fact I do disagree with you, but the result of
the game doesn't negate the opinion. Originally, like, it's still

(14:54):
true that you believe that the fact that they got
an opportunity. Anybody can go win a football game. Anybody
when given an opportunity, it is feasible for them to
go out and actually win the game. Ohio State maybe
didn't deserve the opportunity, but you gave him a second chance,
and they had a lot of talent and they probably
should have beaten Georgia when you actually look at how
that game was playing out before Marvin Harrison Jr. Got injured.

(15:18):
Both these things are accurate, like the original opinion doesn't
negate anything. The fact that Bryce Young and Will Anderson
didn't get hurt doesn't make it more true that they
should have played, just as if they gotten If they
had gotten injured, you can't then go back and be
revisionist history armchair quarterback hindsight is twenty guy. That's not impressive.
That's not impressive analysis. I'm glad they played because I'm

(15:42):
glad we got to watch those two guys play again.
I can't wait to watch them in the NFL. I'm
glad they didn't get hurt. Had they gotten hurt, I
still would have said I'm glad they were able to
make the decision they felt was right for them. Yeah, hey, no,
I hear you. It's a it's a little bit like
this happens in the n C Double A tournament quite
a bit. There's a team that maybe sneaks in, the

(16:03):
last team in, and they go on a run and
then people are like, well, it proves they should have
been in there. It's like, bro, their resume didn't change
for that year with Shakra Smart having to win the
playing game, and people were just like VCU over insert
Power five team or whatever here, major conference team here.

(16:25):
The fact that they got there doesn't negate the argument
you made originally. Once you get an opportunity, you have
the opportunity to shut everyone else's mouth. Yeah, that's the
way it goes. Hey, we got a lot to do
coming up next. The NFL Playoffs are right around the corner.
Who's your surprise team, who you have as a dark
horse that you think could make some noise and sneak

(16:46):
up on some folks. We'll get to that right around
the corner. I'm Brian No, he's Jason Martin. Were in

By the way, We've got a lot of ball to
talk about here, Jason, but I can't help but mention this. Uh.

(18:55):
I caught part of Chris Cornell's interview with with Howard
Stern and he talked about writing black Hole Sun. I
think he was just driving and he came up with
the melody and everything just in his head. It's like,
that's pretty impressive. And he wasn't around an instrument that
around a guitar, be had nothing. He just came up

(19:18):
with the melody in his head and then ran back
and wrote stuff down and and then eventually recorded that song.
That's crazy man, Rust in peace to Chris Cornell. I
don't think people appreciate just how special a vocal talent
Chris Cornell actually was like, if you actually listened to
the record scream that he did after sound Guard and

(19:39):
obviously sound Guard and Simple of Dog, all that stuff
is all time classic, great, great music. But his vocal
range absolutely unworld like, otherworldly, like we lost a giant.
I mean, I know obviously he he was going through
a lot of emotional distress and it's just it's a
shame and a lot of these things happen and you

(20:00):
just realize that money can't buy happiness and nothing really can.
And but man, Chris Cornell was so talented, he really
was vocalist. I don't think people appreciate enough just how
great he was. I love that Temple of the Dog album.
It's so good. Yeah. The only hit song was Hunger Strike,
and that was the only one that remind me the

(20:24):
Pearl Jams singer Eddi Vetter. That was the only song.
That's the only song any Vetter was on. The rest
of it was just Chris Cornell And those are some
great songs. Say Hello to Heaven. Yeah, yeah, it's a
it's a terrific record. Like if you want to go
back into the nineties and really experienced what it was
like at my age, that was my that was my
bread and butter. I still listen to nineties music pretty

(20:46):
much all the time. And that Temple of the Dog
album shouldn't have been as good as it was because
it was two. It was a supergroup. It was guys
getting together that probably wasn't gonna stick around. It was
a one and done thing. It is a gem, Folks,
Spotify it. Whatever it is you need to do, check
out that Temple of the Dog record. You will be
glad you did. Yeah, absolutely, Okay. As we look forward

(21:09):
to the NFL playoffs, here, Jason, I think that I
might have found the Bengals of last season this season
like this season's I'm curious to see if I'm right.
I'm curious if if you want to unveil who you
think it is, who you think I would think it
is Jacksonville. I'm going to go in a different direction.

(21:30):
I think it is the Chargers. I think the Chargers
could go into Bengals like run over here because think
about this, what's similar. Well, they have a real pass rush.
Joey Bosa was back on the field against the Rams yesterday.
He's back from groin surgery. So you have Joey Bosa
and Khalil Mack. That's a great one to combo right there.

(21:53):
So you can put heat on the obosan quarterback, that's
a big deal. You've got Justin Herbert, who's a young gun,
very similar to Joe Burrow. Right, I could see Herbert
leading a playoff run here and then you also look
at the passing game. Look at the weapons around Joe Burrow.
Look at the weapons around uh Justin Herbert. Now that
he has Mike Williams back, Keenan Allen back, You've got

(22:17):
uh Austin Ekeler out of the backfield. I don't love
the Chargers offensive line. I don't love their running game.
Look at the Bengals offensive life was nothing but a
sack fest last postseason. They still were winning games left
and right. I think the Chargers could make major noise
come playoff time. Now, they could go Charger and make

(22:37):
me look stupid. But they could sneak up on YouTube
because we know the Chargers have screwed up time and
time and time again. The Bengals hadn't won a playoff
game in three decades. They were doing nothing but screwing up.
Yet they put it together one three games in a
row and route to the Super Bowl. Almost one. The
whole freaking thing yesterday came uh. Last year came an
eyelash away from winning it all. I think I think

(23:00):
the Chargers could make some major noise when we get
to the playoffs. Here, Jason, see, here's why I would
take Jacksonville in the comparison. I've actually compared him to
the Bengals multiple times this season or last year's Bengals.
I had the Chargers in the Super Bowl before the year,
I had the Chargers Rams as my super Bowl. Well,
Rams are gonna make it, Chargers will see. I don't.
I don't know. I don't feel it's good about them now.

(23:22):
I feel like they will probably get beat. But I
already knew Justin Herbert was good, and I knew they
had weapons, and I wasn't sure about the coach. And
I think maybe you could you could still point to that.
But you think about this last year before the season,
we're not talking about since like we're excited about. But
Jamaar Chase was the discussion of the off season about

(23:43):
Jamaar Chase before last season was, Oh, he can't catch
the football because it doesn't have white lines on it anymore,
and why didn't they draft but they sell yeah, exactly,
and then nobody knows what is Zach Taylor is like,
we're not talking about them at all. They're off the radar.
The Bengals hadn't been on the radar in a while,

(24:03):
and so you look at Jacksonville, that's the worst situation
somebody could possibly have inherited, outside of the fact that
you had a generational quarterback. But the Urban Meyers scenario,
nobody had Jacksonville. It was all about Tennessee. In Indianapolis,
it was who's gonna win the South between the Titans,
who have pretty much run the division for the last
few years under maybe the best coach in the NFL,

(24:24):
or certainly one of them. And then Indianapolis and Indie
fell on their face very quickly. They fired their coach,
Tennessee's fired their general manager. They're gonna have to beat
Jacksonville to get in. Trevor became Trevor Travis e t
n proved. Okay, maybe that was a pretty solid draft pick.
They've turned receivers kind of out of nowhere, guys that

(24:45):
that you weren't expecting to be what they've turned out
to be. Their offensive line is still a work in progress.
Their defenses in all world, but they've been playing better
down the stretch. I think that's why I compared Jacksonville
to Cincinnati, because it's a very come out of nowhere situation.
But Burrow was the number one pick. You loved him

(25:06):
coming out of l s U. Trevor Lawrence was being
talked about as one of the three to four, you know,
best quarterback prospects entering the draft in thirty forty years.
So I think that's where That's why I think Jacksonville
fits the bill a little bit better than the Chargers
because I expect it, as did many the Chargers, to
be here because they had a top five on paper

(25:26):
roster in the league. Yeah, listen, if you go back
to the beginning of the season, I do like the
comparison because what two years ago the Bengals were four,
eleven and one and then they ended up in the
Super Bowl last season. You look at Jacksonville last season,
there were three and fourteen. Here they are on the
cusp of a playoff spot. So yes, if you rewind

(25:49):
to the beginning of the season, Jacksonville is a better
Bengals comparison than the Chargers are. I think just heading
into the playoffs, I still like the Chargers comparison to
the Angles last season for all the things that I
mentioned there. But we'll see how it shakes out. Man.
I do like what you're thinking with Jacksonville. I like
your point about the Chargers because I do think the
Chargers have the higher ceiling this year. Like if you

(26:11):
want to look at it from the Bengals can make
the Super Bowl like they did last year. Absolutely the
answer is the Chargers. I think the overall story, if
you're looking at the entire book, Jacksonville is a little
bit closer. I thought they were gonna be better because
I love the Doug Peterson higher but better. I thought
that meant five wins, They're gonna have gradual improvements. Nobody

(26:32):
saw Za Jones and Christian Kirk and these guys doing this.
Like the fact that they're five hundred with a chance
to get into the playoffs, that's in their own hands.
All they have to do is win a football game
in order to do it. That to me that that's very,
very impressive as a story. Even though absolutely I think
the Chargers of the team of the two that could

(26:54):
potentially make a Super Bowl run. You know, I'll give
you a nugget coming up next from the last two
UH Super Bowl champions and it's comparable to what happened
with the Chargers this season. Um first, though, let's send
it off to our man, big man keV over here.
We'll go with U. I gotta work on the nickname

(27:15):
over here, keV. You know, I mean whatever you want?
What do your friends call you? Kevin? K Dub dub
k dub with the latest LA has got a little
more pizzaz that way. That's how I like it. Blue
extra kick ready to go nice. Speaking of kick, we
had a big day of action in the NFL on
a Sunday. The Steelers keep their postseason hopes alive. They

(27:40):
beat the Ravens sixteen thirteen on a go ahead touchdown
with just fifty six seconds to go. Pick it in there,
Gun gets the snap, he looks chased out of the pocket,
steps out of the tackle the line, touch down Rogie
Harris Ji from tanyards out and pick it d. That

(28:01):
Nazi Harris touchdown with fifty six seconds ago seals the
win for Pittsburgh. That was the Pittsburgh Steelers Radio network
there with the call. The forty Niners trailed by double
digits to the Raiders in the second half, they were
down by ten, but they're able to force overtime. A
fifty six yard interception returned by Tayshawn Gibson in overtime
set up the game winning field goal as Niners win

(28:24):
at thirty seven thirty four. They have now won nine
straight games. The Eagles had a chance to seal everything
up yesterday, whether it was the division, the top seed
in the NFC, the first round by that comes with
being the top seed in the conference, and the only
thing standing in their way was the New Orleans Saints.
They had just six wins entering yesterday's game, but the Eagles,
with Gardner Minshew in for Jalen Hurts, played one of

(28:46):
the worst offensive games of the season. They had just
three plays in the first quarter, two first downs in
the first half, and did not score any points until
the third quarter, end up losing it twenty to ten.
The Packers where they blow win over the Vikings seventeen,
and again it wasn't even that close. The Vikings got
too garbage time touchdowns towards the end. It was such

(29:08):
a blowout for Minnesota that JayR Alexander broke up a
pass intendant for Justin Jefferson. It did the gritty dance.
That's is how well things were going for Green Bay,
and what seemed unthinkable a few weeks ago has come
to fruition. If the Backers can beat the Lions next week,
they're in the playoffs. No if sands or buts about.
It doesn't matter what any else does. If the Packers

(29:28):
beat the Lions next week, they are in. They had
just a one percent chance of making the playoffs a
couple of weeks ago, at twelve and four. The Vikings
have been outscored by their opponents by nineteen points this season.
The Giants had a win in in game against the
Colts on Sunday, and they end up taking care of
business ten to make the playoffs for the first time

(29:50):
since Daniel Jones. He looked like Danny Dimes on Sunday,
four total touchdowns, two passing and two rushing. The bucket
years when the NFC South. After they come back to
beat the Panthers thirty to twenty four, the Seahawks still
alive for the postseason. They beat the Jets three six,
and with that loss, New York has been officially eliminated

(30:11):
from the playoffs. Lions, Meat the Bears forty one ten.
Detroit still has a mathematical chance to make the postseason.
Chiefs hold off the Broncos, Patriots over the Dolphins one,
Chargers beat the ram one ten Jaguars with a huge
win over the Texas thirty one three, and the Browns
beat the Washington Commanders ten and In college football, got

(30:32):
some bowl action coming for you. Beginning the day at
noon Eastern will be the relian Quest Bowl between Mississippi
State and Illinois. Will be the first game for the
Bulldogs since the passing of head coach Mike Leach. In
the cotton ball that will get going. At one o'clock
it'll be two Lane in USC and the granddaddy of
them all. At five o'clock Eastern, it'll be the Rose
Bowl between Utah and Penn State. Back to you guys,

(30:55):
thanks Ka dub Brian No and Jason Martin. Here two
bro is in a cup of Joe Fox Sports Radio.

(31:17):
because we're short on time, j Mart, and we'll move
it along to some meltdowns over here. But I was
just looking at this kind of interesting. So two years ago,
when Tampa won the Super Bowl, in weeks nine through twelve,
they hit a lull. They lost three or four games,
and then they went on their tear right afterward. Uh.

(31:37):
If you look last season with the Rams, weeks nine
through twelve, they hit a lull, They lost all three
games that they played, and they had a bye week
sandwiched in there. If you look at the Chargers a
little bit different, but weeks ten through thirteen, almost the
same span, they lost three or four games and they

(31:58):
kind of fell off the radar at that stage. Since then,
they've rattled out four straight wins. They're hitting their stride.
I don't know, I don't know. It's just it's comparable
to the last two Super Bowl champions when they hit
their lull about the midway part during the season. So you're,
all right, so which team are you comparing right now?
Which team you're thinking kind of fits that bill? The

(32:19):
Chargers right now hit their lull very similar to the
last two Super Bowl champs. Yeah, okay, so, and we
spent a good bit of time talking about the Chargers.
I think I think it comes down to this. You
know how good Justin Herbert is. We we are well
aware of that. We know Keenan Allen to me has
been the most underappreciated great wide receiver of the past
decade in the NFL, year after year, and the only

(32:42):
problem that really has dogged him a lot is being available.
He's been hurt a good bit throughout his career, but
when he's out there, he's a flat out stud. Heckler
can get the job done for you. You have playmakers
on defense, some that you pay big money to that
have not lived up to the billing, but are capable
of living up to the building. I think it comes

(33:02):
down to this for the Chargers, is Brandon Staway up
to the task? We'll see man and into these games?
What decisions is he going to make? And is he
gonna put his team in scenarios to win or scenarios
where they are handcuffed by their own head coach? Like
that's gonna be it. They've got the talent to be

(33:24):
dangerous against anybody that they faced. And when you've got
that quarterback, You've always got a chance. That's the same
thing with Buffalo, That's the same thing with Kansas City,
that's the same thing with Cincinnati. And look, even though
they're old, you've still got a shot. When you've got
Aaron Rodgers and you've got Tom Brady playing quarterback for you.
All those things are true. Their cheat codes and there's
not a whole lot of cheat codes in this league,

(33:45):
but those guys are all cheat codes at the quarterback spot.
The reason I don't trust Dallas is because I still
don't fully trust Mike McCarthy. And the reason why I'm
at least skeptical right now about what we're seeing from
the Chargers is because this is what their talent dictates.
Is their coach going to be out of the way
enough for them to achieve No, I get that, but
it's very similar to the Bengals also, who was waxing

(34:07):
poetic about their head coach before, how many bad decisions
had he made that we had to then crucify him
about the next day. Stawey has had moments where you've
looked at him. Anthony Lynn lost his job with the
Chargers because of late game situations and special teams, and
Brandon Stawey has had the exact same problem if he
can be more Zach Taylor ish. Where if you don't

(34:30):
know who Brandon Stawey is, I think that's fine. That
means the team's probably playing pretty well at this point,
because again, you know what the talent is a lot
of people didn't know who Zach Taylor was, but we
didn't know him for the wrong things. If that makes sense, Yeah,
I mean I get it. But enough of them? All right,
we only have like a minute here, so this will
be good for me because I wanted to talk about meltdowns.

(34:53):
We talked about the comeback stories Packers, right, the Packers
coming up, the Steelers coming back from a terrible three
and seven start. The Patriots now control their playoff path
with which is crazy. The meltdowns though, how about my
Miami Dolphins. Are you kidding? They've lost five straight? They
were eight and three. J Mart, they were an eight

(35:15):
and three football team. That feels like it was years ago.
It doesn't even feel like it was this season. And
also same division the Jets. The Jets had a good start,
they were six and three. They've lost six of seven
and they scored six points yesterday against the Seahawks. So
a couple of teams in the a f C East
just going right down the drain here this season. Yeah, Well,

(35:38):
the biggest problem with the Dolphins is, well, there's two problems. One,
I mean two has been heard a few times, which
was always my fear with him coming out of college.
But the other thing is, man, Bridgewater just can't stay
on the field. He just can't. Like this is multiple
times this year where he's been asked to go out
there and he's not been able to finish that game.
But I just think when you go back you really

(36:00):
look at Miami the way they started the season and
the weaponry that they had, you liked it. But their
five game win streak, Man, when you really go back
and look at that before this five game losing streak,
what's the difference between these two runs Pittsburgh, Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland, Houston,
San Francisco Chargers, Bills, Packers, Patriots. Yeah, there's a significant

(36:21):
difference in those ten games between the first five that
I mentioned and the second five. And if you don't
have a stud quarterback that's really firing on all cylinders
in that second five, you're gonna get beat and that's
exactly what's happened. Yeah, yeah, and uh, similar with the Jets.
You know, that's absolutely right. They don't have a quarterback.
They have, but they don't have a quarterback. We got

(36:43):
all excited. It just shows how bad they are at
QB because a lot of people got all excited that
Mike White played great against the Bears. Okay, like that,
like just put that in perspective for like, they got
all excited. Look at Mike Effett White, Look at them.
It was against the bare horrible weather, and that was yeah,

(37:03):
it was nice and horrible weather. But man, it just
shows you how it's like you're just starving and someone
gave you some ramen noodles and you're like, this is
the most amazing meal ever of all time. It's like
it's good. It's just it's not what you're making it
out to be. So yeah, when you're struggling at QB,
it'll eventually show up. Hey, we still have more to

(37:24):
go coming up next. We got to look forward here.
It might be the game of the season so far,
and this for sure is the game of the season.
Both of those breakdowns coming up right around the corner.

before we get on out of here. Huge matchup tonight
Man Bills Bengals playoff seating on the line. Bills have

(39:38):
the inside track to the one seed. Do you think
they still have the inside track to the one seed
after this evening? Yeah, that's a really good question. These
are two seams. Look, Joe Mixon said a couple of
days ago. This is putting it out there. Look, Jaire
Alexander talked a lot and then backed it up against
Justin Jefferson. But Joe Mixon came out and said were

(40:00):
the big dogs in the a f C. That's just
how it is. Yeah, that is bold talk. And here's
the thing, he might not be wrong. I mean, they
are the defending representatives, defending a f C champions, and
they got this game at home and they are rolling.
Nobody is hotter in this league than they are. Buffalo
might be might have the best roster in the league.

(40:21):
You know what, I'm taking home team tonight. I just
I like what I'm seeing from Cincinnati. I think Cincinnati
is gonna keep it rolling. I'll pick the Bengals here,
even though I'd easily be wrong. I just want to
watch this game. I think it's gonna be great. Yeah, yeah,
I'm with you on this. I like the home team
as well. I like the Bengals. And it also just
seems like this is the way it works out for

(40:42):
the Chiefs, right Like the Bills go down and all
of a sudden, the Chiefs have the inside track to
the one seed. That's how it feels to me. But
I like that With Joe Mixon saying that Joe Burrow
was saying that last year where he's like, hey, get
used to this when they were winning playoff games like
this is an unexpected we expect to win, like this

(41:03):
is what we do. So they've had this belief before
other people had the same belief for them. How about
the National Championship game. We'll get into this as the
week goes along, But first glance, TCU thirteen and a
half point dogs against Georgia. That sound right to you.
I mean I understand it, and yeah, I guess it

(41:23):
does sound right. But man, that is a tough one
to look at when you look at the last two games.
Georgia's given up thirty plus points to l s U
and then certainly on Saturday to Ohio State. Max Duggan
is really good and they might have one of the
top three wide receivers in the country at TCU, And
it looks like the secondary can't stop anybody right now
for Georgia. So I don't know, man, TCU just keeps

(41:43):
on defying the odds. I'm gonna take Georgia, I understand it,
but man, yeah, I love the total sixty two and
a half. It's like they might get that in the
first quarter, right, like that after those playoff games, have
a fun morning,
