Speaker 1 (00:01):
Is the best of two pros and a couple of
Joe with Lamar Areas, Rady Quinn and Jonas Knocks on radio.
So the big conversation is what we saw last night
in Tampa between the Bucks and the Cowboys. It was
all Dallas despite missing four extra points in a row,
(00:24):
which was just impressive to watch through and through, and
when he did come out, Brett Maher to make the
fifth one. Of course ESPN missed that one, so that
the job well done by on their parts, but uh,
the Dallas Cowboys get it done there. It's like, come on, man,
that's like a big story of the game, and they
missed that. It might have been the biggest story of
the game because outside of Tampa getting their butts kicked,
(00:46):
there wasn't much else to talk about. I mean, I
mean literally it was the story. Every single time there's
a momentum and a touchdown, there was wide right, wide
right hooked it. I mean it got bad. I mean
it was bad to the point where you're like, I
feel bad for him, and then hitting upright as well too,
So there was that, yeah, got jointed. But uh, then
(01:12):
the conversation becomes as Tom Brady is finishing off just
a terrible performance for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And it's
always good when you know he's what forty five years
old and he's throwing sixty six times in a playoff game.
That's probably an indication that the run game isn't producing
all that much. But Tom Brady went to the media
(01:33):
afterwards had a conversation with them about what he plans
to do in the future. And then also it was
very respectful at the end on the back end of
this comment from Tom Brady as he thanked the local
media in Tampa Bay, what is your process from here
when you start to think about what you want to
do next. I'm gonna go ahead and get a good
night's sleep as because as I can tonight, and this
(01:54):
has been a lot of focus on, you know, this game,
So let's just be one day to I just want
to say thank you guys for everything this year. I
really appreciate all your effort, and I know it's hard
for you guys too. It's hard for us players to
make it through and you guys got a tough job
and I appreciate all that you guys do to cover
us and everyone who watches and a big fan of
the sport. We're very grateful for everyone's support and um,
(02:17):
you know, hopefully, um you know, I love this organization.
It's a great place to be And thank you everybody
for welcome to me, all your regulars, and just very
grateful for the respect. And I hope I gave the
same thing back to you guys, So thank you very much,
appreciate it. All Right, So what, so what's next? Is
he retiring? Is he going to Vegas? There's been a
(02:39):
lot of rumors out there. What do we think? I
just Okay, if the one thing holding him back from
continuing to play was Gizell, that doesn't seem to be
an issue anymore. So, I mean I think that opens
it up to, yeah, that there's wild speculation of where
he may be next year. Could he reunite with Josh
(03:02):
McDaniels and Burns, Um maybe, I mean it would make
some sense. That would definitely be a possible Lantic spot.
Outside of that, I honestly don't know because I'm not
sure like where else he views as a potential contender.
I mean, if he goes to the Las Vegas Raiders,
look at that division, Oh my god, awesome. Maybe awesome,
(03:24):
But it was like, you don't want that? Is that
your pastor with a Super Bowl? You don't want that
in your future? You don't think You don't think Tom Brady,
Davante Adams and Josh Jacobs if they bring him back,
and Herbert justin Herbert and who else? And Russell Wilson.
(03:47):
Oh never mind. I mean, at least two that's the
most star studded quarterback division in the history of the
league if he goes to Vegas. But why would you
want You've got You've got? Would you say three Hall
of Famers if not potentially a fourth? All right? But
why not take the money from New York? Then you
(04:11):
get to play against the Patriots twice a year and
you're in a major media market. Why not finish out
New York? What he said, He's gonna pay the money
for a high profile quarterback. You you For some strange reason,
I feel Jets fans have hated it for so long
to see them turned around and be like, yeah, now
(04:32):
we like Tom. Like it's such a Jets fan move.
I mean, if you're saying you're trying to salvage Zack
Zack Wilson, who better to bring in to be a
part of that maturation process. Then tom Brady, if that's
what you're thinking, like, oh, he doesn't have a whole
lot of time left anyway, that time you you can
(04:56):
clearly justify the Zach like, looks, Zach, what you didn't play? Well,
we're gonna bring him in. You're gonna learn from him,
and if it's good enough, you're going to play again.
If it's not, then we'll go in a different direction.
By then. I don't think tom Brady cares about I
don't either. I don't either, but you do know the
infatuation trying to hook up with moms. That's a good point.
(05:20):
I mean, to get the top break of somewhere. With that,
Tom Brady could have a contemporary with him, And that's
what I was about to say that, Well there you go.
Or they could be yeah, well yeah, I mean they
could do that. They can hang out together. They would
be fishing in the same lake or same pond or ocean,
and that's always fun. I mean, why not. Yeah, they're
(05:41):
both good looking guys. I mean, that's not going to lose.
He hasn't played well, but he's not going to lose
A bad a good looking contest. You know, he's still
got that. He's got that, so I mean, why not
let him learn? So go now there's been there. We
has to learn off the field before he learns on
the field. I mean, you got it. I mean he
brought a B into the house, right, They tried to
(06:03):
teach a B and that went well. Ab wasn't willing
to learn. Yeah, he was trying to show him a B.
A B Chase Kanye. He chose Kanye over Tom as
he digs a tunnel under his house to escape cops.
But again that's uh, everybody's got their own personal life.
(06:23):
They gotta attend to. So Tom Brady the options on
the table our retirement. He did look a little old
running off the field, though, It's like he aged in
that game, like at least two years he's yeah, but
I feel like he aged to like forty seven. Do
you think that You think that one sped up the
(06:43):
process sped it up. That pressure, all that pressure that
was on him that day was bringing that think it
aged him a little bit, man. So he's gonna be
forty six next season if he comes back. So the
options on the table, our retirement go back to the Bucks.
The Raiders, Miami, the Dolphins, who else? Who else to
(07:06):
makes sense for him? I just told you, like, okay,
but the Jets, all right, so the Jets will put
on the tail. I just I don't think that. I
don't think that. Why not? I don't think there's enough
bad blood there for him to want to go back,
and and he dislikes the Patriots that much and he
wants to go be a Jet. I just problem what
the what the Jets is? You can't like if they
bring in a legit veteran, whether it's Tom Brady, Derek Carr,
(07:30):
name your veteran that's coming in to win games for them,
that means it's over with Zach Wilson, like just because
he's under contract for another couple of years, because then
you have to pick up your face fifth year option
or decide on that after this upcoming season. Well, last
time you saw him, he didn't look good. That's why
you brought in the veteran and they didn't play all year,
(07:51):
So what would make you want to pick up a
fifth year option on the dude like that? And then
if that veterans there, like a Derek Carr, he's still playing.
He's not just coming there for one year and being
one and if it's tom Brady, I don't know. I mean,
he's still putting up good numbers in that team with
that with the talent they have, I mean, he could
play another couple of years. I mean, I know he
might be moving a little slower, but they can run
(08:14):
the football, They've got talented receivers to throw too, They've
got a great defense. I mean, it's but but the
same question would still be out there, like do you
have to want to go up against the Bills every
you know, twice a year. That's the top team in
that division right now. I'd rather take my chances on
in there than in the a f C West. Yeah,
(08:35):
I would agree with that. I just I don't know that.
You know, if you're going to New York and you're
making it more about the market you're going to that
it's really not about football, And that just doesn't strike
me as like tom Brady. Tom Brady seems like he's
all about I think that they're good enough to win. No, no,
I'm not saying they're not, but I'm saying that the
reason you're going is it has to be about football.
(08:56):
It can't be like Oh, it's New York to like that.
That can't be part of the the reason they the
rational needs to be I'm going to the Jets because
I think they can win a super Bowl, and I
think that's a that's a tough spot. I agree, I agree,
I agree to a certain extent in the sense that, yes,
it is has to be about winning at this point,
(09:16):
all about winning. But if I can have they if
I could have the opportunity, if I go to the Bills,
I mean, excuse me, if I go to the Dolphins,
like we nate the other teams was the Dolphins the Raiders.
If if I'm choosing between those teams, why wouldn't I
take a serious look at at the Jets If I
got to look at the Raiders. That's not said he's
(09:40):
not gonna look at it seriously, Okay, I'm just saying.
I'm saying, the only reason you're you should be looking
at these teams if you're him, it's nothing other than football.
And and that would be the one team that I
would say, out of the teams that would be available,
would have the best time, You'd have the best path
to try and to get to a Super Bowl, Right,
I mean well, I he could. He could jump on
(10:01):
an FC South dam and win the division right quick.
I mean, I know the Jaguars one, but I don't know.
I also think the other team that's been thrown in
the mix and speculated about, which is starting to slip away,
is the Niners. And that's his the team he rooted
for as a kid. It's the Kyle Shannahan stuff. There's
(10:22):
been some rumors out there with all that, but the
more that brock Purty wins playoff games, the less likely
it is that they're going to be in the market
for really Still, you start to really see the brilliance
of play calling and play design, and I mean on
on everything. I mean, did you see the McCaffrey. I mean,
(10:42):
he wasn't touched. He was not touched until fifty yards downfield.
I mean, it's it's absurd, the stuff they do, priestnap
with personnel, the way they put players, I mean it is.
Kyle Shanahan is a genius. He's pretty flat. I ain't
gonna lie pretty flat, but I gotta say I saw that,
(11:02):
I saw balance last night. I'm interested to see how that.
I'm interested to see how pretty handles this pressure and
now all of a sudden, you're on the Cowboys. I'm not.
You've just not gonna hate on him. That was an
impressive victory by all stretches of measurement. And and and
(11:27):
here's the thing. I really think that the part of
me that like I'm fighting the hater, I am truly fight.
Like when I told you, I woke up early out
of my sleep like, oh, hating, Like I really hating,
Like I had to check myself. They had a super
(11:47):
impressive night and they were the only gang. Now with
that being said, I thought it was more about how
poor Tampa Bay was than it was Dallas. But I'm
not going to be a hater and say that that
should take away from what we saw Dallas. Dude last night.
That was a total dominant effort by Dallas. No matter
(12:12):
what the circumstances where that played out for Tampa. But
I think you gotta add some context to it. Tampa
Bay was not very good. They were not good. If
you were stacking every team in the playoffs this year,
Tampa Bay is probably in the range of twelve to fourteen.
But the hater in me, or maybe the realist in me, says,
(12:32):
you're gonna find out what Dallas is really all about
this week, no excuses. If they had the type of
game they had last night against San Francisco, you gotta
take your hat off the Dallas I just I don't
think that's possible against that defense. You gotta take your
hat off. Yeah, I agree, but they're also it's on
a short week. You gotta go on the road rolling
(12:54):
and least it sets the stage to say, can Dallas
be a team? Because if Dallas can win this game,
then Dallas can win the Super Bowl. If Dallas can
win this game, then Dallas can win the Super Bowl.
They can win the NFC. If Dallas can win this
game the way San Francisco is playing right now, if
(13:18):
Dallas can win this game, they have the capabilities of
winning the Super Bowl. Man, the FC is tough. I
think the only team that's got a shot in the
Super Bowl coming out of the NFC s the Niners.
Right now, Bro, I haven't seen the way the knac
Chiefs are going to play in the playoffs yet. But
if you're telling me to thank you, ye surprising. I mean,
(13:42):
Kamar Jackson, you said it yesterday, you admitted it. If
Lamar Jackson's in that game. Buffalo might be sitting at
home right now. Well, Cincinnati, if if Lamar Jackson was
in that game against the Bengals, uh, Baltimore is winning
that game, they might be sitting at home. Buffalo just
steps up, Buffalo might be sitting at home. What is
(14:06):
going on? Oh my god? Alarm? Oh my gosh, that
was a fire hot. That was a hot that really
wasn't it really was I'm talking about It was pretty
quick though, it was. Now you want to add to it, yes, okay,
Birto felt left out. That was a real fire alarm. People,
(14:27):
by the way, just set it off because he's upset
about you guys not talking about the Raiders more. Yeah,
but come on, Tom Brady in Vegas. Come when Tom Brady? Uh,
I had like a a TB twelve hotel and casino,
get that built on the strip. I think it should
have been a part of the show up. Personally, I
thought I thought it was just such great timing. A
(14:49):
little fire alarm never hurt anybuddy Burto, Come on, bos
touched sensitive like a son of a gun. But a
Burto TB twelve hotel and casino, what are we thinking?
Come on, come on, bur Hi, your residency for six months,
either that he can have Derek Carr back fire, Tom
come to the Raiders and his arm is gonna fall
off on bag Wow, fire Wow. All those years to
(15:17):
rule play and now he comes to you guys and
you can't have a root for him. No cereal, no
sick or you man, that's in respect. Come on, one
of the all time greats arms fall off. I mean,
couldn't you imagine Tom Brady running out there whither it
with the Autumn Wind? You know, it's either that or
(15:42):
Derek Carr, who apparently is now U vangelists. Yeah, he's
not giving speeches. You see that he's on stage. You
want to keep thinking that car is coming back. That
whole thing is over. It's over saying I'm trying to win.
It's either a draft pick or it's topic. I'm trying
to wind BIRDO. We not play the Autumn Wind for
a second. Just imagine everyone, close your eyes, even if
(16:03):
you're for a second. Let's save Oh yeah, and you
know Gronks coming to Brons going to Vegas and Brady comes. Gronk, Yeah,
coming showed us. Can you give me a I would
say callus firth with this, Harry carry, Harry carry with
this for tom Brady coming out, I can't well, the
Harry carry doesn't apply to this, but it doesn't for
this outs. The autumn wind is a pirate, yeah, formerly
(16:28):
a buccaneer. He dances and he throws, and he jogs
onto the field while everyone's watching far and near to
the top of the lux or. He climbs with a
ball attached to his right hand, and he looks far
(16:48):
and wide, and he said, this ball has air and
it's and he throws a touchdown again. The autumn wind
is tom Brady, dimpled chin and high cheek bone. The
autumn wind is tom Brady, and he'll now call Las
Vegas home. That spoken words. Anyone the balls after that,
(17:15):
anyone to me? Those balls are perfect, perfect balls. If
you try with Harry carry, though, don't no, no, no,
you gotta put dot and win back all for Harry carry.
You gotta do it, for you gotta watch. We are
way late, but we gotta do it. We gotta do it.
(17:40):
Split could have wind. The autumn win Lee hot CONSTI

(19:11):
Pros and a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LaVar
Arrington and Jonas Knocks week days at six am Easter
three am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I
Heart Radio app. So here's the situation, and tell me
if you've heard this before. Jim Harbaugh is returning to Michigan.
Al right, so he is going to be back Jim, Yes,
(19:35):
So he has a transper port or u announcement. He
has a date as well. Well. He did release a
statement yesterday, Okay, alright, he so he met the timeline. Yeah,
and you know the portals closing soon. You know the
declaring what what what was that yesterday? You had to
declare for the NFL yesterday deadline? Okay? So he made
(19:57):
his declaration yesterday. Maybe he was waiting for c JS
Drought to make his decision and so that way he
could like one up him, one last one upmanship from
Jim Harbaughs. He's got two straight wins on the field
over Ohio State. But he he wrote in this statement,
I love the relationships I have at Michigan coaches, staff,
family's administration, the president, and especially the players and their families.
(20:19):
My heart is at the University of Michigan. I once
heard a wise man say, don't try to out happy, Happy,
go Blue, And just like that, Jim Harbaugh is not
going back to the NFL. He already informed the Denver Broncos. Listen,
great conversation, but my heart is with Michigan, even though
this is now the third team that we know of
(20:40):
that he's at least had a conversation with in the
past year about wanting to jump to the NFL, but
never mind all that, his heart is in Michigan. So
we got it. We got a covered here. So Jim,
we have to deal with this every single year, every year? No,
But I'm asking, I mean, is this a deal that
he gets where finally he's not going to entertain this
every single year. He's done it two years in a row.
(21:01):
I think it's gonna happen again next year if there's
an offer that comes out, I really do. I think
if he gets the right offer, I think he's good.
That's just me. That's just me. Uh, what's driving him?
You know? Is it is it to go to the pros?
Like I wonder what is his true motivation? Is it
(21:23):
to drive the price up high enough where he's comfortable
just being at Michigan Or is he just not content
being at Michigan and wants to go back to the
Pros and try to win a Super Bowl or win
Super Bowls? I just wonder what's his motivation. I feel
like if I could understand his motivation, then maybe I
(21:47):
me personally, I don't want to speak for everyone. I
could be more tolerant when I hear about it, but
not knowing what his true, you know, feelings are in
terms of do you want to coach in the NFL?
And and and give us a like a some type
of reason. Why give us some entail, give us like
(22:09):
like be vulnerable or transparent for just a moment so
that we can say, Okay, you know what, that's fair,
that's fair. But we don't get that. And so now
you're just sitting there like is he being like, is
it because they made him take a pay cut? Michigan
made him take a pay cut? Is it because Michigan
(22:31):
and recruiting or you know, they wanted to investigate them.
Is it because recruiting in general it is very competitive
and very hard And it's not just you know, I've
been thinking about how hard it is to justify to
the people that are signing off on on doing these scholarships,
the budgets, Like every single time you give a scholarship out,
(22:51):
you have to justify that this is an investment that's
going to yield you an r o I. And it's
so interesting thinking about it from the standpoint like this
this transfer portal that's kind of really opened my eyes
up to looking at the details, the small fine print
of recruiting and how serious and how important it is
(23:15):
to hit and when you think about how many times
you miss and recruiting. So I just want to understand
is all of the minutia, because there is a lot
of minutia connected to college athletics, and and it's maybe
probably more, it's definitely more than and it or maybe
maybe the best way to say, very different than the
(23:37):
National Football League. Just let us know what it is.
That's all I'm saying, and then we can go from there.
But if we're gonna hear it every year and we
don't have any real explanation as to why we're hearing
it every year, man, I'm sorry, it's a turn off.
Like then you start being turned off to the team
like that. I don't like Michigan all like that anyway,
(23:59):
but got Lee. Don't have people being turned off to
Michigan because of your antics. So a year ago, he
goes and meets with the Minnesota Vikings. The speculation was
that he thought it was going to be an interview
and it was a formality he was going to get
offered a job, and had he been offered the job,
he would have taken the job with the Vikings and that, yeah,
(24:19):
that's that. That that was reported on by multiple people.
And he came back to Michigan and agreed on this
new deal with with the Wolverines. And it was like, well, listen,
I don't plan on making this a habit. This isn't
gonna be every year. I did have a conversation, there
was some interest, but you know, again, my heart is
with Michigan. And then a year later, we're doing it again.
(24:39):
And he talked to multiple teams, He talked to Carolina,
He had a zoom interview with Denver. If your heart's
with Michigan, why is all of that happening in the
matter of a year. So then if he goes on
to a national championship next year, or makes it to
the championship game, or god forbid, they win a national
title next year, there's no reason think that he might leave. Yeah, like,
(25:02):
what if somebody comes calling again, it's gonna be I
just I feel like if it happens this many years
in a row, and there's still some unfinished business obviously
with the way things ended in San Francisco, and you know,
him getting to a Super Bowl but losing that Super
Bowl to his brother. It just feels like, yes, this
is going to be a conversation moving forward again. I
(25:22):
don't think so if they give him again the right
structured contract. But to Lavarre's point, as far as the motivation,
you know, I think most coaches who are enticed by
the NFL who have had success in college, I think
they're looking at it and say, like, that's the ultimate arena.
Like Jim Harbaugh strikes me as the type of guy
(25:42):
that wants to win the ultimate arena. Now, he hasn't
necessarily wanted. He hasn't wanted a jamship in college, he
hasn't been to the Pinnacle yet, and he hasn't necessarily
been to the pinnacle in the NFL, even though he's
made it to his Super Bowl, but they obviously ended
up losing. So I'm not sure if that's the motivation
and he's just saying, hey, look, if I have an
opportunity to go to the NFL, much like any of
(26:03):
my players who will who will leave Michigan and want
to go early if they can or whatever they're you know,
eligibility expires, they're gonna take that opportunity. I'm gonna do
the same thing. Guys like I was once in your
shoes as a player, I'm now in your shoes as
and now as a coach kind of in a similar
situation where if I get that opportunity, maybe I'm gonna go.
I mean, it's not easier being in the NFL. UM
(26:27):
you don't have to deal with n I L. You
don't have to deal with the transfer portal and a
lot of the things that come along with it. But
there is an element of it's the ultimate ultimate platform
or pinnacle for the sport and if you're if you
want to succeed at the highest level, that's it. You know.
Maybe it's just the competitive nature in him. Maybe it's
(26:49):
the lack of contract that he's gotten from Michigan and
that's what he's he's doing just holding you know, Michigan
and trying to leverage these opportunities and holding them to
the fire. It's it's hard to understand. Um he's a
he's a unique coach, he's a unique personality. He really
is what it's all said and done. But he's got
the program in a great spot. You have to have
(27:10):
a ton of credit for that. UM. I just I
wonder if he could get over the top at Michigan.
You know, even in the NFL he got to the championship,
they lost. You Know, you gotta wonder, at some point, Kenny,
can he get over the top that did not just
win a big ten and get the playoff? Can he
win a national championship? You know? Is he the type
of coach to do that? Whatever the case is, he
(27:32):
might be looking at his path to that championship that's
gonna solidify him as a coach as part of history,
and maybe he feels like the NFL is he knows
how to do it because he's done it before and
the next time he gets back he will win it.
But it's hard to understand outside of just leveraging money
and looking at his contract situation, how Michigan handle things
(27:54):
after COVID with him when they hadn't. He'd improve the program,
but not to the point where he's got it right
now where maybe he's coming back and saying, you gotta
pay me. You gotta pay me at least ten million
a year and for this many years, and then then
I'll be happy we don't have to do this every
single year. But until that point, I'm gonna keep better
at saying this, And it's also part of this is
the discussion surrounding his what you would consider success early on,
(28:18):
because we've talked about it before. Everyone was knocking Harbor
because well, he didn't beat Ohio State and he wasn't
beating and people forget how bad the program was in
and how bad a shape the program was in. Rather
before he got there six wins a year, they were terrible.
I remember here, they couldn't sell tickets. Nobody was going
to games. They were giving away tickets when you bought
(28:40):
like soda, like a two leader bottle of soda at
a supermarket there. That's a real story. Member John palm Rossi,
friend of the program who lives in ann Arbor, saying yeah, listen,
like people weren't going to games like that's Michigan football.
They were awful. Harbor comes back completely, gets them back
into the conversation and everyone starts looking in him and going, well, yeah,
(29:01):
but he hadn't won a national title and he wasn't
beating Ohio State. So now he's beating Ohio State if
he beat him a third straight year, which would you
bet right now? Brad, just just without knowing what the
line is. Yes, they're they're gonna be favorite. It's first off,
it's in Ann Harbor. They've got their quarterback coming back.
They have a bunch of other players coming back. Ohio
(29:21):
State just had c. J. Stroud walk out the door
at quarterback. Obviously, even though Jackson Smith and Jim didn't
really help them this year, he's still gone. He's declared.
A number of players in the offensive line have declared.
Tommy Eikenberg is about one of the only guys I
can I can think of that's decided to come back
for an additional year. Marvin Harrison can't go because he's
not eligible, even though he'd probably be the top wide
(29:42):
receiver in this draft. So um, they gotta find a
new quarterback, they gotta find a bunch of new pieces.
And yeah, you'd give Michigan the edge right now. They'd
be favored up in Ann Arbor over Ohio State next year,
you imagine. But if you were to tell Michigan fans
before Harbor took the job, like, hey, you're not gonna
have a national title, but give us a few years,
you will have won three straight games against Ohio State,
(30:03):
anybody would sign up for that. So Harbor has got
to be feeling himself a little bit right now, going hey, man,
like we were close, so what it? What's the check
gonna look like? You know? And just one more point
from me, I would say, and feeling yourself and being
in a scenario where maybe at a point in time,
(30:27):
and I'm gonna keep going back to when you know
he took the cut, the pay cut that sometimes you know,
you can have such a bad taste in your mouth
to an experience in a moment. I know, for me,
I get over things fairly quickly. No, that's not true.
(30:48):
If I really if I really care, if I really care,
I'll grudge for years, like I'll grudge for a lifetime.
Actually yeah, I actually will. And now that I'm really
thinking it through, Um, if somebody wronged me and I
felt like I was, especially from people that I care about,
(31:08):
that's going to that's not going to sit well with me.
And I just wonder, I mean, he was he he
wasn't doing that? Was he doing it before he took
the pay cut? Was he interviewing with teams before that?
Because he hadn't he hadn't really beaten Hi, so he
wasn't being sought after at that point State for that matter,
(31:32):
he was really very good against Michigan State. Okay, So
I mean that's even more reason to say he has
a point in feeling the way that he feels. If
he's not going to be appreciated in those moments and
now you know I'm hot, now you're on me, then
I feel like he has every right to leverage it
how he wants to leverage it. But with that being said,
(31:55):
when you're in the type of industry that he's in
and you feel ill the role of what a coach
and that type of that type of community, what they represent,
I just would urge like he's got to be careful
and how he's doing it because that's where you're that's
your alma mater. You played there, and listen, you've done
(32:15):
enough great things regardless, but just continue to take the
fans into consideration and take take the players that that
you're getting to come there into consideration before doing all
of this. You know, hopefully all of this has slowed
down because he is a fine coach and from everything
(32:38):
I've heard, you know, a lot of the guys that
that I've had an opportunity to talk to that have
come from Michigan. They actually like them, they like him,
and and so to me, like preserve that if you're
gonna if you're going to take the road to the NFL,
then take the road. But don't don't talk about it
(32:58):
until you're gonna do it. Like all of this, like
preliminary engaging and testing and seeing what's out there and
if the market is there, or continuing to try to
leverage Michigan into something else. At some point you gotta
let it go. Whatever made you feel like you need
to continue to do this, sometimes, at some point you
gotta let it go. Either you're good enough or you're not.

Fusco Show on the I Hot Radio app, Apple podcast
or wherever you get your podcasts. Right now, it is
time for the Progressive play of the day. I am praying,
praying for Brett Bucker to take this extra point. This
extra point. He pulled it. He pulled them all to
(34:25):
the left like any good golfer. You missed two shots
for the right. The next one you're pull into the
water level. Come on, Brett, you can do it. Here's
a snap. It's good. The extra point kick is up.
It kicked off the right, up right and went out
all right. Goodness, my goodness. See Dallas Cowboys Radio Network
(34:49):
on the call. That is our progressive play of the day.

eight hundred Progressive. Yeah, that was kind of felt bad
for him, man, just watching him melt down like that
at the national point. How do you feel bad for
somebody missing an extra point? It's the old extra points
(35:12):
thirty three yards. Now, I don't feel like I don't
feel bad. I also don't know that he like melted down.
He just couldn't figure it out. Man, it's tough, Like
I mean, I'm sure we've all been a part of
somebody just having a bad day of work. Well, that's
what it looks like for a kicker, you know. I mean,
that's that's Fortunately they really didn't like need those those
(35:33):
p A t s, but they will in the future,
so we'll see how readily tough he is to come
back and if he needs to make a kick to
win it for San Francisco, you know, or something like that.
It is funny three misses this year, win four? I
mean three or four? Well he missed that was four
in one game. Yeah, he missed four, So he's got four,
Like that's the only misses really has all years. He
(35:54):
missed his last p A T attempt at the regular season,
so he'd actually missed five straight and then he finally
made the one to give him the thirty first point
of the night. But I just it's funny how when
Roger Goodell came out years ago and they asked him, so,
why was there the need to move the extra point back?
He said he felt like the extra point had got
into a place where people didn't need to stick around
(36:16):
for it. When you would score a touchdown, you just
assume I was going to make it and you walk away.
Said so we wanted to add a little bit of
something to it. I thought it was dumb. He was
a hundred percent correct, because that extra fifteen yards on
the extra point has completely changed how kickers approach it.
Like you'll you'll see him to where these guys will
be great during the course of a game kicking field goals,
(36:38):
and for some reason the extra point guys are missing
then it Terry struggled with it. David's thirty three yards.
It's a lot further back, though, it's still to stand
there and blast it through. You practice kicking like when
they take an angle, because he was kicking from with
(36:59):
the left. Hash yeah, so again, And maybe there's people
at home who are gonna call me a moron for this,
but I'm looking at like I would just kick right
down the middle and then look if I have a
little draw on it or something. However, I kick the ball,
you just kind of place it where you would a
little bit more right Like I I feel like when
you put yourself at an angle like to me, it
(37:21):
would make it a little more difficult, you know, That's
all I see it. So every time I see him
on the on the hash and he's you know, he's
obviously the way he's aiming, he's aiming to kick it
and it's gonna like draw back in inside that right
up right, But he just kept kicking it. It was
just like, Nope, not to stand out there, like it's
not coming back in, dude. It's like, just just fly
them right down the middle and just try to hit it, like,
(37:42):
just give yourself a little more room to miss. I
guess I don't know. I just you don't have to run,
you don't you don't have to throw, you don't have
to tackle. You know. It's like all you do is kick,
you know what. It's like, it was like to move
we tin cup or he just give me the ball.
(38:04):
It just refused to believe that it was his approach. No, no, no, no, no,
I got this. Everything I'm doing it's gonna work out eventually.
And he just he couldn't get it together. It was
a very much Dallas Cowboys Jerry Jones type thing. Like
Jerry talked him the locker room be like, hey man,
I know exactly what you were doing, all right. You
believed with all your heart that kick was going to
(38:27):
go in the way you were kicking it, you know,
and it just won't. You're not. But guess what neither
is gonna be next week because we're cutting your ass.
I'm gonna find a kicker to come in there. Then
they cutting the cutting. No, no, they said they're not cutting.
They're gonna stick with them. I mean, he had a
good year, came out that he got cut today. I
would because they made it a point to say that
(38:48):
they're going to stick by him. And so if they
were to come back afterwards and just say, you know,
he's got to go that that would be unfortunate for
Brett Mars. But and now he gets on the road
and kick, you know, and who knows what the conditions
are going to be like at Levi Stadium, Yeah, which
was worse his kicks or Carl Lewis singing the national anthem. Meanwhile,
(39:12):
Robbie Robbie Gold has never missed a kick in the playoffs.
