the big story in the NFL is the health of
Patrick Mahomes. All right, everybody's wondering he's got he's got
this this high ankle sprain, but apparently he heals better
than a lot of people. And Patrick Mahomes talked yesterday
about not only the injury right now, but the one
he's sustained back in twenty nineteen, some differences, and gave

an update on his prognosis moving forward. It's doing good,
you know, a few days of treatment, a few days
of rehab, excited to get on the practice field and
kind of tested out and see where I'm at. But
it's feeling good so far. So the last one it
was a leg that I landed on, so I had
to find ways to throw where I can land and
keep it in the right spot. And this time I'll
have to find ways to be able to push off
and be able to still make the throws the right way. So, uh,

definitely similar in a sense, but obviously different limitations and
stuff that all the work through, all right, So how
we're feeling about it? QB one, How we feeling about it?
All right? This injury is opposed to the last one.
You got some some sports betting books out there that
have taken the line off the board. You can still
get bangles minus one in some spots, but there's some
out there that are looking at it going, yeah, we're

gonna go ahead and and left leave this off the
board until we know for sure what's going to happen
coming up in this game. And so if it was
like there's a lot more optimism about Patrick Mahomes, and
there was a couple of days ago when the injury,
right after the injury first occurred. I think this might
go down as one of the more overblown injuries that
there's been. I mean, I'll be serious. There was never

a doubt he wasn't gonna play. Like for people to
think that, I mean, the line movement would have been huge,
which it never really like was initially. I mean, I'm
saying if Mahomes wasn't playing since that he would be
like a five point favorite. I mean that that's how
drastic it would be. It's never been that. You know,

he played obviously in finished last week's game, which would
lead you to think he's gonna play the following week.
And he has to play. He knows that. So the
bottom line is, I just feel like this whole thing
was so overblown and has been overblown. Will he be limited,
yes he could that be the difference in the game, sure,
But he's playing like the whole time. There's never a

doubt in my mind whether or not he was gonna play,
And I really didn't care or whether or not he practiced.
You know, I I know what Andy Reid said, you
know as far as previously that Holmes is never played
and not practiced that week. But at this point in
time the season, you're walkthroughs mostly like you're not doing
a whole lot out there. You're so deep in the season.

Everyone's just trying to maintain their health, the body and
all that. So I think this has been one of
the more overblown things. It's Thursday. We'll continue to talk
about this tomorrow through the weekend, and Jonas is gonna
blow it up like nothing you've ever heard before the show. Yeah,

it's taken by someone from Eastern on Saturdays. He's gonna
make the biggest deal about it, and it's not that
big of a deal. They listen, they call me the

it's a big story is because it sets just storyline.

needed to be in the game, and how Cincinnati has

will have been able to take his team yet again
to a Super Bowl. I mean, he is having one
of the most brilliant careers of evening football player ever
to play the game. And so I think that that's
why it's a big deal, because I mean, Patrick Mahomes

is a big deal. Five straight a f C championship.
It's incredible. I mean it is a little reminiscent of
of Brady esque. I mean, I know the Super Bowls
haven't really come with that, right, He's only one one,
but he's he's venturing into territory where it feels like
every single year. If you're someone who's into gambling, you say,

I've been a I'm gonna bet on the Chiefs to
win it all or I'm gonna bet at least the
Chiefs to win the a f C because I know
they'll be there. Um and and look Burrows and back
to back years. Maybe this will be Cincinnati moving forward,
although I do feel like they've they always are going
to have a tough, tough time to the a f
C North. That's just a tough division to get through
and a physical division. But it's it's incredible. It really is.

When you think about what Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes
and everyone else involved has been a part of the
last five years. Just always make it to the a
f C Championship game. People on the outside have no
idea how difficult that is. I mean, it's it's similar
to when we talk about the Buffalo Bills are going
to four straight Super Bowls. I mean that in and

of itself is ridiculous. I mean they didn't win any,
but you know that that's sometimes how the cookie crumbles.
I just I look at what they've done and think
they're kind of that what could be the next dynasty.
They just need some things to break their way and

you can make things worse because your body for a
period of time is going to feel better than it

they want to play, what they want to feel. But
it could it's like it's it could remove the inflammation
and and sometimes the biggest the biggest part of healing
from I don't think it's an inflammatory. I think it's
a pain reliever. Right, it is a reliever, but it
also it also subsides the inflammation that you you may

have in the situation that you had, Like, yeah, I
mean it works for that, So it's not it's not. Well,
I don't want to get into being a doctor because
I'm certainly not that. Why not everybody else does it? Yeah,

Um listen um for me. I just I think that
as long as they can manage which it looks as
seemingly that they're able to manage the pain of it
um and his tolerance will will be there again him
at him, and I guess it's you're going against Joe Burrow,

you gotta say, if he's got the tolerance to be
at seventy eight for this game health wise, that's I'm
taking him probably nine times out of ten over anybody
else I'm taking. Yeah, I'm taking them. I'm taking them.

the Kansas City Chiefs for one, I think that this
works in their favor, guys, because I know as a defender,
if Q is hurt and that's my QB, you know

be ready for this because anything and everything can happen
in this game. It's it's a one game season. It's
the game before the Super Bowl. Like you, we got

have from staff on down to players, I think it's
gonna be at a high level. And then I'll take

like this, this human quality where when you feel like

someone you care about could be in in a situation
of danger, you just have something extra to you and

puts us the headline. You're like, no one is smart
enough anymore to actually click the link and listen to
the seven minute conversation, Like we're just we're not there
in society and are too lazy, and they've they've completely
gone past the point of wanting to actually read or
wanting to actually listen to something that's longer than like

I'm just telling you, we're venturing into a world of
no one can read more than like ten words, because
that's all we do is read like a tweet or
a headline. We're like, oh, what, that's what was how
they think? And you're like, no, yeah, but you know what,
then you look forward to audio or to the video
if if if possible, and they cut that into conversation.

Nobody could read anymore. But everybody's a music producer all
of a sudden, because they're doing TikTok videos. Like I
thought MTV died years ago, and now all of a sudden,
TikTok's brought back music videos and it's a bunch of

That's the way this world works now, all right. So

it would be racketball. I swear to you, I've never
heard of. I think it's only for like the ultra
elite of this country. And I was just like, oh,
if I've never heard of that, it's it's not even like, oh,

had never heard of that was some sort of racket sport.

I mean, that's probably an Olympic sport too. Well it
might be nowadays, and we can't get jiu jitsu in
the Olympics, but we can get equestrian. Just think about that.

of CBS, that members of the Colts front office don't
really like the idea, but Jim Mercy is all in.
Apparently on on Jeff Saturday, who's getting a second interview.

I think Dan Quinn's also getting a second interview. So
it looks like the Indianapolis Colts are close to making
a decision and we might get Jeff Saturday Part two
coming up next season. If Jim Rcy has his way.

Why not at this point? Why don't we just roll

with it. Let's just let's just go for part two
and let's piss more people off and have more people
be outraged at Jeff Saturday. Maybe he maybe the problem
was the coaching staff that he had to inherit, and
so he needs to get his own coaching staff together
and then we can do this again. But I thought
after one in seven and just some of the some
of the performances of that team, that we were going
to go ahead and say, hey, gave it a go.

He goes back to TV. Everybody is happy. But apparently
Jeff Saturday might have an opportunity to beat out Dan
Quinn for the coaching job after going one in seven.
How you feel about that? Cute? I guess I got

stubborn because he made this selection during the season. He

wanted Jeff Saturday to be a coach there, even though
it kind of took on a disastrous take and what
they went in the first game and that was it.
They lost everything since. Um, So, either he's trying to
double down or he just he doesn't really take into
account much of what happened well season. I mean, I
don't know either way. It's gonna be tough if your

front office, who has done a good job of building
this roster with guys like Chris Ballard their general manager,
are saying, oh, huh, we don't want to do this. Oh,
I don't know. I don't know, Lee Roberto. What does
Carl Lewis think if Jeff Saturday ends up becoming the
perman head coach. By the way, it was the anniversary

to say that he can't be successful. I thought Jim
Mercy was sending Jeff Saturday up for failure as well

that decision in season. Now we have an entire offseason
and reset. If Saturday is the guy he wants it,
it seems like he's pretty adamant about giving him the job.
I just I think it was a way of skirting
the Rooty rule, which that bothers me. I think he's
going to potentially lose some good people in the front

office who are looking to jump overboard. By the way,

had in that direction, you know, I mean, at least
if he ends up hiring him. I just I think
if you have a candidate like Dan Quinn who has
got prior coaching experience. You know, he's been great as
a defensive coordinator his entire career pretty much, would you

think you'd give him a long, hard look, especially when
other potential candidates have not even entertained interviewing there like
there have there have been guys have been like, no,
I'm good, I don't I don't want to go to Indiannapolis.
And you've got an opportunity to restart the franchise, like
you can draft a quarterback and just go in that
direction and start from the bottom and and try and
continue on as opposed to retread quarterback after retread quarterback.

Because Andrew Luck decided to retire early and it feels
like he's just gonna roll out Jeff Saturday again that.
I just wonder, are we getting to the to the
point where this is like Al Davis in his final

want you guys to help me so that I don't

about how good of a dude he is or how

USA Today Wire picked it up. People picked it up well,
because I think that's because everybody's worn out with the
Patrick Mahomes injury update except for this show, and so
so they just wanted something else to talk about. In

in the area. I think I'm gonna just say no comment.
But if I say no comment, then I still get

this this high ankle sprain, but apparently he heals better
than a lot of people. And Patrick Mahomes talked yesterday
about not only the injury right now, but the one
he's sustained back in twenty nineteen, some differences, and gave

an update on his prognosis moving forward. It's doing good,
you know, a few days of treatment, a few days
of rehab, excited to get on the practice field and
kind of tested out and see where I'm at. But
it's feeling good so far. So the last one it
was a leg that I landed on, so I had
to find ways to throw where I can land and
keep it in the right spot. And this time I'll
have to find ways to be able to push off
and be able to still make the throws the right way. So, uh,

definitely similar in a sense, but obviously different limitations and
stuff that all the work through, all right, So how
we're feeling about it? QB one, How we feeling about it?
All right? This injury is opposed to the last one.
You got some some sports betting books out there that
have taken the line off the board. You can still
get bangles minus one in some spots, but there's some
out there that are looking at it going, yeah, we're

gonna go ahead and and left leave this off the
board until we know for sure what's going to happen
coming up in this game. And so if it was
like there's a lot more optimism about Patrick Mahomes, and
there was a couple of days ago when the injury,
right after the injury first occurred. I think this might
go down as one of the more overblown injuries that
there's been. I mean, I'll be serious. There was never

a doubt he wasn't gonna play. Like for people to
think that, I mean, the line movement would have been huge,
which it never really like was initially. I mean, I'm
saying if Mahomes wasn't playing since that he would be
like a five point favorite. I mean that that's how
drastic it would be. It's never been that. You know,

he played obviously in finished last week's game, which would
lead you to think he's gonna play the following week.
And he has to play. He knows that. So the
bottom line is, I just feel like this whole thing
was so overblown and has been overblown. Will he be limited,
yes he could that be the difference in the game, sure,
But he's playing like the whole time. There's never a
(03:56):
doubt in my mind whether or not he was gonna play,
And I really didn't care or whether or not he practiced.
You know, I I know what Andy Reid said, you
know as far as previously that Holmes is never played
and not practiced that week. But at this point in
time the season, you're walkthroughs mostly like you're not doing
a whole lot out there. You're so deep in the season.

Everyone's just trying to maintain their health, the body and
all that. So I think this has been one of
the more overblown things. It's Thursday. We'll continue to talk
about this tomorrow through the weekend, and Jonas is gonna
blow it up like nothing you've ever heard before the show. Yeah,
but Jonas knock show. I can't use j KS because

it's taken by someone from Eastern on Saturdays. He's gonna
make the biggest deal about it, and it's not that
big of a deal. They listen, they call me the
high ankle sprain hype man. That's what I do. You
got a high ankle sprain, I'll hype it up until
that ankle gets healed. That's what I do here on
this show. Everybody needs a hype man. The reason why
it's a big story is because it sets just storyline.

Then then well, yeah, that's true. I mean it's hard,
it's hard to move beyond the fact that, well, it's
a big story because Jonas wants it to be. But
I'll say this, I'm sure a lot of other people
that are covering it are looking at it as as
a narrative builder. If if Cincinnati were to win, then
it'll ultimately be about the greatness of Joe Burrow and

Patrick Mahomes not being healthy enough to be what he
needed to be in the game, and how Cincinnati has
Kansas City's number if they win the game, it's one.

is that what's called performance by Patrick Mahomes. Heroicism is
a word too right here, rail Yeah, I mean, it's

in the word. I mean, I'm just saying, Okay, well, anyway,
it is very heroic if if Patrick Mahomes is is
able to to get out there and play well enough
for the team to win, and then now that sets
the stage for an even bigger narrative for Patrick Mahomes
heading into the Super Bowl because Patrick Mahomes, literally, which

will be the storyline on one and a half leg legs,
will have been able to take his team yet again
to a Super Bowl. I mean, he is having one
of the most brilliant careers of evening football player ever
to play the game. And so I think that that's
why it's a big deal, because I mean, Patrick Mahomes

is a big deal. Five straight a f C championship.
It's incredible. I mean it is a little reminiscent of
of Brady esque. I mean, I know the Super Bowls
haven't really come with that, right, He's only one one,
but he's he's venturing into territory where it feels like
every single year. If you're someone who's into gambling, you say,

I've been a I'm gonna bet on the Chiefs to
win it all or I'm gonna bet at least the
Chiefs to win the a f C because I know
they'll be there. Um and and look Burrows and back
to back years. Maybe this will be Cincinnati moving forward,
although I do feel like they've they always are going
to have a tough, tough time to the a f
C North. That's just a tough division to get through
and a physical division. But it's it's incredible. It really is.

When you think about what Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes
and everyone else involved has been a part of the
last five years. Just always make it to the a
f C Championship game. People on the outside have no
idea how difficult that is. I mean, it's it's similar
to when we talk about the Buffalo Bills are going
to four straight Super Bowls. I mean that in and

of itself is ridiculous. I mean they didn't win any,
but you know that that's sometimes how the cookie crumbles.
I just I look at what they've done and think
they're kind of that what could be the next dynasty.
They just need some things to break their way and
also general to see to see where Super pumped up today. Buddy,

I'm just fired up, man. I mean we're right around
the corner from Super Conference Championship weekend. Conference Championship weekend,
why not? I mean it was Super wild Card weekend.
If we're throwing words around, let's just throw it around.
Let's make everything super. We got the Super Bowl after that,
so we've got Super Conference Championship game weekend. We got
super heroic performance by Patrick mahomes on on a blown

out wheel like that, being able to gut through practice
yesterday and to walk through and then be ready to
go for this game. I think this is important stuff.
I think you're downplaying it a little bit too much.
I mean this this could really impact his throwing motion.
You know, I mean, is there is there a particular
leg you would prefer to have a high ankle sprain
on the right handed quarterback, you prefer on your left leg.

You don't want to on your back leg. That's your
push leg, that's when you drive off of. You'd rather
have it on your left leg. I knew somebody at
some point was gonna go, don't want it on your
balance your extra balance leg. Well, this is on the
back leg. So when that wouldn't that increase the uh,

the heroic level of his performance? Seeing uh, seeing this, Yeah,
but I'll say this. You'll see him in warmups moving
around yesterday. Yeah, it's fine, just fine. He was a normal,
little kind of odd jog that he's got. It looks
like it could be limping, but it's kind of what
it always looks like. Okay, can I can? I probably
got a massage, you know, like a legitimate masseuse came

in and rubbed it out, and and then he got
the juices from the gods um and they popped him
and that thing feels good. Okay, can you use the
can you use the tour at all? Prints for this
high ankle sprainer is that more for stuff And like
the shoulder, it's aspirin jonas, that's all it is. It's

it's just it's liquid aspirin. That's all it is. So
the Tortal Angel doesn't mean you can get the risk
you always have. By the way, with using total as,
you can make things worse because your body for a
period of time is going to feel better than it
should and you're not gonna feel potentially if you if
you reinjure it and injure worse than that. So I

don't know. It all depends on the athlete and how
they want to play, what they want to feel. But
it could it's like it's it could remove the inflammation
and and sometimes the biggest the biggest part of healing
from I don't think it's an inflammatory. I think it's
a pain reliever. Right, it is a reliever, but it
also it also subsides the inflammation that you you may

have in the situation that you had, Like, yeah, I
mean it works for that, So it's not it's not. Well,
I don't want to get into being a doctor because
I'm certainly not that. Why not everybody else does it? Yeah,
just go on, go on, Twitter and start tweeting whatever
you wanta. Come on, I don't have the I don't
have that type of ego, you know what I mean, reckless?
Come on, Well some of us do it at our station.

Um listen um for me. I just I think that
as long as they can manage which it looks as
seemingly that they're able to manage the pain of it
um and his tolerance will will be there again him
at him, and I guess it's you're going against Joe Burrow,

you gotta say, if he's got the tolerance to be
at seventy eight for this game health wise, that's I'm
taking him probably nine times out of ten over anybody
else I'm taking. Yeah, I'm taking them. I'm taking them.

the Kansas City Chiefs for one, I think that this
works in their favor, guys, because I know as a defender,
if Q is hurt and that's my QB, you know

be ready for this because anything and everything can happen
in this game. It's it's a one game season. It's
the game before the Super Bowl. Like you, we got

have from staff on down to players, I think it's
gonna be at a high level. And then I'll take

someone you care about could be in in a situation
of danger, you just have something extra to you and

puts us the headline. You're like, no one is smart
enough anymore to actually click the link and listen to

in society and are too lazy, and they've they've completely
gone past the point of wanting to actually read or
wanting to actually listen to something that's longer than like

I'm just telling you, we're venturing into a world of
no one can read more than like ten words, because
that's all we do is read like a tweet or
a headline. We're like, oh, what, that's what was how
they think? And you're like, no, yeah, but you know what,
then you look forward to audio or to the video
if if if possible, and they cut that into conversation.

Nobody could read anymore. But everybody's a music producer all
of a sudden, because they're doing TikTok videos. Like I
thought MTV died years ago, and now all of a sudden,
TikTok's brought back music videos and it's a bunch of

That's the way this world works now, all right. So

other potential candidates have not even entertained interviewing there like

And you've got an opportunity to restart the franchise, like

direction and start from the bottom and and try and
continue on as opposed to retread quarterback after retread quarterback.

Because Andrew Luck decided to retire early and it feels
like he's just gonna roll out Jeff Saturday again that.

USA Today Wire picked it up. People picked it up well,
because I think that's because everybody's worn out with the
