(01:25):
but we will carry the show here for the next
couple hours here on FSR. He wasn't getting a little
loose yesterday. Oh yeah, he was getting prime. Yeah, by
the way, warmed up, you know, tuned up, by the way. Uh,
it's going on over at the Quinn household. You get
a guest or something, get a brand new guest. Remember

(01:46):
remember the raccoon we had that was taking a dump
in our pool. Yeah, well it's back, although this time
it's polite enough. This thing. It absolutely blows my mind
how these vaccoons are. First off, if you'll recall, he
kept sliding in taking a dump in our pool, which
was an issue, obviously, right, you gotta shock, you gotta
clean it out, you gotta do all this stuff. But

(02:08):
on like the videotape watching him, he was a polite
little sucker. He would like he would be. He would
squat like over the pool, and he'd take a dump
in the shallow end and he'd like walk to the
other side to wash off his hands and feet. I
was like, all right, he's kind of like a polite
little fella, you know, he's got good hygiene. And so,

(02:28):
m we finally fixed that issue. But now there's one
back that the other night we ended up getting, um,
this pizza place that just open. It's from Miami. Everyone's
hyping it up. I think it's okay, but that's beside
the point. There was like one basically box that had
like a you know, a few different slices in it
that no one ate. And of course I didn't, you know,

(02:50):
I didn't put it out in the trash. Usually I'd
know better to put it into a trash bag, but
my wife didn't, and so she put it just in
the in the garbage can, sitting like that. Right. So
the next morning we come out and the pizza box
is sitting on top of one of the trash cans,
and I'm thinking to myself, Okay, there must have been
like a homeless person that came through and happened to

(03:12):
like reach through our fence and open it up like
our trash can and found this pizza box and ate
the rest of pizza. And I go, you gotta look
the security camera to see what happened, and she goes,
you'll never believe it. It's it's a raccoon. I was like,
I was the same one. She's like, I don't know.
So on tape. This raccoon, obviously, you know, gets through

(03:32):
the fence, climbs up, it uses this body to wedge
itself in between obviously opening up the trash can. But
the other trash can that's next to it, goes inside,
grabs the pizza box, pops back out, sets it up
on the next trash can, and then opens the lid
and starts eating pizza like like literally like he had
a dinner for one, like reservations of people in household,

(03:55):
and there was nothing left. By the way he ate.
There was probably five slices in that box, left from
like all the other pizzas we had ordered for the fam,
and he crushed every single one now and then and
left the box. Now was it? Now? I got to
ask you, so, why were there so many pieces left over?
You get you guys, don't do the whole cold pizza
in the next day or was it too many days afterwards?
He just said, screw it. It was too many days

(04:16):
afterwards at that point, so we were actually just kind
of throwing it out. But clearly the raccoon had other plans.
But don't you actually, because look, there's normal, like a
lot of people out there in certain parts of the country,
even people I know and could possibly be related to,
would handle raccoons in a different way. They would find
whatever was nearby and make sure that that raccoon never
existed after that night. But again, they've done some awful

(04:40):
things to our household. Growing up ate a bunch of
chickens about you know, eight or nine months ago, my
nephew had an entire coup of chickens that he was
getting eggs from and all that, and was raising these chickens.
Chicken literally ripped the fence apart, walked in and annihilated

(05:01):
about six or seven chickens, I mean, left almost nothing behind,
and then then showed up a couple of weeks later
in the tree to see if there was anything he
had left behind. And that was a mistake because my
brother's dog started barking and my nephew came out with
a certain device and took care business. And so they're

(05:25):
they're a terrible, terrible animal. They're they're awful. They destroy things,
they'll eat fish, they'll eat whatever they can get their
hands on. But this one not only will wash his
hands after taking a crap, but then walk over eat
a box full of pizza and leave it there with
no mess. Right, there was literally no mess. I mean

(05:47):
the only thing I wish you would have done was
just put the box back into the garbage can. I mean,
if he would have, if he would have covered his tracks,
I would have never known because obviously that once that
box in the trash can, I'm not looking at it
to see if, like anyone came in and ate the
remnants at that point, don't you just say, you know
what goods? At this point and things walk, It looked

(06:09):
like it was walking. I mean at this point that
thing might be calling into the show. That looked about
us as tellisive an animals I've ever seen, not only
can they walk, it would not. I would not put
it past him. They could drive stick shift, I swear
to god they do. They do amazing things like they're
they're incredible animals. Like when you watch the movie great
outdoors growing up. When they're digging through the trash cans,

(06:30):
you're like, oh, it's just a movie. That's not realistic. No, man,
they run impacts and they get big and they don't
mess around like if they if they want to get violent,
they'll get violent. And apparently Brady found one that you know,
was really rattled by COVID because he's all about cleanliness.
I mean, you should put a bottle of perel out
and just see whether or not he squeezes it into
his hands. Just see, just throw something out there and

(06:52):
see what he does. Why at this point I need
to just create like a little hut for him to live.
He should, I mean, although I think he'd be a
house guests. I mean outside of taking the dump in
the pool, which I think I guess at this point
he's learned his lesson because he hasn't come back, and
you guys don't have any like fish or anything in
the house that he would want to get after. Right, No,
we don't have a quepon. Okay our house I don't,
So yeah, I think you're safe, little nice little pet.

(07:15):
Now do you have to drain the whole pool? When
that happens and then refill it and clean it. How
does that work with that? But yeah, I mean typically
if it's enough of it, or if you can't catch
it soon enough, you probably should. Um we didn't. We
had to shock it, so we had to put a
bunch of chemicals in it, which you still really couldn't
swim it at that point, after we had cleaned it
out and everything and try to, you know, disinfect the area.

(07:35):
So something about you and raccoons, man, God, man, these raccoons.
It'll never be the end. It will never be. Although
this one again seems like it looks a little bit
more more of a house guest than anything else. Yeah, well,
I mean, listen, you know, New York's got a house guest.
Do you know what his name is? Daniel Jones. It's
gonna be sticking around for a little while. I don't
know if you were aware of that, but Daniel Joe

(07:56):
and signed a contract extension with the New York Giants,
and the general man manager of the New York Giants,
a fine Irish lad named Joe Shane, talked yesterday about
the signing of Daniel Jones and brought up something that
we kind of pointed out yesterday did they regret not
signing him too and picking up the fifth year option,
because it probably would have saved him a lot of money.

(08:17):
But here was the Giants GM talking about the move.
If I thought I was going to be here year ago,
I'd have done that fifth year. I'd have done the
fifth year option. But again, I knew from doing work
on Daniel coming out in the draft, the type of
person he was from everybody in the building, the type
of person he was, his work ethic, he has all
the physical tools, he's athletic, he can make all the throws.
There's a lot of positives that you know, twenty five

(08:40):
year old young man just displayed throughout the season. And
you know the upside, I got a lot of belief
in our staff and Daniel's work ethic, in their relationship
that you know, we'll continue to grow and Daniel can
get to the better if he's just at his floor
right now, I'm really excited about what his ceiling is
going to be. I mean very optimistic. Yeah, you better be,

(09:00):
after you just signed up to one hundred and sixty
billion dollar deal. I mean, the reality is it's a
two year deal with eighty two million coming in the
first two years after that that the Giants can move
on and really not face the consequences. But he brings
up a great point. I mean, they could have picked
up his fifth year option. You could understand, you know,
why they didn't, But again that's that's the situation that

(09:22):
they were presented with. And I guess I'm more surprised
that they didn't go the non exclusive franchise tag route.
And you know, they obviously had a hard time getting
a long term deal done anyway with his original representation.
He switches agents athletes first is able to either convince
him or the team or both to get a deal done,
which allows him to use the tag on sequon Barkley.

(09:45):
But I would have thought that you'd want to see
another year from him to see what he's capable of.
But they and by the way, I don't think it's
just the general manager and Joe Shane and Brian Dable.
I think it's ownership. I think ownership is all in
on you know, where Daniel Jones is at and where
they feel like he can get them too. But I

(10:06):
differ in that opinion, and it's not a knock against
Daniel Jones. It's just I think a year from now,
they're gonna be in the same spot, you know, kind
of wondering, you know, what's there ceiling? How much higher
can they get with Daniel Jones as their quarterback. It's
great they get sa Quon Barkley back too, and I'm
sure they'll try to work on a long term deal
to potentially reduce his cap hit, But it's hard to
invest in running backs because of the injury concern and

(10:29):
looking at you know, these draft classes that keep pumping
out some of these talented players that you can get
for much cheaper on a four or five year deal,
and that's where the Giants could have been had they
let sa Quon Barkley go test the free agent market.
So it's again, the Giants had a great season. Brian
Dable was the coach of the year. Really really curious

(10:49):
now to see, with keeping this all together, what they're
able to accomplish next year. I got a bad feeling feeling.
I think they're going to take a major step back.
I really do. It's tough division, right, I mean, you've
obviously got the best team in the NFC in Philly.
You got a playoff team of the Cowboys, and then
you've got Washington, which you know, depending on I thinking

(11:10):
a better quarterback play like that team's not that far
off either, and you just look at the way the
season sort of broke down for them. I mean remember that.
I mean we talked about a week one that game
at Tennessee where everyone thought, man, that's what we started
calling him dump truck nuts because it was kind of
a play on everybody talking about Brian day balls and
he had the balls to go for two. And is oh,

(11:32):
I thought you saw him at like a twenty four
seven fitness in the shower or something. Yeah, listen, I
usually have my eyes focused on other things, so I'm
not really you know, looking around, no gazing at some
of the you know, some of the other stuff that's
happening in the locker room there. That's now, that's not
that's personally not the way I do things. But again,
some people are different and some people are build different
in that way. But old dump truck nuts going for

(11:55):
two at that point, and you were the one that
pointed it out. I remember the morning after the open
slate of Sunday games and you said, let's let's be
honest here. The play was stopped. You know, and it's
it's not like Tennessee didn't read the playwright. I mean
it was stopped and then Tennessee still and they still
had an opportunity to win that game and they missed

(12:15):
a field goal. So like the season started off in
that direction. Then they beat Carolina. But if you go
through some of their wins and you look at it
after the fact, it's like, I mean, look, yeah, they
beat green Bay, but that was when green Bay was
stinking up the joint. I mean you look at some
of the other wins they had and it was almost
like they were narrowly getting by. They just feel like

(12:36):
one of those teams that does really great things. One year,
wins a bunch of games a lot of people didn't
think they would win. They even won a playoff game
at Minnesota, but that was against the Minnesota Vikings team
that a lot of people questioned how real they were.
And then they go to Philly and they get absolutely
smoked for a third time. I just I'm getting a
lot of two eighteen Chicago Bears vibes where it was

(13:00):
Matt Nagee Coach of the Year. You had a man,
the things he could do with Mitch Trubisky that nobody
thought he could do. And then all of a sudden
they came back the next year and Matt Naggie's throwing
everybody under the bus and getting people fired. I just
I get that vibe with the Giants. I look at
him and I go, like, if Washington lands a quarterback.
I mean, remember the game Washington lost against the Giants.

(13:21):
I think it was on Sunday Night football, or it
could have been Monday Night where there was an egregious
penalty on Terry McLaurin because the referee said he wasn't set.
That changes the whole outcome of that game at the end. Like,
there's just a lot of those moments last year that
I look back and I go, I'm just not a believer.
I love Brian Dayball, just not a believer next year
when it comes to the Giants. It is funny, you know,
as a player, I think and in any given season,

(13:43):
unless you're the best, and I think even you know
that the Kansas City Chiefs can probably look back at
a few games and say, hey, we got lucky here,
or you know, this kind of bounced our way. There's
always some luck involved, you know, there's always some lack
of luck, you know, for the teams that have losing records,
where it's either a call play the way the ball bounces.
It's just that's one of the fun things about playing

(14:04):
the game of football, and you just hope that you
know that special year, the luck is on your side.
So there's elements of that. But like I said, I'm
just curious to see how things all pan out in
the NFC East. I think you've got some really interesting
storylines to follow. I mean, Hurts has to sign a
long term deal. What does this roster look like because
they move on from so many free agents, in particular

(14:26):
on defense, you know how many guys are gonna be
able to are they gonna be able to bring back?
You lose Shane Stike and you lose Jonathan Gannon, both coordinators.
You know, hiring Brian Johnson within helps, but you know
they're still gonna be a learning curve there or a
transition period with new coordinators on both sides. You know,
does Kelsey come back and anchor the offensive line at center?

(14:48):
Does he retire? You know, he's a free agent right now.
They just they've got a lot of roster decisions, a
lot of things that happened this offseason that is gonna
make it difficult for them to get back to the
super Bowl. But they still got Hurts, they still got
a j Brown, Vante Smiths, a lot of talent. And
then you have to, you know, the same thing with
the Cowboys. Looking at now, Kellen Moore's moving on and
Mike McCarthy calm plays and depending on how that team,

(15:10):
you know, starts the season, you might be concerned about
what it means for Mike McCarthy's future and his job stability.
You know, that's the position that they're in now. And
then and then again you've got the Giants and Washington
sitting there. So it's just it's going to be a
really interesting division to watch because it wasn't too long
ago that that was a division that you could win
with a losing record, and now it was the best,

(15:32):
you know, one of the best of not the best
last year in the NFL. It's two pros and a
cup of Joe here, brought to you by Progressive Insurance.
Progressive makes bundling easy and affordable, getting multi policy discount
by combinding your motorcycle, RV, boat, ATV and more, all

move involving one quarterback and possibly two quarterbacks in the NFL?

(15:54):
We'll get the answers from our insider next year on FSR.
Be sure to catch live edition of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app. Two Pros
and a Cup of Joe here on Fox Sports Radio.

(16:15):
So coming up in about twenty minutes from now here
from the entire rac dot com studios, we are going
to take a closer look at another quarterback situation that
maybe it isn't getting a lot of the attention it
probably deserves, but things could be heating up here very
very soon. So again we'll have that for you here
a little over twenty minutes from now. But right now
we turn it over to Albert Breer, senior NFL reporter

(16:36):
at the MMQB. You can get him on Twitter at
Albert Brier. A friend of the show, Albert, How the
hell we feeling here on a Thursday morning? What's up
about I'm good, guys with having him. Just not much. Man,
we missed you last week. I know, I know, I
sleep a little later. Learn I'm at the Combine. Why
is that, Albert? I mean, I just feel like I

(16:58):
need my rest? You know? Is that what it is?
Or you booze it? Just trying just just just trying
to stay fresh, you know what I mean, Brady, let'sten Now,
there's a lot going on at the Combine. Come on, Hey, hey, Albert,
come on, tell everyone what really happens at the Combine.
Do you know what happens to the comboy? You are
only there as a player. Have you ever been there?

(17:19):
You've been there as a media person? Yeah, all the time.
And that's what I'm saying. It's a boozefest. Yeah, yeah,
it's um. There are some late nice to happen at
the Combine. I mean, Brady can tell you the rest
of that. Well, look, you know, you got work to do,
and sometimes, you know, people's medicals may come back late
late at night and you just happen to be sitting

(17:41):
at Saint Elmo's or whatever that place is called, and
you got to go over that stuff. Prime networking Networking,
the best is. So whether it's Super Bowl or whether
it's the Combine, I'm usually there. I wasn't at the
Combine this year, but I would run into Albert An
Alur would say, Hey, I'm not gonna come on radio bow.

(18:05):
I know the Bowl though, I made it in Purse
of the super Bowl and that was like mountain time. Yeah,
at least give points for that one. Yeah, you did
a job, all done and it was the hell Yeah,
I mean I earned I earned that Mulligan last week. Yeah,
you know. And plus it was a packed house. So
having to you know, fight through all the fans outside

(18:27):
of a radio row that we're there in that Oh
it's just Jon's just getting by your fans is hard.
Nuzy tell me about it. I mean I deal with
that every single day here on the way to work. Um.
All right, so Albert, can we get just get to
the straight to this here when it comes to Lamar Jackson.
How's this going to play out? Because everybody's throwing out

(18:49):
collusion and and it's there, you know, defending Lamar Jackson
and all the like. Baltimore wasn't trying to get a
deal done, and we were talking earlier like this is
just the business of the NFL. And yeah, and maybe
they just are saying, if you think we're low balling,
you go see what else is there and maybe we
can pick up this conversation another time. Yeah, And you know,

(19:12):
I you guys know, I'm never afraid to criticize an
owner or owners for that sort of thing. I just
I don't see it here whatsoever. You know, I think
this is a complicated, complicated situation. And if you're another
team looking at bringing in Lamar Jackson, you got to
check a lot of boxes to get to the point

(19:33):
where it's like, okay, like we're gonna go after him.
And you know, it's are you comfortable with his injury history?
Are you willing to run the sort of offense he's
going to need for you to run? Do you look
at the mileage on his body? Does that bother you?
Given that? How many years out are you going to
guarantee in the contract? It's just there are so many

(19:55):
boxes that you have to check. And by the way,
but there are a lot of boxes you have to
check on Tom right, you know, three years ago, and
that's why there at the end, all right, do we
lose them? Yeah, I mean at one point, it sounded
like Albert just turned into an air traffic control. It's amazing.
I didn't know he had a walkie talkie on hand
at all times. That's uh, that's something. Oh, I mean,

(20:17):
I think we've upgraded for him bigger's car and have
to deal with the digging bell every time. By the way,
I gotta find out, like is Albert did he live
in the Boston area or Bay Route? Like where exactly
is he? All I know is it sounds like he
lives in a heavily wooded area that's out in the
booties of the sticks. And what I don't understand is
like it's not like Boston's that big like surrounding the area.
Obviously my in laws are from there and get a

(20:40):
little bit outside of the city. You just lose cell
phone service, Like how is this possible? It's Boston, It's
like a major city in the US, and somehow like
four miles five miles away no cell phone service, Like
how does this happen? The best part is we we
roll in it. We're a little bit more spoon. I'm
not even in my I'm not even in my car
this time, Like that was weird. What do you go

(21:00):
for a walk. What do you What are you doing
right now? Albert? I'm sitting on my porch. Oh that's nice.
That sounds nice. It's a nice weather up. Yeah, sitting
on his porch just directing planes. I mean, we've got
tailed number nine five four niner coming in. It's it's
got Albert Breer. He'll be landing the plane. License play

(21:21):
two PC O J driver of the car. Alberty there, yeah,
swinging a miss well, I mean listen, uh it's lib radio.
I mean, this is what you get. You know, sometimes
you run into a little bit of these issues, and
you know who we need. We need to demand that
Albert gets a landline, like just we need a hard

(21:43):
wired landline in his house. I don't know if he
has one. That's what we need to make sure we
demand from now on from he needs to find one
if he doesn't have one in his house. Landlines are solid.
Albert e there. If you guys are capable of doing zoom,
I'm happy to do zoom upgrade. Um. Yeah, so I
don't know, I don't know what what the hell happened there,
but I think we're good now. It's all good, And

(22:05):
I cut out there, Like Brady asked, where, I so, yeah,
into it there. It is beautiful, beautiful morning and up
in the northeast. So so let me ask you this, Albert,
just to follow up on the Lamar Jackson conversation, do
you think he gets an offer from someone that's gonna
either appease him or surpass what has been rumored or

(22:27):
reported that the Ravens have already offered him. I think,
I mean, based on what we know right now, and
remember it only takes one team, I think he's gonna
get some interest. I think there are going to be
some teams that are going to call um next year.
Were those teams though, because so many came out like
right away saying hey, we're not interested. Look, I think

(22:49):
that there are a few teams that are just that
that that aren't going to do it right. I don't
think the Panther, I don't think the Colts are going
to do it. I don't think the Falcons are going
to do it. I don't think the Commanders are going
to do it like I take those teams that I
don't think those teams are going to do it like
the Raiders. I think the Raiders will probably make a
phone call, and I think the Raiders probably would look

(23:10):
at it and say, because Josh McDaniels really liked Lamara
coming out, I think that they make a phone call
and they say, all right, like we're willing to do this.
We don't want to do a full yearanteed deal, but
like let's talk and let's see if we can find
some sort of middle ground. I think at the end
of all this, Brady like chances are the Ravens are

(23:32):
going to be proven right. And we've talked about this
really for the last year, me with you guys, like
the Ravens have offered a top of the market traditional
quarterback contract and after two years. The reason the Raiders,
the reason the Ravens, the reason the Ravens are doing
this is because they want a conclusion. They can put

(23:52):
the exclusive tag on him. Then you know, maybe he
winds up having to sign the tender and then they're
right back here next year. This is basically the Raiders
that the Ravens saying enough. You know, the Ravens are saying,
whether you're on the team or not, we want to
know like long term, where we are at quarterback. And
I think they've figured this was the quickest way to

(24:13):
find a resolution and getting somebody else to write the
contract for them. And you know, I think in the end,
whether it's somebody else write in the contract or the
Ravens writing the contract, I do think chances are it's
going to be hard for Lamar Jackson to find the
sort of contract that he wants, the sort of contract
that Deshaun Watson got last year. Albert, do you know

(24:34):
any numbers are you've seen or that you trust any
of the reporting on just the dollar amount guaranteed wise
that Lamar Jackson turned down from Baltimore that he's seeking,
or just like how far apart are they on some
of the you know, some of the numbers and the
money that's being thrown around. Yeah, And I think sometimes

(24:55):
people make the mistake it's just looking at the average
per year and thinking that's all there is to it.
And I'm know you guys know that there's a lot
more that goes into these things, you know, But my
feeling is they they've been willing to go you know,
between forty five and fifty million dollars where the quarterback
market is now, how much that are they willing to guarantee? Well,
like I said, I've heard traditional quarterback contracts, so that

(25:17):
would tell you the first two to three years are
are guaranteed, and then after that there are some years
in the deal that aren't guaranteed, that are you know,
basically the tacto team options. So I think the Ravens
are willing to go you know, where the Broncos went
on Russell Wilson, where the Cardinals went on Kyler Murray, Like,
I don't think they're willing to go where the Browns

(25:39):
went on to Shaun Watson. And you know, now, I
think one way or the other, we're going to find
out where the market is, right, Like, That's what this
is about, is well Mark Jackson has been seeking what
he thinks his market value is for the last two years,
and by putting the non exclusive tag on him, the
Ravens are saying, okay, like, will find out what you go,

(26:01):
figure out what your market is and come back to us,
and then we'll see which way this thing is gone.
I want to transition to talking about the Jets and
their visit out to Aaron Rodgers. They obviously come back.
We haven't really got anything from the report there. Maybe
we're just kind of waiting to see what those details
will be Albert. But I could always feel like if

(26:21):
you go out and visit a guy like that and
you don't hear anything, it's probably not a good thing.
Are the Jets maybe a team too to consider if, like,
now that Lamar is potentially out there, do they go
all right, depending on how Aaron handles this, we might
pivot and go to Lamar Jackson instead. Oh yeah, No,
I think that the Lamar Jackson would definitely be one
of the guys the Jets would consider if the Aaron

(26:43):
Rodgers thing doesn't work out. And you know, I think
a lot of what's happening in New York stains driven
my ownership. But if you look at their football people,
there's also some ties there to Baltimore. Their general manager
Joe Douglas, you know, worked in Baltimore for over a decade,
started his career there. Chad I was into one of
the top executives. He's from Baltimore too. There's ties between

(27:06):
the Jets organization the Ravens organization where the Jets should
have good information on Lamar, and I do think too,
you know, again, to a large degree, ownerships pushing this
and if we know anything about Woody Johnson and looking
at you know, the twenty plus years that he's on
the team. Love star power, right, and so Aaron Rodgers

(27:26):
is obvious at the top of that list as far
as bringing the start in New York and making yourself
relevant again. But I think if you's if it's not
going to be Rogers, then you couldn't do much better
than bringing Lamar Jackson. So I think that they would
at least throw their hatton the ring. I don't know
how far they'd be willing to go as far as
the guaranteed money, but I think they'd absolutely make a
play for him. Albert Bridge joining us here on Fox

(27:47):
Sports Radio. Here it's two Pros and a cup of
Joe on fsor you can get him on Twitter at
Albert Brier, Senior NFL reporter at the MMQB. So, Albert,
you had a chance to sit down and talk with
Bears Brass about just sort of what the plan is
at number one in kind of the direction they're going
to go at the top of the draft. What is
your guests as to the compensation and what they're looking

(28:11):
at when it comes to trading back and players that
they're eyeing near the top of the NFL Draft coming
up next month. Yeah. So, um, you know, when I
talked to to Ryan Poles and Mattieberflus about this over
the weekend, they've said at that point three teams are
called and they viewed seven players as sort of the

(28:31):
top group in this year's class, like the blue chip players,
and then there's a drop off after that. That's important
because that can inform you as far as how willing
they're far, how far they're willing to drop down it
certainly you know, puts the Texans and play it, to
the Colts and play at four. I would say, you know,
the even the Panthers at nine, like you probably feel
fairly comfortable that you're going to get one of your

(28:53):
seven if you drop down to nine, because you know,
if four quarterbacks go in the top eight, say that
one of the position players is going to drop down
to you. So, you know, I think they feel comfortable
about where the market is, you know, the as far
as the compensation goes. Somebody had mentioned to me, you
know during combine week that if it's like the Colts

(29:16):
going up, they could see it being the sort of
deal where it's like two ones two twos, which is,
you know what the compensation was for Russell Wilson last year.
But either way, it looks like the Bears are going
to be able to set themselves up to put a
lot more players through free agency in the draft around
justin fields. And to be the great thing about that
is is like, if you're Ryan Paulson, Mattieberflus, you can

(29:38):
look at this and say, we're going to be able
to get more clarity on justin fields in two and
twenty three. And if it doesn't work and we're bad
again next year, maybe we're in position to go and
get Caleb Williams and Drake or Drake May in twenty
twenty four. And you know, from the people I've talked to,
at least there are a lot of teams feel like

(29:59):
if those two guys we're in this year's draft, those
guys will be one two in this year's draft. So
punting on this year's quarterback class, I don't know the
Bears see that as some big sacrifice. Any surprises or
anything you're looking forward to, Albert, we don't have much
time here, but as we get closer to the beginning
of the new league year, anything in particular, we should
be looking out for or I guess, you know, prepare

(30:21):
ourselves for. Yeah, you know, I think, Burdie, the big
thing is going to be like the teams looking creatively
at trades, you know. And I think, you know, you
may hear this team called on this player, this team
called on that player. Teams feel more i'd say liberated
to sort to to shoot their shot on players now.
And it's not like, oh, well, you know, these five
players and this team are untouchable. I won't call them them,

(30:42):
peoples will call them players, you know. And so I
think when you look at the landscape, you see a
free agent class, right, and it's not great, Like you
may have four or five players that are like top
shelf players, and then after that there's like a pretty
significant drop off where I think teams are gonna look
at and say, this guy's gonna get overpaid, this guy's

(31:04):
get overpaid, this guy's gonna get overpaid. And you know,
so if you're looking for better and help, one way
to do it is to you know, pun on free
agency and look at the trade market. So I think
as we've seen the last couple of years, and in
particular last year, with guys like A. J. Brown and
Tyreek Hill and DeVante Adams. Getting moved is you know,

(31:25):
teams being more aggressive about calling other teams about their
star players and maybe that leads to you know, a
star or two that you wouldn't think would be moved
getting moved next week. Get them on Twitter at Albert Breer,
senior NFL reporter at the MMQB always kind enough to
join us here on Fox Sports Radio every single week. Albert,
We appreciate it, man, enjoy the rest of the day

kind of makes for just a typical call in. We
we love it, like that's what makes you unique. Man,
who cares? It's good drama, right, Yeah, so we never
know what's gonna happen with Albert pops on. Yeah, it's
always fine, but we'll do it again next week. So

So we've got a little battle going on and Austin,
Texas for the Texas Longhorns Hook Them starring Quinny Yours
and arch Manning. The hell's happening here. I mean, we

(34:18):
got a good old fashioned quarterback battled down in the
lone Star State. There's part of me that wonders, if
the last name wasn't Manning, would this be a quarterback competition?
You know, would would they be taking a guy who
played last year for Texas, had a lot of hype
around him coming out as a five star, originally to
Ohio State before coming back to Texas. Part of me wonders, though,

(34:42):
if it wasn't arch Manning, if it's another highly touted quarterback,
if Steve Sarkisian would make this a quarterback competition. Now,
I think most coaches, most especially front office people in
the NFL would tell you they love when there's competition, right.
They feel like it breeds, you know, the best out
of players. I'm one hundred percent in agreement with that.

(35:02):
But there's also a thought too, like at times I
thought you Weres played well enough to be the guy
and say, look, he's going to be the guy going
in the spring. But that's up for change. If arch
Manning plays better, arch Manning can go ahead and take
this job from him. I do think there's there's kind
of a message there, there's something else there. I'm a
little surprised that they've basically described this as kind of

(35:24):
an open competition from people you've talked to, who's the
better prospect like long term, Well, it's hard because Quinn
Youers has really unique arm talent and he can make
some really special throws. When we were there in Austin
to see them play Alabama, if if he stays in
that game, they probably win. By the way, that was

(35:44):
such a fun game. It was It was a fun
game to be at. That was one of the cooler
um you know, first off, Austin in general is just
a great, great town, great city. I've lots to do there,
I've heard lot lots to do. Yeah, the environment's great,
but even for a football game, that's one of the
cooler places you'll go to be a part of games.

(36:05):
That particular game too, just against Alabama, Nick Saban, the
hype around it that made it that much more special.
But if you were stays healthing that game, they probably
end up winning. I mean, there are so many things
that went Alabama's way to win that game. But ultimately
that was what kind of led me to think, wow,
like like big game, big stage, you was really showed

(36:25):
out to a degree with some of the throws and
it kind of led me to say, Okay, like this
should be their guy for the foreseeable future, but how
are you going to manage Arch Manning when it gets there?
Arch comes in immediately? There says a quarterback competition, and
that's what's a bit kind of surprising. And again I
wonder how much of it has to do with the
fact that he's got the Manning last name and that

(36:46):
pedigree that comes along with it. Well, I also wonder
do you think any part of this is maybe Steve
Sarkesians trying to, you know, play nice because he doesn't
want to have to worry about Arch Manning potentially saying
all right, well then I'm out of here. Yeah, that's
the tough par I think for any guy that enrolls
early and you've got that May window for a transfer portal,
it becomes a real concern where once the player gets

(37:08):
there in January, if things aren't going on the spring,
he can bounce right out of there. There's no limit,
there's no limit or a cap on how many times
they can do it. And then that's where there should
be some sweeping changes to all this. I know the
the NCAA and there's a council, let's try to work
on this. But at this point they haven't capped it
and then and they should because otherwise it just lends

(37:28):
itself to be, you know, free agency unlike any free
agency we've ever seen before. That's that's pretty And that
was when you were coming, when you decided you were
going to Notre Dame. Could you imagine having the flexibility
of saying, well, hold on a second, if I'm not
seriously in contention for this job, I'll just go elsewhere.
We think about it this way, think about it this way.
A match is just being anyone right now is sitting

(37:49):
at their desk listening to our show, and they've they've
done well enough in a six months period where they
signed a two year, three year contract, whatever the agreement is,
and they just walk up to their boss ago, oh
by the way, I'm out, and they can do that
six months again from now. It's six months again from now,
and six months after that. Like that's essentially what's going
on in college football right now. And you can almost

(38:11):
hold it over their head like you know, this is
out here, like this is you know, this is the
potential of this happening. If we don't play nice here.
It is it's just it's crazy. But I don't know
if it's how bad the XFL is from from the
standpoint that listen, you know, some of the some of
the play is a little bit better than we've seen
from some of these other leagues, or just the presentation,

(38:31):
or maybe it was the Rock showing up in a
game warn Jersey before the season opener. I can't wait
for college football. I already got the itch. Already got
the itch. We're not even at Saint Patty's. That could
be something else, though, Yeah, that's a fair point. I mean,
I'm just saying that could be something. Burno can probably
help you with that, not outsidain round possibility. What do
you think that itch would possibly be? Burnoh? Any any

(38:52):
thoughts on that? Yeah, he doesn't want again. Fox Sports
