Speaker 4 (01:13):
Good morning? Many draft wee damn right?
Speaker 1 (01:15):
It is draft one of the great weeks. Would you
say this is the NFL Draft is the best non
actual game or sporting event event in sports that we have.
And that's very confusing sounding, but it's the only way
I could come up with it this early in the morning.
Do you think that it's the best act like non
(01:36):
game whatever I'm trying to say, point field say so,
like there's no game, it's just an event, and so
there's no real sporting event, just an event. But it's
about sports.
Speaker 4 (01:48):
Because clock, yeh, scoreboard, and there actually is a clock.
There is a clock. That's a good point the clock,
all right, But I would agree.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
You combine the NFL and call it football the top
two sports. It's the one night where they're all in
the same building or the same house rather, and you've
got everybody watching, You've got the way they've spaced it
out now where you got the first round and then
the other two rounds coming up. I can't even imagine
what it was like having a deal with some of
the other chaos that you guys went through, because back
(02:19):
in the old days people from some people maybe not
remember this, but it would be Saturday and Sunday and
it would be like nine hours each day. Yeah, that's
just a lot. I feel like they've done it. They've
done it the right way at this point. That's what
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (02:34):
I feel like now the letter rounds get kind of
lost in the mix, you know, like Saturday and sunny.
To me, it was awesome because you had this like
intense just two day. We're gonna get to see everything
happen in these next two days. Where now it's like,
all right, Thursday's first round, Friday, second third round, Saturday,
it's like, okay, we're still doing this. Okay, still happening.
(02:56):
I know they did it this way to make it
more for TV and kind of ramp up the ratings
and all that.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
Which it's great. It's great for the young man, it's
great for the league.
Speaker 5 (03:04):
To your point, it probably is kind of the coolest
non sporting event event.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
I mean, how would you consider the combine because the
combine has been blown up too.
Speaker 5 (03:15):
But I guess the the.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
What we're getting to is it's both the NFL.
Speaker 5 (03:20):
Like both the NFL's figured out how to make the
off season intriguing, and the Draft is probably the greatest
reality TV.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
There is, if we're really being honest with ourselves.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
Right, Yeah, it's fantastic and it's got everything you want
and you can gamble on it.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
That's always right, great job way to get that in there.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
I'm just letting letting everybody know there are options out
here if you want to.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Make absolutely bet on the draft. I mean, it's drama
playing out right. You get to know people's stories, you know,
you get the back the back end stories of how
they got there, and you know everything that they had
to accomplish and overcome and now you're here, You've you've
realized your dream. Yeah, I think the combine is is,
I guess, comparable, But I still think that the draft
(04:04):
kind of holds. I think it holds way more sentimental
value to to the to the viewer, and I think
that that's what would probably give it the edge.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
Yeah, it gets emotional sometimes, you.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Know, definitely guys be up there like crying and we
did Mama with here, you know, actually the classy.
Speaker 5 (04:22):
You know, other guys, yeah, other guys just like this
is what I expected.
Speaker 4 (04:26):
I've always expected this, you know.
Speaker 5 (04:28):
Now I'm here and I'm gonna kick everyone's ass like
it's It's one of.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
Those sometimes you guys do chipole A, you know what
I mean? Yeah, yeah, fall no one saw that. But man,
my breath was stinky.
Speaker 5 (04:40):
By the way, A shout out to chipole I had
a breado this past week. I just word, man, that
place fed me from the time I was in high
schools and adolescent still to me as an adult, like,
I just their food's really good.
Speaker 4 (04:54):
Man, It's just it's really good. I know, I know.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
And Jonas the button well, first off, first off, Joanas
laughing with Burto like he's Berto is the funniest part
of all it is. But go in, hit the button, Burdo,
hit the button, Berto, like what thank you?
Speaker 1 (05:13):
We tell you something that that imitation stuff don't fly
in Oxico, Mexico.
Speaker 5 (05:20):
He's lying now because I've been at Cabba San Lucas.
I saw chapole and that was the first thing I
thought to myself, was.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
Like wait a second.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
And there was a line out the door, and there
was a whole bunch of people in there.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
Yes, there was Joan Is talking about laughing at Berto
laughing at it, like, yeah, what's this guy talking about?
Speaker 1 (05:42):
You just don't get it. You don't know what that
world's like.
Speaker 5 (05:46):
I'm just saying, man, that burrito and it was the
size of a small baby.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
It provided me great comfort in that moment.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
I don't know how they wrap him. Sometimes they can't.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
They have to do a double rap. I've watched them, dude.
I used to get so much.
Speaker 5 (06:01):
I swear to you, they'd take three of the sheets
that they take to rap and the rap all together
that they would fall apart.
Speaker 4 (06:05):
In the bag. That's a lot hips too, and six tacos, see,
I used to I used the tortilla chips to eat.
They eat like the spillage.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
You gotta be able to scoop and score with the
spillage like that. That's fat boy action right there, though.
That's you know, and I'm fighting through that. I'm getting
caught at that fat boy magic. I'm getting better with
my fat boy in this. But but you know what,
that is fat boy action is where you got that
tortilla chip ready to catch the spillage?
Speaker 5 (06:35):
Man, it's a live One year, he did a freestyle
and and and the name of the freestyle was that
that's that fat boy magic.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
And he like literally talked.
Speaker 5 (06:45):
About all the things about being an offensive lineman and
then the things they could do while.
Speaker 4 (06:50):
Being that size, and then he talked about stuff like.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
That, Yeah, there's things you can do with your belly
that that a normal person cannot do.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
How would you know you don't have one anymore?
Speaker 2 (07:01):
That is true, It is gone. I am actually starting
to look like something. I will admit that.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
It's just the most will blown and the most overblown
issue that I've ever heard talked about. You're trying to
pretend like you're not the fact.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
Will not minimize me and my my fat struggles. No,
you won't.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
You're trying to make it.
Speaker 5 (07:21):
Hold him back, Jonas. You're trying to hold him down
so you can't tell a story. Let him tell a story.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
Yeah, I mean, I'm just saying, man, don't don't be
coming out attacking me and not having all of the
facts when you come out to attack me.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
That's You're never fat.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
Yeah, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Don't don't be posting that ass on Twitter, don't be
talking crazy about like that, don't be calling don't be
trying to call me out Jonas to really know the truth,
because I'll set you straight.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
Hey, And by the way, I'm not your bra Okay,
So when you talk to me here on the air,
you need.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
And you're not Berto's br So stop doing that, yes,
saying Bob.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
Right, So let's make sure we get all of this
cleared up.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
By the way, any other dust ups on social media there, Brady,
you were the talk of the town over the past
several days. Any other issues from America's favorite network who
likes to complain about everything because they can't come up
with content anything else?
Speaker 4 (08:22):
Fly?
Speaker 5 (08:22):
Yeah, the weird thing is just again, how much like
tread and traction that God considered.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
We talked about it before. No, you know, you get
touched on it before. You'd be surprised.
Speaker 5 (08:35):
I shouldn't say surprised, but just the people who had
reached out and talked to me about everything.
Speaker 4 (08:41):
So I'll just put it this way.
Speaker 5 (08:43):
I know, I know I didn't think anything I said
was controversial, and I'll stand by that. So it's and
I know I was told, I know the facts and
I know all that, so it is what it is,
you know, and there's some things that's to be all
in all honesty, Like I knew that I didn't want
to talk about in regards to a prospect because you
(09:03):
want to try.
Speaker 4 (09:04):
To protect him to a degree, you know.
Speaker 5 (09:06):
And even on DP like kind of pressed, so, well,
what about with interviews?
Speaker 4 (09:10):
And I said to him to say, well, the S
two tests.
Speaker 5 (09:13):
And it's because I I knew, I had heard what
the results were and I didn't.
Speaker 4 (09:18):
I didn't want that to be a.
Speaker 5 (09:19):
Focal point because I don't I've never taken the test.
Speaker 4 (09:23):
I don't I don't read in that stuff. So you know,
it's Look, it's draft week.
Speaker 5 (09:28):
Hopefully you know everything goes is and I think it's
going to go and I think CJ.
Speaker 4 (09:34):
Strat would be off the board quick. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
Well if he's not, I want you held accountable because
you really cost this man.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
Millions technically, because he's gonna technically if if it happens
that way, it's only what he stated it was.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
If that was what it was, that.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
Was the reason why, Right, it's not what he did,
and it's kind of what somebody else didn't do you the.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
Man's livelihood there, Brady one, because you know he's not
going to get drafted now because of you answering a
question a couple of times, once a month and a
half ago, and the other on a podcast like now,
and now his entire draft stock has plummeted because of you.
Like that's how this works. Everybody's you gotta have you
gotta have a fall guy. You gotta have a blame game.
(10:18):
And and Brady Quinn was part of the blame game.
Speaker 5 (10:20):
We say, these agents are tricky, you know, they hide
in the shadows. They they you know, they just try
to like, you know, find some of the blame for stuff.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
And I think ninety five percent of the agents are
dirt bags bags. I know, one of what is ball bags.
I'm just not a fan of agents.
Speaker 1 (10:42):
Man, what other cut of bags?
Speaker 4 (10:44):
I mean, I gave you enough bags. I gave you
enough bags.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
And when I ended it with ball bag, now, I
think that that really really drove home the point of
what I was trying to get home in terms of
the bag. Yeah, so there you go, huh. I mean
that would be my percentage. I think five percent there's
probably five percent really really good dudes, good agents out there.
I just I just, you know, I don't know. One
(11:11):
day we'll talk about it. Yeah, one day we'll talk
about my whole strong stands on agents and how to.
I just I just never understood how a person can
turn into somebody's uncle, dad, best friend, cousin, and and
they weren't there for anything during during their come up.
(11:33):
You know, it's just all of a sudden they became
this most important figure too to the player. Now, I'll
say this, it could be cultural. It could be a
cultural thing. I don't know. If it's like that, would
you know other other races of athletes.
Speaker 4 (11:50):
I'm just being honest. I mean, if you want, I mean,
it's Monday. You want me to shoot from the hippo?
You want me to you want me to piece shoot?
You want me you want me to use a blow dart?
You know you want you want me to spit ball?
What you want me to do? You enjoy the blow?
Speaker 1 (12:04):
When he spun the chamber a dinner like my mind
was blowed.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
Like the time with new and improved ways, man, everything
got delivered the ammunition. I'm just saying, I don't understand
why people don't understand that agents work for them. It's
like it's the weirdest thing because it's like you would
think that these athletes work for the agent by the
(12:29):
way the relationship plays out, like the way the demeanor
of agents are and the way things are handled. It's like, huh,
does the kid work for the agent or does the
agent work for the kid? Like who's like where's the
clout here? Like there's there's like this whole clout thing
going on. And I just don't like it, man, I
just I really don't like your agent works for you
(12:51):
and and you shouldn't have like this whole you're my
brother or you're my my father figure, Like all right,
you switched from your college coach to your age agent
to being your father figure and all his old other crap.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
Like I just don't like it, that's all.
Speaker 1 (13:05):

Two Pros and a Cup of Joe Fox Sports Radio,
Brady Quinn, LeVar Arrington, Jonas Knox with you here you
can I got with us as always on the iHeartRadio app.
Coming up in a little over twenty minutes from now
from the tire rack dot Com studios. We do have
ourselves a winner and a loser at the same time
in the NFL. It's the same person. We will explain
here again that a little over twenty minute from now,
(15:16):
but we might finally have some movements and momentum on
one of the most drawn out storylines in recent NFL history.
And know it's not Lamar Jackson's contract standoff with the
Baltimore Ravens. It is the Aaron Rodgers will he finally
be in New York Jet that started picking up some
steam here. You're not a big fan of this topic,
labar with Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
Come on, you know, I'm a fan of all of them. Yeah,
I mean, I was just giving, you know, what I
felt would be an interesting response to to what you
were saying. You know, I mean it was kind of fake.
It was fake.
Speaker 4 (15:50):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
Well, but there's nothing wrong with being you know, artificial,
unless it's terf. That's what I know.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
You know, I'm so glad that you would say something
like that, Jonas, cause you know what, artificial turf on
football fields cost us thirty two percent.
Speaker 4 (16:06):
More non contact me injury.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
From what I hear, American grass seat company Pennington is
on a mission to ben turf fields Q. That's right,
you know, with the hashtag flip the turf movement. So
you know what, go to Pennington dot com slash flip
the Turf now to learn more and sign the petition
for teams to hashtag flip the turf to real grass.
Speaker 4 (16:31):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (16:33):
So, according to Ian Rappaport of the NFL Network, the
Jets and Packers have re engaged in trade talks after
a dormant couple of weeks. So yeah, so they are
now talking again. They're on speaking terms again when it
comes to trying to get this trade done. So it
feels like we finally have some momentum here. And I
don't know if it's going to happen on the Pat
(16:54):
McAfee show starring Ajhawk, but point being there, Brady Quinn
that apparently the Aaron Rodgers to the Jets chatter starting
to pick up a little bit of steam here again. Finally,
I mean, this is.
Speaker 5 (17:06):
That next point in time where you say, Okay, this
thing can extend closer to the season. But once the
first round of the draft, the second round on, all
that happens. If we don't get the trade compensation that
the Green Bay Packers want and the Jets are willing
to give up it, then you know, pushes to next year,
(17:29):
which I think would be a mistake on the part
of the in my opinion, at least the part of
the Packers. You know, you'd like to really evaluate Jordan
Love and you'd like to be able to do so
in getting something and getting him someone that will help
him this year in his first year in full time starting.
So I just again I've said this repeatedly about the
(17:51):
first the first round pick that Jets have this year.
If that's what the hang up is, there's no first
round pick is part of this deal.
Speaker 4 (17:58):
I just I can't.
Speaker 5 (17:59):
Believe that's what's holding it up for the Jets for
a piece on their roster that could help take them
from being last in the division to being potentially first,
potentially winning the AFC, potentially winning a Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (18:15):
So I don't know what the hold up is. But
again that's just me. You know.
Speaker 5 (18:19):
Obviously, apparently a lot of front offices value the thirteenth
overall pick more, whether it's for a year or two
or maybe three whatever, however long Aaron Rodgers is going
to be there, you know.
Speaker 4 (18:30):
I just I kind of see it a little different,
you know, given the Jets history.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
I just think, if I'm Green Bay, I got to
get rid of Aaron Rodgers A s A P. I mean,
and maybe I'm just saying that in the same way,
but maybe a different way than what you just said.
Speaker 4 (18:45):
You gotta get rid of Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 2 (18:47):
You gotta, you know, you got to get rid of them,
and you got to let you got to allow for
your your franchise and your fans to move on. I
just think the longer that you this drags out, you know,
the conversation, the conversation pieces grow, the narratives continue to
expand within within Green Bay, not New York. You don't
(19:13):
you can't. You can't miss something that you never had.
You know, you can't love something that you never had
the opportunity to have and love. So if it doesn't
work out, the Jets are in no different a position
than what they were in before all of this took place.
But you still have the drama that's going to continue
to grow. And in Green Bay, and we've already seen
(19:37):
they can't stand up to Aaron Rodgers. Green Bay does
not have anyone in that front office that can stand
up to Aaron Rodgers, So why not just get him
the hell out of there? Like, that's what I don't understand.
He spanked y'all in the media, and one he won.
(20:00):
Nobody came out was like Aaron Rodgers needs to shut
his mouth and just play football. Nobody was like, Aaron
Rodgers is horribly wrong and inaccurate with what he's saying.
All these different things that Aaron Rodgers had to say.
When he came out with his flamethrower going into training camp,
a couple of training camps to go, nobody had anything
to say. Then he comes in with his Nicholas cage.
(20:21):
Look this year, nobody had anything to say. The dude
is bulletproof in Green Bay, Wisconsin. And it just doesn't
make sense to me why you would allow this to
continue to drag out, because in some type of way,
shape or form, you're still going to look at it
as this is pro Aaron Rodgers. It's pro Aaron Rodgers.
(20:43):
Aaron is going to win in the end. You know why,
because he's already got his contract. So so whatever it
is that's going to play out, it's going to play
out in a way where Aaron Rodgers is going to
come out on top. Whether it ends up being a
San Francisco that slides in there and pull was a
quick one, whether he ends up in New York like
(21:03):
like initially anticipated, even if some ways somehow he ended
up back.
Speaker 4 (21:10):
In Green Bay. He's going to win.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
And you know how bad that makes Green Bay front
office people, the GM, the president. You know how bad
that makes those guys look doormats.
Speaker 4 (21:23):
I just don't understand, get him the hell out. At
what are you doing?
Speaker 1 (21:29):
At what point are you no longer waiting around for
the Jets to stop haggling over whatever draft comp it's
going to be, or you know, assurances that he'll be
there two years instead of just one. At what point
do you really start to kick the tires on Okay,
we tried this with San Francisco before, we tried it
a couple of years ago. I mean, I understand it's
(21:51):
inside the conference, but I just wonder if people there, like,
we're on the game in Wisconsin, we're on ten seventy there.
I wonder if Packer fans and even the front office
at this point are like, look, he's going to play
for at least two more years if we can get
a better deal and a couple of first round picks
from the Niners. Yes, it'll be future first because they
traded away a lot for Trey Lance, and we can
get into the whole Trey Lance aspect later on. But
(22:13):
at what point, if you're the Packers, you're like, screw it, Yeah,
we'd like to we'd rather trade him to the Jets
so we don't have to potentially see him a couple
of times over the next two years. But we got
to get this deal done. We got to move on
to Jordan Love. And if the draft comp is better
for the Niners, I just I don't know why they
wouldn't at least entertain that.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
There's nothing better than getting rid of Aaron Rodgers. At
this point, I could care less what team.
Speaker 4 (22:38):
I wish he would have showed up to offseason workouts.
I mean, for starters. He does have a bonus in
his contract.
Speaker 5 (22:43):
I think it's fifty thousand or something to that degree,
but it's money he's going to end up forgoing, i'd assume.
But if he shows up, it immediately would send a
message that you're not going to mess around and not
get the steal done because now I'm a liability to
you in the event that I get hurt. There's an
(23:05):
awkwardness now that's going to play out. And so if
you don't get this deal done sooner rather than later,
I'm not gonna play nice. I'm gonna show up and
throw a wrench in this entire thing. Now, you know,
I don't think Aaron wants to do that, because I
don't think he wants to create a stir or cause
a stir. I think he's got a lot of respect for,
you know, everyone in Green Bay, but if things got
(23:26):
nasty like that would be one of the fastest ways
to get Green Bay to be like, Okay, let's just
get this done so we can both go our separate ways.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
Would you guys rather see him with the Niners or
the Jets Niners?
Speaker 5 (23:37):
I agree, yeah, I mean, it would be so much
fun to see him in a Kyle Shanahan system.
Speaker 4 (23:43):
It just it would.
Speaker 5 (23:45):
But like, I would want this for the Jets too,
because I feel like that's an organization that, you know,
it just hasn't had as much success, right, and you
find a way to put him in there. He walks
in as the best quarterback in New York Jet history
walking in the door day one starter.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
I mean, yeah, I look at it from what's gonna.
Speaker 5 (24:10):
Unless you count FARV, but I still think Aaron's had
a better credit your.
Speaker 4 (24:14):
Career at this point.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
Yeah, I would agree. I just I think if we're
looking at what would be the best for this show,
him with the Niners would be fun because then all
of a sudden, them being second on the Super Bowl
odds list going into the next season makes a lot
more sense. And I wouldn't be surprised if some people
felt like they would be the Super Bowl favorites if
you had Aaron Rodgers, even more so than Kansas City.
(24:37):
But that would be fun to watch in Kyle Shanahan's offense,
as you said. And then also just to live in
a world where the Jets were so bullish on the
fact that no, no, we got everything lined up, he's
going to be here. We'll go sign a wide receiver,
and we can be patient, we can wait this thing out.
And then they've got to come back to Zach Wilson
and say, hey, man, Paul G's for all the stuff
(24:58):
you heard this offseason, let's try and make We want.
Speaker 4 (25:00):
To need you.
Speaker 1 (25:01):
Listen, if you could bail us out this one.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
We want to need your services, the unique skills that
you bring to the table.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
You just want to live in that world. I just
want to live in a world where they got to
go back to Zach Wilson and say, really sorry about
everything that happened and the whole Mike White stuff. We
were just flirting that we weren't really interested in making
him our long term answer quarterback obviously he's now with
the Miami Dolphins. I just want to I want to
live in a world where the Jets blow this, because
I think that fan base is going to come on.
Speaker 2 (25:27):
Do you think they go back to Zach Wilson or
do you think that the option they don't? You kind
of burn the bridge with that at this point, right, like,
what do you do? And nobody like this is the
first time Zach's probably being.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
Discussed unless you want to make a run of Lamar Jackson. Oh,
I don't know if that would be planned, b but
I just yeah, that'd be uh So that's it should
be interesting to see what we got this week. But
if man, if that could happen, that would be fun
for everybody. Uh not Jets fans, but everybody else. It's
two pros and a cup of Joe. Here on Fox Sports,

sports or entertainment.
Speaker 4 (28:04):
Good thing.
Speaker 1 (28:05):
The guys are here to bring you in case you
missed it, and for that we turn it over to
our executive producer, Lee Lap.
Speaker 6 (28:14):
Guys, in case you missed this over the weekend, the
NFL has suspended a lab five players for violating the
league's gambling policy during twenty two season. Good morning, good
happy Monday to everybody. Brady lvar Jonas, good to see y'all.
NFL suspended five players for violating the league's gambling policy
during the twenty two twenty twenty two season, including four
(28:37):
Detroit Lions, uh, one of them being, of course, Jamison
Williams and mister CJ.
Speaker 1 (28:43):
Moore.
Speaker 6 (28:44):
Now, the funny story I'm bringing to you guys now
is that CJ. Moore still collects his one point four
million dollars signing bonus seven hundred thousand. He's already collected
another seven hundred thousand and September. This all could have
been avoided if they kept him on the roster. But
because they cut him and he didn't violate any of
the other for forfeiture excuse me, didn't violate any other
(29:04):
four prospects in his contract, he still collects at one
point four million dollars.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
I'm good for him. The first thing you should do
is go bet it on something.
Speaker 4 (29:11):
Hmm.
Speaker 1 (29:12):
Screw this this one year suspension for gambling on games
and had no impact on any games whatsoever.
Speaker 4 (29:19):
Come on, it should place one bet.
Speaker 5 (29:23):
I think it's a bit of a slippery slope, and
that's why they're setting a precedent. The interesting thing is
some of the some of the players weren't even betting
on football, but it was was it because they were
at the facility and that's where they tracked them when
they placed the bet.
Speaker 4 (29:35):
Is that what I'm understanding.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
There's like a zone like if it's the team facility
or the bus or anything like that.
Speaker 5 (29:40):
Yeah, I mean, you can't be in a in a
you know whatever it make that bet. I just it's
it's tough only because it's an easy fix on the
on the.
Speaker 4 (29:49):
Side of the player. They know better.
Speaker 5 (29:52):
You've been talked to about this constantly, so it's it's
hard to not sit there and go, come on, dude, like,
I know you're trying to get the bet and before
or the game and you're probably at the facility working
out or doing something, but I don't know.
Speaker 4 (30:04):
It's I think the NFL have.
Speaker 5 (30:06):
Used as a slippery slope and they can't afford to
allow any of their players or people involved people for
people to be thinking that they're placing bets and then
they could they could potentially be manipulating games.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
I think every NFL player should bet one bet, so
that's they put pressure on the NFL because if they
all do it, what are you going to do?
Speaker 4 (30:26):
You know? What I mean like bringing replacement players.
Speaker 5 (30:29):
We're back, baby, you to bring those wide receiver.
Speaker 1 (30:33):
Really, come on, just give me, give me a couple
of snaps just on just on plays. You're even surprised,
really well. I mean if their pop for gambling, I'm screwed.
Uh So that wouldn't I don't know that. I would
necessarily be the guy to go to there and that
would be the only restriction for me not playing in
(30:53):
the NFL. It's just the gambling regulations. By the way,
the CJ so Stanley berry Hill and Jamis and Williams,
where the guys that got suspended six games, it's because
they were betting on college football. It's like, okay, man,
so you can't bet on college football, all right. It
just the whole thing's weird. I understand why they're doing it.
(31:14):
I just think a year suspension is way too harsh.
But let me do something shorter and then if they
violate it again, then you know, lay the hammer down.
But I just feel like losing a year of your career,
you know, when people are trying to figure out and
navigate through this stuff. If it's not impacting the game,
it just seems like it's a bit much, but hey,
what the hell? Do I know what else we got
(31:34):
lee guys.
Speaker 6 (31:35):
In case you missed this over the weekend, Phil Jackson
is getting some backlash for comments he made on the
Tetra Gramaton tech a Gramaton with Rick Ruben podcast talking
about the reason he stopped watching the NBA back in
twenty twenty.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
Take a listen.
Speaker 7 (31:49):
The Lakers won, actually they won won that year, And
do you feel like it just made little of the game,
like it made it like a side show.
Speaker 4 (31:57):
What do you think it was that turned you off?
Speaker 7 (32:00):
It was even at slogans on the floor, on the baseline,
it was catering. It was trying to cater to an
audience or trying to bring a certain audience into play,
and they didn't know it was turning other people off.
You know, people people want to see sports is non political.
You know, we've had we've had a lot of different
(32:21):
type of players that have gone on to be like,
you know, Bill bradle is a senator. Number of baseball
players been representatives and senators and political, but their politics
stay out of the game.
Speaker 2 (32:34):
Yeah, yeah, I mean, and in the true essence of
what he's saying, he's actually correct. Yes, I mean, fundamentally speaking,
you're you're told all throughout, you know, playing athletics, you
stay away from certain things, and religion is one. They say, politics,
(32:56):
you know, and race like you stay away from those things,
and so hey man, you could disagree with him, but
fundamentally speaking, he's probably one hundred percent correct.
Speaker 4 (33:08):
There were a lot of people that were turned off
by a lot of the stuff that was going on.
Speaker 5 (33:12):
Okay, let's use another sport. We don't have to just
stick to basketball. We could say, look at the NFL.
I'm not saying the ratings took necessarily a big hit
or anything, but it did cause a stir when Colin
Kaepernick decided that he wanted to protest.
Speaker 4 (33:25):
You know, it was one of those moments where he
used his platform.
Speaker 5 (33:27):
To talk about what he felt like was wrong in
the country and whether you would, you know, a career disagree,
it's his right. That's why we live in a country
that you have the ability to do that. Now, that
doesn't mean that he wasn't going to face repercussions for it,
and obviously things are the way they are for that reason,
but it was controversial with that. I mean, I think
(33:49):
LaVar is touching a point that we all know sports
or sports, they're meant to.
Speaker 4 (33:53):
Be kind of a getaway.
Speaker 5 (33:55):
Escape, Yeah, an escape, and when you start bringing in
some of the things that people are trying to escape.
Speaker 4 (34:00):
From, they're like, no, no, no, don't don't impact this. This
is this is my escape. This is my getaway.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
So and if it's not my getaway, then then I'm
not away from it.
Speaker 4 (34:11):
So what am I watching it?
Speaker 1 (34:12):
That Also, that also doesn't mean that you don't that
the topics and discussions aren't important. It's just it's just
sometimes you want to watch a game. That's it.
Speaker 2 (34:20):
We don't even have to get that, like like everybody
wants everybody to explain everything to that detail, Like you
don't have to go that deep. Like the bottom line
is I can high five a person at a game,
hug a person at a game, kiss a person at
a game because of the jubilation that you feel for
(34:44):
the team that you both have in common, and not
say it got dang word to that person the next
day at the grocery store or at the seven eleven
or even at your job, like I don't even know you, Like, wait,
aren't we weren't we high five and yes, Yeah, we
were high fiving for the Steelers. Steelers don't play till Sunday,
(35:06):
so I'll see you Sunday.
Speaker 4 (35:08):
Well, I'm not going that length. I'll just put it
like this, that's true, believe me.
Speaker 5 (35:13):
Well again, look, politics and sports have never mixed overly well,
but the NBA's greater problem. And I don't even know
if it's a problem. It's just to me, at least,
the way the game has changed. It's just not as
entertaining as it once used to be. And I'm not
trying to take anything away from the skill of the
players in the way they're able to shoot the way
they do, but it's more spread out the defensively, I think,
(35:37):
taking away handschecking and the physicality of what basketball can be.
Speaker 4 (35:41):
To me, that's what I used to enjoy about it.
Speaker 5 (35:44):
Like there were certain unwritten rules that I remember when
I was growing up, where if you went to the rack,
you're gonna have to carry that thing like a football
and you might take some shots on the way, but
then you go and you find a way of making
the basket. Like that's just how it was, and I
think a lot of that is no longer part of
the game. Which to me personally makes it less entertaining
to watch. It's more of a style of game thing
(36:07):
that I think anything else load management, turning on the TV,
not even be able to get to see some of
the best players in the regular season.
Speaker 4 (36:13):
All that stuff, to me is.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
The most bother. They need time off too, I mean
they can't get a little bit of time off, you know,
take a couple of days off.
Speaker 4 (36:21):
Here, all that time off and he still can't play.
Speaker 1 (36:26):
Yeah. By the way, the lot of the playoffs this year,
they're off to kind of a weird start because you've
got ejections and injuries. It just seems like that's the
big storylines. And you've got a bunch of teams that
were thought to be legitimate contenders that may be looking
around going all right, we got changes to make, so
but yeah, Kawhi and Paul George that did.
Speaker 4 (36:45):
Not end up.
Speaker 3 (36:49):
