Speaker 2 (00:33):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Cherry Read one fifty
a Cherry Depending one. Was it skirt revenue?

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Yeah? Bumped that? I spun now you we lost a hubcap?
Dun your back saying what's that? Straight from Garrette baby everything?
Yether's a word scir What is every skirt that's like
when you like pull off or you like make a turn,
like you know, like you hit that that that gas
and you like pull.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
Off is like, oh you mean like drive recklessly? Is
what you mean are you talking about?

Speaker 1 (01:14):
I mean some people do, okay, some people could skirt
definitely can be responsible, Cherry Red. Just make sure you're
skirt responsibly out there, you know with the cherry grid.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Uh it is. It is two pros and a cup
of Joe here on Fox Sports Radio. It's a great
point lead. Yeah, and if you do, make sure they're
on a pair of tire Rack tires. Oh, two pairs
of tire rack tires. As we bring this show to
you alive here from the ti rack dot Com studios
ti rack dot com, we'll help you get there an
unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road has a protection

(01:49):
at over ten thousand recommended installers ti rack dot com.
The way tire buying should be so uh, we are
going to have the usuals on this show. But one
of those usuals in fact, be a little something we
do here. But it's all going to be determined by
one LeVar Arrington. All right, he is going to take
center stage now because LaVar, I don't know if you
Why am I saying that? Of course you're aware of this,

(02:11):
of course you are of the PGA Championship is getting underway.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
Hell yeah, let's go, Levary.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Grip it and rip it.

Speaker 5 (02:21):
You are guy, Grip it and sip it.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
It's the h you want to hype it.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
It's o kill in Rochester. I mean, so, LeVar, the
reason I bring this up is because this feels like
this isn't this is an opportunity, uh for us if
we wanted to to potentially have ourselves a little drawing
names out of a hat at some point later, maybe

(02:49):
later on this hour, many of the.

Speaker 6 (02:50):
Wa Yeah, come on, I was close.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
I was close.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
Anyone, That's right, Eddie Garcona, my.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Guy Kapka didn't win. He was for he was up
the first round.

Speaker 6 (03:02):
Yeah, Kapka.

Speaker 5 (03:04):
Man, is that is nice that Brooks is.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
Like the linebacker In all seriousness, though, what happened was
exactly what everyone to Live Tour didn't want to happen.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
Is he got through fifty.

Speaker 4 (03:18):
Four holes and I was like, well, he's the guy
everyone's bet on him, and then literally fell apart in
the last eighteen.

Speaker 5 (03:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
Uh that's a bummer.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
Whatever that means. Yeah, Well, the PGA.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
Tour plays seventy two holes in their tournaments and Live
only places fifty four. So basically, the justification outside of
money for why guys left the PGA Tour to go
to Live was they also feel like they can play longer.
They don't have to play as much because they're not
playing as many tournaments and they're playing less holes. When

(03:49):
they're playing those tournaments. So there was kind of a
thought to it, like this should help prolong their careers.
And meanwhile, it actually hurt them in that instance because
they couldn't say staying through seventy two holes of play.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
I got a question for you guys on this subject.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
It's a serious as cancer. Okay, that was a bar. Now,
somebody somebody did that. I hope thought you dropped that
in there. I think it was rock camp.

Speaker 5 (04:13):
All right.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
So here's the question. Ever, I've always wondered this coming
out of college, when you got past the eleven to
twelve point in the NFL, did it feel different on
the body in comparison to what you were playing throughout
the entire time of growing up playing football? The extra
five six games in the NFL? Did it feel different
for you guys?

Speaker 1 (04:33):
I mean, I remember the rookie wall. I remembered a rookie.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Wall, so that's a real thing.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
I felt like the college seasons flew by, like I
don't know if you felt that way, LeVar, but I
remember like they were quick right, Like you'd be a
training camp. You're like, ah, this stinks, and then all
of a sudden you're like, man, we're almost done the
season like that, that just was like a snap of
the fingers. Yeah, the NFL season because of you know,
the off season training ot is mini camp and then

(04:58):
you like you get to the by you're like, yeah, leep,
we've got eight more nine more weeks and look you're
kind of more having blinders on. But I'll put it
this way, It's it feels so long at times that
like when the season ended, like I remember, I would
be up at one am working out because I didn't

(05:19):
know what to do with myself because like the next
day I was like this is this is odd, Like
I literally have been in this cycle of you know,
waking up, you know, doing rehab, training, watching film break
like you got in this cycle of doing that over
and over and over and over and over again that
you then like I didn't know what to do with
my time. Like I was like legit depressed and I

(05:40):
was just like man, like I like people wanted to
go some other place. I was like, well, I didn't
really play it much for a rookie year, like I
you know, we had success, but we didn't.

Speaker 6 (05:47):
Make the playoffs, so I wasn't sure how to feel.

Speaker 4 (05:49):
And then and then you're like, all right, I got
all this energy, like I want to go out and
do something, but I'd rather just be practicing doing something
to get better in football.

Speaker 6 (05:58):
And so it was just an odd feeling because but
the season was so long.

Speaker 4 (06:02):
Like I was just I was like my whole body
like would wake up the morning, it's like, all right,
let's go into the.

Speaker 6 (06:06):
Facility, let's do this, let's do that. But there's no
one really around.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
It's my guy right there working out at one am.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
I just think there and in cold weather places, you
fill that wall way differently, especially for the simple fact
that we didn't have an indoor facility. So you're in
you're in December and you're you're just practicing and you're

(06:35):
going out there and it's rain, sweet hail, snow, you know,
if it's slush out there, if it's whatever, it is,
no matter if the inclement weather is is. The temperature
has dipped and it is literally freezing cold outside. You're
going outside for over two hours, close to three hours,

(06:59):
and your practice, you're doing your walkthrough, you're doing your
same exact schedule. I remember my rookie year. They did,
they did well. They fired north after the Dallas game.
So we had Rubisky and Rubisky try She's Rubisky, tried
to be more of a tried to be more of

(07:22):
a player, a player coach. But it just kind of
there were so many vets on that team, my rookie
year that it's just I don't know that I got
a fear opportunity to see what a real situation with
a coach would play out. How that played out. I
mean you're talking about we had Darryl Green on the team,

(07:44):
Bruce Smith, Bruce Smith, Mark Carrier, Mark Carrier, rookie year.
Let me let me keep going, Let me keep going.
Deon Sanderson, Prime Times, Marco, Marco, Coleman, Mark Big Daddy,
Will Dad, the shamed one himself, Dana Stubblefield, Damon Stubblefield.

(08:06):
We had Corey Ramer, Andy Hack and had Brad Johnson.
We had Jeff George, Jeff Gams. We had Larry Centers,
Larry in the middle of Everything centers. We had we
had Stephen Davis Steven We had Irving Friar, Irving Friar

(08:34):
at that. Yeah, yeah, I mean we when you're talking about, uh,
a veteran Light Layton team, it was as veteran star
studded Layton as it gets, and there were alpha personalities
all over the place. So I don't. I don't really.

(08:57):
My rookie year was almost like Blur and the coaches Dad.
We had turg We had Mike Turgovitt, who hated me
my rookie year. He's like, you're just a freaking piece
of s rookie, like you are the biggest piece of
Like he just just get the f out of the way.
You are in the fing way.

Speaker 3 (09:19):
Can I ask you a question real quick? Was an
Irving Friar on the eighty six Patriots.

Speaker 1 (09:24):
Yeah, Bro, what the.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
Hell's he doing still in the league in two thousand?

Speaker 7 (09:28):
Bro?

Speaker 1 (09:28):
They were all the same age, like why are you there?
Singling out Irving Friar, like Bruce Smith was there. Bruce
Smith was there.

Speaker 5 (09:37):
Irving Fryar was fifty five at that point.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
Hey, bro, and yoked up. He might have been the
most yoked up dude on the team. Yoked up you're
talking about yoked up to the gills. Irving Fryar was
yoke up what he got for whatever it was. My
g was diesel. Anyway, It was just I don't know,

(10:04):
but I will say this even though I felt the
rookie wall. I played my best football in the second
half of the season, like I figured out why turg
was was upset with me and which by the way,
our defensive coordinator was Ray Rhodes. We had Ron Meeks
as our defensive backs coach. We had we had Foge

(10:29):
Phasio as a linebackers coach. I mean it was when
I say Dan Schnyder bought like he went out and
purchased every single thing in person and piece that he
thought would make this team a super Bowl champion team.
That so happens. They were all everybody was freaking old stept.

Speaker 5 (10:51):
From me and Chris, every vintage car.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
Every this is a performer, Bring them in, bring them
in prior.

Speaker 3 (11:04):
How do I think about it? Yeah, bro oh Man,
Well listen, I've hit a wall. You don't know why
that is? On What the hell's going to happen with
the Washington Commandos? Speaking of the Washington Commandos, I'm tired
of this story. Would they speed up the process? You
got Josh Harris talking about all the revenue that's going
to come in once the sale is finalized with tickets

(11:26):
and eventually getting a new stadium and sponsor deals and
et cetera, et cetera. What the hell's taken so long?
Why do we need updates at every single term. I
don't feel like this happened with the Denver Broncos sale.

Speaker 5 (11:39):
Maybe a little bit.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
I don't feel like this happened when Jerry Richardson sold
the Panthers. It felt like a pretty quick process. What
the hell's taken so long? Can we get this thing
over with? I'm tired of it?

Speaker 4 (11:50):
Yeah, I mean, it sounds like as some of the
more details come out to this whole transaction, that there's
some concerns, you know, a number of concerns.

Speaker 6 (11:59):
You know, the Harris Group apparently at least.

Speaker 4 (12:03):
Reportedly, has taken on more debt than typically is allowed.

Speaker 6 (12:09):
For a new franchise owner in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
They've got a bigger number of limited partners, and the
reasoning behind that could be varying. I mean, it could
be one of many, honestly, but there's a little concern
over that as well.

Speaker 6 (12:25):
And there's what's called an earnout for Dan Snyder and
all this.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
And I guess the proposed thought too, that is, as
soon as this team changes hands, that there's gonna be
revenue flooding into the Washington Commandos just because Dan Snyder's
not there anymore. And so there's a thought that, you know,
even though he'll be away, he's going to have the
opportunity to still be making money off the team after

(12:49):
the sale, just because his name is no longer associated
with it. So look that this transaction would have been
a lot easier if Dan Snider would have sold a
Jeff Bezos because he's flushed with cash. I mean, I
think he just bought a five hundred million dollar yacht
that he was seen most recently sun bathing with his
Uh was it his girlfriend now or.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
Is his wife married now?

Speaker 6 (13:09):
Who are they married now?

Speaker 1 (13:10):
Besos?

Speaker 3 (13:11):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (13:12):
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4 (13:14):
But anyway, the point is that's not the direction Dan
Snyder wanted to go. The Harris Group instead was able to,
you know, lock things down. But that doesn't mean it
doesn't come with some challenges and making this transaction happen.
And I'll be honest with you, I think this is
going to be more of the same moving forward. As
you look at the NFL, I think one of the

(13:34):
biggest disparities that you're going to see is the differences
in you know, financial wealth of the owners and how
that's going to impact their teams and roster building. As
you know, we talked about the Joe Burrow contract yesterday.

Speaker 6 (13:47):
There's the phrase cash.

Speaker 4 (13:48):
Over cap and you're able to do what Stan Kronkey
and the La Rams did to win a Super Bowl
a couple of years ago, when you could pay out
a bunch of signing bonuses and spread them out over
the course of you know, longer term contracts where you've
got avoidable years attached on the back end, if you're
willing to spend the cash, if you're willing to sign
them up for that to reduce the cap hit, to

(14:09):
make it all fit within the structure of this salary cap.
And you can, again, when you've got deep pockets, you
can again, you know, assign these players to contracts where
they've got a ton of guarantees because you can lock
that money up at escro and not have to worry
about it. There's other ownership groups that they don't have
that luxury. So I think that's one of the things
to keep an eye on moving forward, is as you

(14:31):
see some of these teams with franchise quarterbacks with certain organizations,
you know, look at if they're able to sustain them
and keep them because some.

Speaker 6 (14:41):
Of these owners, they don't have as much money as
the others.

Speaker 4 (14:44):
Right, It's just it's just a different world you're dealing with,
even though they're all NFL owners and incredibly rich compared
to everyone else, compared to the thirty thirty one owners
and obviously the Green Bay Packers, which is publicly owned,
there's there's obviously a pecking order.

Speaker 1 (14:59):
W are moving, Things are moving towards whatever is going
to happen to take place. I mean, there has been
a lot of there's been a lot of communication to
to alumni, and they're working to bring bring guys back.
So and they're aggressively working to bring them back.

Speaker 3 (15:21):
So please tell me at lease tell me RG three
is coming back.

Speaker 1 (15:24):
Please love them to play? I mean story. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:32):
By the way, I just looked up this Jeff Bezos
yacht he was on with Lauren Sanchez. Sorry I couldn't
think of right, No, good franchise, Yeah, good for Someone.

Speaker 4 (15:42):
Was also showing me some photos of him like twenty
years ago, and he looks like a hell of a
lot younger now and like he's on something.

Speaker 3 (15:51):
Oh, wouldn't you be too? I take everything.

Speaker 4 (15:54):
Why I think whatever that rocket's on going out of space.
You know that's what he's saying, because he looks drastically.

Speaker 3 (16:02):
Oh yeah, I would take every bit of HG H
on the planet. I would take and just see what happens.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
You know, some would say homeboy is doing pretty good too.
You know he's doing all right and post post being
being let go in Arizona.

Speaker 3 (16:19):
You know Cliff Kingsbury, Cliff Kingsbury seems like he's doing on.

Speaker 6 (16:23):
Jonas has been diving hard into that.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
Yeah, I mean, horse he wishes he was diving hard.

Speaker 3 (16:30):
Trust me, if I was doing this show, I can
tell you that right.

Speaker 1 (16:32):
Now, Salad guy, he was more of a salid guy.

Speaker 4 (16:37):
He'd he'd be right in between the right between it
in the middle.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
You would be work. You would probably because you're a
big radio star, big radio host, Like you're the handler
of of myself and and and young.

Speaker 3 (16:52):
Q handler zoo.

Speaker 1 (16:55):
No, that's the reason, that's the reason why you get
that situation. It's because you are positioning yourself as the
handler of us. That's why you're more attractive. I mean,
you dig what I'm saying, Like you drive to show
you handled the business of what we have going on,
and that makes you super attractive, and there you go.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
Let me tell you something.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
And then they end up moving to la and they're
walking around and they have a leash and on the
end of that leash is like a Lamborghini or a Ferrari.
It's a car that you wouldn't be able to afford. Really,
and let me take this back, you wouldn't want to afford,
but you can afford because you don't spend any money.

(17:38):
So there you go, she's walking that Lamborghini and yeah,
and you're happy.

Speaker 5 (17:44):
Are stressed out, but you're happy.

Speaker 3 (17:46):
Anybody that made a joke about Cliff Kingsbury over the
last year you ought to be ashamed of yourself because
that guy's walking around with millions of dollars and a
full fledged five alarm rocket ship.

Speaker 1 (17:59):
I mean, I'm generally not one to like comment on,
you know, those type of you know things, but I mean,
he's definitely, he's definitely. I look on him favorably.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
As Yes, I have so much respect for that man
and what he's accomplished in his life over the past
several months.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
I bet he sleeps so well like a baby at night,
probably like very few people probably get to experience what
it feels like to sleep like a baby. I mean
I do. I'm happy like I'm happy like. I feel
the same way about my situation. I feel like I won,
but got Lee. Cliff Kingsbury, you know, I'm just good

(18:45):
for him. I'm just I just think you You're a
hero to many. That's what I'll say.

Speaker 3 (18:50):
It is Two Pros and a Cup of Joe here
on Fox Sports Radio, LeVar Ring, Brady Quinn, Jonas NOx
with here all right to Coming up next, We're going
to find out if there's a potential big time trade
on the verge of happening in the NFL. It's yours
next here on FSR.

Speaker 8 (19:06):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 3 (19:20):
Two Pros and a Cup of Joe Here on Fox
Sports Radio. Coming up in a little over fifteen minutes
from now, we are going to have some funny major
major sporting events, got some issues going on. We are
going to fly by all those issues and make some
picks here. So we'll get into that for you again
coming up in a little over fifteen minutes from now
on Fox Sports Radio. So looking forward to that. By
the way, got some problems at the PGA Championship. Yeah,

(19:44):
currently closed thirty six degrees frost issue.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
Cliff Kingsbury, I got that.

Speaker 9 (19:50):
No, he.

Speaker 5 (19:51):
Definitely does that.

Speaker 3 (19:53):
And you know what we do have though, We do
have Albert Breer, senior NFL reporter at the MMQB. You
can get them on Twitter at Albert Breer a B.
What's happening, Happy Thursday?

Speaker 7 (20:04):
What's up, guys, what's going on?

Speaker 3 (20:06):
Just hanging out, you know, just talking football. I was
going through your mail bag and I feel like I'm
gonna get I'm gonna get yelled at this, but.

Speaker 5 (20:16):
Leave it alone.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
The bar just I'm sorry.

Speaker 5 (20:18):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (20:19):
I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

Speaker 5 (20:21):
Sorry about that. Aby all right.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
So I was going through Albert's mail bag and I
noticed that when the subject of a potential trade of
one Quinn Williams, who's not claiming which team he's the
current defensive tackle for, was brought up, you basically shut
it down right at the start.

Speaker 5 (20:40):
But is there, how does this end?

Speaker 3 (20:43):
For Quinn Williams and the Jets because it feels like
this sort of popped up and it's feel good for
the Jets and Aaron Rodgers there and we got him
who's been frustrated about his current situation and then picking
up the fifth year option and not giving him his
long term deal.

Speaker 9 (20:57):
It ends with a paycheck, Like I like, I just
I don't see any other scenario here for the Jets,
you know, like they you know, it's normal that a
negotiation could.

Speaker 7 (21:10):
Get tense, you know, a few months before the season
because you may not have a deadline that creates real movement.
And look like the.

Speaker 9 (21:17):
Jets aren't a position where they're going.

Speaker 7 (21:19):
To be offloading people. They weren't a situation sort of
like this a couple of years ago with Jamal Adams,
but you know, at that point they had a first
year head coach and you know, Joe Douglas was retooling
the roster. This is a vastly different situation they're in
right now where they're very much and win now mode.

Speaker 9 (21:37):
And you know, on.

Speaker 7 (21:39):
Top of that, I think you know, like you have
to remember this is sort of a time for players
to rattle cages, you know, It used to be that
you would see this sort of thing during training camp.
Well now because of the hold that rule that more
or less prevent guys from from doing this in July
and August. If you're trying to make a point and
you're a player, you almost have to do it in

(22:01):
April and May and June. And generally what that means
is staying away from the off season program. Sometimes it
means saying something publicly about your contract situation. And then
I guess this is sort of this is sort of
this is sort of like you know, the you know,
shooting the nuke is now in twenty twenty three, it's

(22:22):
scrubbing your social media of any mention of your current employers.
So look, I don't think this is that much different
than Deebo Samuel last year. I think eventually they get
it done. And I think with you know, a negotiation
where the numbers are where they are on this one,
I think it was always going to be a little
difficult to find a common ground.

Speaker 4 (22:44):
Albert, you talk to teams when a player changes his
Twitter bio. Are people just running around like their hairs
on fire and in the front offs of the organization,
or are they laughing at I mean, I think I
saw I think I saw the Vice Kings most recently
changed somebody on their Twitter handle, not including Dalvin Cook,

(23:04):
almost like, oh, is that a message to Dalvin Cook
and his agent? Yea to what's happening. I mean, talk
to you about the behind the scenes of how this works.

Speaker 7 (23:13):
It's like the gift. That's like the gift from the office, right,
like where Michael Scott's running around and they say it's happening,
know whatever, right, I don't know, I mean I think
that probably laugh about it, like I I just think,
you know, I mean, looking like in Clinton Williams defense, like,
you know, he's a fourth year player. This is the
first time being through this. And for most players who

(23:34):
are you seeing that big second contract, they're sort of
learning things as they go and in some cases listening
to their agent on things like this, you know, And
so you know, I just I don't think, you know,
in May or June, you're panicking, you know. I think
if you get to July and there's not something done,
and you wonder, is it going to be awkward when

(23:56):
we get a training camp. Could the guy actually stage
a holdout as much money that would cost them. Like
that's where I think things are a little more serious,
you know.

Speaker 9 (24:05):
But when we're.

Speaker 7 (24:06):
Talking about May and Jeer, I mean they're not even
going eleven on eleven or seven on seven yet, you know.
So you know, I think that they trust after having
had QUINL. Williams in the buildings for four years, that
you know, like he'll be ready to go, you know,
when training camp starts. And I don't think May or
Junior is any time for anyone to panic on either side.

Speaker 1 (24:26):
By the way, Abe just give us the latest on
the commander's you know, situation and where they're at.

Speaker 7 (24:37):
Yeah, so there are really like two big steps that
need to need to happen here, you know. The first
one is the Finance Committee needs to approve the structure
of the deal. Now, there was some hope that that
would happen, made a regular, regularly scheduled meeting last week
in New York, and there was some hope that the
committee would, you know, that the deal would be ready

(24:58):
for the committee to approve last week.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
It wasn't.

Speaker 7 (25:02):
But I don't think that there's any reason to think
that that means anything's out of line. The timing didn't
line up, and you know, that makes it less likely
because they didn't vote last week that anything will be
ready to go to the owners next week in Minneapolis
when they have their spring meeting.

Speaker 1 (25:20):
You know.

Speaker 7 (25:20):
That said, like in the situation last year, you know,
and and and that one, the timing didn't really match
up with any of their meetings, so they had like
an emergency meeting in July or I think early August
to approve the Waltons to buy the Broncos. So everything's
still on track there, and you know, I that the
transition is going to happen and going to happen before

(25:43):
the season, And obviously that means everybody in that building,
you know, from Ron Rivera to Marty Hernie to Martin
May who all those guys are gonna under evaluation this year.

Speaker 4 (25:53):
You know.

Speaker 7 (25:53):
I think the big thing is just kind of the
the ownership, the new ownership group taking those two final
steps and getting approval from the finance committee and then
getting from the ownership And you know, it's going to
be interesting about this one, guys. And this is sort
of getting into the weeds of it, is that there
is a rule that the primary owner has to you know,

(26:13):
have you know, thirty percent of the price in cash,
and that has to be liquid, and you know, I
think that that's that's a little bit of a difficult
ask of anybody based on what the price of these
teams are right now. And so I think, you know,
if you want to really get inside baseball on it,
maybe the most interesting piece left is whether or not

(26:34):
the NFL has to adjust its ownership rules to accommodate
this this purchase and what that might mean for NFL
owners going forward, you know, down the line when teams
like Seattle, you know, maygo for sale over the next
few years.

Speaker 3 (26:48):
Albert Brier joining us here on Fox Sports Radio, senior
NFL reporter at the MMQB. You can get them on
Twitter at Albert Brier. Out from people you've talked to
in and around, you know, league circles, What is the
overall ofinion of the peacock one hundred million dollars rumored
price tag for the one playoff game coming out this
this January.

Speaker 10 (27:09):
Well, there's some people who don't have their jobs anymore
that probably aren't happy about it, right, you know, I
think it's sort of another sign of how the NFL's
recession proved, you know, and that's you know, I tweeted
something on this earlier this week.

Speaker 7 (27:21):
That's why when you hear the NFL talk about economic realities,
don't listen to any of that. You know, reality, the
economic realities don't really apply to them. Yeah, this, I mean,
more than anything else, is is basically making money up
here out of thin air. They this is separate from
their broadcast deals. And you know, behooves the NFL to
have every one of its games on the over the

(27:44):
air networks because that's going to attract the biggest audience.
But for any of the over the air networks to
get a game streaming product, they got to give the
NFL something to do that. And that's where one hundred
and ten million dollars comes from.

Speaker 1 (27:56):
Is that.

Speaker 7 (27:57):
You know, the the NBC is more or less saying
the NFL one hundred and ten million dollars just to
move that game from NBC onto Peacock, which they hope
is going to push people to subscribe for Peacock and
benefit them in the long run. And the idea this
sort of goes back to you know, Thursday Night Football
ten years ago, when you know, Fox and NBC and

(28:18):
CBS wanted to buy the Thursday Night packe to put
it on their cable networks, and the NFL basically said, no,
we're not going to let you use the Thursday Night
Football to prop up you know, CBS, this Sports Network
or FS FUN or NBC Sports Network. We're going to
use your over the year network to prop up Thursday

(28:39):
Night Football. And so to move the NFL off at
spot on that sort of thing where they want their
games going to the widest audience is the network's got
to give something. And that's sort of the way this
plant gear And yeah, let's all hope the stream holds
up when there are tens of millions of people on
it in January.

Speaker 6 (28:57):
Yeah, that's what's going to be most interesting.

Speaker 4 (28:59):
Although you know, I mean, I guess you could use
the Thursday Night Football as a case study, and I
think that that's held up pretty well. What's what's interesting
to me is so they're going to charge what four
ninety nine for Peacock and very similar to Amazon's approach
with Thursday Night Football. You know, they you know, they
got they saw a surge of people who signed up

(29:20):
right before the first Thursday Night Football game that they
were they were streaming, and that's the thought here, right,
but which I think the other thing that people don't
take into account is you get the opportunity to promote.
It's marketing, it's it's a number of things, and probably
lastly is streaming allows you to learn so much more
about your consumer.

Speaker 6 (29:41):
You know, there's so much more.

Speaker 4 (29:43):
Data attached to that because of our phones, and when
you decided to pick up Peacock, you basically say yep
to all of the rules, regulations and things that are
set forth, and then at that point NBC knows everything
about that consumer base, right, I mean, there's a lot
more behind it than just the economics to it.

Speaker 7 (30:01):
Is that sure to look at us, sure, and that
helps you with that revenue too, right, Brady, I mean,
I you know, like you think about like golf is
a great example of that. Like where you know, golf,
the viewership isn't nearly as as wide as you know,
football or baseball or baths, but you know, but you
know who you're reaching. You know, like an advertiser knows
with the golf audience exactly who they're reaching, and so

(30:24):
you know, it's sort of the same concept as that,
like where you're you're taking a much wider audience, and
you're saying, how can we reach you know, different segments
that the audience, and obviously at the data you're able
to collect and and and looking at streaming subscribers probably
allows you to tailor things a little bit more if
you're an advertiser, to reach certain audiences. So that's certainly

(30:45):
a part of it. And then you know, obviously for
the you know, for the networks themselves, not having to
go through a cable carrier, you know, going direct consumer
and being able to profit that way as a benefit too.
So yeah, I mean, I think we all know that's
sort of where it's going. Anybody who has kids who
you know, watches how their kids consume things. You know,
I don't think my three kids are going to be

(31:06):
cable subscribers. So that's you know, that would be the
last piece of it. It's just kind of being prepared
for where everything is going to be ten, twenty thirty
years from now.

Speaker 3 (31:14):
It's crazy. Albert Breer, senior NFL reporter at the MMQB.
You can get them on Twitter at Albert Brier. Al
We appreciate it. I was going to ask your thoughts
on Fox's big announcement. Obviously, TCU and Colorado, but they
made sure to point out the game Ohio State Michigan
is also going to be featured in its usual spot

(31:35):
there at the Big House in ann Arbor. So we've
got plenty of time to get your thoughts on the
preview of that game. Is it going to be three
in a row? Is it not going to be three
in a row from Michigan? So curious to it?

Speaker 1 (31:44):
I did it?

Speaker 7 (31:45):
Just said that that sounded like males running across the
shockboard three in a row?

Speaker 3 (31:51):
Are Are you concerned? Does it feel like Michigan's going
to get concerned?

Speaker 7 (31:55):
Course I'm concerned. Yeah, I'd be concerned. We lost twice
in a row, of course I am.

Speaker 1 (32:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (32:00):
Well, listen, I've got.

Speaker 7 (32:02):
We're going to South End, but we're going to South
End a couple of months before that.

Speaker 3 (32:06):
Oh are we thinking, uh, maybe a little Brady Breer
kind of duel here, a little Ohio steet.

Speaker 7 (32:13):
Okay, I think it's September twenty fourth. I think that's right, right, Brady.

Speaker 5 (32:17):
I believe.

Speaker 3 (32:18):
So it seems like that could.

Speaker 6 (32:19):
Be at the beginning of the season.

Speaker 4 (32:21):
Yeah, So then it was like, Hey, we'll host you
guys for you know, week one when you come here,
but we'll need some time you know when we go
up there, so we can't schedule it at the beginning
of the season.

Speaker 3 (32:35):
It is Albert breer A. We appreciate it, thanks for

major change in the NFL. There's something that's taking place
over the past couple of day and it's gotten people
to start thinking differently about the National Football League. We'll

(34:04):
get into that for you again a little over ten
minutes from now here on FSRU. Before we get to

No, No, go back before that.

Speaker 3 (34:41):
What do you mean what is PGA Championship you mean?

Speaker 1 (34:44):
Okill?

Speaker 3 (34:45):
Yeah, Okill, sorry about that. Whatever lawn Hill. We'll clean
that out.

Speaker 1 (34:49):
I mean I was filling.

Speaker 3 (34:50):
We do all right, So but point is it is
actually it is actually.

Speaker 6 (34:55):
The stuff so that Lonnie Edwards the other week.

Speaker 3 (34:58):
Yeah, whatever lawn Hill. You know, same thing. A lot
of moving parts here, so o kill. And I know
Brady gave you some bad information he said Oaklawn. I
want to clear that up. It is Okill, No, it's
just you in Rochester and we are on the great
affiliate Fox Sports twelve eighty in Rochester right now. And

(35:18):
there's a lot of people that are going they're saying
to themselves, you know, the PGA Championship, it's not happening
because there's this frost delay and they're not going to
be teeing off until later on. And we're going to
do what the entire sport of golf can't do. We're
going to proceed as scheduled. Screw the weather delay. We
got your frost delay right here, everybody, and we are

(35:39):
going to pick names out of a hat.

Speaker 5 (35:41):
We've got a.

Speaker 3 (35:41):
List of names here, the top ten favorites according to
our friends of DraftKings to win the PGA Championship. And
we are going to go around and we are going
to draw names out of a hat. Eddie Garcia is
our defending champion. Eddie Garcia won last time around during
the Masters. Felt like there were some shenanigans. Maybe he
pulled some stuff here. So we've got our PGA Championship

(36:06):
theme music here, and so let's h we walk over
to Eddie Garcia. Now, who's going to dry a name
out of the hat to try and go back to
back and this fun little well, you know, some people
feel like you knew what name you were picking and
you kind of grooved it to win that one.

Speaker 5 (36:21):
Don't be jealous just because I can pick names out
of a hat. Really well, yeah, well.

Speaker 3 (36:26):
Let's see what you got this time, brooks Kopka, Yeah,
here you go. Levar's X. All right, So now lead
the lamp is making me trek over, which is much
more difficult now with the studio.

Speaker 5 (36:42):

Speaker 3 (36:44):
Oh, come on, Eddie, that's unfair, all right, So Roberto
you are next up. Roberto Flores is going to make
his selection. He is drawing out of a hat. He
is now reached in. So Roberto, Uh, what name we
got here? Jason Day?

Speaker 5 (37:01):

Speaker 9 (37:02):

Speaker 3 (37:04):
Yeah, he's on Hot Streak thirty to one, thirty to one,
brooks Kopka twenty two to one for one. Eddie Garcia
Lee to Lap. You are next up here on the program,
So lead to lab. What is what is your selection here?
And he's actually using Todd's hand to make this selection here,
So Lee.

Speaker 5 (37:22):
You Lee, what do we got?

Speaker 2 (37:24):
I've got Scotty Scheffler.

Speaker 3 (37:25):
All right, the second plus seven hundred there for Scotty Scheffler.
Is he the favorite? I believe he's the favorite, isn't he?

Speaker 6 (37:33):

the studio here. I will drive about het. Yeah, I'm

long at all. That's heard that before Xander screw you, Eddie,
Xander Shoffley. I've got Xander Schoffley at eighteen to one.
All right, So LeVar Arrington reach into the hat here
if you could.

Speaker 1 (37:55):
Oh yeah, let me touch it. Let's go before let
me put my hand on, up it around, let me
move it around in there.

Speaker 5 (38:02):
Okay, all right, what we got? All right, I got LeVar?

Speaker 3 (38:04):
Well you know we got but I'll go ahead and
i'll read it for Yeah, I'll read it for LeVar.

Speaker 5 (38:09):
He gets nervous in your hand, Cameron Young.

Speaker 3 (38:13):
Okay, yeah, all right, so Brady quick, Brady Quinn is
now reaching his hand all the way. I mean, listen,
this is like this six to four jacked frame, reaching
his hand all the way in all right, shuffle around,
he's he's shuffling around, all right. So, Brady Quinn, you've
got Patrick Cantley at sixteen. Well I'm seeing sixteen to
one on DraftKings. But nonetheless, there we go. There are selections.

Speaker 6 (38:36):
Here last night, so you look at the updated ones.

Speaker 3 (38:38):
Yeah, so so Young, good answer, Cam Young? So sorry,
but was that what did you say there?

Speaker 6 (38:46):
Brady updated those last night?

Speaker 3 (38:48):
Lead to Lap says these are updated and any.

Speaker 2 (38:53):
I think these were the odds before seven o'clock times.

Speaker 5 (38:56):
Yeah, okay from last on DraftKings.

Speaker 6 (39:00):
