Tom Brady doubles down on staying retired but take that with a grain of salt. The Commandos may excel with Eric Bieniemy at OC but it’s a shame he doesn’t have a head coaching job. The Celtics stick with Joe Mazzulla and the guys look ahead to the weekend with “Over/Unders.”

Speaker 4 (00:34):
Cherry Rare one lock thenness, this is eh. I'm doing
six down the one wizz. Yeah, Cherry Reehead welcome in
its hour to two Pros and a Cup of Joe.
I'm LaVar Arrington, got my man Jeff Schwartz with me.
We got a lot to get to. Uh, we'll talk
Eric b Enemy, We'll talk Celtic sticking with Missoula. We

(00:55):
got over and Unders coming up the round out the hour. Well,
first we're want to get to Tom Brady and his
doubling down on retirement. Yes, we are broadcasting live from
the ti rack dot com studios. Ti rag dot com
will help you get there and Unmatched selection fast, free shipping,
free road hazard protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers

(01:19):
tire rack dot com the way tire buying should be
all right, Jeff, your boy, Tom Brady, Man, he's doubling down.
He's letting everybody know how he feels about this retirement.
I think we got a little sound for you, so
let him tell you yourself.

Speaker 5 (01:38):
I'm certain I'm not playing again, so I've tried to
make that a clear and I hate to continue to
profess that because I've already told people that lots of times.
But I'm looking forward to my broadcasting job at Fox
next year. I'm looking forward to the opportunity head with
the Raiders, and we're in the process of that, along
with the other different things that I'm a part of
professionally and in my personal life. Just spending as much

(02:01):
time with my kids as I can and seeing them
grow up and support the different things that they have
going on. And that's a very important job, and I
take them all pretty seriously.

Speaker 4 (02:11):
That was one on one with Sports Illustrated, Tom Brady
coming in and doubling down hardcore Jeff Schwartz, what say you, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
No one believes him. It's all well intentioned and I
get what he's saying, right, but he already retired once
he came back. Okay, so like there's already the you know,
the the evidence that he might still want to do
this at some point. Now, of course, again, this is
a different situation where he's been retired for a while now,

(02:42):
look as a while compared to the first retirement, and
he has you know, we've seen him more in the
public sphere as far as in kind of enjoying life
that we've seen him of ever do before. There is
less evidence that he's still throwing and working out and
getting ready to play. And you know, his his ownership
in the Raiders might limit his capability to play elsewhere.

(03:05):
But LaVar, are you telling me that, you know, week
three of the preseason, when the Raiders are without Jimmy
Garoppolo because he's still rehabbing his foot injury and things
aren't going well, they're not gonna call over to Tom, Hey, Hey, Tom,
what do you got left in your body? Now? The
Raiders I don't think are the team that's that Tom
wants to play for. They're they're not. They're surely not

(03:26):
the Bucks. When he decided to join Tampa Bay. But
I think no one believes him until he goes a
full year without playing. I think there's always gonna be
that is Tom Brady gonna never play it. What if
a team, what if a super Bowl caliber team has
a quarterback that gets hurt for the for the season,
They're not gonna call Tom Brady up and say, hey, Tom,

(03:47):
do you want to come help us win a championship
somewhere for a year. I just think no one's gonna
believe it, LeVar until it ends up actually happening.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
I just I'm still curious as to what him getting
ownership in the Las Vegas Raiders looks like for him
being able to be an active player.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
Yeah, I don't. I don't know about that. And I
think that there's people that are much smarter than us
who read contracts that have probably be cbas and you
can tell us about that. I do find interesting because
you know how many players that you play with that
have always said, oh, I want to own an NFL team,
Like I have no interest in that whatsoever. Like there

(04:25):
are there are guys that you know just and look,
it's a good you make a lot of money doing it,
so you know, don't don't get don't get me wrong,
it's a money making investment. But you know, even at
the small percentage that he's at, which will be a
small percentage of of of the raiders, Like I just
have never been interested in being a sports team owner.
And there are players that we've played with that in

(04:48):
locker rooms like they it's like their goal, I want
to own a sports team, not for me. And this
this feels like Tom Brady is sort of fulfilling a
goal with his right or fantasy of his which was
to be a part owner of a team. And imagine
he approached Robert Kraft about this at some point, probably
didn't happen, and Mark Davis is more than willing to
let him be part owner. We know Tom's business savvy

(05:10):
as well, so maybe he is looking at this as
a as a man. He wants to some point get
more invested in the NFL team. But I just never
been a goal of mine man to own NFL team.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
I hear you well, Antonio Brown wanted to own a
pro team, but we'll talk about that later on in
the show. Uh. I think I think every time I
hear Tom Brady say something about retirement, first off. I
was a very very adamant and very spirited supporter of

(05:41):
saying that Tom Brady's retirement the first time was a
real retirement because he's a dad. And and while I
ended up being incorrect and will probably not put my
good name on saying he's he's definitely undoubtedly retired, I
will say I think when when he retired, he truly

(06:01):
meant it like he meant it because he wanted to
spend time with his kids. I don't know what that
played in terms of the grand schemes of trying to
maybe keep his marriage or whatever it may have been.
I don't know that that aspect of it. But one
thing I can say for sure, he definitely wanted to
have that opportunity to spend more time with his kids.

(06:25):
But it was the right It was the right decision
for him until it wasn't. And that to me is
I think kind of what maybe you're alluding to it.
It's like, until it's not the right decision, it's going
to be the right decision. So today or yesterday he
could say, yeah, I'm this is where I'm at, this

(06:45):
is what I'm doing. I'm definitively retired. I'm not coming back,
But if that opportunity presents himself, I'm not certain that
he won't explore what that that opportunity is. But with
that being said, Jeff, I will I will ask this
if he's if he's not dealing with a team and

(07:08):
he's not possibly which I don't I don't know that
this to be true. He probably is still throwing, just
knowing probably how he's wired, he's still throwing the ball.
I would wonder would he plays himself in a position
where it could possibly maybe lessen the way people feel

(07:31):
about him, Like, would he walk into a situation where
he could potentially, you know, kind of minimize you know,
what he's already accomplished.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
Well, that's why I don't think the Raiders are where
he's gonna play. I know I joked about that with
Jimmy Garoppolo. That's why the Rain and the Raiders is
actually not an option for him to play, because they
look at their offensive line, look at how the team
around him on defense, Like, he's not gonna go somewhere
that's not gonna win. But again, I don't know if
the owner of the Raiders basically puts him in retirements,

(08:02):
right like that's the thing that that ends up being like, well, yeah,
if you own the Raiders, you just can't play anywhere.
If that does, then obviously he's very retired. If if
the sale takes a season to go through and and
you know he's you know, the selling of the shares
to him, you know, then then maybe he ends up
getting a chance. I lev I think the question is

(08:23):
like if a contender has a quarterback go down, you know,
if if the Niners end up with really they're like,
you look, man, we just Tom, Like you know, Trey
is not ready yet. Rock Perty's not ready. Sam Darnold's
not cutting it. Like that's a place where you just
put him in that offense right now, he's protected, right

(08:44):
and we have offense protects everybody that feels likely and
you know, we know this like when players retire that
have played half their life basically you know in the NFL,
which he has, that becomes what you know, and right
now there's no itch to play. It's it's it's June.
It's early June. But when training camp and the weather

(09:07):
changes and you kind of feel like, oh it's football
season soon, Like your body starts kind of feeling a
certain way, and that's what that that that to me
is is the point where I want to see for
Tom Like when he gets to August and he realized
he's not in camp for the first time since he's
seventeen years old. He's forty five, right, how does he

(09:28):
is there that it's still there? Is it?

Speaker 6 (09:30):
Like?

Speaker 2 (09:30):
Oh, I kind of still I still have one more
year left at me that that'll be the the kind
of the point for me when I watch to see
the rumors, I think, if we get past August into
the regular season, he won't play unless there's an injury
somewhere and someone calls him up and says, hey, man,
like we have this ready made team for to win.
We want you to play for a year. That's really

(09:53):
when I'll see his commitment to being retired.

Speaker 4 (09:55):
Is this summer? Okay? I can I can buy that
at you know? I I'll say, with the amount of opportunities
that he has taking over ownerships, ownership of multiple franchises
and and having that that big time Fox uh you know,

(10:17):
media media position waiting for him, I find it difficult
to continue to keep putting off what you can do
in your post career. I almost find it to be
poor decision making on his behalf that that actually becomes

(10:39):
public domain if he continues to play with all of
these opportunities that everyone is aware of that he has,
you know, not only taking place. I mean all of
them are solidified situations, right, none of these are looming
situations like they're they're they're being solidified. I just as

(11:00):
at some point, you know, with everything he has going
on that I think it's a lot different than probably
any other player that's ever played this game.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
Absolutely, but remember his Fox still doesn't start the twenty
twenty four agreed.

Speaker 4 (11:12):
But now that being let's get into let's get into
the booth. Let's let's use this year to learn. Yes,
you know, because if I'm Tom Brady, I just don't
want to step into that booth and think that, oh,
I'm just going to step in and be this amazing
broadcaster announcer for games. I think he wants to do

(11:33):
it for for a long term. Maybe he's the guy
that ends up supplanting the Troy Aikman of you know,
who's been such a star warth and a mainstay to
the game. I mean, if I'm looking at it from
the perspective of knowing how Tom Brady competes. He's going
to want to be the best at it. So I
would assume he's going to take this year to really

(11:54):
harn his skills and become as good as he could
possibly become to step in to that role and do
it well.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
Have you called games before?

Speaker 4 (12:04):
I called one game? I called one game.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
It's it's a thing where every former player wants to
do it right. You're like, oh my god, I want
to call games. It's hard, it is.

Speaker 4 (12:14):
You know, you got to stay dowt in. You gotta
stay very focused in on what it is that the
task is at hand. You got to know the players,
you gotta you gotta get your information out very quickly.
It's that's what it is. It's a matter of seconds
to get an impactful saying out, you know, in between
the plays. And I called it with Gus Johnson. So
for for me, yeah, I went from like no nothing

(12:37):
to they needed somebody. I jumped in and we we
did a We did a bang up job. I messed
up a couple of annunciations of you know, pronunciations of
of mos. Yeah, But other than that thought, I thought
it was a pretty cool experience.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
Yeah, I did some college games years ago, like the
lower level college games, and yeah, it's it's a it's
a different it's a different beast. So your point, I
think is very well taken about. You know, for Tom
to be the best he can be in the booth,
you using this year to get some practice. I imagine
if he doesn't play this year, he does a game
for Fox, a three man booth at some point, right,

(13:13):
just kind of.

Speaker 4 (13:14):
You would assume that he's going to make appearances quite often.
That's what I would assume.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
Yeah, I know, and it's a it's yeah, it's it's
and we know Tom's a perfectionist, and he'll want that
opportunity to work, you know, at some point this year
and and kind of test that out before he gets
into the into the booth at Fox. So it does
feel like, if if he doesn't play this year, there's
plenty of things for him to do that keeps him,
you know, in the game. Whether I would imagine studio
work for Fox as well. I mean, there's plenty of

(13:39):
opportunities for him to kind of get those reps in.
But to me, it's August. It's it's if he gets
through August without without committing to a team. I think
I feel more comfortable about him being fully retired then
I am him saying this now because now there's again,
there's not that physical and mental itch right now to
play in early June for older players, a lot of

(13:59):
guys like I could skip off in program. I don't
worried about that. It's it's August. It's his first it'll
be the first time he has not been in a
training camp since he was seventeen years old.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (14:09):
Right, because he from Michigan, NFL. And how's he going
to feel mentally and physically kind of at that time
is a question for me.

Speaker 4 (14:18):
That's Jeff Schwartz. I'm LeVar Arrington coming up next on
Two Pros and a Cup of Joe Live from the
Tyraq dot com studios. We'll talk commandos, I mean commanders,
is it commandos? Comment? Anyways, we're going to talk to
Washington DC football team Eric b Enemy, he's making headlines.

(14:39):
Let's talk about it all right. Uh, later on we'll
talk Celtics and we'll eventually get to some over unders.
We're going to take a quick break and we'll talk
some football, some more football on the other side of it. Okay,
you're listening to Two Pros and a Cup of Joe.
We'll be right back.

Speaker 6 (14:55):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
Welcome back into Two Pros and a Cup of Joe. Yep,
my man, Jonas knocks. We had to suspend him, Lee,
Do you want to tell him? Do we want to
keep them in suspensers? You know? Should should we tell
them why we suspended Jonas? Should we tell them? Let
him know? Nope, I'm not even gonna tell him. We're

(15:32):
just gonna keep him in the dark. But he's out
of here.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
So did he retaliate because Brady didn't remember his birthday?

Speaker 4 (15:39):
Well, so obviously q Q has had to take an
in definite suspension, Uh, you know, discipline act taken out
on him because of forgetting Jonas's birthday.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
Now, so you went, you went an entire show. Aren't
Jones's birthday? I would imagine, and Braid didn't mention anything.

Speaker 4 (16:03):
No, no, he didn't mention anything. And and Jonas makes
it a thing to try to keep his birthday kind
of anonymous. You know, he doesn't want people because him
and Brady are like best friends outside of Lee well,
which which Lee. This is a whole interesting relationship dynamicsation.

(16:26):
It's like entanglement, man like, like Lee was was like
really really besties with Jonas, but really on the sneak,
Brady and Jonas are best friends. And Lee found Todd
and and I'll tell you, I'll take it a step further.
With Lee and Todd. They even found their their version
of LeVar Arrington and their crew. So Lee's built up

(16:48):
his whole entire crew to match the two pros and
a Cup of Joe crew, which is.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
Kind of interesting.

Speaker 4 (16:54):
So there you go. There's some there. Yeah, there's some
drama playing out on the show. And Jonas Knoxes is suspended,
Brady Quinn he suspended, and you know what, Jonas will
be serving a shorter term suspension than Brady Quinn, but uh,

(17:15):
at some point they will be back.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
Yeah, I mean I know they're suspending Monday because I
mean Monday too.

Speaker 4 (17:20):
There you go, there you go, there you go. Yeah,
so there you get there you have it, and you
know what, that's all right. You know why it's all
right because you know what, they get time to discover themselves.
And speaking of Discover, at the end of your first year,
Discover credit cards automatically double all the cash back you've earned.

(17:41):
That's right, everything you earn't doubled. Seriously see terms and
check it out for yourself at discover dot com slash match.
All right, let's let's let's talk some real business. And
by the way, they had not really suspended everyone out there.
Uh that's a bit. I hope you guys caught onto

(18:01):
it and didn't take it too seriously. Uh, they will
be back.

Speaker 7 (18:05):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (18:06):
Let's let's let's switch gears to Washington. As as we
talked about, uh, the Washington commanders and and their big
move to bring in Eric b enemy Jeff. A lot
of speculation, a lot of discussions, but you know what
one Sam Howe, he feels pretty confident about Eric being

(18:27):
and me take a listen.

Speaker 8 (18:29):
He's very hot, hard on us, and he sets a
high standard, as you guys can probably tell by being
out here practice. But you know that's what we want.
You know, we want to be coached hard and we
want want to want to play for someone who has
a high standard and it's been good. You know, obviously
it's a it's a really good system, and I think
it'll be good, a good way for us to use
the weapons that we have. We have a lot of
really good weapons, so I'm.

Speaker 4 (18:46):
Excited they do have a lot of good weapons on
that team. Jeff and Eric be Enemy, whether get getting
however much credit is given in terms of his part
and his his influence in Kansas City, you seem to
be hearing one thing that's similar between the k C

(19:06):
players and the DC players, which is how hard and
the standard that Airic b Enemy creates within the within
the meeting rooms and onto practice fields with his players.

Speaker 2 (19:19):
That is great to hear. Right, I'm rudy for Eric
B Enemy to be the best quarter he can be.
I think it's unfair that he has to be a
corner outside of Andy Reid to get a head coaching job, right,
like we we we've talked about that for years now.
He should be a head coach and hopefully this opportunity
gets him gets him that job. However, LeVar, it's not

(19:40):
gonna be with Sam Howell.

Speaker 4 (19:41):
Right, come on, that was gonna be my next question.
Come on, like, can he do it with Sam Howe's
very different when you have Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 2 (19:48):
Okay, guys, so you know, the the quarterback situation in
the NFL is is very there's a large sample size
of what works. Right, it's first round picks, the second
round pick, so, okay, and select couple of players outside
of that, right, Russell Wilson third round pick, right, Dak
Prescott round fourth ren pick, I believe, right, and Cousins

(20:09):
a fourth round pick who's not even playing on the
team he was drafted by. Right. Outside of that, it's
the top of the top. Right, even maybe a middle
second round pick like a Derek Carr think it was
the middle second round. Jalen Hurts kind of the earliest
second round right, earlier second round, like, oh he was
the middle I think as well. It doesn't matter. It's
first round and like middle of the second round. Otherwise
that's it. That's it. You have a couple out liars

(20:31):
here and there, So to me, washing to your point,
do they have a really good roster? Look at their roster.
Good offensive line, good running backs, good wide receivers, good
pass rush, good secondary, good defense, like all the things
you'd want except a quarterback. Like, to me, Sam How
is not the guy who's going to lead them to

(20:55):
the playoffs. There's there's really when Dak Prescott was dropped
into into Dallas, he had the best offensive line of football,
the best run He had a good defense, which obviously
last year had the kind of their best year that
they've had under you know what was he was kind
of dropped in the perfect situation, right Russell Wilson came

(21:15):
in to Seattle with the best defense in the NFL,
right with with with an established offensive line, run game,
like those things are sort of there in Washington. But
it's like, I don't know if there's no you have
to wait and see. With Sam How, history would tell
you he's not the guy. You know most of these

(21:36):
young players too. By the way, we mentioned to Dak
and and and really Wilson, they played week one like
it was right away known they were the best quarterback.
Sam Hell made one star last year, and reportedly he
made that one start because Taylor Heinick. He told the
coaches to have to play like he wasn't even a
play last year over Heinecke, who is a fine backup quarterback,

(21:59):
like he is a rate is okay, we need to
win a couple of games. Our starters out put in
Taylor Heineke right like that, that's who he is, and
then you can make a career like that. Chase Daniel
is the best in the league history of that. Right,
the guy it's made forty million dollars ish started seven
games in his career. Right, he's the gold standard. You
can have a great NFL career in life being the
backup quarterback to everyone. Trust. So Sam Hell couldn't even

(22:22):
play last year. Now all of a sudden, he's gonna
lead Washington with this roster the playoffs. I don't believe it.
And I feel like, you know, for the enemy and
a guy I'm I was in Kansas City, my brother
was there for so many years. I got him rooting
to get his head coaching job. This feels like a
tough place for him to get that because of Sam Howe,
and so I'm curious how long that lasted. Now Jacoby

(22:43):
Presetts on the roster again. Jacoby said, is a great
guy to have as your backup quarterback, backup, and even
the situation he might come in and play half a season,
you need to go four and four that's not good
enough for everyone. A Ron Verre to keep his job,
who I like as well. I played with with Ron
in Haroline and for the enemy to get into you know,
his head coaching job. So Washington to me was a

(23:09):
is a team that I think failed this offseason at
addressing their future with the quarterback, right, Like you can't
have a good roster like this and not, in my opinion,
have the right quarterback. Like they had a chance to
to make that change in the you know, in the draft,
go up and get a quarterback opposite of freightency are
kind of limited, and they just didn't do it. And

(23:31):
Sam how to me, is not the guy LeVar that
you say, Okay, we're gonna go to play in this
division with Jalen Hurts right with Dak Prescott. I'm down
on Daniel Jones ish, but I like the coaching staff
in in in New York. Like he's the worst quarterback
in the division. You're not gonna have success.

Speaker 4 (23:47):
M that's uh who that's sobering, right. I mean, I'm
a little higher on Sam Howe than that, but I
will say I'm I'm.

Speaker 2 (24:01):
Better than third of the division with with with Philly.

Speaker 4 (24:04):
I'd say it's a one team division, even though Dallas's
defense could be the catalysts and maybe their offense could
improve this year. But I feel like I've seen what
I've seen from Dak Prescott. I don't, I don't. I
don't know how I feel about you know, their offense.
But I will say, if I had to say, where

(24:25):
does does you know Washington fall? Because they're so talented,
I would definitely say they're in a fight for three
as it stands right now, Phillies by themselves, Dallas is
good enough to say they should be in second position,
and then you can throw it up for grabs for
for New York and for Washington.

Speaker 2 (24:43):
I'm kind of, uh like stringent and kind of my
the way I look at at the spot you want
to be in the NFL, you either want to be
going for a super Bowl or really bad like the middle.
To me, if you're a fan of the middle, I
think is okay. Like you have a team like Washington,
you're gonna be competitive each week. So as a fan,

(25:04):
you're engaged and you're enjoying your team and you know
you're not gonna be terrible. And I get and I
get there's organizations that don't want to be terrible, but
in the middle, the middle like eight or nine wins,
it's great. You might make a playoff berth fight until
the end, but what are you really doing right because
the goal is to win a super Bowl, So you
either want to be really good or really bad and

(25:25):
get a quarterback in the future. Like that's middle ground
to me is the worst place to be in the NFL,
where you're like, yeah, again, competitively each week you'll be competitive,
And I get that point. I've been on those teams before.
You have as well. It's that's nothing wrong with that,
But the goal of winning a super Bowl and even
next year the year after that for Washington, they're gonna
be too good to get a quarterback next year and

(25:47):
they're gonna continue this cycle of Sam Howe to Kobe Burssett.
We'll find a veteran here, We'll find a veteran there.
They don't have a long term plan for quarterback. That's
a problem.

Speaker 4 (25:57):
That is a problem if you if you're in need,
that is certainly a problem. It'd be interesting to see
how it plays out with Sam Howe. I thought that
there were some things that could have played out during
the offseason that that could have led to them getting
a different quarterback, but they did not. I mean people
talk cap, you know, the amount of money to take
to get somebody there, the changing of ownership. You know,

(26:20):
there are a few different you know kind of I
guess things going on that that would say that it
makes it difficult to go out and get that big
splash free agent, as Washington has been known to do
so many times through the years. So it'd be interesting
to see how that all plays out. We're gonna talk
Celtics sticking with Missoula coach Missoula, but first let's go

(26:43):
to our guy, Brian Finlay and get what's trending.

Speaker 7 (26:46):
Yeah, LeVar and Jeff, we do have some basketball that
happened last night involving Game one of the NBA Finals.
Nikolokic did normal Nikolokic like things with that triple double
of Fiss twenty seven points and the Nuggets cross off
the heat in Game one one O four to ninety three.
Game two is on Sunday, and Miami is hoping to.

Speaker 4 (27:07):
Have Tyler Hero back.

Speaker 7 (27:08):
They're trying to rush him back with that right hand injury,
and there is thought that he might be able to
make it for Sunday's Game two. NBA commission Adam Silver
says that a final decision on job Moran's punishment will
come down and be made public after the NBA Finals,
as if to say that mentioning it beforehand or during

(27:29):
the finals might be a distraction. Moran has been in
trouble multiple times with multiple social media videos seen holding
a gun. The Celtics, as the guys are going to
talk about here momentarily, are going to retain their unbattled
thirty four year old head coach Joe Mossoula for next season,
who was very short worded with his responses in trying

(27:54):
to ask and to respond to the team's loss in
Game seven of the Eastern co Conference Finals against the Heat.

Speaker 4 (28:02):
Speaking of what Finley had to say about Joe Missoula,
here's what team president Brad Stevens had to say about
that situation.

Speaker 7 (28:12):
Brad, is Joe Mizoula the best head coach for this
team going forward?

Speaker 3 (28:16):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (28:16):
I think he is. I thought he again did a
really good job with this group. But I can say
without a doubt like we want Jalen to be here.
He's a big part of us and we believe in him.

Speaker 4 (28:29):
All right, So there you go. That's him speaking on
on matters of the big matters that concerned the Celtics.
Do you think that's the right that's the right move.
I mean, for me, I love the move. I think
under the circumstances of everything that took place prior to
the season, Jeff Joe Missoula came in and became a

(28:50):
calming factor to this team and did, to me a
bang up job. I know they came up short, but
and I know there is a lot of criticisms and
a lot of coaches their jobs after not doing well
in the playoffs. But I don't think any of them
came into the scenario with the same quite the same
circumstances that Joe Mizzoula did.

Speaker 2 (29:09):
You're absolutely right about that. And Joe Mazoula is thirty
four years old, thirty four years old, first time as
a full time head coach. Right at any level, he
has a coaching staff that is not filled with kind
of the NBA veterans. Right, we often see that young
coaches are able to have a kind of veteran staffs.

(29:33):
Right to have coaches that are formerly coached that have
been able to kind of help him through the process.
He didn't get that opportunity this year. His coaches that
were there got jobs elsewhere hard to fill those positions.
So I think if you if you help him with
former coaches that have experienced in the league, and you
let him get a second year under his belt, kind

(29:54):
of with his own team and his own leadership, and
not last second like it happened last you're not under scandal, right,
you should see some improvement. But LeVar, when you fire
a coach, okay, at any level of sport, the goal
was to find someone better, right, Yes, so you can
make the argument that you know, uh, Philly went from

(30:18):
Doc right to Nick Nurse, now you can Is that
an upgrade? I don't know, but it's it's it's a
good it's a good good coaching hire right, like they
went from you know, a Doc Rivers to a coach
that has won a championship. But the raptors like, good job. Right,
you've done a good job in upgrading again, upgrade, but
you got a good coach. Right, You've done a good

(30:39):
job of getting to where you need to be as
a as a as an organization. If you fire Joel
Joe Missoula, not Joel Joe. Who are you hiring Who's
better at this stage? So that's where I come down
this right, like, if you're going to fire him, who
are you You're not hiring Doc Rivers back, Maybe go

(31:00):
Mini Williams. I don't know, But who are you hiring?
Who is better than the coach you're firing? And I
think Boston realized, like, look, let's surround Joe with a
better staff, Let's give him another year. He's thirty four
years old, Let's give him one more year, and let's
let him grow into the role because there's no option
right now that's better than what we have. And I

(31:23):
am a fan of letting coaches kind of get one
more year to sort things out rather than firing them
right away, and kind of all levels of sport, I
know there's obviously a situation where you have to fire
a coach because the personalities don't alige and there's some
locker room strupt that doesn't seem to be a problem
in Boston. So I think they made the right decision.
Let's keep him, Let's surround him with a better staff,

(31:45):
give him a full offseason where there's no scandal in
the organization, and let's improve the rod like all the
things that go into making the coach better. Let's do
all those and let's give him another year.

Speaker 4 (31:57):
I like it, LeVar all right, that's Jeff Swartz right
there filling in for Brady Quinn and Jonas Knox. I'm
LeVar Arrington coming up next on Two Pros and a
Cup of Joe live from the tirag dot Com studios.
Over and unders, that's right, we're still gonna do it,
and in fact, you know who best to do it

(32:19):
with than one of the experts in the industry of
overs and under my man, Jeff Schwartz. We're gonna jump
into his wheelhouse on the other side of this break.
We'll be right back Fox Sports Radio.

That sounded just like him. And you know who sounds

Speaker 4 (34:14):
I have been losing, you know you aligning low life game.

Speaker 3 (34:19):
It's over under alright Ley.

Speaker 2 (34:22):
What we got this week?

Speaker 11 (34:23):
This week we got a little bit of everything. Of course,
we got the Stanley Cup Final Game one coming up tomorrow.
We got the Florida Panthers at Golden Knights for Game one,
and the over under in this game is at five
and a half.

Speaker 4 (34:35):
What do you got, LeVar? Who over under at five
and a half? I'm first game, I'm gonna take the under.
I'll take the under.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
I think in hockey you should always root for the over.
I just think it's more fun with a lot of
goals will score. Even though I'm with you there, the
Panthers have a goalie that's very hot right now. You
can ride a hot goalie, as we see many many
times to postseason wins. I'll take the over just to
be opposite of a and also just when I watch hockey,
I want to see a ton of goals.

Speaker 4 (35:07):
Nice. So what you're saying is that I'm probably going
to be correct.

Speaker 2 (35:10):
Though if if the Panthers goalie plays like he has,
you'll probably be correct.

Speaker 4 (35:15):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's been conversation. Okay, Lee, here we go, beautiful.

Speaker 11 (35:19):
We got a few for the NBA Finals Game two
obviously last night, one O four to ninety three win
for the Nuggets added up to one ninety seven for
Game two, the over unders set at two fourteen.

Speaker 4 (35:32):
I'm gonna take the over.

Speaker 2 (35:34):
Yeah, I'm taking over too. I think we see a
better shooting night from Miami. And again, I mean Denver
didn't didn't play like as well as they could offensively.
They only had twenty points in the fourth quarter, which
has been kind of a theme of Theirs this year
in the playoffs when they kind of have a lead
entering the fourth quarter, they don't score many points. I
think we see a much more competitive game throughout.

Speaker 11 (35:54):
How to take the over, guys, Nikola Jokic Obviously with
the triple double last night, he was for twenty seven,
ten and fourteen. That would have hit the over of
this over at fifty one and a half for his points,
rebounds and assists combined.

Speaker 4 (36:10):
It's one of our favorites here. You could go for.

Speaker 11 (36:12):
Rebounds and assists combined is at fifty one and a half.

Speaker 2 (36:14):
Yeah, over, Who's who's gonna stop him? I don't understand.
It must be nice just when you ever he gonna
trumble as a team and just throw the ball to
the best player in the NBA and be like it
just just creates some offense for us, Buddy, I mean
it's over, give me over, Lamar.

Speaker 4 (36:28):
I'm taking over on this one as well. I think
he'll have a better game in game two. He was
more of a facilitator based on how they deed them.
I think they'll still have to be forced to play
defense on him with more than one person, but I
you know, I think he'll you know, he got off

(36:49):
to a slow start in this lat this first game,
so I don't see him maintaining a slow start unless
he feels as though that's the best best direction for
the team. But yeah, I'm gonna take the over. I
think that's an easy.

Speaker 11 (37:01):
One, all right, from your kitch over to Butler, who
definitely would have hit the under last night he went
thirteen seven and seven thirteen points, seven rebounds, seven assists.
For that line in game two, it's set at thirty
nine and a half thirty.

Speaker 2 (37:18):
I'm taking over because I think we see Butler of
the high twenties and points in this game in game two.
The NBA, I think it's sort of predictable in this
sense where if a superstar has a bad game, the
next game they played just much better. Like this, Historically,
holds true. You know, he didn't play well in Game
six to his normal standard, and played really well in

(37:38):
Game seven last series. I think I would take the overall.
I think he has kind of an upper twenties game
in points, and obviously the unit's about ten to twelve,
you know, rebounds and assists to get over a right.

Speaker 4 (37:50):
I think he might get a little more production, but
I just think that they're more capable to defense him
with the Denver personnel than what we saw with some
of these other teams during the course of this playoff run.
I'm gonna take the under. I know that's a bowl one,
but I think I'm gonna take the under on this one.

(38:13):
He might have been on par with what his production
will be in that first game, and that might have
been foreshadowing. I know the superstars have to show up,
and they do show up, but I'm gonna take the
under on this one. I like it.

Speaker 3 (38:25):
I like it.

Speaker 11 (38:25):
One thing I couldn't find, and I know, Jeff, you
were a big fan of this looking for it. Maybe
yesterday was the Women's College World Series. Obviously here in
the network we like to root on Oklahoma. If you're
a big Chris Plank fan going for three p at
least I am, but I was able to find men's
regionals in his college baseball, and I was able to
find Xavier versus Oregon eleven and a half.

Speaker 2 (38:49):
Yeah, look, Oklahoma has done too much winning in softball.
Come on, I get it. I've been texting playing this
entire offseason, I mean the sire season about this, like
we got I'm ready for someone else to make competitively.
Staffer was yesterday. I'll take the over in this game.
Organ hits really well, Xavier pitches really well. But in
the end, I think Organ takes it. I did wager

(39:10):
on them, like personally, on the money line, so I
hope they win.

Speaker 4 (39:13):
I have I have absolutely no idea about this game.
I could care less about this game, give two rats
asses about this game. So I'm just gonna take a
you know, stab in the dark on this one. I'm
gonna go under. And that's only because my boy Lee
just told me, let's go under. So Lee, we're gonna

(39:35):
do this one together. We're going to go under. Yeah,
all right, we appreciate that.

Speaker 2 (39:40):
Lee.

Speaker 4 (39:41):
That's over and unders, and I'll tell you what our
three is coming at you next.
