We got Brady Quinn in Las Vegas for PAC twelve
(01:16):
Media day now is a days or day in the
PAC twelve, it's.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
More of a day, although it really should be considered
days because yesterday a lot.
Speaker 4 (01:26):
Of Oh, they do all sorts of stuff at these
media days, like they take portraits of them that they
use later on and then it.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
Will start to log some interviews. Most of that really today.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
Yeah, so we're gonna have to reconnect with Brady Quinn.
There are just some technical difficulties.
Speaker 5 (01:47):
Again.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
I mean, this probably wouldn't happen at SEC media days,
I'll tell you that right now, or the Big ten
or anybody else for that matter. I don't think it
would happen in the Mountain West, to be honest with you,
but that the PAC twelve apparently it does. LaVar Arrington's
also in Yayoming for Frontier Days. Uh, he's got a
pair of cowboy boots. He has fired up for what
is happening there in Wyoming. So we are we have
(02:08):
got everybody covered here. We are all spread out and
We've got a ton going on here in the world
of sports, a ton going on in the world of football.
We also have a ton going on on this show
because of course it's a football Friday, so we should
probably celebrate.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
Come on, come.
Speaker 6 (02:25):
On, d.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
Yeah, we're still doing that Friday one, but we will
effort to get a more modern version of the of
the Football Friday. But you know, I think people they
like the the the oldies, but the goodies, the.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
Old school version, the one that, yeah, old school sounds more.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
Like I did Last Boy Scout. You know, the movie
where a guy ran on the field and pulled out
a handgun.
Speaker 5 (03:04):
And shot busting caps shots the.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Four touchdown, So that believe or not that that's the
one everyone loves. That's right.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
Yeah, another but a little positive feel here on a Friday.
But we do have some positive feels because Dan Snyder
is out. It is official. Josh Harris the new owner
of the Washington Commandos.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Nice.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
Six point oh five billion is the final price. Now,
you know, Dan Snyder made some money off this. Obviously
he bought the team for eight hundred million, but he
was out sixty million because they did find you know,
sexual harassments claims there. They did find that, you know,
he sort of held back eleven million dollars in revenue
(03:44):
and so because of all that, he had to pay
this sixty million dollar fine on his way out the door.
And Roger Goodell, the commissioner of the NFL, talked about
the findings of the league and Dan Snyder leaving.
Speaker 7 (03:56):
The findings speak for themselves. We had an obligation to
release those publicly.
Speaker 5 (04:02):
We did.
Speaker 7 (04:03):
We share those with the ownership today, had a full
discussion of that. You know, that's the findings do speak
for themselves, particularly with miss Johnson. That's inappropriate, it's the
wrong and it doesn't match our vacuum values. And so
again her findings were clear and her findings.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
Yeah, so it seemed like a lot of findings there.
Speaker 8 (04:24):
From Roger Goodell, I wonder if they're going to release
the report like you released it to the owner released.
It can't be right. It can't be any chance that
it gets all.
Speaker 5 (04:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
I agree, Well they released just the findings, but not
the full report. From my understanding, correct, just what they
decided to find him yesterday. For the second they want
to release flames. Yeah, and so the other stuff's not
probably not going to make it out.
Speaker 8 (04:53):
I just hate they unanimously voted him out. That those
findings pissed every last one of them, those owners off,
every last one.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
Well, he held back with eleven eleven million in revenue
from from sharing with the other owners.
Speaker 8 (05:09):
I mean, and people getting upset with me because I
told them day he ain't put my bonus in the contract.
Speaker 5 (05:16):
That's so crazy. Now y'all learn it. Y'all learned though this.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
Yeah, well I said this when we were kind of
in our notes and talking about but he's got to
be the worst owner in professional sports history. Like, like,
I don't I don't know that I actually created a
list for you guys, because because I don't know that
it's particularly close. But if you really look at it,
(05:44):
like he took over a team, and we talked about
this with Albert Breyer yesterday and LaVar, I know, you
know this. It's probably a little different for Jonas and I,
but they were so well regarded in the DC area,
and even as an NFL franchise, a storied franchise. He
immediately came in fired Charlie Castley, who's beloved in some circles,
(06:04):
really well respected. He hired his golfing bundy, Vinnie Serrado.
He ends up firing Vinie Sorodo when he finally brought
in Marty Schottenheimer. But then once, you know, once Marty
Schottenheimer was out, he just hired back Viny Serrodo with
Steve Spurriyer. It just it was a perpetual cycle of
poor decisions, you know, putting, putting people who probably weren't
(06:26):
qualified to be in the position that they were in,
hiring buddies, things of that nature. And that doesn't include
the tremendous like workplace environment that he had created that
was toxic and everything else. But other potential owners that
I put in this category next to Dan Sneider is
James Dolan, at least in regards to to the New
York Dicks. I don't believe any of the franchises that
(06:48):
he's now the primary manager over and I brought I
believe to be is what the the MSG the Madden
Square Garden group of properties which encompasses the Rangers, Nicks,
and Liberty which the WA be A team. None of
those have won a championship. The only one that has,
the a h L team, has won a championship and
and that was back, oh man, maybe a few couple
(07:11):
of decades ago now and thinking about it, what did
he ban Charles Oakley from Madison Square Garden kicked him out, he.
Speaker 5 (07:20):
Kicked him out?
Speaker 1 (07:21):
Whatever it was, like, like, James Dolan's got to be
up there?
Speaker 3 (07:26):
Can we can we present this in the proper manner
if you're going to break down the the all times?
All right, and we need we need some some music here,
all right, So Brady Quinn take it away please, all right.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
So again I'm going back to Dan Snyder being number
one in professional sports history to challenge.
Speaker 9 (07:45):
Me by far, there's a gap. There's a gap before
you get to.
Speaker 5 (07:49):
Me, challenge of horrible elite.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Well, it's it's elite in the aspect of really what
the franchise was then what it became. It's got a
sub five hundred win loss record over the course of
his tenure there. But that doesn't include the sexual harassment,
all these other things, these allegations and things that were
brought forth that were found to be true, the lack
of revenue share, whatever you want to point to.
Speaker 9 (08:15):
Dan Snyder takes the cake at number one.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
James Dolan's there at two and as in large part
because of the lack of success of any of the
franchises that he's overseen, whether it's the Knicks, the Rangers,
the Liberties that pointed out, amongst other things, and finding
a way to constantly be hated by a lot of
New York fans. Jeffrey Laurier comes to mind. He basically
(08:38):
won a World Series and then somehow ran Jim Leland
out of town, and then ever since that point, they
the second they actually saw talent and any of their
young prospects, they trade them off for future aspects. Like
they tried their best to feel the cheapest team and
be as average as possible for the entirety of his
(09:00):
tenure there, just so they could make money off this,
which I guess is his own progative. Terrible ownership there,
although he was in competition with Donald Sterling. Donald Sterling,
the former owner of the La Clippers, another guy who
falls in the category of awful ownership, nothing really occurred
during his tenure there with the Clippers, and on top
(09:20):
of that racial discrimination amongst other things. I mean, he
was right there up there in regards to Daniel Snyder
and how poor of a work environment he had created
and coming in at number five. And it's a short tenure,
but I think I've got Antonio Brown up there with
the Empire regulations boom.
Speaker 5 (09:42):
Booming.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
Yeah, he currently still owns the team.
Speaker 9 (09:45):
The team.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
The team was kicked out of the National Arena League
earlier this year.
Speaker 9 (09:50):
There was accusations of skipping payments.
Speaker 1 (09:53):
At one point he had to suit up become a
owner slash player, I think in order to get some
attention maybe to help things out. But in the short span,
he's up there with some of the others in uh
as far as the poorest ownership history of a professional.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
Sports Yeah, and now let me it's not really Antonio
that's the problem. Now here's the follow up question I
have for you. At what point, if you were going
to expand this list, how far away was Jimmy Haslam
from potentially making this list? Uh?
Speaker 1 (10:23):
He wasn't even close really one. Yeah, I mean honestly,
like outside of the Because here's the thing is, it's
not like before his tenure there was a tremendous amount
of success, that's fair.
Speaker 9 (10:34):
So there's that element of things.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
He has under his tenure gotten to the playoffs and
they won a playoff game, in particular going to Pittsburgh
beating Pittsburgh. So I did actually have anywhere close and
in fact, I think they're gonna be pretty damn.
Speaker 5 (10:48):
Good this year.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
So I would say he's done a lot to try
to make things work in Cleveland. It hasn't worked out
so far, but they could be turning a corner.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
I mean, a dark horse candidate. Also bid well with
the Arizona Cardinals. I mean, you believe he.
Speaker 9 (11:03):
Would be up there.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
But again, like you're talking about a franchise that has
has made it to a super Bowl at least in
recent history. As even though they've had their poor stretch
of runs. Now, they were a ten win team what
two years ago? Yeah, and they have shown promise. I
mean during Kurt Worre's time there, at Carson Palmer's time there,
there was there are some periods of really competitive, good
(11:26):
football teams.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
Yeah, it's I do wonder though it was part of
the agreement to walk away the sixty million dollar fine
all of that, because you've talked about for you know,
right or wrong, Dan Snyder's a really competitive guy, like
a really competitive guy. I do wonder if this is
the last we're going to hear from him or is
he going to do some tell all book about all
(11:48):
the dirty's got another NFL owners and Roger Goodell. I
wonder it comes out.
Speaker 8 (11:53):
I would I would think that this would be the
end of it, right, just based upon the multitudes of
people who complained, you know there it's not just that
one lady in the report.
Speaker 5 (12:10):
There's more and and so.
Speaker 8 (12:14):
I think that the best, the best case scenario is
to break free away from from from the NFL. And
and I think that I'm pretty certain that was what
was being reported. The hold up was he didn't want
anything kind of following him after he was done with
(12:36):
the deal, like nothing that the NFL could come back
and be like, Okay, now we're going to continue to
investigate this, We're going to do this X, Y and Z.
So I don't I'm I'm assuming that that sixty million
dollar fine closes up shop on anything that the NFL
will do in terms of going after him after the
(12:56):
sale has has been finalized.
Speaker 5 (12:59):
I don't.
Speaker 8 (13:00):
I don't see him burning or you know, doing anything
that would would burn the NFL, because I just think
that the whole reason why he has to go in
the first place is it's just there's just too much there.
It's just there's just too much there, and and it's
damning on him. Now, it may be damning on other
(13:23):
people as well, but I can guarantee you the most
damning aspects of all the things that could possibly come
out are on him.
Speaker 5 (13:32):
Yeah, So I don't, I don't.
Speaker 8 (13:35):
I don't foresee him being one of those type of
guys that ends up being an issue later on, which,
by the way, with that type of a deal, as
big as that deal is, I'm certain the things he's
done to people through the years, with the whole NDA's
and can't talk about the organization and this, that and
the other and WHOOPI woo. I can guarantee you the
(13:57):
NFL did that to him before they approved this sale.
Like I would assume that they made sure that the
paperwork on him having a gag order over him not
being able to talk. I'm certain that they're they're probably
they probably agreed on that, and on both sides, I
would assume it.
Speaker 3 (14:16):
Does open up the potential return of one LeVar Arrington
to RFK.
Speaker 1 (14:24):
Is RFK we're the building the new one, I think,
So I think that was the you know, is that
what you just made up?
Speaker 3 (14:30):
No, that's why I saw. That's where they're building at
the the site of r f K Stadium, which I
still call it RFK Stadium. I refused to call fed X.
I'm just not going to call it fed X.
Speaker 5 (14:40):
Well, I mean FedEx is a different stadium than r
f K.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
Yeah, but I grew up on our RFK Stadium. I'm
going to go with that. That was the glory.
Speaker 8 (14:48):
Days, the bouncing the rock, And uh, why do you
call them by what their team name was back then?
Speaker 3 (14:54):
If it was the Glory I'm not allowed to LeVar
Is because he was drafted by But I'm.
Speaker 5 (14:57):
Not allowed to. Don't put me out.
Speaker 9 (14:59):
So what do you what do you call the now jonas?
Speaker 3 (15:00):
The commandos?
Speaker 5 (15:02):
There you go?
Speaker 3 (15:02):
Can they change anything?
Speaker 5 (15:03):
You want to?
Speaker 8 (15:04):
Keep calling them the commandos, even though little Danny's gotten
rid of them. Well yeah, you have to call them
commanders now. Oh you are with some respect on.
Speaker 9 (15:13):
It, all right, that's nice for me to do that.
Speaker 5 (15:17):
They weren't very respectable like before this.
Speaker 3 (15:21):
I mean, the name sucks. We just say that, like,
let's just let's call what it is. The name stinks.
It's not any good and and the fact that that
was what they came to. They should have just stayed
with Washington Football team, Like at least it was unique.
Speaker 5 (15:35):
I liked Washington football team person.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
I did too.
Speaker 9 (15:39):
There was no need to change.
Speaker 3 (15:41):
Yeah, it's ridiculous, but you know, he tried to do
whatever he could to hold onto that team and uh
and he was fighting, kicking and screaming to change from
the previous name to the Washington football team. He did
everything he could not have to say.
Speaker 5 (15:56):
He told them people over his dead body.
Speaker 9 (16:00):
I told you that.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
I called a game and we were in Arizona, and
I remember in the suite that he was in he
had a chief of a certain tribe like up there
with him.
Speaker 5 (16:13):
No he didn't, I swear, Yes he did.
Speaker 9 (16:16):
He did.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
And I remember we, you know, we were talking about
it because that was back in two thousand and fourteen, fifteen,
and I remember calling the game and our play by
play at the time had to comment on it. And
I remember thinking to myself, like, so he's basically doing
this to send the message that like, there are certain
(16:38):
groups that are okay with they're cool with this, Like
he was trying to basically send that message. And I
was like this is like I mean, and I was
just getting the broadcasting, and I've always taken the position
that you were when you're a color analyst, like that
is not for you to chime in on, Like that's
the last thing you want to do is mention anything
like that's political in any way.
Speaker 5 (16:59):
And so I was just like, yep.
Speaker 9 (17:00):
I'm not gonna say anything. I'm just gonna, you know,
call it again.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
So he basically so awkward. He brought it.
Speaker 3 (17:06):
He brought a Native American and used him as a
prop to defend himself against the claims that the name
was racist.
Speaker 9 (17:14):
Yeah, they're playing in Arizona at the time.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
They're in a suite together, and I think that was
in essence what he was looking at trying to do,
at least that was my interpretation of it. But again, man,
I just was like, yep, I'm not.
Speaker 5 (17:25):
Going to touch this.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
Steer clear of that. By the way, we are brought
to you by Discover. At the end of your first year,

Cup of Joe here on Fox Sports Radio, and coming
up next somebody with some very strong words for a
(17:47):
situation that seems to be a bit of a mess
in the world of football, and you'll hear from him next.
Speaker 10 (17:53):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Arrington and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 3 (18:07):
Not playing this in Cleveland.
Speaker 5 (18:09):
Mom music so home, He said.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
Me, two Pros and a Cup of Joe, Fox Sports Radio,
LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you by the way,
coming up later on this hour, We've got another edition
of You and and You out as we close up
shop here on a football Friday, Brady, before we get
into this conversation about somebody with some strong words about
an issue in the world of football, there was a
(18:35):
late entry into the Worst Owners of All Time list
from somebody on Twitter who said Art Model I would
disagree with that.
Speaker 9 (18:43):
Yeah, I mean, I mean it's it's hard.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
When he moved a team to Baltimore, and then immediately won, Yes,
Super Bowl. I mean, I mean, I understand the frustration
behind it. Trust me, I grew up a Browns fan.
I completely get that. But they were successful, Like that
was when they were in Cleveland. That was some of
the best years. I think that's the the hardest thing
(19:07):
for me to look at it from a fans perspective
and a former players perspective, is the team that I
grew up rooting for was a franchise, was a team
that had, you know what, was making progress towards getting
to that Super Bowl. And I feel like the team
that is a part of the expansion team was drastically different.
(19:29):
Like most expansion teams have not been able to get
over the hump to create a foundation that sustainable or
consistent to compete. I mean, think about the most recent franchises,
Houston and Jacksonville. Right Houston, Jacksonville. Jacksonville initially had.
Speaker 5 (19:49):
Their moment, right Carolina.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
Carolina's one that they had their moment, but it took
them however long until cam came along could win MVP
and that defense and everything, but that was it. Like
that was the moments that all four of those franchises
that have since come into been expansion teams. None of
them haven't been able to crack it yet.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
The Titans, I mean Baltimore, Baltimore has.
Speaker 9 (20:12):
Been He's more moved, but yeah, sure, sure.
Speaker 3 (20:15):
Baltimore has been in existence twenty eight years. They're fifty
three games over five hundred, and they've got two Super Bowls.
They've been doing just fine.
Speaker 5 (20:23):
They're good.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
Yeah, all right.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
And look at the win loss percentage of ar Modell
when the Browns, when he was part of the Browns
then and then what it's been since the Browns came
back in ninety nine. It's just it's been an expansion
team that's been you know, like a like a home
that started construction on, started to build it up, to
knock it down, started to build it up again, knocked down,
started to build it up again. And and look, you
brought Jimmy Haslin earlier. There's elements of that in his ownership,
(20:50):
but I think there was also some as he's you know,
he was a minority owner with Pittsburgh Steelers. He became
a majority owner of the Browns, and I think there's
a learning process even for him too as an.
Speaker 9 (21:00):
Owner and how that all works.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
And he's He's gotten to a point now where I
feel like that's one of the most talented rosters in
the NFL.
Speaker 9 (21:08):
And that's why I think I'm bullish on them this year.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
A lot of people are bullsh on a Shan Watson
second year in the offense being able to maybe be
a sleeper and a surprise team that not a lot
of people are talking about right now.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
It is two pros and a cup of Joe here
Fox Sports Radio, brought to you by Discover. At the
end of your first year, Discover credit cards automatically double
all the cash back you've earned. That's right, everything you've
earned doubled. Serious CC terms and check it out for
yourself at discover dot com. Forward slash match. So it
is Media Day in college football, or media days rather
in college football all around the country. We've been talking
about it all week long, whether it be the SEC.
(21:39):
We've also got the PAC twelve Media Day going on now.
I have submitted some questions. You asked for us to
submit some questions, Brady, that you're going to ask some
players and coaches. Yeah, Pack twelve Media Day.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
Yeah, we're gonna do this right when.
Speaker 3 (21:53):
Maybe get some music, Okay, Ivy yeah, like do you now,
do you have the questions that I submitted? Do you
want me to submit them to you on the air
and then you tell.
Speaker 5 (22:00):
What you there? Yeah, that's what I thought we were doing.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
Okay, all right, so I've got I mean, I'm ready
to go, ready to rock. So if we've gotten the
uh we had a live studio band here in attendance
to celebrate PAC twelve Media Day and some of the
questions that will be sent over to certain coaches and players.
I mean it feels yeah. I mean when I think
the PAC twelve, I think this, that's what I think of.
(22:24):
So here we go, Brady Quinn, let's get it started.
Speaker 5 (22:27):
Now.
Speaker 3 (22:27):
This is just to anybody you talk to, Now, how
many how many people are you playing? Like, do you
know specific people you're going to be talking to or
is it going.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
To be yes, okay, yes, there's three specific people I'll
be talking to that we're you know, logging content is
how they describe it for the season. So stuff that's
getting taped now that will play once we get into
the season.
Speaker 3 (22:47):
All right, least intimidating fan base to play in front of.
Speaker 9 (22:51):
Okay, that's a good one.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
Now that that's probably going to piss some people off
depending on the answer. I could see some people maybe
not wanting to answer that correctly about this pick one
teammate or coach to win a beer pong slash cornhole tournament.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
With Okay, kind of fun, that's a fun one.
Speaker 5 (23:08):
Yeah, it's a fun one.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
Favorite lift in the gym.
Speaker 9 (23:12):
That's a more meathead one.
Speaker 5 (23:13):
I'm not sure you're getting much from that.
Speaker 3 (23:15):
There some meatheads in the fact twelve. Still, you know,
you're still there. Favorite moment on a football field kind
of generic.
Speaker 5 (23:22):
Okay, you know, go.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
To postgame meal after a win.
Speaker 5 (23:27):
Okay, I like that. Yeah, I like that one.
Speaker 3 (23:28):
I feel like there's an opportunity for somebody there to
work in, you know, Wendy's, since you are the face
of Wendy's. I feel like that's that's an opportunity. And
then also a football pet peeve? Is there a pet
peeve you have in the world of football? I feel
like that's another generic one that could get some responses.
Speaker 1 (23:45):
I've really thought you're going to be more creative than that. Well,
I thought there was gonna be some off the walls.
Speaker 3 (23:49):
Do you want to know what? I want you to
ask them? That I know you won't ask him. Yes,
who's on steroids?
Speaker 1 (23:54):
Okay?
Speaker 3 (23:56):
Yeah? Like who's on the gas? Tell me who do
you believe elsewhere in the conference is juiced up all
the way to their ear lobes, Like that's what I
want to know, Like like tell us that sort of stuff.
Speaker 8 (24:07):
We could be more creative and how you're asking your
questions though.
Speaker 3 (24:10):
Jonas will give you some examples, like LeVar, what.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
Do we got?
Speaker 8 (24:16):
You got to ask them things like is cereal soup? Gosh,
like if an animal could talk, which one would you
want to talk to?
Speaker 6 (24:27):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (24:28):
I like that one?
Speaker 3 (24:29):
That one is a hot dog of sandwich stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (24:32):
Yeah, there's some of those.
Speaker 8 (24:34):
Yeah, next question, would you would you rather have no
nose or no arms with you?
Speaker 3 (24:45):
What?
Speaker 9 (24:48):
First off?
Speaker 1 (24:49):
First off, wait, what is that? Pretty simple? Like what
you just cut out the nose? A smell right, yeah,
just like your life would be dropped stickally different if
you had no arms versus if you had.
Speaker 5 (25:08):
You gotta ask what is your spirit animal?
Speaker 10 (25:12):
Then?
Speaker 5 (25:13):
Why?
Speaker 9 (25:14):
I like that ad aastally on not note what is
your spirit animal?
Speaker 8 (25:19):
You know I used to be very very in tune
with saying lion, I guess because I went to Penn State,
so the whole lion thing. But I gotta tell you,
when I came face to face with a bear, I
think it became my new spirit animal man.
Speaker 5 (25:36):
So I think I'm going with it with a bear.
Speaker 3 (25:38):
Oh, you're like Brad Pitt on Legends of the Fall. Well,
he knew that his fate was going to be determined
by a bear in the wild.
Speaker 5 (25:44):
That's how Like John Candy and the Great Outdoors.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
Yeah, that too, That's a good yeah. I mean, I
feel like those are some some legitimate questions there that
could get some good run, you know, I mean, listen
for what it's worth. I mean, you know, if you're
looking for content out there people at Fox or Big
Noon Kickoff and any of these are used later on
in the season, You're welcome here on a football Friday
(26:08):
in July. Lebar and I provided those joys so that
we did our part. You guys, Are you guys familiar
with the name Joey Freshwater? You know Jeege Freshwater is Yeah,
that was the alias used by Lane Kiffen apparently at
you know, a couple of a couple of bars back
in the day as sort of a joke. I actually
once asked him about that name on the air, and
(26:29):
he gave sort of a smart ass reply, which was
great Lane Kiffin response. But Lane Kiffen did have the response.
I think it was something I'm not I'm not quite
sure what you're talking about. What are you referring to?
Joey Freshwater is just something you sort of like played
along with it.
Speaker 5 (26:43):
But does that.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
Originate in Boca when he was the head coach at
FAU or did it come out before then?
Speaker 3 (26:48):
I thought it was before then, but he may have
been in Boca or had just gotten there and he
was walking around, you know, introducing himself to women and
they asked, what's your name, and he said Joey fresh
which is just a phenomenal name to go with. But
he did yesterday though, step up to step up to
the podium with you know, hair like it looked like
(27:11):
he had been sitting in the sun for three weeks straight.
He's got his.
Speaker 5 (27:14):
Hair all, you know, just going something else.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
Yeah, whatever it was, but Joey Freshwater slash. Lane Kiffin
did talk about the issues with nil in the world
of college football and had some strong words.
Speaker 11 (27:27):
You know, So I'm going to address the portal and
I l what I kind of called disaster that we're in,
and so I know that question is going to come.
It's just created a lot of issues these roster changes.
I'm not complaining about it because we take advantage obviously
of free agency, but at the same time, I don't
think that's really good for college football. These massive overhauls
(27:48):
rosters every year really is not in the best interest
of college football. Paying the players for play to come
to their school is where we're at. So there's kind
of your state of union on the situation of what
all coaches are dealing with around the country, and really
a poor system that isn't getting better now is going
to get worse with this because again now we just
(28:10):
look at recruiting rankings and you're going to see that
they usually are going to follow this, you know, donor
base and what schools are going to decide to give
the most money to the players.
Speaker 5 (28:19):
So is what it is.
Speaker 11 (28:20):
We'll deal with it like we do with everything else.
But somehow it's got to get fixed because there's no
system around it.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
A couple oversation, a couple things, all right, Actually a
few things quickly. One, there's truth to some of what
he said, but there's also not truth Like everyone knew
when Texas A and M in the first year went
really deep into this, they got the number one recruiting class, right,
what happened after that?
Speaker 5 (28:47):
Nothing?
Speaker 1 (28:48):
Nothing like, like they really didn't rebound with having as
competitive of a class, at least considering the bar they set.
So you know, that was an instance. And by the way,
they're one of the biggest players in NIL, like don't
get twisted texts and M has as deep a pockets
as anyone that's in the NIL space. And not only
did it not work out on the field for them,
there's some issues to in the locker room and beyond that,
(29:11):
it's not their prevailing thought, like if you could go
somewhere else for me, yeah, you might not make as much,
but you have a chance of winning national championship.
Speaker 9 (29:18):
You have a chance for you know, playing for a
football team.
Speaker 1 (29:22):
It's going to be you know, it's going to be
successful a little different, right, And so I don't know
that it's just all about that. It might be all
about that for some recruits. I don't think it's all
about that for others, but it is a major part
of it. I was talking with a coach last.
Speaker 9 (29:38):
Night, he literally is leaving from the dinner we.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
Were at and flying back to go to an NIL
event to fundraise money for NIL. I mean, that is
the lifeblood right now, because recruiting is the lifeblood of
college football, and so you have to have that. But
there is federal legislation on the horizon. Yesterday there are
some news about a potential bill and what would be
deemed I believe as the call a Collegiate Athletics Corporation
(30:04):
is what they're going to try to create, and it
would allow the federal government to level the playing field
because this sort of law, and at least in theory,
would trump state law, and it would then allow the NCAA,
based on the anti trust protections, it would provide them
to then enforce some of the rules and regulations they
put in place. So that legislation is coming. I don't
(30:28):
know when it will be done. There's not a lot
of people, at least in who I talk to, that
believe it's going to be a priority before an election
year that's coming up in twenty twenty four. People tend
to focus on other things outside of collegiate athletics. But
there is at least legislation being worked on potentially going
to be introduced, but as we all know, there's going
(30:48):
to be a thousand or one hundred different iterations of
what ultimately that's going to look like when it's all
said and done.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
Oh good news is season's coming up here soon. Now
we can just get back to focusing on football clanging
and banging, clanging, no helmets clashing. That's what we need.
It's a world we grew up in. Forget this nil crap.
It is two pros and a cup of Joe. Here
on Fox Sports Radio, Lebar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox
with you. So we are going to have another edition

Edmund Garcia.
Speaker 12 (31:23):
I was there when Lane Kiffin was there. By the
way we are you really yeah?
Speaker 6 (31:27):
He was.
Speaker 12 (31:29):
A third string quarterback, never played. And then you know
his dad obviously was a coach in the NFL, and
he decided, you know what, this isn't working out. I'm
gonna just is it okay? If I just become like
a grad assistant coach and they're.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
Like, yeah, good, move on his right exactly.
Speaker 12 (31:45):
News from the NFL, where league owners unanimously approved the
sale of the Washington Commanders by Dan Snyder for six
point zero five billion, a record for a North American
sports franchise, to a group led by Josh Harris, who
owns the seventy six Ers in the NBA and the

(33:13):

Speaker 1 (35:55):

That's right?
Speaker 1 (36:15):
Yeah, LeVar, I feel like he says it kind of funny.
You notice that, Yeah, he does, just like Fox.
Speaker 3 (36:23):
Because you're trying to give me to say the F.
Speaker 5 (36:25):
Bomb, I'm not, but I give zero what John.
Speaker 3 (36:31):

Speaker 5 (37:05):
That's funny.
Speaker 15 (37:06):
Are you guys enter out on Lionel Messi's debut and
out out?
Speaker 5 (37:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (37:12):
Oh, come on, you don't want to see if he's
gonna tear up the MLS.
Speaker 3 (37:15):
I have no respect for a guy that chose Public's
over Pigley Wiggly.
Speaker 1 (37:20):
There is in that area, well it should be.
Speaker 3 (37:25):
You've never been to a Pickley Wiggly. You don't know
what that world's like.
Speaker 1 (37:28):
Man, oh man, you're just the worst slappy You really are,
King Slappy spy.
Speaker 15 (37:36):
Alright, ley, guys, I won't bore you anymore with Barbenheimer.
But there is another movie that's coming out this week,
Stephen Curry's Underrated, a documentary coming out on Apple TV
or you guys in or out out?
Speaker 1 (37:47):
Man, I only got time for Oppenheimer. It's like what
a five hour movie watch something.
Speaker 3 (37:54):
Hey, by the way, you know who's got a documentary
coming out this weekend? I think it's this weird. It
might be Monday. Oscar, No, the Chronicle of these Who's
that Starry? LaVar nuts, Oscar, Oscar, Oscar d La Hoya
has got a documentary. It's on HBO and I think
Mark Wahlberg and who else is behind it? Like and
(38:20):
apparently he addresses everything like dressing in lingerie and all
the other stuff that goes on. Apparently it's fantastic. He's
got a a lot of stuff about Oscar, the quote
unquote golden Boy that a lot of people that didn't
weren't aware of. And that is the name of the documentary.
Speaker 5 (38:35):
The Golden Boy.
Speaker 3 (38:36):
Apparently not so golden. A lot of stuff behind the scenes.
Speaker 1 (38:41):
From what I heard.
Speaker 15 (38:45):
Sorry, guys, I don't know if you guys saw this,
but the Las Vegas area police have issued a search.
Weren't in the two function murder investigation. You guys seen that?

In Las Vegas.
Speaker 1 (38:55):
Yeah, they've raised today.
Speaker 5 (38:58):
I raided a house and there was a shootout, right, Yep,
they've raided a house.
Speaker 15 (39:02):
They've got a bunch of computers, some AMMO a bunch
of different things. Are you, guys enter out on the
investigation or whether or not Tupac is alive?
Speaker 8 (39:11):
I'm out on him being alive, but I mean I
watch enough forensic fouls and now I'm in on something
can get solved many years later.
Speaker 3 (39:20):
Remember when there was the big question about whether or
not Elvis was still alive. I feel like one of
these times, somebody is going to be right about this.
Speaker 9 (39:30):
Something's gonna pop up.
Speaker 3 (39:32):
Where're sing like somebody will be alive, Like you're.
Speaker 1 (39:34):
Gonna how would Tupac not be seen by now?
Speaker 3 (39:38):
Yeah? The same thing with Elvis.
Speaker 1 (39:41):
Yeah, Like, well, you're hanging on to Elvis Elvis?
Speaker 9 (39:45):
Like, how old would Elvis.
Speaker 1 (39:46):
Be right now?
Speaker 3 (39:49):
I believe he was he was born in thirty five.
It's like, yeah, eighty eight.
Speaker 9 (39:54):
Yeah, I mean, there's less a chance of that. Jonas,
even though you're big into the old school stuff.
Speaker 2 (40:00):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (40:01):
I mean, Sam just played a drop from him calling
an NFL game. He was officiating an NFL game.
Speaker 1 (40:06):
Six was gi.
