something to you and got it slip my mind. What
was I going to say to you, Brady Quinn?
Speaker 4 (01:58):
I was going to knowing you, I mean, on a
daylight today after a couple of preseason football games, I
have no idea what will be on your mind.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
God, what the hell was I just? What was I
going to say to you? I was going to say
something to Brady Quinn. I was gonna it's gonna remind
you of something like it's August eleventh?
Speaker 3 (02:15):
Were you gonna remind me by using my full name
to identify who I am?
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Like I was just I was trying to walk in
and retrace my steps like Braden Tyler Quinn Friday, August eleventh. Uh,
it's you know, there was two preseason games. I got
a full sight. Ah, I know what it was. It's
a football Friday. Come on, Brady backing out those closed sticks.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
Yeah, all right, figured out.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Where I never heard this this? Come on it go on.
Speaker 5 (03:00):
Ye we're back in the news baby, big time. It
is two pros and a cup of Joe here on
a football Friday, Fox Sports Radio. And you mentioned it,
round of applause for the vamp job.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Just try buy us some time you mentioned it. We
did have some preseason football last night, and so of
course you know that the locusts were out in full
force on social media.
Speaker 6 (03:35):
C J.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
Stroud throws throws an early pick and of course, oh yeah,
oh we got everyone. Oh Yeah, it's over first preseason game.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
His agents no longer taking that photo next to him.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
Right now. We should check just so much. Check David.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
Does he have fewer photos that he did yesterday because
he deleted the CJ. Stroud picks. Somebody we should we
should check and look into that. I can't imagine even
though it's preseason. Everyone's all, it's just preseason. He was
probably nervous as hell stepping into that environment on the
road at Foxborough in his first ever NFL game. And
(04:17):
I don't care that he played limited time or whatever.
To me, that would still be nerve wracking to try
and step into that environment, even in a preseason atmosphere.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
Yeah, it's a game. That's the reality of it is.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
It's your first action as a rookie where you're live man,
You can be hit. The speed of the game is faster,
get the hits hurt that much more. I mean, all
those things are real, they're true, and it's another step
up once you get to the regular season. So for
for all rookies, I mean, the biggest thing is you
just want to be able to adapt to the speed
(04:53):
of the game when you get in there and you
go to your first practice you feel it. Then the
windows are tight, they close faster. It's just all those
things you have to adapt to as a player. It's
a heightened intensity to the game. And so look, last
night didn't work out well for him, right, limited action
that never helps either, where you get a small sample size.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
They weren't even protecting him that well. And on top of.
Speaker 4 (05:18):
That, you throw an interception where I mean, look, it
seemed like New England kind of had to beat on
him the whole time. But you don't make a judgment
off of four pass attempts. Okay, at limited time in
your first preseason game. You want to let him, you know,
continue to grow and play and get to the regular season.
Speaker 6 (05:35):
C J.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Stroud's going to be the starting quarterback.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
He's going to go through a learning curve like every
other rookie quarterback, and we'll see what it looks like
by the end of the season and once he gets
going in his career. But for the people who are
trying to land bast him or discredit him in any way.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
Like, just to have patience.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
Okay, it's his first start as a rookie and first
playing time as rookie.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
I was thinking about this I think if I was
an NFL player, I would want to play in the preseason,
and just because of kind of something that you touched
on there, not even so much just from the well,
you know, you need the reps. The reps always help
in my mind, but just the atmosphere, getting acclimated to
a game, a stadium, like the joint practices, training camp,
(06:22):
all that stuff must be nice. But I'd at least
want to be in the atmosphere of a game environment
to know that I'm ready for a season. And so
when people elect either not to play or coaches say
not to play and it's for health risks and all
that stuff, I would feel like I was less ready
to go Week one if I didn't at least have
(06:42):
some sort of action in the preseason. And it just
it seems like we've like and there's talk now like
how long before we have three games? I mean, they're
going to phase this down to two. Who knows what
happens at the preseason moving forward. I still think there's
a value in it.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
I know there's a huge value in it.
Speaker 4 (06:58):
I mean, for some people out there who feel like
the preseason doesn't matter, you are dead wrong.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
In some ways, the preseason is the most important game.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
Some of these guys who ever play it could be
their last football for starters. And the other point I'd
make is the back end of the roster guys, there
are guys that literally this, They might only see the
preseason for three years or so while they're in the league,
and they might never get any real live game action.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
That happens.
Speaker 4 (07:28):
Guys who make practice squads, Guys who bounce around team
to team, who end up being a reserve but not
even active on game day.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
Like that stuff happens.
Speaker 4 (07:36):
So it's incredibly important for guys who are are just
you know, trying to make the roster so they have
a job and could continue on their football career.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
And that's what's at stake.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
That's one of the reasons why I kind of love
watching like third, fourth, third, and fourth quarter of preseason
games because you see it, man, Like you see the
guys who are trying to do their best to show
out just so they have an opportunity.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
And like last night's game, Minnesota seatle.
Speaker 4 (08:00):
I mean, if you turned it off early, you probably
thought Minnesota was gonna drub them. I mean, Nick Moles
was dicing them up and then later on the game,
obviously you know, Drew Lock started to come together, the
whole dollars started to like come.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
I mean it just that's how Seattle rolls.
Speaker 4 (08:13):
Like in the preseason, everyone wants to make a big
deal about the win streak for the Baltimore Ravens. If
you're looking for another team to throw some money down
on at the Seattle Seahawks, like that's a Pete. Carroll
takes those games like their regular season games. He's the
type where every single chance they have an opportunity to
go out and play, they're trying to beat someone and
they're not trying to make it close. And I've loved that.
(08:35):
That's the one mentality that I kind of love about him.
But it's they are more important than I think people realize,
and I think for veteran guys, like the one thing
I always felt like was as a quarterback, you don't
get hitting camp every other position gets hit. It was
nice to get it out of the way, like the
getting out some of the soreness, getting out some of
the hits, and just the general feel for how you're
(08:57):
gonna get your body back right for the next week's game.
That was part of it too, I think for at
least a veteran guy when you don't have to worry
about getting cut, but you want to try to get
your body physically ready for the hits and the physicality
it's going to endure.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
So I want to ask you a question here, and
I want to improbable impromptu game show for you because
you mentioned you Seattle as being one of the teams
that really loves them some preseason football. They don't care
that it's preseason. They're out there to win games. And
Pete Carroll is a savage. I've got a list of
four coaches who are the best amongst current coaches against
(09:36):
the spread in the NFL preseason. Do you want to
try and take a crack at this? At ten after
six in the morning on the football frontday.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
I feel like I can get too. I don't know
I can get.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
Four, all right, So let me introduce this, ladies and gentlemen,
Brady Quinn step right up to the debut edition of
Can you Guess which coaches in the NFL cares so
much about the preseason that they are the best against
the spread? Take it away, Brady Quinn.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
Thanks for having me.
Speaker 4 (10:05):
Jonas First off, I just want to say hi to
my my Grandma Peg.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
She's somewhere out there. Pay Grandma Peg.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
I never thought i'd get on the show, but I'm
here today, so I'm representing Grandma Peg.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
By the way, is that Peg the Keg Peg?
Speaker 3 (10:17):
Yeah? Yeah, Well we don't want to call her that.
I mean, Grandma Keg is what somethings O goold call
her that too?
Speaker 4 (10:23):
Yeah, it's when it ends up being your your your
destination for parties.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
That's least what it two Grandma Grandma.
Speaker 4 (10:33):
Back to back to the preseason. We're gonna start off
with John Harbaugh.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
That is correct. John Harbor is correct. He has a shop.
The list against the Spread thirty eight sixteen and one
is John Harp.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
Pete Carroll.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
Pete Carroll is also on the list. He is twenty
six nineteen in one.
Speaker 4 (10:56):
Which is surprising because like there's been years, Like I
remember when I was with them back at thirteen, we won.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
All four all four three season games.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
Those are four to oh that year, so I'm surprised
the win lost records isn't better. These are all active coaches,
active coaches. Okay, Andy Reid.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
That is incorrect.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
Okay, Andy Reid.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
Now, I can give you a hint if you would
like a hint. Sure, right, this gentleman is a former wrestler,
Sean McDermott. That is correct, Sean McDermott. What if you
think about it makes some sense. He's a wrestler, you know.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
Yeah, he's never given Yeah, give it go.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
That's not happening. You know, anybody that knows, uh, great wrestlers.
There's a reason they got cauliflower here. They're willing to
set sacrifice. They're years yeah, and vanity, Oh yeah, it's
all just.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
To have an ear look like literally a piece of cauliflower.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
In fact, you know what the most common saying in
a wrestling room is headgear, miss, let's go get That's
what they say. Yeah, I think that's what they say.
So Sean McDermott is number three. And then there's one
remaining coach. And the hint that I'll give you on
this one remaining coach is he is a head coach
with experience in the role, but is now with a
(12:19):
brand new team Sean Payton. That is incorrect.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
Oh, like, just with the new team this year.
Speaker 1 (12:31):
Just with the new team this year. Somebody that we
have talked about this week. Interesting, Think former NFL quarterback.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
Why am I blanking on this right now?
Speaker 1 (12:47):
Think former NFL quarterback who helped orchestrate the greatest comeback
in NFL playoff history.
Speaker 3 (12:57):
Uh, the Patriot.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
Chris come back in NFL history is the Pages twenty
three comeback.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
There was one before that?
Speaker 3 (13:10):
Well, then it wasn't the greatest.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
Bills oilers? Now a head coach in the NFC South
formerly of the clown Show, that was the Indianapolis Colts.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
Oh, Frank Reich.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
That is Frank Reich. That is correct, Frank Reich eight
four and two they were.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
There wasn't the greatest comeback of all time?
Speaker 4 (13:44):
If the Patriots beating that's Falcons is always already the
greatest eight.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
Lead double check that they were down thirty five to
three in that game. If I'm not mistaken, were the
Buffalo Bills in that game? I'm almost positive it's the
great And if it's not, can we clean it up
post on the podcast? So it makes it sound like
we know what we're talking about here, So Lee has
got it.
Speaker 7 (14:05):
They were down thirty five to three.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
Yep, nineteen ninety three. That's how incredible that was against
that run and shoot oilers offense. But yeah, Frank Reich,
who never won a Week one game while head coach
of the Indianapolis Colts, but he was really good in
the preseason. He was eight four and two as a
head coach in the preseason, which is kind of kind
of strange. But yeah, those are your best coaches. And
(14:27):
then the worst coaches as far as against the spread
in the preseason would be Matt Lafleur, Doug Peterson, Dennis Allen,
and Andy Reid. So those wowers.
Speaker 4 (14:39):
Yeah, that's a bit surprising, but it guess to show
you Andy Reid could care less.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
Yeah, does he care as long as Patrick Mahomes doesn't
get him.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
Peterson's done well and obviously, yeah that's.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
Interesting, but yeah, that is. That is a look at
what you can expect from the preseason. It I just
I do find it funny though, that John Harbaugh tries
to play it off like, oh, no, listen, we're just
you know, we're out there competing. Our guys are competing.
It's like, dude, you won what eighteen in a row?
Like you mean to tell me it?
Speaker 3 (15:05):
Like, no, he's won twenty three in a row, right,
is it?
Speaker 1 (15:08):
However many in a row that he's won, He's won
that many exhibition games in a row, and he's.
Speaker 3 (15:15):
Just what's surprising.
Speaker 4 (15:16):
You said, he's thirty eight and seventeen thirty eight sixteen one, thirty.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
Eight, sixteen to one, So think about that, like he's one.
Speaker 4 (15:23):
I think the streak is twenty three consecutive preseason games.
Think at one point they struggled then, right do you think.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
You saw his record? It gets the spread and was like,
I'm not okay with this. We need to start running
up the score late in these games. I don't care.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
I mean sometimes you get coaches that are friendly enough
in preseason they'll be like, hey, make sure you're throwing
some blitzer, or they'll like tell each other before the game,
like what they want to test each other's team on,
you know, and unless they play them in the regular season,
which sometimes does happen.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
But yeah, for the most part, like they're.
Speaker 4 (15:57):
Like kind of chummy asking the like hey test the
sky on this, or do this on third down if
you can, or whatever else, like it's not as competitive
as you think.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
Sometimes, well, I think that streaks in trouble this weekend
and we're going to touch on that later on. It
is Two Pros and a Cup of Joe here on
Fox Sports Radio, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knocks with you. So
we are going to have the usuals coming up later.
We've got in case you missed it, and we've got
you and you out. We also are going to prove
to you how big of degenerates we actually are. We're
going to do something that I don't know if anybody
(16:26):
has done in the history of sports talk radio. So
that'll be coming up an hour two of the program.
It's all yours, a three hour extravaganza here on Fox
Sports Radio. But we do have ourselves some clarity at
the quarterback position for one team in the NFL, and
we'll tell you who that is next.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
Pros and a Cup of Joe Fox Sports Radio. Brady Quinn,
Jonas Knox with you here coming up in we'll call
it about twenty minutes from now. There's a a certain crime,
a crime that has been portrayed in movies for decades,
and apparently that crime has reached the NFL. We'll tell
(17:21):
you what that is, coming up twenty minutes from now
here from the tairaq dot com studios. And by the way,
you know, Brad, I don't know if you knew this
or not, but Moncey Bolanos is doing the updates today
and okay, I just don't know if you're ready for
what's about to happen in a few minutes. Just not
sure if you're ready.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
What does that mean.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
I'm just not sure if you're ready for Enrique Iglesias
this early in the morning. So oh yeah, oh yeah,
you guys have.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
A thing you do.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
Yeah, that's all right, It's cute, sweet it what's sweeping
n It's really sweeping the nation.
Speaker 4 (17:49):
You kind of got a lot of things going on
late with everyone like you and Mancy of that. You
and Iowa Sam have your uh just degenerate gambling activities
because he's from Iowa. You and Lee have your liquor
store stories and we could almost create different segments around that.
Speaker 1 (18:05):
You know, I also have something with you because I
am wearing a third and goal sweater that I picked
up in double.
Speaker 4 (18:12):
In Ohio years say a sweater, Yeah, I'm not a
sweatshirt A sweater.
Speaker 1 (18:17):
Yeah, it's well sweatshirt, little hoodie.
Speaker 4 (18:19):
I was gonna say, because if it's a sweater, that's
the first I've ever heard of it, So maybe maybe
someone made one.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
Pretty sure it's a small you know, but it fits snug.
And I figured, you know what, there's a big charity
golf tournament in Ohio this weekend. I figured, why don't
I just you know, support my buddy here.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
You know, I didn't even know we made sweatshirts.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
I've made a couple of calls. I got ends, a
little behind the scenes stuff. I need a hooded sweatshirt.
I'd like it gray, and I'd like it snug. Like
how snug I said, I want to look to look
like it's a spray tan except in gray. And here
we are.
Speaker 4 (18:54):
You wanted to look like a like vacuum sealed that
sweatshirt to your body.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
Is that that's correct?
Speaker 3 (19:00):
Okay?
Speaker 1 (19:00):
Got to keep the meat good for as long as possible,
you know, throw it in the freezer. So that's what
we got here. Everybody's supporting everybody here on a football Friday.
That's the way this thing operates. And by the way,
apparently Todd Bowles is going to support Baker Mayfield because
Baker Mayfield in a stunning development. This is an absolute shocker.
Nobody saw this coming. Nobody on this show predicted this
(19:23):
is the way this thing should go. But apparently, longtime
NFL reporter Ira Kauffman says that the Bucks have made
the decision internally that Baker Mayfield will be the starter
week one. I am blown away by this developing situation
because I thought, for sure the fact that Baker Mayfield
was starting the first preseason game meant nothing. It was
(19:44):
just simply draw straws, do what you need to do,
come up with somebody to play under center. But apparently
Baker Mayfield is going to be the guy Week one
for those Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Speaker 4 (19:55):
So, I mean, I think people on the outside kind
of knew this was coming. However, with the way they
want to out their depth chart for the preseason and
the way they they talked about, Hey, Baker will start
a game, Kyle will start a game. Okay, I mean
everyone got the sense that when you signed Baker Mayfield
that was the direction that you were going.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
I think that was.
Speaker 4 (20:14):
People's anticipation too, based on how things worked out in camp,
at least what they've been able to see so far.
So this doesn't come off as overly a surprise. I mean,
I'm excited for his opportunity. I hope he can, you know,
find a place where he can excel and he could
be the guy that he was hoping to be during
his time in Cleveland as far as this goes, I mean,
you can't be overly surprised by.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
This, right, No, And I think this is the way
that this was going to go and the fact that
he got like anybody is it. Can we just make
it a rule if there's a quote unquote quarterback competition
in camp, whoever starts the first preseason game is the
guy guy?
Speaker 3 (20:48):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (20:49):
Like, I don't like, what what's with the semantics? What's
with the Todd Bowles not ready to announce anybody? And what?
Like do you think the Pittsburgh Steelers are they really
like worried about whether or not it's going to be
Kyle Trask or Baker Mayfield that starts the first preseason
Get like the idea that he's just trying to keep
everything close to the vest. It feels like it's going
to be Baker Mayfield. He's going to get an opportunity,
(21:11):
and if he struggles, Kyle Trask will get his opportunity.
Like that's that's what it feels like there. But it
just it's odd that this whole thing has played out
the way that it's done, and it seems like a
lot of coaches do it. I don't understand it.
Speaker 3 (21:23):
But I don't.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
Baker's Baker's going to get his shot, and maybe this
will be his first legitimate shot he's gotten since quarterbacking
the Cleveland Browns and by the way, the guy who
did help win them a playoff game in Pittsburgh years ago,
which gets forgotten and everyone just sort of dismisses his
career as if he never did anything in the league
(21:45):
and never played good football, which is odd. I don't
understand the dislike of the guy. But he's in Tampa
Bay and hopefully this does work out, because it does
feel like this could be his last shot right as
far as being a legitimate starting quarterback right, which is
crazy to think about because he was only drafted in
twenty eighteen. It so literally five years this is what
(22:05):
you got and everything's on the line as he plays
for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a team who was over
under wind totals projected at six and a half. Oh,
that's a that's a rough way to go, rough way
to go into year five for Baker Mayfield.
Speaker 4 (22:18):
Well, no, he's already bounced through outs his fourth team
in five years.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
Yeah, and the amount of turnover he dealt with early
in Cleveland, but that'll all get lost in the conversation
about him and people are going to call him a
disappointment when you had how many different head coaches the
Hugh Jackson experiment, you know, was a Kitchens who took
(22:43):
over there, that took over the job. You had Greg
Williams who took over the job. It just felt like
there were the Odell Beckham junior and his dad criticizing
him publicly. It just felt like there was a lot
more going on there. But he ended up being the
fall guy and he's the one that had to go.
And they were talking what thirty million dollar contract extension
before the Yeah, Jesus man, just like that that quick
(23:07):
and we just we just move on and read everybody's
story and just say We've see all we need to
see from these guys. Right, it's just weird, doesn't make
any sense. But here's what does make sense. Tyre Iraq,
you know what I'm talking about. You've been to Tyraq,
you drove around them the test track.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
It's the best.

com sponsored by tire rack dot Com. The way tire
buying should be it is two pros and a cup
of Joe. Here on Fox Sports Radio, we are going
to have another edition of incase you missed it, coming
up here shortly. But for all the latest from around
the world of sports. Ladies and gentlemen, say good morning
(24:20):
to the one, to the Only Monsey. But on you let.
Speaker 8 (24:28):
Me up to taking over everybody. I'm your Yeah, yeah,
good morning about it?
Speaker 1 (24:37):
You are ready for that?
Speaker 9 (24:39):
This is how we wake up? Yes, yes, yes, oh fellas.
Preseason in the NFL is in full swing. Two games
on Thursday night, the Texans beat the Patriots twenty to nine,
(25:01):
but Ricky quarterback C. J.
Speaker 10 (25:02):
Stroud had a rough outing, to say the least. He
completed two of four passes for just thirteen yards one interception.
He did say after that he was going to learn
from his errors and keep growing. The Seahawks un defeated
the Vikings twenty four to thirteen. No Kirk Cousins or
Gino Smith in this one, but Drew Locke completed seventeen
of twenty four passes for Seattle. He had one hundred
(25:22):
and ninety one yards in the air, two touchdowns, and
one interception. Seattle wide receiver Kay Johnson was taken to
a hospital during halftime to be evaluated for head and
neck injuries.
Speaker 8 (25:32):
The team did say he was in stable condition.
Speaker 10 (25:35):
San Francisco forty nine Ers head coach Kyle shanahantle reporters
that tight end George Kittle has an adductor strain.
Speaker 8 (25:41):
He's expected to be out a week. Wide. Receiver and
returner Ray Ray McCloud has a broken wrist. He's expected
to miss about eight weeks.
Speaker 10 (25:49):
Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steiken announced that rookie quarterback
Anthony Richardson will start Saturday's preseason opener at Buffalo.
Speaker 8 (25:57):
Eight baseball games took place on Thursday night.
Speaker 10 (25:59):
The Pirates came back from behind to beat the Braves
seven to five, but Matt Olsen he is just so good.
Speaker 8 (26:05):
He hit home run number forty on the season in
the loss.
Speaker 10 (26:09):
The Orioles edge the Astros five to four, extending Baltimore
streak to seventy six series without being swept. That is
not a typo. Guardians top the Blue Jays for to three.
The Tigers blank the Twins three zero. Minnesota has lost
three in a row. Cardinals beat the Rays five to two.
The Phillies defeated the National six to two, but Bryce
Harper left the game with back spasms. He is considered
(26:32):
day to day. The Red Sox blank the Royals two zero.
Nobody cares about that one. But the Dodgers, they've won five.
Speaker 3 (26:37):
In a row.
Speaker 8 (26:38):
They beat the Rockies two to one.
Speaker 10 (26:40):
Max Munsey tied the game in the seventh inning with
a solo shot and then he drew a bases loaded
to outwalk to force the go ahead run in the
eighth inning.
Speaker 8 (26:49):
So five in a row for LA. They are nine
to one in the last ten games. That's right back
to you, guys.
Speaker 1 (26:56):
There it is, Thank you Monci. It is two pros
and Cup of Joe here on Fox Radio. I don't
know if we can do that for every update, but
at least one more. We got one more, Oh for sure,
Oh for sure. It's you a little tropical on a
Friday morning.
Speaker 6 (27:11):
More.
Speaker 1 (27:12):
Come on, Brady, you're not into little Enrique Iglesias. He's
got a couple of hours.
Speaker 3 (27:17):
No, yeah, that's your guys thing. You guys can keep going.
Speaker 1 (27:21):
With that, all right. So we are going to have
in case you missed it, coming up here shortly. But
you mentioned the Orioles in the update, and god, I'm
sure it had nothing to do with the backlash they got.
But Kevin Brown, the broadcaster who was punished for no
reason whatsoever simply pointing out stats. Apparently he's going to
be making his return to the broadcast booth coming up
(27:44):
on Friday. Wouldn't that make you think twice about just
the organization in general? And I don't know contractual statuses,
and those jobs are rare, there's only thirty of them
in Major League Baseball, But that would make me think
twice about who I'm working for if I do that.
And it took all all of this for them to realize, yeah,
maybe we made a little bit of a mistake.
Speaker 3 (28:04):
Oh, without a doubt.
Speaker 4 (28:05):
I mean, I think for anyone in broadcasting, if you're
looking at working with the team, which for some people
is like the ultimate goal is to have that opportunity
to travel with them, you know, be around them on
a more full time basis. It just it feels more
like a team, It feels more like a family. And
then for to have them pull the rug from out
underneath you, for you stating facts of how poorly a
(28:28):
team has played against another team, who will, by the way,
is not like some sloush Yeah.
Speaker 3 (28:33):
Yeah, it's a.
Speaker 4 (28:34):
Little disheartening to think that every time you go on air,
now you have to be so measured with what you say,
only worried about could the next thing I say that's
a fact or a stat that's not overly complimentary about
our team be what gets me fired. I mean that
that's at least the world that I think he's got
to be living in right now, given all what's taking place.
(28:56):
But good, good for good to all those who supported
him online who drew attention to it. I know there
was a broadcast group I think I forget who was for,
but they were like throwing shade basically at the Baltimore Orioles,
which is good, like.
Speaker 3 (29:11):
They deserve it for their history of a with Kevin Brown.
Speaker 4 (29:15):
But also be say there's a power out, it's just
so cow Ripkin could extend his strue.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
That is true, and again we're not trying to spread
any sort of reckless allegations about caw Ripken.
Speaker 4 (29:26):
I think you should add further context to that. I mean,
what was actually taking place and what exactly happened that night?
Speaker 1 (29:33):
Look, this is you know there's been one of these stories,
one of these conspiracy theories that have been out there
about several times during caw Ripkin's consecutive game streak that
you know, maybe Cow couldn't play that game, and just coincidentally,
the power went out at the stadium or there was
a flood or there was something like that, so they
could keep the consecutive game streak going and he could
(29:54):
continue being the iron Man of baseball and break the
all time record. And one of the the stories that
was out there was that Kevin Costner was staying and
hanging out with Cal Ripkin Junior, and he was getting
ready to do a movie called for Love of the Game,
and he just wanted to go through the everyday process
(30:17):
for a major league baseball player to get ready for
the role. And that you know, him and Cal had
become close and Cal Ripken was on his way to
to the stadium one night and then realized, oh, I
forgot something. And when he went back to his place,
you know, Kevin Costner and Missus Ripkin weren't expecting him,
and maybe Cal Ripkin might have walked in on something
(30:39):
that he wasn't expecting, wasn't happy about it, and mayor
he may or may not have beaten the hell out
of Kevin Costner, and that led to a delay and
led to a delayed arrival and next thing you know,
the power doesn't work at the stadium. I mean that,
and that was thrown out there. That's been one of
those old stories. And that story was actually talked about
on the air here at Fox Sports Radio years ago,
(31:00):
and Kevin Costner happened to be listening and agreed to
call into the show and deny all the accusations and
allegations and rumors that were out there. And apparently him
and Cal Ripken laughed about it later, according to Kevin Costner,
because that had been one of the stories. But there's
been a lot of that going on in Baltimore. Someone
called Shenanigans to try and make sure they can keep
(31:21):
a consecutive game streak going for Cal Ripkin Jr.
Speaker 4 (31:24):
So just to be clear, this is a rumor, this
is not actually factual. Yet you keep perpetuating the story
almost like it Israel.
Speaker 1 (31:31):
I'm not listen, I'm just relaying one of the old
stories that's been out there. I don't know if it's
a wives tale or if it's just a rumor, but
that is something that's been out there that a lot
of people speculated on that Kevin Costner himself, a listener
to Fox Sports Radio apparently called in to refute. So
that is just one of the things that has happened
(31:52):
here in the long history of great moments in the
history of sports talk radio, you know, and there's been
a lot of those great moments here, as.
Speaker 3 (32:01):
There's been a ton of great moments. But I think
more importantly the fact that it's a rumor.
Speaker 4 (32:06):
There's no validity whatsoever to the story outside of the
fact that you keep telling it like it's a real story.
Speaker 1 (32:12):
I mean, look, there are stuff that you have to
talk about. It's not that you believe those things. You
just throw them out because they're out there and they're interesting.
Flat Earth.
Speaker 3 (32:21):
Give me the thoughts on aliens, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (32:22):
Okay, aliens. I find it a little bit odd that
all of a sudden, now we're starting to acknowledge that
they may or may not exist. It makes you wonder,
what are they trying to distract us with. Oh, hey,
what do you know? They just happen to possibly exist,
And maybe we've seen people in the Navy who have seen,
(32:44):
you know, alien spacecrafts and stuff from elsewhere, and it's like, okay,
what else are you distracting us from? You know, bigfoot, lockinness, monster,
all that stuff. You know, It's just I put that
in the same vein, in the same category as a
lot of these conspiracies, So flat earth, giant people. Have
(33:04):
you heard the one about giant people?
Speaker 3 (33:06):
Back in Oh, tell me more about giant people.
Speaker 1 (33:07):
There was like twenty foot tall human beings that used
to walk the earth. That was like one of those
things they found bones.
Speaker 3 (33:13):
Well called that Yao Ming.
Speaker 1 (33:14):
Isn't that just I mean Sam, like, that's I mean,
it was a huge bitch.
Speaker 3 (33:20):
Yeah was what seven six is? Seven seven? Mean? Seven seven?
Speaker 1 (33:23):
When he was playing he was a big guy.
Speaker 3 (33:26):
I mean, you got to think he's probably like shrunk
at least an inch or two even.
Speaker 1 (33:31):
If he has still well like what what like, what's
what's the shortest he gets? Stacked the whole? Kogan told
a story with all all his years in wrestling, like
when he was in his prime, he was six seven
six ' eight, that he shrunk down to below six
four because of all the surgeries and everything and the
stuff they had to do to him. That he that
he shrunk down that much. So even if if you're
(33:52):
Yao Ming, like, even if you shrink, you can still
dunk a basketball on your knees, Like, what a feat
What an impressive human being he is?
Speaker 3 (34:04):
Is that documented?
Speaker 1 (34:05):
No, but neither is the cal Ripkin stuff. And we
still talk about it.
Speaker 3 (34:08):
So well you you still talk about it. I don't
know many other people that openly talk about that.
Speaker 1 (34:12):
Hey, you teed me up for a conspiracy involving the Orioles,
and that's the best I got. All right, Well, we
thank you, Mike.
Speaker 4 (34:20):
Outside of cal Ripkin, that's probably as exciting as it
gets for.
Speaker 1 (34:23):
We didn't the Orioles have Albert Bell at one time.
And last last I checked Albert Bell was.
Speaker 4 (34:29):
That the did he threaten the reporter in Baltimore or
was it in Cleveland? I was like a photographer or something.
Speaker 3 (34:37):
That there was an incident.
Speaker 1 (34:38):
My favorite was when he threatened trick or treaders with
a Louisville slugger. I'm almost positive I have that correct.
Can we just confer that I'm almost positive Albert Bell
got in trouble for threatening kids trick or treating with
a baseball bat. So apparently he's a little bit of
a hothead. But he played for your boyhood team, so
(34:58):
it's not surprise and considering it was a former Cleveland
team name that we can't say or else we'll get canceled.
So there's the update on Albert Bell. And by the way,
that will conclude our coverage of Major League Baseball here
on a football Friday. So I feel like we've really
done the sport and the league has something great and
a great service here on a Friday, as we talk
(35:19):
about preseason action as well too. It is Two Pros
and a Cup of Joe on Fox Sports Radio. Brady Quinn,
Jonas Knox with you. All right, So coming up next
here from the tirak dot com studios, this is one
of the portrayals and movies that we've seen for years
and years. It is a crime, and apparently that crime
has reached the NFL, and we've got the proof that's next.
Speaker 2 (35:42):

a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington, and

Speaker 1 (36:57):
Two pros and a cup of Joe, Fox Sports Brady Quinn,
Jonas Knox with you here, coming up top of next
hour a little over ten minutes from now. One of
the great more entertaining stories that we have discussed over
the past several days here on this show. Apparently there's
another layer to it, several layers to it. It's worse
than a lot of people realized. We'll have that for
you again, coming up a little over ten minutes from now,
(37:18):
before we get to another edition of In case you
missed it, though, I want to let you know. We
are brought to you by Progressive Insurance. Progressive makes bundling

Sometimes you can't get to everything in the world of
sports or entertainment. Good thing, the guys are here to
bring you in case you missed it.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
For that, we turn it over to our executive producer,
Lee Digital Lap Morning everybody, Good morning Jones, Good morning Bertie.
Speaker 7 (37:53):
Cause, first off, a little bit of a housekeeping we
were talking about Lee. Uh yeah, I had to look
back on this story. Back in the Halloween nineteen ninety five,
Albert Beld did chase down a couple of teens who
got in a confrontation with his father who refused to
give them candy, so they decided to egg their house.
Speaker 1 (38:11):
He got in the car.
Speaker 8 (38:13):
Hey, he got in the car and chased him down.
Speaker 7 (38:16):
Called police saying he's gonna kill these kids, and ended
up allegedly running one of them over.
Speaker 1 (38:23):
Hey, can I be to be fair though? I feel
like that that is at least somewhat equal to agging
a house. It can be, man. You know, eggs are
gross on a wall on you know, stucco.
Speaker 3 (38:38):
All they take off paint, don't they.
Speaker 1 (38:39):
Yeah, t being is harmless.
Speaker 3 (38:42):
Egging is harmless.
Speaker 4 (38:44):
I mean it eventually will like disintegrate with the rain
and all that, but it still takes time to spread
it down.
Speaker 1 (38:50):
Was it was that while he was in Cleveland or Chicagoland?
Speaker 3 (38:56):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (38:56):
Oh yeah, okay, so I could have sworn he like
threatened a photographer or something.
Speaker 3 (39:02):
So yeah, I thought that was somewhere in there. God,
I loved Albert Bell.
Speaker 1 (39:06):
He was awesome.
Speaker 3 (39:07):
He was amazing.
Speaker 1 (39:08):
Do you remember the time that he got hit with
a pitch and refused to take his base, just wanted
to continue to stand in there. Yes, he was playing
the wrongs for man.
Speaker 3 (39:18):
That should be a rule, by the way, Yeah, you
have the option. Yeah, well why not. You're the one
that got hit exactly, shouldn't you have the option?
Speaker 1 (39:25):
Totally agree, Yeah, that should be a rule.
Speaker 4 (39:27):
Count as a ball and then give him the opporunity
if he wants to stay there.
Speaker 1 (39:31):
Yeah, if they're doing pitchclock violations and they're you know,
marking balls, and just telling people, Hey, you know you
waited too long. That's a ball or that's a strike,
depending on who the violator is. You should absolutely have
the option whether or not you want to take the base.
I'm with you. So you just cleared it up. You're
welcome to MLB. What else we got lee, guys?
Speaker 7 (39:50):
In case you missed it, Former NFL quarterback Buster Screen
was arrested in Canada on Wednesday on charges related to
alleged bank fraud. According to TMZ, Screen would allegedly open
up multiple bank accounts across the country using counterfeit checks
and then withdrawing a portion of the funds before the
checks could be identified as fraudulent. He's facing fourteen charges.
Speaker 1 (40:11):
Yeah, that's that.
Speaker 3 (40:13):
The dude made forty million dollars in his career and he's.
Speaker 8 (40:18):
One hundred thousand dollars.
Speaker 3 (40:19):
I mean for bank frauds, Like why would what's the point, dude?
Speaker 1 (40:22):
Inflation? Dude, I mean, forty million dollars.
Speaker 3 (40:25):
After taxes, you should have at least twenty Yeah in
the bank.
Speaker 1 (40:29):
That's not what it used to be. You know, like
this that one hundred thousand dollars could go a long way.
Speaker 3 (40:34):
Did we talk about Damon Arnette and what he was doing.
Did you see this?
Speaker 1 (40:38):
I know what was that? Again? He was stealing jewelry
from an ig model?
Speaker 3 (40:42):
Well what else he was doing?
Speaker 4 (40:44):
He was taking their phone and he was like like
basically closing out their account, like sending himself money from
their sell account.
Speaker 1 (40:52):
Wait really, yeah.
Speaker 8 (40:55):
You could do that.
Speaker 3 (40:56):
Apparently he's done it with multiple women. It wasn't the
first time.
Speaker 6 (40:59):
Like this.
Speaker 3 (41:00):
You model accused him of it.
Speaker 1 (41:02):
That's a hell of a date. Yeah, I mean, you know,
probably he picked up the check. He picked up it. No, no,
you did, You just didn't know it. Yeah, that was
not him in this case.
Speaker 3 (41:12):
They like have him on camera doing it too, like
coy redhanded.
Speaker 1 (41:16):
By the way, was it was he a Raiders first
round pick?
Speaker 3 (41:19):
He was great cornerback.
Speaker 1 (41:20):
Yeah yeah that did not. That did not go well, No,
it did not. Yeah, that's no ideal Lee anything else?
Speaker 3 (41:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (41:28):
One more high school athletic director allegedly stole over forty
thousand dollars using a visa gift cards to fund his
betting habits.
Speaker 3 (41:38):
Oh geez, he probably thought he was gonna be able
to make them rich off it. You know, why not?
Speaker 2 (41:43):
