Speaker 1 (00:01):
It's the best of two pros and a couple. Joe
with LaVar arrings and rating Win and Jonas Knox on.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Radio LaVar Arrington back in the house.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
Good morning, good morning, Good morning, que Good morning Jonas.
We missed you, man. I missed you guys a whole
lot while I was in dreamland. Yeah, did you Uh?
I was in dreamland, like I missed you and Jonas
and all our listeners. I know they're getting great content.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
Though.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Now, how often when you were wait, did you wake
up at the same time just body clock?

Speaker 3 (00:39):
Remember every time I was actually awake orang show, I
actually thought about calling in or even uh, you know,
going through the comracks to come onto the show. Now,
I was like, I thought better of it. I didn't
want to disrupt you guys. No, you need that time away.
You earned it. I was there though, I was here.
I just you know, let you go sort of.

Speaker 4 (01:02):
You were you were adventuring out and you were going
different places. I was.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
I was down your way. I was down your way. Yeah,
for a few days. It was pretty cool. Yeah, man,
Fort Lauderdale. I ended up in Coral Gables, had a
nice little little little deal there and saw practice I
didn't even realize Jason Taylor was coaching Miami. I didn't.
I didn't realize that he.

Speaker 5 (01:23):
Got into coaching at It's interesting actually, right because one
of his sons obviously is playing.

Speaker 4 (01:29):
L s U.

Speaker 5 (01:29):
Right, but he had he had originally started coaching Saint
Thomas Aquinas, right.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
I think that's where it was at.

Speaker 5 (01:35):
Was like whoa those dudes like all like everyone played
everyone was you know, like when you have a Hall
of Fame or your staff, you're like.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
Okay, that's where the boastas went, right, Yeah, Yeah, they'd
be bawling out down there. Man. That's there. They're they're
like one of I don't know if there's still Under
Armours one of Under Armour's main main schools, but it
was Under Armour's main school for for a while.

Speaker 5 (01:59):
Say this all the time that like Dade and Broward County,
basically where you were at, they have more Division one
scholarships just those two counties of Florida than like seven
states combined.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
It is ridiculous how much talent is down there.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
It was. It was pretty cool being on the practice field.
I ain't gonna lie. And then the linebackers came up
to me after the practice. I was like, I said,
what that for? Y'all walking up to meet Forty said,
we gotta we got to meet one of the goats.
I said, man, y'all, don't take your asses somewhere. Thank you.
I appreciate it. Yeah, you ain't looked on the wall lately.

(02:39):
You see who's on y'all's wall? Just say hi to me?
All right? It was cool though. Man, they look pretty
good too. You know Chrystal Balls, He's he's an interesting dude.
I got a little bit of time with him. He's
a pretty cool character. You know, he speaks and you know,
parables and phrases and stuff like that. You know, he's
like real creative in his thoughts. So he's pretty cool.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
Dude.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
Man, how long is his leash?

Speaker 6 (03:04):
There?

Speaker 3 (03:04):
Is? He gonna be there while? Man, he loves Miami.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
Yeah, I mean, he's got a lot of roots down.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
There, and he came from you know, he came from there.

Speaker 5 (03:11):
I mean the problem is they they moved to him
and then there's really to me that I think there's
a decently long leash.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
But last year was was a little bit disappointing.

Speaker 5 (03:24):
You know, I think everyone's hoping for this jump where
you get Miami competitive with the Clemsons, the Florida States
of the ACC and and and we'll see, we'll see
how fast they can get up to that point. But
I think he's got a little longer leash than most realize.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Yes, it's going to take a little bit longer than
next year. Yeah, it'll take a little bit longer than
next year. But they are hitting in the right direction.
I mean they are, you know, they are getting super
competitive and and and their race for for talent we'll
call it, is that what it should be called these days?

Speaker 5 (03:59):
Like are well, yeah, they're big. Let's just call it
the engine that was helping some of that maybe maybe
under a little bit of.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Scrutiny right now, Oh, what's his name again?

Speaker 4 (04:10):
I'm not gonna say names. Okay, there's a company called
life Wallet. I'll leave it at that. Go look up
at what's happening with life wallet right now.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Thanks.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Yeah, that could be troublesome. Here's what's not troublesome When
you won twenty four straight preseason games.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Okay, okay, Harball okay, okay, it was Baltimore Raves k Hardy.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
John Harbaugh is now forty four and twelve in the
preseason in his career. That's a seven eighty six winning percentage.
And the Baltimore Ravens clearly care about this a lot.
I don't know how you just accidentally win twenty four
straight preseason games as they took care of Philly, which,
by the way, I mean there were a couple of
guys that mentioned Philly plus five and a half I

(04:52):
believe last week tried to tell everybody little financial.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
You were one of them. I don't know why you're
co signing this.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
What are you talking about?

Speaker 4 (04:59):
I'm saying exactly what I said.

Speaker 5 (05:01):
Then is I made the statement and you kind of
like came around to it.

Speaker 4 (05:05):
Now your co signed, like yells you right there?

Speaker 3 (05:06):
Weld on a second. I'm almost positive I was leading
you to water there. I wanted. I wanted you to
get there and say, yeah, we got here together.

Speaker 5 (05:13):
No sense, that's unfair, No, sir, Yeah, this is Have
you ever noticed that LeVar, like Jonas, loves piggybacks like
he would love to be like, hey, can I think
a piggyback ride? Like okay, Jonas sale, jump on, here
we go, Like he loves that, especially in gambling.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
Hold on, I presented my argument for Nick Sirianni. It's
got a little bit of a red ass. Nick Sirianni
would I would love nothing more than to break this streak,
and they're going to try and be as competitive as possible.
I think there's going to be a discussion about it.
He strikes me as that type of guy. He's the
same guy who yelled at the Cowboys sidelines if you
that's game last year. He's a competitive guy. And so

(05:50):
my presentation led to a joint pick on the airs.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
It was close.

Speaker 5 (05:57):
Oh yeah, we didn't say Baltimore was going to lose,
just saying like the both rosters are pretty deep, Like
that's what you're looking for in preseason when you see
these like first string to third string rosters where you're like, man,
it's like competitive roster, Like dudes are dying to try
to make that We like, as just Jonas is saying,
he went through whatever he said, which was, you know

(06:17):
who knows Philly's got Philly had a very competitive, like
second third, fourth string quarterback situation, so you know all
those dudes are gonna come in and try to be dealing,
which Tanner m'key I thought did a pretty good job.
And then but the rest of the roster is gonna
match up well. So it was a very competitive game.
Baltimore kept their streak easy money though, with Philly covering,

(06:37):
which obviously the best part is when that stuff goes
down on social media, all these Baltimore Ravens heads.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
Look, oh, no way, bro, you're just hating all the Ravens. Man,
you don't believe.

Speaker 5 (06:46):
I'm like, all right, watch watch what happens. We've seen
this story before.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
Yea hat Ravens. Jalen Carter looked pretty good. First play, Yeah,
blew it up. Then it seems it seems like he's
gonna make an impact in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (07:00):
He's a bit We were like, wait, what was the
big coescern before that?

Speaker 3 (07:04):
His his character issues, I feel. Then he put that
character on that that offensive lineman and showed a little
bit of that that character getting off of them, and
then a little bit of character getting to the quarterback
and mean showed a whole lot of character.

Speaker 4 (07:21):
Yeah about about red ass.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
Yeah yeah, so Labar Puffy.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
One of the things that happens when you leave us
sometimes we make questionable decisions, like make picks against the
spread on every single preseason game over the weekend. Maybe
not the greatest idea of the world. I mean it
sped by, I mean if it literally flew by, so.

Speaker 4 (07:41):
Terrible segments it took. So it was one of the
worst segments we've ever done.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
Lee, would you say that's the worst, one of the
worst segments we've ever done.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
I would disagree. I would disagree. Say it was one
of the greatest segments.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Yeah, Wow, nobody's got the balls to bet on preseason
I wasn't.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
I wasn't even here. Yeah, it was the greatest segment
of all time.

Speaker 7 (08:00):
That definitely made the most money or lost the most money.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
So, Lee, do we have the results because there are
fourteen games over the weekend that we picked preseason games
against the spread. We just mentioned Philly plus five and
a half.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
I'm excited to hear about this. All right, So did
you get that? You got that right? You're saying, yeah,
of course, and Q you got it right. Yeah, okay,
So I guess we'll go to the official scorecards for
this time.

Speaker 7 (08:23):
That is correct, You got that right, and you both
got you both agreed on four No excuse me, you
guys agreed on nine of the fourteen games. Yeah, and
you guys went four and five on that, so you
got that Philly would cover.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
You also got the upsets.

Speaker 7 (08:39):
Of Detroit over the Giants, Yeah, Buffalo over Indy, and
the Chargers beating the Rams.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
And then what was the overall records for US?

Speaker 7 (08:46):
So for the overall record for you guys head to head, Jonas,
you went four and one against.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
Brady and what did Brady get? Brady went one in four. Yeah, listen, man,
I'm telling you.

Speaker 4 (08:58):
You know what I did, LeVar.

Speaker 5 (08:59):
There were so many home underdogs and I'm like, I
don't understand all these home teams are getting like they're
getting four and a half five points. It was ridiculous,
and that strategy did not prove to be right. In fact,
the Carolina Panthers thank you for showing up just to
be there at the game, because outside of that, you
did nothing the entire time.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
Yeah, I'd imagine they're not pretty pleased with the offensive
lines performance in that game because.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
Bryce was getting touched for sir, oh boy, I mean
man lifting off the ground.

Speaker 5 (09:29):
The Jets literally, I think they're their facilities in Florham Park,
New Jersey. They moved their team meetings to the spot
there in the pocket where any of the Carolina Panthers
quarterbacks were via Bryce Young, Matt Corrall, whoever.

Speaker 4 (09:43):
You want to talk about.

Speaker 5 (09:44):
They literally picked up moved their entire defensive meeting room
right there, right there at where the quarterbacks drop back.

Speaker 3 (09:51):
Yeah, Frank Steve Smith as funny as colleague though, because
he's still in fight mode. Steve's still in fight moot
man can tell by the way you be talking. Yeah,
I don't know if he's upset, but he just seems
like he's still mad, like you know, calling the.

Speaker 8 (10:09):
Game ready to throw down, you know, I don't know,
I don't know, he gets feisty, Like I know in
the NFL Network pregame shows, he'll get feisty a little bit.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
He'll have back, Like would you ever be okay disagreeing
with him in person? Like I feel like, like man,
like I really got to be ready to throw down
with with Steve if I disagree with him. Yeah, like Steve,
like I don't want to fight you because of it,
Like I mean, I don't agree with Hey, Steve, I

(10:42):
don't fully agree with what you're saying, not not all
of it, maybe not even I mean, I don't know
how much of it. I can't say I agree with
any of it, Steve. But it's not. It's not because
I got a problem with you, my guys. Just I
just don't agree with that. I respect your opinion, sir,
that's up your opinion. Bar Yeah, I'm all right. The

(11:05):
topic gate that series to.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
Be what do you also say?

Speaker 5 (11:08):
What are you trying to say if there's any disagreement whatsoever,
Like you're in the booth and he's just he's just
ready to get out.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
Oh he won't get you, man. Yeah, yeah, I think
that the guy did a great job of just well, Steve.
What do you think Steve told his story? Okay, let's
let's move off. Whether it's right or raw, it did matter, man.
Steve was but you know, I guess the reason why
I thought about him immediately was because he's like, you know, quarterback,

(11:34):
the quarterback can't get his feet set, this, that and
the other. And I mean he was giving some really
really good critic you know, critiques of what was taking place.
I mean they were they were collapsing and blowing the
pocket up. I mean they were blowing it up.

Speaker 4 (11:49):
Is up.

Speaker 3 (11:49):
Yeah, they were blowing it up. Man. It was kind
of it was. It was if you if you're a defender,
it's cool to watch because I not only saw them
blowing up, blowing up the pocket. But one thing that
you'll start to see now more and more when you
watch defensive players is their technique. The technique these days

(12:09):
across the board is so like everybody's using it. It's
like you never saw every single person using technique. It's
like this guy's a bull rusher. You know he's going
to get into that that gap and he's just gonna
own that gap. And you know he's pretty strong hands
and stuff like that. But you see everybody. People are swiping,

(12:31):
they're they're they're they're grabbing, you know, pressure points, they're
they're forcing elbows, they're they're breaking, breaking wrists. It's like
it's while watching defensive linemen and watching them operate these days,
it's pretty cool. It's pretty cool, like to watch the
detail of it.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
Yeah, well this worked pretty well against the Carolina certainly
did so. Not not a a pleasant debut for Bryce
Young as they get shut out by the Jets.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
For whatever that's worth.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Arrington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
So, what the hell's happening with Jim Harbaugh? Is he
getting suspended four games? Or is he not getting suspended
four games?

Speaker 5 (13:17):
This is the definition of kicking the can down the road.

Speaker 4 (13:22):
Yeah, So if you want to set it up, go sedator.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
Well, I mean you probably are better at it than me,
to be honest with you, I'm so go right ahead.

Speaker 5 (13:29):
Well, I would simplify this by just saying he initially
had agreed to a four game suspension for what I
guess the NCAA is trying to provide somewhat of an
explanation for this process and saying this wasn't over at cheeseburger,
all right, And I will say this, I feel like
we might be guilty of potentially downplaying what some of

(13:52):
the violations may have been back in twenty twenty, because
that's all the information that we had had at that point,
and the end has basically come out and said, look,
this is much more serious than buying a recruit a cheeseburger.
These violations that were committed off campus recruiting during COVID,
and clearly the NCAA is trying to set up some

(14:13):
sort of guardrails in order to make sure this sort
of thing isn't happening. Now, the problem is he was
given a four game suspension, that was the agreement, and
now they find themselves in a position where it could
be more, it could be less, but we won't know
until twenty twenty four. And I think the only complaint
really out a Harbaugh's camp, which Tom Mahers is acting

(14:35):
as his attorney at this point, is the fact that
the NCAA is pushing out this report and kind of
leaking out that hey, it was more than just a
cheeseburger to basically defend their position and not accepting this
four game suspension for Jim Harbaugh. And meanwhile, Jim Harbaugh

(14:56):
in his camp are not allowed to say anything since
technically this is an od ongoing investigation slash negotiation over
what potential will be the punishment.

Speaker 3 (15:06):
So that now the question becomes why does the n
c a A or how does the n c a
A have the right to put that information out there,
you know, and and basically put their side. Well, again,
they shouldn't be able.

Speaker 4 (15:19):
They shouldn't be able to.

Speaker 3 (15:21):
Yeah, they shouldn't be able to. But I don't think
this is going to to end well. I think the
fact that it's being being held open or being reopened,
or however it's being framed, it's it's got to be worse.
It's they're not gonna I don't feel like they're going
to come back and be like, Okay, it's four game.

(15:42):
This was a little bit too too harsh of a penalty,
Like they're saying this is not over just cheeseburgers, And
like you said, you there there's there's probably was a
downplaying of the the severity of what was taking place.
I mean, if you think about it, it's aily simular
and what it sounds like to what happened at Arizona State.

(16:05):
It all started with talking about something that took place,
buying burgers in and buying food in the food court.
But if there's more to it, and there's more coming out,
I think what makes this of a serious a more
serious situation is the fact that Jim Harball didn't cooperate,
and I think that that that may turn up the

(16:29):
level of intensity of how this is approached because all
he needed to do was cooperate with the investigation. You
get the investigation over with and done, and and then
you move on from it. You accept your penalty, and
you keep it moving. But the fact that he didn't,
he didn't cooperate, and there's seemingly more information that isn't good,

(16:50):
information that that's connected to what's going on and what's
taking place, and it's like, okay, is four games really
is that enough? And then now you start to think like, okay, well,
Arizona State, like as I used as an example, they
were they were, they weren't very good, and so it
led to pressure to probably dismiss the coach. Does this,

(17:11):
does this? Does this? I mean, this is a really
good Michigan team coming into the season. Does this create
a crack a fracture where they could have the type
of season where you had the conversation about Jim Harball
in that manner? No, Yeah, I ain't think so. Yeah,
I mean they're they're go to put it up, put

(17:32):
it out there, though.

Speaker 5 (17:33):
Yeah, I don't see that being the case. So their
schedule sets up well, I mean their toughest game is
really going to be in Happy Valley.

Speaker 4 (17:39):
Yeah, they host Ohio State.

Speaker 5 (17:41):
I mean that would be a tough game too, But
when you're looking at their schedule, it's set up really
well for them to run the table. I think if
you're a Michigan fan, the only thing that you don't
like about this is the potential for it to be
worse after the season. As far as his punishment, and
this year, if you looked at the four game, you
know four games he was going to miss. It was
three non confident Conference opponents, which I will I will

(18:04):
tell this story. So I've been I've been doing a
bunch of charity stuff over the past probably.

Speaker 4 (18:11):
Seventy two hours now.

Speaker 5 (18:12):
So, first was playing in a golf event that helped
support scholarships at a golf club that I belonged to.
Then I was helping out my my sister and my
brother in law's foundation, Hawks Locks. They have an awesome event,
a seventies party that helps with cancer research. So saw
you talk about linebacker, Saw Bobby Carpenter, saw Anthony Schlegel,

(18:34):
saw a bunch of buck Eys who were at that event.

Speaker 3 (18:38):
He's a LB.

Speaker 4 (18:39):
Yes he is.

Speaker 3 (18:40):
He looked like alb.

Speaker 4 (18:41):
Yes he does.

Speaker 5 (18:42):
He And then we I had a beer pong event yesterday,
which that's the that's the one I think LeVar.

Speaker 4 (18:47):
Would like to come to the most.

Speaker 3 (18:48):
I mean, I would enjoy beer pong.

Speaker 5 (18:50):
Yeah, it's a good time. It's a good time. And
then today is the annual golf outing. But I bring
this up because when I was playing in the golf
deal man, this guy we start talking about ECU because
ECU is one of the teams that Michigan plays during
the non conference schedule, and this gentleman happened to play

(19:12):
golfer and he may have had a.

Speaker 4 (19:14):
Few too many drinks. I'll just leave it at that.

Speaker 5 (19:17):
But he's like, man, I'll tell you what. The pirates
are gonna come in there and shock the world. They're
gonna shock the world. They're gonna beat them Wolverines.

Speaker 4 (19:25):
Now, I'm telling you now seen it too many times.

Speaker 5 (19:27):
He's like what He's like, you remember back when Virginia
Tech went in there and beat them boys at Ohio State.
He's like, what happened that next week? I was like,
I honestly, I can't recall. It was like ECU went
and beat them, And so he was He's trying to
convince me that I thirty four and a half point
underdog Jonas checked the math is gonna is gonna beat Michigan,

(19:51):
and then I started to kind of like, I kind
of started to get him going. I was like, you know,
I was like, maybe you're onto something here. You know,
maybe they open book ECU, maybe they're worried about, you know,
potentially some of their teams down the road.

Speaker 4 (20:03):
Jim Harbaugh's not going to be there.

Speaker 5 (20:05):
We started getting into all this, and and then the
news broke about this, about the suspension and how it
basically is gonna be kicked down the road to twenty
twenty four.

Speaker 4 (20:14):
I was thinking to myself, well, if you could have.

Speaker 5 (20:16):
Made the case for why Michigan could you know, stumble
or get off to a bad start or something that basic,
you would have been it right. But now you don't
even have the opportunity to do that. So to my man,
Jim manhos who ain't him.

Speaker 4 (20:31):
It ain't gonna happen, man, I love you. Hey, they
might cover thirty four and a half point, there's a
lot of points they might cover.

Speaker 3 (20:36):
They might cover up to thirty five. I doubt it.
I doubt they'll cover.

Speaker 5 (20:41):
Yeah, it's just by the way, you know, I said, no, go,
I love the fact that you're this passionate about it.
Because he was, He's pout of the table. He's like,
come on, now, come on, now, you see you've coming
in there.

Speaker 4 (20:53):
You shock the world.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
I'm like, all right, well, supporters are supporters though. That's
what's amazing.

Speaker 4 (20:58):
You know, you get that and call it football. You
know they're already stoked about.

Speaker 3 (21:02):
It, and it could happen. I remember when Appalachian Appalachian
State did that to to Michigan, shocked the world. But
who was on that team? I think Dexter Cokeley was
on Appalachian State that year. Now, he couldn't have been.
He's older than that. Yeah, he's older than that.

Speaker 4 (21:19):
After that was a year after I think I left college.

Speaker 3 (21:21):
Yeah, was a money Edwards on that team? Yeah that
might be, but that sounds better. That was a that
was a huge that's a crazy I remember. In fact,
I'm actually super old because I was retired when that
when that happened. Yeah, I remember where I was at
when that happened. I was in Annapolis, Naptown, and I

(21:43):
was I was partying. Yeah, I was still partying too,
Like I think I was half fried, definitely fried. I
was day drinking straight faded. You know exactly where I was?
I was, I forget I want to call it Sharky's.
I think I was at a place calledge Sharkis. That
sounds a good place, Oh I was. It was. It
was like a big ass bar with like multiple different places.

Speaker 5 (22:05):
You told someone, Hey, I'm gonna head the Sharkis. You're
basically saying I'm gonna go tie one on. Yeah, like
I'm gonna Get'm gonna get after it.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
Yes, Now was it a Sharkis or a Baja Sharkyes,
because there's big Baja Sharkis.

Speaker 3 (22:19):
Sharkys is like a but it wasn't like a Sharky's
the one you're saying it. It was just like Sharkis, Well,
Baja Sharkis is like a club slash cantina type place.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
Sharkis, Well, that place was a cantina. The was a
lot of ba Sharkis.

Speaker 5 (22:36):
It was, wasn't it was?

Speaker 2 (22:40):
Can I just say on the Jim Harbaugh stuff, if
you're harbor, why don't you just take the four games
like we made the point East Carolina un LV bowling
Green Rutgers.

Speaker 3 (22:50):
Just get it over with?

Speaker 2 (22:51):
And how how would the NCAA come back afterwards and say,
all right, now we're gonna add on more games. What
did he do and essentially more games? God, what did
he say to them that got them so pissy over?
Oh his horrorball? Come on, you know he Oh he's
got away rubbing you.

Speaker 5 (23:08):
I would love to know what he said, like if
there was a if there was a bottle, whether the
gene inside Jim Harball cannot rub that thing.

Speaker 4 (23:16):
The right way to get kind of wishes.

Speaker 5 (23:18):
I'm just saying, like, if Jim Harball found the bottle,
like the genie would just stand inside that.

Speaker 2 (23:23):
Thing like coming out like they might have and they
might have had an agreement and Harball said, hey, thanks guys,
sorry about all the mess here, and uh, I'll take
you out for a cheeseburger and then hung up and
they said, screw this guy, No, we're not accepted.

Speaker 3 (23:37):
He might have sent them, have sent them some prepackaged
burgers to cook.

Speaker 5 (23:42):
You know what's tough, honestly in this whole scenario is
you come across as a coach, and I know, LeVar,
you can probably speak to this. There are some kids
that are being recruited that that have like dire needs.
I mean for real, like they come from bad backgrounds
or they don't have much, And there are times when
you'll get coaches who are just trying to help the

(24:03):
kid out or just trying you know what I'm saying,
Like there's not I know, people always want to think
that coaches have all this intent and everything they do.
There are some times when a coach is just trying
to do something nice for a young man, or do
something nice for a family that's in.

Speaker 4 (24:18):
Need at that moment.

Speaker 3 (24:18):
It's a great point. It's a great like.

Speaker 4 (24:21):
I mean, I'm sure you've come across the.

Speaker 3 (24:22):
Level all the time. I mean I've had I've had
kids in my home. You know, I take kids in.
I've taken kids in because of how how bad you know,
or or how you know, just difficult that the situation
could be just just to get a meal. So you
see a kid, he's on a visit or whatever. It's like, yeah,
the kid is a high profile kid, but you're like, man,

(24:44):
the kid's hungry, like you know, you gotta get a meal.
Like you know, you're sitting there and it's like, look,
we'd only be here if y'all pay for us to
be here, right, like they're not making it. We're not
making it. We're not making it any other way. Like
you there's stories of hearing of parents that stay in
the dorm rooms. You know, they find a way to

(25:04):
get to where their kid is playing, and they stay
in the dorm rooms with their kids, man, because they
don't have enough money.

Speaker 5 (25:11):
When I first was started going up to Notre Dame,
my buddy, my best man in my wedding, best friend
growing up, his oldest brother was in RTC. We would
all meaning him. He'd sleep up in the bed, his dad,
me and my buddy who was the brother. We'd all
sleep on this dorm room floor.

Speaker 4 (25:32):
Like that's when we would go up to South Bend
when I was in like in junior high.

Speaker 5 (25:35):
We all just crashed in his little, small dorm room
floor in Stanford Hall. And I remember thinking myself like
it was one of the worst nights of sleep you
ever got. And then you're you're going into like the
communal showers and stuff right in the dorm and all that.

Speaker 4 (25:49):
But that was the experience, and like it was to me.

Speaker 3 (25:52):
You didn't know.

Speaker 5 (25:52):
Any different, but that was how like you didn't have
to pay for a hotel for you know game weekend
because it is a three night minimum.

Speaker 4 (25:58):
Like, people don't understand how expensive it is for some
of these families that.

Speaker 5 (26:02):
Have recruits to travel around. It's it's a it's incredibly
expensive because.

Speaker 3 (26:08):
Not if they're not all paid for.

Speaker 5 (26:09):
Some of them are unofficial visits because you can't you
can't see every school now, at least back then. Now
it's a little different, they've changed some of those rules.
But it didn't used to be like that, especially not
back during the COVID year, right.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
I mean, was it a better night's sleep or worse
night sleep than when you were in Bolivia? And that
like coleman T you were sleeping in back in the day.
You told us that story and that people were walking
in and out and you found out where you were
staying was was maybe different than what the expectation was.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
Maybe people were Bolivia, it was like something you were
staying over in some foreigncause it.

Speaker 4 (26:45):
Was down in the Dominican alright, No, we were in
at ten and by.

Speaker 9 (26:50):
The way, like it was no this all right, all right,
all right, First off, I don't know why I think
we originally stayed in a hostel, which I thought that
the conditions were perfectly fine, Like.

Speaker 5 (27:05):
We weren't like room with other people, we all like
shared like the men shared a room, the women shared
in Like it wasn't a bad deal. For whatever reason,
that was not up to the standards of one individual
wife of the trip. Okay, So next thing I know,
we're going to this place that did at least from
the outside, at least on the road, I was like, Oh,
this seems to be nicer.

Speaker 4 (27:26):
Although upon check in, what I wasn't.

Speaker 5 (27:29):
Like keen to was the fact that you got a
lot of different, like sexual things that you normally don't
get a check in.

Speaker 4 (27:37):
I mean, there were all sorts.

Speaker 3 (27:38):
Of Jonas would have been able to guide you through that.
He would have helped you navigate that.

Speaker 5 (27:43):
I'm just saying like, at that point in time my life,
I never went to a hotel where they like gave
you other stuff.

Speaker 4 (27:49):
And then as why.

Speaker 5 (27:50):
I'm going to like We're driving our car dropping off
of each of the different units I'm walking in like
this is not where I want understand.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
Why is the nightstand vibrating?

Speaker 4 (28:01):
I mean there were it was like mirrors everywhere, it was.

Speaker 5 (28:07):
Neon w it was I was just like, oh God,
like this is this was made for certain activity? Is
that a hard there's like ants running through the floor.
I like, I swear to God, I literally took and
I was like, are the towels even clean? And even
the shower The shower was like this weird It had

(28:27):
different like all sorts of different functionality. But I was
looking at it thinking like I don't even want to
like showering.

Speaker 3 (28:33):
Did you have a comforter on your bed?

Speaker 4 (28:35):
Bro? I view, no chance, no chance.

Speaker 5 (28:41):
You know what the hard thing was with the whole
black light is like the only thing you could have
shined on I was the big is. Everything else was mirrors,
like it was made to be like showcase whatever was
happening on that bed. Hey, I remember, I swear to you.
I slept maybe like an hour and a half that night.
There was like two different streams of ants that had
like made a living in there, and.

Speaker 4 (29:03):
I like taking these towels.

Speaker 5 (29:04):
I was like, and they were not the type of
towels that were like you could use as Captain America shield,
if you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
Yeah, I remember you said your boy DUSA would have
been right at home there.

Speaker 4 (29:15):
Huh, Well he might have been using the one next
door for all I know.

Speaker 3 (29:18):
That's his off season home.

Speaker 5 (29:22):
It is one of the units they actually pulled in
to drop someone off, and like people ran out of
and they like went back to the front desk to.

Speaker 4 (29:27):
Get a different unit.

Speaker 3 (29:28):
Oh wow.

Speaker 4 (29:29):
If you can believe that, I'm like, I cannot believe.
We just left that place to go to this place.

Speaker 3 (29:35):
Not for everybody that stuff, you know.

Speaker 1 (29:38):

Speaker 2 (30:27):
We've been talking about a very busy weekend in the NFL.
On the field preseason action everywhere. You had the Baltimore
Ravens continuing their success twenty four straight wins in preseason
action for Baltimore as they took care of Philly. A
lot of storylines, a lot of debuts, a lot of
curiosity to to see how everybody looks a year removed
from the twenty twenty two season, and so one of

(30:49):
those guys was justin fields of the Chicago Bears. Everyone
wanted to see a you know, he's got you know,
some weapons around him, he's got DJ Moore, he's got
all this other fun stuff to work with now. And
his first touchdown pass of the game was a screen
pass to DJ Moore.

Speaker 3 (31:03):
He took it to the house.

Speaker 2 (31:04):
First touches a Bear resulted in a touchdown and then look,
everybody seemed to be happy about the following touchdown, which
involved a play to Khalil Herbert. This courtesy of the
Bears Television network, So Herbert.

Speaker 12 (31:19):
He got it forty five in midfield, first out in
Lord of the forty Angles, thirty twenty sideline lip get
stays on his feet, plunges into the end zone for
the touchdown.

Speaker 6 (31:31):
Touchdown, Bears fifty six yards on a dumpa All right,
Bears radio, not TV, whatever, But point is, whatever win
some games.

Speaker 3 (31:42):
Point is.

Speaker 2 (31:42):
I mean, everybody seemed to be happy about that performance
except for somebody just had to be the kill joy.
Brady had to point out something, didn't you.

Speaker 5 (31:51):
I'm just saying that play when that counted in the
regular season, when they're actually paying attention to an eligible
lineman downfield, So I mean, you tell me, go back
watch the clip.

Speaker 4 (32:02):
There were like four or five yards downfield.

Speaker 5 (32:04):
How they missed that in the preseason is shocking considering
usually they try to throw more flags when possible, but
in this case, maybe there was some hometown cooking there
in Chicago.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
I mean, look, they wanted to make everybody feel good
about Justin Field's debut. The DJ Moore pat like, I
don't know how you walk away from that game and go,
oh man, I've seen what I wanted to see out
of Justin Fields. It was just two catch and run touchdowns.
He didn't really play all that much and that was it.
So it just seems like there's more to be seen
out of him and just what this offense is really

(32:40):
going to look like. Because early on Tennessee was marching
right down the field on the defense, that's for sure.

Speaker 5 (32:45):
So well, it wasn't with the starters either, which is
a bit concerning. I guess if you're a you know,
a fan of the Bears, that's all I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (32:54):
Yeah, I mean I'm not, but I know that that
would dub Bears. There are a lot of fans of
the Bears.

Speaker 4 (32:59):
That no Bears. It's the Bears are good. You know.

Speaker 3 (33:04):
I saw some big ass Bears outside my house. Big
ass there. They rolled there. It's a it's a group
of them. I didn't know that there was a group
of them. There was just one.

Speaker 4 (33:16):
Smokey's got a lot of friends.

Speaker 3 (33:17):
Man hey, look here, man, they was. They was out
that bad boy. They tore up the trash cans and
then just went to sleep right in the middle of
the of the of the of the street. They're eating good,
huh eat real good. Yeah, they eat real good where
we at, I'm telling you, I know, especially but I
cooked so much this past weekend, I did some shots

(33:38):
out to my people's at Trigger. You know, they're supports
of the show. Supporters of the show.

Speaker 4 (33:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (33:45):
I did some some cooking for some content for trade.
There's meat out there for him, I'll tell you that.

Speaker 4 (33:51):
Where do you draw the line with the bears? Like
are you okay with him?

Speaker 5 (33:54):
Like sorting through the trash, eating, eating the food out
of the trash? Like is it when they take a
dump in your front of your We're like, okay.

Speaker 3 (34:01):
You know they did.

Speaker 4 (34:01):
I was okay with you eating, just not taking it
away game of my hend.

Speaker 3 (34:04):
They took a dump right in front of the entry
of my driveway, so I couldn't I couldn't ignore it.

Speaker 4 (34:10):
How big is it huge?

Speaker 3 (34:12):
It is horrible looking. It's really big. It's a really,
really really big pile, and it is really really gross.

Speaker 4 (34:23):
Did you move it?

Speaker 3 (34:26):
I am guilty. I did not touch that, man. I
drove over it and try it not. Yes, I did.
I didn't drive over it with my with my tires.
I drove over top of it, as in like it's
straddled in between my tires. I didn't touch it. I
just drove over it. I just figured that we have

(34:48):
street we have a street cleaner, and I'm like in
my mind, I'm like, the street cleaner is gonna come
and they're going to clean this this off like they're
going and they did not.

Speaker 4 (34:59):
It's on your driveway, that's not on the street.

Speaker 3 (35:01):
It was on the street. It wasn't on the driveway.
It was like right out there, That's how it was. Yes,
it was.

Speaker 4 (35:07):
Was it the size of a football helmet?

Speaker 3 (35:10):
It was big, bro like like, if my memory serves
me correctly, part of it was like you know, turts
and the rest of it was like mush, but like
both parts were equally Yeah, yeah, that's that's the problem.
They both parts were equally really really large.

Speaker 2 (35:32):
You can't chase a coyote with a glass of milk,
Like that's just not the way to go. And so
I think that's what led to the issues.

Speaker 3 (35:40):
That you had there in your driveway. Is that what
it sounds like?

Speaker 5 (35:43):
Just get a little bear as Yeah.

Speaker 3 (35:49):
I have heard though.

Speaker 4 (35:52):
Related to that.

Speaker 3 (35:52):
Yeah, like now it all makes sense.

Speaker 4 (35:55):
That's why you both have all black underwear, you.

Speaker 3 (35:57):
Go, they did have black. They wore black beer.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
Oh yeah, you won't see them pairing white BBDs.

Speaker 3 (36:06):
I think I think the white jeans. No nothing. I
think the one that rolls by itself is a black beer.
I think the two that role as a group are
bra waiting for that. I mean, you know they're they're
in the black brown community. You know, That's what I mean,
that's what they are.

Speaker 4 (36:23):
I'm sorry you round bears are like much bigger.

Speaker 3 (36:26):
They were and they are much bigger. Yes, the black
bear looks like like a dog.

Speaker 4 (36:31):
You got like bears pray or something.

Speaker 3 (36:33):
No, we ant got to do nothing. Man, We're on
a we're on a mountain, like there are there are friends.
We're in their teartor until they're not. Well, that's very true.
You know, it's crazy. So when I came home last night,
I made I made a quick little run out outside.
When I got back, my censor light was on. It
was on, like where because my my my garages are

(36:57):
on on the back end of my house. I got
to drive into the driveway, make a turn, and then
make another turn. And there's a blind spot. There's a
blind that's a long ass driveway. There's a blind spot
when you make that last turn to go pull into
the garages. But we don't pull into the garage. We
just park in front of the front door. How many
garages you got? It's two. Let's see, it's not bad

(37:21):
at all, right, two garage doors, that's not. That's not.
I mean one is a really really big garage, like
you fit two cars and it's not. Damn, that's not.

Speaker 4 (37:31):
So you're saying three car garage but only two doors.
What you're saying you.

Speaker 3 (37:35):
Can fit three cars in that that garage, that's not.

Speaker 4 (37:39):
I mean, that's a three car garage. That's if you're
selling your house.

Speaker 3 (37:42):
That's how you describe three cars. Yeah, two door, Well
but it is two doors, but it's just one.

Speaker 5 (37:48):
But you were you were trying to not like be like, oh,
it's a three car garage.

Speaker 3 (37:51):
Yeah it is, it holds three. The point of the
story was, that's wrong with that. I find myself being
a tad bit nervous, Like I've already come face to
face with him, like once twice, twice I came face
to face with him, and the one time I was out,
I'm at my door in my car, and I didn't

(38:13):
see him because he was laying down apparently, and then
he stood back up once once he hurt me, and
then he started messing with the trash again. Like he's like,
oh this dude, then woke me up. Let me get
back into this trash. I was like, hey, get out here.

Speaker 2 (38:28):
Well he knows you don't finish your food anymore, so
there's gonna be fine.

Speaker 3 (38:32):
Yeah. Well so it's interesting. They take the whole entire
bag out of the trash can. They knocked the trash
can down. Then they take the bag and they go
somewhere where they want to go, and then they sit
like they'll sit like you'll see trash bags randomly on
the street, and we got it likes as neighbors, we

(38:52):
got like people be trying to figure out is that
your trash bag or is that my trash bag? Oh,
that's a black trash bag, that's your trash bag. That's
a white trash bag, that's my trash bag. Like you know,
we we we know our trash bag colors. Thank you.
What does color matter in the trend because you can
identify whose home it's coming from. You know what color
are yours? White and black? I like to mix them.

(39:19):
I try not to discriminate on what color bag I
put into my trash Every once in a while, I
switch up. Well, you know what stupid.

Speaker 4 (39:33):
What is wrong with you?

Speaker 3 (39:35):
I'm talking about trash bags and bears.

Speaker 2 (39:38):
I think I might know why the bears are attracted yet.
Why Because you use Irish spring. Fresh cent of Irish

Speaker 3 (39:52):
They got to have some serious bellies to be doing
the stuff they be doing with them trashes. By the way, bears, oh,
their their digestive system has got to be there. Their
bellied lining has got to be like irons.

Speaker 4 (40:04):
You didn't touch it, like you didn't pick it up.

Speaker 2 (40:07):
I heard that if you eat bear it's sweet because
of all the blueberries they eat.

Speaker 3 (40:12):
It's like, I mean, who do you hear that from?
Eat beer?

Speaker 4 (40:15):
Is that you heard? I mean, what what Davy Crockett
told you? That? Did you hear that from?

Speaker 2 (40:19):
I got sources? Don't worry about it, all right? You
know big bear guy here? All right? All right, so
we've got another edition of you know you're out coming
up here shortly, but for all the latest from around
the world of sports.

Speaker 3 (40:30):
He's our grizzly sweet berries. Damn he's Edmond Garcia. Oh damn, I.

Speaker 2 (40:38):
Saw that one coming so far away.

Speaker 3 (40:43):
A grizzly bear Edie. Oh man, Yeah, why is that Eddie?

Speaker 4 (40:48):
Yeah? Why is that Eddie?

Speaker 3 (40:51):
Are you grizzly Eddie? Oh no, Jonas? Maybe Jonas you
the big Beer. Yeah, that's definitely true, Big Bear, Big Beer.
We got some news from the NFL. Grande also juz

Speaker 4 (41:10):
Also so, oh, okay, I don't think Jones is actually.

Speaker 3 (41:15):
Got that right.

Speaker 2 (41:16):
That's one of my ten words I vanish. That's the
only one that's clean that I could say on the air.

Speaker 4 (41:21):
Uh, mucho mucho Grande.

Speaker 3 (41:23):
Also, yeah, that that I now that that.

Speaker 4 (41:31):
Sereal serial.

Speaker 3 (41:35):
No, I didn't know that. Definitely not. No, We're kind
it in the break, Okay, all right.

Speaker 13 (41:40):
News from the NFL where Annample Scots All Pro running
back Jonathan Taylor, who's at odds with the team over
his contract situation, will reportedly return to training camp this
week after missing all team activities so far. We had
a couple of preseason games. On Sunday, Saints beat the
Chiefs twenty six to twenty four. New New Orleans quarterback
Derek Carr was six of eight passing seventy yards of
touchdown no interceptions. Can City quarterback Patrick Mahomes one series,

(42:01):
two for two passing fifteen yards, no touchdowns, donorceptions. Raiders
roll over the forty nine ers thirty four to seven.

Speaker 3 (42:07):
No.

Speaker 13 (42:07):
Jimmy Garoppolo at quarterback for Vegas against his old team
Noprock party for San Francisco. Tree Lance did play in
this when the first half ten to fifteen, passing one
hundred and twelve yards with a touchdown no interceptions. The
back to LeVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knoxson, tire Rack

Oh yeah, group Okay.

Speaker 2 (43:14):
I don't know why they call him groupie on the call.
Well whatever, we'll be a h I'll leave that alone.
But the point is he sent on Twitter. One, get
questioned walking into the field pregame for not having credentials.
Step two, hit a game winner. Step three, get stopped
by security thinking I was a fan when trying to
walk out, the player exits, stay humble, thankful, great team win.

Speaker 3 (43:36):
How's that happen? Well, you're not staying humbled by.

Speaker 5 (43:38):
Saying oh, that is not the first time I told Joe.
When we were walking across for our spring game, we
had a specialist, same thing, like security guards.

Speaker 4 (43:48):
This was in college. They grabbed him like, hey, kid,
get out from under it.

Speaker 5 (43:52):
I mean, and obviously it's like all players walking over
that cool, but they thought some random kids snuck in
with the rest of the team and they literally grabbed
him for hands on him and pulled him out.

Speaker 3 (44:02):
The fact that he won the game a guy stopped
doing his way out is kind of that's that's bad,
you know.

Speaker 5 (44:07):
It's like, I mean, they're not obviously focused on the game,
and especially like specialists, like they don't know.

Speaker 3 (44:12):
Those guys just got to get more jacked. I would
never have that problem. I'd just be walking around like, look,
I'm the kicker. I'm the kicker.

Speaker 5 (44:21):
You might as well just keep your uniform on and
walk out, you know it, just don't even take it off.

Speaker 4 (44:26):
See way, why don't you shower at the in the
locker room. It's like, well, I want people to know
I'm actually on.

Speaker 3 (44:30):
The team, So I get a big gold chain kicker.
That's how it's done. Big big old rope, big gold plate,
it dip kicker with diamonds in it.

Speaker 5 (44:43):
So you think when people see you, they're gonna be like, oh,
of course that guy's the kicker.

Trying to get younger and cheaper man.

Speaker 3 (44:58):

a lot of that down there, though, Yes, you do. Yes,
and and and let me tell you something. Where do
they find their talent? I mean, because they all seem
to be like hitting, like very good sir. Okay, very

(45:32):
very good sir.

Speaker 5 (45:33):
Okay, down in certain areas you you really just need
to have and this is really important, you just need
to have two working eyes and then you'll be able
to figure it out.

Speaker 3 (45:41):
Yeah, working eyes, two working outs.

Speaker 5 (45:45):
Eyes that aren't blind or you're not near sighted or
far sighted. Just having twenty twenty vision really helps. Jonas
kind of tested this.

Speaker 3 (45:54):
I thought there was something connected to having working eyes
open and not closed.

Speaker 4 (45:58):

place to be. Well, there you go.
