I don't know if you guys were aware of this,
but Iowa's got a little bit of a gambling problem
the state of Iowa.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
What makes you say that?
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Yeah, just you know Iowa, Iowa State players betting on
the Syhawk Bowl, yea better and other stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
I mean it's just Iowa though, right, there's not like
a bigger problemise.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
There, No, no, I mean you know. Well, according to
Kirk Farrence, the head coach of Iowa, he mentioned yesterday
and talking with the media locally there in Iowa about
just sort of how he found things a little bit
interesting in reference to the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigations
the DCI, and just how they've looked into the scandals
(01:53):
involving gambling with current players former players at Iowa and
Iowa State, and he had this to say in regards
to all of it.
Speaker 5 (02:01):
I mentioned the DCI level. That's curious to me only
in that I mean, I've had a lot of time
to think about it. Now, there's forty United States by
my account, that play football, have college universities that play football.
I think it's interesting that we're the only state I'm
aware of, and I think it's interesting to more than
two colleges in our our state. So that's kind of
(02:22):
interesting how that all came about, not excuse anybots involved.
And then also I assume they've you know, maybe had
charges against non athletes as well. I don't know that
point there is. I don't know a lot of things
right now, and we'll deal with what we do know
when it's presented to us.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
So Kirk Yarns doesn't know a lot, but he just
find it interesting.
Speaker 6 (02:42):
Well, look, that's just one way that people speak to
kind of make it a thought provoking comment for others. Right,
Like he's basically saying, why aren't like why are you
in the media ask you this question, which it's a
fair thing to say in all honesty. Is this just
specific to Iowa? Is the state of Iowa? And they're like,
(03:05):
what rules of gaming commission? Are they the only ones
who are that I guess, you know, clamping down on
then this sort of activity that no other state is
willing to do so, or it's just you know, the
Iowa student athletes.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
I mean, he brought up the point about it. It's
it only student athletes.
Speaker 6 (03:23):
Well, unless there's underage you know, betting and they're doing
it through their parents.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
I'm not really sure what he was pointing to.
Speaker 6 (03:29):
You know, maybe he's like, is he thorn as managers
or trainers up to the bus because they have insider knowledge.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
I'm just a bit curious as to what that comment
had to do with anything else.
Speaker 6 (03:39):
But no, it's it's a it's a fair, you know
statement to make and bring up that if it's going
on in Iowa, it's probably going on elsewhere.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
Yes, more, I mean more, there's probably other places where
it's going on more.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
But but also but Kirk Farents has to understand how
this works. Whoever's the first one, they're gonna get all
the heat. They're gonna like, they're gonna they want to
set a precedent that you can't do this. And so
this is almost a warning shot to everybody else around
college football that hey, we do look into this and
(04:18):
you will get caught. Look what's happening to Iowa. They're
the example that's being set right now. So for Kirk
Farents to come out and go, well, you know, I
find it a little bit curious. Of course, we'll just
say it, Like, what other programs out there do you
think have gambling issues? Just I mean, just say it.
But to come off that way and just to point
fingers and say, well, it's interesting that we're the only
(04:39):
state that's getting investigated when it comes to this, Like,
come on, dude, you know how this works. You are
the first one to get popped for it, and so
they're gonna lay the hammer on you. That's how this works.
So I just I find it a little bit funny
that Kirk Farance has taken this direction.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
But what direction?
Speaker 6 (04:54):
I mean, he look, he might be acknowledging the fact
that you know, since they are the first, he's gonna
get popped for it. But I think the problem is
is everyone seems to make it and we've done this,
like we are guilty of this on the show, making
it seem like it's purely an Iowa thing. Now, granted,
that's because Iowa Sam usually is on the boards.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
And he's very offensive and protective when you know it comes.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
So it has a little bit to do with that.
But it's a fair point.
Speaker 6 (05:26):
I mean, if it's going on elsewhere, why isn't this
bringing being brought up anywhere else? It seems like it
obviously is in the NFL. It's it's doesn't seem like
it is in college outside of Iowa Iowa State, or
maybe they're not bringing up as big of a deal
about it.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
I think the hard thing is for a.
Speaker 6 (05:42):
Lot of like the Hawkeye fans or Iowa fans, where
it's Iowa State or Iowa in some of these cases,
like you've got guys who are betting against their team
and they're playing in the game, or or they're laying
bets where they could ultimately manipulate the outcome. I mean
Arlen Bruce one, who is the wide receiver for Iowa.
(06:02):
That's the most damning. And then it makes you go
back and comb through every catch, everything he did to
see I mean, I was talking about this with a
buddy of the weekend. You know, there's you know, he
had bet the under in a game where he scored
the touchdown to hit the over, and someone had said,
didn't seem too thrilled after that touchdown. It was kind
(06:23):
of a you know, a whole hum touchdown celebration. There's
another example of him catching a ball to get past
the six on third and two and he stumbles in
the open field. I mean, if he keeps his feet,
he's in the end zone for a touchdown. But he
stumbles in the open field, and so it makes you
want to say, Okay, did he lay a bet on
(06:43):
that game? Did he have the under in that game too?
And he was trying to and by the way, I
think two plays later Iowa turned over the football and
there was a time when there was a botch punt.
I mean, there's all sorts of ways you could potentially
manipulate the game, and I just I feel like Kirk
Ferens has to understand he's got to get a grip
(07:05):
on that at Iowa. I mean, I don't care if
it's going on other places. You can't worry so much
about other places. You just need to worry about what's
in house unless he knows something we don't and they're
being targeted for some reason, which Matt Campbell, which should
feel the same way then and asking his you know,
those same questions. You got to clean up some in
house stuff going on right now.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
Do you guys think that we would ever hear if
this was more rampant in college football, because I don't
I think they would figure out a way to handle
it and it would never get out because if it
turns out that it's more than just Iowa Iowa State,
but it's also other programs around college football. Now everybody's
going to be second guessing what the hell they're watching
every week?
Speaker 6 (07:46):
Can I ask you guys a question, And I'm going
to first direct it to LeVar, because LeVar, like, when
you played and especially in college, did you pay attention
to lines and spreads and all that stuff?
Speaker 3 (07:56):
No?
Speaker 6 (07:58):
I didn't either, Like I didn't grow up in a
house where there's any betting. Like I remember at some
point whether my freshman sophomore year, a senior made I
think I was a freshman because a senior made a
comment to me and I'm like, what do you mean.
He's like, you don't look in the paper to see
what the spread is? I said, No, I said, I'd
never really, I don't even understand what.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
That stuff means.
Speaker 6 (08:19):
And Jonas, you're gonna test to this, Like if anyone's
taught me anything about betting, jon You've probably the person
I had credit the most.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
It's a wonderful world.
Speaker 6 (08:27):
Well that may be the case, but like what's crazy
to me is is there's that that many kids now
who are into.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
It like I was. I was just so ignorant to it,
and maybe I was one of the few.
Speaker 6 (08:39):
Maybe it's more rampant than I thought, Like did you
have a bunch of guys LeVar in your locker room
that like knew that all that stuff was going on.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
I never paid, That was never that was never a
part of my conversations, so I wouldn't he I would
be totally oblivious to that. Like they're you know, like
there's just certain things you just you'reblivious to, like what
guys are into. Certain guys are into certain things like
I'm not hearing about. I could tell by the way
(09:08):
Jansen smelled when he came into the locker room every
once in a while that him and Corey Raymer had
just come from from hunting to go straight to meetings
and didn't have time to shower.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
Well, this smelled it off.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
Whatever that spray is they used that that attracts.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
Deers or whatever. Horrible smell.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
But I mean outside of eventually asking it, like hey.
Speaker 3 (09:34):
John, why do you smell like that? Dog?
Speaker 1 (09:36):
Like like, oh, I just came in and just came
in from you know, they they like to if I
recall correctly, they liked to bow and arrow, you know, hunt,
so that was that was their thing. I just you know,
I was focused on what I was focused on. I
never heard about anything, Like I don't know, like I
(09:57):
kind of like sitting there thinking like why was I
so oblivious?
Speaker 3 (10:00):
But yeah, I.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
Don't don't recall hearing about gambling other than when we
were gambling, right, like we sit down, we throw bones,
or we played tonk. Talk was my that was like
the one that was big for our team. Like you know,
some guys played like you said, bou ray and boo
stuff like that, but you know, yeah, yeah, tonk was
(10:22):
was was the game we like cause it was quick,
you know what I mean, Like you get in, you
get out, like you could play tonk anywhere. So I
mean me and me and Chimp used to sit on
the planes and play tonk. Like we'd be right there,
that was our seats, our row. We'd be playing tonk
like that was it? Like that was the extent of gambling.
Is you bring a couple thousand dollars, boom, you sit there,
(10:45):
you play tonk? Done like that was it? Not not
sports betting, not sports gambling. The only thing I had
ever heard about that was on blue Chips back then.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
You know that's right by the way, blue chips now
looking back pretty so accurate, so accurate.
Speaker 6 (11:01):
He's off like, I can't tell you how many college
coaches offered me a tractor, you know, for my family
being from Ohio.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
You were Ricky Rowe.
Speaker 6 (11:10):
They pulled up and there was like a John Deere tractor.
I was like, man, I live in a suburb, bro, Like,
you don't need to bring all that, Like we're not
We're not, you know, plowing any fields or anything. Well,
you couldn't use an extra tractor. Like, no, dude, I'm
in a neighborhood. My neighbor's looking at you right now.
You can go ahead and tow that thing back out
of here.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
Give me a John Deeer. What am I gonna do
with that?
Speaker 1 (11:33):
What about the for you got to go to a
school I really did.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
I mean, I'll be honest with you, LeVar.
Speaker 6 (11:41):
You know, the the the middle class of Erica, white
guy was not really.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
Okay a lot of that going on.
Speaker 6 (11:48):
There was there was a there was there was I'm
not gonna say what programs, but there was one where
I went on a visit where they tried to like
kind of do some stuff up. I will say this
was at SEC school, and I was like, all right,
like that I was. I mean, look, I was a
very sheltered kid when I was young and all that.
My mom had taken us down on a trip. So
(12:10):
it was an SEC school and they were they were,
you know, they're trying to take me and one of
my teammates I brought with me out for a good time.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
And I was just like, yeah, I'm not really into this.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
Those Florida Gators, man, they're all the same. Ah stop
unbelievable stuff.
Speaker 3 (12:24):
I'm knocking out who it was. But it was. It
was an SEC school, and I was like, all right,
that's how they do it down here, all right.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
Damn Tennessee volunteers. So how could they do that to you?
Just what I mean, don't don't give the name of it,
just the city they're located in.
Speaker 3 (12:37):
Man.
Speaker 6 (12:37):
When I visited Tennessee, I'll never forget. We had an
academic visit and my mom was obviously like hard on them, like, hey, like,
you know, what's your academic rankings?
Speaker 3 (12:48):
You know what a study hall looked like?
Speaker 6 (12:49):
What does this look like the guy couldn't tell us
where their business school was ranked.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
And she almost got up out of the room.
Speaker 6 (12:56):
And she was in there with another mom justin Valentine
as a running back and of going to Minnesota, and
she was like his mom was like, oh, hell no,
She's like, You're not going to waste our time having
us come here and not be able to tell us
this and that. Like it was like basically at that time,
that was like Phillip fullmer time. It was just football
U you know, like they really weren't paying attention to
(13:18):
class or anything else. But that was I had a
wide receiver when we were there because we did like
a little senior like one day camp thing, and I
was really trying to get him exposure and he ended
up breaking his wrist compound fracture.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
It was one of the most gruesome things.
Speaker 6 (13:33):
Like when I like he was doing out and up
and when he planned for the out, he put his
he put his hand down and he broke snap both
bones in his wrist, and I literally like you could
hear it from where I dropped back from across the field.
Our head coach, our quarterback coach ran over. We're pretty
sure he might have crapped himself because it was like
(13:54):
so painful.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
But they put that thing.
Speaker 6 (13:56):
In an air cast and we were in there the
university hospital all night as they try to reset and everything.
And we had to drive back all through the night
to Columbus because I was flying out to Colorado to
visit CU the next morning. It was just a crazy
set of circumstances. But I've never seen a break like
that in person. And then and then actually the receiver
(14:17):
lost like the use of to of his fingers because
the way it ended up, like messing up his wrist.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
And all that.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
Oh my god. Well, hey listen, that's the way.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
But there's no gambling.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
Yeah, but I mean, that's what happens when you go
on those trips, you go to the SEC, you discover
certain things. And speaking of which, at the end of
your first year, discover credit cards automatically double all the
cash bag you burned. That's right, everything you've earned doubled. Seriously,
see terms and check it out for yourself at discover
dot com. Forward slash Match. All right, so coming up
next year on two pros and a Cup of Joe.
One team in the NFL got some good news got
(14:51):
some really good news. A future Hall of Famer is back.
We'll tell you who that is next.
Speaker 4 (14:57):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 7 (15:12):
Oh yeah, and yep, take rings all, take runs all
type chin's all.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
Geez good 'em good lem good'm Two Pros and a
Cup of Joe. Fox Sports Radio, LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn,
Jonas Knox with you here coming up in we'll call
it a little over twenty minutes from now from the
tire rack dot Com Studios, we are gonna have another
edition of would You Rather Here? A Tuesday tradition on FSR.
(15:45):
But how about the Dallas Cowboys getting a little bit
of good news. The Golden Domer, the soon to be
or not soon to be but when he's retired five
years after that Hall of Famers, Zach Martin, they have
agreed to a reworked deal that will pay him over
eighteen million dollars the next two years. That's up a
few million from where he was. But Apparently everything is good.
(16:06):
There was talks of fines. He was going to get
popped fifty thousand dollars a day for every day he missed.
He had ran his bill up to like over six
hundred thousand dollars. Apparently all is good now. Zach Martin's
on his way to Oxnar to be a part of
the Cowboys training camp, and the Cowboys get back a
future Hall of Famer.
Speaker 3 (16:25):
Yeah, I mean he's Dallas.
Speaker 6 (16:26):
Yeah, it's good news for Dallas. It's a player now
who's compensated. I believe his average annual value is up
at the top of the market. Get some guarantees in
there too. I mean, look, Zach Martin's getting up there
in age, and I think it's just it's nice at
the end of your career, especially with the organization you've
built with the entire time to help solidify, you know,
your stability. And he's been arguably their best player, most
(16:49):
consistent player on offense since he's been there, so you
kind of.
Speaker 3 (16:53):
Laid out the accolades.
Speaker 6 (16:55):
I just think this is one of those things that
I'm sure someone whether it was Jerry Jones or Steven
Jones or maybe Mike McCarthy when they had a conversation
about not having Zach there. It's not worth it for
that to continue to maybe not only be a distraction,
but not to be without one of the most consistent players.
(17:16):
And they've got the cash to do so, so why not,
you know, satisfy him. You've already done it for a
guy Zeke Elliott, and you set that precedent, so it's
it's already opened the doors for this sort of thing.
But he's a guy that again has proven it over
the course of his career and going into a year
where you've got a new OC, it's a big year.
I think for Dak too, improving he can be the
(17:37):
guy they think he's going to be. You don't want
any distractions. You know, you're one of your best players
out there playing for you. So good for the Cowboys
for getting this done. But if they're upset about having
to redo it, you know, they they kind of made
that bed. Now they have to lay in it.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
Man.
Speaker 1 (17:54):
You know, it's interesting. It's like we had a conversation
or the running backs topic, and it's like, what other
recourse do the running backs have? But when you have
that conversation about someone like an anchor lineman. It's like
whether the recourse does the team have, Like, what are
(18:14):
you going to do go into the season without Zach?
It doesn't make sense, it doesn't sound right because you're
not going to be able to bring someone in that
does what that man's skill set allows for him to
be able to do. So this is just one of
those clear examples of seeing where the value of players
and positions where they lie. And he's one of those
(18:37):
guys that is going to be the catalyst of what
they're able to do on offense. If you don't have
him on your offensive line, it I mean, how much
of a downgrade is that?
Speaker 3 (18:51):
Right?
Speaker 1 (18:51):
Like who's the next man up that's going to be
able to step in and have an impact? And how
much of an impact is that? So you have a
future Hall of Famer in in Zach Martin, you have
a leader in Zach Mark Martin, and you have a
guy that can block for the run and can block
(19:13):
versus the pass. So there's the value and there's the
market is speaking right. The market says, all right, this.
You know, he might not have got exactly what he wanted,
but it certainly was enough to get him off of
his couch and back into ox Gnart for the rest
of the training camp. So well, and congratulations, And think
about this point.
Speaker 6 (19:34):
Just look at their division, right, because if you look
at roster building in the NFL, you always stack up
to match up, right, that's the whole point. You're trying
to stack up your roster to match up with what
you're gonna see twice a year. Look at the interior
defensive players for the Giants, Commanders, and Jets. Okay, you've
(19:55):
got Dexter Lawrence, right, who's the nose for the Giants?
Speaker 3 (19:59):
A Sean Robinson, which was he a former first round pick?
Speaker 2 (20:02):
I think so.
Speaker 6 (20:05):
Either way out of Alabama, really really good player. Leonard
Williams now granted more of a d N spot, but
there's times when those dns will slide down inside off
the match up.
Speaker 3 (20:15):
He's a beast, former first round pick. That's just the Giants. Okay.
Now let's go to the Washington Commanders.
Speaker 6 (20:21):
Every single guy across their defensive front is a first
round pick. Deron Payne, Jonathan Allen, both those guys really
really good players. Now let's go to the Eagles. Has
anyone looked at their depth chart as far as their
tier defensive live them. Oh yeah, all first round picks.
In fact, they're so deep. It's not only Fletcher Cox
and Jordan Davis are first round picks, but also Jalen
(20:42):
Carter we talked about this year, was a first round pick.
So I think the general consensus is to Lvar's point,
and it's a great point. If you're going to be
able to compete and win this season, you better have
your former first round pick and per reneal pro bowler
in there to help protect Dak, to help Deuce Vaughan
(21:04):
or Tony whoever you want to talk about in the backfield,
help them run against what has now become I think
kind of flown under the radar. Like most teams everyone
talks about drafting edge players, these d tackles too, are
flying off the board as well.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
And a lot of these teams that are having success.
Speaker 6 (21:21):
If you look at the Giants and obviously the Eagles
last year as well as the Cowboys, like they're all
focusing too on the interior their defensive front, and so
you have to counter that offensively with who you're stacking
your offensive line with.
Speaker 2 (21:33):
Ashawn Robinson was a second round pick in second Still,
like when it comes to then how.
Speaker 3 (21:40):
About way, how many of those guys are Alabama players.
Speaker 6 (21:42):
It's great, I mean between Alabama and Georgia, right because
you've got Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis who talked about Shawn
Robinson obviously it was an Alabama player, Deron Payne, Jonathan Allen,
all Alabama players.
Speaker 3 (21:53):
It's kind of ridiculous. How do you think about it?
Speaker 2 (21:56):
That's what they do, stack up defensive lineman and then
get by the way, we are going to get to
the ap top twenty five at some point. Always a
fun discussion coming up later on. But when it comes
to the Cowboys, I don't like Jerry Jones was trying
to throw out there, well, we haven't paid Zach Martin,
and you know we're not going to pay him because
(22:17):
you know, there's expensive fines that come across or come
you know, with him not showing up the training camp.
And then he also pointed out, you know, we've got
to be able to pay Micah Parsons next year. But
it's kind of like what you were saying. They don't
really have a choice because everybody's put the pressure on
in the division. They're in a spot where they've got
it like Kellen Wore's gone. You don't really have a
(22:39):
fall guy anymore. Zeke's gone. So this really is feels
like an now, we're never position for the Dallas Cowboys,
and so I don't know what if Jerry Jones was
just posturing, but it felt like the conclusion to this
was always going to be They're going to figure out
a way to bring Zach Martin back because you had
to bring him back for this year, if you were
(22:59):
going to make it one last honest run at this
before you start having to pay all these other guys.
It felt like Zach Martin had to come back.
Speaker 3 (23:05):
Don't you believe Dreiy Jones is always posturing? Yes, I
just feel he's always posturing.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
And he always seems to lose a lot of these negotiations.
Does he well, Dak Zeke?
Speaker 3 (23:17):
Does he lose?
Speaker 2 (23:18):
Zach Martin got paid?
Speaker 3 (23:19):
Well?
Speaker 2 (23:19):
I mean not really.
Speaker 1 (23:20):
If they're valued at nine billion dollars, I don't feel
like he's nine point two billion.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
I think he's okay, Yeah, yeah, all.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
Right, it's a magic trick. Don't appear in a conference
championship game since the mid nineties and your team's worth
nine point two billion dollars.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
Well, there you go.
Speaker 2 (23:35):
It's unbelievable.
Speaker 6 (23:37):
Well, I mean that's the definition and a lot of
people will probably upset with me saying this, but like
that's the definition of of what the NFL is.
Speaker 3 (23:47):
It's a business.
Speaker 6 (23:48):
Like like some of these owners are so good they
don't have to win football games at the business side
of things in order to be as valued as the
Cowboys are, for example.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
Is what it is, man, Yeah, it is what it is.
He ain't losing, though.
Speaker 2 (24:03):
Would you guys have liked to play for Jerry Jones?
Speaker 3 (24:06):
I would have? Hell yeah.
Speaker 6 (24:08):
I Mean, first off, the Dallas Cowboys are one of
those organizations that are like a I mean, honestly, it's
kind of like playing for Notre Dame. Like you you've
got you were that star on your helmet, Like everyone's
going to know it nationally. And it's such a big
deal down in Texas. I mean, it's just it's huge.
I mean, Dak Prescott, any other market probably isn't as
(24:30):
big of a figure.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
And that's just that's just the reality.
Speaker 6 (24:34):
Yeah, I mean, when you're you're in the Dallas Cowboys
starting quarterback, it's.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
A it's a huge deal.
Speaker 6 (24:40):
I mean even if you don't have the accolades that
necessarily come along with it, like it's it's.
Speaker 3 (24:44):
Still a big deal.
Speaker 6 (24:46):
I mean, think about how Tony Romo was viewed and
he was a really good player, but it wasn't Trey Aigman,
but he was still, you know, viewed as as one
of the top guys in the league at that point
in time.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
And look at all those guys that have gotten broadcasting game.
Speaker 1 (24:59):
I was about to say, that's that's what I was
about to point to, not just but not just the broadcasting,
look at all of the opportunities that former Cowboys and
current Cowboys are able to to have just based off
of being associated with Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys.
I mean, one thing I know for certain, I've talked
(25:19):
to guys that have played for Jerry Jones. I mean
they love them like Jerry Jones. Really, they say, Jerry
Jones really goes out of his way to if a
guy wants to do something, he goes out of his
way to make sure that he helps them to have
the resources to be able to do it. And that's
(25:40):
not saying money wise all the time. That's like you
connect this guy with he's a connector. He's a doc connector.
So you know that's you don't You don't have that
a lot, you know what I mean, you don't have
You don't have an owner that would actually go out
of his way and be like, oh, you want to
open a restaurant? All right, here's who you should talk to.
This is where you should be thinking and not adot
(26:00):
boom boom boom. You want to go into real estate?
Speaker 3 (26:02):
Okay? Oh you want to go into TV? Oh? Great?
Speaker 1 (26:04):
Like and he don't miss right, he don't miss moose, Troy.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
Romo, even Jason Witten got a gig right away.
Speaker 1 (26:16):
I mean, bro Emmitt Smith got an opportunity. Mike Irvin.
I mean, there's there's a countless amount of guys that
you could point to and be like, man like they
they benefit from being Dallas cowboys.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
By the way, what happened to Michael Irvin? Have we
gotten any clarity as to what the hell happened with me?
Speaker 1 (26:32):
What is the I mean, I get the suit got
dismissed correct against.
Speaker 3 (26:39):
Him or whatever the charges against him were.
Speaker 6 (26:43):
It is interesting how that dissip I mean, you know
what else, Like the Brett farv One kind of calmed down,
but it did.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
That one got really quiet too. But I don't know.
Speaker 2 (26:52):
Yeah, the Michael Irvin thing, I haven't seen him on
NFL network.
Speaker 1 (26:57):
I'm pretty certain that all the charges were were let
let go or or where it's like, it's it's a
closed deal now, so he's actually clear to be able
to return if he were to return.
Speaker 3 (27:10):
So I don't know.
Speaker 1 (27:11):
That's what I heard, and I and and the only
reason why I feel like I have that information is
because I was just at the U and that was,
you know, kind of it.
Speaker 3 (27:24):
I eavesdropped it, but it came up. That's interesting. I'm reading.
Speaker 6 (27:28):
I'm reading an article from June, and uh, it looks like.
Speaker 3 (27:33):
The case was moved to Arizona, right.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
And the civil case is still going at least.
Speaker 3 (27:38):
Yeah, yeah, these things tend to take a long time.
Speaker 1 (27:42):
Now, is the civil case against Mike or is it
Mike's civil case against the Probably multiple, right.
Speaker 8 (27:48):
There are multiple, but the one against Mike is still going.
Speaker 1 (27:51):
Okay, okay, because you get a nice from oh that's
from the lady.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
Yeah, miss Doe. Yes, okay, you.
Speaker 6 (27:57):
Gotta think Jane Doe in this case is going to
keep this thing going because it probably prohibits him from
doing some things that he wants to do.
Speaker 3 (28:04):
If you've got a pending lawsuit that you don't.
Speaker 6 (28:07):
Know what the outcome is gonna be, and eventually you'd
probably think someone's like, all right, they'll just settle and
that way they can both move on with their lives.
Speaker 3 (28:16):
Like that's kind of the strategy. I think that happened
at the NFL network.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
What do you mean, Wait, what were talking about today?
Speaker 3 (28:23):
Was involved in that too?
Speaker 2 (28:24):
What are you talking about?
Speaker 3 (28:26):
I mean read look up NFL network, look at up twice?
Speaker 1 (28:33):
Yeah, three times a leg That's where I met Brady
Quinn for the first time. We worked together for the
first time on the NFL Network.
Speaker 9 (28:42):
Early of the morning, by the way, to bring it
full circle, as I was walking to or going to
the elevator, Michael was just getting in from going out.
Speaker 3 (28:52):
How about I was coming up to me. I swear
to god, I was. I was. I forget where I
was done a lot before.
Speaker 6 (28:58):
Maybe I think I was trying to figure out, like
where to go, And I remember I was getting in
the elevator and he was just getting he like he
was just.
Speaker 3 (29:04):
Getting in from wherever the hell he was. Yeah, just
to bring that full circle.
Speaker 2 (29:08):
Now, what year was that?
Speaker 1 (29:10):
Ooh, that's gotta be Wow, that's over ten years ago.
Maybe it wouldn't have been over It wouldn't have been
over ten.
Speaker 6 (29:20):
I mean it would have been right when I got
out from playing, so it would have been like it
might have been twenty fifteen somewhere there missing.
Speaker 2 (29:26):
So LeVar, you may have worked with Brady Quinn even
before I did.
Speaker 3 (29:29):
No, I did that. Not he for sure could have.
I did. He for sure did, just so you.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
Know, I'm all right, yeah, I stole him.
Speaker 3 (29:38):
Well you did steal them.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
I mean Brady just kept his star kept going up,
and mine just kind of shot.
Speaker 2 (29:44):
I'm like Rudy's brother.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
Mine was a shooting star. Brady's is just there, you know,
it's like just boom, like there it is.
Speaker 2 (29:50):
I'm Rudy's brother. You went a way to the service, And.
Speaker 6 (29:53):
I feel like I ruined a lot of people's dreams
this morning with that whole conversation.
Speaker 2 (29:58):
Wait listen, they got to learn the truth sometime. Yeah, alright, sorry, man, Yeah,
it happens. But at least.
Speaker 3 (30:07):
I was. I liked the movie I did. Charles S.
Dunton made me like I think.
Speaker 1 (30:12):
I I think the first time I saw it, I
got tears in my eyes when he was like proud
of Rudy, like like you know, you know, yeah, yeah,
I got you know, I got teary at I always
wanted to play for. Note there was two teams that
that three. I gotta be honest, there was three teams
that I always wanted to play for, and one of
them wasn't even Penn State, Like no, what's crazy?
Speaker 3 (30:34):
One.
Speaker 6 (30:35):
If we had to transfer portal too, we would be
snatching LeVar after we would have we would have gone
after him.
Speaker 1 (30:42):
I mean, I almost I know you told me that story.
Speaker 3 (30:47):
That's what I'm saying. You would we would have entasty
to get on over there. I'd I didn't start, like
think about this. I didn't start the first three games
of my sophomore year.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
I was I was just talking to my son who's
at Della, and I was just telling them the story.
I was like, you know, I was telling guys, you
just got to stay focused in on what your goal
and your task are. Like you sometimes you're just not
going to get the job. I had to go through
winter conditioning, spring practices, summer practices, and training camp as
a number two.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
Me too my sophomore year and I.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
Ended up being the first sophomore to win Defensive Player
of the Year of the Big Ten. And I didn't
even start going into the season, you know what I mean.
So but anyway, yeah, I certainly wanted to go to Pennstow.
I wanted to go to Notre Dame, Florida State, and Miami.
Those were my three schools that I wanted. Notre Dame,
by the way, Miami and Florida State is Delaware?
Speaker 3 (31:41):
Ready?
Speaker 6 (31:42):
Are you ready for the matchup with your son taking
on your alma manor?
Speaker 1 (31:46):
I want to be there. We know we talked about
this everywhere. To be on the field for it. I'm
taking every one of that.
Speaker 3 (31:52):
But William, are you going to stay on the field
for the whole thing?
Speaker 1 (31:55):
I told you what I'm doing. I'm going on their
side line because that's my son. I'm gonna stand on
the sideline and take in the fact that my son
is going up against my team in my house. And
I told him if k Tron or or Nick trucks you,
I'm walking out and I'm going to tailgate. Jut, I
(32:16):
don't even care if you're having a great game. If
you get trucked by k Tron or Nick Singleton, I'm
walking out now.
Speaker 3 (32:26):
Take that.
Speaker 1 (32:27):
I don't I don't want no no roadways going over
in Arrington's chests. You handle your bent, you handle your business.
Speaker 6 (32:34):
Hey, hold on, now, I know your son's big, but
those running backs are big too.
Speaker 3 (32:38):
Man.
Speaker 1 (32:39):
Hey, this is a big boy, a Keno Arrington yoked
to the gels. Yeah, that's all I'm gonna tell you.
I'll send you a picture.

Sports or otherwise?
Speaker 3 (35:14):
All right?
Speaker 2 (35:14):
Lead to laugh? What do we got? Guys?
Speaker 8 (35:16):
I gotta ask who would you rather fight? Mark Zuckerberg,
Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos?
Speaker 2 (35:22):
Bezos?
Speaker 3 (35:24):
Why Bezos?
Speaker 2 (35:26):
I don't. I don't think his conditioning is great? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (35:32):
Positive, because look who he's with. I feel like they, uh,
there's probably some stamina necessary.
Speaker 6 (35:38):
Well, I mean, I mean he's he's the oldest, right,
he's fifty nine years old.
Speaker 2 (35:43):
Yeah, I mean, fair point. I just feel like he's
a little bit too bulky and so with that doesn't
really lead to a lot.
Speaker 3 (35:50):
Of you to height and weight on these guys. So
you know what we're up against.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
Yeah, what'd you guess, Bezos is I'm gonna go.
Speaker 6 (35:56):
I think he's the biggest of all three? You think so, yeah,
wise for sure. I'm waiting height coming by.
Speaker 2 (36:02):
I'm gonna go five to nine.
Speaker 8 (36:06):
Five seven and a half.
Speaker 2 (36:08):
Oh yeah, what gim me Bezos Damn.
Speaker 3 (36:11):
Next to that rocket, he looks uh a lot bigger.
I guess that's the point. Huh. I'm just saying, man,
how would they took a picture of that photo? I
was like, he looks like six over.
Speaker 2 (36:22):
Six fish When Tony Gonzalez met him for the first time,
do you think he's like seriously, like seriously, I got
a foot on this guy like that? That's that's where
we're going.
Speaker 3 (36:32):
I guess.
Speaker 6 (36:32):
Hold on, after you whoop their ass, I assume you're
gonna be like friends with them maybe or are they gonna
hate you?
Speaker 3 (36:37):
Because there's that it too. Yeah, that's embarrassing. They're gonna
hate you all right.
Speaker 6 (36:42):
Probably Zuckerberg then, because like he's the one i'd like,
not want to.
Speaker 3 (36:46):
I wouldn't care. I'm not on I'm not on Facebook,
don't you know.
Speaker 1 (36:50):
I'm a tough type of dude mentally. So I think
I would want Zuckerberg because I think he's the one
that believes he would truly win. Oh, I want I
want to smoke, so I whoop his little ass. So
you could challenge me, Mark, you want to call it?
You know, we could go to the coliseum too. Oh yeah,
(37:11):
let me let me put this together, let me let
me promote this. I would be as they'd have to
stop that bad boy.
Speaker 6 (37:21):
That's the thing about like a guy like that is
he'd be trying to like submit you or getting some
sort of like armbar and meanwhile we just punched him
the face.
Speaker 1 (37:28):
It just wouldn't even work. Like it's one of those things.
I'd be holding his head while he's swinging you know. Yeah, yeah,
you ain't seen me lately, Q. I've been in that
gym broyle.
Speaker 8 (37:42):
God, would you rather honk at the person in front
of you at every stop light? When it turns green,
or wait at the stop light until the person behind
you honks.
Speaker 3 (37:51):
Now I'm honking another honk. I'm honking quick. Yeah, I'm
quick to them. An Jonas is gonna say something that's
not gonna.
Speaker 2 (37:59):
Go with Yeah. I think I'd rather honk just because
I would feel like I'm doing something. If I'm just
sitting there, then I feel like an a hole. If
I've got a speed up because I'm waiting there too long.
So at least i feel like I'm doing something and
I'm forcing this person to get the hell out of
the way, I'll go with that. That's a weird one.
That's the considerate thing to do, right, Yeah. Yeah, And
that's what the show is all about.
Speaker 3 (38:21):
And I mean lean on that horn too.
Speaker 4 (38:23):
