The way tire buying should be so Jeff Peter King

(01:03):
had an interesting comment about Trey Lance, the forty nine
Ers quarterback.

Speaker 4 (01:07):
Yeah, I'm sorry, either QB two or QB three.

Speaker 5 (01:10):
Well, he's on the roster. He's on the roster.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
He's on the roster.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
That's all We know for right now, because the quote
of the off season was Kyle Shanahan saying Brock Purty
would have to melt to not be QB one. That wow,
that tells us a lot as far as where the
Niners are with Trey Lance. So Peter King, he said,
five years from now, is Trey Lance even going to

(01:35):
be playing football?

Speaker 4 (01:37):
That was the comment. And I'm curious where you stand
on this.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
Look, who knows is Josh Rosen still in the NFL
right now? I don't know that he's even around, is he, Jeff,
I don't think so.

Speaker 5 (01:50):
I mean, he's been like floating around on practice dodge.
Remember now, the one of the changes that we saw
with rosters after the COVID year was that they expanded
practice squads, right so, and they expanded the eligibility rules
for practice squads, so guys can be on practice squad,
you know, well after they've kind of been past the

(02:12):
normal time and also if they've been a starter. They
played to me, he's never be that way, right you
only had a certain amount of of service time. He could,
you know, to be a practice squad.

Speaker 4 (02:20):
Player, right well, Josh Rosen, he listened.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
He might be a year or two away from being
out of the NFL completely, and that was a former
top ten picks. So crazier things have happened, right like
Johnny Manzel was out of the league very fast. There
are reasons for these things, But the idea that Trey
Lance could be out of the NFL entirely within the
next five years, it's at least within the realm of possibility.

Speaker 5 (02:44):
Absolutely right.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
But the thing with Trey Lance is he's got four
starts on his NFL resume, you know what I mean,
He's thrown one hundred and two passes, and we're acting
as if we've got all the intel, We've got all
the information on t Lance based on where his NFL
career is ultimately headed. And I just think it's far

(03:06):
too early for that. Think of a couple of quarterbacks
who turned the corner last season. Think about Geno Smith
with the Seahawks. He did not have a great resume
before last season. Think about Daniel Jones with the Giants.
He didn't have a great resume before last season. So
this idea that two seasons in, man, there's a great

(03:28):
chance Trey Lance could be gone in the next five years.
I just there are turnarounds all the time in the NFL,
and for a guy who if you compare Trey Lance
to Josh Rosen, Josh Rosen started sixteen games in his career.
You've got a quarter of that with Trey Lance, who
started four games. I think it's too early to just

(03:49):
write the guy completely off. He's not off to a
great start at all, don't get me wrong, But to
write him off as if he's gonna be out of
the league in short order, I just think that goes
too far.

Speaker 5 (04:00):
So we just had a discussion in our one about
Anthony Richardson and the greenness of Anthony richard Right, you know,
not a lot of pass attempts in college, including the
four NFL starts of Trey Lance, he has like four
hundred pass attempts total in his entire life of major
football at North Dakota State, he will only started He

(04:20):
only started like eight games there, Right, And then obviously
it's time of the Niners. The Niners because they're in
a win now mode, unlike other teams that draft quarterbacks.
Third overall is that they can't afford to play him
as much as he needs to get better as a quarterback.

(04:41):
So it's not. It's a disservice to Trey Lance for
his improvement, but also a disservice I would argue by
the Niners to draft a quarterback who needed time. They
thought Trey Lance would come in there and be a
Patrick Mahomes right from day one, bona fide starter, super
caliber quarterback, and for the most part, that doesn't happen.

(05:04):
That's a rarity in the NFL, and Trey Lance was
not ready for that, and so I don't think he's
out in the NFL in five years. Someone will give
him a chance. The problem is, I don't know who
that someone's gonna be and how long they give him
a chance for. But you know, Josh Rosen was very
clearly just not a good NFL quarterback, right Like, I
don't think any amount of reps would have change that.
But we don't know anything anything at all about Trey

(05:27):
Lance because no one's given an opportunity to be that
guy for enough of enough period of time. He needs
an opportunity to get seventeen games. Man, he needs that chance.
He's not getting that with the Niners. And there's no
there's no issue with that kind of on its face, right,
I mean, they need to win now, and he's not
the right quarterback for that. But he's got to get

(05:47):
opportunity from someone. And I don't know who that someone is,
but I think someone will give him that will give
him that chance, and then we'll determine whether or not
he's good enough to play in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
Right and man, you look at where he's at right
now with San Francisco as backup guy. When you see
him getting preseason snaps against the Broncos, you gotta look
at who he's surrounded by. A He's like a lead
guitarist in a band and the rhythm section sucks, the
drummer is off time. You know, the line isn't blocking,

(06:17):
the receivers aren't catching, there's an illegal formation that wipes
out a first that it is just a motley crew
around him, and you have to take that into account.

Speaker 4 (06:27):
He misses a notre to himself.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
Don't get me wrong, but if you're trying to be
in a band, it's not just only you and what
brock Purty is surrounded by. You look at him against
the Broncos in his one drive out there, even though
he didn't have Christian McCaffrey or George Kittle or Trent Williams.
He's still surrounded by Deebo, Samuel Brandon, ay Yuke, He's

(06:51):
still surrounded by guys and they're just drooling off.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
Look, he picked up where he left off.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
It's like it was like a play action roll out
a five yard pass to a wide open debo and
people are drooling. It's like Trey Lance can do that,
but he's not getting that chance because Birdie maximized his
opportunity with all the injuries last year, and now he's
the backup guy.

Speaker 4 (07:14):
Trey Lance. That's just where he's at.

Speaker 5 (07:16):
There is something to be said though about you sort
of like know if to me, if a quarterback has
it pretty early in their career. Now, again, Trey Lance
has a young quarterback. He has been thrown a lot
of passes, so maybe, excuse me, the it factor just

(07:40):
has to be developed. But even when quarterbacks like a
Josh Allen struggle early in their careers, there is a
little bit of like, Okay, I kind of see that
with Josh Allen. Right, I'm not even sure we even
have that yet with with Trey Lance. And maybe that's
what the Niners unfortunately have not seen yet. And that's

(08:02):
why they're out on Trey Lance, like there's a little
bit of like of spark right in practice. Now, I
go back to Pat Mahomes is the worst example because
he's an all time great. But you know when when
you listen to the Chiefs players talk about Patrick Mahomes
as a scout team player right as a preseason guy,
they were in awe of what he was doing on
the field. And I have and I know, and I

(08:25):
know that Trey Lance has had injuries and not practice
as much as most quarterbacks are not having up going
to do so. But I but I haven't seen those
reports of like there are things he does in practice,
guys that are pretty special. We haven't seen that yet.
So again, I think he needs time to develop. He
obviously does. If he was given the opportunity of Josh

(08:46):
Allen get two plus years of maybe a year three,
he pops. But I also think that there just hasn't
been that those reports out of practice, like man, he
he guys, he's making some throws you gotta see, like
Patrick Mahomes. And I actually downplayed those because I thought
and I still believe that my brother was on the team.

(09:07):
I know the team pretty well that you know, they
wasn't ready to play quite yet, but there was still
that thought of like, yeah, he's doing some really some
incredible things in practice. And I'm not sure we've got
one report of Trey Lance lighting up the scout team
in practice.

Speaker 4 (09:22):
That's the brother that you hate, right of course.

Speaker 5 (09:24):
One, yeah, depending on who you read. Yeah, the one
if you read a news Day, I hated him. If
you read the New York Post, I was, I love
my brother.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
You're a big fan of your brother. I think this
about also with Trey Lance. You go back to that
draft just two years ago and the Niners move up
to the number three pick, trade a boat load and
it was between Trey Lance and Mac Jones. And you
heard this a lot at the time. You got to
have a mobile quarterback. You gotta have mobility, have to

(09:52):
have it in today's NFL. I think of it like this, Jeff.
I think mobility it's great, it could be very valuable,
extending plays, running for yardage. But mobility isn't the engine
in the car, like throwing. Ability is the engine in
the car. I think of a quarterback like a car.

(10:13):
Mobility is a lot of the bells and whistles. It's
the fun stuff. It might be a great sound system,
it might be ooh, heated seats or leather seats or
things like that, the bells and whistles, but the car
isn't going anywhere without the engine. And the engine of
the quarterback car is throwing ability. You look at guys

(10:33):
like Mahomes or Josh Allen. Those guys can move, and
that puts a lot of stress on a defense, but
they wouldn't be great quarterbacks without their top flight passing ability.
If you look at Justin Fields a good example with
the Bears, he can move, He's a mobile guy. The
Bears are going nowhere until he becomes a better pass well.

Speaker 5 (10:56):
He's also he was such a good passer that they
didn't have to play him in the in the game either.
You know, the Bears offense is just so ready to go. Right.
Your point is, I'll extend your point a little bit
more right, because what makes a quarterback great is first
and foremost the ability to operate in the pocket. Right,

(11:17):
they're good to operate in the pocket, and the ability
to make the throw on third and eighth when there's
people around your feet, there's pressure on your face, and
you're just standing in the pocket making throws. Obviously, Tom
Brady made a career of that. Drew Brees has made
a career of that. Right, it's mobility in the pocket.
To have accessory talents right as a passer outside the

(11:41):
pocket is great, it is it really. Obviously when Mahomes
breaks contain, throws the ball back across his body Travis
Kelcey on third and twelve and they get a first
out is backbreaking for a defense. But those plays over
a season ten times, it's not a lot. Then of
course the highlights go on and on and on, and
we talk about those plays forever. I just watched the Chiefs,

(12:03):
you know, play uh play the other day against Arizona.
Pat had three drives. He did that one time in
three drives. Travis Kelsey like the rest of his action
was in the pocket. Now he had that great almost
great player where he scrambled out and five guys around me.
He did that jump throw That would be great, but
it was a complete pass. The most shared highlight from
the game is an incomplete pass, Brian. The ability to

(12:26):
throw from the pocket is the most important thing now
being mobile in the pocket. Mac Jones, as we started
with Mac. He's mobile enough in the pocket, right, he
can move enough in the pocket. He's not a statue
out there. But even though so, there are quarterbacks who
do not move in the pocket, who are statues, but
they tailor their game. Drew Brees, Philip Rivers, Braid comes
to mind, Brady. But I think Brady Brady does not

(12:49):
get enough credit for how mobile he moved in the pocket,
how well Lou moved in the pocket. Yeah, but guy
like Drew Brees, Right, even though I always admired Philip
Rivers because guy could not move to save his life,
but he tailed his game around that. He dropped eight yards,
he threw the ball quickly, he took hits in his
face like he played to his style. And you're right.

(13:11):
If I were to choose a quarterback, I'd probably choose
mobility if everything was equal, to choose the more mobile guy.
But like again, Mac Jones I think was the pick
over Trey Lance. I don't know what I said at
the time, but I think it's very clear that Mac Jokes,
Mac Jones would is an upgraded brock Party, right, he
would be a better brock Party.

Speaker 4 (13:30):
That's right, That's exactly it.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
And I think that's something that's off and overlooked, is
just feel and subtle movement in the pocket. Oh yeah,
and you're right, Tom Brady was the master at that.
You go back to I remember those games against the Steelers.
Remember when the Steelers are really good running that three
four and you had guys like Joey Porter and Clark
Hagan's just screaming off the edge and they'd be bearing

(13:55):
down on Brady and it'd be just a little couple
of steps up in the pocket and they'd go around him.
And that subtle movement in the pocket is very underrated.
And it's become like you've got to be a borderline
four to four guy and just run away from dudes.
And that's how we're defining mobility. And listen, it's not
utilized nearly as much as it's thought to be utilized.

Speaker 4 (14:18):
And you got to be able to throw darts. That's
the thing man. In today's NFL.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
You got to be able to, you know, dissect the
defense quickly, make quick decisions, make accurate throws, be a
precise passer. I think the bells and whistles are the
great mobility traits.

Speaker 4 (14:33):
That's fine, but that's.

Speaker 3 (14:35):
Not what's driving the car man, It's it's passing ability.

Speaker 4 (14:38):
That's the way the.

Speaker 3 (14:39):
Rules are set up. Like you can kill a quarterback
who becomes a runner. You have to caress the guy
down to the ground if you hit him in the pocket.
That's just the way the game is set up.

Speaker 5 (14:48):
Now, yeah, it is. And again so like the valuations, again,
we have not seen that from from Trey Lance, right,
we have not seen the uh those plays in the pocket. Really,
I know people are salivating over his as you mentioned,
his fourth quarter performance against a bunch of backups, but

(15:09):
you know you wanted to be a starter. You got
to see that against the ones, right, you haven't You haven't. Unfortunately,
you haven't seen that to the degree that the Niners want,
and they don't have They don't have time to wait,
they have they don't. They're a day They are a
championship caliber team and unfortunately, Brian, I think most of
the too this way, they're not winning a super Bowl
with with brock Purty like they're in a they're in

(15:29):
a really difficult spot right now.

Speaker 3 (15:31):
Well, and that's the thing to put a bow on
the whole thing. Think about all the injuries from last year,
Trey Lance got hurt, Jimmy g got hurt, and Brock
Purdy got a chance. How do we know Brock Purty
is going to remain upright this entire season?

Speaker 5 (15:44):
You know?

Speaker 4 (15:44):
So who knows? Injury could open.

Speaker 5 (15:46):
The Sam Donald and people are like excited about this offense.
Guys at the Shanahan offense. Think about what it's done
for certain players, right a rejuvenated Anon Rodgers career. It
turned Kirk Cousins into something else too, a better quarterback.
It made Jared Goff a super Bowl caliber quarterback. It

(16:08):
is it's a quarterback friendly offense, and so it hides
the flaws at times of quarterbacks. Remember, the most important
thing that I judge quarterbacks by is the ability to
operate on third down, the ability to Again, that's a
small percentage of their game, but it's arguably the most

(16:30):
important part of the game. And the reason why people
do not trust Brock Party to be that guy is
we just haven't seen enough of the two minute drill
of the third downs because that offense puts him in
third and two because they run the ball so well.
And again, that's a positive quality to have as a
play caller. This is not a knock on Kyle Shanahan.

(16:51):
But the games are often won and lost on those
third and eight moments, those third and ten moments, and
the Niners are not in those moments very often until
they play the Eagles, until they play the Chiefs, and
until they play those teams, and you have to in
The Chiefs scored forty one points in them last season.
Is Brock Party putting up forty one points in a
game like that against Kansas City?

Speaker 4 (17:10):
Probably not, though yeah, I don't think so.

and football season is here, Manci freaken Jeff, Yeah, absolutely,
I'm excited for I don't know if I'm playing in
the twenty.

Speaker 5 (19:55):
If you laying the twenty, I'm I I gotta. I
have to write about this game water for Fox Sports,
and I think if I'm given a gambling wager, I'm
taking the twenty year. I mean, Navy is completely changing
themselves right, new coach, new offense, new everything. I'm very high.

(20:15):
I mean, Marcus Freeman can coach. I feel like one
thing we do that is just silly to me is
we don't we just we don't give any grace to
first year coaches. You know Brian Venables in Oklahoma, Brian Vnables,
I should say not Brian Brian Vnables Oklahoma. You know
Marcus Freeman, Dan Lanning at Oregon, Like guys, Year one

(20:38):
is always going to be a little hard, like it's okay, Yeah,
Marcus Freeman had some things happening, you know, and didn't
start great. Like give them a little bit of time.
They're recruiting, well, they have a veteran quarterback now and
Sam Hartman just Navy is going through some things. I
think that is just an issue for them and in
this game, if you're asking my opinion. The one thing

(21:00):
I'm very curious about this and we'll see this obviously
more as we kind of get into the season, is
college football change their clock rules this year. They decided
that the game was too slow. I don't know who
they is, but they.

Speaker 4 (21:17):
Decided that right, yeah.

Speaker 5 (21:19):
And they basically went to the NFL clock rule, which
is we're not stopping the clock unless there's a timeout
or the ball was out of bounds. Previously, as we know,
they would stop the clock if there was a first down.
They stop enough to reset it and move and then
when they reset the clock, then they would you know,
wind the wind the clock, and so we're going to

(21:43):
have less place, We're going to have less opportunity for
teams to come back. We're going to have a different
game now. And how does that affect gameplay? How does
that effect totals as far as gambling. I asked someone
about this yesterday. They said they're going to take about
five percent off of a total for their productions this year.

(22:06):
But the gameplay thing is not talked about enough, Brian
so previously, in college football, if you're down in multiple scores,
you can throw the ball anywhere in the field and
the clock can stop with the first down, right, throw
the ball the middle of the field, first down, throw
the ball, clock stop. Throw the ball five yards short
to the running back gets nine yards, first down, nine

(22:30):
more yards. You know, first down this year, man, you can't.
You have to do the NFL does you have to
throw the sidelined You have to spike the ball now,
which you never did in college football. You have to
spike the ball and kill the clock. Well, that's one
less play now to get the ball down the field.
Like it changes the entire game play at the end
of games now and makes it to the NFL. Your

(22:52):
Oregon unfortunately lost last season to Oregon State because the
Beavers ran the ball nineteen times in a row. It's
going twenty eight points to.

Speaker 4 (22:58):
Fourth cornsh Mouth.

Speaker 5 (23:00):
That can't happen anymore. Don't have time for that, right,
don't have time for that.

Speaker 3 (23:04):
You know it's crazy too, because this has been the
off season of realignment. It's just realignment talk. This team's
going there, there's gonna start in twenty twenty four. This
conference is done, it's the Pack four. It's been all
realignment stuff. But you're so right about this, and correct
me if I'm wrong. Is it after a first down
except for like the final two minutes of your half?

Speaker 4 (23:26):
Okay, that's what it is.

Speaker 3 (23:27):
So fifty six minutes of the entire game, if you
pick up a first down, the clock is winding.

Speaker 5 (23:32):
But the last two minutes, though, I mean, that's not
gonna it's.

Speaker 4 (23:35):
Not gonna do a ton.

Speaker 3 (23:36):
No, it helps a little bit at the end, but
almost the entire game is different than what you've been
used to for a long time in college football, where
it first down, you stop the clock momentarily. But if
you're going fast, if you're down by say seventeen in
the fourth quarter, it's time to go. When you've got
the ball in your trailing and the clock stops after

(23:57):
each first.

Speaker 4 (23:57):
Down, that helps you a ton, Yes, and that's gone.

Speaker 3 (24:02):
It's just like we should probably focus on that with
the season right around the corner instead of realignment stuff.

Speaker 5 (24:07):
You know it obviously, you know the ability to substitute
changes now, right because when the clock stops or you're
able to substitute. And we know that when you substitute
college football, the official holds the ball till the defense
can make a subsequent change. Well, when the clock is stopped,
it's much easier, right, the clock stopped, you make a change.

(24:30):
The clock is stopped, Well, the defense makes a change.
Right now, you want to.

Speaker 3 (24:34):
Substitute someone in, Yeah, the clock's running, and you see
those defensive players. You'll see I don't know, like the
safety that runs a four or five all of a
sudden run a ninety to forty, you know what I mean,
just like barely trotting off the field. Meanwhile, to your point,
the clock is running.

Speaker 5 (24:54):
Oh gosh, yeah, well, I'm obviously I watch a lot
of organ organ does that like the best. They they
take like the as much time because it's a delay
a game. Like if if you sub laid an offense
and they hold and they hold, they hold it up
basically for the defense to make a change, Like they
just do like a defensive tackle and they just have
them right as slow as possible. That's right, and that's

(25:14):
a delay. It's a delay game.

Speaker 3 (25:17):
It's wild that you've got to change that. In college football,
you can't have a guy trotting off the field as
slowly as possible. I've seen delay of game penalties because
they just allowed the defensive guy to barely jog off
the field.

Speaker 4 (25:32):
You go, come on moving right like they haven't done
that though.

Speaker 5 (25:37):
The you know, the this rule is made as most
rules are sometimes out of fairness, right, but guys, sports
is not fair. Life is certainly not fair, and the
rule to me is is not. It's not the fairness
of letting them substitute doesn't really make it fair, you

(26:00):
know what I mean, Like, that's make it fair to
the offense. So sometimes you know, it just happens. You
have to you have to make a change. So I mean,
I guess the flip side of it is that you
know it would be unfair to a defense for an
offense to make a late substitution. You're in the wrong
package and wrong personnel and they kind of try to
trip you up that way. I get that, I guess,
but and you know, and you know, and in the NFL

(26:23):
with with everyone huddling as much as they do, lots
of defense to get the right personnel group saying, so
I see the other side a little bit, but it
really it's really not helpful for the game.

Speaker 3 (26:35):
No, No, it's uh. But it's something to keep in mind.
With the clock issues, it's going to be a lot different,
maybe a few more unders this year than last year.

Speaker 4 (26:45):
Gamblers. Keep that in mind.

Speaker 5 (26:46):
Yeah, even though I like the over in the USC
Santa States, I'm all about the uh. I am. I'm
an under guy. I like you. I like being boring
and bang unders.

Speaker 3 (26:56):
Yeah, yeah, it's uh. Every now and then you're banking
on a big towey defense to like, come just get
a stop a stop, and we're in Mike, there's.

Speaker 5 (27:06):
No way this happening.

Speaker 3 (27:09):
Yeah, and you're like, it's uh, you know, it's it's
thirty five to twenty one at halftime. We're not looking
great right now. Sometimes that's how it goes. Hey, looking
to turn a small bed into a big payday. With

Slash Sportsbook for details. Okay, Jeff, so Yahoo Sports. They
used Madden twenty four simulations to predict what will happen
in the upcoming NFL season, and let's just say it's

(27:50):
a disaster.

Speaker 4 (27:52):
Holy hell.

Speaker 3 (27:53):
So there are two different simulations and then they just
looked at the two different ones and they said what's
more likely to happen and that sort of thing. So
one of the things that they found out, now, mind you,
they had the Colts going sixteen and one last season.
That's what Madden predicted. That was clearly not the case.
So with that in mind, you know these quarterback last year, yeah, right,

(28:15):
with Matt Ryan as their Week one starting QB. They
had the Colts going sixteen on one.

Speaker 5 (28:20):
Okay, so that's all right, work sure.

Speaker 3 (28:23):
So this year, brock Party leading the NFL in touchdown
passes with thirty nine against only five interceptions. What do
you think perty the chances of party going thirty nine
and five are I would say absolutely zero. That's probably
negative zero most likely right there. How about this Jeff

(28:44):
leading the league and receiving yards and touchdowns Vikings receiver
kJ Osborne.

Speaker 4 (28:51):
It's kind of leading the league.

Speaker 5 (28:53):
How did they get to this?

Speaker 2 (28:55):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (28:56):
I don't play maddens. I have no idea, man, I
don't either.

Speaker 4 (29:00):
How they simulate the season and these are the results?

Speaker 3 (29:03):
This is my favorite one. Okay, so it starts off realistically.
Patrick Mahomes wins MVP.

Speaker 4 (29:09):
Oh great, all right?

Speaker 3 (29:11):
Yeah, he threw forty one touchdown passes only three interceptions,
which is uncommonly low. But the Chiefs go nine to
eight and miss the playoffs. That's what'd up at all?

Speaker 5 (29:25):
So if they have eighteen fumbles this season and like
that's how they lose a bunch of.

Speaker 3 (29:28):
Games, their defense is the worst defense of all time
and they can't help fumbling the ball.

Speaker 5 (29:36):
Christ Jones playing? Is Chris Jones holding out? He is
he out? Is that what's happening?

Speaker 3 (29:40):
I would imagine Chris Jones is definitely out. I would
say most of the defense has a chicken pox or
I don't know something something.

Speaker 5 (29:51):
Problem.

Speaker 3 (29:52):
How about this the Jets, according to these Madden simulations,
they go five and twelve. But Aaron Rodgers has a
good season thirty one touchdowns, eleven interceptions. But get this, Jeff,
the pass defense, that's what does the Jets in They
gave up over four thousand yards through the air, the

(30:15):
worst in the league.

Speaker 5 (30:16):
Wow. Yeah, that's okay, mad.

Speaker 4 (30:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (30:20):
They also have the Rams in one simulation going two
and fifteen. They had the Bears in another simulation going
to and fifteen, the good Teams Cowboys sixteen and one,
the Commander's thirteen and four, Jeff, Right, And get this,
how about Denver? Denver goes fourteen and three, unblemished at

(30:42):
home nine to no.

Speaker 5 (30:44):
So, you know, one of my favorite sports stats is
the Broncos have won a Super Bowl more recently than
they being the Chiefs.

Speaker 4 (30:55):
Wow. That's yeah, that's a great one.

Speaker 5 (30:56):
And so that mean that this has ended the Broncos
are being.

Speaker 4 (31:01):
The Chiefs, right, yeah, yeah, But.

Speaker 5 (31:04):
That they won a Super Bowl in twenty fifteen and
they lost the Chiefs in the final game they played
them in that season have not been the chief since then.

Speaker 3 (31:13):
That is insane. That really is an insane statone put
a bow on it. This is insane. So two different simulations.
One has Dallas beating Denver in the Super Bowl. That's
okay whatever. The other one the Chiefs Jeff lose to
the nine and eight Vikings. The Vikings sneak in nine

(31:36):
and eight, they go on to beat the Chiefs in
the super Bowl.

Speaker 5 (31:40):
Interesting. Yeah, so a Giants esque run, right they have?

Speaker 3 (31:44):
Yeah, a little bit right, yeah, little the Giants. That's
a super Bowl? Was that forty six? That was the
second one, wasn't it?

Speaker 5 (31:52):
Yeah? Sorry, the second one was? What? Yeah? The first one?
They won the division in seven is eleven? They were
a wildcard team.

Speaker 3 (31:57):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I wouldn't run it betting window on
any of that stuff.

Speaker 5 (32:02):
Uh No, I mean mahomes MVP.

Speaker 4 (32:05):
Sure, yeah that makes sense.

Speaker 5 (32:08):
But but that might be the only one I go
to the window for.

Speaker 3 (32:10):
Uh, definitely be the only the Rams. Like, look, man,
real fast on the Rams. I'm not saying they're gonna
be fourteen and three. I think they're catching way too
much flak. They their main guys were injured half the season.
You know, like if they're blessed with better health at all,

(32:33):
they're gonna be better than their win total is six
six and a half.

Speaker 5 (32:39):
Have you seen their roster though, like I have, I
guess they got all Cooper Cup Like that's like it though,
that's like, that's just a bunch of a bunch of
young cats.

Speaker 3 (32:48):
Hey, man, Seattle had a bunch of young cats play
really well last.

Speaker 5 (32:51):
Season, absolutely, especially to tackle. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (32:53):
Yeah, it was a big shot in the arm. So
we'll see how the young guys play with the Rams.
But I think better health. I'm not asking for a
double wins. I'm saying, give me to seven in the NFC.
I think that's possible. I definitely do.

Speaker 5 (33:04):
Hey.

Speaker 3 (33:04):

(36:01):
the corner, thank goodness. My baseball bets have been bad
the last couple of days. We need football around here, goodness.
But one of the the BETMGM sends out all these
insight emails and they let you know the amount of
money that's being wagered at least percentage wise the amount

(36:22):
of bets on each of them in the futures market.
So if you look at the NFL, what caught my
attention the most comeback player of the year. So the
most money wagered and the most amount of bets wagered
are on Russell Wilson. That's right now. The odds leader
is DeMar Hamlin, far and away. He's like minus two

(36:43):
seventy five. He's a huge favorite. Russ is at twenty
to one. So some of that is, you know, your
eyes start envisioning this mammoth payday and all that. But
I found that interesting the most amount of bets and
the most amount of money are on Broncos quarterback Russell
Wilson to be named comeback Player of the Year.

Speaker 5 (37:04):
What exactly is he? Is he coming back from.

Speaker 4 (37:07):
He's coming back from last season. Yeah, that's not the
that's not.

Speaker 5 (37:12):
The spirit of the award of playing. Yeah, I got
who started every game last season stunk and now he
gets the award the next year for comeback Player of
the year. Comeback Player of the year is a player
like Gino Smith who didn't start for six seasons? Uh,
and was it was? You know, we played well and
come back play of the Year is Damar Hamlin, Right
is Alex Smith. It's not Russell Wilson didn't play well

(37:33):
last season, so therefore he's come back Player of the
Year in the next season. Because part of comeback Player
of the Year to me, at least I don't vote
on the award is that you're coming back from something
out of your control. Right, an injury is what happened
Tomar Hamlin is out of his control. Right, it was
a freak accident. Alex Smith again accident, Right, he broke

(37:57):
his leg and it obviously got affected. And whatnot. Comeback
Player of the Year is not. I wasn't mentally prepared
as well as I should have to play the game.
I just didn't play well because my physical gifts have
started to derail, and I haven't changed my game to
to to reflect that at all. Right, that's not comeback
Player of the Year to me?

Speaker 3 (38:18):
How about coming back from Nathaniel Hackett? Though throw Hackett
in the mic.

Speaker 5 (38:22):
I I have over prepared for every situation, so when
a situation arises, I haven't mentally prepared for, I freak
out or I'm I'm a robot. Uh and and I
had to to unprogram myself to play better in year
two in Denver, like these are not comeback Player of
the Year, uh to me?

Speaker 3 (38:40):
Points well, listen the history of the award. More times
than not, it's what you're explaining. It's coming back from
a big injury like Joe Burrow right, coming back from
the the knee injury is rookie season, Andrew Luck coming
back from injury one year, Peyton Manning coming back from injury,
Gronk Eric Bay remember with your chiefs or yeah, cancer

(39:03):
and so yeah, that's typically the way it goes. So
Russ actually a little bit juicier than twenty. He's twenty
five to one, and he's the leader right now in
terms of the money.

Speaker 4 (39:14):
That's being bad.

Speaker 5 (39:15):
I hate to tell everyone to wager on something where
you have to wait three to one, but guess what,
who's doing this award. The more Hamlet's winning this award,
so so they'll let you know that right now, you
can save your money on betting on this one.

Speaker 3 (39:25):
I say wait, I say wait until in season, because
he's not going to be a starter, you know, So
make guys.

Speaker 5 (39:32):
All he was I mean not to be grufi about it.
He had died on the football field, right he's back
playing the next year. He's waiting come back player of
the Year.

Speaker 4 (39:40):
I hear you. I just think you can get a
better price if you're in on this market.

Speaker 5 (39:44):
I think you can.

Speaker 3 (39:45):
Yeah, I think he could get get a better price
if you'll wait just a little bit.

Speaker 5 (39:48):
Just wait.

Speaker 4 (39:49):
It's like a brave heart. Hold hold no, yeah, don't
fire just yeat.

Speaker 3 (39:56):
Would be a better opportunity for you to fire away
if you're you're so inclined there.

Speaker 4 (40:00):
Hey, come it up next.

Speaker 3 (40:02):
