of ball to get to as a Week one is
almost done in college football, and Week one is about
to begin in the NFL. It's a beautiful thing right here.
We've got in front of us.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
It's starting to feel like fall. Buddy. We have one
more game thing you mentioned, Duke and Clemson, two powerhouses
of college football meeting for one more night, and then
we have the four NFL slate on Thursday, the Chiefs
and Lions. And we just had what's one hundred and
and twenty nine teams play over four days. Man, it's lovely.
It's a beautiful time of the season.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Absolutely it is.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Were you out there live for the Ducks beat down? Where, Yeah, Puddles,
I didn't realize that Duck's name was Puddles. I learned
that over the weekend. But Puddles had to do five
hundred and forty six pushups. I hung eighty one on
Portland State.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
Goodness, I think technically his name is like not Puddles,
but we just go with that, okay, But yes, Puddles
had to do four. Yeah, they kept the counter up
on the screen. Was lucky enough to to have some
good seats for that game in the box. And I
was talking to the athletic director when Orgon was up

(02:10):
like fifty to seven with four minutes left in the
second quarter, and he was like, what are they like
what's the protocol here? I was like, you just you
keep playing football. I don't know what do you want
from the like you think about it. You put in
the backups and they want to play just as well, right,
Like it's the opportunity to play, and so yeah, they
play as well. It was dude. It was in their

(02:32):
organ play Portland State. By the way, it was sixty
four to seven with ten minutes left in the third quarter.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
The last two organ games I've been to that were
in Eugene they won seventy seven to seven and eighty
one to seven. The game I went to in Atlanta
they lost forty nine to three. So maybe I just
go only go to games in Eugene.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Why did you choose that game? Did you just want
to get to the opener or was there something with
you being a former player.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
No, So here's what the Georgia game last year, this.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
One, this one, this latest Okay, So.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Here's why Labor Day works for me. One is the
NFL has not started yet, right, so like work schedule.
I know, I missed our show yesterday, but you get
away with that a little bit more when there's no football, right, Like,
I kind of know the schedule and what's gonna happen.
If I was like, hey, I'm gonna miss NFL Week one,
I'm going to watch Oregon play Texas Tech. I all
work obligations, right, It's a little bit easier on Labor

(03:27):
Day weekend to make that happen. But more importantly for
my family. You know, I'm on the East coast, so
I'm making that trip out to the West coast in
the time difference. I chose a game I knew would
be a.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Day game that's savvy. It's a veteran move by.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
Yeah, you know, they play Texas Tech next weekend. That's
a seven eastern and then they they host Hawaii the
next weekend. That's eight eastern, so five local. This is
Portland state, it was. It was twelve Pacific. Yeah, early
as you could kick off on the West coast. So
I knew that. That's mostly why I chose the game,
because I knew it would be a game that I

(04:03):
could uh you know, a good uh you know, good
good time for my family, they see a win. Because
after the Georgia game last year, I wasn't. I wanted
to make sure we saw a Victoria kids.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
Dad, please don't take us to forty three again, please.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
I was honorary captains. That was pretty fun, and uh
yeah it was good. And saw some old friends, some
old teammates and.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
So look, I I when you when you see your team,
and I said this all the time in the NFL preseason,
and and when you see a team play at Portland
State or see a team you know play, you know,
I saw Oregon State play play sant Natas.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
State last night. When you are either in the NFL
preseason when the ones are playing the twos, or Oregon
State is playing it says I think I've watched way
too much of the first two weeks of this season.
Or Organs play in Portland State, it should look like
it like it should right, it should look like a blowout, right,
And so organ winning eighty one to said, just Portland State,

(05:05):
they want eighty one to seven, right, That's that's what
you're supposed to do, right. Oregon State last night I
think was ended up being forty two to ten. No,
I think, yeah, late sco the late score, I'm sorry
about that. I yeah, have to forget the overhit there
forty two to seventeen final play of the game. Says
as scores. You know, you're supposed to blow out bad

(05:26):
football team if you're a good football team, and so
to me, I judge that as like a huge plus
for organ They won that game again, it was fifty
seven to seven and the starting quarterback left the game
and played forty snaps, Like, that's what you're supposed to do.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
Absolutely, it's what you're supposed to do.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
I think that that that is again that that is
a positive, and you should celebrate those if your favorite
team play, you know, Georgia, I know Georgia, different, different scenario,
but I mean there was a seventeen nothing in the
third quarter.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
You're kind of like, yeah, now then I.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
Didn't end up winning thirty eight to zero or something.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
But yeah, you're still don't field good. Yeah, you still
don't feel as good about that. How about this a
team that's in the same conference that stole the show
in Week one? That would be Colorado. It doesn't even
feel like Colorado and Oregon are still in the Pac twelve,
but for one final year that is the case. And
what about the Buffaloes. Man the Buffs getting it done

(06:24):
against TCU as twenty one point underdogs and deon Sanders,
hey Man. To be one and zero as a twenty
one point dog was was an amazing accomplishment. And this
is the thing, Jeff, It's not just about the here
and now, because I know there's a lot of turnover
at TCU who was in the championship game last season,

(06:44):
but they still have a lot of talent over there.
And just how bad Colorado was. You cover the back
twelve very closely, but a couple of the bullet points.
They were one and eleven last year. They lost by
an average of twenty nine points per game last season,
and that was the worst in the country last year.
It was the fourth worst among Power five programs in

(07:08):
the last thirty years. That's where Colorado was. And as
we pretty much all know at this point, only ten
scholarship players from last year's roster are on the team now,
eighty seven new players and a lot of coaches. Pat
Nardouzia Pitt was one of them looking sideways at Deon Sanders, saying,

(07:28):
that's not what the transfer portal is meant for. I
said it at the time. I feel even stronger now.
If you're not breaking the rules, I don't know why
people are hating on coach Prime in the way that
he's building Colorado. But for one game as a twenty
one point dog to win outright, that was and to

(07:49):
do it with your son too, Shedor Sanders coming over
from Jackson State. He throws for a school record five
hundred and ten yards in his debut and oh, by
the way, four more touchdowns to have that, Dion, you know,
twenty one point dogs, your son, the whole thing. That's
like a movie script right there. We saw it lay

(08:10):
out in front of our eyes on Saturday.

Speaker 3 (08:13):
Yeah, I thought they would get blown out, So I was.
I was definitely wrong about that, you know, and more
to do with just the new at Colorado than it
did anything else. As you mentioned, you know, the too
deepest full of players that were not in the locker
room even in the spring, right, it was, it's a
brand new roster. I did believe that Shadur Sanders would

(08:37):
have a different transition from the lower level, right the FCS, FBS,
because he was a high level recruit coming out of college.
You know, a lot of times those quarterbacks that they
make that jump struggle in the first year because they're
you know, the cam Ward for example, as a wash
STK quarterback last season was up and down from he
came from incarnate word. He can was an incarnate word

(08:58):
because he throwed the ball high school. He was like
in a triple option through all four times a game, right, Like,
that's most of the stories. So we knew that that
Sanders had this ability. We know Travis Hunter is good.
Like those are things we knew, Okay, Number twelve was
Travis Hunter. For those who did not, he was a
five star kid. We knew they were good. But to me,
it was the performance of the offensive defensive line. More importantly,

(09:22):
it was a performance of the offensive coordinator who Sean Lewis,
came over from Ken State and he did a marvelous
job of designing an offense to take advantage of TCU's
lack of speed on defense. You Colarad is a good example, guys,
of the importance of recruiting good, good athletes, of recruiting

(09:45):
players that are faster than your opponent. Because they were
faster than TCU all over the field. It was a
great game plan. Sanders played great, Hunter played great. Look
TCU should have had fifty six points. They didn't right
read zone turnovers kind of killing. There's things that Colorido
needs to work on. But I was skeptical. I know,

(10:05):
obviously Edward might have been skeptical. There were a lot
of people that did not believe in Colorado.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
What was ed saying? Did you see us hear his
comments beforehand?

Speaker 3 (10:15):
No, Di doon't said. He wrote something Edward doesn't write anymore,
So I don't know. Maybe it was something from back
in the day when he was covering the Cowboys. I
don't know.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
Or maybe so that was ed when when Dion was like,
oh no, no, no, I saw what you wrote. Oh
it was ed Ward, yeah, ed Ward.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
Yeah, So maybe it was just a broad like you know,
a broad, this your journalist, I'm going to talk to you.
And look, Dion proved us all wrong, right. I didn't
think he could do this so quickly. I they are
five point favorites this week, and I was sitting Nebraska.
I didn't. I didn't think he'd do it this quickly.
Just didn't. And he's proven all us wrong. The thing

(10:52):
that I that I liked the most, all right, anything
I saw in that game was lack of penalties, I mean,
or well coached team and and you know, in the
first half of that game, I watched the first half
live before I went into the stadium in auntsin is
did you notice like, no, no no timeouts for substitution issues? No,

(11:14):
you know, no like looking lost on defense or offense.
You'll no again, no no timeouts because someone was missed
the line somewhere like they played a very well coached game.
And again I watched the film through their offensive line
has like they have some issues, right, they a lot
of again forty two points should have been fifty six.
But nonetheless they showcased if you have better athletes and

(11:37):
better football players, you can win a lot of football games,
and they were. They brought in a lot of new
football players, Travis Hunter obviously, but both the way Sanders
played and they proved all us wrong. Brought I think
they would do it. They proved me wrong. They proved
maybe you wrong. I thought they get blown out like
they did. And I think two, it's a good reminder
that you know, TCU, what they did last year pretty

(12:00):
remarkable because I don't think you know they were picked
to finish one six this year. I think in the
Big twelve, like they they're just not as good as
they were last year. It's a good reminder that returning
productions important. They were turned I think like half of
the production from last season, and they just weren't. They
weren't ready to go, and they weren't ready to play
that game in Colorado. They outskeeeped them, they played them. Dude,

(12:23):
it was impressive. Man. I was super impressed with what
Dione did.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
Yeah, I was too. And listen, this was the back
and forth that Dion Sanders had with the reporter after
the win. And look, to be honest here, there are
a lot of people I know that there are a
lot more believers now than there were before that game.
And it's I think it's two things. Jeff. It's not

(12:47):
that you thought Coach Prime was never gonna turn it around.
You might not have thought he was gonna win game
one outright, Like there's a big difference between saying, oh,
it's gonna be a disaster the whole time and game
one one. I don't know that he hits the ground running.
There are a lot of people that fall in that
boat where they didn't think he was gonna win game one.

(13:07):
He proved a lot of people wrong as far as
that goes. This is what he had to say to
one of the reporters after the win believe.

Speaker 3 (13:17):
Hold hold on, Oh no, do you believe that?

Speaker 2 (13:21):
Who said I didn't believe?

Speaker 3 (13:23):
No? No, I read through that bull junkie rolle. Now
I read through that I did, right. No, Can I
ask my question? Do you believe in what? You don't believe?

Speaker 2 (13:36):
I believe you just answered it.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
You don't believe takes question.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
I mean, I have no problem with that. I think
that's funny. Diann is amazing for college football, Like that's
the thing.

Speaker 3 (13:47):
Sounds like it sounds like this is him and you know,
I think him had a probably know each other for
a long time, who covered the Cowboys for many many years.
It sounds just like a person, like just a funny
personal thing between him too, because that was like, what
what did I write? Ready?

Speaker 2 (14:04):
I right, it'd be funny if he didn't write anything.

Speaker 3 (14:08):
And I don't think there's no he doesn't write anymore, doesn't.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
I'm not sure. Yeah, I don't. I don't know that
he does. I'm not sure. But yeah, hey, listen, man,
I think it's entertaining for college football.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
Oh absolutely, I mean, obviously I covered full time. I
wish Jan would ever come on come on a radio
show he won't, but that's a selfish you know. I
wish he would would do some radio with us. But
their big kickoff is is back this week in in uh,
you know, in uh in Colorado for the home game
against the Nebraska this weekend, which I mean Nebraska had

(14:43):
a little bit of a rough week.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
If you are a Nebraska Frian, Jeff, you're just you're
still tearing your hair out after losing that game.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
So five point favorites Colorado opened up and circle this yesterday.
So yeah, man, collefortball's back, buddy.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
It's back. It's back a big way. Hey. We got
a lot to get to, including one team that messed
with my bankroll, Jeff, and one player who messed with
it as well, So we will get to that here momentarily.
A lot to do. Hey, Week one of college football
not done yet. Week one of the NFL We're almost there,

(15:18):

Speaker 2 (16:38):
Brian, though he's Jeff Schwartz, You're on Fox Sports Radio
in for two pros and a Cup of Joe Man.
Jeff so Lsu messed with me last night. Goodness. I
thought it was a close game until it was a blowout.
I guess it was seventeen fourteen at halftime and Florida's

(17:00):
eight scores thirty one unanswered points. I blinked a couple
of times and I'm like, what what happened to this
close game? It just it unraveled pretty fast, and uh man.
Jordan Travis was sensational last night for Florida State. It
was a mixed bag. He had a couple of really
bad decisions, like two of them where he threw the

(17:20):
ball up for grabs through one interception. But other than that,
I'm talking pinpoint accuracy. It was just a couple of
bad decisions. That was it didn't burn them. But he
ended with three hundred and forty two yards passing in
four touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (17:35):
My Heisman pick for the year started off, well, really,
that's my that's my guy. I've written about him, I've
talked about him. I think he's dealing with the Heisman
this season. The interception he had was pretty atrocious. It
was a bad decision, you know, first game, chalk up
to maybe a little a little excitement. Otherwise, he played
really well. Look, I picked for Stay to win this game,

(17:57):
not really because of him, but more because I thought
there their defensive line and offensive lines were going to
be better. They were, right, you know, That's that's a
big part of football, right is the and their defensive
line is one of the best, if not the best,
in the country. And it's a really tough ask to
start out the season if you are LSU, who has
a good offensive line with you know, a Florida State

(18:21):
team that can really rush the passer, and you know,
you don't see that often in practice right now, LSU
has a defense tackle that was suspended who's good in Perkins,
who was for some reason not rushing the passes much anymore.
But I think Florida State showed that again, the effects
of just having better football players. I know that that's

(18:42):
boring to say, Brian a lot, but you know, a
big part of college football is is coaching is important, obviously,
but if you have better football players, you win a
lot of games. I mean, it's kind of a dumb
thing to say, but it really is. And you know,
you know, you know, like you're no Dame Irish, right,
you have a quarterback.

Speaker 2 (18:59):
Finally look much better. You're looking much better. You are
like good.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
It's it's it's it's about acquiring the most. It doesn't mean,
it doesn't mean that Florida's not playing what don't mean
you're gonna win every game. But it's like it's like
a prerequisite for even belonging to the conversation is having
enough players to compete at that level. And Mike Norvel
is a very good coach you've seen over the years,
whether at Memphis or or or anywhere else, calling plays

(19:26):
and then you add in Jordan Travis, you add in
the good defensive line, and then you got off. It's
one and they did. You know, we talked about transfer
portal players. They crushed the portal on a wide receiver
and it paid off for them. They're good football team.
They're a good football team. I don't have them as should.
I kind of wish I picked them as a playoff
team sort of because I feel like, if if Jordan

(19:46):
Travis is a Heisman caliber quarterback, they're probably making the playoff.
But you're a good football team, man, and they showed
it last night.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
Yeah, and you're talking about the talent you think defensively.
One of the standouts was Jared Verse and that dude
is just a freight train. My goodness, that dude is
just bulrush city, you know. And and one of the
funnier plays of the evening was before halftime. So Jared Verse,
he hit the quarterback Jaden and Daniels and it was
initially ruled a fumble, but they went and reviewed it

(20:17):
to see if it was an incomplete pass, which it
clearly was. Jeff and so on ABC. They kick it
to their rules expert. Right, it's this guy Bill Lemagne,
Yeah right, yeah, yeah, and who I love, who generally
does a great job. This was one of the low lights.

(20:37):
I would have to say again, they're reviewing if this
was an incomplete pass. Clearly was. This is what Lemagne
had to say about it. Check this out.

Speaker 3 (20:45):
They're gonna look and see if it was a forward
pass or a fumble. To bring in Bill Lamagne to
see what he thinks about it. I see the hint
causing his arm to go down, not the quarterback Intesta
trying to go forward with the pass. I call stamps.
Do you think the ball was out of his hands
before he moved his arm forward? I have I have
a fumble, he's.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
Still the ball.

Speaker 3 (21:11):
You can have an argument on that, but I say
his arms coming down and forward because of the hint,
not because of his throwing action. What wait, but that's
not a thing though, it's not They don't rule that
whether or not the the the arm is going forward
because it was forced to go forward.

Speaker 2 (21:28):
It's like whether we have the ball or not? And right,
did you was it knocked out of your hand and
it's a fumble? Or did you throw the ball forward?
What are we doing here? He's the rules expert, Jeff.

Speaker 3 (21:40):
That's a that's a pretty wow. Yeah, that that's not
the rule is not whether or not he was forced
his arm was forced thrower forward. Was whether or not
it was forward?

Speaker 2 (21:49):
Yes, And this was the official clearing things up.

Speaker 1 (21:53):
Please, quarterback's hand was going forward before losing possession.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
It's an income.

Speaker 3 (22:01):
Yeah, yeah it was. Yeah, it was very clearly a
forward pass. Again and yeah, Bill's right, I mean the
arm was forced throward forward by the by the the
the power a verse. But like, that's not the that's
not the rule. It doesn't matter.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
I can't believe what I was hearing. I was sitting there,
like what the hell is Bill talking about here? But
like he's normally on top of it. That was I
don't know what that was. It was a brain freeze
or something. And it's funny because it was. It was
like respectful disagreement. Because Chris Fowler, you heard it there,
He's like, huh because it it kind of looks like

(22:38):
a forward pass to me. Whatever Bill, Bill missed that one.
It's okay, wow, yeah.

Speaker 3 (22:44):
That's not I've been doing this for a long time.

Speaker 5 (22:47):
Man.

Speaker 3 (22:48):
We have we have a a referee expert in the booth.
Sometimes we have a kicking expert in the booth. We're
an off it's a line expert in the booth. Like
there you go, all right, they allowed to sack. Let's
go to Schwartz. What happened here? Like thirty seconds, Man,
give me thirty seconds to show what happened. There we go.

Speaker 2 (23:08):
Okay, I would love that. It's a good idea, right,
I think that's fine. Yeah, let's get uh an expert
in the pits. You're right, we've got the rules expert.
What other experts do we need? Just offensive line or
anything else that's lacking. No offensive line, just a line?
Do what I think most of your breakdowns would be
like just.

Speaker 3 (23:28):
Rush the passer. Yeah, I mean, if you've seen my videos, buddy,
it'll be like one of those. I need about seven
minutes and we'll make it happen. You have schwartz a shorts.
We've had four plays so far. Can you wrap it up? Please?

Speaker 2 (23:40):
Right? Right? Exactly, that's right. It's like, even though it's
just TV and they can see what's happening, we don't
want it to begin like the second half where the
Norvel taped interview is going on and Florida States scoring
a touchdown, Like that's not what we want.

Speaker 3 (23:55):
Tape interview. Those interviews are just so so not worth it. Yeah,
I don't want to I don't want to lose. I
don't want someone to take away jobs. Like I'm not
rooting for sign reporters and not have a job. But like,
what are we doing some of those.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
Hey, we've got Eddie Garcia with us, our main man
here to spin us around the sporting landscape. Eddie. How
are things going?

Speaker 4 (24:19):
Man?

Speaker 2 (24:20):
Everything good?

Speaker 1 (24:21):
Do it good?

Speaker 7 (24:22):
My school got paid one point five million to go
beat a big ten school on the road.

Speaker 2 (24:28):
So nice win, it was nice. It was nice win.
Fresno State taken down Purdue. I couldn't see it. It
was on Big ten network. I couldn't. I wanted to
see that game, Eddie, and I couldn't.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
Well, it was opposite Colorado TCU. So yeah, even if
you wanted to see it was a decent old Jeff
Tedford sixty five years old, still get a yeah, not bad.

Speaker 7 (24:47):
I got a transfer quarterback from UCF, mikey Keen. He
looked great in his h his first start, So God
blessed the portal. I guess, so there we go here
it is. Yeah, speaking of college football.

Speaker 3 (24:59):
Is obviously you guys were talking about.

Speaker 7 (25:01):
We had the only battle of ranked teams in Week
one and a top ten matchup, but that number eight
Flourid to State number five LSU. The Seminoles were down
three at the half, but then outscored the Tigers thirty
two to seven in the second half for a forty
five to twenty four victory. Jordan Travis, the quarterback for
Florida State, three hundred and forty two yards, passing five touchdowns,
four through the air end one on the ground. He

(25:23):
had eighteenth ranked Oregon State rolling at San Jose State
forty two to seventeen Beavers quarterback dj Unglade five touchdowns,
three passing and two rushing in his debut. Of course,
the transferred Clemson, playing his first game for his new school,
Oregon State. We had a big ten and season opener
for Rutgers in Northwestern Scarlett Knights with a twenty four
to seven win over the Wildcats. Baseball games of notes, Jeff,

(25:45):
your Giants were shut out by the Padres four nothing.
They dropped three to four against San Diego. Tamabacks lose
to the Orioles eight to five. Baltimore still leading to
Al East by two and a half on Tampa Bay.
The Rays did beat the Guardian sixty two. He had
the Reds getting clobbered by the Cubs fifteen to seven
in Chicago, seven runs in the eighth inning e and
a half, three hits, four RBI for Chicago. They're three
and a half back in Milwaukee and the Anal Central

(26:06):
Brewers did lose to the Phillies four to two, and
the Marlins wrap up a four game series sweeping the
Nationals with a six to four wins. So you've got
a four way tie for the final wildcard spot in
the National League between Miami, San Francisco Arizona and Cincinnati
Mariners lose to the Mets six to three. Pied Alonzo
a couple of homers given him forty on the season.
He's driven on one hundred runs as well. In a

(26:27):
dreadful season for New York, the Astros swept at home
in a three game series by the struggling Yankees six
to won the final. On Sunday, you had the Rangers
walk off with a six to five win over the Twins.
Onalas Garcia solo homer in the ninth wins at Texas,
now tied with Houston, both one game back of Seattle
for first in the AL West. Blue Jays beat the
Rockies seven to five Toronto, game and a half out

(26:47):
of that final wildcard spot in the American League, and
the Dodgers avoid a sweep at the hands of the
Braves three to one. They win the finale in that
four game series. Tennis f US opened fourth round action
when is number one seed Ingo Suantec upset in three
sets by Yelena Ostapinco American Coco Golf beat Caroline was Niaki,

(27:07):
who was making a comeback three set win for Coco.
On the men's side, no bad. Djokovic advanced, as did
three Americans Taylor Fritz, Francis Tiaffo and Ben Shelton. Now
back to Jeff Schwartz and Brian O Thetirack dot Com,
Fox Sports Radio Studios.

Speaker 2 (27:22):
Thank you, Eddie. Yeah, I feel a little bad for
baseball and some of these other sports where these races
are great as that he laid out the NL wild
card race, he got four teams deadlocked for the last spot.
What's going on in the Al West? That divisional race
is really good? And then it's like, oh, football's here.
A lot of people just checked out, you know, a

(27:44):
month left in.

Speaker 3 (27:45):
The season too. It's not like it's like a little
like a week left, a month left in the season. Yeah,
where did my giants have no superstars and are starting
to stink? It's where do that works? It's all having good,
good players is important to winning and losing.

Speaker 2 (27:57):
What's the Brandon Crawford like, his average is brutal this season.

Speaker 3 (28:02):
You know, it's like thirty eight years old.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
It's fine, but we got to get over two hundred Crawford? Goodness,
what's going on here?

Speaker 3 (28:11):
Last year? I think he hit two years ago. They
went to the playoffs, he hit like three to ten
the ym his Giant extension. I'm like, he's thirty eight
years old. Why were we geting him the Giants like
he had like a one off season. I think I
don't think he won the first World Series. There's only
I think three or four Giants that none of them
are left that won all three Worlds. Here he won
because Egar rent Aria was playing the shortstop in twenty

(28:32):
ten for the Giants. So yeah, yeah, they yeah shocking.
They have like one decent player that someone would trade
for Logan Web and otherwise that's it and they stink
it's weird that works.

Speaker 2 (28:43):
By the way, I just thought for a second about
Edgar rent Area, former cardinal. Yeah, that's the team I
rooted for. He made the final out against the Red
Sox in what was it, oh four to break the streak,
and it was this whole thing where rent Torea where
war number three and that was Babe Ruth's number. And
of course it was the Curse of the Bambino with

(29:05):
the Red Sox and all that stuff. But I bring
that up because renter Rio was well traveled. He played
for a handful of teams. You know what, I suck
at immaculate grid. Are you into this, Jeff, I am awful.
I can't keep it straight. Who played for who?

Speaker 5 (29:19):
Ye?

Speaker 2 (29:19):
Who's the receiver that played for the Patriots and the
I don't know the rams and I'm like, I don't know.
I'm not good at that game, not very good at all.

Speaker 3 (29:28):
So I get typically seven out of nine, I've gotten
one nine for nine, I probably played ten of them.
I gotten one perfect one. I've used myself twice for
that as well. So that's that's been fun for four teams.

Speaker 2 (29:42):
What do they call it? Because you want the low percentage?

Speaker 3 (29:45):
Oh, it was like easily like it was zero point
one percentage. Yeah, yeah it was someone yesterday was at
the at Organ's practice on Friday and someone said they
showed me a picture that he used me for like
for one as well. It's pretty fun for a look
at Chiefs and Giants crossover. So no, I just I

(30:07):
go to try to find offensive lineman. Like that's the
way I look at it, like, I just who played who?

Speaker 2 (30:11):
There you go.

Speaker 3 (30:12):
I'm always good at the stat ones like who you know?
Even the baseball one like you know who has three
thousand hits? For certain teams listen is only like, you know,
forty guys three thousand hits. Pretty that's that I feel
like a little easier. Yeah, immaculate grid not it's fun though,
it's fun.

Speaker 5 (30:27):
To do it.

Speaker 2 (30:28):
It's fun. I'm way better at especially NFL teams, like
knowing what college those guys went to. If there was
some sort of immaculate grid. With that, I do just fine.
But to keep it straight with who played for who?
And I don't know why. My mind just doesn't connect
that way. The only I've only played it a couple
of times, and I'm like, screw this. I don't like

(30:50):
doing things I suck at. You know, But Jesse, look weird.
I can't tell you what. I finally can tell you
like me, you know what? You just treat me horribly.
I'm like, good, Finally Jeff Schwartz likes me.

Speaker 3 (31:07):
That's right.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
That's the way it goes.

Speaker 3 (31:09):
Walked you walked in that one, buddy.

Speaker 2 (31:10):
I appreciate that. No, it's fine. But Jesse Sepoulu remember
him with the forty nine ers, Yes, notably he comes.
He was one of my percentage ones. He was like
a point three or something. I'm like, yeah, baby, all right,
Like I was happy about that.

Speaker 3 (31:24):
One can't mastermindst the offensive line something that we do
in the summer two years ago. It was great to
hear from him. Yeah, I just try to go off
its alignment that I that I know and make it
work that way we should play We should play it today.
It is there a new one up yet today? I'm
sure there has to be.

Speaker 2 (31:41):
I don't know what we do because it's labor day.

Speaker 3 (31:43):
If they're like asscrew, nowink, it's I think it's computer processed.
I think fine. Right, there's also two of them. There's
like a Pro Football Reference one and there's another one,
so they differ. Here's where I okay, thousand yard rushing
seasons so like Texas Packers and Panthers, like the Panthers.
One's easy because I was here and I did I

(32:05):
know who, Like you know, Dangel Williams had one, right,
Like I know that because I played for that season.

Speaker 2 (32:11):
Oh okay, I see, I got you.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
Yeah. Yeah, it's like it's easy, like you know, we
got a Panthers Bengals Panthers couch like there's we we
gotta fit this one out, man, we can do it.

Speaker 2 (32:19):
I feel like I feel okay, all right, so, uh.

Speaker 3 (32:21):
Gentle Panthers that played for the Bengals, I probably should
Panthers Bengals.

Speaker 2 (32:27):
Gosh, like I just immediately, I just draw a blank.

Speaker 3 (32:31):
I'm sure there and some time, Yeah, you think it through.

Speaker 2 (32:34):
What's disgusting is at the end it'll show you how
many players like Cowboys and Panthers who played for both
franch No, it won't be like that. It'll be like,
I don't know, like forty eight or something. You know,
but you're like forty eight, dudes. I couldn't come up
with one, and a couple of them are pretty obvious.

Speaker 3 (32:53):
Byron Bell point off. It's a line, So dude, you
gotta go off. It's a line.

Speaker 2 (32:59):
Man, the way to go, the way to go, that's
the key. Huh.

Speaker 3 (33:04):
I'm not gonna get that. I'm not going to get
the Texans Bengals crossover, the Texans Cowboys crossover. That's not
gonna happen.

Speaker 2 (33:10):
No cheating obviously involved over here, but no chance. No,
you know what, I'll keep immaculate grid open throughout the show,
and I honestly might come up with maybe one, maybe
tops two players who played for both franchises. I think
at that portion.

Speaker 3 (33:27):
Didn't Uh didn't the Panthers just sign a safety from
the Bengals this offseason?

Speaker 5 (33:37):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (33:38):
What was it? Uh, Jesse Bates that you go over there?
Where did Jesse go?

Speaker 1 (33:42):
No?

Speaker 3 (33:43):
I think that's not they someone, but yeah, it's yeah,
it's a fun game.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
Yeah, because they lost a couple of their safeties.

Speaker 3 (33:50):
Yeah, I think they just signed one from the from
the Bengals.

Speaker 2 (33:53):
Yeah. Oh, von Bell, von.

Speaker 3 (33:55):
Bell is the guy there we go. Yeah. Yeah, so
we're making our way through. I've got we've got three
so far. Buddy.

Speaker 2 (34:02):
You know what I always do is I come up
with it wasn't though, so we're all wrong. No, well,
it should be Von Bell played for the Bengals. He's
should be playing for the Panthers this year. So that
that's wrong.

Speaker 3 (34:16):
I think that's wrong. Do we choose the wrong safety?

Speaker 1 (34:19):
No?

Speaker 3 (34:19):
Oh, I've spelled Von Bell with one n that that
needs to be No. No, No, they didn't count them
on the on the Panthers. That's weird.

Speaker 2 (34:32):
That's he's yeah, that's that should be a thing because
it's happened before where it's like this offseason some team
picked somebody up and I'm.

Speaker 3 (34:39):
Like that that's that's incorrect. Then we should get that point.
It says you're reminders players acquired the offseason won't qualify
for the new teams that they have appeared in ra garbage.
That's wrong. I'm counting as a correct one.

Speaker 2 (34:52):
Yeah, that's that's not cool right there at all, my
immaculate grid. Yeah all right, Well we'll keep this going
throughout the show. Fun as we just fail miserably or
I always come up with something to like. I'll be like, oh, yeah,
I know a Bengal and a cowboy, and it's like,
that's not what they're asking. They're actually asking for something else,
you know what I mean, where the teams are side
by side and it's like, oh, shoot, it's the grid,

(35:14):
I got it. My bad? Yeah, not good.

Speaker 3 (35:16):
It's a thousand yard Russia For the.

Speaker 2 (35:18):
Texans, Gosh, we have to be able to come up
with a couple do we do off the top of
my head? Let's see, let's we gotta be able to
think of a couple. Uh, let's see.

Speaker 3 (35:33):
Hmmm that for that, I originally exactly right. The Texans,
who who uh Damian Pierce was on his way last
year didn't do it.

Speaker 2 (35:42):
He was close, but not quite he'll I think he'll
get there this year. Can we project that he'll get
there this year?

Speaker 3 (35:48):
I had a wager last year of any Texans running
back to rush for like, I think the thousand yards
nine hundred yards. It was like plus seven hundred and
Pierce was, you know, ten yards away from paying that
number until he got hurt with four games left.

Speaker 1 (36:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (36:02):
I'm trying to think of because they made the playoffs
a couple of times in the JJ Watt years, did
they not have who was their main guy at the time?

Speaker 3 (36:11):
Exactly? It's one of these things.

Speaker 2 (36:12):
Hard Wow, I'll have to think more on that. Goodness
all right, Coming up next, this is a sucker bet. Beware.
Brian no and Jeff Schwartz with you. We're in for

Speaker 2 (37:40):
Uh, Brian, No, he's Jeff Schwartz here on Fox Sports
Radio in for two pros and a cup of Joe
here on a labor day. So I think this is
a sucker bet here, Jeff. If you look at the
Heisman ods right now, listen outstanding performance by Colorado beating TCU,
Shadur San, Travis Hunter. I'm getting Jordan Travis and Travis

(38:05):
Hunter mixed up because we saw Florida State last night.
But Travis Hunter the two way player at Colorado, so
his opening odds were eighty to one to win the Heisman.
Twenty two to one right now. That's at Caesar's. Also,
Shaduur Sanders one hundred to one before the season dropped
all the way to twenty eight to one. Now at

(38:26):
bet MGM, they're both fifty to one. It's gonna vary
from shop to shop, but at Caesar's that's what it's
dropped two twenty eight to one for Sanders, twenty two
to one for Travis Hunter. Jeff Colorado's not gonna win
enough games. I feel I feel like Dion is almost
pointing this question at us or me specifically when he
said this, do you believe? And it's like, no, I

(38:49):
have to sheepishly look at the floor in terms of
either Sanders or Travis Hunter winning the Heisman, not being
in the conversation, not being in the mixin the thing.
That's what you're hoping for if you're betting on them.
I think that's a sucker bet man. They're just not
gonna win enough games as a team to win the Heisman.

Speaker 3 (39:09):
No, they're not the PAC twelve this weekend was twelve
and zero in play. They know, one of those, I
think only one of those games where they the underdog,
that was the Colorado game. Otherwise they were short favorites,
you know, Stanford three points over Hawaii or big favorites,
and they won pretty convincing. I mean, the average marginal

(39:30):
victory is near thirty. And it's a very good conference
this season. And Colorado again allowed a lot of points
to TCU. They're gonna allow a lot of points to
organ in USC too, right, I mean, like you so
you have to be able to to really you know,

(39:51):
to play a little bit of defense to make that happen.
And again, you're in a conference where Michael Pennex threw
for nearly four hundred yards as well. You're conference with
Kleb William. You're probably not going to win back to
back Heisman's, but you never know, and it's gonna be
It's just difficult to think to think that's going to happen.
And so I'm curious to see you know, them playing

(40:12):
the Braska this weekend. But yeah, he's not They're not
winning the Heisman. I think it's fair to say that
Travis Hunter, though, might be the most talent of all
player in the country. I mean that he played one
hundred and forty four snaps.

Speaker 2 (40:27):
I think that was I think it was one twenty nine.

Speaker 3 (40:29):
But in the Bay they readjusted it because of.

Speaker 2 (40:33):
Like special teams or what special teams, and.

Speaker 3 (40:35):
Also the penalties plays that were there were, so play
yeah right here, I have it right here. Sam Munson
of Pro Football Focus put that put him down as
one hundred and forty five snaps.

Speaker 1 (40:45):
Good.

Speaker 3 (40:47):
Yeah, he can't keep that pace up all season, so
there's at some point he's not gonna play many snaps
and what becomes of their team when he plays less snaps? Right?
So yeah, I think that it's uh, it's unlikely to
continue in that direction. But Travis Hunter, look, he said
he's the best, and he has certainly shown that he

(41:09):
deserves all the praise as one of the better players
in all college football.

Speaker 2 (41:13):
Absolutely, he was electric and to have what eleven catches
for over one hundred yards the interception right around the
five yard line, he was outstanding and what the number
two overall recruit in the twenty twenty two class, He's
no doubt an absolute baller. But we know how it
goes with the Heisman Trophy. You got to be on

(41:35):
a team that wins a bunch of games. That's how
it always goes. So and you mentioned it too, the
talent in that conference where just look at these quarterbacks.
Caleb Williams, like you said, Heisman winner from last year,
Michael Pendix Junior threw for four point fifty and five
touchdowns against Boise State. He's electric. You sprinkle in some

(41:56):
bow Nicks who there's a whole Heisman campaign with him,
and we'll see when Cam Rising comes back off to
torn acl But I mean, well, you have star quarterback
power in the same conference and those teams outside of
USC have better defenses that that doesn't spell Heisman for
a Colorado player.

Speaker 3 (42:14):
It's just no, it doesn't. And again, the thing we
have to do is, you know, we can't do the
overreaction stuff, right, Like we've understand that it was it
was one game. It was a fantastic game by Colorado,
like they deserve all the credit you ever throwed a team.
But it was one game in a week one and
we know remember

Speaker 2 (42:33):
That absolutely, Hey, coming up next, it might not be
a popular bet, but it could be the winning side
