You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Oh, we've got one final college football game in week one,
and we've got the very first NFL game in Week one,
and we've just got a couple of days in between.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
We'll get to both of those matchups.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
Hey, we're broadcasting live from the tyrack dot com studios.

should be all right, Jeff, So, we've got number nine
Clemson at Duke this evening, final game of Week one

(01:08):
in college football. Clemson favored by thirteen on the road.
They've got a new offensive coordinator Garrett Riley comes over,
So new look offense for Clemson. I'll tell you this, man,
I think Clemson has arrived. And it was because the
last season they went eleven and three.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
It was a down year.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
It was a disappointing season, but a lot of people
reacted like eleven and three was three and eleven, you
know what I mean. Like if you look at the losses,
they did get man handled by Notre Dame, but then
they lost by one point to South Carolina and they
lost the bowl game to Tennessee. And these non playoff
bowl games can get a little bit goofy with opt
outs and all that type of stuff. But even though

(01:53):
it was a down year for Clemson, man, we thought
it was the worst. We acted like it was five
hundred or worse as far as their record was. So
I'm curious what Clemson can do this year. They're trying
to retool, right, reload the whole thing. Lost some talent
from that defensive line. But Caid Klubnick, can he take

(02:13):
a big step forward with DJU being over there at
Oregon State right now? That's a question for them.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
Well, I gotta say, I mean, Dju looked really good
yesterday at Oregon State. I think it's the kind of
indictment on his level of play I think at times
for Clemson, But them deciding to go with Garrett Riley
to me, signaled that they were actually, you know, like

(02:40):
sort of understood, like, hey, we got to fix some
things on defense. I mean it's on offense, I should say.
And so I'm excited to see club nick in this
offense because if they can fix offensively, man, they're gonna
be good on defense again. So I'm not terribly concerned
about the defense. It's just offensively, if Garrett Riley can

(03:02):
be that guy man, and then they got a chance. Right,
It's pretty simple.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
It feels like, yeah, it really does. And how about Duke.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
We don't spend a whole lot of time talking about
Duke football, but nine and four Mike Elco first year,
they went from three to nine to nine and four,
and some people think Riley Leonard could be the third
quarterback taken in next year's NFL draft.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
I don't know how you feel about that.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
Michael Pennix junior was sensational against Boise State and put
up huge numbers last season. I know we're spending half
of our time talking about the twenty twenty four NFL Draft,
but as it relates more so to tonight's game, what
do you think about Riley Leonard over there for Duke?

Speaker 4 (03:45):
Yeah, I don't know much about Hell. I just there's
always a quarterback comes out of nowhere in the draft,
right and people have mentioned Ry Leonard is one of
those guys. I don't quite know that we'll see more
tonight against after he plays a really good clubs and defense.
But this is a great year to get quarterback if
you have a quarterback need team of the draft.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Yeah, you know, I'm just thinking of the prop bets
over here, Jeff. And even though I lost with LSU, gosh,
I hate even admitting that they're right there leading at
halftime and then it's like, oh gosh, they gave up
thirty one straight points here. But I did have Jaden
Daniels with his rushing total over I need to peek

(04:24):
at the rushing total for Riley Leonard. Obviously in college
football you got to keep it in mind where any
sack yardage counts against the quarterback's rushing total, which is
insane to me, but it does. Really, Yes, it makes
no sense at all, but Riley Leonard loves to run around,

(04:45):
and yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if he hits his
rushing total. Over I just need to verify exactly what
it is for you over.

Speaker 4 (04:53):
Here, Jeff. I I love how you wager like every game.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
What's that?

Speaker 4 (05:00):
I like how you wager like I have no wager
for tonight, Like I'm just gonna watch football. You mentioned
every game you've watched this weekend. All of them have
like I get some money in this one. I love it.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
No, not all the time.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
And our guy Crack, we do a countdown to kickoff
on Sunday mornings here on Fox because that's one of
cracks rules. He's like, just because the game's on TV,
you don't have to bet on it. It is true.
I don't bet on every game here, but I'm just
telling you Riley Leonard, it's at twenty nine and a
half his rushing yardage tonight, Jeff.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
That's like, that's really low.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
That's almost scaring me away low because he can motor man,
he can get around.

Speaker 4 (05:43):
He can I mean, I think if you're gonna think
that he's going to run because of the defensive pressure
and you end up with is that a reason why
he runs, but also to your point about a reason
why he might lose yardage because of the sac number.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
Yeah, the sack, Yeah, that that worries me a little bit.
That definitely worries me. But in terms of the rushing,
I'm just looking game by a game. So last year,
I mean there's a lot, you know, a bunch of
games sixty four, sixty six, fifty four, sixty one thirty
for one hundred and thirty yards against North Carolina, sixty

(06:23):
one ninety six forty eight, last game of the year,
sixty three.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
Like, that's a lot.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
He'll have a couple where he just doesn't run. But
I think based on that pass rush, he's gotta move
around some.

Speaker 4 (06:34):
He does. I love so much that you have like
already in your head a Riley lettered take for this
first game he's against Clemson.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
Yeah, I love it.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
Let's roll. You live in it. You live in a
state where this is allowed. I do not, So I
don't get like these cool props, no wager. That might
be part of it too. If I had cooler props
a wager on, I could probably you'll get down the
same as you you can for this.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Oh, man, it would absolutely fire you up. I know
it would.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
Brian Know and Jeff Schwartz with the Year on Fox
Sports Radio in for two pros and a cup of Joe.
How about week one of the NFL first game of
the year on Thursday night, Lions Chiefs break it down
for me, Jeff, what is going on with the Chiefs
being unwilling to pay Chris Jones when the Lions are
gonna want to run the ball like crazy? You think

(07:28):
Chris Jones is on the field for Week one here?

Speaker 4 (07:31):
Oh no, he's not playing Week one. Man, I this
is pretty fascinating, right, I would say that I did
not expect I did not expect this to last as long.
But look at the Chiefs recent history of contracts. They're
not paying more than than they sort of value. You know,

(07:56):
Tyreek Hill, all right, we'll give you this and that's it. Brown,
We're giving you this and that's it. And with Chris Jones,
they're like, look, man, we're not paying Aaron Donald money.
But they also know that they had the leverage right
because if Chris Jones doesn't come back by week eight,
he loses a year of free agency. And this basically
is his contract is told over the next year, so

(08:17):
they know they have the advantage there with him. He
has to be back at some point this season, and
they could just say, look, man, we have Patrick Mahomes,
We've drafted on defense. Hopefully our young guys play well,
and we'll just see a week eight and by that
point he will have lost I think nearly seven million
in salary plus two million in fines for training camp.

(08:37):
Who lost nine million dollars. I mean it's a lot
of money, man, Yeah, And I think the Chiefs are saying, yeah, like, okay,
we are our number one asset is making sure we
have enough players around Patrick Mahomes. We love you, Chris Jones,
but that's what we're doing. Yeah. So I think that
that is that's their plan, and they're going to stick

(08:58):
to it because that's what the chief have seemingly found
out that works for them. The thing that I find
interesting about this is not the money part of it.
It's the locker room part of this. Did you hear
Travis Kelcey on his podcast last week? I did, Yeah, yeah,
And I think his point so Travis Kelseys, who missed it,

(09:18):
was like, bro, like please come back. We want to
win championships. Travis Kelcey has made it very clear that
he's taken less money to win championships, and he asked TJ.
Hawkinson gets paid more than him now right. We see
that Patrick Mahomes, we know is getting is underpaid for

(09:39):
what he's worth. And so you keep having these players
take less money to win championships. Look at Chris Jones.
I think he's made eighty million dollars. Say hey, buddy,
like we're all taking less. You know, the Chiefs are
going to pay you. It's not Aaron Donald money. Can
you take less too and kind of be part of

(09:59):
this of this, you know, trying to win a third championship. Yeah,
And I understand Chris Jones saying no, he wants to
get what he wants to be paid. And this will
all work out in the end if he comes back
and they win a championship and or they play really
well with you know, when he comes back. But I
think players in the locker room are probably pretty frustrated
with it because I think they feel like, again, he

(10:22):
should be there to help them win, like they're there
to win as well.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
No, I hear you, man, It's a smart take by
you because Mahomes has said the right things publicly, and
that might be how he honestly feels. But if we're
talking about leaving money on the table, Mahomes has left
a ton of money on the table. He could command
absolute top dollar and he hasn't done that. Then you
mentioned it too. There was an article this offseason. I

(10:51):
forget what it might have been GQ. I can't remember
who did the interview with Travis Kelcey, but he's talking about, Yeah,
my agent's always in my I hear about I could
be making way more money than I can, but he's like,
I want to win. And it's not to say that
Chris Jones doesn't want to win. He might just want
to get paid on top of winning as well. But
you're right, when you've sacrificed and a big part of

(11:17):
your core, a big part of your quest to win
another championship back to back, here is Chris Jones.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
And if he's unwilling to do that, I.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
Can see both sides of that coin where Chris Jones
is saying I'm worth this, Why am I going to
settle for less? And then Mahomes and Kelsey could easily
look and say, well, because we have we're worth more also,
and we've not commanded top dollars, so what's up with that?

Speaker 2 (11:43):
It could be, It could and I don't think.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
It will be, but it it's at least the ingredients
to be a thing, and very curious to see how
it plays out. How do you think about the win
totals here for both teams? If you look at the
Chiefs there at eleven and a half Lions at night
and a half, which way are you going season win
total for each team there?

Speaker 4 (12:05):
I mean I didn't wager on the Chiefs, might bet
the over. I mean they win twelve games most years,
right at least twelve games? Should say, there's years they
have more and less, So I would go go over
there way during these think about the You know, the
Lions is like everyone's darling this offseason. I know how

(12:26):
many Darlings end up winning as many games? Do you
think the interests? None of them? They never do.

Speaker 3 (12:33):
Yeah, they are them and the Jets are probably the
trendiest teams this season right going into the year. Anybody else,
I don't know that anybody's been more hyped up than
the Lions or Jets.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
Can you think of anybody?

Speaker 4 (12:50):
No, it's probably that's probably it.

Speaker 3 (12:52):
Yeah, and they're both at nine and a half, Lions
and Jets. The thing is what's interesting to me and
both is the AFC is so loaded and the NFC
is so not loaded. So it's like the devil shows
up on my shoulder, Like, who do you trust in
the NFC North? Who do you trust in the NFC collectively?

(13:15):
If you got the Eagles, the Niners and the Cowboys,
and then what what do you have If you don't
believe in the Vikings being a legitimate like thirteen and
four type team, If you don't believe in the Bears,
if you don't really love the Packers, well then why
not the Lions? You know, that little devil shows up.
And then with the Jets, I love Aaron Rodgers coupled

(13:37):
with a great defense, but that division is so difficult
and that conference is so difficult. I don't know that
they're getting to ten wins. That's tough.

Speaker 4 (13:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (13:51):
I don't know about you, but going into a season,
it seems like a lot of these teams you lean
over and it's like, bro, half of them going to
be losing, you know, half of them are going to
be under their season win total. It's harder to pinpoint
that is who is going under.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
Because yeah, you like I would, I would bet the
lines under, That's what I would do.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
It would take the end. Yeah, they just run it
back nine and eight type season. I want to know
how they handle higher expectations because that is a that's
a different tax bracket altogether, right there.

Speaker 4 (14:25):
Yeah, I mean that's part of a thing in college
football too. You have to like look at the expectations
of other team, right yeah. So yeah, I think it's yeah,
it it. I would go under. I don't Jared. Here's
the deal. So if they win like ten games this year,
let's tell you over, are they winning the division?

Speaker 2 (14:48):
Uh? Probably not. They'd be in the running, but I
would guess probably not.

Speaker 4 (14:56):
The best quarterback in every division typically. So if you're
betting the over anything the lines of women division, are
we saying that Jared Goff is gonna end up better
than Kirk Cousins the season, better than Jordan Love, better
than justin fields Like, that's the ways you're making obviously.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
Yeah, I mean Kirk puts up numbers. I know, we
like to clown on the guy, but he puts up numbers,
and I don't see that changing with Justin Jefferson being there,
So like the second half was tremendous for Jared Goff
and maybe he picks up where he left off. But yeah,

(15:33):
I mean, I don't When you put it like that,
that's a I think it's a better way to look
at it, because if you ask the average person, do
you feel more comfortable taking the Lions over the Vikings?

Speaker 2 (15:43):
I think a lot of people would.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
But do you feel comfortable taking Jared Goff over Kirk Cousins.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
I don't think as many people would.

Speaker 3 (15:49):
Yeah, correct, No, Yeah, yeah, that's a good way to
look at it, all right, come it up next. Only
the morons are naysayers when it comes to this Pacific situation.
That's on the way. I'm Brian Nough, He's Jeff Schwartz.

Speaker 3 (17:19):
I'm Brian, No, he's Jeff Schwartz here on Fox Sports Radio.
We're in for two bros in a cup of Joe,
So listen man. The story of the weekend. Jeff clearly
deon Sanders winning his debut with Colorado as they took
down TCU forty five to forty two, and I thought
a lot of this stuff after the game was hilarious.

(17:41):
I love what he was talking about Travis Hunter, who
what did you say? One hundred and forty five plays? Yeah,
that's insane. This is what Dion Sanders said about that
performance on the field after the game with Fox Sports's
Jenny Taft.

Speaker 8 (17:55):
I don't know how many snaps he played, but we're
gonna put a hot tub on the plane for him.

Speaker 4 (17:58):
Well, make sure he's strengthening.

Speaker 2 (18:01):
That's tremendous. I love that.

Speaker 3 (18:03):
A lot of fun stuff from coach Prime. Now, this
was something that caught my attention.

Speaker 2 (18:08):
Jeff. Yeah, this is what he said about some of
the naysayers. Check this out.

Speaker 8 (18:12):
We do things that have never been done, and that
makes people uncomfortable. When you see a confident black man
sitting up, been talking his talk, walking his walk, coaching
seventy five percent afric Americas in the locker room.

Speaker 4 (18:23):
That's kind of threatening. Oh they don't like that. Well,
guess what.

Speaker 8 (18:27):
We gonna consistently do what we do because I'm here
and ain't going nowhere, and I'm about to get comfortable
in a minute.

Speaker 3 (18:34):
Okay, the way I think of this, there are some
morons out there that feel that way, But that's not everybody.
And I think that just if you're skeptical that Deon
Sanders is going to hit the ground running and win
Game one is a twenty one point underdog, or if
you're skeptical that Colorado is going to have a winning

(18:55):
record in year one, that doesn't make you, you know,
an automatic racist hater. Not everything is born because coach
Prime is outspoken and because he's.

Speaker 2 (19:08):
Black, you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (19:09):
Like, so, I just don't want it to be twisted
or taken that way as if any skeptic is just, oh,
I don't like this outspoken black guy with his swagger,
and that's not what coaching is supposed to be.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
Not everything is born from that.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
If you're skeptical about the Year one success or lack thereof,
well I.

Speaker 4 (19:31):
Know it's not for me. That's not why I think earlier,
I think seventy year football players, that's why I thought
they might have some trouble. Yeah, Look, Dion is allowed
to talk after a game like that where people like
myself and some other people just did not believe that

(19:53):
they would play this well in Game one. I thought
they had a chance to play well at some points
this season, I thought that this season to me really
set up for next season. And so to me I
give a pass the wrong word, saycause you didn't care
about my past. But the fact is, like when you
win the way he did, I feel like you're allowed
to do whatever you want. It doesn't matter if it

(20:14):
makes sense or not. Like you're allowed to talk your
talk because you you know that makes it. It's not
like it's not like you just you all the doubters,
all the haters. Man, we got it wrong. We were wrong,
and whoever you want to interpret that is is up
to you. At this you know, at this.

Speaker 3 (20:29):
Point, I think he's tremendous for college football. I think
he's so much fun and a master promoter. I mean,
that's the thing is you look at all these new players,
eighty seven new players, and to get some of the
guys to come over that he has and upgrade that

(20:50):
talent so much. Already they were one and eleven last year.
They got blown out by an average of twenty nine
points per game.

Speaker 2 (20:57):
Yeah, so it's insane.

Speaker 3 (20:59):
It's gone from that to even this one game in
and to see the top three players all make huge contributions.
Where you look at Shador Sanders five hundred and ten yards.
It's a school record already, Jeff, and you're in game one.
Four touchdowns, Travis Hunter was amazing. Dylan Edwards, who was

(21:20):
a Notre Dame commit. That hurts my heart being born
in South Bend, but four total touchdowns. He was electric
for Colorado. So for coach Prime to upgrade the talent
and then already to get the most out of it,
especially on the offense, that's a tremendous job.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
It's awesome.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
That's a Hollywood script right there where. Yeah, he's doing
the postgame interview with his son, like, Jeff, you've got
a kid, Like, imagine if in game one you win
and your son does what shaduor Sanders did, that's amazing.

Speaker 4 (21:53):
I know. And another time played well on defense. Yeah,
it's impressive. I mean, can you get to talk and
talk man?

Speaker 2 (22:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (22:02):
Yeah, and uh, I mean some of it doesn't make sense,
like I don't know, I don't know if he read
an article that rubbed him the wrong way or it's
just been.

Speaker 4 (22:13):
The obviously, I mean obviously edw Arder wrote something in it.

Speaker 3 (22:16):
Like yeah, but that's the thing is they got blown
out by twenty nine points per game.

Speaker 2 (22:22):
That's the freshest thing in your mind.

Speaker 3 (22:25):
And so I can understand where the skepticism comes from.
I just don't think it's born sheerly out of race,
that's all.

Speaker 4 (22:34):
No, it's it's not not for me. I imagine for
some sure, possibly, but obviously I think for a lot
of us it's it's just not that way. But again,
I when when you when you win, I sort of
forgive if you if you talk smack a little bit
and and you know, you kind of just like you

(22:56):
get to do that. That's that's what happens when you win.

Speaker 3 (22:59):
Hey man, I'll tell you one thing, and you're right.
And that might be part of it. Is Paton Ardoozy
from Pitt Brent Venables had some things to say from
Oklahoma where they're looking sideways at Coach Prime and the
way he's used the transfer portal, and there have been
many comments of that's not what it was intended for
and stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (23:20):
I don't know if it's part of that.

Speaker 3 (23:22):
It's kind of like a gumbo of negativity from the
off season and Coach Prime just got sick and tired
of it. Very well could be the case, but I've
never agreed with that. It's like, this is not illegal.
I don't care what the transfer portal was designed for.
What if he's not doing anything illegal? Like mind your business.

Speaker 4 (23:40):
So here's why I bother people because for some reason,
we still view college sports as this utopia student athletes
right of like there, it's the it's why we love
the sport. They're just competing for the herd and they're

(24:01):
competing for the fun of it, and we're just all
having fun out there and competition of sport, right and
we're not and you know, and everyone just loves playing
and they're doing it for the you know, the spirit.
And it's like, that's not what college sports has ever
been about. But sure we can believe the fantasy that
it is. Dion Sanders very loudly went against all that

(24:22):
by openly cutting players like it's the NFL. It's called
they call it processing in college football, processing players out.
And he did it again. He did it loudly. He
did it with a lot of you know of the
you know what we're coming right, like a lot of

(24:42):
just like the boisterous he the videos that were put out,
which I, by the way, love the hype videos like,
that's I think great for my job. I cover the
PAC twelve. Anything we can get from Dion is fantastic.
And I think people just resented how blick he made
that out to be, because again, it's mostly organ my ducks.

(25:06):
They're like fifty transfers man Like it was almost stated
at fifty transfers, that's just like what the sport is now.

Speaker 3 (25:15):
Yeah, I remember Venables in particular he was talking about
when he took over.

Speaker 2 (25:22):
He was not about just shipping guys off.

Speaker 3 (25:25):
And if he wants to do it that way, fine whatever,
But I look at this more of what offense you run.
You know, the air raid isn't for everybody. Yeah, if
you don't want to run the air raid, fine, you
don't have to. If you don't want to use the
transfer portal the way Dion Sanders did, that's fine, you
don't have to. But to look sideways at him, like
what is this guy doing shaking thing? That's garbage.

Speaker 4 (25:49):
I look. I think part of it as well, is,
especially on the coaching community, there is a lot of
resentment towards coaches that act like they have they deserve
more because but not because but but before they sort

(26:11):
of earn the right to talk about that, you know,
talk in the way that Dion has, right. And but
Dion is promoting his program, he's promoting himself like he's
doing the things that he has to do. And I'm
with him on this, to promote Colorado football. So his
job the job of a college coach. Obviously he's coaching,

(26:31):
but also it's talent acquisition, right, it's even the most
players you can get and as quick as possible. And
Dion is using every opportunity he has in front of
a camera to do that. He is a great showman, right,
He is great in front of the camera. And a
lot of coaches resent Dion Sanders getting the attention and

(26:52):
getting the hype and having praise before they believe he's
earned the right to do all those things. And a
lot of the stems from that feeling. And again I think,
to me, it's it's wrong because Dion, again he's doing
the things necessary for himself to help his team be
better at acquiring talent. I like that Dion is doing

(27:14):
those things right, but coaches don't view it that way.
Coaches view it as he is he's getting the hype
and attention before he has earned the right to have
the hype and the hype and attention, and that bothers coaches,
and that's just why we're seeing coaches push back on
Deon Sanders.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
Yeah, but even that, what you explained isn't a race thing,
you know. It's like that's a different category of They're
not saying, ah, this blackhead coach.

Speaker 2 (27:41):
They're saying what you just explained.

Speaker 3 (27:44):
Which is, man, this guy's getting a ton of attention
and this is before game one, And I think that
part can rub you the wrong way or the way
you're building a program differently. Like, listen, all these coaches
could have done it in the exact same way as
coach Brian, but.

Speaker 4 (27:59):
They are though they are, Or that's a that's so
frustrating about coaches complain about the portal. They're all doing.

Speaker 3 (28:06):
This, they all are, but not to the degree of
like eighty seven new players. They're not doing it sure
stream right, But.

Speaker 4 (28:13):
I mean, like I said, organ in fifty Oregon has
six players on the roster I believe left from Marrow Crystobal.

Speaker 3 (28:22):
You know, I like, listen, I would rather you give
me the truth, even if it's unwanted, than just you know,
giving me this bs sort of like, you know, I'd
rather coach Prime just come in and be like, listen,
we're getting new players, even if that's not what I
want to hear.

Speaker 4 (28:39):
You said that, though, Yeah, I know exactly what he
said he was gonna do, which was getting new which
is getting new players. Yeah, he did exactly what he said.

Speaker 3 (28:47):
That's that's right. Like he hasn't sugarcoated it. He's just
putting it right there in front of your face. I
can respect that. I absolutely can't.

Speaker 2 (28:55):
All right.

Speaker 3 (28:56):
Somebody else I can respect would be Eddie Garcia high
on the respect meter. I am still working on the
quarterback comp. I've got one guy in mind. That's that's
right around the corner here, Eddie.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
I hope you do all right.

Speaker 9 (29:09):
Well, ironically I might have the answer for both of
our questions, well the same person. Yeah, so I did.
I don't think this is cheating. I think it's just observing.
But I did see a commercial involving some NFL players, yeah,
and one ex NFL player, and I said, oh my god,

(29:32):
this guy has to be one of your first guests
for every one of the Immaculate Grids.

Speaker 2 (29:38):
Who is it?

Speaker 9 (29:39):
It's Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Speaker 2 (29:41):
Oh he might be, he might. We got one of those.
That's Texans Bengals for sure, right.

Speaker 4 (29:47):
He got Texans Bengals. I got Eric Winston for that one.
Lance Zerlins in that one over.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
That's a good one. Former head of the Players Association,
right theah. Yeah, so there you go.

Speaker 9 (29:59):
Fitz Magic is a guy you need to keep in
mind for any of your.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
I'm going to kill this Magic right now.

Speaker 4 (30:05):
Yeah, that's a great one. Eddie. I like that.

Speaker 9 (30:07):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I knew Bengals for sure, but I
had to check to see Houston and there was one
year with the Texans, so there.

Speaker 2 (30:13):
Yeah, yeah, he's there all right.

Speaker 9 (30:14):
College football number eight Florida State a winner over fifth
ranked LSU forty five to twenty four, the only battle
of ranked teams in Week one. LSU was up three
at a half. They're then outscored thirty two to seven
in the second half. Seminals quarterback Jordan Travis three hundred
and forty two yards passing five touchdowns, four through the air,
one on the ground in the victory. Eighteen ranked Oregon

(30:35):
State rolled over San Jose State forty two to seventeen.
Beavers quarterback DJ younglan a five touchdowns, three passing, two
rushing course the transfer from Clemson in his Oregon State
debut with the Big Game, Rutgers a winner over Northwestern
twenty four to seven. In baseball games of note, we
had the Giants being shut up with the Padres four nothing,
San Francisco dropping three of four in that series against

(30:55):
San Diego. Diamondbacks lose to the Orioles eight di I.
Baltimore still leads at least by two and a half
games on Tampa Bay, with the Rays keeping pace with
a six to two win over with the Guardians. The
Reds were collaborated by the Cubs fifteen to seven, Chicago
seven runs in the eighth inning as they moved three
and a half back of Milwaukee in the NL Central race.
The Brewers did lose to the Phillies four too, so

(31:16):
Chicago gaining ground. And then you got the Marlins trap
pip a four games sweep of the Nationals with a
six to four wins. So it's now a four way
tie for the one final wildcard spot in the Nation
League between Miami, San Francisco, Arizona and Cincinnati. Mariners lose
to the Mets six to three. The Astros fall to
the Yankees six to one, New York wrapping up a
three game sweep in Houston, and the Rangers getting Always

(31:38):
Garcia walk off homer in the Knights to beat the
Twins sixty five. So it's Texas titles Houston both one
game back of Seattle for first in the Al West.
Blue Jays beat the Rockies seven to five Toronto game
and a half back of both Houston and Texas for
the last wildcard spot in the American League, and the
Dodgers avoid being swept in a four game series against
the Braves. LA gets the three to one win in

(31:58):
a showdown on the top two teams in the National League.
And one note from soccer Lionel Messi to assists as
inter Miami beat the MLS defending champs LA FC three
to one in a Star studed figure here in Los Angeles,
Miami riding an eleven game on beaten streak. They've been
a little bit different since Messi had joined the team
ten to zero to one since adding the soccer legend.

(32:21):
Now back to Jeff Schwartz and Bryan Ownethetyrack dot Com,
Fox Sports Radio Studios.

Speaker 3 (32:25):
So this is what I'm thinking for your NFL quarterback
comp here Eddie.

Speaker 9 (32:29):
Yeah, Brian Fitzpatrick way too smart for me. So well,
I did not go to Harvard.

Speaker 4 (32:35):
What do you got?

Speaker 3 (32:36):
This is what I'm thinking. You guys, tell me if
you think this fits. I'm gonna go Jay Cutler for
a couple of reasons. Okay, Jay Cutler has tremendous ability,
which you have. He's got a lot of talent, which
you have. And a lot of times he didn't look
like he cared. And that's how you are with certain

(32:57):
subjects like the NBA. You're not a big NBA a
guy like every now and then, you just you don't
care about a particular topic.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
Is that fair? I think that's a decent.

Speaker 9 (33:06):
Don't you think Jay's surly? I don't know. Am I surly?

Speaker 1 (33:10):
No?

Speaker 3 (33:10):
I wouldn't describe you as surly? All right, Well, but Jay,
he's softened a little bit since his NFL days. He's
got a podcast, He's cracked a few jokes, you know
what I mean.

Speaker 9 (33:21):
My wife used to watch that reality show is on
with his ex wife, and she's she always said he
was very funny.

Speaker 2 (33:25):
So see, what do you think?

Speaker 4 (33:27):
I would not have pictured? I would not have done
I don't think I would have gone Jake, what would you?

Speaker 2 (33:32):
What would your NFL quarterback? Don't you already?

Speaker 4 (33:35):
I didn't even I didn't think about one. I thought
you were handled. I thought you would have been better
than this.

Speaker 5 (33:40):
You know.

Speaker 2 (33:40):
I think that's a decent one. If you got to
come up with the reason.

Speaker 9 (33:44):
If only Ryan Fitzpatrick was a little dumber, could have
been a decent choice for me.

Speaker 2 (33:50):
Have you had a lot of radio stops? Have you
been like a journeyman like that?

Speaker 9 (33:54):
Actually?

Speaker 4 (33:55):
Really no, I haven't really.

Speaker 9 (33:56):
Yeah, so I don't know, been here for a long time.

Speaker 4 (34:00):
That's been somewhere a long time.

Speaker 9 (34:02):
Key, we'll work on.

Speaker 3 (34:03):
It, all right, Yeah, I'm efforting this. We're gonna come
up with somebody. I don't think Jake Cutler is terrible.

Speaker 2 (34:10):
This is what I'll tell you. I don't think that Schwartz.
I want to cop from you, Okay. It's easy to.
