(01:16):
we're getting ready to start the season opener in the NFL,
it may be the debut opening weekend of one Caleb Williams,
who is projected to be the number one pick in
the NFL draft out of USC. He's the favorite to
win the Heisman for a second consecutive year.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
He's got all the goods.
Speaker 4 (01:34):
Everybody's looking at him like he's a Trevor Lawrence or
you know, Andrew Luck, like that sort of ilk that
he keeps and keeps company with as he gets ready
for his NFL career. But him and his father did
a lengthy interview with GQ, a sit down. Very interesting
pictures of Caleb Williams as well too, very stylish. A
lot of stuff in that GQ article that was, you know,
(01:58):
the painted nails, all that stuff. And his father brought
up something that I thought was interesting. I wanted to
get your guys' thoughts on because you guys would have
direct knowledge of this in your time in the NFL.
He said, quote The funky thing about the NFL draft
process is Caleb would almost be better off not being
drafted than being drafted first. The system is completely backwards.
(02:21):
The way the system is constructed, you go to the
worst possible situation, the worst possible team, the worst organization
in the league, because of their desire for parody, gets
the first pick. So it's the gift and the curse.
I mean, I've talked to Archie Manning. His career was
shot because he went to a horrible organization. I've talked
to Lincoln Riley and Kyler Murray. They struggled because of
(02:41):
where he was drafted. Baker Mayfield struggled mightily because of
where he was drafted. The organizations mattered. They asked him,
would you consider not sending Caleb to the NFL if
he was in a bad situation, potentially with a team
picking number one overall, And he talked about it being quote,
it's got two shots of the apple, so there's not
(03:03):
a good situation. The truth is he can come back
to school end quote.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
Is he wrong?
Speaker 5 (03:10):
No, he's not wrong.
Speaker 6 (03:12):
And Caleb Williams happens to be that type of player
who's in the position now with nil to truly be
able to come back to school. And yes, he'll take
a hit because he won't be making that life changing
money like you'll make as the first overall pick of
(03:32):
an NFL draft, But he can still make millions, and
he probably will if he comes back, make millions. Here's
the crazy thing about the draft process, because his dad
is really ultimately speaking for Caleb. I'm sure Caleb feels
this way, but you know, you know, if he says it,
(03:53):
he gets a bad rep.
Speaker 5 (03:55):
But if his dad says it, it's just a.
Speaker 6 (03:56):
Dad who's talking in a very common sense, logical man
and pointing something out that not many people have addressed.
So here's my issue with the draft process. It serves
only the league. And this is what doesn't make any
sense about it to me, because it's designed and created
for parity. So the worst team in the league gets
(04:20):
the first overall pick. So if you want, you can
tank and you can get Caleb Williams and then you
can turn things immediately around. Well you'd hope that'd be
the case, right if you've got an owner who knows
what he's doing, If you have an owner who wants
to put resources and assets into that franchise to make
it competitive, that's a big if. And so because the
(04:41):
draft process is really set up for parity of the league,
to make the league competitive. It really doesn't have the
best interest of the player at mind, which up until
this point in time in your life as a football player,
you have always had a choice of where you go.
Speaker 5 (04:58):
You could choose where you.
Speaker 6 (05:00):
Want to go to play high school football, you could
choose where you want to go to play college football.
And then all of a sudden you get thrown into
a draft process that really serves parody amongst the league.
And I'm going to go a step further and say this,
and this might get me in trouble.
Speaker 5 (05:17):
The way the.
Speaker 6 (05:18):
Draft process is set up, and really the league in general,
it's set up to allow bad ownership.
Speaker 5 (05:24):
To continue to exist.
Speaker 6 (05:26):
And you want to know why, because it protects those
bad owners by rewarding them for being cheap and being
crappy at being able to manage an organization by giving
them some of the top town of players coming out
of college football or the chance the least to draft them, right.
And that to me doesn't make any flipping sense. If
(05:50):
I was Jerry Jones, if I was any other one
of the biggest owners you want to talk about in
the league, I would say we should be having a
snake draft.
Speaker 5 (06:00):
This shouldn't be a reward for poor performance the year before,
because here's the reality of it.
Speaker 6 (06:08):
We have a process now designed where we're trying to
create parody through the draft, and we still don't have parity.
Bad organizations are still bad organizations. Like this year, I've
got a lot of optimism and hope for the Brows
because they finally build up this roster and they have
all these pieces. You're hoping that they're gonna make it.
And if they don't, they're probably gonna change their head coach.
(06:30):
There's probably someone who's going to take the fall for it.
Right And I'm not saying Jimmy Haslm's a bad owner.
He hasn't owned the team that long. But when I
got there, they didn't.
Speaker 5 (06:40):
They weren't.
Speaker 6 (06:40):
They didn't know what they were doing as far as
ownership standpoint, and that wasn't a fault. You know that
that team was inherited, you know by you know, mister Learner.
And and a lot of times it's tough because when
your dad does something and you try to run the
company after him, and you try to run an organization
after him, it's hard to do it. Like he did it,
and it's hard to be able to have as much
passion for it the way he did. So the reality
(07:03):
is the draft process allows bad ownership to really maintain
because this league is so lucrative, but because it also
helps to create more parity if you look at the
English Premier League, which I think as we see college
football start to take shape, you start to realize it's
a much better process. Like a snake draft, which is
(07:24):
a randomly assorted draft, which.
Speaker 5 (07:27):
Is honestly what you should push for.
Speaker 6 (07:29):
So in one round, right, it would just be randomly
assorted and we don't know who gets the pick, but
whoever gets it, they get that pick, and then it
would go in the reverse order for the next round. Yeah,
and then it keeps going kind of back and forth
with the way you go about drafting, and you would
hope that you'd want it completely random so that you
couldn't scheme your way into stinking for a year to
(07:49):
then get the number one overall pick. That's why the
NBA is draft lottery. So I just I think this
is a It's awesome that Caleb's dad's brought this up
to bring attention to it, because it's it's one thing
that in my opinion, it's designed to help keep parody
within the league. And if we're being honest with ourselves,
there's eight, maybe ten teams that can win a Super
(08:09):
Bowl this year that we point to and you might say, well, hey,
they got those guys via the draft.
Speaker 5 (08:14):
But if you're talking about like, for example, the Kansaity Chiefs.
Speaker 6 (08:18):
Patrick Maubmes was the number overall pick, there was mixed
reviews on that. It happen to be the chief Salo
ones that took the chance to take them. Same thing
with the Buffalo Bills taking Josh Allen. So like as
much as people want to talk about like, you know,
oh it helps this or it got you know, the
Bengals Joe Burrow. Yeah, in the case of Joe Burrow,
it did, but there's other instances where that wasn't the case.
(08:38):
And it's because good organizations know what they're doing, how
to evie talent, how to how to pick certain players
then surround them with talent and the right pieces.
Speaker 5 (08:45):
And even with the way the draft is set up,
we still don't have parody in the league.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
You've seen so many careers go to the wasteland because
of this conversation, and it's always just one of those things.
It is a blessing and a curse. But in the end,
it's the reality too. The reality is is that yours
have to.
Speaker 5 (09:06):
Be the reality, though it doesn't chooses to be this way.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
That's what it is, I mean it that is. The
reality is that they've chosen to do it this way.
I mean, it's it's just interesting. You get to choose
all the way up until you go pro. Like, you
get to deliberate, you know, weigh it out, measure it this.
This could be a great place to live, This could
be a great place to get educated. This is along
(09:34):
the lines of what my belief systems represent, whatever foundational
components of character, so on and so forth.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
But when you go pro, if you're good, you don't
get to choose.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
But it's interesting when you think about the fact that
you want to be chosen, you want to do well
enough to be chosen. Like it's not very often where
guys like up, I'm hitting for being a number one,
number two, number three, number four draft pick. I don't
want to go to any of those teams. Like, of course,
you don't want to go to a bad team, But
(10:09):
at the same time, you want to be the number
one overall pick, you want to be a top five pick,
you want to be a top ten pick. In the end,
you're getting a job that's going to pay you a
ton of money, and your draft position has a lot
to do with your ability to create financial stability. So
I think, I guess it all comes down to what
(10:30):
the priorities of how you feel heading into doing what
you do at the college level so well that you're
heading towards the distinction of being one of those type
of top prospects, because I.
Speaker 6 (10:43):
Could still be one of those top prospects, though in
a different way of sorting out the draft.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
Yeah, yeah, I mean listen, and I know Caleb's dad.
He's a businessman. I mean, he's a pretty dope dude.
When you raise these types of topics, it sometimes it
can become a tat bit.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
Offensive to people.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
It can it could come off across as maybe he's
too involved, Like wouldn't you know the question was are
you going to let him play? Well, Caleb's a grown
ass man, so I don't know that it's a matter
of what you're going to let him do. Now, if
you're advising him and you know you guys are talking
it through. That's different. I mean, I ain't really care
for the wording of it, but I mean Archie, he
(11:27):
brought up Archie Manning in the conversation. Archie didn't allow
he didn't allow Eli to go to the Chargers.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
He didn't, you know. I mean, it is the number
one pick.
Speaker 6 (11:38):
That's probably the only he was probably the only family
I would say only, but one of the only that.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
Would be able to get away with it.
Speaker 5 (11:48):
Sure.
Speaker 6 (11:48):
Yeah, And because you also have to have someone who's
financially affluent enough to be able to say, hey, we're
willing to sit out another year and then and then
revisit this a year from now and and deal with
that right. Like, there's not a lot of players families
who are in that position in the first place, who
have who could have that sort of leverage, or who
know the NFL and the league circles like that. So
(12:13):
it's all I'm saying is, if you did a completely
randomized draft, what you're saying is still true. The top
players would still go in those top spots for the
most part. I mean, maybe there's a team that ends
up getting the number one overall pick that doesn't need it,
and now you've got another team that needs to trade.
Speaker 5 (12:31):
Draft picks in order to do so.
Speaker 6 (12:33):
But what I'm trying to point out is it's not
set up to be able to help bring along the
bottom tier teams are bad ownership, and instead it's gonna
always you know, it's just it's it's only going to
provide the opportunity to give everyone an opportunity or a
chance at getting some of the top talented players. Which
(12:54):
if you think about it, like that's how you you'd
want it to be. Wanted to be equal. You want
to be slanted in so such a way for bad
ownership to help bring them along. Or do we want
it to be equal and fair amongst everyone? Isn't that
what everyone pushes for now?
Speaker 1 (13:08):
Like, think about if you went to I don't know,
during your time. Think about if you had went to
the Steelers and you begin to start quarterback at for
the Steelers.
Speaker 6 (13:17):
Well, and that's that's the hard thing that, like his
dad's touching on, is especially for quarterbacks, like first impressions
are everything, Like Baker end up because you mentioned Baker's
name in it, and Baker goes to the Browns and
he's the guy and he takes him to the playoffs
and they and they get a win versu. The Pittsburgh Steelers,
and then after that it's like they can't come to
a long term contract agreement. He plays banged up three year,
(13:39):
they don't have a great year. He's gone and now
he's trying to find himself throughout a league where he's
been to Carolina, he's been to La Rams. Now he's
in Tampa. And that's the unfortunate part is his talent
ability will always get him another opportunity. But everyone looks
at him. They're like, yeah, but you know the bus
why we can't sign him.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
Now you become you have to wear the title, the
scarlet letter of B on your chest because of being
great in college.
Speaker 6 (14:06):
And the reality is is like I don't know what
did or did not happen during this time there.
Speaker 5 (14:10):
Only he knows. The organization knows.
Speaker 6 (14:13):
I know from my time what it was like there,
and I know from my experience like getting to other
places where you're like, damn, it would have been nice
to be drafted here. Like the resources and the things
they put around rookies and the things they provide their
players and the way they go about handling and you know,
putting players in.
Speaker 5 (14:32):
It's entirely different.
Speaker 6 (14:34):
And you can see why they're a winning organization or
you can see why they're a championship organization because how
they go about addressing issues or facing adversity. They don't panic,
they don't make irrational decisions like they just they have
a process of doing it.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
That's the part. So I'm sorry, go ahead, no, No, you.
Speaker 5 (14:50):
See the difference between these different franchises, do you go? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (14:54):
Like, if we're being real about it, the difference of
separation between certain and other players, it's not as much
as people think on the outside. That's why any team
can beat any you know team on any given Sunday.
Like you always say that the betting lines kind of
get skewed sometimes because of that. But when you're in
the right situation to go flourish and go play and
all that, man, it plays a huge part in your
(15:16):
ability to be successful.
Speaker 5 (15:17):
And this isn't specific to football.
Speaker 6 (15:20):
I mean, imagine if you're the top top student coming
out of Mit and you go to a crappy organization,
is that really utilizing that kid's skill set?
Speaker 5 (15:28):
No?
Speaker 6 (15:29):
And he doesn't have to be drafted into that he's
going to get be able to go to a top
tier tech company where he can go excel and he
can go maybe start his own company one day and
all that where he can have that opportunity. It's like,
nowhere else in the world do we have a process
set up where you enter into employment where you go
to potentially the worst, one of the worst teams off
(15:49):
of how good you achieve this crazy, I'm at the
top of my class.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
Yeah, you're going to the worst company.
Speaker 4 (15:55):
Your reputation is tied to the bag of your bust
taken like, look like.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
How are you able to get such great grades in college?
My guy, you're a bust for us.
Speaker 4 (16:04):
Look at look at Look at Josh Rosen, top ten pick.
He got part of a season in Arizona and then
he was scapegoated out so many names with his head coach,
and you look back at his I don't even think
Josh Rosen's in the league right now. He's twenty six
years old, he got thirteen starts, he got no shot,
there was no opportunity for him, and we just look
(16:24):
at him and go, oh yeah, another guy that didn't work,
bust failure, his fault.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
And look out here's my you're gonna find me today.
Look at Washington. That's an that's an entire what twenty years,
twenty some years of just FFing up every single draft.
And even though you'll say, okay, a guy like Sean Taylor,
we got Sean out of it. You know, you got
(16:51):
a Chris Samuels out of it. And there's there's a
few times you'll say, all right, there's a few guys
that that you get that get drafted, and you're like,
you know what, we got a good one. But that's
just that's it's just a it's a it's a door prize.
It's it's a going home prize. Right, we got a
good player in the draft.
Speaker 5 (17:07):
Well, the reality is those good players would be good
players anywhere.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
Right, Well, they would be great players somewhere else.
Speaker 5 (17:12):
It'd be great player somewhere that would be great.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
But because the results would go with what they're doing,
Like your your efforts aren't aren't going unnoticed because your
team is winning.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
It would be kind of.
Speaker 4 (17:22):
Funny if Arizona had the number one pick and Kayleb
Williams dad is like, now we're not going to Arizona,
So they come back for another year and lo and
behold Arizona's picking number one over against.
Speaker 6 (17:34):
Like right, I mean I was gonna I was gonna say,
contractually set up better to be able to have that
number one pick two years from now with the Kyler
Murray deal.
Speaker 5 (17:43):
Then obviously after this year, real.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
Like all, I had no problem. Yeah, well we'll wear
it for another year.
Speaker 6 (17:51):
It's just look, it's interesting because I mean, look, I
can personally relate to this, and you know, you my
I remember after I got drafted, my dad said something to me,
and I'm not gonna say what he said, but I
remember thinking to myself, like, damn, he's right.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
On your shoulder. Good luck.
Speaker 6 (18:10):
He basically said, like, you know, hey, you got traded
up to be taken in the first round, which is awesome.
He's like, but he's like, think about the difference of
like when you are drafted by a bad football team,
the difference of money you're making when you're drafted at three,
for example, where Joe Thomas is making on that rookie
deal as opposed to what you'll be making at twenty two.
Speaker 5 (18:32):
And I'm like, yeah, like there's there's a lot of
truth to that.
Speaker 6 (18:36):
Is, Like, you don't even get the upside of the
pay from being that top five pick to a bad organization,
like like that was basically like when he was pointing
out is.
Speaker 5 (18:48):
Like Labar was like, yeah, but at least get the contract.
Well yeah, not in this case, like not what you
were to get.
Speaker 4 (18:55):

Speaker 2 (19:59):
On? How are we doing this? That's right.
Speaker 8 (20:01):
We're gonna be given our division winners, our wildcard teams,
and our official super Bowl pick.
Speaker 2 (20:06):
And we're gonna start with Brady here.
Speaker 8 (20:07):
So Brady, go ahead, give us your division wins, those
wildcard teams, and your super Bowl pick.
Speaker 6 (20:13):
Okay, I know we really want to plow through this.
I do have to give you rationale for it. Okay,
I told you guys about this, Like playoff predictor dot Com,
this website you can go on.
Speaker 5 (20:23):
It's really cool. Pick every game throughout the NFL season.
Speaker 6 (20:26):
You can see what your results turn out for turnout
by they tell you, like home games, away games, bye weeks,
all that good stuff.
Speaker 5 (20:33):
I did it.
Speaker 6 (20:34):
I always go with my first time that I do it,
because every time after that, I'm trying to manipulate like
what I did the time before to get a different result.
So I don't know if any of this is going
to happen, but this is what I got. Okay, the
AFC the number one overall seed at twelve and five
winning the AFC South.
Speaker 5 (20:53):
The Jacksonville Jaguars. Wow. Now the Jaguars win.
Speaker 6 (20:57):
A tiebreaker over two other teams twelve and five in
the AFC, the Kansas City Chiefs, who win the AFC
West as the number two seed, and the Sincinnati Bangles
as the three seed, who win the AFC North at
also twelve and five. And finally, I've got the New
York Jets winning the AFC East at eleven and six,
and the final three teams wildcard teams. I have Baltimore
(21:19):
at eleven and six and Cleveland the other wildcard team
from the AFC North at ten and seven, beating out
the Pittsburgh Steelers who are also ten and seven, and
then finally in the last spot, the Denver Broncos at
ten and seven are the other wildcard team the AFC.
Speaker 5 (21:37):
For me, so, I have no idea.
Speaker 6 (21:39):
If it's going to work out this way, but I
tried to heavily weight home games and then bye weeks
and then after that like factoring in things like Chris
Jones will be back for sure by week eight.
Speaker 5 (21:50):
Hopefully Travis Kelsey will be healthier by that.
Speaker 6 (21:53):
Those sorts of things we are factoring them all right,
You want me to do NFC two league, Okay, this
is this is the one that surprised me the most.
So the number one overall. See in the NFC, I
got the Dallas Cowboys at eleven and six. Yeah, they
beat out the New Orleans Saints, the winners of the
NFC South via tiebreaker at eleven and six. Then I've
(22:15):
got San Francisco winning the NFC West at ten and seven,
and then Minnesota winning the NFC North at nine and eight,
beating out a wildcard team in the Green Bay Packers
at nine and eight. My other two wildcard teams are
the Philadelphia Eagles at ten and seven and then Seattle Seahawks.
Speaker 5 (22:33):
At nine and eight as well.
Speaker 6 (22:35):
So a lot more parody kind of grouping together there,
but a lot of tiebreakers and a lot of you know,
get I guess close, you know ties between the between
the teams.
Speaker 2 (22:46):
Excellent.
Speaker 8 (22:46):
So we have all your wildcard teams, your division winners.
What about your Super Bowl production?
Speaker 5 (22:50):
Go baby, come on, all right, I have.
Speaker 6 (22:54):
The Jacksonville Jaguars losing to the Cincinnati Bengals to go
to win the AFC, so the Bengals represent the AFC
in the NFC. I have the Dallas Cowboys beating the
San Francisco forty nine ers to get to the Super
Bowl as well. So I've got Cincinnati facing the Dallas
(23:15):
Cowboys and ultimately the Cincinnati Bengals winning the Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (23:20):
Wow, how about it, Cleveland guy supporting Cincinnati via playoff predictor?
Speaker 6 (23:25):
I actually had two, by the way, Cincinnati beating Cleveland
in the divisional round or no, excuse me, in the
wildcard round of the AFC playoffs.
Speaker 2 (23:37):
Look at that? All right? Lee, Who's next? All right?
Speaker 8 (23:41):
From Brady to LeVar, LeVar, let's start with your AFC teams.
Speaker 1 (23:45):
All right, I'm not going to give I'm not going
to do records and all that stuff. I'm just give you,
guys what I'm going to say.
Speaker 6 (23:52):
To go on the website next time. I'll tell you
it's easy. It takes like five ten minutes.
Speaker 5 (23:56):
It's fun.
Speaker 1 (23:56):
Yeah, you gotta sign up for it, though. But I
feel pretty strongly about what I got going on here.
I say I feel pretty good about it. And in
the AFC East, I have the Bills coming out on
top of the AFC East. In the North, I have
the Bengals winning winning it. I have the in the
South the Jacksonville Jaguars. In the West, I have the
(24:17):
Chargers And I know that might sound crazy, but I
think the Chargers will win the division. My wild cards
for the AFC clearly the Chiefs and then I think
it's followed by the Dolphins and the Steelers. In the NFC,
I have the Eagles coming out of the East. In
(24:38):
the North, I have the Lines Handling handling the North,
and in the South I have the Saints winning the South.
And in the West I have the forty nine Ers
winning winning the West. For the wild cards, I actually
have the Commanders, the Vikings, and the Seahawks making it
into the playoffs. And and yes, that means that we
(25:00):
would see the Dallas Cowboys missing the playoffs. That would
also mean on the a f C side of it,
the Jets would be missing the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (25:13):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
If I'm prognosticating correctly, and then the Super Bowl, I
think it's a repeat performance. I think out of the
out of the n f C the Eagles will will
navigate it and out of the the a f C,
even though they will be a wild card team. I
believe that the Chiefs will get it going and eventually
(25:35):
make it to the super Bowl and it'll be a rematch.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
And who will do we make the super Bowl prediction? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (25:40):
Him?
Speaker 2 (25:40):
Come on, I mean, you gotta now, you gotta beat well,
not well China, sort of. Well you've been on the
Steelers for a little while.
Speaker 1 (25:52):
I mean, I'm pretty I was pretty I was pretty
solid on what what I'm thinking. So I just wrote
them out. I mean, it's not my first time going
through this exercise. Uh, but I don't like to choose
a super Bowl game. Come on, you gotta pick one.
I'm gonna go with the Chiefs. You gotta beat the
champ to beat the champ. So I'm gonna still stick
with the Chiefs to to go back to back.
Speaker 5 (26:11):
For Dallas I got.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
I just don't trust Dak. I don't trust him.
Speaker 5 (26:19):
Damn.
Speaker 2 (26:20):
I wish I could.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
I was just with Mikeah last weekend, man, Like, did
y'all see hits Tostitos commercial as funny as hell?
Speaker 2 (26:27):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (26:28):
I just I just don't trust Dak I don't know.
I can't get my mind wrapped around he's he can
take them to the super Bowl. I'm sorry, he's got
and if he proves me wrong, wonderful.
Speaker 5 (26:39):
You know, why can't Micah? Why can't that defense.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
Team because they can't. They can win the Super Bowl,
but they can't take him there.
Speaker 5 (26:45):
Damn.
Speaker 1 (26:46):
You gotta have it. You gotta have a quarterback, man,
you gotta have a quarterback.
Speaker 5 (26:52):
Like they got one.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
They do. But I don't know that he's the quarterback
that's going to take them to the to the Super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (26:57):
Brandon Cooks now too right.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
I'm just saying I don't know. I think the NFC,
I just is going to swallow him.
Speaker 5 (27:04):
Up to eleven to eleven. So far, I don't feel
like we're supporting dang.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
I totally support Abdul Carter, love him. That's my guy.
He will be totally fine. It was the first game,
and it was a pretty good and like really nice,
fine physical offensive line for West Virginia. And as far
as with Michael Parsons, Michael Parsons is on par and
on pace to get Defensive Player of the Year and
and and could have the type of season depending on.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
How uses him starting.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
Yeah, he's still on pace coming out of last season
because you know, you know how that works. Ce, you
got to set yourself up to be in the running.
Yeah you got but but you know obviously I look
at uh Mike as being in the conversation.
Speaker 5 (27:46):
That's that's so true.
Speaker 6 (27:48):
Ever Pro Bowl voting, Oh yeah, sometimes they just like
you had a Pro Bowl year?
Speaker 2 (27:52):
Yeah, but he made it.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
Yeah there was dude that was Imagine being a middle
linebacker with Zach Thomas and and ray Lewis middle backer, Like, yeah,
you just forget I was really good.
Speaker 2 (28:03):
Yeah you are? You just not rain Zach.
Speaker 6 (28:05):
Yeah you could have the best year of your life
and it really statistically could have been a better year.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
But yeah, that that happened, Eli.
Speaker 5 (28:15):
Bro, that happened all the time. I remember. The worst
part was I remember we did it as a team.
Speaker 6 (28:19):
We would always scheme it up to vote like for knowing,
like for a guy who like never had a shot,
because I don't think you could vote for your own.
Speaker 2 (28:26):
Player, right, yeah, yeah you could, but I think you
had to.
Speaker 5 (28:29):
Vote for someone else.
Speaker 6 (28:31):
We would collectively vote for like the worst returners, so
Cribs hopefully would get more votes.
Speaker 5 (28:36):
That he get in the Pro Bowl. I'll never forget
doing that.
Speaker 8 (28:41):
All right, fellas, we've got the pros. How about the
Joe Jonas. Let us know what your division winners are,
your wild card teams, and.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
Some time for the main event here. Let's see here
we go. Get that paper.
Speaker 5 (28:49):
I can't wait for that. Yeah, get that.
Speaker 6 (28:51):
Yeah, he's gonna have like the Toronto Argonauts or something.
Speaker 4 (28:55):
And stamped Stampeders. A right, I'm gonna start out in
the AFC. I'm gonna go out West. I got the
Chargers winning the AFC West. I'm a little bit down
on Kansas City right now. We got problems Travis Kelce,
the Chris Jones stuff. So I'm gonna go with the
Chargers to win the AFC West. I like the Jacksonville
Jaguars to win the South. I think that's pretty easy.
(29:17):
I'm going to take the Baltimore Ravens to win the
AFC North, and then I've got the Buffalo Bills winning
the AFC East. To all is forgiven Stefan Diggs as
a team captain. Nothing to see here. I think the
Bills bounce back after that poor playoff performance last year.
So those of my division winners. My wild card teams
are going to be the Chiefs, the Jets, and the
(29:39):
Denver Broncos as my wild card team, which means the
Cincinnati Bengals will not make the playoffs. My AFC champion
is the LA Chargers. I've got the Chargers coming out
of the AFC.
Speaker 2 (29:53):
Over in the NFC. Over in the listen, I know
where my Are you winging it right now? Are you
off the cuff with this?
Speaker 5 (30:02):
On the.
Speaker 4 (30:04):
NFC, I've got the Seattle Seahawks winning the NFC West.
I've got the New Orleans Saints winning the South. I've
got the Detroit Lions winning the North, and the Dallas
Cowboys winning the NFC East. And my wild car teams
the forty nine Ers, the Eagles and Brady Chicago Bears
as a wild car team in the NFC. And then
(30:27):
I've got the Dallas Cowboys coming out of the NFC.
They're gonna be your NFC champ. And in the Super Bowl,
how about them Cowboys? Cowboys over the Chargers in Las Vegas.
Speaker 2 (30:39):
Oh, don't be there. Yes, Oh wow, Dallas. I will
say this, that'd be a hell of a Super Bowl. Yeah,
that'd be We have a whole lot of fun.
Speaker 4 (30:47):
Look the Kellen Moore Bowl, Kellen Moore, Mike McCarthy going
at it. You know, X, couple of x's battling it out.
So we've got the Chargers and we've got the Cowboys
in the super.
Speaker 1 (30:56):
You're listening to this segment out there, crumble up what
Jonas just said you and throw it in the trash can, yeah,
or take it out of and then throw it back in.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
There, or give it to Abdul's so you could smoke in.
You're a Jersey for that.
Speaker 5 (31:15):
Lvar is not wrong.
Speaker 6 (31:17):
Like you might as well bet with like the favorites
in the AFC, Kse Buffalo whoever you want to throw
in the conversation and just just take the favorites at
this point.
Speaker 5 (31:27):
Yeah, that's kind of what it's been.
Speaker 2 (31:28):
It has.
Speaker 6 (31:29):
I mean, San Francisco has been to three of the
last four NFC Championship games, so you have to think
about putting them in your NFC Championship game. We've all
case knows is the AFC Championship Game. So I didn't
even have them going that far to know why.
Speaker 1 (31:44):
Yeah, went in the division doesn't even matter to k
C anymore, Just as long as we win the a
f C, we're going win to AFC. We're gonna win
it when it matters. If we got Mahomes, we're good.
We're good, and we'll figure it out. That's what I'm
going with. I'm gonna trust that Mahomes. The experience of it, well,
the best part.
Speaker 6 (31:59):
That's what happens the vision on I got Cincinnati beating Casey.
Speaker 1 (32:03):
And which that makes sense. That does make sense. Yeah, yeah,
that does make sense. Listen, there we go. That's our picks.
So if you like those, cool, if not, kiss our ass.
Let's roll with here for the twenty twenty three seasons.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
It'll take.
Speaker 4 (32:19):
It's two pros and a cup of Joe here on
Fox Sports Radio, LeVar Arrington Brady Radio.
Speaker 2 (32:25):
All Right, So coming up, I can't.
Speaker 5 (32:27):
Let it go.
Speaker 2 (32:27):
I got disappointed enough. They disappointed me. I looked at
the Ravens. I'm like, the Ravens is like pick me,
pick me up, Like, hell no, you know how me to?
You mess me over?
Speaker 4 (32:38):
I think I might have him in the AFC title game.
It's like the X You swear off and then all
of a sudden you see that fall. The phone call
come in and you go all right, fine, one more time.
Speaker 5 (32:47):

Speaker 5 (34:55):
It's over under.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
Alright, lead to lap. What the hell do we got guys?
Speaker 8 (35:00):
We got lions at Chiefs and let's start off off
to this news is just coming out. Travis Kelsey is
playing on going through a workout this morning to test
that injured knee. Number of plays we see Travis Kelsey
playing this game is out of half over.
Speaker 2 (35:15):
I'm gonna take the under over. I'm gonna take the under.
Speaker 5 (35:19):
He doesn't miss games. I mean, he just doesn't miss time. Man.
Speaker 6 (35:23):
I just I don't know how effective he'll be, but
I think he's out there.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
I just don't think that they should allow him to risk.
Speaker 5 (35:31):
Uh, you gotta protect himself.
Speaker 2 (35:33):
I think they might have to protect him from himself.
Speaker 5 (35:35):
He's a dog though, man, but got that dog?
Speaker 2 (35:39):
What what does he got in him?
Speaker 5 (35:41):
Cat?
Speaker 1 (35:44):
I just I just think that you gotta protect See
the X rays of his chest right there right behind
that that that that rip cage.
Speaker 4 (35:52):
By the way, that's That's one of the dumbest things
that people said me. It's like the back of a
no fear shirt, like, I mean, doll that and that
dude is somewhere sitting around drinking Pina coladas saying I
got y'all.
Speaker 1 (36:07):
Because no fear, no fear. Then what are they called
zoobat pants or whatever? Zubas zubas sweet? I mean, unbelievable
And being in in the NFL in Washington, DC to
see how the Ravens really took that whole thing and
embraced it and still embraced it.
Speaker 2 (36:27):
It's kind of weird.
Speaker 1 (36:27):
Oh Man pants ubas some purple the leopard tiger print
pants or whatever. Yeah, it's horrible what somebody got paid
off of that.
Speaker 8 (36:39):
Total for the games at fifty three Fellas free under.
Speaker 6 (36:44):
I'm gonna take it's the highest. U is the highest
of the weekend. I believe it's the highest.
Speaker 2 (36:50):
Well, I know it's higher than Washington Arizona. I'm gonna
take the under.
Speaker 6 (36:54):
I'm gonna take the over. People tend to forget the past.
Defense for Detroit was pretty bad last year.
Speaker 5 (37:01):
Curious to see if that's improved.
Speaker 6 (37:04):
The offensive line, obviously is I mean, the interier offensive
line for Casey is probably one of the best in
the league, if not the best. And then the tackles
they invested money too, So I think there's gonna be
a fair amount of points.
Speaker 4 (37:15):
And by the way, I'm seeing this tick down to
fifty two Lee on the game total.
Speaker 5 (37:20):
Yeah, Lee, that's an old line.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
Fifty two.
Speaker 8 (37:22):
I'm seeing fifty three on DraftKings as we speak.
Speaker 1 (37:26):
Huh, I'm looking at draft kings. I see fifty two.
I mean, why are we not using DraftKings. It has
to be got to use draft draft Kings said fifty
you're using draft kings too, don't know what the difference.
Speaker 2 (37:38):
Fifty two and a half.
Speaker 6 (37:39):
There we go, all right, I'm actually seeing some books.
It's fifty three fifty three and a half.
Speaker 1 (37:43):
Now there you go, not me. I'm still going to
take the under on this. And when you use some money,
go with your boy var on this one and have
a long galland a LeVar Alan after you win.
Speaker 8 (37:54):
Guys. Onto the quarterbacks. Passing touchdowns for Jared Goff one
and a half.
Speaker 5 (38:00):
Over over.
Speaker 2 (38:04):
Yeah, I'll take the over on this one.
Speaker 8 (38:06):
Passing in rushing yards for Patrick Mahomes. So passing the
rushing yards combined three oh eight and a half.
Speaker 2 (38:11):
Oh, take the over over. Lastly, here sax for Aden
Hutchinson at a half. I take the over. Yeah, I'll
take the over. I think he gets one.
Speaker 1 (38:23):
I mean it's not that the offensive line isn't what
you're saying to I think that you know, Mahomes likes
to move around sometimes it may create an operation.
Speaker 5 (38:33):
I'll take the under. I'll take the under here.
Speaker 2 (38:35):
Yeah, there we go, and sat for some Thursday night
football to open up the year. Yeah, come out, come out,
