Football League is not the Jets winning a game last
night in overtime, and not Josh Allen's four turnovers as
(01:28):
he has turned into a turnover machine over the past
nineteen games, and not what has happened anywhere else in
that game. It's Aaron Rodgers and Aaron Rodgers going down
with what appears to be a season ending achilles injury
four plays in to his New York Jets career. He
(01:50):
was sacked by Leonard Floyd and when he got up,
he looked at the sideline. He gave him this sort
of acknowledgment that something's wrong, and he sat back and
that was that. He was taken off the field. He
was brought into the medical tent, and then he was
hopped up on a cart with a walking boot on.
And now we are awaiting the word officially whether or
(02:13):
not Rogers is indeed done for the year. They are
going to have an MRI at some point, but all
expectations the video and every time you watch the video
where you just see the pop and you see it
coil back up into his calf. Looks like Rogers' season
and who knows, possibly career could be over at this point,
(02:33):
depending on how motivated he is to come back. Doctor
David Show did say on social media, this is different
than an MBA injury when it comes to the achilles.
In the NBA, you're going to rely on your achilles
that much more, which is what makes Kobe Bryant's return
that much more impressive. Kevin Durant, all of those guys,
This one from a quarterback standpoint, makes it a little
(02:56):
bit more realistic that he does come back. But he is,
as you pointed out earlier, Levarty nine years old. Kind
of changes the conversation.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
It's unfortunate happening, but nonetheless it's a common injuries happen,
and season ending injuries happen. You just don't like to see.
I mean, it sounds horrible, but you just don't like
to see it happen to someone like Aaron Rodgers. Don't.
I am an Aaron Rodgers body less interested in the
(03:30):
season now, it's not as interesting without having your megastars.
That was one of the biggest storylines developing for this year.
Oh Yeah, the New York Jets. What would they do
with Aaron Rodgers? What does Aaron Rodgers do? And how
does that play into what goes on in Green Bay?
(03:53):
How does Green Bay do this year? How does Jordan
Love do this year? There? And I mean, those story
lines are still alive, but they're much much better when
Aaron Rodgers' name is associated and involved with what's taking
place week to week. So it's unfortunate happening for him
(04:15):
first and foremost, But make no mistake about it, that
was an achille tendant rupturing for all of us as
sports fans. If you're into if you're into sports, if
you're into football, that was a rupturing for all of us.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
And I'd also like to point out here, man, there
are some Jets fans that are such losers. They're such losers.
Get a life, get a grip on reality, do something else,
and leave the poor me pity parties for stuff that's
actually a pity party. You see, Jets fans. The second
(04:49):
Rogers goes down with the injury, of course it would
happen to us. Of course the Jets are cursed. Of course.
First off, how about just the fact that this guy's
thirty nine years old, and he might have just lost
his career on the field. But about right, But no,
my football team's curse. There was no guarantees you were
going to win a super Bowl because you had Aaron Rodgers, Like, yeah,
(05:11):
you were going to be more competitive, You're going to
be more of a talking point, more of a conversation.
But this idea that the second Rogers goes down, it's like, oh,
of course this would happen to my favorite football team.
You're a loser. The guy got injured. Worry about his
career and what his immediate future is, not whether or
not your goofy football team who's who's known for having
(05:32):
you know, another quarterback who wore pantios and you got
another coach who had a foot fetish. Worry about that
stuff and not whether or not your team is cursed
because Rogers went down with an injury. Losers.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
Crazy thing is we don't even know, Like we had
no idea if they were going to be really really
I know, we had no idea, Like there's no if
you're throwing a pity party, if you're not whatever, either way,
it doesn't matter. You just will never know what you
(06:04):
guys could have potentially been.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
Hit four plays, like four snaps.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
That is I mean, that's that's insane, bro, Like that quick,
it was over. The Aaron Rodgers story dominated the headlines
an entire off season and was over in four plays
in the first game.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
Put it into perspective like this, there were more Hard
Knocks videos and more Hard Knocks episodes than Rogers plays
as a Jets quarterback this year. That is how it sucks, man, Like,
just did the storyline, everything surrounding it. It's a crummy
way for Rogers to go out. And I know, Robert
(06:49):
Sala said after the game, my heart's not with Rogers,
or my heart's not with me. I'm not thinking about myself.
I'm thinking about Rogers.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
You know.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
Robert Sala at some point though, during the course of
his train of thought, was like are you serious, like
this like this was, this is why we did all
this And just the way Rogers running out on the
field with the American flag, Like I was really genuinely
excited to watch that game last night because I just
wanted to see it play out and I was hoping
(07:17):
it was going to do well. And yeah, four plays
in and that's it, you know, sucks.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
There's still a silver lining here, and it might this
might sound outrageous, it might sound crazy, the Giants deranged,
a little delusional. But you do have a first round
draft pick on your roster that you drafted. Yeah, you
(07:44):
know there is there is that that you do have
your draft pick from a few years back that is
starting for your team. Now we're having conversations as to
what do you do. Do you go out and get
another guy? Da da da, so on and so forth.
(08:07):
Zach Wilson went number two overall in the draft. What
happens here will define that to me, will define a lot.
He's your number two pick. Let's let let's see if
(08:30):
all the things he's gone through, the ridicule of being
childish or not being responsible or accountable enough from last
season that he needs time to mature. From Robert Sala
at the end of the season, we still believe in him.
At the end of the season, during the offseason, you're
bringing Aaron Rodgers, you still believe in him. You don't
get rid of them. Let's see if all of that
(08:53):
had an impact on him that actually is positive towards
his growth and his move into He was really excited
last night when they won that game, and he was
a part of them winning that game. So let's see
if he can he can continue to write his story
and write some of the things that he did incorrectly
(09:14):
that that led to him being in the position he
was in, you know, before Aaron Rodgers got injured.
Speaker 1 (09:19):
Now let's take a listen. This was Zach Wilson afterwards,
a victorious Zach Wilson talking about the loss of Rogers.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
Crazy.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
I mean, first, you know, I have so much love
for him, so you know, you know, my heart goes
out to him. I have no idea what's happened. I
got to see him a half time for a second.
But you know, I know, you know he'll find a
way to keep keep working to get back. But that's tough.
It hurts us as a team, you know. But my
job as a quarterback is I got to step up
and I got to be able to be a fishing
(09:48):
as I can in that offense. And a lot of
emotions right like week one, opening day, you know, trying
to learn as much as I can from this guy.
But I also got to make sure I'm ready to go,
and so a lot of emotions, you know, you gotta
be try and stay calm and you know, go out
there and try.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
And perform them.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
So that was Zach Wilson post game. Now there was
what he really wanted to say.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Man, I hope Aaron Rodgers is okay?
Speaker 1 (10:11):
But do you think that goes?
Speaker 2 (10:18):
I'll take no more questions.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
Do you think that's how it goes?
Speaker 2 (10:21):
I mean, on the inside, he really does hope that
Aaron Rodgers is okay and he recovers you know, well,
but if you're telling me on the inside that dude
wasn't pumped up that he was going to get his
old starting job back, Man, come on, Yeah, I never
(10:42):
wish somebody's demise for my come up ever in life ever.
But if there was a demise that took place, I'm
not going to feel guilty about having another shot and
another opportunity to do what it is that I know
I can do. You know, I mean, isn't that like
(11:03):
the law of nature? You know what I mean? Like
I'm a former number one overall draft pick for my team.
I could have done things better. A girl got the
best of me. That's friends with my mom. At some
point in time in my life, I didn't take accountability
(11:24):
over a loss, Like I'm not going to be the
one that y'all blamed for this. I mean, it just
seems to me like out of the ashes of what
was supposed to be a tremendous Aaron Rodgers story for
him and the New York Jets still turns out to
be an opportunity for the story to be written in
a way where an underdog that really wasn't an underdog
(11:48):
but became an underdog, actually came in and made a
difference in a way where this team was competitive and
ultimately climbed into maybe when the division maybe you know,
going far into playoffs. I mean, no, there was that
not possible.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
Well, there was a and I'm not trying to rain
on the Zach Wilson parade here, but there was a
report that came out that I saw floating around there
yesterday well that before the Rogers trade, the Jets were
trying to acquire Matt Stafford. But that was a conversation
(12:30):
and some people have speculated, even though the Rams won
on Sunday at Seattle, that if this maybe goes the
way it's going to go, could that be a potential
move for the for the Jets. Maybe they revisit that again.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
Well that's not going to happen. Now. Who was the
quarterback for the Rams on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
Oh yeah, yeah, so that ain't happen.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
Yeah, So that's why. I mean, I think it's a
long shot as well too, But you would assume theyre
you know, maybe they kicked the tires on somebody else.
People have brought up the Carson and to me, Joe
Flacco would make some sense because he was there like
like he was he was in New York, So maybe
that would you look at that and go, well that
could that could possibly.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
Be who's currently the backup they got to bring in
another quarterback?
Speaker 1 (13:13):
I believe it's let me, I believe it's Ken O'Brien
if I'm not mistaken. Could it be Mark Sanchez? Could
it be I don't.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
Like any of those names you named as potential potential
candidates to bring in. I don't. I think it's it's
time for Flacco. We're like, it's time, Carson Wentz's time.
You know, maybe coach be an analyst something.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
Now. I know you were saying before the show that
you just hope that Tim Boyle is the the other quarterback.
Speaker 4 (13:47):
He wasn't active, but yeah, Tim Boyle is the other
one that's.
Speaker 1 (13:49):
On the So I know, like before the show, and
I and I know LaVar, you probably wouldn't mind that
I brought this up. But yeah, before the show, you
were saying that you just hope that finally and Kaepernick
can get an opportunity. So I know that that was something.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
That you were you know, I mean, when you think
about it, he's been waiting, he's he's been ready, and
he's been held back. And there's got to be at
least ninety five percent of the teams out there that
he's better than their backup.
Speaker 1 (14:26):
Which is a proven stat You know that that percentage
out there? Yeah, proven?
Speaker 2 (14:30):
Oh my beat nine be very good. He's better than
those backups. And now maybe the debate will rage on
that how does Kaepernick not get brought into New York
when you know that he's a better player than the
(14:51):
backup to Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
I mean, yeah, listen, you know.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
And let's let's let's let's pay attention to see if that,
you know, becomes a store. Yeah, because if there was
ever a perfect time for franchise to take, uh take
a flyer and and take a chance on a guy
like Colin Kaepernick, you know.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
Now, yeah, and I do.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
I do it. By the way, for those year that
was a bit everyone that was but a bit.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
Here's the here's the sad truth. That's not a bit
for some people, like that's crazy, they're really going to
go with that.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
That's there was one hundred sarcasm and.
Speaker 1 (15:31):
Yeah, so you know it is. This is where the
Jets are at. They're going to potentially just roll with
Zach Wilson. But again, we do not have anything official yet.
The assumption is season ending injury for Aaron Rodgers, but
we do not have anything official yet. As soon as
we do, we will keep it posted here on Fox
Sports Radio. It is Two Pros and a Cup of
(15:52):
Joe here on FSR, and you can listen to this
as always on the iHeartRadio app. Coming up next though,
this could be the window of opportunity for a surprising
team in the NFL, though, and we'll tell you who
that is right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 5 (16:08):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Arrington and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (16:22):
Two pros and a cup of Joe, Fox Sports Radio,
LaVar Arrington, Jonas Knox with you here coming up twenty
minutes from now. We're going to close up shop with
another edition of You In or You Out, And it's
yours again twenty minutes from now here from the tire
Raq dot Com studios. So we are still.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
Crap today, thought we do some crap.
Speaker 1 (16:41):
We are going to do it an you want to
do credit and craft?
Speaker 2 (16:43):
Yeah, I love that.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
Just throwing out an idea. I wasn't sure if anybody
was into it.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
So I loved it. Love be awesome you. I love it.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
I had a lot of craft this weekend. I was
terrible with my picks, absolutely brutal, but I.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
Wasn't very good either, to be honest now, And I'm
glad that Q wasn't here Monday and Tuesday because I
didn't feel like having I know, there were so many
people out there waiting to hear me and Q go
back and forth about Colorado and then Nebraska game. And
I'm still willing to do it well and I'm not
(17:21):
saying listen, I'm not willing to go on record and
say that I'm admitting I was wrong. It was a
wrong prediction, But I don't think I was all the
way wrong. And I know I was getting accused of
being a hater and all these other things that went
along with me just being a tad bit critical of
(17:41):
what I saw out of Prime's team. Like am I
a personal fan of Prime? Yes? But am I going
to do my job and say things that I see
I am. I don't know that the answers that I
was seeking were definitively put the bid.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
Post Nebraska game, I would have just loved to have
seen how that game plays out if Jeff Simms wasn't
turning the ball over like Josh Allen, like I just
would love to have seen, because Nebraska's defense was playing
their ass off early in that game against those skill
players for Colorado. Nebraska's defense was playing really, really well,
(18:24):
and their offense just kept giving the ball back. Like
I would have loved to have seen how that game
would have played out, because it was almost like and
I don't know if this is a real thing, but
at least it felt like that just watching it, it
was almost like the defense just kind of said, man,
what have we got to do? Like, and they got
to the second half and it was the game was
(18:46):
just over. I kind of feel bad from that rule
because I feel like Nebraska's not Yes, they're zeroing too,
but it doesn't feel like an owen. It feels like
a team that's really close who was probably should have
won the first game and was definitely in that other
game in the second game against Colorado, both on the road.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
But with that being said, Colorado is has already doubled
its win total from a year ago.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
Top fifteen team Baby.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
And the amount of excitement that's being generated by this,
this Dion led team, you cannot take away. There's a
lot of things that people may work on coming up with,
conjuring up whatever it may be, you know, maybe the downfall.
(19:36):
I don't know that they would say about, you know,
Dion criticism wise, but there's no denying what he's done
thus far is nothing short of miracuts.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
By the way, ed brilliant Top eighteen team. I said fifteen,
Top eighteen, the eighteenth in the country now, but still imprinting.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
Yes, it's it's this is so amazing what we're seeing
take place, and people could say, well he can't. You know,
Kenny coach, coaching is in question? Can he lead a
Power five team that that idea of it is in question?
(20:20):
I mean, there were so many things that were almost
like hiring Prime was a gimmick, like if you did it,
if you took that that that jump, that it was
going to be gimmicky. And you know, kind of my
my thoughts on it is it was okay for it
to be a gimmick when he went to Jackson State.
(20:42):
Is it because the stakes weren't as high? Is it
because because the HBCUs aren't as revered as Power fives?
It just seemed like it was okay that he went
to Jackson State, and then when he had success that
was okay as well. But now it's like can he
do it? Can he really do it at this this level?
(21:04):
Can he? Can he do it out of power fast school?
Can he turn a team around that was only good
enough to win one game? Then you get the spots
where they're talking about you know him and how he
talked about I'm bringing my Louis luggage and this that
and the other, and you know the transfer portal. I mean,
what are you going to say at this point.
Speaker 1 (21:25):
Well, they're gonna win this week against Colorado State because
Colorado State stinks. And then after that then it gets
tough because then you've got Oregon, then you've got USC.
That's that's what But.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
Are you going? But but let's be clear at this point,
does he really have to win those games to have
legitimacy as as someone who has come come in and
and done the job that he's done.
Speaker 1 (21:54):
No, he's got Look, he's got legit.
Speaker 2 (21:55):
He's already won.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
Yeah, he's got legitimate Heisman Trophy contenders and can it's
on his roster. Yeah, and so he could he could
go into to Oregon and he could go into USC
as long as there somewhat competitive. To me, I look
at it and I go, he's already put him on
the map. The buzz is already there.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
Man.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
That place was jumping in Boulder like that was. It
was packed, Yeah, it was.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
It looked it hurt. Brady say, they couldn't even stay there. Yeah,
all the hotels were booked. So and I've been I've
been on social media, Jonas literally every social media influencer
you know, on air talents and Shannon right, all these
celebrities rappers, singers, actors. They were all there. Yeah, they
(22:44):
were all there. So he's turning he's turning the culture
into that of prime time. Yeah, it's a primetime culture.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
It kind of reminds me, although look at they haven't
done nearly what this program did. But man, when Jimmy
Johnson got to Miami, things changed there.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
He kind of has that feel, Yeah, because Jimmy Johnson
had that bravado.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
Yeah, he was like, you know, and and if.
Speaker 2 (23:14):
He had that bravado, that does not even come close
to comparing to Dion's his bravo. What is it called barrado? What? What? What?
What was the word bravado? Bravado? Yeah, there it is Bravado.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
Watch company, I think it is.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
Who knows Evado? Yeah, has only the dot right.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
Thank you Coach Belichick way in here, you know.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
But not to get sidetracked, I feel like that that
could be a good. That's a good. It could be
a strong comparison because I will say, I will say
a culture was established. The type of kids he has
that needed to go to the school started to go
to Miami before jim Me Johnson.
Speaker 1 (24:01):
When they got off the plane and Army fatigues yeah, yeah, yeah,
that was who was the court?
Speaker 5 (24:09):
Was that?
Speaker 6 (24:11):
No?
Speaker 1 (24:12):
The quarterback for for Penn State was now the broadcast
you took a picture with that top, not Eddie Garcia.
Who is the quarterback for Penn State?
Speaker 2 (24:24):
Again?
Speaker 1 (24:24):
I think I think it was John Schaeffer.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
That sounds about right, sounds about right. And and forgive
me John, if that's true.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
That's right. We'll clean it up on the podcast and
then you send them with me and say what happened.
Speaker 2 (24:38):
Let's do a voiceover, Yeah, me saying his name definitely
did not remember. I remember d J Dozer, I remember
uh Trey Trey Bauer and.
Speaker 1 (24:49):
Set you up, let me set you up here, all right?
Three two one hmm?
Speaker 2 (24:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (24:55):
Who was that quarterback for Penn State in that game?
Speaker 2 (24:57):
LaVar? Yeah, I remember John Shaeffer being under center, Jonas
DJ Dojer being in the backfield ray Isom and the
and the and the secondary. Maybe Michael Irving gets some
uh some alligator arms. You know, we had Shane Collin
the great, you know, one of the valedictorians of of
(25:19):
of linebacker you uh you know, we had Pete Catopolis
you know on that team, we had uh Tim Johnson,
Big Tim Johnson was on that team. I mean, yeah,
we had some guys, man, we had some guys.
Speaker 1 (25:34):
Well listen, uh, you know they got some guys in
South Beach. Not the Miami Hurricanes, but have it the
Miami Dolphins. Because lost in the conversation because I'm looking
around the a f C East.
Speaker 2 (25:49):
And obviously we dropped the hammer.
Speaker 1 (25:51):
Let me tell you something. I'm looking around the a
f C East. The Jets have problems because Rogers is
probably out for the year. The Bills have a quarterback
who turns the ball over too much. And the Patriots
lost to the Eagles. Although mac Jones played well in
the second half, he had a costly turnover in that
game and they lost all of a sudden. When you
look at the AFC East, the Dolphins, if Tua can
(26:13):
stay healthy, if he can stay healthy, and the concussions
aren't a concern, I'm looking at Miami, I don't.
Speaker 2 (26:21):
Think they should be a concern. He's learned how to fall.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
Yeah, and he did jiu jitsu or judah.
Speaker 2 (26:25):
Yeah. Yeah, I don't think that should be a concern
this year.
Speaker 1 (26:28):
Yeah. So, by the way, I still love how people
are just going to continue on with the jiu jitsu
part of that, Like, oh, well he learned that jiu
jitsu this offseason, all right, so what does that have
to do with concussions.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
He's learned how to fall now.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
Judo I would understand, but jiu jitsu, I.
Speaker 2 (26:47):
Don't know that. You don't need on your head so
you don't get no concussions. It just I do know that, right.
Speaker 1 (26:54):
But the Dolphins are now favored slight favorites to win
the division based on tours before Ormans, and Tua is
the early favorite to win MVP based on that based
on that one performance against the Chargers.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
So he threw down man through for four.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
Sixty four to sixty plus there at so far. So
hey man, you know, although this is bad news for
the Jets and bad news for the Patriots and bad
news for the Bills, all in all, pretty good weekndter
the Miami Dolphins. So they could be the benefactors there.
Speaker 2 (27:26):
So yeah, I mean it really might not have mattered
