Speaker 1 (00:01):
It is the best of two pros and a couple
Joe with Lamar Rings and Brady Quinn and Jonas Knox
on sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
How the hell we feeling here on Monday?
Speaker 3 (00:15):
Hell are you feeling? Yeah? I'm growing today.
Speaker 4 (00:18):
Yeah, I feel amazing. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
I feel like a lion Backer from Lion Backer LB
are International lb U day to day are something like
a pirate right now? I know that's I saw someone
was doing some TV work last night. Yeah, you saw that. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (00:43):
It has a bit alarming because I do feel like
you pushed out a good friend of mine who used
to be on that show.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Okay, from the first and foremost messed.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
Up first, trust me, that was the old spot.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Okay, that was That is an unfair representation as to
what happened.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
I there.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
There was a call made, there was a blessing, blessing given,
and multiple time conversations had about the situation, or else
I would not have pursued or even accepted the offer
that was there. So it doesn't matter for those of
you that are listening nationally. It's just this post game
show locally here in Los Angeles on the Channel four
(01:23):
affiliate for NBC and or the NBC affiliate Channel four,
and you know, just trying to figure out TV.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
You know, just some big shoes to fill.
Speaker 4 (01:34):
Man, I used to watch that when Petros was on,
he was as entertaining as a kid.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
There. Jones was stressed, like those shoes were filled. Man,
I'm telling you Jonahs had them shoes for stepping on
last night. Baby.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Do you see the holes in the shoes? By the way,
I didn't realize I need I needed new shoes until
I put them on and went, oh, there's like multiple
holes in them, like ripped at the seams.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
No, I didn't see that, man, I just saw smoothness.
I saw. I saw how you looked at the camera,
all right, yeah, you look. I just saw yours, which
was a little.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
Absolutely.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
Then he looked at the camera a little bit longer,
and then he looked over to his friend all the
way over to the other side. I don't know what.
He's got a whole lot of energy. And I mean
when I say he's got a whole lot of energy,
I thought I was watching scar Phase, But nonetheless, I
mean it was an entertaining show to.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
Watch, man, I appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
I was about to change the channel. I was like,
oh my gosh, this wait, I.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
Don't know for me, man, he's replacing Petros, Like good luck.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
I mean, replace Petros today, then you know you can't
replace Petros the next year, the next time you say
something on a big noon and then you know you
can reach Petro.
Speaker 4 (02:55):
I don't know, maybe he'll be angling for some of
your stuff next thing.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
You know.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
I'm not even and on TV. I couldn't even stay
on TV. You guys are all on TV. I'm just
you know, I'm just here what you guys?
Speaker 2 (03:05):
Can we move on to a bright spot in the
NFL this weekend?
Speaker 3 (03:09):
Oh my gosh, it a dark spot. Well for every bright, bright,
sunny sunshiny day, right, there's a not so bright I mean.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
I'm just trying to figure out, like, who thought it
was nice to have the Miami Dolphins scheduled against an
FCS team in a week three the NFL season. I'm
just trying to figure out, because what the f was
that seventy burger and probably could have had more? Did
the Miami Dolphins put up on the Denver Broncos yesterday?
I don't know when I'm sure there's you know, the
(03:41):
stats that have been thrown out there. I don't recall
ever seeing that ever at all. At any point it
seemed like, you know, they were playing Wafford or somebody
from college football that scheduled early on in the season
because they're looking for a payout. I don't that was
what the hell was that, man.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
I mean, in defense of the Denver Broncos, their defense
was pretty banged up. They were missing some pieces in
the secondary, so maybe that played a role. But I mean,
Miami was even without Waddle. Remember Jalen Wattle was out
due to concussion, so you literally didn't even have their
full strength. And it's just I've been saying it for
(04:27):
weeks now. The offensive creativity. I mean, there's two shovel
passes that Mike McDaniel had kind of put in, and
the different things that he does pre snap and where
he puts guys in different spots.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
It's so far and beyond the other teams.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
If I asked you right now, who are the two
best teams in the NFL, I would say San Francisco
and Miami. They're both three and zero. They've both been
pretty pretty darn good, and they come from the same
coaching tree. Obviously, Mike McDaniel had coached under Kyle Shanahanon's
San Francisco, and it's just like, I feel, it's really
(05:04):
easy to see which offensives excel, which coaches have creativity,
and it can put defenses in a bind. And you
can say, well, they have Tyreek Hill, or they have
Deebo Samuel, they have Christy. Okay, that's part of it,
but I'll say this much brock Party's played really well
and Tua Tago by Lowe has played fantastic this year.
Do we ever have we ever talked about them as
(05:25):
a top five QB. No, Like, we don't look at
either of those two and say, well, they're Josh Allen,
or they're Patrick Mahomes, or they're even Joe Burrow or
Lamar Jackson or we never talked about them like that.
So it's kind of crazy to me that you look
at the two best teams right now three games in,
(05:46):
and I know Philly and Tampa are both undefeated.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
They play to night. But if you look at those
two teams.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
And you said, if you want to talk about the
personnel they have, okay, but it's the coaching, it's the
it's the offensive creativity, the innovation that they have and
it's by far and away bigger than anyone else in
the NFL. And I think they're separating themselves, like Shanahan
and Mike McDaniel are separating themselves from everyone else.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
That they go up against.
Speaker 4 (06:13):
At least schematically, they're ahead of the game right now,
and it seems very obvious.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
I would venture to say, if a team in the
National Football League allows seventy points in the game, somebody
should be fired.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
Now I'm not calling for somebody's job. I'm not calling
for somebody's job. I'm just saying, in corporate America, if
you have a fail is epic?
Speaker 3 (06:49):
Is that in a performance like bud Light. Oh, I
can guarantee you. I can guarantee you when a campaign
ran and it was finished, multiple people lost their job.
I can guarantee that we know, we know, we know
you didn't. Yeah, we're scared.
Speaker 4 (07:12):
We can guarantee the ambassador there was you know, probably
somebody came up with it.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
But yeah, I want you to know about rolling down
in the Deep. That was such a poor Like to me,
you can have a bad day because guys are missing,
but when you have a point total of happening. That's
(07:38):
like literally two points away from what's ever happened? Ever?
Hold on, who are you firing? Though? I don't know,
I don't know. I just I don't know. If I'm
sing Peyton, somebody's got to go.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
I'm sure that wasn't the red ass that Vic Fangio had.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
Baby, it was a red ass, tell you that, and
it was. It was getting slapped over and over and
over and over, and he gave somebody else a read it.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
And got dealt a crap bag when he was coach
of the Broncos quarterback situation slap?
Speaker 3 (08:13):
What did the fingers say to the face over and
over and over and over and over and over seventy
times over?
Speaker 4 (08:20):
The defensive coordinators vance Joseph, I feel like that's a little, uh,
you know, it's a little premature just to fire him
after three games?
Speaker 3 (08:28):
Can we run with I don't know, premature? After seventies?
How many? How many did the defense put up? Did
the defense put up too many? Like there wasn't that
many points the defense put it? I didn't see. I
didn't put up any. The Dolphins scored ten seventy points.
Worked Dolphins scored ten touchs, somebody's gotta go. That's some
I gotta go. I mean it's also and well the
Broncos scored seven. So yeah, so the Broncos offense scored
(08:52):
a couple or the thirteen and that was wasn't that late?
Scored seven? When when did they score? It was late? Right?
Speaker 2 (08:57):
I mean, I just it's the old Nick Saban quote.
They ran through them like bleep through a tin horn,
just all day and could have gotten more.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
I mean, when I was doing my prep for what
I would say and how I would interpret what took
place in the Miami game versus Denver, all I could
sit there and think about was somebody's got to lose
their job over this. If I own that team, And
that's what I'm paying. I'm paying somebody to allow seventy
(09:31):
points to get on the board. Seventy points a lee.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
Can we run with lebar Arrington says Vance Joseph should
be fired? Can we run with that? On Twitter? The
FSR Twitter account.
Speaker 3 (09:41):
I mean, again, what is unfair about it? And I
stand on that like nothing personal, don't know the guy,
never met him, no personal beats, no bones, have nothing
against anybody other than to say I have something against
you being in se in place. I think they're in
second place now all time for most points allowed in
(10:05):
an NFL game. I do believe that they're second place.
I'll put it this way.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
Granted, the Steelers got to win last night, but uh,
the Dolphins in one game gained more yards than the
Steelers had the two games.
Speaker 3 (10:17):
Coming into two games.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
A lead can We also run with Brady Quinn says
Matt Canada should be fired.
Speaker 3 (10:22):
We're just but I never said that.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
I know, but it's I mean, here's here's here's.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
A different headline.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
Lee run with Jonahs knocks did basically get Petrocks Papadaga's fire.
Speaker 2 (10:32):
Oh oh wow, we're getting everybody fired here.
Speaker 4 (10:36):
If you if.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
You did it there, Jonas, not really though, No really? Yeah.
If your stat line was three hundred and six yards passing,
you had one d D, you had one turnover on
one I in T and your quarterback rating was an
eighty three point nine, you had no fumbles, you were
sacked one time. Would you would you sit there and
(11:01):
think I would think that that's a team that probably
won the game. I would say they probably won the game.
And they not only didn't win, they got throttled, thumped.
They run through our ass like a ten horn man. Yep, yep, yep.
(11:24):
I mean I don't. I don't. I find it to
be pretty pretty. That's gotta be super alarming.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
Do you want to hear because you are?
Speaker 3 (11:36):
You are? Also, let's keep this in mind, guys, I
do want to hear it. Let's keep in mind this
team is. Oh, they were zero to two going into
the game. They had already lost two games, so you
can clearly say they are not trending up from those
two losses and improving as they go. That was a
(11:56):
horrible trending down on your third law. Horrible trending down,
by the way, But go ahead, John.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
Do you want to hear red ash Sean Payton after
the game?
Speaker 3 (12:06):
Oh? I mean, who can?
Speaker 2 (12:08):
Okay, So here's here's the Broncos head coach.
Speaker 5 (12:11):
It was next two days, we'll have a lot to
look at and discuss again. It's disappointing. I mean, I'm
gonna lost for words because I've never been in I've
been on the other side of some games like that,
and then every once in a while on.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
This league you get your butt whipped. But this was
more than that.
Speaker 6 (12:30):
I know.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
That you said it's embarrassing, but this is kind of
an historic game. The third time the teams start seventy
points over.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
Seventy, what's a question? I mean, what's the question? I
just finished telling you historically embarrassing? Next question? I mean,
if you give up seventy points, do you get to
respond to the media that way? I mean, I would,
I would have to answer that question every single time
a reporter asked me a question in terms of if
(13:00):
it's embarrassing, even if you already can I point this.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
Out though, after Sean Payton, who is so vocal about
Nathaniel Hackett last year, And I'm not even saying that
there's any ties, but I do wonder if there's like
an element of like, yes, Vic Fangio's on defense. I'm
sure he had a red ass to say like no, no, no,
we're gonna pour it on these guys the entire time
for firing me and you could stop it right. But
(13:24):
I'm sure there's some like almost like bro code, you know,
like Sean paytne was out went to TV, maybe rubbed
some people the wrong way the way he would like
politic for jobs or talk about jobs, and it's almost
like Mike betaking them like that. We're gonna teach Sean
a lesson or two. Like that super Bowl he won,
it was a little while ago. We're we're gonna show
(13:46):
him now where the NFL is at. You know you
didn't take that much time off, but let's just put
it this way, like we're gonna make sure he realizes
you can't just talk like that when you're out about
a guy that was coaching last year and bury him
the way he did Nathaniel Hackett. I do wonder if
there's an element of that at play where they kind
of really wanted to stick it to Sean Payton for
(14:08):
how vocal he's been about all that.
Speaker 3 (14:10):
I just feel like when you get into a scenario
of things being you know that you can find that
there's red asses to go around the entire NFL football. Leep,
that was more than a red ass.
Speaker 4 (14:28):
That was like you know when you got that ex
girlfriend who like keys your car or spray pace on
there that you're a cheeter. I've meant more like like
like punctures your like one tire. This is where like
they just she hires some guys to come in, they
take all four you're on cinder blocks. Like, it's not
like slashing one tire or king one side of your car.
(14:51):
Your car is on blocks. Bro, she took all four wheels.
You aren't going anywhere in that thing. She had those
guys take out the engine, the w whole damn thing.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
Catalytic converter sitting on the side of the road.
Speaker 3 (15:03):
Just see to me, you can you can claim you
can claim a totaled car on on something like that.
To me, you just spray paint that bad boy. Not
to say that I'm in on all of this stuff,
but I just know how bad that has felt for
somebody I've seen go through it.
Speaker 4 (15:20):
I'm just saying, have you gotten through that? You don't
have that? That was very specific. You don't have to name,
you don't see.
Speaker 3 (15:26):
If you do all the stuff you said, insurance takes
care of it, and you laugh at the girlfriend and say, hahaha,
my insurance takes care of it, you stupid. But if
she just spray paints it and puts on there what
you did, the date you did it, you know, stuff
like that information you can't claim totaled?
Speaker 2 (15:44):
Have you guys?
Speaker 3 (15:45):
Have you guys got you got to get a paint
job driving around.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
Have you ever had any car keyed?
Speaker 4 (15:50):
Yes, plenty, I've had plenty of my cars. I never
had my car keid. Well, good for you.
Speaker 3 (15:56):
I've had my car the worst, the worst car keying
I had and it wasn't even a car king. They
just banged my car up bad. Was after a high
school football game. I accident. I won't even say accidentally.
I mean we were out of high school. I had
to drive to the game because I wasn't going to
be able to make it to get on the bus.
(16:17):
So I drive to the game and I parked my
car and after we throttled these boys, apparently somebody knew
who I was, knew what my car was, and I
came out in my car was was fed up.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Yeah, mine went all the way from gas cap to
the to the driver's side door handle or the passenger
side door handle.
Speaker 3 (16:37):
Terrible.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
Yeah, I mean, listen, I'm not here to share anybody's
details on anything.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
Yeah, scoring lover, dang damn. I would know who it
was if it was Lee. You know, we know it
was taught, but yeah, who's your talk.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
I don't know. Listen, I bought it.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
I'm a bud light. We were fined afterwards. Oh good.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
Speaking of the weekend, there was some tremendous television that
took place. And I would say that because I was
on a plane with Lead the Lap coming back from Columbia,
South Carolina for the tailgate event that we had for
Graduate Hotels and was watching the Ohio State Notre Dame
finish and my god, heartbreaking for Notre Dame. But damn,
(17:38):
that was a good football game. That was a really
really fun game. And Brady were you were. Did you
go to South Bend? Did you leave Cincinnati and go
out to South Bend for that game?
Speaker 4 (17:48):
I was hoping we could talk more about the Brian
Farrens deep fake and that sound that wasn't real, because
now it kind of makes it like you wish he
would have said that and then they would have had
that sort of offensive performance.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
Yeah, they're his average took a little bit of a hit,
so huge ship that pay raise on Saturday.
Speaker 4 (18:07):
And also like Kate McNamara was pretty outspoken this offseason.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
I mean, I was Sam.
Speaker 4 (18:12):
You can probably add greater context to this, But didn't
he make some comments about people talking trash about the
offense that he was encouraging people to do so.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
Uh? I didn't hear that, but I wouldn't be surprised
at all if.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
Let me read the direct quote.
Speaker 4 (18:27):
It's like, I come to Iowa, Sam to get involved
into show. I haven't heard everybody this offseason.
Speaker 2 (18:32):
He doesn't. He's trying to forget all about what the
hell happened in state.
Speaker 7 (18:36):
I'm sure that they had a chip on their shoulder
entering the season and they Yeah.
Speaker 4 (18:41):
They walked into a white out and they saw I said,
it's so crazy.
Speaker 3 (18:47):
I told people I did. I didn't I do. I've
told you guys about my weekly deal with with Franklin.
Franklin said, what you think our identity is? And I'd say,
there's a bunch of d bags with that, like have
a bully mentality, but they love each other. How do
you take that? He just he he looked at it.
He's like, huh, Like it was just one of those
type of moments. This is a bunch of d bags.
(19:10):
That love each other. They're bullies and I love it.
And it starts. It's starting to show. You go up
against a team that is considered to be largely in
part their identity is to be able to bully you
up front, and you're talking about that Iowa Hawk Eyes team. Uh,
they're stout up front. They come off the ball up front.
(19:33):
And I was a little nervous because you know, West
Virginia had a lot of success with us upfront and
we're able to find running lanes, and so you were like, Okay,
this is going to be a true test and a
true challenge for this defense, and it's going to be
a true challenge for the offensive front as well. Let
me tell you something, man, they are a bunch of
(19:54):
battering rams. Like they beat you to death and they
just keep coming in waves. And it was just so
beautiful to see man like Chop Robinson he joined the
party on Saturday finally like really really showing people why
he's he's a tremendous prospect for the next sture.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
Iowa was the measuring stick though it was a good
warm up for like the Ohio State game coming up.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
See we could say that, but Iowa Iowa up front
and on defense posed a lot of potential issues for
for Penn State.
Speaker 4 (20:31):
It could have been a much You know, there's two
games that will I'll put it this way. If you
look at the A people right now, the Big Ten
has three teams in the top six. They don't have
another ranked team the rest of the way. And by
the way, you could go almost out to your top
thirty before you find another team that's in striking distance
(20:52):
of being ranked.
Speaker 3 (20:54):
Like that Big Kennedy four four and Saturday either not anymore.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
But Wisconsin the way back up a little bit.
Speaker 3 (21:02):
But they were twenty fourth when we played them.
Speaker 4 (21:05):
Sure, but I'm saying now looking at it like there's
not another team that's even Clay and Alway shouldn't have been.
By the way, the quote from Kate mcnamer this offseason is,
please keep on saying it's the crappiest I'm paraphrasing offense
in college football. Please just think we're going to be
so crappy next year. Please against that.
Speaker 2 (21:26):
About that, Sam, put that in your crop circle and
smoke it.
Speaker 7 (21:30):
But keeping how gonna one I'm not gonna let one game,
you know, to find the season it was the first
time they're shut out in twenty three years, which is
definitely shouldn't.
Speaker 3 (21:40):
That defense was really good, you know games that defense
is really good. I'm just saying it's really good. They're
really good. And and Drew Aller is the franchise, he's
continuing to improve his command, his his his arm talent
(22:00):
is I mean, when that ball comes out, it goes fast,
it's it's it is.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
It's a lot of talk for a thirty one nothing
ball game. We didn't get to anything else. We hadn't
college football. Well, we were trying to get to your ass.
Yours wasn't talking. So right, let's let's don't be getting
all shaky because y'all we tried to come to y'all
about y'all losing, and now you you don't want to
talk about us winning.
Speaker 3 (22:29):
Let's say about Iowa.
Speaker 4 (22:32):
I always got the chance to win more games because
of their byproduct of their schedule. You know, they don't
play another big ten legit, big tennis opponent the rest
of the year, so until that's.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
One more Aboudy in the championship round, you know, right,
which then they'll get drummed. They'll come back. Senators, back
to the champions.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
Enough about Penn stage by a week.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
Yes, yes, all right, talk about which I don't think
Iowa fans. I respect the fact that you're Iowa. So
that was not me saying that. That was Brady and
Jonas just shonas. Look, I'm not saying, Look, I was
not ranked. I mean, that's that's not an opinion. That's
a fact that they've they dropped out yesterday.
Speaker 4 (23:09):
They people, I'm not sure their wins over an Iowa
State team or Western Michigan or Utah State really are
deservedly of a top twenty five, and I think they
found that out.
Speaker 2 (23:19):
All right, can we get can we get to that?
Speaker 4 (23:22):
Can we move on from that one? I mean, there's
so many elements of this. I don't even know where
to begin. I'll say this, I had a chance to
go up for the game. It was one of the
coolest atmospheres I've been a part of, because if it
felt like one of those heavyweight, you.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
Know, college football playoff kind of matchups.
Speaker 4 (23:40):
That's why I can't wait for expansion, because that's what
you're gonna get in the first round. You're gonna get
that sort of home field environment like that. Now, granted
it's gonna be as cold as hell. But the truth
is it felt as as one of the bigger games
that like I've been at and been a part of,
which was pretty neat to see. And obviously the campus
(24:01):
has changed, everything changed since.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
I've been there.
Speaker 4 (24:03):
Like they've got a jumbo tron and they're pumping in
like crowds and crowd noise. They got a DJ and stuff,
not crowd noise, but like music throughout the game, like
none of that, None of that was there when I
was there. So it was a crazy, crazy environment, Like
it was three nothing in halftime, and I'm like, this
is the most unbelievable, like three nothing game I've been
(24:24):
a part of, where it just felt wild, like the
fourth downs and a couple of the calls that didn't
go Notre Dame's way, or a couple of plays that
Notre Dame made to stop Ohio State when they got
down on the goal line, Like it was a wild atmosphere.
And then there's the ending, which you know, it's one
thing when you get beat and you just flat out
(24:44):
get beat, like the team makes a play, they do something,
and they do something where where you're just like, yeah,
they were the better team that day.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
Ohio State was not the better team that day.
Speaker 4 (24:54):
There was multiple opportunities for Notre Dame to win that game,
whether a games only interception, obviously that the final you
know a couple of plays where you didn't have eleven
men on the field. I mean, you were that close
to stopping them on the final play with ten guys,
not even a defensive lineman on the side of on
that side of the line of scrimmage, Imagine if you
(25:15):
just had another body there, they're probably not getting in.
And so look, give give credit to Ohio State Coyle
McCord in particularly, who kind of helped drive them back down,
made a couple of big throws on that drive.
Speaker 3 (25:27):
But I talked about this in the pre game.
Speaker 4 (25:29):
My biggest concern was stopping Trevon Henderson in the running
and ultimately that that ended up being well, neither team
stopped the run. If we're being real, I mean had
taken out object estimate on Notre Dames final drive. I
was like, what are we doing here? But the truth
of the matter is give Aisle State credit. They found
a way to win that game. And that's what it
(25:51):
takes in the college football season, especially on the road
when you got to play a tough opponent. But look,
the Ryan Day comments that was bizarre, Like I've I
would say this in response to that, Like you're talking
about an eighty six year old man who they had
the nineteen eighty national championship team down there in the
field and they were helping to like hold coach Holts
(26:12):
up obviously given his health conditions and everything else.
Speaker 3 (26:15):
And do we have the sound for what we do?
Speaker 4 (26:18):
Let's play the sound and then I guess our listeners
can decide whether or it's warranted what Ryan Day said.
Speaker 8 (26:23):
Toughness, that's it, physicality across the board, finish it off,
having guts this.
Speaker 3 (26:29):
I like to know where lo Holts is.
Speaker 4 (26:30):
Oh, can we play the lou Holtz sound and then
we could play the Ryan Day sound. Do we have
the lou Holtz sound?
Speaker 2 (26:38):
I don't believe we have the lou holes sound?
Speaker 4 (26:40):
No, okay, yeah, well we have it. I guess We're
not gonna be able to put this together then the
way I'd like to. But look, we could play the
Ryan Day sound if people had a chance to go
back and listen to.
Speaker 3 (26:51):
What lou Holt said.
Speaker 4 (26:52):
He didn't say anything that no one else has ever
said or mentioned. And I'm not sure what Ryan Day thought,
like Lou Holtz wasn't gonna be biased. I mean, it's
just it was. It was kind of weird to me
him taking shots at him. And again, let's try again. Okay,
let's try again.
Speaker 9 (27:11):
And you look at coach Day and I coached at
Ohio State under what ages. We won the national championship
when I went there.
Speaker 3 (27:18):
You're not proud of that.
Speaker 9 (27:19):
However, he has lost to Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, Michigan twice
and everybody meets him does so because they're more physical
than the Ohio State and I think the other Day
will take that same approach.
Speaker 3 (27:39):
Well, now, now let's play the Ryan Day sound it
makes now, it makes more sense. Yeah, go ahead.
Speaker 8 (27:45):
Toughness, that's it, physicality across the board, finish it off,
having guts. Now, Like I like to know where Lou
Holtz is right now, what he said about our team,
what he said about our team. I cannot believe. This
is a tough team right here. We're proud to be Ohio.
It's always met Ohio against the world. It don't continue
to be Ohio against the world.
Speaker 3 (28:04):
I'll tell you what I love those kids who got
a tough team. I mean, yea ten every year. Well,
no they don't. They have won the last two and
in fact, I would I would.
Speaker 4 (28:15):
I would respond by just simply saying this, where's that
emotion after the last two years versus Michigan. That's why
I'm like, did hold on, did lou Holt say anything
that wasn't true about those previous losses?
Speaker 3 (28:29):
Like there wasn't anything that he said that wasn't true.
It was for TV. He's an eighty six year old man.
Speaker 4 (28:35):
Like this to me came off as Ryan Day looking
just bizarre from taking this emotional response after a big win,
Like that's your first words. You don't talk about like
your team, your players, anything that stood out to you.
You had a quarterback who you had to name as
the starter? Because how kind of I guess inconsistent I
(28:58):
look through camp in the early season. You don't want
to say, what about Kyle McCord and the job he did?
What about you know, our defense? What about Trayveon? Like
that's that's the angle you took to me. To me,
I stepped back and I was like, we were a
part of the High State Michig game every year, and
I haven't seen that sort of emotion and granted after
a loss, but it's like that's where you want to
(29:21):
save all that energy and emotion for to go off
on an eighty six year old coach who's no longer
a part of it anymore, like you're trying to find
him in the bar, like you trying to beat him
up because of what he said.
Speaker 3 (29:32):
It was bizarre. It was so odd to me. Man.
I would say, players come and go, but a legendary
coach is a legendary coach forever. So I bet you
he was offended. It sounded like he was offended by
what Lou Holts had to say about him. I mean, okay,
I'm not going I'm not going. I don't I'm not
going to go. As far as it was a bizarre though.
Speaker 4 (29:53):
Say anything offensive like what it was that offensive, I
think it was clearly offensive to him.
Speaker 3 (30:01):
I think it was offensive to him and that was
why he responded the way that he. I mean, if
if there's a guy that he probably is in the
coaching realm of legendary, like Lou Holtz is a legend
and and he takes a shot at you, I think
you would be offended by. I think that's not a shot,
that's just facts. I think he I think he might
(30:22):
have took it as it was a shot, even if
he was shooting facts at him. I think he took
it offensively. He clearly was offended by and I mean
I wouldn't say it go as far as to say
it was bizarre. I mean he he felt like it
was I've never seen it. That's an opinion.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
React to a guy someone on television who again, like
day prior, it wasn't like it was you know, it
was like all this the comments that he made, like
he's a part of Like it was like a it
was a Notre Dame event, if you will, when that
show is going to be on campus and they're like,
what did he think he was going to say? He
was going to go in there and say something like
(30:58):
he's rid for the buck. Guys like come on, dude,
Like it's some of this is made for TV too,
but you have to be understanding of that. So it's
just for that to be how you handle a post
game after a big win. That's what's surprising.
Speaker 3 (31:11):
It really was. Man, it's I think he's pushing a
narrative which I can't understand. Ohio State has been at
top of the Big Ten for a really really long
they haven't though they haven't for the last actual two years. Yeah,
but Q, they haven't won it the last two years
they've been at the top and Michigan and not even
(31:32):
really them in Michigan, it's been Ohio State.
Speaker 4 (31:34):
Like that's what it is. Well, Ohio State was the
Big Ten. It's so it's Ohio State. Michigan. It was
Penn State a year, MISSI, it's been Ohio State. It's
been Ohio State. And Ohio State may have not won
it every year.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
I get that, but they've been the team and and
so you can't act like it's us against the world
when when like I'm a Penn Stater, like everybody talks
Ohio State. If it's anybody, it should be anybody else
other than Ohio State saying it's us against the world.
It's not Ohio State the world.
Speaker 4 (32:11):
Let me say this in that regard, because when you're
on the losing side of that, like I've had countless
people come up and say, man, like feel for you guys,
We're rooting for you guys, And it's like there is
there does seem to be like a collective. Like man,
when when someone's playing Ohio State, there's people who just
want that team to beat Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (32:30):
Everybody wants Ohio State to lose. If you're not, everybody
wants them.
Speaker 4 (32:36):
To And being from Ohio, like that's where I think
that mentality comes from. Is like there's that like, hey,
Ohio against the world, Like no one wants us to win,
no one wants us to be here because they always
are winning. They're always winning again, not the past two years.
That's like Saint Alabama's the top desk.
Speaker 3 (32:53):
They're not winning the championship, but they are always the
ones to beat. I just I just know this.
Speaker 4 (33:00):
It's not Ohio against the world. It is not being
from Ohio. There's definitely that mentality, and I can I
can see why. So, I mean, it was like that
when the Calves were making their run.
Speaker 3 (33:12):
You know. It's like that at times where you see,
like you know, other teams try to make a run.
Speaker 4 (33:17):
I mean even back when the Guardians way back when
like you get a feel for that sometimes.
Speaker 3 (33:22):
Yeah, I have no sympathies for y'all at all. I
don't think it's y'all against the world at all, but
y'all could take it. Y'all got it.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and

whoa whoa that's the wrong tape, wrong tape. Just forget that. Look.

By the way, quick mention programming note. Later on tonight,
Double Barrel Action on Monday Night Football.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
It's back.
Speaker 2 (34:29):
It's back yet again. Eagles Bucks who.
Speaker 4 (34:33):
Cares you and Lee were in Colombia this weekend. I
know we didn't have time because LeVar the legendary IR story.
Can you guys touch on just that experience that we
can get to Monday night football and all that we've
got time to recap tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (34:47):
Lee physically was there, but Lee elsewhere was on another
planet like he was on that.
Speaker 3 (34:57):
Can you please clearify that he just put on a
show man, Lee, Can you clarify what?
Speaker 10 (35:05):
No, I need Jonas to Actually.
Speaker 3 (35:08):
You aren't even there.
Speaker 2 (35:10):
So I remember it was great. So Graduate Hotels, who
they're just tremendous through and through. They had their first
tailgate event of the season in Columbia, South Carolina. So
the event was Friday evening and it was awesome. And
so we'll have details obviously throughout the course of the
next several weeks where the next one is going to be.
I believe the next one is in Minneapolis. If you're
(35:32):
anywhere near Minneapolis and you can get out to it.
It's awesome, good time, good people, everybody involved. The people
the Graduate in Columbia, South Carolina could not ask for
a better staff, best hotel experience I've ever had in
my life. Not just saying that, because if we have
a relationship with them, that's the truth. And they're very
friendly and they'll offer you a drink or a cocktail
(35:56):
and just kind of hey, you know, you want to
hang out, and the left over to yeah, at least
not want to turn that stuff down.
Speaker 3 (36:04):
Very gracious. I've never seen turned out a drink.
Speaker 2 (36:07):
No, and uh he he proceeded to put on uh
what amounted to I believe, like a twelve.
Speaker 3 (36:17):
Hour run on Friday, Well about a twelve hour run.
Speaker 11 (36:21):
I would say, well, okay, so the show ended, and
then we, uh always do the post show nap is what.
I took a nap and then went down to the
state Capitol, State House, checked out, checked out downtown a
little bit.
Speaker 2 (36:37):
Well like, can I tell him what your first drink
order was? We walk we walk into this this like
sports bar, like kind of a pool hall, star dive bar.
It was called five Star Dive Bar. Keep in mind,
it's literally it's two in the afternoon and we walk
in there and I just get a beer and Leego's
(36:59):
beer and a shot Soco.
Speaker 3 (37:02):
Soco Southern take Shots of Southern comfort.
Speaker 2 (37:06):
Oh wow, he does.
Speaker 10 (37:07):
Now, I just saw it I was like, yeah, let's
go with that. Let's start the day right, jamb straight
and the Corona double absolute Martini.
Speaker 2 (37:14):
He just he will order anything, whatever he's feeling, whatever
he's feeling at the time, He'll just he'll just order
like he looks around and says, Oh, that'd be a
good idea Bean and tonic yingling Soco. He had a
froze that was the choice at the tailgate event for
Graduate Hotels. I mean, he really put on an impressive showing.
Speaker 10 (37:38):
My guy Ryan at the Graduate made a good cocktail.
I always just trusted Ryan with a with the nice mullet,
just asked him, Hey, Bud, what you got for me today?
Speaker 2 (37:48):
I went in the South drinks some soco?
Speaker 3 (37:50):
Right?
Speaker 2 (37:50):
He and I told I told Lee because I want
to say, is Halloween October thirty first? Is that a weekday?
Or will we be on the air, like what day
is October thirty first? Because it is a Tuesday, Okay.
I think Lee should come dressed as the big Lebowski
and we need clearance and approval. If we can get
(38:12):
him a ride and everything, can he drink white Russians
while we're doing the show. I think it would be
great content. We could get it on video, but the
full outfit, the big Lebowski ripping white Russians while we're
doing the show on a Tuesday.
Speaker 3 (38:29):
So so Columbia got a taste of the big Lebowski.
Is that what you're saying? Oh? Man, like I hate
the Eagles, man? Or better yet, Lee got a great
taste of South Carolina. This debt real great taste.
Speaker 2 (38:46):
So I FaceTime my wife because I take Lee into
the because the night before, on Thursday five points, I
went to this, Uh it was like a liquor store,
like a mini mart whatever. Is that what it was called?
Speaker 10 (39:00):
Well, the area was called five people.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
Yeah, but I don't remember the name of the place.
But we walk in there and I just ordered, like,
you know, four of those like giant fifty ounce waters
because you know Brady got a pound water.
Speaker 3 (39:10):
You know that works.
Speaker 2 (39:12):
And so Lee's making fun of me, calling me a
nerd and you're a.
Speaker 3 (39:16):
Door Lee, did you actually say this to him?
Speaker 2 (39:20):
Apparently? Yes, Lee, you don't remember that Thursday night, say Lee,
good for you, Lee, Okay, so good for you to
hold him accountable.
Speaker 3 (39:28):
All right?
Speaker 2 (39:29):
So Friday, he was I mean it was I said, Lee,
let's let's go in here. We'll get you some water, dude,
like you really need to like, let's you know, let
me just take care of you.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
I got it.
Speaker 2 (39:39):
And so we walk into the to the mini mart
and I'm like on FaceTime with my wife and Lee
walks into the shot and I point the phone to him,
and the look on her face was just shock and
disarray at what the hell happened to Lee. She looked
like she had seen a ghost who who was also
(40:01):
on drugs. She had no idea what was happening. She goes,
what's going on there? And I said, uh, just trying
to get lead back back to the hotel.
Speaker 11 (40:11):
Here's here's the thing you gotta know about Jonas too,
is Jonas is an instigator. Every time we walk into
a place, and as we're leaving a place, he's like,
too bad, you're too much of a wo's to get
another shot real quick?
Speaker 2 (40:22):
Is that what I say?
Speaker 3 (40:23):
Something else?
Speaker 10 (40:24):
You say something else? Lee will go don't tap me.
It's like I will if you will.
Speaker 3 (40:30):
It never does.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
But uh no, it was a good time. I mean,
and everything we've heard about Graduate hotels, it was just
a tremendous time. The staff again could not ask for
a better staff and everybody involved there can.
Speaker 3 (40:40):
Lead Jonas drink at all Jonas.
Speaker 10 (40:44):
Jonas doesn't really drink Jonas drinks, but he's.
Speaker 4 (40:47):
Like Jonas is a stick and the and mud not
even not even the mud, like in something different.
Speaker 2 (40:55):
I just sticked a beer.
Speaker 10 (40:56):
He sticks a beer, and he'll grab a drink and
like set it down somewhere else, and then it's like you.
Speaker 4 (41:02):
Don't, like, yeah, you drink everything hipster's drinks. You'll and
you'll want to talk to people about some triple distilled I.
Speaker 3 (41:08):
P a, that's true. Jon You're a schnob bro. What
is wrong with you? Snobby dude?
Speaker 2 (41:22):
I can't have a bucket of bud lights and be
left alone.
Speaker 3 (41:24):
When we when we do our graduate like steel, like
we're putting you to bid, bro, putting a freaking passive
fire in your mouth, and then the rest of us
men are going to go do manly things. Guys.
Speaker 4 (41:37):
I've only been out one time with Jonas one time.
That's by the way, it's not Super Bowl with you,
which is disappointing. Where Jonas got after it and I
remember walking outside and he was looking at me like
cross eyed, are you okay?
Speaker 3 (41:51):
He's like, yeah, yeah, I'll be fine. I was just
hoping you made it home. Okay that night? Did it
was great?
Speaker 2 (41:58):
Yeah, it was fine.
Speaker 3 (42:00):
But that was the extent of jonas ever, seeing him
get absolutely tuned.
Speaker 2 (42:04):
Up, composed, like to be composed, you know, that's the
way I am. Yeah, I'm not a blowhard like Dan Lanning.
You know, I'm not gonna like, all of a sudden,
you know, put on a show and a spectacle in
front of you.
Speaker 3 (42:16):
Know, put on a spectacle in the game.
Speaker 2 (42:18):
He sure did his pregame speech. What a blowhard? Oh
my god, come on, Like.
Speaker 4 (42:25):
What pregame speeches aren't when you take it out of context,
you know, Like I when you watch like a dude's
pregame speech, you're like, this is kind of weird, you know.
Speaker 3 (42:33):
But then if you're in that room, you're like, all right,
let's go on, do we have If I was an
Oregon dude, I would have loved that speech. Hell yeah,
that's what I'm saying all I'm all and and clearly
they responded to it. So LaVar would have been killing
people on the field. I would have been hit budding
lockers hearing that that pregame speech. No clicks, bitches, I
(42:59):
would have been I would have been so turned I
would have been turned up. Yeah, but let's hear it.
Speaker 2 (43:04):
Yeah, let's hear rooted in substance, got flash rooted in substance.
Speaker 6 (43:10):
Today we talk with our pats. You right, every moment
the Cinderella story is over, man, Right, they're fighting for clicks,
we're fighting for wins. There's a difference, right, there's a difference.
Speaker 3 (43:23):
Right. This game ain't gonna be playing in Hollywood. It's
gonna be played on the grass. It's gonna be playing
on the grass. Let's go now.
Speaker 2 (43:34):
Was he reading off the prompter? Was it above the camera,
below the camera there that he that was in the
room like making sure that this was filmed, Like, yo,
we're not We're not about clicks, but let me go
ahead and make sure this gets out and gets filmed.
Speaker 3 (43:45):
You don't think he was like talking to himself in
the mirror, like repeating, like what do you want.
Speaker 2 (43:48):
To say that?
Speaker 4 (43:50):
Like that's what I know, knew the whole world was
going to be. I mean, that's a recruiting deal too.
You know, it's a hooting tool. So he had to
get it right. You couldn't be like promptu on that one.
You you couldn't have been like freestyling that he had
to have reheard.
Speaker 2 (44:05):
Do you think he did multiple takes like.
Speaker 4 (44:09):
And here's here's to Levar's point, Like, here's how I
know that's the case, because there's no cuss words, like yeah,
if you're if we're being real about this before right
before the game, you would most coaches are gonna drop
a four letter word.
Speaker 3 (44:23):
Yeah, most most are gonna say something.
Speaker 4 (44:25):
But there's a four letter word and that stuff is
not making it to TV or making it to radio
if it does, like it was leaked and someone's in.
Speaker 3 (44:33):
Trouble in this case, that was by design. Yeah, yeah,
because and you didn't even hear nobody in the background
like I would have been in the background, like I
got it, like braveheart in that bitch y'all remember when
(44:54):
Latimer hit would have been going nuts and there would
have been at least two or three dudes going nuts, right,
yea all together like listening to that just and you
know what, he didn't have to say anything because the
the amount of energy surrounding playing. You know what what
(45:17):
Dion has created and for what it's worth, I know
Dion got up on the on the podium and said,
everybody's playing to beat me, and I don't play no more.
Speaker 4 (45:26):
No, they not just playing to beat you Prime, Like
I got to put this out there and and for
me and keep it in perspective. They want to beat
your players too. They want to beat your players. You're
not playing. But there's actually not one, not one.
Speaker 3 (45:41):
But two. There's two Sanders on on the field, not one,
not two. They're on both sides of the field.
Speaker 4 (45:47):
You call Travis Hunter, you're your son, so he's on
the field even though he wasn't this weekend.
Speaker 3 (45:52):
But they want to beat this team too. Like I think,
let's not get carried away on things. And everybody wants
to be Prime. Everybody wants not everybody. You don't want
to just beat Prime. They want to beat this team,
and they want to beat them physically because that's what's
been created, that element, that energy has been created. And
you wouldn't have had to say much to me if
(46:14):
I'm a guy that's going against Colorado at this point
because of all of the fan fear and all of
the attention and stuff like that, I'm gonna get mine today.
They watching this game, if they watching this game. You
know what that means. They gonna see me. That's how
I got discovered. That's how most players get discovered. You
go to watch someone else, you go to watch something else,
(46:35):
and somebody else catches your attention. That's how it happens.
So you don't need much. You don't need much of
those games. You just don't. Now. My question is does
USC take the same approach?
Speaker 4 (46:48):
Do they take the same approach this year or or
first off, the break's been knocked off and you just
approach it as another game. The only questions you have
about SC at this point in time is how soft
they're schedule has been. I think their combined opponents, their
records three and fourteen, they're like one in twelve versus
FBS teams. So the only question you have is, like
(47:10):
you've seen some of the improvements from Southern cal. We
know how good Cayleb Williams is, we know how good
their offense is, and Lincoln Riley Collen plays. It's really
become about their defense. And they haven't played anybody, I
mean anybody. That's no disrespect to Stanford. They're in a
transition here with with Troy Taylor, but they haven't played anybody,
(47:31):
and this offense for CU will test their defense to
a degree like this is one of the first tests
or maybe the first test SE's got all year.
Speaker 3 (47:41):
So I think it's gonna be a fun little back
and forth, like I really do.
Speaker 4 (47:45):
But man, those trenches, like that's what you saw, Like
you saw just domination up front. I mean when they
have seven sacks, I mean they were all over Shador.
They really couldn't do much and offensively organ basically did
whatever they wanted to do.
Speaker 3 (48:01):
I mean the fake, fake punt backed up like that.
