Speaker 1 (00:02):
It's the best of two pros and a couple of
Joe with Lamar Arrington, Rady Win and Jonas Knox on
Box Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Well, that was a goofy Sunday in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
Kind of weird.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Yeah, a little gun weird, a little wild, kind kind
of kind of a strange took the weekend off.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Huh. Yeah, they did, man.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
And the more I watch the Jets, the more I
get bummed out that Rogers isn't a part of it.
Because if Rogers is there with that defense, that's that
That's a scary proposition for anybody.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
In the AFC.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Yeah, absolutely, And so to see them yesterday get that win.
And I mean, I I don't know what the hell
Philly was doing throwing the ball there with howe many
times Jalen Hurts said turned it over and the strugglers
that they had, Why were they throwing the ball there
in that spot on third down? Why didn't they just
run it, punt the ball away and then force the

(01:05):
Jets to try and have to make it and make
something happen on offense when they haven't been able to
do it all game.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
You want that cue?

Speaker 4 (01:14):
You got it?

Speaker 3 (01:16):
I mean when I when I think about what took
place in that game and and what they were able
to do defensively, it still came back to me, what
was Zach Wilson going to do? And and and then
looking at what what the decision making was going to be,

(01:36):
it was still going to come back to would they
be able to generate enough offense with what was going
on out there? And they were. They were able to
generate enough offense. So then now I feel like the
question turned into how do we view Zach Wilson now,
because that's a that's a signature win. That's like if

(01:58):
he needed one, that was the signature win that Zack
Wilson needed.

Speaker 5 (02:02):
You know, I was told this by Jim Zorn back
when I was playing. There's three ways of grading quarterback play,
at least in his opinion.

Speaker 4 (02:10):
The first is, you know you're doing your job, but
you're doing your.

Speaker 5 (02:14):
Job poorly and you're impacting the result of the game.
So your team could be winning despite you, or you
could be the reason that your team's losing. You're doing
your job, but really you're not having an impact on
the outcome. You know, you could be doing your job
the way you're supposed to be doing but you're not
elevating the level of play of people around you to win.

(02:38):
Or in that case, you're doing your job, but you're
not the reason why your team's losing. And then you're
doing your job at such a high level that you
are the reason why your team's winning. And I would
say Zack wilson last two years was probably the first,
and then this year has now evolved and developed up

(03:00):
into the second where you know, you Jonas just said it,
the ground game and the defense give them a chance
and he's doing his job enough to be able to
help them and where he's not making these these backbreaking
mistakes and so that probably doesn't sound like a big compliment,
but they're in the reality it is. He's grown, he's developed,

(03:23):
he's playing much more like the quarterback. I think they
would hope he would be at this point, but maybe
you know, they hope to see this development a little faster.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
Yeah, I have a little bit of confidence in what
you're doing, but don't have so much confidence where you
f the game up. Like is that like is that
a fair assessment? Like Like yesterday, I.

Speaker 5 (03:42):
Would say that it's not about confidence, it's more it's
more about him just being able to not put his
team in adverse positions or making that mistake when we
look back and go, yeah, if there was a handful
of things he was involved in, three or four of
those handful of things.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
Yeah, I mean he didn't turn the ball over, you know,
the no turnovers. And although he didn't throw any touchdowns,
you know, and.

Speaker 5 (04:04):
He struggled on third down two at times, but but
again he did enough first second down at times to
be able to move the football to still give them
a shot.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Now you want to talk about confidence, Come on, Robert Sala,
Robert Sala.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
Did you see his face when the game ended?

Speaker 4 (04:20):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (04:20):
Man, Like that had to be the greatest fatily right.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
So Robert Sala post game, let's hear a little bit
from the Jets head coach.

Speaker 6 (04:29):
You know, through these first six weeks, we've played in
gone little quarterbacks. I know we haven't gotten all wins,
but we've embarrassed all of them. I think we can
go toe to toe with anybody. It says a lot
about this group and how mentally strong they are, and
how much they love one another and appreciate one another
and fight for one another. You know, we're going to
continue battling. We're going to continue to try to find
a way to write our story for this year. And

(04:50):
obviously winning this game going into the bie week is nice,
but we had a big win last year too. We've
got to come out of the bi week with even
more more intent and more of that mindset and continue
to find way to get better so we can finish stronger.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
How about that gaunt little quarterbacks. We've embarrassed all of them.
It's not that far off. I mean, look at the
quarterback quarterbacks they played. They've played well against those guys, right,
and plus Robert Sala had to love that being a
defensive guy yesterday to see the way that game played out,
Like you run the risk, you throw the ball on
third down, We're going to take it from you, just

(05:23):
like we had done several times in that game. That's
a huge win for the Jets. Man, and going into
the bye week.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
You know that everybody's really If you notice, the overload
defenses is becoming pretty prominent. It's like been a lot
of coverage at times, Like I say, early on, like
you're you're seeing defenses try to figure out how to
zone zone these passing games. But I think looking at

(05:50):
it now. It's it's like you're choosing the lesser of
the two. Do we give the quarterback enough time by
by being in coverage and take a chance on trying
to be in coverage where we can steal the ball
and have robbers, or do we just do we pressure him?
And I think what I saw this this weekend, just

(06:11):
from the defender standpoint, you've seen the good defenses start
to overload the offensive lines, like the different types of stunts,
but not only are different stunts with the defense front,
but what they've been doing, how they're using the linebackers
or how they're adding a safety, like they're adding one
too many guys for these guys a block like even

(06:32):
Boso on that game winning sack. You know, they overloaded
the line and it seems like they're they're getting good
success pressuring guys. The New York Jets did the same thing,
like they pressured Jalen Hurts. They made them uncomfortable and
they played some aggressive football. And that's, you know, to me,
that might be the new norm moving forward. It's going

(06:54):
you're going to see a whole lot like it's going
to turn even more into a seven on seven type
of environment, you're going to see a lot more man
to man because these these teams are going to start
trying to be more pressure driven rather than coverage driven.

Speaker 5 (07:09):
I thought, as much as we want to start off
with the Jets, it had more to do with Philly,
all right. I mean it's not often you see, you know,
Hurts turned the football over the way he did, and
some of those you know, missed opportunities. But the interesting
thing about the Jets is we saw Rogers too. He
was down on the field throwing. He's walking without a boot,

(07:31):
without crutches, He's six weeks following a torn achilles. He
is walking now, he's got a limp. But still that
is ridiculous. And if you look at where the Jets
are right now, if the playoffs starting today, they would
not be in Okay, the AFC playoff picks would be
Chiefs with the one seed, Dolphins with the two seed,

(07:53):
Baltimore three, Jacksonville four, Bill Steelers, browns now. I think
at ten is the Jets, but they're also sitting three
and three, tied with the Colts, who are right outside
of the playoff hunt. The Texans at three and three,
right outside of the playoff hunt. The Raiders at three
and three, right behind the Jets the Bengals at three

(08:14):
and three.

Speaker 4 (08:14):
I mean, you've got.

Speaker 5 (08:15):
A lot of you know, parody right now in the AFC,
and it's going to be interesting to see how things,
you know, go moving forward and if if there's any
shot whatsoever that Rogers could be ready in time to
you know, still have an impact on this season. I mean,

(08:35):
he said it, but it would be unbelievable if that
was possible. But if they could play five hundred football
until Rogers maybe given another.

Speaker 4 (08:44):
Six weeks, see what it looks like.

Speaker 5 (08:46):
I'm just saying, like it could be something special in
the back end of the season if Rogers could come back.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Could you imagine he came back in season same season
he ripped that thing first week or.

Speaker 4 (08:57):
That might be like the greatest accomplishment.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
Heard uh for the comeback player of the year.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
Yeah, there wasn't enough service time for him, you know,
didn't count as him participating this season.

Speaker 4 (09:13):
So yeah, man, those Dolphins making love.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
That's what he credits to.

Speaker 5 (09:19):
He he must be listening to a lot of those
dolphins making love.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
Now, Nick Sirianni, So you put the air phones on
his achilles tended. Yeah something, Susan.

Speaker 4 (09:32):
Man, what do you do? That sounds like I mean,
does Sam not have a dolphins drop?

Speaker 3 (09:36):
Yeah? Do you have a dolphin drop in the system? Sam,
No dolphin drop.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
We got a Nitney lion, but we don't have a dolphin.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
It's a Nitney lion week by the way. But easy
on that, damn now.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
Nick Siriani did discuss the decision to throw the football there, Brady,
As you mentioned, several mistakes for the Eagles. DeVonta Smith
had a terrible drop in that game, and Nick Sirianni
talked about just Jalen Hurts and the decision to throw
the ball and the late interception which led to the
go ahead and game winning touchdown.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
Here was the Eagles head coach.

Speaker 7 (10:13):
I'm gonna have to see that play again and see
if there was a something that flushed him out of
the pocket. He had to hold it for a take longer.
I'm gonna have to see what happened there. Looked like
they played some sort of cover four on that We
had that we had a completion on that play earlier
in the drive, you know, And then I'll have to
look at the tape exactly, you know, I know Jalen's

(10:35):
gonna want that play back. Obviously, I thought that was
pretty much the only turnover that was on him though,
just you know, he's you know, we need that, we
need that back in that critical time. He's gonna want
that back.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
We want that back.

Speaker 7 (10:47):
You know, if the play doesn't work, we're gonna look
at ourselves as coaches first and say was that the
right play? And then you know that's part about being accountable.
And I know Jalen's looking himself in the mirror as well.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
So there you go.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
There's some some reasoning the interception there, but nonetheless, the
New York Jets get it done, and Rogers.

Speaker 3 (11:04):
Listening to the reason for every mistake to.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
Dolphins having sex so that he can try and come
back sooner and save the season. Be fun, man, And look,
I mean there's gonna be people will probably throw out some.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
More dolphins like one of those one. Wow, the only one.
They're the only ones that do it for one They
do it for the pleasure of it, right.

Speaker 4 (11:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (11:26):
But here's the thing that I kind of almost disagree with.
If you've ever been to the zoo, man, you see
those chimpanzees.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
They're going wild in there on themselves.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
Yeah, depending on what time of the year, they definitely
do be like you right there. Yeah wait, wait, wait, no, no,
you're right.

Speaker 4 (11:42):
Tell me that's you can't tell me that's not about pleasure,
all right?

Speaker 2 (11:46):
Have you ever seen a tortoise go on it? It
seems like they're having a good time. I'm sorry, what
a tortoise?

Speaker 3 (11:57):
You never heard of?

Speaker 4 (11:57):
Tortoise? Bro?

Speaker 3 (12:00):
I just gave it to hold on, I just gave
it to you right there.

Speaker 4 (12:03):
But I'm saying that a tortoise is gonna.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
Bro a big ass tortoise. Here they go. Here's here's
the big ass tortoise.

Speaker 4 (12:17):
How How have both of you seen and heard this?

Speaker 2 (12:23):
Sweet?

Speaker 4 (12:24):
I am completely the.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
Dark looking up tortoises grow. It is the funniest as
you will hear. I mean, but and it goes to
your point though, that sounds like that slow ass turtle
is enjoying them, like like they don't do nothing else
with a whole bunch of energy. But that that groan

(12:45):
or moan that they let out during that time is real.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
My parents, my parents, for some reason, love desert tortoises,
and we always had them growing up, and these things
would get after it and it was I mean, they
were like the Michael Douglas of of animals. It's just
like whatever that happened, they weren't hibernating. I was going

(13:09):
to go down and they would make.

Speaker 4 (13:10):
These weird Michael Douglas.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
Well, you know, Michael Douglas is seemingly every movie he's
got a scene they're getting really you know, yeah, one
of those real aggressive scenes.

Speaker 3 (13:22):
He's super known for being really aggressive.

Speaker 4 (13:26):
Ye.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
Yeah, so so who does Maybe.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
Maybe it's that the tortoise. Yeah, it's so funny.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
It's weird.

Speaker 3 (13:45):
That's the fun that you get the ones they're like, eh.

Speaker 4 (13:54):
I mean, now I'm picturing like.

Speaker 5 (13:58):
Tortoise power picturing like the teenage mutant Ninja turtles, Like
this is what I like.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
That's a little bit. They're a little bit more ads now,
Like we're talking real like those nunchucks.

Speaker 4 (14:14):
Whoa Leonardo getting after it?

Speaker 3 (14:17):
Whoa that's what they meant by kung fu. Yeah, so
it is.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
Uh so that'll uh that's our look back on the
jets big win over the Philadelphia Eagles yesterday.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
It was not only a big weekend in the NFL,
as we've been discussing and we will continue to discuss
here on throughout the course of the show. It was
a big weekend in college football, specifically in South Bend.
They showed up about them fighting Irish there, Brady Boots
on the ground for the home I'm coming to serve
one up to the USC Trojans, and who's too I'm

(15:06):
talking about.

Speaker 4 (15:07):
Yeah, we had we had a bunch of guys come back.

Speaker 5 (15:09):
But it's it's you know, I'll say this as much
I know I'm biased, that that atmosphere when they do
a night game like that, man, it is unbelievable. It
is so different from when I was there. I mean,
now they've got like a legit scoreboard, and the way they
got a DJ down there, Like the way they pump
in music, and like the whole light show from the

(15:30):
third to fourth quarter, fireworks afterwards, like coming out into
the stadium just to start it.

Speaker 4 (15:37):
It's just it's so different and it's so well done.

Speaker 5 (15:41):
Like everything Notre Dame does when they rebuild these buildings
and create these new arenas and stadiums, they just do
it so well. And it was cool, man, I'll and
I think the cool thing for me is and this
is like the one thing I'd say as I was
taking some people around campus and the Basilica and the
grotto all these kind of you know, different places. Is

(16:03):
a lot of folks in Notre Dame. They're so happy
to share like what it is with everyone because it's
it's bigger than just like a school or you know, football.
There's like a spiritual element to it, and so that
they're so inviting and they're so happy to tell you
about the history of the Basilica or the history of

(16:24):
the school and the university and you know how we
got where we got and so it's just it's such
a such a neat place and the people there are fantastic.

Speaker 4 (16:33):
They were so hospitable. And look, then the game was
the game.

Speaker 5 (16:37):
I mean, you know, look that game went probably not
how many people thought it would go, because that was
an absolute butt kicking from start to finish. And the
kid who's the Renning Heisman Trophy winner, who I'm not
going to say it was painted on his nails, but
he played about us. That might have been the worst
game of his career, but I think there's deserves to

(17:00):
be a lot of credit to Xavier Watts. The way
he played, two intercessions, a fumble return for a touchdown,
seven tackles. He was awesome. But also Al Golden, their
defensive coordinator. I mean, he just had a great game plan.
About half the pat his dropbacks for Caleb Williams, he
was getting pressured on. So just a dominant, dominant performance

(17:21):
by Notre Dame. And I think the tough thing is
as a two loss team because we have never seen
a two loss team getting the playoff. They're out of
the playoff contention for this year. A year like next year,
they're going to be probably a part of it as
far as a twelve team playoff.

Speaker 3 (17:37):
I know this, they single handedly may have caustic Caleb
Williams the Heisman trophy. So it's thank you Notre Dame
for doing that. You know, we definitely wanted I wanted
to see him get it two times in a row,
but that's I don't know how you can receive the
Heisman after that type of performance. I mean it was

(17:58):
such a masterfull game playing by Al Golden and this
this Notre Dame defense. I mean I was super impressed.
You know, he's always found a way to pull it through,
but it just kept getting worse, like he kept turning
the ball over critical turnovers, I mean critical errors. It

(18:23):
just they did such a great job defensively against USC,
I mean it was it was truly a dominant performance.
Just watching it.

Speaker 2 (18:31):
That scene when they turn the lights out in the
stadium and people are holding their phones or whatever those
lights are, I look like firefhones in the crowd is
just awesome just the way and you just see sort
of it's completely dark, it starts to light up. Like
just that whole presentation was awesome and awesome to get
to see. Now was how did Matt Lioner get treated?

Speaker 4 (18:53):
There?

Speaker 2 (18:54):
Were they busting his balls pretty good? On Big New
kick Off?

Speaker 4 (18:56):
Yeah, pretty good? Pretty good? They had some like the
signs were good.

Speaker 5 (19:00):
I mean it was not a great crowd with I'll
be honest with like the weather. I mean, bro, it
was like forty degrees and raining and I say raining
like flooding, Like I feel bad that that whole grass
area like if you stepped in it, like your your
shoe was getting stuck.

Speaker 4 (19:17):
Like it it rained all night all morning.

Speaker 5 (19:20):
It was it was a tough that's the worst weather
we've ever attempted to a show in. But there were
still some fans out there that did have some pretty
some pretty crazy signs. Like one had like a it
said ninety degrees and it showed a picture of like
a ninety degree angle. The next one said forty five
degrees that it showed a forty five degree angle, and

(19:42):
then it said worthless degrees usc. It was like there
was one that said Catholics don't need Trojans, which appear
they they made him take it down.

Speaker 4 (19:54):
They did allow them to have that one.

Speaker 5 (19:56):
Yeah, there was there was a lot of there's a
lot of pretty creative signs in there. You know, you
can't spell usc with that, or you can't spell sucks
without usc. Just different little ones in there. It was great.

Speaker 3 (20:07):
That's awesome. Yeah, can I ask you a question off
topic a little bit, but just listen to what you
just said. What if the weather is like in clement,
like to the point of like, yeah, for you guys,
what do you do, What's what's the contingency.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
I mean, well, it was brought up earlier in the week.

Speaker 5 (20:24):
Someone had brought up the point that we could be inside,
and it was mixed. It was shot down because apparently
our set itself is supposedly good through.

Speaker 4 (20:36):
Lightning and everything.

Speaker 5 (20:37):
Oh now, I don't know how that's possible, but at
least the set itself is supposedly safe under those sorts
of conditions. I mean, maybe not a hurricane or like
a tornado, but at least, you know, lightning.

Speaker 4 (20:52):
So we're out.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
There, a lot of guard doctors, you're sitting on there.

Speaker 5 (20:57):
Yeah, and that's why I'm like, it's just thing grounded,
Like does it get struck by lightning?

Speaker 4 (21:01):
Like I fel like this whole thing is about ready
to go up and flames.

Speaker 2 (21:04):
So it was worse conditions than at ann Arbor a
couple of years ago when you guys were.

Speaker 4 (21:12):
That was just cold.

Speaker 3 (21:13):
That was just cool.

Speaker 2 (21:13):
This is soggy, rainy cold.

Speaker 5 (21:16):
It was raining like into the set, like it was
like a that was like blowing like into the set.

Speaker 4 (21:20):
Like oh, back was all wet gloves. Yeah, that's what
I'm trying to say.

Speaker 5 (21:26):
Man, it was it was not it was It was
pretty uncomfortable for a lot of people out there now.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
I don't know if you had a chance to uh
to take in that shootout between Washington and Oregon. That's
one of the better, one of the better games you'll
ever see. That was fantastic television to watch.

Speaker 4 (21:44):
I don't know about that.

Speaker 5 (21:45):
I thought it was some terrible management on the fourth downs.
I just it's becoming an issue now. It's becoming an
issue now. These teams wanted to go for fourth down
and chasing points. Oregon gave up what should have been
an easy field goal at the end of the first half,
which Washington won thirty six thirty three, and instead they

(22:07):
kept putting them themselves within a position with their chasing points.
And I know at one point and then and I'm
jumping into the lead in the second half, but I
just think we've gotten so like over analytical about the
whole fourth down deal, and they should have really scored
on third down but next to a terrible pass and
then the fourth down call was awful. But like, that

(22:30):
was one of those instants where I felt like you
had the chance to get some momentum and instead of
getting some and getting three at least going in the halftime.
You gave washing all the momentum at home. That's got
a factor in at some point.

Speaker 3 (22:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
And Dan Lanning was saying at halftime, He's like, wow,
you know we're going to be aggressive. That's who we
are going to be aggressive. It's okay, Well you could
be aggressive. You just got to be smart about when
you're aggressive. I didn't think that was the time and
place to go chasing points.

Speaker 3 (22:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
So that was a fun one. And by the way,
you mentioned the heisman, Michael Pennix near is your favorite
right now?

Speaker 4 (23:01):
To when eyes it's pronounced Panix right?

Speaker 3 (23:04):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (23:05):
Okay, some of the shows seem to pronounce some of
their way out there.

Speaker 2 (23:09):
What do you mean?

Speaker 3 (23:10):
Okay, how else would they?

Speaker 2 (23:13):
Did somebody screw that up? Oh wait, wait, IgA, I
know what you're talking about. Okay, yeah, you're catching on now, Yeah,
I got you. Yeah, catching what you're throwing. Ah. Well, listen,
people make mistakes. You know.

Speaker 3 (23:24):
It's tough to do all the time. Yeah, it's tough
to do. Well, I want it's your job to get
it right. You should probably work to get it right though.

Speaker 5 (23:32):
Well, I think you've got a chant it, you know, like,
if you're going to say, you know, big penix energy. Yeah,
you know, you probably should pronounce it the proper way.

Speaker 3 (23:42):
Yeah, I mean, but if they're saying it that way,
maybe they mean it that way connected.

Speaker 4 (23:49):
Maybe them, or maybe they just don't study up. I'm
not sure what it is.

Speaker 5 (23:55):
You either you either made such an egregious mistake you
want to say it that way right and like you're trying.

Speaker 3 (24:01):
To write, or you just didn't.

Speaker 4 (24:03):
You just don't.

Speaker 3 (24:04):
Oh, man, I must say they did it on purpose,
you think so.

Speaker 4 (24:10):
I don't.

Speaker 5 (24:11):
I don't get it anymore. Man Like it's like everyone's
doing stuff for shock value.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
Yeah. It's a gutsy move, right, you know, very real gutsy.

Speaker 4 (24:21):
Yeah real. I feel like I feel like if I
was to say something like that, I would not be
on air.

Speaker 3 (24:27):
You probably would. No. Then again, I don't know that
maybe they wouldn't have thought they heard you say it,
because that's just not something that they would expect to
come from you.

Speaker 5 (24:37):
Well, when you're yelling it like over and over and
over and over again, like it's a little different.

Speaker 3 (24:45):
That is. I would agree a chant of big energy is, yeah,
I would agree, it would be a tad bit agreeious.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
I prefer big noon kickoff. That's what I prefer. Oh right,
so me too, you know, that's why I try to
keep it.

Speaker 5 (25:02):
I do a calling, by the way, and uh, they'll
be like big kickoff noon.

Speaker 4 (25:07):
There's a big dune.

Speaker 5 (25:09):
Like they kind of mess with the name the way
they go about saying it, And it is kind of
funny to hear different ways people like distort it.

Speaker 3 (25:15):
But I think it's funny how tall you and Matt
are and how Mark sits in between y'all. You could
clearly see way more of him than you can. And
you guys, cause y'all got to even up and ballance
out like y'alls. Yeah, y'all's head space. That's by the way.

Speaker 5 (25:36):
That's something I've never understood, like how they feel like
for the camera shot, the heads have to be even.

Speaker 3 (25:42):
God, I.

Speaker 5 (25:45):
Know, but when I do games, I've been with shorter
play by plays where they'll stand on a box so
it's even, and I'm like, dude, you see this guy's
belt buckle right, Like that's not short, Like it's okay
to showcase the fact that I played, and I'm bigger
than a guy who's calling the game or like a
host or something like that's okay.

Speaker 4 (26:04):
I was like, I never understand that whether it makes
such a big.

Speaker 3 (26:07):
Deal, it's amazing, but I can I can only see
a Q and Mate La pals, but I do enjoys. Yeah,
great show. They probably should have had a bigger guy
in between, y'all, like somebody who played defense and you know,

(26:29):
you know defense an think of I don't know, a J. Hawker,
what do you think? I mean, that would be a
good one. Now, but you know, you still want to
have some inclusion, you know what I mean. You want
to have some a little bit of splash up in there.

Speaker 4 (26:43):
You know, what was this called LeVar?

Speaker 3 (26:45):
You know, I'm just saying. I mean, I like when
Charles Woodson was there, you know, but it probably could
have been somebody who you know, could have probably probably
who else, I don't know what I mean. Who do
you have a saying? They got it right one time?
I mean they do morning radio together, you know what
I mean. I mean, they've seen that have good chemistry.
It's not very many people that can keep up with
Brady Quinn. I'll tell you that. Yeah, you know what

(27:07):
I mean, I hear you. I'm just saying, you know,
it would have made a lot more sense. I'll tell
you what.

Speaker 4 (27:14):
You need to hit up Dave, Dave, this happen there?

Speaker 3 (27:19):
Yeah, No, that's all right, Yeah No. I like Mark.
I like Mark. Yeah would have been better though.

Speaker 2 (27:25):

Speaker 8 (27:56):
By the way, did I hear correct that Matt Liinert
will be in a Leprechaun costume next week?

Speaker 5 (28:02):
All right, I'm gonna put this out there publicly now, Eddie,
because this is such a usc move, Like Reggie would
bet me money on games, like he still owes me
on under bucks from Notre Dame u n C.

Speaker 4 (28:14):
Like three years ago, never paid never paid it.

Speaker 5 (28:17):
So we make that bet on air, and Matt literally
after the games, Oh, I'm not wearing the I'm not looking.
I was like, well, you made a bet on national television. Bro,
like I was gonna wear the whole little stupid Trojan outfit.

Speaker 4 (28:29):
And he's like, I'm not.

Speaker 5 (28:30):
I'm like, well, I mean, you could handle whatever you want, man,
but you're being a sore loser.

Speaker 3 (28:34):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (28:35):
So we'll see, we'll see.

Speaker 3 (28:37):
Hmm. That would be disappointing if he did not fallow. Yeah,
I mean I.

Speaker 2 (28:43):
Had to, but kind of expected though.

Speaker 3 (28:45):
I had to put on a don't make the bet
I had to do. I had to put on Ohio
state stuff when I bet by what was Beanie Wells.
We did a show, we did a call, and I lost.
He would have had to put my letterman jacket on.
I would have had to put on a Ohio State poncho.

(29:06):
I said, I'd rather be wet out here than put
on Ohio State pancho. And that's what led to the bet,
and then we lost. I put the poncho on. I
ripped it off like Superman or the Hulk, but I
did put it on. I did. I was with you
guys that day and Columbus. Yeah, I came on loose. Yeah,
give it, lose, real loose, lose. I hope he got lose. God, dang, Sam,

(29:33):
I know I'm loose all the time. Seven eleven, maybe
the the pain will have subsided by that time. I sure,
I sure hope, sir.

Speaker 1 (29:48):

Speaker 4 (30:06):
Well you don't know is for my entire life.

Speaker 8 (30:08):
I have lived in something I refer to as the
Great Depression anxiety. So now I'm coming out with a
new podcast, Unbreakable, a mental health podcast with Jay Glazer,
where each week, while we talk about mental health, I
hope to describe it, give it words. Listen to Unbreakable

Speaker 2 (30:30):
So the seventy two Dolphins can relax another year. Yeah,
you know, pop the champagne. You know everybody celebrate your
perfect season is still intact. The Jets take care of
the Eagles, the Browns take care of the forty nine ers,
and so now we're looking around going, well, that was

(30:52):
kind of a weird day in the NFL. But it
does bring up the question, if you guys had to
right now, you walk up to a sports book, probably
a DraftKings sportsbook, and you got to lay one hundred
dollars on the line of your hard earned money, and
you got to pick one team to win the Super Bowl?
Who's your pick right now?

Speaker 4 (31:11):
If you had to, I'd still pick San Francisco.

Speaker 3 (31:15):
Okay, lbar, I'm going with the Chiefs. I'm going picked
them before anyway.

Speaker 2 (31:21):
I think I'm gonna go with the Chiefs too, Like
they're just it feels like this is the same thing
that happened last year, where it just it was almost
kind of under the radar, and well, you know, the
offense is this, and you know, maybe Patrick Mahomes, you know,
missus Tyreek Hill more than we thought, and then they
just keep winning games, getting by, getting by, getting by.

(31:42):
Now you look atop the league and they're sitting there
at five and one with tied for the best record
in the NFL, and I know the offense hasn't been
lights out, but with the way the defense is playing,
like Kansas City just still finds themselves at the top
of the heap. And I don't know what to make
of the AFC because.

Speaker 5 (31:59):
Since I mean there since nat he's three and three,
and I think you'd have to admit, like they have
not played.

Speaker 4 (32:07):
Their best football.

Speaker 3 (32:08):
They're kinding ways.

Speaker 5 (32:10):
Not even close, and so it's scary to think that
if they start to put it together and play really
well in the second half the season, like, look out
for them if they get hot. Yeah, it's been so
like this past Sunday was that example of on any
given Sunday, any team could be in any team.

Speaker 3 (32:28):
I just think the whole physicality of what we saw
out of the AFC this weekend was kind of I
don't know if it was coincidental, but you had the
Jets out physical Philly, you had the Browns out physical,
the forty nine ers. I mean, it's just you you're

(32:53):
seeing some some correlations here where I don't know, like
and if you're looking at San fran as the most
physical team at least on the NFC side, But I
mean you could have. I mean, you still could put
them in the argument as most physical even in the league.
But they got out physical by a Cleveland Brown's team,

(33:16):
and it just makes you start to rethink it all,
like what teams can handle the physicality of other AFC
teams if it's an AFC team, and what teams can
handle it if they're an NFC team. Like I think
we're starting to see that the Detroit Lions are probably
for real. Yeah, Like their physicality is that of what

(33:39):
you would see from an AFC team. Lines are three
and zero on the road, you know. I think you
can say the same thing about the Niners, even though
they got out physicaled on Sunday. I think you could
probably throw the Philadelphia Eagles in there as well. But
then you look at the AFC. The team that I
think is built to handle physicality and dish physicality but

(34:00):
maybe not be the most physical of them all is
Kansas City. I think they're built to be able to win.
They've continued to show that they're built to be able
to find ways to win. Now they've had some help
because they've had some pretty big helpful calls at the
end of games or non calls, but nonetheless, they still
have found the ways to win games. You know, they've

(34:21):
earned that respect.

Speaker 2 (34:23):
You know, it's like it's like a star player in
the NBA who gets the star treatment.

Speaker 3 (34:26):
That was not getting start. That was not a foul,
you know, that was a foul. That was a foul.

Speaker 2 (34:34):
About Yeah. By the way, what do we make of
the Baltimore Ravens. I can't figure it out. I don't
know either. I don't know if they're good or and
and the fact that they won that game and covered
yesterday I was I thought we were going to get
screwed on that one. I thought Tennessee was going to
score the touchdown and then we'd be in trouble.

Speaker 5 (34:53):
But you know, it helps with Malik Willis, for whatever reason,
doesn't run out of bounds when it's right there, right there.

Speaker 4 (35:00):
It could stop the clock, but it's not.

Speaker 2 (35:03):
So that definitely helped. But I just I look at
Baltimore and I go same thing with Cincinnati, Like, I
don't know the Baltimore's played their best football yet or
maybe this is just what they are, but it just
feels like something's missing there and I don't know what
to make about it. It was a tough spot and
you're going to you're traveling and playing internationally. But I
just I come away from watching Baltimore games going, man,

(35:25):
it feels like they should be doing more.

Speaker 3 (35:28):
There's more there.

Speaker 2 (35:30):
So it almost feels like they're in the same spot
as the as the Cincinnati Bengals in that division, with
the Pittsburgh Steelers just sitting by watching everybody play.

Speaker 3 (35:38):
You know, just think it's up for grabs right now.
Isn't that what you would want to see? Like, I
don't know that perfect, Yeah, I don't know that. It's
just clear like here are your two teams and the
rest of them, Like we might have thought that for
a moment, but I just think that there's a lot
of parody going on right now, and you don't know
who's exactly going to pan out to be the team

(35:59):
like we said. I mean, you look at the Bengals,
they're finding ways to win, but they're not playing up
to their highest potential. I feel the same way about
Kansas City right now. You know, you can look at
some of these other teams. I mean, the Steelers are
in number one, but are they at their full potential?
Have they hit their ceiling? Will Will they go in

(36:21):
a different direction versus staying atop of the north. What
are the Baltimore Ravens? You know, what are the LA Chargers?
We'll find that out tonight. And for what it's worth,
I think it's one of the most I think they
got it right on this Monday night matchup because I
think this is a mega big game. What are the
what are the Dallas Cowboys? What are we going to

(36:43):
find out about them? Because let me tell you something,
that defense was Stutley the week before with with the Chargers.
So coming into this game, you're you're riding some some
good momentum. Alvin Matc got got got right out there, Khalil,
excuse me, I was I was in the program right there.

(37:04):
I was in the program. He was playing like Alvin
matt that's for certain. Uh So Khalil gets on track,
and and you're looking at a team that has a
whole lot of purpose and a whole lot of reason
to want to whoop Dallas's ass. So I think there's
just a lot of intriguing storylines. That's a big one

(37:24):
to determine. You know what we're seeing in the directions
of where these two teams.

Speaker 2 (37:29):
But thank God for bad teams, because at least you
know who the bad teams are. At least you've got
some clarity and some understanding. Carolina and Carolina is a
bad team. They're not very good, but that shouldn't be
I guess the biggest surprise that's a rebuilding situation. The
Broncos are terrible. The Arizona Cardinals play hard, but there's
just can't win it.

Speaker 3 (37:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (37:48):
Uh, and the Patriots are atrocious.

Speaker 3 (37:52):
That that name keeps popping up, the one, that one
is the gift that keeps on giving right now, the
Patriots is to keep im popping up.

Speaker 2 (38:00):
Well, because I think every like there were so many
teams and fan bases that were the Patriots doormat for
twenty years.

Speaker 3 (38:08):
Then they get it allah.

Speaker 2 (38:09):
Yeah, they gotta get it all back, go get it back.
They got to get it all back. I just I
don't know, man, This is easily the worst era. I
would say the worst time in Belichick's Patriots era as
far as just the past couple of weeks and then yesterday,
whatever the hell that was that they rolled out.

Speaker 3 (38:28):
Against the Raiders was just brutal. They were so excited too,
by the way, to win against the Patriots. I had
so many on some of those those And by the way,
I have a buddy that coaches on on on the
Raiders coaching staff, so buddy, he never he never puts
text in the text messages we're talking about the Raiders,

(38:52):
but he did. He put something in there yesterday though.
It was pretty funny.

Speaker 2 (38:57):
Why did they Why do you think they went to
Hoyer not Aidan O'Connell when Jimmy.

Speaker 4 (39:03):
That was an interesting question.

Speaker 5 (39:05):
Yeah, I didn't feel like after the one loss, like
McDaniels kind of put it on Aidan O'Connell.

Speaker 4 (39:10):
He played pretty well.

Speaker 3 (39:11):
Just trying to figure out if there's heat there, if
there's a like.

Speaker 4 (39:14):
What you think there's a little heat.

Speaker 3 (39:15):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (39:16):
Just like I saw Brian Hoyer go in the game
and I was like, oh, man, Josh mc daniels really
wants to win this game, like this is really important.
He's got to keep his perfect record against Belichick, So
he really wants to win this game because otherwise, why
wouldn't you put Aidan O'Connell in, Like he played well
in the preseason, He wasn't that bad in the lone
start he got Just felt like that would be the move,

(39:37):
and instead Brian Hoyer trots out there and they go
deep the first play.

Speaker 3 (39:41):
I just I just wonder, you know, was this just.

Speaker 2 (39:43):
Because he really really had to beat Belichick again? Like
it meant that much to him? You know, maybe Brian
Hoyer knows, you know, knows what's going on on the
sideline more so than anybody else. So what I don't know.
I'm just saying I just felt like this that that
meant a lot to Joshuack Danias yesterday and the Raiders
five hundred.

Speaker 3 (40:01):
How about that? Yeah, not as bad as it seems
in Las Vegas.

Speaker 2 (40:07):
So if you're if your buddy's on the coaching staff,
could you text him right now.

Speaker 3 (40:12):
He's probably still loved. Was he probably nice?

Speaker 2 (40:13):
Slots? Nice playing a slot machine somewhere getting some sleep,
if you could ask him, like why Aidan O'Connell was
passed up?

Speaker 3 (40:22):
Definitely going to ask. Yeah, I asked. I should have
asked when he put bang bang Raiders Raiders Nation bang bang,
that's what we got. I don't know, Well, you thank you.
Let mean tell me you tell.

Speaker 4 (40:36):
Us one questioning it.

Speaker 5 (40:39):
I mean, Lawyer's got a lot of experience and he
obviously is playing against Bill Belichick and the Patriots, and
maybe there's a little bit more there as far as
knowing the defense, knowing what he's going to get from
the Patriots.

Speaker 4 (40:52):
I mean, that's more how I saw it.

Speaker 5 (40:54):
I mean, I would rather play a veteran than a
rookie against all that twice. Now, It's not like like
Cleveland didn't play dtr they played PJ.

Speaker 4 (41:04):
Walker end up getting a win.

Speaker 5 (41:07):
I mean, Raiders didn't play Aidan O'Connell en. They're playing
Brian Horr got to win. I just I think if
you can, like you rely on the experience of an
older player, not putting you in a position where you
may fail or they may make a backbreaking mistake.

Speaker 3 (41:23):
Is it concerning that the way Jimmy Garoppolo went down,
it didn't look very valid. It didn't look like horrible.
It just looked like he hit the ground, you know,
and then he gets up and it's like his back
is through. Like is that should that be concerning the hospital?

Speaker 4 (41:45):
Right?

Speaker 3 (41:45):
Right?

Speaker 4 (41:46):
That's the thing I don't get is like, what's he
going to the hospital for.

Speaker 3 (41:50):
I mean, just seeing the play and the way it
played out, it was just like, what did he do
what happened. He didn't hit the ground very hard. Now,
he might have hit it maybe a little awkwardly, Like,
but I mean you you do you have been seen
out with adult stars. I mean I've seen more physical

(42:13):
moves and and and those arenas then point in that moment.
I'm just saying his body has to be acclimated to
having physical contact more than that. And you know they
stretch beforehand. I mean a lot of stretching.

Speaker 2 (42:30):
Yeah, so that's it's a great point, a whole lot
of stretching. By the way, speaking of injuries, the report
is justin Fields has a dislocated right thumb or dislocated
it in the game yesterday.

Speaker 3 (42:41):
So they're waits a career. Yeah, dislocated what Oh it's
over there, dislocated career? Is that what you said?

Speaker 2 (42:49):
Yeah, it is that they're that'll do it? Uh, they're
so bad?

Speaker 3 (42:55):
Why they's so bad? Man? I mean, and it looks
like they be trying, like you'd be watching the games
and defense be flying around a little bit like it's
like they be trying. But it's just meant for them
to be really bad. Hey bye.

Speaker 2 (43:08):
By the way, the Vikings Brady still in it.

Speaker 4 (43:11):
All right, Like, yeah, we got that win.

Speaker 3 (43:13):
They got to hang around.

Speaker 4 (43:14):
They hanging around?

Speaker 3 (43:16):
Is it a pulse, Yeah, it's.

Speaker 5 (43:19):
I did feel like there's a number of teams that
like luck was kind of on their side, Like I
don't know if Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, and Trent Williams
are healthy of Cleveland wins that, you know, like even Chicago.
I think that was a more more competitive game of
Fields is able to play and finish the game, given
how he's played the last two weeks. It just seemed

(43:40):
like for a lot of these games, we're like, yep,
that was about right, Like someone's got to get injured.
That's going to play an impact in the outcome of
this game.

Speaker 2 (43:48):
Yeah, it was. It was an interesting day in the
NFL yesterday. It's going to be an interesting matchup coming
up later on tonight.
