the way, Albert Breer will be joining the show coming
up next hour, and so that'll be a little bit interesting,

(01:36):
a little bit dicey here, because Albert likes to subtlely
talk a little trash before big matchups. So with Penn State,
Ohio State going down in Columbus, you know, we'll see
how that shakes out, you know, just saying we're inching
closer to the.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
Big game, we are getting closer.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
You're getting nervous.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Far I talked to coach frank yesterday. I'm not nervous.
I'd be nervous. I think I think it's a really
really good group of dudes, like like extraordinary bunch of guys.
Man Like, collectively, everybody understands what what the mission is.
And you know, in a day and age, Coach Franklin

(02:16):
raised this point yesterday, and I thought it was pretty cool, Like,
you know, we live in a day and age where
if you're if you're for five star, if you're a
guy that's really really good, that's talented, that's coming off
of the bench they generally might leave these days. So
it's hard to build a team that has really really
good depth, you know, it's it's it's just it's a challenge.

(02:37):
And and this group they not only have built it,
this is probably the deepest team I've seen them have.
I mean, they may have had some players that may
have been better, like you know, obviously the Saquon Barkley era,
Michael Parson's being there, But this this group, they're They're

(02:59):
two three deep man pretty much at every position. So
I'm not nervous. I feel pretty confident about where we're at.
I feel good about it.

Speaker 5 (03:08):
Yeah, I think it should be a great matchup. Like
that's what I'm almost excited to see. If you look
at the strengths. I mean, this Penn State team, I
know they haven't played anyone, like everyone's made a big
deal about their schedule outside of Notre Dame.

Speaker 6 (03:21):
Like I don't know.

Speaker 5 (03:21):
I guess Ohio State played Maryland. Maryland's had a decent record.
We'll see how they finished this year. I mean, they're
a little more tested. But it just it seems like
you think this is a great matchup with the way
Penn State can cover on the outside, how they can
rush the passer, how they run the football.

Speaker 6 (03:39):
And then the one thing we haven't seen is the
downfield passing game.

Speaker 5 (03:42):
That's just you know, it's not an opinion, it's just
more facts like Drew Aller has thrown five balls over twenty.

Speaker 6 (03:48):
Five yards the entire season, like air yards.

Speaker 5 (03:52):
And so that's one element that I'm curious to see
if it all of a sudden is going to be
unleashed in this matchup, maybe because you have to a
little bit, but also because he's got the ability, they
have the receivers to do it.

Speaker 6 (04:04):
They've just been kind of quiet so far, so.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
I don't know if they've been more battle tested outside
of the Notre Dame game. I mean, yeah, no, I
mean Maryland.

Speaker 6 (04:15):
I was not bad. I mean I was not.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
We don't consider a game. I mean, we don't consider
Maryland a game. Though we don't. I don't trust me,
noone else to pretend. Yeah, I don't consider it in
the game. So unless they say they've been battle tested
by playing Maryland, it shouts out to Maryland. I love
Maryland to death, but I'm just saying I wouldn't consider
that a game.

Speaker 4 (04:37):
So I don't know.

Speaker 6 (04:39):
I mean, well, Penn State's I can believe he has
to go to Maryland this year.

Speaker 4 (04:42):
Yeah, we do.

Speaker 6 (04:43):
That's like a home find out firsthand about that one.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
Yeah, I relax, that's that's a that's a home game.

Speaker 5 (04:48):
I'm just saying, I'm telling you they're better than you're
giving them credit.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
Right now.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
I know Maryland real well, I know, I'm okay, all right, yeah,
I know pretty well.

Speaker 5 (05:00):
Sure you can name many people outside of ti lea
Tounguebailoa so.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
T lea tongue.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
I know, I know. I know their team. Oh believe me,
I know their team proval. I got a pret I
got a couple of guys that work with me that
that are former terms. So it says I have to
hear about them all the time.

Speaker 5 (05:18):
So for you, by the way, they are for a
fan base that like is kind of a basketball school,
they love football. And they're so because I have my
marketing agent, a former marketing agent. Now he's you know,
kind of back in doing stuff. He's a die hard
Maryland sports fan, like bigger basketball, but they still love football.
And every time, like he was texting me like all

(05:39):
throughout the game, I'm going, yeah, well, I mean, this
is kind of what's happened though, Like you should have
been leading after halftime, wasn't the case, and then High
State beach down in the second half. It's kind of
how it works. But their expectations they should be able
to win.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
You know, they have the talent to be able to compete,
and you know, it is what it is. I mean,
And like I said, I'm a big fan of coach
Mike Loxley.

Speaker 4 (06:01):
He's my guy. Shouts out to him.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
I just you know, but when it comes down to
talking like comparisons and throwing Penn State out there, you
know how that gets you just get a ta bit biased,
and you know, I go on a different tangent and
it's more emotionally driven by the way.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
Can I admit that.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
Might be a little soggy on Saturday as well too, Man,
I don't feel like dealing with it. I mean, how's
the playing surface at the shoe.

Speaker 6 (06:28):
It's so far isn't natural.

Speaker 5 (06:31):
It's fieldterfield, trust me, pretty much everywhere's field surf now
considering they you know, run anything in there all year long, concerts,
other sports and other things going on.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
So yeah, you remember because Baker Mayfield tried to stick
the flag.

Speaker 7 (06:49):
Work.

Speaker 4 (06:50):
Yeah, that was because that was going to work.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
I grabbed a handoff and that that horseshoe before literally
grabbed a handoff.

Speaker 4 (06:57):
Did you I did? I did?

Speaker 1 (07:01):
I forget who with the Garcia was the quarterback. Joe
Jermaine was the starter. They had taken him out. It
was getting towards later in the game. They felt like
they had control of the game, which they did. That
was the year Andy Katzimoya was there, which is one
of the dopest linebackers everybody ever that people don't really

(07:21):
talk about the Big Cat. But yeah, that was like
kind of like that game was like my coming out party.
Even though we lost lost. I never wanted the horseshoe,
but they never won in State College.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
When I was there.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
That was the game he came out. What you mean, No,
I'm just saying that was the one where you got
on the map.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
That was yeah, yeah, because you know, we were was
built up. We're linebacker, you you know, and they they're
you know, they had the Big Cat. So it was
like kind of like but I wasn't you know, I
don't know, it was it was a it was a cool,
cool experience. Playing playing a Verse against Ohio is a
really really intense feeling. I'm from PA, so it just

(08:07):
hits different. You know, when you play against Ohio, like
anybody else you play against, it's like there's no teams
really in Like I hate to say this because it's
almost like I'm saying like Maryland, Like I never felt
like playing Pitt was it's like we got this, but
Ohio State you just don't know. And it's like it

(08:27):
goes back to the Big thirty three rivalry of it all.
It's like you can't let them beat us, you know,
we can't let them win. And it's just there's a
certain level of intensity and it's kind of I think
it's kind of decentralized a little bit because a lot
of the recruiting has been decentralized. It's not local guys,
Like it's not just PA guys at Penn State and

(08:49):
Ohio guys at Ohio or you get a few Ohio
stars that go to Penn State, and then you get
a few PA stars that go to Ohio State. Like
right now there's two Styles kids that are on on
Ohio State and Lorenzo Style, who was a linebacker for
Ohio State as well. It was one of the one
of the greats that came from Western Pa. You know,

(09:10):
he played at Faral. So it's just a lot of
connective tissue to Ohio State and in the Penn State game.
So I'm excited about it. I'm I'm happy that we're
going to well, I'm going to be there. I know
you you're going to be there, but Jonas, you're leaving.
But oh yeah, I'm happy we're going. You know, I'm
happy to come in there. Even with with a bet business.

Speaker 5 (09:30):
This has been that hurdle though for James Franklin, which
has Ohio State Michigan, that.

Speaker 4 (09:36):
Those are the two. Those are the two.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
But those have always been the two, even even with Joe,
even with ough Like, it's always been those those are
the two. We we pretty much handle everyone else like
we might have a year here and there where somebody
might get us. But the two games that it's like,
those are the two, like are we going to win
or are we going to just let them off the
hook again, because you we're usually beating Ohio State. Now

(10:03):
Michigan is different. Michigan is kind of like, eh, when
we lose the Michigan.

Speaker 4 (10:06):
We lose the Michigan.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
But but Ohio State, it's like we've always had them
and then some way, somehow we let them off the
hook and then they find a way to win the game.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
You know that, you know what you need to do.
You need to call Ohio State soft and see if
Ryan Day calls you out postgame for saying it, like
you need to call him that before the game and
see if we can spark that up a little bit here, just.

Speaker 8 (10:26):
Like lou conversation, Can I ask you this, like if
some like I was just thinking about this other day,
does anyone question Penn State's physicality?

Speaker 4 (10:39):
Not today?

Speaker 6 (10:40):
I don't hear anyone week?

Speaker 4 (10:41):
Do we go?

Speaker 5 (10:42):
We don't know if Penn State's a physical team? Right, Like,
does anyone question Michigan?

Speaker 4 (10:47):
No? No?

Speaker 5 (10:48):
Like I almost feel like by way of the fact
that people even ask that question or make that statement,
there's something kind.

Speaker 4 (10:55):
Of help to it. Yeah, right right.

Speaker 5 (10:58):
Like like like it it's funny, Like I'm not gonna
I say that applies to like all things, but in
at least college football, we don't ever say like, oh,
it's Georgia physical, Like, no, we know.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
They are, Like you don't even say for Iowa no.

Speaker 5 (11:13):
Because they're like, like you'd say, oh, i would no.
That's a physical brand of football. The way they play Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (11:19):
Wisconsin same thing.

Speaker 5 (11:20):
Like you know, like when it's third and one, you
know what you're gonna get. They're gonna take their guys,
they're gonna and they're basically telling you what they're gonna do.
Run in between the tackles, and our guys are going
to execute, and they're better than your guys, and we're
gonna push you across the line.

Speaker 6 (11:37):
Like that's that's kind of their mentality. But it is
kind of.

Speaker 5 (11:40):
Interesting, like when you look at this matchup, all right,
and and and this is coming off obviously the comments
of of Ryan Day and Lou Holtz and all that,
where I think he took offense to something that he
took personal that wasn't personal in the sense of, well,
how do you measure it?

Speaker 6 (11:55):
Like you look at can they stop the run? Can
they run the football? Go?

Speaker 5 (11:59):
Look where Ohio States ranked rushing the football? Go look
where Penn State's ranked. If Penn States sits a right
number one right now, averaging what two hundred yards a game?

Speaker 6 (12:08):
Whatever it is.

Speaker 5 (12:09):
And Ohio State's probably seventy eighty yards below that would
you say them that Penn State's the more physical team,
Like there's this statistic way of looking at it. But
like even when you watch film, like you don't have
to like ask that question about certain teams. So I
kind of find that portion of the conversation to be

(12:30):
funny that, like no one when that whole thing was
going on ever brought up the point that, well, if
you have to ask the question, maybe there's a reason
for it.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
Yeah, Ohio State's averaging.

Speaker 4 (12:42):
Game on the ground.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
We run though, like if you don't, if you don't,
you going no. We run, We play defense, and we
run like we're gonna wear you down.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
So if that's the case, if the elements are going
to play a factor.

Speaker 4 (12:59):
Then we should be good. And you're prepared for rain.

Speaker 6 (13:02):
What's the what's the wind?

Speaker 2 (13:04):
And you're getting four win all right? Projected wind there
I'm showing here overcast with rain showers of times high
fifty six wins west west to southwest at five to
ten miles an hour. That's what I'm seeing Saturday during
the day.

Speaker 4 (13:17):
That's not that much.

Speaker 5 (13:19):
The rain doesn't matter, Like honestly, between the gloves, the
way they bring all the different balls, they rot state
them out.

Speaker 6 (13:26):
That doesn't matter.

Speaker 5 (13:27):
If it's windy combined with the rain, maybe that would
be more concerning.

Speaker 6 (13:31):
But I think this will be a game well though.
Both teams should be able to do what they want
to do.

Speaker 2 (13:36):
Penn Stay plus four and a half are that's the move.

Speaker 6 (13:39):
It's going to be a close one. Man, It's going
to be a close one.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
Four and a hook and there's not a shot in
how Albert Brear is going to go opposite of Ohio State.
There like he's going to take Ohio State four and
a half. He should be a little well. Listen, speaking
of gambling, good time to do it?

Speaker 4 (13:56):
Hell yeah?

Speaker 2 (13:56):
And speaking of a good time, how about the Breeders Cup.
We're in the final stretch to get tickets to horse
racing's biggest moment of the year. The world's best are
headed to Santa Anita for the Breeders' Cup World Championships
on November third and fourth. The countdown begins. Now get
your tickets today at Breeders Cup dot com. All right,
so we are going to have a discussion about one

(14:18):
coach who was not happy. He was not happy borderline
pissed off over a question that took place involving one
of his players recently, and you will hear from him
next here on FSR.

Speaker 9 (14:28):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 4 (14:44):
Oh Waen No Man Jay tifth M.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
It's two Pros and a Cup of Joe Here Sports Radio,
LeVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you comeing up.
We'll call it about twenty five minutes from now here
from the tire rack dot Com studios. We are going
to have some over unders as we look ahead to
Thursday night football between the Jaguars and the New Orleans Saints. Now,
I mean, if we really, you know, had a comedic

(15:19):
bone in our bodies, we would just make everything a
Calvin Ridley prop you know, just because he was the
founding father of the degenerate gambling run in the NFL.
Like if we had, you know, if anybody had, you know,
wanted to go down that road, I wouldn't be opposed.
But it's up to lead to lap He makes ease.

Speaker 6 (15:35):
Well, we kind of already did the previews.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
So yeah, no, I definitely listen. I heard it. Sounded great.

Speaker 4 (15:40):
I heard it.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
Yeah, it's great.

Speaker 4 (15:41):
Nice.

Speaker 6 (15:43):
We know you want to get back on it, but
you know we can't really.

Speaker 2 (15:46):
Well no, I mean yeah, no, listen, we got all
the time in the world. You know, again, it sounded great,
So I just want to give you the heads up
on it.

Speaker 6 (15:54):
Feel like sarcastic.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
I'm not done being sarcastic. I sent the text you
know is listen on the blowtorch stuck stuck behind a
Ralph's truck.

Speaker 4 (16:06):
So yeah, I didn't see that text message coming through.

Speaker 2 (16:08):
You didn't get that.

Speaker 6 (16:09):
I didn't see it either, a little more passive aggressive, yeah, dollars.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
Okay, it's debatable if it's passive aggressive and I still
get pop ten dollars, what tie goes.

Speaker 4 (16:20):
To the.

Speaker 6 (16:23):
Passive aggressive?

Speaker 2 (16:25):
I'm tired of this crap man. LeVar has cost me
thousands of dollars on this show.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
I think you're so aggressive you don't even realize it
at this point.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
I don't think that you know the definition of passive aggressive.
That's what I think. But I'm simply just being sarcastic
at times. It's not passive aggressive. But LaVar's cost me
thousands of dollars.

Speaker 6 (16:46):
Hey, hey, LeVar, it's not passive aggressive. He just didn't
mean what he sent us.

Speaker 4 (16:50):
There you go, No, he didn't.

Speaker 5 (16:52):
That's all right, I'll get I'm gonna get Jonas an
alarm clock for his for his birthday.

Speaker 6 (16:58):
We don't know what his birthday.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
Is though, October twenty seventh. Do you know when it is? Okay,
it's October twenty seven.

Speaker 6 (17:03):
Well, i'll get it to you because it's coming up.

Speaker 2 (17:05):
Then, well, listen, I appreciate it. But uh, there was
not being passive aggressive. You guys did sound great. They
did a great job, you know, great job to being honest.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
Here.

Speaker 6 (17:14):
Hey, why is Mike McDaniel's upset, Well, he's upset.

Speaker 4 (17:17):
Why is he upset?

Speaker 2 (17:18):
Well, because some candy ass in the media thought it
would be a good idea to go ahead and pull
the Brock party onto a tongue of by Lowa, to
try and make the assumption that well, anybody could call it.
Oh yeah, try to anybody could do it in your system.
And Mike McDaniel, Levar's guy got pissed off yesterday to
press governs.

Speaker 4 (17:36):
There are some.

Speaker 10 (17:36):
Folks who believe that many quarterbacks in this scheme with
you as the coach, with Tyrek and Jalen, maybe even
many many quarterbacks would excel, would flourish near the top
of the passer raider leading MVP candidate. What if any
pushback is their relatives to waiting on a hold.

Speaker 11 (17:57):
On is a little difficult of podium over. My answer
to that would be who the f cares? Because it's
it is a team, we're working together, and I know
one thing of coach stuff a long time. I haven't
seen people do what our guys do.

Speaker 6 (18:16):
Now.

Speaker 2 (18:17):
He did go on to say, as a teammate, we're
all dependent on each other. I'm not in any hurry
to prove myself without those guys because those are part
of who we are. To say it's this person or
that person is kind of missing the point. It's a
team working together, so on and so forth, and good
for him. Why do we do this crap? Who cares?
He's product of the system. What do you want to do?
Trade himself?

Speaker 12 (18:38):
Like?

Speaker 2 (18:38):
I don't get it.

Speaker 4 (18:39):
We just say to go play for another team.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
Right, go prove yourself in a bad organization. Okay, like
why do we do this?

Speaker 5 (18:47):
And this goes it's it's because we're dumb, Like we're
all dumb, Like we're all we're humans and we just
we we need like little things to debate about and
argue about. I mean, I've said this forever, like the
I have always a system quarterback.

Speaker 6 (19:01):
It's like, like that's.

Speaker 5 (19:03):
A compliment to anyone who's a part of probably a
good offense, a good team, or good organization. Like there's
only maybe a handful of guys in NFL history who
could have went anywhere and been successful or you know,
been a Pro Bowl caliber player.

Speaker 6 (19:18):
That's just the truth. I know people don't want to
hear that, but.

Speaker 5 (19:21):
Likeqtion, a circumstance you enter into in the NFL is
paramount to even your.

Speaker 6 (19:27):
Own ability as a player.

Speaker 5 (19:29):
It just is like I'm sorry. If people wanted to baby,
that's fine, but you're wrong. Like if you go into
a terrible organization with a terrible team and nothing around
you on offense and you don't fit in pieces that
you can't work with that they try to make you
do things you're not good at.

Speaker 6 (19:46):
You're not going to succeed.

Speaker 5 (19:48):
And I think Mike McDaniel when he got to Miami,
he invested a lot of time in figuring out ways
of helping Toua Tonguo Bai Lowa become the player that
you've seen now in the past, you know, two seasons
really what he's healthy and utilizing Jalen Waddle and all
the speed they've gotten the roster to put them in
positions to succeed. That's a great coach. That's what good

(20:09):
coaches do, That's what every coach should do. And so
it's always I should say it's it's not surprising or
shocking by by any means, but we get to the
point of season we're like, yeah, we just we got
to toy around and throw it on different ideas because
we can't compliment brock Party for what he's done. Kyle's offense,
we can't compliment too and we've got to let our

(20:31):
minds wand or too.

Speaker 6 (20:32):
Well, what was would they switch? Would they be as good?
Will they still? It's like, yeah, probably, you won't know why.

Speaker 5 (20:37):
They probably both excel at either place because if you
switch them, Kyle would work the two his strengths and
Mike would work to block party strengths, and they're both
talented rosters. They're both great situations, so they both probably
excel whether they're both in San Francisco and Miami or
they swapped. Like that's the truth of the matter, because
they're good situations to be in. I just I hate

(20:58):
how we have to dissect them to make it a
bigger deal.

Speaker 4 (21:00):
Than it needs to be. I mean, what do you want
me to say? I listen. That's that's kind of my
sentiments of it.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
I think if you're if you're able to be good
and at the pro level, there are a lot of
elements that play in and into that.

Speaker 4 (21:19):
You know, is the is the organization?

Speaker 1 (21:22):
Like I always start just because of my experience, I
always start with is it a healthy organization? If if
it's a healthy organization, then even players that aren't necessarily
going supposed to be great can end up being great.
I watched that through the years in Pittsburgh. You know,
you'll see a guy that it's like, oh, they weren't
very highly talented, talent touted coming out of coming out

(21:45):
of college. You know, might even been a traveler, you know,
been a backup, or maybe found their way to the
starting position. But eventually ended up being an All Pro
Pro Bowl caliber player, you know, in the system and
the scheme that they were playing in. I just always
felt as though, if if you play for a team
and you're a player that can make it to the NFL,

(22:08):
if you're playing for a team that knows what their
DNA is, they're generally going to bring in guys that
fit the DNA of what their team is. And and
so the skill sets and the things that you're looking for,
you're generally looking for players that fit that coming into
the scenario. Now, if you're a coach that comes in

(22:29):
and we always say it's not your guy, well, if
you're one of those type of coaches, then you have.

Speaker 13 (22:33):
To decide the people that you already have there. Are
they your Gucci, you know, are they are you? Are
they your Louis Vauton luggage or are they not? And
then you go from there and if you can do it,
then you do it.

Speaker 1 (22:46):
But I've always thought it was pretty cool when like
if you think about just like you throw Tom Brady
out there, you know, Tom Brady wasn't he didn't go high,
he wasn't one of the top qbs, and our draft
class and.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
By the way, he also had the same narrative about
him early on. Well it's just what's around him.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
Well that was that was not just early though, right,
Wasn't it still even a debate after he left? Like
who was it? Or was it the chicken or the egg?
You know what I mean? Was it Bill or was
it Tom? So, you know, I think that's just something
that's naturally a part of sports, like who's the greatest?

Speaker 4 (23:23):
Compared these too, who are the greatest? Well, why can't
they just both be the greatest? You know, like why
can't they just be the both? Like both be that.

Speaker 1 (23:33):
But that's just what we you know, there's certain things
we like doing in sports, and for some reason, system
players like oh he can run the ball, or oh
he can he gets a lot of sacks, or oh
he can throw for a lot of yards and one gay,
Oh it's the system, Like all right, you.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
Know, it's like you're only a good part because your
kid's cool. All right, well let me give him up
for adoption. Improve myself with a scumbag. No, I got
to do this right, just so everybody says, no, no, no,
you've done it at all facets. If two if this
works out for two and he can spend the rest
of his career there in a great system. Who the
hell wouldn't want that? If brock Purty can spend the
rest of his career in a great system with Kyle Shanahan,

(24:09):
who the hell wouldn't want that? Like, Like, why is
this a no?

Speaker 4 (24:14):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (24:15):
If you brought party and you fel you stumbled upon
Kyle Shanahan where he's at in his career and the
way they've put together things for now today, think.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
About how long it took Alex Smith to find the
right system he was taught. They were talking about Alex Smith, like,
oh he's a bust Oh Alex Smith. Oh man, what
a waste of a number one pick? And it took
him years and he found the right system and the
guy became a multiple time pro bowler and became a
really good player. Like the idea that you got to
dock these guys because they found themselves in a good spot.
I just I don't get it. Yeah, Jared Goff's another one,

(24:47):
Like I don't get it, Like what do you want
to do? Like have to swim through crap just to
prove like, ah, I can make this happen. I just
it's very weird.

Speaker 4 (24:56):
So you know Neil O'Donnell.

Speaker 2 (24:58):
Damn right, damn rights?

Speaker 5 (25:03):
Yeah, hell yeah, oh, Bubby yeah yeah, come on yeah,
Bernie Cozar.

Speaker 6 (25:09):
Bernie, come on, talk to me, my guy.

Speaker 2 (25:11):
Bernie Bernie, Kelly Holcombe, Kelly Holcombe. Spurgeon win, Yeah, little
Spurgeon win, Little Spurgeon. Little Timmy Couch. That's my guy,
Your guy, Tim Couch, that guy. Butch Davis was the
coach of that Cleveland Brown team that went to the playoffs, right,

(25:32):
didn't did they lose that playoff game against Pittsburgh? They
beat them in that playoff game, didn't they play the
Steelers in a playoff game? Almost positive? And it was
Tim Couch and it was Kelly Holcomb who were the
quarterbacks for Cleveland, which, by the way, there was a
I saw the reair of the special on the Miami
Hurricanes from the early two thousand. Yeah, so it was

(25:55):
from the early two thousands, and I was thinking about this,
Who would you, I say, would be favored neutral field
early two thousands Hurricanes or those USC teams. I don't
care that Brady played against, you think so? Yeah, damn.

Speaker 4 (26:13):
They were loaded a lot of great players, yeah, they were.

Speaker 6 (26:16):
That was a bad That was a bad group, man.

Speaker 2 (26:18):
And listen, you know they're.

Speaker 4 (26:21):
Gonna end up day at Graduate Hotel.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
Well if I'm sure they did with as rested as

we take a look ahead to Thursday night football. But

(26:46):
for all the latest from around the world of sports,
we present to the Sir Edmund Garcia.

Speaker 12 (26:51):
All right, thank you, Jonas. We will get you caught
up on some postseason baseball. It was Game three the
America League Championship Series. Some runs were scored in this one.
In the end Houston against the eight five victory. Jose
al tuove two h it's a solo homer. Jordan Alvarez
had two hits and two runs driven in, and Martine
Maltina also a two RBI game for Houston in the win.

(27:11):
Texas starter Max Shirts are a lot five earned runs,
five hits in four innings of work. He took the loss.
Houston continues to get it done on the road in
the postseason, last ten postseason games for them, nine to
one is their record for Texas. They came in seven
to zero this postseason before the loss, their first, and
they still have a two to one series advantage. Road
teams won every game so far in this series. We

(27:34):
had a couple NHL games last night, Red Wings over
the Penguins six to three, the Senators all over the
Capitol six to one. As far as NFL news, Jaguars
quarterback Trevor Lawrence says he's optimistic about playing at tonight's
Thursday night game in New Orleans against the Saints. The
Jacksonville quarterback suffered a sprain knee on Sunday, officially listed
as questionable for tonight's game. Innapolis Colts made an official
their number one pick from this year, quarterback Anthony Richardson

(27:56):
will have season ending shoulder surgery. Browns quarterback Deshaun wa
And says he has a strained roadtator. Cuffy's day to
day didn't practice Wednesday, neither did Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo
as he's still recovering from that back injury. Bears quarterback
Justin feels doubtful for Sunday's game against the Raiders with
a thumb injury. If he cannot go, then it will
be Tyson Bagent getting his first NFL start against Las Vegas.

(28:19):
Arizona Cardinals active make quarterback Kyler Murray off the physically
Enabled to Perform list. He practiced for the first time
since December twelfth of last year, and New York Jets
are trading wide receiver Nicole Hartman back to the Kansasity
Chiefs for six and seventh round picks in twenty twenty five.
He had spent the last five season in Kansas City
before joining the Jets this offseason, and now he's heading
back to Kansas City. Now back to LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn,

(28:42):
Jonas Knox the Tierrack dot Com, Fox Sports Radio Studios.

Speaker 2 (28:45):
By the way, I think Tyson Beijing, I think I
have this correct. His dad is like a world champion
arm wrestler. Oh, most positive kind of goes.

Speaker 6 (28:54):
That sounds like a Chicago Bears quarterback.

Speaker 2 (28:57):
Yeah kinda, yeah, he just lets some you know, I
don't know if he was. Can you fact check that
that is correct? Jonas is world champion arm wrestler.

Speaker 12 (29:05):
Yeah, they've been showing the highlights of it on the
NFL network.

Speaker 2 (29:09):
How jacked is he?

Speaker 6 (29:10):
He looks. I mean, he's stacked in, but he's not
you know, huge, stacked and hacked.

Speaker 12 (29:18):
Yeah, they had something he was at the Senior Bowl
I guess it was, and they had him arm wrestling
some weed from the NFL network.

Speaker 14 (29:25):
And just well, I mean, yeah, I don't know what
the guy, I don't know who the guys, but he
was using two hands to try and you know, pull over,
and he's just like smiling at him and talking, you know,
to him while he's when he's doing it.

Speaker 6 (29:38):
And just.

Speaker 2 (29:40):
Is over the top A good movie or just a
movie that only guys like.

Speaker 6 (29:44):
It's actually a great movie, Is it really?

Speaker 2 (29:46):
Or are we just romanticizing it and it's not that great.

Speaker 4 (29:49):
Of a movie.

Speaker 6 (29:49):
No, it's great.

Speaker 4 (29:50):
But I don't remember it.

Speaker 2 (29:51):
You don't remember over the top.

Speaker 5 (29:52):
You don't remember flipping the switch from the hat background?
I do, I do, I remember like the parts of it.
I just don't remember it. Remember it.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
I don't remember the last like, when's the last time
y'all seen over the top?

Speaker 4 (30:03):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (30:03):
God, like a year and a half. It was on
the studio.

Speaker 6 (30:07):
Really, I mean probably half so was he was?

Speaker 12 (30:11):
He trying to win like the love of his son
by arm wrestling something like that.

Speaker 2 (30:15):
And you remember he would like he would, he would take
his fingers and wrap him over the top of the
other guy's hand when he really wanted to make a
statement and win the match.

Speaker 6 (30:23):
Which seemed a little bit illegal at the time.

Speaker 2 (30:25):
Yeah, it's like thumb wrestling, you know, using one of
your other fingers when your thumb wrestling, you can't do that.
But for some reasons of us just alone could do
that one damn right, I would.

Speaker 1 (30:35):
And super long fingers. So I've never really liked thumb wrestling.
That upsets me. Yeah, yeah, it's upsetting, especially when you
get a against somebody who has a really, really long
thumb and then you see how much longer their thumb
is than yours, and then I just keep my thumb
up like I'm like, you know, hitch hiking. I do

(30:56):
the hitch hiking thumb and I just hold it firm
so that they can't get my thumb down because my
thumb is too small to get their long thumb.

Speaker 2 (31:04):
I mean, who wrestling Freddy Krueger, who's got to really
thumb wrestle thumb? Who's got a really long thumb?

Speaker 1 (31:12):
Man, you'd be surprised, Like you'd be surprised how many
people have like super long fingers.

Speaker 6 (31:17):
Man.

Speaker 4 (31:17):
You don't have to.

Speaker 1 (31:18):
Be like a very impressive specimen of a person to
have long fingers. But if you have long fingers, you
definitely had the advantage in thumb wrestling.

Speaker 2 (31:27):
I heard pain like that Pedro Martinez has a really
big fingers and that that's what made his change up
that he would throw so devastating because he would get more,
you know, more action.

Speaker 4 (31:38):
On the change up.

Speaker 1 (31:42):
Well, you know, they said that's why Michael Jordan was
so good because of his thumb, like the he's he
explained it one time, like the space in between his finger,
his pointer.

Speaker 4 (31:51):
And his thumb.

Speaker 2 (31:52):
You know that's why he was good.

Speaker 4 (31:55):
Yeah, because the way he was able to control the ball.

Speaker 6 (31:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (32:00):
And then who is Chris Chris uh the fall guy?
Chris Chris Chris Carter. Chris Carter.

Speaker 2 (32:08):
He worked his out though, didn't he? I heard he
like bet his thumb all the way down to try
to make make it easier to catch jeez.

Speaker 4 (32:16):
Eight stretched his fingers out.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
That's commitment. Well there you go to stretch, you know. Well,
it is two Pros and a Cup of Joe here
on Fox Sports Radio. Long thum and that does that
does transition as smoothly over to the progressive play of
the day. This one's clubbed left field and deep, going.

Listen to Unbreakable with Jay Glazer on the iHeartRadio app,

Speaker 4 (33:54):
This is over the top. What a tea song?

Speaker 6 (34:00):
Yeah, it's awesome.

Speaker 4 (34:02):
Though.

Speaker 6 (34:03):
This is like that eighties workout music. You know, if you.

Speaker 4 (34:07):
Could work out to this God bless oh Bro.

Speaker 16 (34:11):
Come on to work out Sammy soundtrack LA, you could
have worked out.

Speaker 1 (34:15):
This is nothing like the rocky soundtrack God no Way.

Speaker 6 (34:20):
To Sylvester Stallone started over the top.

Speaker 4 (34:24):
I know they missed on this one though.

Speaker 2 (34:27):
Levart a guy, a guy in that movie drank gasoline
for real, there was It wasn't a prop. He legitimately
drank gasoline.

Speaker 4 (34:36):
Well that's a miss. It smells good, but I wouldn't
drink it.

Speaker 2 (34:39):
Yeah, it's a mess. Ye, great call. Well it is
two pros and a couple of Here on Fox Sports,
LaVar Brady Quinn Jonas knocks with you. Oh my, yeah,
what a brutal song.

Speaker 4 (34:53):
We ain't gonna get no fun for playing that, you know.

Speaker 2 (34:55):
Sammy Hagar was like, oh man, this has got staying power,
like this will be around for a while. This song's
never been played after the movie except for right now.

Speaker 6 (35:03):
Oh that is not true.

Speaker 5 (35:05):
I all the time, Yeah, many way rooms.

Speaker 2 (35:09):
You heard it in a Walgreens.

Speaker 16 (35:10):
I worked at a Walgreens and this song would play
it every day, like three times a day.

Speaker 2 (35:14):
What the hell they listening to in Iowa?

Speaker 16 (35:17):
It was like the Walgreens radio set play We're the
Top was played at Walgreens, And that explains I.

Speaker 1 (35:25):
Right now, there you go. So that's playing in your walgrains.
Good for your wals in Iowa.

Speaker 2 (35:33):
We are very profitable Walgreens.

Speaker 4 (35:35):
I'm sure.

Speaker 2 (35:38):
Oh man, all right, So coming up top of next hour,
we'll call it a little over ten minutes from now.
From the ti raq dot com studios. There's a a
rumor that's being floated out there that if you would
have been paying close enough attention on this show. We
were trying to tell you about this rumor months and
months ago, all right, and it could impact a lot

(35:59):
of PEO people, big name people, programs and organizations in
the NFL and in college football. So we'll give you
the details on that here coming up a little over
ten minutes from now. Before we get to another edition
of Over Unders, though, do you want to let you

Speaker 6 (36:24):
Time to put your money where your mouth is.

Speaker 7 (36:26):
I have been losing, you know you aligning low life
Cambly the genuine.

Speaker 2 (36:31):
It's over under all right, lead to lap How we
looking well?

Speaker 7 (36:35):
Quick recap of last week. It was a tough week
all around for that Vocos at Chiefs, where, of course
Case won the game nineteen to eight and all of
you had taken the over on the point total of
forty seven.

Speaker 6 (36:47):
Obviously the Denver defense did okay there, Yeah, they did.

Speaker 7 (36:50):
Actually right, because they've been awful awful, Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (36:55):
Jesus, I'm looking at Oh my god.

Speaker 7 (36:57):
Yeah. So yeah, to keep going on this last week,
passing touchdowns for Mahomes over under was set at two
and a half. Everybody took the over. He only threw
one in that game. There was a prop bet we
had a first cutaway to Taylor Swift after kickoff? Would
it be before or after the first commercial? Everybody took before.
It wasn't until after. A good job by Amazon Prime

(37:19):
by holding off on that one. But here come the wins.
Total turnovers for Russell Wilson was at one and a half.
Jonas was the only one who took the over where
of course, he threw two interceptions and receiving yards for
Travis Kelsey was sixty six and a half. I think
he got rid of that in like two drives, right,
It was a.

Speaker 6 (37:36):
Way on drives.

Speaker 4 (37:37):
He only won that call. That one.

Speaker 7 (37:38):
He more than doubled it. He had one hundred and
twenty four, so I guess he didn't quite double it.
Close to doubling it. LeVar, you did take that one,
so it was a tie between you and Jonas. Last
week of one and four, oow, what did Brady do?

Speaker 4 (37:52):
Awful?

Speaker 6 (37:52):
Roent fi five.

Speaker 2 (37:53):
Yeah, so together we went two and thirteen as a group.

Speaker 1 (37:58):
MANA what because I went, which'll on too many of them? Like, yeah,
we agreed on too many of the same ones.

Speaker 4 (38:04):
I knew I was in bad shape.

Speaker 2 (38:06):
Two and thirteen we did it again.

Speaker 6 (38:08):
Well done, thirteen and two. I'll remind people of that.

Speaker 5 (38:13):
Yeah, I mean, there's just there's the other side of
the coin right there.

Speaker 4 (38:17):
If you go, if you picked heads.

Speaker 6 (38:20):
Okay, out of fifteen tries and you went two and thirteen,
that's equally impressive.

Speaker 4 (38:25):
It's going thirteen.

Speaker 2 (38:26):
Into it is that's true.

Speaker 7 (38:28):
Well, let's see if we could beat this record this week.
I believe in you guys. I think we could do this.
So uh point total four week seven, Jaguars at Saints
is that forty?

Speaker 6 (38:38):
I'm gonna take the under.

Speaker 2 (38:39):
I am too, and I don't want it to be
the under.

Speaker 4 (38:42):
I'm gonna take you over.

Speaker 7 (38:45):
Guys. You can't get a point passing touchdown prop for
Trevor Lawrence quite yet. He's questionable, but you can't for
Derek Carr. Passing touchdowns is a one and a half under.

Speaker 6 (38:58):
Oh man, I'm gonna say the over.

Speaker 2 (39:05):
I mean, Jacksonville leads the league in turnovers.

Speaker 4 (39:10):
Over on this one.

Speaker 2 (39:12):
Maybe they don't trust Derek Carr with that football quite yet.

Speaker 6 (39:16):
Yeah, maybe we don't trust you.

Speaker 2 (39:18):
Maybe you should trust this.

Speaker 4 (39:20):
Oh, I would have feels the hair on time? Oh wow, we've.

Speaker 7 (39:24):
Got guys, We got receptions.

Speaker 4 (39:27):
Guys.

Speaker 7 (39:27):
For the one and only Calvin Ridley that four and
a half over.

Speaker 5 (39:32):
They've got to get him going, man, he to me
is the most explosive part of this offense.

Speaker 2 (39:38):
Or a half for Ridley reception or the never times
Brady's box cuts out to the segment.

Speaker 6 (39:44):
Oh oh that while driving in.

Speaker 2 (39:51):
I just want to get rather that. I'll take the
over league.

Speaker 6 (40:02):
You guys want me to doll on five phone? Would
that be better?

Speaker 2 (40:04):
I'll take the over league? What you must press on?

Speaker 3 (40:08):
LeVar?

Speaker 2 (40:08):
What do you got?

Speaker 4 (40:11):
Oh, I'm gonna take the under all.

Speaker 7 (40:15):
Right, fellas who has more total yards from scrimmage will
be Alvin Kamara or Travis Ettien.

Speaker 2 (40:20):
Ju It's on my fantasy league. I need him on
my fantasy team. Let's go.

Speaker 4 (40:27):
I'm gonna take Etn too.

Speaker 5 (40:30):
I'm gonna take Camara just ahead another side here, I
need to pick up some ground.

Speaker 6 (40:34):
Oh and five. Last week's not good.

Speaker 7 (40:38):
Last one fellas. What is shown first on the telecast?
Is it Bourbon Street or a plate of crawfish?

Speaker 6 (40:45):
Neither street.

Speaker 2 (40:49):
Yeah, I don't take Bourbon Street.

Speaker 4 (40:51):
I'm going with neither.

Speaker 2 (40:52):
Why you can't take me neither?

Speaker 1 (40:54):
I can because it's not an over or an under.
So I take neither. Damn neither one.

Speaker 4 (41:00):
All right, I don't like it.
