talking all things NFL college football, and listen, the game
that ended up Sunday's Action, you know, was what it was.
(01:20):
It was the Raiders and the Jets, and somehow, some way,
the Las Vegas Raiders are five hundred. I don't get it.
It doesn't make any sense to me, But Antonio Pierce
is now two to zero as head coach of the Raiders.
Is that the big takeaway from the game on Sunday
Night Football? Or is it the fact that the New
York Jets continue to have ourselves a little a little
(01:42):
bit of a problem when it comes to quarterback.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
Look, I know we want to put it all on
Zach Wilson. It's never all on the quarterback. I think
you know, you know what you have and kind of
what he is. And I've said this before when he
took over, he's played better football this year. I know
that's going to stand in the way of how the
results have been when he's been starting, but he has
played better for him that he's played in the past.
(02:07):
I just think they have to win in a very
specific and style of way, and when they can't play
those sorts of games, it becomes a problem. I mean,
I'll say this much. I mean the throw he made
at the end, just to be able to get the
ball out of his hand to have a shot at
Hail Mary, like you see, is like talent and ability.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
With Crosby, like gunning down on him.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
Wearing down on him and has like a side arm
like fifty yards sling of a throw or whatever. I mean,
like that's a special that's special talent. There's just I
think a disconnect. And I'll say this like quarterbacking is
such an experimental position where like some guys just have
a shorter learning curve than others. You know, some can
get in the NFL and kind of adapt to the
(02:49):
game rather quickly, like CJ. Shroud's done so far as
a rookie this year, and others. It takes time. It
takes them in a lot of reps and the jump
that from where they were to where they're going and
what they're asked to do, and the changes around them,
like all those things impede on some of that growth.
So it's look, he's better than where it was a
year ago. But the frustrating part I think for this
(03:10):
team is, you know, they've they're not gonna be a
win shootouts. They're not gonna be a win throwing the
football around. They're gonna have to play great defense, run
the football, not turn the football over, and win tight games.
And that's just it's tough to do consistently in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
Yeah, it just it feels like it's got to be
so frustrating. Man, Like if you're just thinking, God, the
defense is there, it seems like they've got it all together.
It seems like that, you know, they land Rogers and
yet here we are and and just to deal with
the injuries and to see it play out it like
they just can't get in the end zone, Like they
(03:45):
can't score and and Sala's over there, Like, man, I
don't know what else to do. And people can throw out, well,
you're gonna bench Zach Wilson, You're gonna Is that really
gonna help it?
Speaker 4 (03:55):
Like?
Speaker 3 (03:56):
Is that gonna help the situation? It just it feels
like they well, it feels like their season and as
much as we want to talk about hope and optimistic
that Aaron Rodgers could come back. Four plays in to
their season. It was over. That was it, and now
they're just kind of trying to figure out whatever they
can to try and stay afloat with some sort of possibility,
(04:19):
which just seems to be dwindling as the season goes on.
Speaker 4 (04:22):
But how about them Raiders? Yeaheah.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
Antonio Pierce is Raiders coach and with the gauntlet they
had to just go through playing the Giants and Jets.
Man oh man, he should be up the coach of
the year.
Speaker 5 (04:36):
Well, I'll tell you what. They are going to get
a real one the next two weeks.
Speaker 4 (04:39):
Huh.
Speaker 5 (04:41):
The Raiders is going to go up against the Dolphins
and the Chiefs over the next two weeks.
Speaker 4 (04:45):
That's that that'll be.
Speaker 5 (04:48):
I'll say this, if he gets one win out of
those two games, don't you I feel like you Unless
he has some type of crazy slide where he can't
win an another game, I think he I mean, you
solidify your your opportunity to be the coach next year
if you beat the you know, the Chiefs or the Dolphins, Right, yeah, yeah,
(05:13):
I mean I would think so yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
Still a little bit ways to go, but I would
think that. I do wonder if Mark Davis, you know,
we talked about this at the time. Rich Pisaccia was
a guy that everybody loved there. When they decided to
move on from him and go to the Josh McDaniels route,
that did not sit well with a lot of people there.
And I wonder if he looks back on that and says,
if we got a guy in the house that everybody
(05:36):
likes and they're playing hard for, like why go out
and make the splash higher of the big name that's
out there. We've got somebody that we can roll with,
and it's somebody who loves the organization like he does.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
You know, the last Raiders head coach to start off.
Speaker 4 (05:50):
To and o.
Speaker 3 (05:53):
Cha Rich Pisaci, really.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
Rich Piacia, right, Sacha Bissacia. Well, the other thing that
was interesting about last night's game is like, I mean,
the Jets out gained them. They were better on third down.
I mean the Raiders had two turnovers, they won the
turnover differential, Jets only had the Wilson pick. Like if
you kind of broke down just based on that, you'd say, yeah,
(06:18):
the Jets like probably could have should have won that
game in some ways, they couldn't really execute in the
red zone. It just feels like they when they need
a play. Obviously, Garrel Wilson's the guy they go to
or finding ways of getting the ball to Brease Hall.
But I don't know, man, It's just it's tough to
They have to play such a tight and almost near
perfect game I think each week in their style in
order to be to pull out these wins.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
Why were they throwing the ball on that third down
when they were trying to there was a minute and
change left and New York had all three timeouts left,
and they ran Josh Jacobs and then ran them again.
Jets are having to burn their timeouts because Zach Wilson
got picked. And then on third down, you would just
assume they're going to run the ball again and force
them to use that find time out, and they threw it. Why.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
I don't know, but you know if you're The funny
thing is, as we read through the rundown, like the
most the most I thought, the poor decisions. The most
critical you'd be of a coach based on decision making
yesterday was probably Bill Belichick And we don't even have
that on the rundown like crazy, which is crazy because
they're now a two and eight team. Yeah, and they
(07:27):
played their early game in Germany, so it kind of
gets kind of swept on the rug. But like people
have been critical of Bill Belichick and his power as
both a general manager slash head coach, this was one
of the first instances where I'm like, wow, I mean
for your coaching staff last year, you hire Patricia's euroc
that's a disaster and a dumpster fire between Patricia and
(07:48):
Joe Judge. And now again not saying they're good, they're
bad coaches, but just maybe you know, keep them on defense,
keep them a special team, keeping another different spot. You
bring in Bill O'Brien, you try to make up for
that that issue this year than in this specific game,
you're down seven to three, you've got fourth and goal,
your offense has not moved the football, and you elect
(08:12):
in the fourth quarter with twelve minutes left, kick your
field goal. A little bit surprising in part because your
defense had basically stopped Indianapolis with exception basically one drive
earlier than Jonathan Taylor touchdown. So if you don't get
it and they're backed up, so be it. You're gonna
you're gonna win the field position game. If you do
get it, great, you go up. You're winning the game now.
(08:34):
And instead they elect to kick a field goal and
you're still down, still need another score, so they kickoff,
Colts will turn it out to the fifty yard line.
A couple first downs later, they get a field goal.
Now they're back to right where they started. It's ten
to six. Now you need a touchdown. So I just
I looked at that decision. I was thinking, Okay, that
was odd, and especially in that moment in a world
of analytics where it just didn't make any sense, and
(08:56):
your offense has struggled to get down there and score.
Why and then the final two minutes you just throw
in Bailey Zappi And I know people will say, well,
Marc Jewels, it wasn't that bad. He was fifteen o
twenty threw a bad pick, all right, Like outside of that,
like that wasn't that bad. Especially can see what their
offenses looked like this year, and it's not like they've
(09:18):
got a bunch of playmakers running around. I mean, Douglas,
the rookie, has been the most explosive. They're trying to
get him more involved, but I mean, I just it
was so confusing, befuddling to see him just throw Bailey
Zappi in there. And they showed a shot of them
on the sidelines and Matt kind of goes over to
say like, hey man, go go get it done, go
(09:38):
get a win, and you can see Zappi's like, what
the hell is this like coming in cold in Germany.
And here's the thing I can tell you about, like
being a starter slash backup. When you're a starter, if
you're giving up reps to the backup, they're probably like
first second down reps during the week if you give
up any Okay, mostly that backup's taking scout team reps
and they're telling them who to throw to on the
(09:59):
scouteam cards because they want the defense to get picks
and feel good. Right, So if you're the backup, you're
surely not getting situational reps. So you're not getting the
two minute drive, you're not getting third down, you're not
getting red zone reps like those are saved for your
quarterback because sometimes you've got so many plays in your
game plan you don't even have time to rep them all,
Like you might be just doing some through walkthrough, So
(10:21):
you're walking through it but never getting a live feel
for some of it. And so in the final two
minutes you're bringing him cold off the bench saying, yeah,
go win the game. And of course, like the interceptions
at the end, looks off on the fake spike and
throw down the middle of the field. But what do
you expect you didn't prepare the guy.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
I was gonna ask you, how many times during the
week do you think they practice that fake spike interception play?
Speaker 1 (10:43):
If they did practice it, I'll tell you this much.
It wasn't Bailey Zappi practicing it. He probably had to
walk through it on his own or get a rep
of it to a receiver who's running routes on air
or a spot up route at some point. And I'm
just sitting there thinking to myself, this is this is
this is one of the first times when you literally
felt like this is a dumpster fire. With everything that
came out last week and the Waka shame thing we
(11:05):
talked about to how the season's gone to the situation
with even mac Jones and Bailey Zappi like they're pretty
comparable players. I mean, mac Jones obviously had a much
more decorated career of Bama. Bailey Zappi was productive of
Western Kentucky. But it's not like you're bringing a change
up at quarterback like they had in Malie Cunningham with
a cut which when he was there, I was like, yeah,
give him a shot. Then, like he'll give you a
(11:27):
different element. He can he can definitely do some things
with his legs that he is capable as a thrower,
and yet they got rid of them. And so I'm like, man,
this is if there's ever a time, and especially at
the end, and it usually doesn't end pretty in the NFL.
It ends ugly for most people. I'm just shocked that
it's if it does end, then if it ends this
year the way it is ending for Bill Belch.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
I wonder how many first time NFL viewers there were
in Germany who were like, I want to check this
league out. Everybody keeps telling me about it. And then
they saw that and were like, let's go get a
pretzel on a beer. This this this game so and
this league sucks. That was brutal, and especially when you
go Dolphins Chiefs the week before you give them that
(12:08):
bag of crap in Frankfurt to start off the day
yesterday in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
Oh my god, where's my bear?
Speaker 4 (12:19):
Where's my bear?
Speaker 1 (12:23):
They're fighting the hunt in the AFC South. Like we
talked about that Houston being there, Well, there you are
with Indianapolis, they're right in the mix. The Jaguars now
are obviously at the top of it, but I mean
they're what a game up? I mean, it's it's gonna
be it's gonna be tight to see who's able to
survive this, this AFC South.
Speaker 3 (12:39):
You know, I had a little bit of a conspiracy
theory I wanted to throw at you guys and music. Okay, well,
I mean potentially, I mean, you know, well, we'll see
whether or not we've got you know, we've got the
band in studio here ready to play the all right.
So do you think maybe because we were kind of
kicking around and having fun on Friday with the Bill
(13:00):
Belichick walk a shame that you mentioned Brady, do you
think it's a little odd that this just it just
happened to come out. Now it's from the off season
from Nantucket and just now with all the speculation about
what his job security is, like, do you think maybe
somebody with some pats might have made him look bad,
might have had that on it.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
I came away more impressed. I did too. He's what
seventy one, he's good for his age, he's a unit agreed. Yeah,
oh gosh, he got barrel chest.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
He doesn't have a barrel.
Speaker 5 (13:32):
Let's add Oh my gosh, let's oh my gosh. Okay,
I'm just.
Speaker 1 (13:38):
Saying I came away impressed, like seventy one looking like that,
still being active, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (13:43):
I mean the animal steel was the first thing that
came to mind.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
Georgia, animal Steele.
Speaker 4 (13:49):
I mean, that's just that's just me though.
Speaker 3 (13:52):
Got to beat in a turn buckle.
Speaker 4 (13:54):
He's definitely is.
Speaker 5 (13:58):
I just I just wonder if the walker Shane was
after he left his playbook or his memoirs and the
place that he walked out of. And now it really
really comes to light that, you know, somebody has stolen
the information that made Bill Belichick special and now he's
(14:21):
not special in him.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
It could be I just I find it for a
guy that's so buttoned up, that's all about he's locked
in and coaching is everything that in the year that's
his most trying as a coach, that everyone's talking about
is his final year in New England. That now this
stuff pops up. Just wonder if, just wonder if somebody
in New England you had something to do with it.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
Everyone needs a slumpbuster, you know.
Speaker 4 (14:45):
It's like there you go.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
Trying to get that mojo back.
Speaker 5 (14:53):
When you lose your mojo. Believe me, it's hard. I
lost my mojo once or twice in my life before.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
What does it feel like when you lose your mojo?
Speaker 5 (15:03):
It's difficult. Man is not the same, bro, life is
not the same. That's all I'm gonna tell you that about.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
You know what I feel like. When you go through
that sort of adversity, you you discover who you are
as a man. Man.
Speaker 4 (15:20):
That is a grand point, Brady, Yes, it is.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
That is a great point.
Speaker 3 (15:23):

Speaker 3 (15:48):
Yeah, yeah, all right, So coming up next here from
the Tiraq dot com studio.
Speaker 4 (15:52):
You gotta be our next promo video.
Speaker 5 (15:54):
We got to do like a fun bunch half half yeah.
Speaker 3 (15:59):
Yeah, because you don't like people, Actually, five five people
have speculated that we're not actually high fiving, that it's
just like one of us making a sound effect.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
Of our hands, which who said that?
Speaker 3 (16:09):
Just like people on Twitter like, that's not very mean.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
I've never seen that on Twitter. By the way, if
that's actually true, then why don't you retweet it? Put
on blast next time someone says that I'm not.
Speaker 3 (16:19):
Saying on sa If you want to doubt us and
think this is just all shenanigans, that we're just simply,
you know, just trying to you know, have fun here
and we're not actually all high fiving, screw you, and
this is what we got for you up top. Guys,
come on, let's go.
Speaker 4 (16:33):
Hey, you like the picture I just sent y'all? Let
me see I like that.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
Take a look at this is that?
Speaker 5 (16:39):
Is that one of the most stoic pictures.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
You've ever seen?
Speaker 4 (16:43):
Him?
Speaker 3 (16:44):
Looks great?
Speaker 1 (16:45):
Do you get that picture? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (16:47):
Maybe I have. I have eyes everywhere my guy. I
own a production company.
Speaker 5 (16:52):
Hey, so listen, I feel like that could be a
very very nice look for an offensive coordinator.
Speaker 4 (17:01):
I'm right at Beaver Stadium.
Speaker 1 (17:04):
I'm just saying, you know what I'll say. I'll say,
here's what I'll say with the quarterback you have now. Granted,
the tough thing is you got some great running backs too,
But I'd go after Sean Lewis at Colorado if I
was James Franklin and after he just got demoted Mcgranted,
this was a guy who was at Kent State, had
one of the best offenses during his time there, and
(17:25):
he ran the ball actually fifty five percent of the time.
Because you got two great running backs and k Tron
and obviously in Singleton, I would literally go after Shawn
Lewis and I'd say, look, man, like, come to Penn State,
like we need you right now. Because, as I said
it before, I really do believe that team has the
talent to compete for a college fall playoff for national
(17:48):
I really do believe that. And like what concerns me
the most is is if Drew Aller is going to
take the fall for what has been their offense the
past few years. And I feel bad for Sean Clifford
because I think, you know, he unfortunately had to go
through some of that. I think you get a guy
like Sean Lewis in.
Speaker 4 (18:07):
There with that for eight years. Can you imagine?
Speaker 1 (18:12):
Well, I don't than what's that?
Speaker 3 (18:15):
Yeah, you deal with it for a long time.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
Yeah, I'm just saying you you guys, do you guys
have that have the ability?
Speaker 5 (18:25):
We do have some guys and you know, I'm just
saying I sent the picture who I think should be
up in the running for for offensive coordinating.
Speaker 4 (18:34):
I'm with you. I mean, how good?
Speaker 5 (18:37):
How how I mean, if anything, at least if you
you weren't very good at calling games, at least people
will be like, man, he's a good looking guy.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
Hey Brady, what color is that a burgundy? We're looking
at here on the on the sport code the suit.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
Yeah, I mean great to point out that for radio,
but yeah, it is a burgundy. I'm still confused. How like,
can shot of me on the sideline?
Speaker 3 (19:01):
Now?
Speaker 4 (19:01):
Hey, bru, I could get that one put in the
frame for you.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
Man, I mean I'm more scared. I mean, I knew
you were connected in Happy Value. I was like, dang, dude,
he's got highes everywhere. Yeah, I will say this, jonas
you missed out because I told LeVar where we're at
and all that, and he was kind enough and nice
enough to come by. He had a bunch of stuff
going on, but he came by. I saw the boys,
he saw Sea what they were having a heart to
heart it looked like for about ten minutes. And then
(19:26):
he he saw Puffy Hurts. So he saw Puffy Hurts
out there too with his brother in law. So it
was good.
Speaker 3 (19:31):
Yeah, yeah, the invites go a long way.
Speaker 6 (19:34):
But well, hey, Brotes, you don't You don't travel, You
rather get peed on by your son, even though that
actually was probably you.
Speaker 3 (19:44):
Yeah, that is fair.
Speaker 1 (19:46):
There was.
Speaker 5 (19:47):
But there were monster trucks running around Beaver Stadium too,
so you could have brought your son there too and
got the same show, you know.
Speaker 1 (19:54):
By that hit by Abduel though it was a great hit, dude.
That was stick City.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
Ask that was stick City.
Speaker 5 (20:01):
And you know we had the official merch launch. Make
sure you go online too, by the way, merch is available, dude.
Speaker 4 (20:07):
Give it out.
Speaker 1 (20:07):
It's cool. I saw the sweater your when I was dope.
The whole design all that's cool, I do, I really
do like it's very thoughtful in the way you went
about like the Stick City portion of it, like the
logo design school. I like that.
Speaker 4 (20:18):
Thanks, man, appreciate it.
Speaker 5 (20:20):
Yeah, you know, I just try to be particulous and
what I do well, I just learned from the best.
Speaker 4 (20:24):
You know, when you're around the best, you try to
be the best. Thanks appreciate that. Yeah, no, wow, no
doubt you know. Okay, now let's go.

You In or You Out? And who knows what lead
to Lap has in store for us when it comes
to that little closure on this edition of the program.
We do want to give a big congratulations though to
(22:33):
somebody who pulled off one of the great heists in
all of sports. Jimbo Fisher now no longer the Texas
A and M coach. My God, Jimbo Fisher gets nineteen
point two million dollars from Texas A and M within
the first sixty days of his departure, and then he's
going to get seven point two million dollars a year
(22:55):
through twenty thirty one, which puts him at just under
seventy seven million dollars as his buyout from Texas A
and M. God blessed Jimbo Fisher. I don't know if
he's playing it on coaching again. He could do whatever
the hell he wants. That is a massive, massive get
for him, and now he no longer has to deal
with the fact that, well, you know, they got a
(23:16):
bunch of talent there, and it's a little bit underwhelming
as to what he's done so far since he's been
with the Aggies, and now Texas A and M is
looking for a new head coach.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
I mean, I think there's gonna be a lot of
schools who are now suspect and in a tough spot
where both I mean obviously both Michigan State and Texa
m and look at it. For example, they provided Jimbo
Fisher this contract. Michigan State provided Meltzucker the contract that
really reset the coaching market. Those contracts set up for
(23:46):
so many of their coaches to get paid for these
long term deals that in some cases don't have offsets,
and so you get these gigantic buyouts and guarantees that
are owed to the coach. And I just I wonder
at what point point has the bubble popped or has
it not? Is this only gonna go up from here?
Or our school is going to be more resistant to
(24:09):
wanting to sign these long term deals. And you just say, look,
if you proved a success in three or four years,
like we'll put in you know, something to re up you,
or we have some sort of escalator within your contract
based on your success to get you to certain numbers.
But we need to see the success first. I just
I wonder how this is gonna change the coaching contracts
(24:30):
that we see moving forward, because it feels like the
bubble's kind of burst when you see the sort of news. However,
on the flip side of that, like, as I look
at this, I'm thinking, well, has it because if you
can find boosters who are willing to put forth the
money to buy out a coach who is gonna be
paid seventy almost seventy seven million dollars. Maybe I'm not,
(24:54):
Maybe I'm completely wrong in that assessment, because there's so
much money in college football that you could find rich
folks who are like, yeah, I want this guy out
of there. I'm willing to write the check, or a
group of people who are going to do that. It's
just it's nuts to me the money that's got involved
with these college coaches.
Speaker 5 (25:12):
Now, it's gotta be a moment where you say enough
is enough, right, Like, there's got to be a moment
where they say, we have to re reset the market
and re reset it at a different number, because it's
not going to allow for you to be able to
(25:33):
get rid of coaches if you truly indeed, like and
I hate to do this because it'll come across as
I'm biased, which it could be true, but it is
what it is. You have coaches that underperform and they're
being paid a ton of money. But then you have
(25:54):
coaches that are not underperforming, that are getting paid a
ton of money that aren't getting the results that you
may not want. And I'll just use Penn State as
an example, Like, sure, you want ultimately to be able
to beat the top two teams in the conference. That
is the plan, that is the idea to be able
(26:18):
to beat them. But make no mistake about it. If
you're going to buy out coaches that are literally having
success and are in the right direction of what's taking place,
versus a coach that just can't get his team, get
that team to get to the point of where they're
on the cusp of challenging for national championship or getting
(26:42):
into the college playoffs or even winning your conference, there's
a different that's a different vibe, you know, there's a
different vibe to that. And I think that if you're
paying out all this money to coaches that are reaching
you know, ten million and plus a year, and you're
(27:02):
doing you know, six, seven year, ten year deals with
these coaches, there's got to come a time where you say,
we can't do long term deals anymore with coaches, and
coaches are going to have to either be okay with
it or or not and look for other other opportunities.
But that amount of money has to be a wake
(27:24):
up call. I mean, Honestly, that's got to be a
wake up call. Paying that amount of money for a
coach to go away, that's got to be a wake
up call.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
I think the other thing that you have to kind
of look at analyze is like where did it go wrong?
You know, when you looked at his tenure at Florida State,
he built it up to a national championship and actually
went back to the playoff. They won the last PCs
and twenty thirteen they get to the playoff. In twenty
fourteen get beat by Oregon and that was the peak
(27:58):
of his time at Florida State. The subsequent three years
they won double digit games, but it wasn't the same,
didn't feel quite the same, and in his final year
just kind of lost. I don't know if it was
control or just couldn't kind of replicate or rebuild what
he had done in that kind of twenty twelve to
twenty fourteen span. And then when he got the Texas
(28:21):
and m they won nine games that first season, which
is a solid first season for any head coach that
takes over. And I think the next best year was
probably the COVID year. As far as they're finish, you know,
they won the Orange Balls with Kellen Mond his last year.
There kind of a funky year for everyone involved, right, Like,
(28:41):
like Michigan was averaged that year and just some teams
handled it well. Some teams didn't, I guess, is my point.
And out of that year, they never could really capitalize
on all this talent. I mean the recruiting classes he had,
and that was the other thing, Like the preseason rankings.
I think as part of Jim Fisher's demise. The past
(29:02):
three years, they've been a top fifteen ranked team, maybe
coming in the season top ten in some cases, and
it's been purely based on them being like, oh, SEC
West a lot of talent. They're gonna they're gonna win
some football games, and they've they've literally finished the previous
two seasons unranked. They're probably gonna they're gonna finish this
season unranked. Can I ask you guys a question? Sure,
guys are Based off of what you're saying, it makes
(29:24):
me wonder. It makes me think the amount of money,
but the amount.
Speaker 4 (29:28):
Of success we talk about.
Speaker 5 (29:30):
Players like Deshaun Watson is the name that comes up
the most because he has a fully guaranteed contract. These
coaches are getting fully guaranteed contracts, right that stem over
the length of like a decade. Do you think that
there's something to be said, like is there a comparison
here that coach is actually like when you get that
(29:51):
type of money, Like if you look at if we
were to look at the personal lives of some of
these coaches and what they start doing once they have money,
I bet you they all have multiple properties. I bet
you they're They're traveling and doing things you know that
they probably didn't do before they landed those those contracts.
I mean, do they care as much? I mean, I'm
(30:13):
just curious, Like it bags the question. It bags the question.
Do some of these coaches care enough once they glandos
large contracts?
Speaker 1 (30:21):
I think they do. I mean, come on, Nick Saban Dabo,
you know, Kirby Smart. I mean I think they do
because I think with being paid that there's all some
more pressure, there's more some more expectations. Like look at
Bama this year. Bama is on their path to an
SEC championship game and may very well surprise people by
the results of that if they're getting the playoff. But
(30:41):
no one's talked about them in that way, in part
because they don't look like the previous BAMA teams and
yet like this team may figure out a way of
playing for a national championship. So I don't know. I
think the more interesting thing is where does Texas and
M go? Now going to ask you, and I think
there's I don't know, you know, maybe you know Caitlin
de Boor at Washington's done a tremendous job, probably would
(31:05):
be most enticed by it. Who I think the world
of is Jonathan Smith at Oregon State, and Oregon State
is in a school in limbo right now because the
situation of the PAC twelve and they haven't they don't
have future plans of joining one of the other Power
five or I guess Power four conferences with what the
PAC twelve looks like. So those are a couple of
names people thrown on Dan Lanning. I can't imagine Phil
(31:25):
Knight's gonna let Dan Lanning out of the building like
he's a great coach and a m has a ton
of money, but so does Oregon.
Speaker 4 (31:32):
You know.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
Other names that I think are really interesting is Lancellipol
at Kansas and Chris Climbing at Kansas State. And people
are gonna be like, what are you talking about. I mean,
go look at their track record of success, Go look
at how many games they're winning, how competitive they are,
what they're doing with, like the talent they have, Like
these are really good coaches who I think, with the
(31:53):
right resources and in a program like that, could build
something that's sustaining.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
And Kansas was a disaster for years.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
That's right. So so those are two names that I
think could make some sense. Mike Elko was previously there
as their defensive coordinator, so I'm sure he's got some
equity build up there. He's done an unbelievable job at Duke,
and he's already been rumored to be looked at for
the Michigan state job, so that would be another hot name.
I think. Another really interesting one is Jeff brom Jeff
(32:22):
Brohm has led Louisville now to what's probably gonna be
an AEC championship birth. They've got nine wins, the most
they've had since Lamar Jackson was there, winning a Heisman,
and they're often possibly their best seasons that they've joined
the ACC. Like, he'd be a guy that I love
what he's done, and this year is kind of different
than the years pass at Purdue where he was able
(32:43):
to go to a Big Ten championship game. I think
what last year, you know, he's he's done it more
like kind of defensively and creating just enough plays with
jo r. Jordan at running back and Thrash at wide
receiver and Plumber and that whole thing. So it's like
there's a lot of really interesting candidates, and then there's
like your your names that you're gonn here, like Deon Sanders,
like of course Dion with what he's done at Colorado,
(33:04):
you know, improving that team, and he's a big name,
so he could recruit and all that. Like, I'm sure
someone might throw that name out. Urban Meyer, who has
won three national championships, who I've worked with, I'm sure
his name will get thrown into the mix. I mean,
I think the important thing for AM now though, is
the advantage they've had in recruiting has been weird or
(33:25):
at Texas school that's in the SEC, and they've been
able to recruit off of that, They've enticed recruits off
of that in the state of Texas. That's not the
case anymore. Texas and Oklahoma are book joining the SEC.
That's going to hurt their ability to recruit kids purely
based on that, and it would be really interesting to
see what happens depending on who they hire and how
(33:48):
the additions of OU and Texas to the SEC into
playing a role in just the recruiting rankings and all that.
Speaker 3 (33:53):
Now, it is time for the Progressive play of the day.

The right one? Do it? The real one that I
don't know?
Speaker 3 (35:37):
Why?
Speaker 1 (35:37):
Why are the street cred I picture? There's That's why
your son would say it right before it beat on you.
Speaker 5 (35:43):
You know, I was thinking the same exact thing, and
then you made the same exact noise when you felt it.
Speaker 3 (35:49):
He didn't. Yeah, he didn't say a damn thing after.
Speaker 1 (35:55):
Do you say anything to him?
Speaker 4 (35:57):
Well?
Speaker 3 (35:58):
No, he had is because it's really loud, so is
your muff So yes, he.
Speaker 1 (36:07):
Would you have done that with your did your dad
do that with you? Or if he was in that position,
what do you put me your muffs on?
Speaker 7 (36:14):
You?
Speaker 3 (36:15):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (36:15):
God?
Speaker 3 (36:16):
No, yeah, no, no, that wouldn't have happened.
Speaker 4 (36:19):
But what would he have done?
Speaker 3 (36:20):
If you pim my dad, I'll tell you exactly what
he had done, like word for word. Would you just
take him? Please, sue take him? Yeah? That was whenever
grated out, every time I'm disappointed, whenever he would get frustrated,
(36:44):
because he would always get really frustrated, he would just
go so good. Yeah, yeah, you know, dude. Uh, but
they listen, you know. But we're trying to be progressive.

Speaker 3 (37:29):
I leave to laugh. What do we got, guys?
Speaker 7 (37:30):
We've got Monday Night Football, Broncos at the bills you
enter out?
Speaker 1 (37:34):
Hell? Yeah, man, come on, that wasn't even a question.
Speaker 3 (37:37):
Bills minus seven you think so? I mean, just for
your purposes, just to screw Pete Prisco.
Speaker 1 (37:44):
I want to I need the Broncos plus seven. I
will take it, even though I've got the Bills minus seven.
I just dude, Payton off a bye. They've won the
last two, the defense is playing better. It feels like
there's just something off with the Bills. I don't know.
I don't feel good about it. They might beat them, Broncos.
Speaker 4 (38:02):
Yeah, they might beat them.
Speaker 1 (38:03):
They could or I could see like the Bills beating
the crap out of them, Like literally, I think it
goes like it's either tight, maybe the Broncos win, or
the Bills beat the crap out of them. I feel
like it's not gonna go any other way than those
two ways.
Speaker 4 (38:14):
That's fair.
Speaker 3 (38:16):
What have we got? We got time for one more?
That's it? Yes, come on, no birthday production in Happy Birthday?
WHOOPI Goldberg, all right, whoop
