the NFL that took place last year? Apparently it's going

(01:14):
to happen again. We are going to get to that
here coming up in just a couple of moments from now.
Important show note here behind the scenes, Lee the Lap
received a phone call just a few moments ago, and
you're probably thinking to yourself.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
What's a big deal.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Well, it wasn't even four in the morning out here
on the West Coast on a Tuesday. So Lee, who
was calling you just before four in the morning on
a Tuesday.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
Oh, I can give you a guess, and you probably
get it in the first guest right there, that would
be mister Todd. Todd was giving me a call wondering
what day it was. Oh wow, last I talked to you, guys,
I told you I had skipped out on the game
day festivities with Todd and his brothers going to the
Seahawks Rams game. It's a good thing I did, because

(01:59):
a pair they time traveled till about two hours ago.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Uh, time travel two hours.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
So he knows that you're working and he called to
ask what you're.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
Doing while you were on air? By the way, what
are you doing for Thanksgiving? What am I doing? For Thanksgiving.
I was, well, you're invited, buddy at three fifty five
in the morning.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Yeah, why not?

Speaker 5 (02:21):
A couple of days I do only have Can we
have Todd discuss all this?

Speaker 3 (02:25):
I can probably give him a call? Yeah, come on, I.

Speaker 6 (02:28):
Mean TOAs doesn't want it, but I'm curious to hear
the story from his side.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
I would love to hear. Wait, time travel even sounds
like from Todd. Yeah, yes, absolutely. I mean Lee was
laid back at it, one hand on his head, had
the phone up like with having.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Really I thought it was a different conversation with a
different person.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
You and I were trying to guess, like clearly talking.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
Clearly that was the right that was the right call.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Yeah, now we are going to time travel a little
bit for you guys here. Brady Quinn lebar Arrington brought
up che Cheese Mexican restaurant.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
That's very true.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
So there was a deep dive research wise to what
happened to chee Cheese Mexicans.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
They're not around anymore.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Do you have an update in the words of Robert
Stack for what happened to chi cheese from years ago?

Speaker 3 (03:15):
That's right, multitask and checking out.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
Uh, I went back and looked at Chi Cheese history
and why they decided to file for bankruptcy back in
two thousand and two. It turns out it was because
of a hepatitis a breakout in Beaver, Pennsylvania that was
traced back to their green onions in their Chi cheese salsa. Salsification,
by the way, was a trademark by Chi Cheese Salsification.

(03:39):
I don't know what that meant, but yeah, their green
onions in their chi cheese salsa led to a deadly
outbreak of more than at least four deaths in the
Pennsylvania area.

Speaker 6 (03:51):
I'm glad, okay, I mean, so they couldn't survive that.

Speaker 4 (03:56):
Huh No, Apparently Outback Steakhouse bought the bought the company,
converted all the Chee Cheese restaurant.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
I'm glad you guys made out.

Speaker 6 (04:03):
Of there, and then they took it down under. Yeah,
I'll be here all week.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
Hey, we got you right here, baby.

Speaker 6 (04:20):
That was served up like a blooming onion.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
Hey, I'm glad you guys got out of there live.
You didn't walk out with a good for you. I mean,
I think.

Speaker 6 (04:38):
Probably stronger. You know, you might have battled through some
back to went on there.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
Maybe we went there quite a bit.

Speaker 6 (04:46):
Trust me, that place was wild. It was so much fun.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
I'm throw another one at you, Q Ponderosa Oh steakhouse.

Speaker 6 (04:55):
Yeah, but it's like a buff.

Speaker 5 (04:57):
I can't even I can't even share my exp ariants
once time.

Speaker 6 (05:00):
I just I'll put it this way. We went there
after a uh we went.

Speaker 5 (05:05):
There after a spring bread baseball tournament, and uh, it all,
it all came right back.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
Oh was that the Jack Daniels Is that when you
found out you were allergic?

Speaker 6 (05:16):
No, I'm not allergic to Jack Danel.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
No, you were drinking Jack Daniels. You found out you
were allergic to shellfish.

Speaker 5 (05:23):
Yeah, yeah, that was different. That was Yeah, that was
when I was. I was in Southeast for that one. Yeah,
that was stone crab season, possibly the greatest thing I've
ever tasted.

Speaker 6 (05:34):
And my face blew up like Will Smith in the movie.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
Hitch Get out There.

Speaker 6 (05:40):
I walked.

Speaker 5 (05:40):
I remember I was sitting next to Eric Winston, and
I remember I walked back to the table. He was like,
did you just get in a fight? I was like,
what do you mean? I was like, my face feels itchy.
He goes, dude to shellfish I'm like, sorry, man, I'm
from the Midwest.

Speaker 6 (05:53):
We were meating potatoes type family and.

Speaker 5 (05:57):
He's like, he need to go get you some beta
drills stat I said, okay, So we're like running into
a CBS like I'm pounding Ben andger old drinking. He's like,
all right, let's go to my buddy spot. Let's get
some drinks before we go out. I'm like, okay, had
no idea. This is how ignorant I was, especially in
college like that. Obviously alcohol counteracts and of histam. So

(06:18):
I put a hat on, rolled out and up going
to the Cleveland. That was a fun time.

Speaker 6 (06:22):
You werenically enough. Someone else puked up a shot.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
Wow, lot of puke. You know those stone crabs that
that those claws, they only chop off one and they
throw the crab back.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
Did you know that?

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Yeah, they chop off one of those big ass crab
claws that you get at Joe's.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
And they they they throw them back.

Speaker 6 (06:46):
I feel like that's I mean, is that worse? Does
it grow back?

Speaker 1 (06:50):
I think it grows back. Okay, I think they regenerate.
But but just to keep the population healthy, that makes.

Speaker 5 (06:56):
Sense then, But I do feel bad for the stone
crab that period of time, like these a holes are
just gonna pick us up, chop off a claw.

Speaker 6 (07:03):
And throw us back. Now, I got a deal not
having a claw for the next year.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
Let me look up if their claw and then they're
gonna do it.

Speaker 6 (07:09):
Again the next year. Is that what you're saying here?
Imagine if someone did that to you.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
No, I don't know, ay Mark, I don't worrybody, We're
coming back for the others.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
I guess it's better.

Speaker 5 (07:21):
Than like the lobsters that's sit in those tanks that
are like at the restaurant.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
Yeah, look at them, looking them you know, he's added there.

Speaker 6 (07:30):
Yeah, imagine like that.

Speaker 5 (07:32):
Gotta turn around like you're in a glass case and
everyone's just pointed.

Speaker 6 (07:35):
You and like I'm gonna eat you. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
Yeah, I don't.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
I don't want to see the process. But it's tasty.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
I mean it is. It's good. You can get it.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
Stone crabs is returning them to the water. I don't
even know that work purportedly to regenerate, so it does
regenerate their claws. I just think of just growing back. Yeah, everybody, Oh,
hold on. A FWC study found that approx mentally forty

(08:05):
percent of the crabs died. By the way, there's one
claw was torn off. Nearly two thirds died when both
claws were removed.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
Oh yeah, but there's hope.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
There's a turkey walking around somewhere and a farm going,
hey man, we got like two days, so enjoy what
you can here. And meanwhile they're throwing crabs back in.
They're growing their limbs back.

Speaker 3 (08:23):
See, there's hope.

Speaker 6 (08:24):
Yeah, that's all. I could never have been a farmer
to raise that stuff.

Speaker 5 (08:27):
I could just I could never raise something and feeding
them like, well, that day, someone's got to eat.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
Try explain to that to your girls when they get older.

Speaker 5 (08:37):
Trust me, we've already we've already been to some different
you know, little farms or your pet animals and all that.

Speaker 6 (08:43):
And then they tried, you know, they tried something for
the first time. What's that. Well, it's kind of like
the animals.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
You just pay Hey, daddy, what happened in my turkey?

Speaker 3 (08:51):
Check your lunch? You know what's fun.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
In the South, they call the fish the little little lobsters,
crawl fish, they call them crawfish, but where we're from,
we call them crayfish.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
Did you call them crayfish? In Ohio? Call them crawdads
out here, crawl dad.

Speaker 5 (09:08):
I'll be honest with you again, I was not very
cultured when it comes to this sort of thing, so
I only knew them as crawlfish.

Speaker 6 (09:17):
So that's that's how.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
You could catch them.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
You could catch them in like little creeks, and they
were we called them crayfish, but they were there crawlfish,
I guess, I mean. But anyway, yeah, we never knew
that I'd ended up eating them. By the way, I've
had crawfish. They're really good too.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
Listen. I mean I think, uh, well, there you go.
That way to start a show.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
I'm just telling you that's a way to start the hour.
So thoughts and prayers out to chie Cheese Mexican restaurant.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
That's kind of jack.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
And whenever crabs don't survive that amputation, that sucks this one.

Speaker 5 (09:53):
Sometimes it feels like you're you're when you get benched
as a quarterback, you get amputated.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
Right, Oh, that's a great point, especially when it feels
like it's the same thing that happened last year, Like
these crabs just kept going back in. You know, you're
just throwing back because Zach Wilson Zach Wilson has grown
into his for a second year in a row, his
role as the third quarterback on the team.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
That is now the situation there with the New York.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
Jets, Robert Sala announcing yesterday, so look, we're gonna go
ahead and we're gonna announce Tim Boyle as the starting quarterback.
Oh and don't worry about it, Trevor Simeon is going
to be the backup.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
And so be third.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
So he's ended up exactly where he was last se
same exact and almost the same exact time as well too.
I believe it was late November last year as well
too that this happened. And so now Zach Wilson finds
him and that finds himself in that spot. So Robert Sala,
the coach of the New York Jets, spoke with the
media yesterday about the situation, the decision and Zach Wilson's future.

Speaker 7 (10:52):
Well, a decision to go exemple, honestly, you know, just
give him an opportunity. A different style of quarterback is
just to give him an opportunity. See if we can
do something with the offense.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
What will the status of Zach be this week Roberts.

Speaker 7 (11:06):
Trevor going to be the backup?

Speaker 3 (11:07):
Is that going to be the backup?

Speaker 7 (11:09):
Is all three will be up on game day? Trevor
will be the immediate backup.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
What is Zach's future with this team?

Speaker 7 (11:16):
We'll deal with it in the offseason, guys. Right now,
it's just it's really about Miami.

Speaker 5 (11:21):
You think, in retrospect you should have had a more
prove its number two quarterback.

Speaker 7 (11:25):
No, Like we said, you know, we think Zach is
incredibly talented, felt like he'd get an opportunity to sit
behind Aaron and just learn. When you look at Zach,
he's never really had an opportunity to watch somebody play
the play the position. Joe Flackall was fantastic, Mike White
did some good things, but to just sit back and
just watch from the ground up, and that was his
opportunity with Aaron, and four plays in he's back into

(11:47):
the starting lineup. So he never really got to really
sit back and kind of absorb and just get that
red shirt year that you would have loved to have
given him.

Speaker 5 (11:56):
Well, it is considering the fact that, I mean, do
we forget he missed eight games?

Speaker 6 (12:01):
Was on half the season? Right, he didn't play for
half the season.

Speaker 5 (12:03):
Last week had watch Yeah, I just look, I said
my piece yesterday. I'll reiterate what that is. This doesn't
give the Jets the best chance to win, then this
is no disrespect to Tim Boyle. It's not you know,
he he has started a few games back in twenty
twenty one during his time with the Detroit Lions. It

(12:24):
didn't work out, you know too well, and you know
it's it's a tough spot to be in for Tim Boyle, right.
But to Sylele's point, I mean, he's a different quarterback.
He's not as mobile as Zach Wilson, as I can
assure you of that. Boyle was a young man, came
out of Connecticut once at Yukon for the beginning of
his career, and then ended up transferring after that.

Speaker 6 (12:47):
I believe it was Eastern Kentucky.

Speaker 5 (12:49):
But you know, he was undrafted free agent, you know,
And it's kind of interesting to statistically speaking, you know,
looking at his you know stats and and all that
over his career. I mean, twelve touchdowns to twenty six
interceptions through for over you know, three thousand yards for
his entire career in college.

Speaker 6 (13:03):
So there wasn't a Ton there.

Speaker 5 (13:05):
He's obviously built up a lot of equity with folks
in Green Bay who initiates with for two years, and
then Detroit, Chicago, now with the Jets, and so he
gets a shot. He gets his opportunity to try to
showcase what he's capable of. The bottom line is Mike
White was able to ball this into a backup job
with the Dolphins, and so that's Tim Boyle's opportunity is

(13:27):
he gets a real chance to go in there, try
to play well enough to see if he could continue
to keep finding work, whether it's with the Jets in
the future. Give him that he had previous rapport with
Aaron Rodgers, who will be back for next year, or
you know, some other team. But this does not give
the Jets a better chance of winning. I'm sorry, I
don't care how bad people think Zach Wilson has played.

(13:48):
It's been better than what it was in previous years,
and he gives them the best chance with his arm, talent,
his ability to move around, he still gives them the
best chance to win football games. This is just a
change for change his sake.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
And Robert Saal also said yesterday that you know he
moved there was other changes that took place, and he
rattled those off. The point is he talked about they
moved the coordinator up to the booth, they made changes
to the running back room, they made changes here over there,
and all that. It just it feels like all of
this stuff was avoidable a long time ago, and yet

(14:24):
here we are, second straight year, second straight time of
the season, and now Zach Wilson is presumably the quote
unquote fall guy, when the reality is he was put
in a bad spot from the jump, and we mentioned
it yesterday. He was he was announced as they were
going to make him the starter to just right out
of the gate his rookie year, like that was the
plan there, There was no real plan, They didn't have

(14:46):
much of a veteran presence. They finally brought in Joe
Flacco what like five six games into the season after
he was struggling, which should have probably always been the plan.
So when he's talking about red shirt year, wouldn't his
rookie year have been the red shirt year that you
wanted to give him a little bit of time to
watch true, Like he's like talking about red shirt years,
I just I don't. So it just feels like a

(15:07):
lot of this could have been avoided a long time ago.
And now Zach Wilson's being benched again and demoted to
third string again.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
I mean the translation is he's First of all, he's
gone from New York. That's that's translation. Second, I just
can't take it anymore, Like if he if he wanted
to be real, you know, he's thinking to himself, I
just can't take him being the starter of this team anymore,
because why wouldn't you just demote him to backup? You
took him that down the third string. He's not even

(15:36):
the immediate backup.

Speaker 5 (15:38):
He's the biggest injury. They don't want him to play again.
Get injured, then they can't trade him the office. That's
that's a session.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
Go to this. Yeah, well they don't want him. He's gone.

Speaker 1 (15:48):
And then now the question becomes does he have enough
body of work or does he have enough potential? Because
to me, Robert Silas saying that this is an incredibly
talented kid just didn't get the opportunity to develop, says
to me, it's like, look, you want this car. I
didn't really like driving it, but you may you may
get into the driver's seat and it may be a

(16:10):
totally different experience to you. But you'd have to assume
he doesn't have enough success and enough body of work
to be considered to be a starting quarterback in another
franchise situation. So he's going somewhere to be basically somebody's backup. Yeah,
I mean maybe uh Rock Perty's backup, you know. I mean,
Kyle Shannon seems to do wonders of the quarterbacks, so

(16:32):
maybe that's the next step, the next phase here for
Zach Wilson.

Speaker 3 (16:35):
Who knows.

Speaker 2 (16:36):
But I mean, look, I mean, Rogers is going to
start practicing in what less than two weeks from now
they're talking about, and maybe he comes back and plays
late in the season. It just it feels like we
were at the fork in the road moment for the
Jets a couple of weeks ago, and this is just
where their season's going to add. Yeah, well, man, I

(17:00):
don't think Robert sala is going to be on the
hot seat because I think that they want to give
him a legitimate chance with Rogers for a full season.

Speaker 1 (17:08):
But it does feel like if it doesn't work with
Aaron Rodgers, let me tell you something. Yeah, Wood, he's
somewhere and he's got the same facial expressions that Robert
Sala has towards Zach Wilson Wood, he has him towards
Robert Sala.

Speaker 3 (17:23):
Believe that you.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
Think, so yeah, hell yeah, if they mess up. If
they mess it up next year, when they get Aaron Rodgers,
that's over.

Speaker 3 (17:31):
They're blowing it up.

Speaker 5 (17:33):
I would say this, I want to see them all
make it the next year, you know, based on how
this year is gone. You know, it's always injuries that
you get owners that sometimes still want to hit the
panic button or want to make a change. And what
concerns me is they're making a change for change's sake. Now,
even though you know, again I don't think Tim Boyle

(17:55):
is going to drastically change this offense. I do wonder
if where that pressure came from. If that was Robert
Saul in the locker room saying I'm losing my locker
room if I don't do something and start making changes.

Speaker 6 (18:08):
If it was somewhere above that, and they said we
got to do something, we got to do something.

Speaker 5 (18:13):
So I do wonder if that's going to be the
same sentiment after the season, is, hey, we got to
make a change somewhere front office, you know, what I'm
saying that we have to do something.

Speaker 6 (18:22):
I hope that's not the case.

Speaker 5 (18:23):
I hope they all make it to into twenty twenty four,
a healthy Aaron Rodgers, a roster that's built up to
help support Aaron Rodgers, because I think that's one of
the best stories to see what they're capable of.

Speaker 6 (18:34):
But you never know.

Speaker 5 (18:36):
In the NFL, all these owners, they just start listening
to everyone in the outside and the media pressure and
they panic and they make a change for change's sake.
And unfortunately that's what we're seeing right now in New York.

Speaker 2 (18:48):

difficult decisions here and choices on the air. So that'll

I hope he doesn't turn you off on the questions, man,
after good questions, Yeah, come on with some good questions.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
Come on. I had great questions last week.

Speaker 4 (20:40):
Yeah, Okay, they're just uh, you know, there are hard questions,
that's all.

Speaker 3 (20:44):
Yeah, difficult stuff, good.

Speaker 4 (20:46):
Questions about deathly Yeah, I asked the hard hitting questions here.

Speaker 3 (20:52):
I'm not afraid of it, a hard hit you're not
afraid of death.

Speaker 6 (20:54):
Now.

Speaker 2 (20:55):
We're just trying to do an upbeat sportsnock radio show
and top bodies. It's just, you know, a little disappointing
for I think people listening, like, would you rather die
before your spouse?

Speaker 1 (21:06):
Which, by the way, Lee's not even married, so it
makes it a buffoonery question because he doesn't even understand
the amount of emotional attachment that that would feel like,
So you would have to be married to qualify that question.

Speaker 6 (21:21):
Can we do this? Can I send you guys something?

Speaker 3 (21:24):
Yes?

Speaker 6 (21:25):
Over the break you watch it and we talk about
it the next segment.

Speaker 5 (21:29):
Because I feel like it kind of plays on this,
But it's an interesting Concept's pretty funny.

Speaker 2 (21:33):
Okay, So for would you rather well do that kind
of modified here.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
We've just modified you Lee, I'll take and then now
you can scream at Q if this doesn't work out. Yeah,
see there you go. Now the way it is on Que,
the pressure makes sense. Well, the pressure like this, The
pressure is going to be on Q right now. The
pressure is going to be our Brady Quinn right now
because we've got the college football playoff rankings that are

(21:59):
set to later on and look, this is all in
anticipation rivalry weekend in college football and the game and
some of the other great matchups that we've got coming
up over the course of this holiday weekend. So as
we look at this now, Brady Quinn, would you like
to call your shot and tell us what it's going
to look like in the potential of maybe a team

(22:22):
at the end of this whole thing getting in that
could piss off a lot of people.

Speaker 5 (22:26):
Yeah, well, there's a lot of different scenarios that could
play out. We're not quite there yet. Thanks for the
great tease. Here's what you're going to see coming up
this week. You're going to see Washington leap frog Florida State.
And the reason why we've already seen it in the
Ape Pole is the fact that Washington just got another
quality win going to Corvallis and beating Oregon State.

Speaker 6 (22:45):
They've just got a better resume at this point.

Speaker 5 (22:47):
Now, the injury to Jordan Travis, who has kind of
sent out his nope, tragic injury. Tough spot, had a
great career, He's no longer going to play college football anymore,
and he won't be able to lead the undefeated Florida
State Seminoles to the ACC championship game. So Tate Roademaker
will come in. He played well enough obviously to help
him get the win. But this week, big robbery game

(23:10):
versus Florida and then after that a matchup with Louisville
in the AEC Championship game. There's a lot on the line.
And I'm not saying that Florida State can't win out
and get in. I don't think they can lose one.
I don't think they can lose to Florida this week,
and I don't think they cann be a twelve and
one non conference champ and get in with their resume. Now,
the last team to have a backup quarterback to make

(23:32):
it into the College Football Playoff that we had questions about, Like,
this was Ohio State the first year of the College
Football Playoff. Member wasn't the first string, wasn't the second string.
It was Cardale Jones, their third string quarterback. And that's
where Ohio State went in the Big Ten Championship game,
blew out Wisconsin, and.

Speaker 6 (23:51):
Then was able to be Bama and Oregon for the
National Championship.

Speaker 5 (23:54):
So because of the history of this, I think the
College Footballlayoff Committee will be patient the way to see
what this Florida State team looks like with Tate Roademaker.
It will factor in in the end. But here's what's
going to be really really interesting. Okay, what throws chaos
into the College Football Playoff Committee's lap is if Bama beats.

Speaker 6 (24:15):
Georgia in the SEC Championship.

Speaker 3 (24:18):
Camp.

Speaker 5 (24:19):
Look, we know someone's gonna win in between Ohio State
and Michigan. The loser is out of the College Football
Playoff contention. Okay, so you're gonna have one of those
two move on to the Big Ten Championship. I assume
be able to beat Iowa. No disrespect to Iowa, but
you know, they just have a hard time scoring even
though it's a great defense, good special team's well coach team.

(24:40):
So you're gonna get one Big ten champion, either Ohio
State or Michigan, and then you've got, all right, the
SEC champ, and if it ends up being Bama at
twelve and one, what gets crazy is this, the competition
for the other two spots is potentially an undefeated FSU
team that's an AC champ with a backup quarterback, either

(25:02):
a one loss Organ Pat Trol champ or an undefeated
Washington Pat twlve champ, and then you could potentially have
a twelve to one Texas Big twelve champ. And what
gets crazy about that is is how could you leave
Texas out given that they beat Bama in Tuscaloosa earlier

(25:23):
in the season. So if the Big ten champion gets in,
if the SEC champ gets in, you have two spots left.
Would you think Texas, who's currently sitting at number seven,
finds their way in, which means there's only one spot
left between the PAC twelve.

Speaker 6 (25:38):
Champ and the ACC champ.

Speaker 5 (25:40):
In this scenario, Florida State and Oregon, even with one loss,
will have a much better resume and a Heisman finalist,
maybe even the winner in bo Nicks.

Speaker 6 (25:50):
I have a hard time.

Speaker 5 (25:51):
Believing they would get left out, So it's crazy to think,
but I do think there's a possibility that you could
get a one loss Pat trewl champ going into a
for an undefeated ACC champ given the lack of strength
to schedule from Florida State.

Speaker 6 (26:05):
In this scenario, they only have two wins over ranked
teams this season.

Speaker 3 (26:08):
Aren't you going to miss this when it's gone?

Speaker 2 (26:10):
Once we get twelve teams, then it's like, you know,
now we're stretching.

Speaker 5 (26:15):
What I miss about it is you don't get it
feels like a more of an NFL style, like who
gets the buye, who.

Speaker 6 (26:21):
Gets home field?

Speaker 5 (26:23):
And then that scenario comes and then and then we
kind of get in the playoffs we saw it plays out.
I honestly feel now that we've had the four team
playoff for a while, you probably could have had the
BCS model. You probably could have just had the top
two teams that the BCS would have computed and call
it the College Football Playoff Committee.

Speaker 6 (26:40):
But if they would have, if they've.

Speaker 5 (26:42):
Actually tracked it pretty similar to the BCS for the
most part.

Speaker 6 (26:45):
You could have just had those two teams playoff for it,
and I think we all would have been good.

Speaker 5 (26:49):
Because this is a year where I think Georgia looks
like one of the definitive vests. And right now it's
hard because Michigan's so banged up. They haven't played as
well of late. Ohio States played great of late, But
it feels like it maybe could be Maybe Oregon. Oregon's
fights a good football in Washington undefeated, they looked good
this past week and being.

Speaker 6 (27:08):
Able to get to win there.

Speaker 3 (27:09):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (27:10):
Maybe a four team is good for this year, but
most years it's kind of been. The top two teams
have been the top two teams.

Speaker 2 (27:15):
See people don't remember back in the old days, you
could have day, you could have co national champion.

Speaker 1 (27:20):
Which is whack. Well yeah, I was the eight people whack.
So we should have had our last undefeated season. We
should have been the champs, and we should have had
the Heisman. We got robbed on both who got robbed
on the heismans? Kajana Carter baby, Yeah, I mean shouts
out to my my Hall of Fame brother and rest
his soul in Rashaan Salam he did win it and

(27:44):
was deserving, but Kejohana should have won. And I'm just
saying that was the best team in the world that
that year. Was that ninety four? I think I was
and that was the year in Nebraska. Imagine this, Nebraska
and Penn State went defeed it.

Speaker 3 (28:01):
Huh how about that? Yeah? How about it? How about
them Apples?

Speaker 5 (28:06):
I do think it's gonna be interesting to see how
this all plays out. And I don't want to get
the car ahead the horse here, but you got football
left to be played. There's upsets, right, Washington's got to
play the Apple Cup, by the way. Also interesting note
they've extended that rivalry to I believe what twenty twenty
nine so myself, which is awesome.

Speaker 6 (28:24):
And I don't know why we can't do that for Bedlam.

Speaker 2 (28:26):
Oh you could, but you know, I actually kind of
blame Mike Gundy because Mike Gundy's been the most vocal
and I don't cry baby's a harsh term, but it's
a bit ridiculous, dude. You could easily make that rivalry
still stand. And for some reason, Mike gun you know, no,
they chose to leave. They chose to leave. It's like
you're ruining it for one the sake of stubbornness.

Speaker 1 (28:44):
They come on, dude, so can I cannot ask this
question to you guys. It's going to extend the college
football season by.

Speaker 6 (28:54):
One week, I believe, is it? Or maybe not?

Speaker 5 (28:57):
Actually, I think it's just gonna the way they're planning
it out, it's gonna extend it. They'll stay the same,
They'll just there won't be as big of a gap
between the conference championship and then when they play their
next game.

Speaker 6 (29:09):
And obviously that's on me for the eight teams.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
When the playoff expands, Yes.

Speaker 6 (29:14):
You're not pushing it back.

Speaker 5 (29:16):
It's just you'll have those eight teams will play sooner
in that first round game, and then it'll start up
into the subsequent rounds.

Speaker 1 (29:24):
And the next question becomes, do you see the college
football schedule expanding? Like you think about these mega conferences,
Why wouldn't you expand the season?

Speaker 3 (29:35):
I don't think.

Speaker 5 (29:35):
Look, I'm more of a quality over quantity. I'd rather
see them, you know, stay at twelve. Because the hard
part is now, it's like the conference championship games. If
you're a if you're a conference champ, there's a chance
that you might not even get a buye. So yeah,
you get home field advantage, which is good for the
economics and trying to make an easier path. I guess,

(29:57):
but I don't know, honestly, Like I'd rather see it.

Speaker 6 (30:00):
Keep it at twelve, don't expand.

Speaker 5 (30:02):
It's enough on these players as it is, but make
them all play nine conference games instead of this whole
someplay eight, some play nine. Make it all level. Everyone
plays nine. Then you've got your three non conference You
can figure that out. One big boy, one directional school
that you're gonna pay a million bucks or you know
however much to come play you, and then you can
figure out the rest for there.

Speaker 2 (30:23):
Well, listen, I know this in ann Arbor this weekend

Speaker 4 (32:18):
How's just working? All right, you guys, I'll set this
up a little bit. We talked a little bit about
last week's would you rather or? I asked would you
rather pass away before or after your spouse your significant other?
Which you guys were not too happy about it. I
thought it was a good question. But anyway, that led
to and even better would you rather? From friend of
the show Shane Gillis. If you don't know Shane Gillis,
he's a very famous comedian, very good show.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
Show buddies with Brady Quinn.

Speaker 3 (32:42):
Like to be.

Speaker 6 (32:44):
Oh easy, come on show us. Why do you do

I think we would have been funny together, very funny. Well,
he loves you, that's what I love him back.

Speaker 6 (32:55):
He wore he wore your credential the field. He was
LeVar Erry.

Speaker 4 (33:02):
Really I am Shane Gillis. Well, Shane Gillis did have
a bit that pose day. Would you rather if you
were going down on a plane, who would you call?
Would you call a significant other? Would you call somebody else?
Listen to this bit from Shane Gillis.

Speaker 3 (33:17):
If you have someone you like a call, I would.

Speaker 6 (33:22):
It's ricks on a buddy.

Speaker 3 (33:24):
This is Shane with the Red Super Yeah, you gotta
sucking your job. I'm gonna come down there and beat
the stupid bitch.

Speaker 6 (33:31):
All right, I'll be down in ten minutes.

Speaker 3 (33:33):
Get ready, you better start touching. Want to wear you out,
dumb ass, ten minutes?

Speaker 6 (33:38):
Park you out? Excuse me?

Speaker 3 (33:41):
What?

Speaker 8 (33:42):
What?

Speaker 6 (33:43):
Hey? Did you have loved ones to call? Call? My
wife and the kids listening to her bitch.

Speaker 1 (33:47):
At me for the last five minutes, I got They
got way better too.

Speaker 3 (33:54):
There was more to it.

Speaker 6 (33:55):
Yeah, they got that.

Speaker 3 (33:56):
There was more to it.

Speaker 2 (33:57):
By the way, that last part we didn't play.

Speaker 6 (33:59):
He's not.

Speaker 3 (34:06):
Somebody's going to console you, okay.

Speaker 5 (34:08):
And the only so I found this hilarious because I
was flying this past week and as we detailed in
the FSR I R and we didn't have Wi Fi,
I was like really spotty, and I started thinking to myself, like,
if this did go down, like I'm not really gonna
be able to contact anyone if there is an issue
right before.

Speaker 6 (34:25):
But then, like, listen to this scenario.

Speaker 5 (34:27):
I'm thinking, well, why would I though, like, wouldn't that
be a tragic thing for you to get a text
message from someone saying like, hey, it's not looking good.
You know, love you? Like maybe they'd want to hear
one last time. Usually I say it to the you know,
my loved ones before I take off anyway, But then
I thought to myself, like, but what if what if
you could send something to someone that you really have

(34:47):
been meaning to say something to that you dislike and
haunt them the rest of their life?

Speaker 6 (34:52):
Like, There's two different ways of looking at this.

Speaker 5 (34:55):
So it was kind of interesting that the topic that
he played out, well.

Speaker 1 (34:59):
I cannot take this a step further. It doesn't have
to be somebody that you necessarily hate. Maybe it's just
somebody that you just necessarily decided that you were going
to say exactly what you thought and what you felt.

Speaker 3 (35:11):
How about that?

Speaker 6 (35:12):
And that a nice way of putting it.

Speaker 5 (35:14):
But my question to you is would I rather do
that or would those be like hey man, hey, Rick,
you guys suck. I mean, if I'm about start stretching up,
come down there, and where you are.

Speaker 1 (35:26):
I'm just saying, if I'm about to die, the numbers
that I would have close in mine are something I
would probably talk trash. I would talk trash, but it
would be for other reasons. It wouldn't because I'm mad.
It'd just be I'm I'm just I'm gonna die, So
I'm gonna just say what I'm gonna say right now.

Speaker 2 (35:46):
I would do it on the air. I would call
and do one last segment.

Speaker 3 (35:49):
On the air.

Speaker 2 (35:50):
We call it a plane dude, Well, I'll figure it out.

Speaker 6 (35:53):
Why send it a text, question, a tweet, maybe one
last tweet, but join us.

Speaker 5 (35:57):
Can you describe what happened that Lee cut out as
far as why he would call his wife in that moment, Well, I'm.

Speaker 2 (36:04):
Glad you turn in and trust me to be professional
about this. So he was calling his wife at that
moment because.

Speaker 6 (36:10):
You know he wouldn't call us.

Speaker 2 (36:11):
Well, yeah, he wouldn't call his wife because he was
annoyed dealing with the reality that his wife would eventually
be with somebody else and pretty quick.

Speaker 3 (36:21):
So he decided and he didn't want to hear him.

Speaker 2 (36:25):
One and yeah, you get one call from jail, So
I mean you got to pick pick Risley here who
you get a call?

Speaker 5 (36:32):
So there also was a bet that he made with
a woman who was talking to a loved one. Now
their daughter would probably be watching Netflix for the first hour.

Speaker 3 (36:43):
That's so funny.

Speaker 6 (36:47):
I'll bet you a thousand dollars, make that a million.
By the way, the term that.

Speaker 2 (36:52):
He used in there, that got leaped out at the
end where he says ten minutes and the people can
find the unedited version on there. I really wish we
could say that on air, like I want so desperately
to say that on there, and if there was ever
a time that we could say it on air, and
now would be the time because Iowa, Sam's not here
the principal.

Speaker 1 (37:13):
But I mean, we still have to dump it air
and then they hear it on the podcast and then
we probably well you would probably be removed from the show,
but I would probably get removed from it because I
would follow up with maybe two more after you.

Speaker 2 (37:29):
It's only a term that a guy uses to another
guy too. It's it's it's exclusive. Is kind of funny,
right because it is not a guy. It's just kind
of funny. That is so yeah, that's that is that's
that's too bad we can't use that. But Shane Gillis,
that's hilarious.

Speaker 6 (37:48):
I wish you could have the back portion of it.

Speaker 3 (37:50):
Just all right. So the question is what we do it?
What would you do? Are you hitting the level?

Speaker 6 (38:00):
Yeah, I'd send something to my loved ones or maybe
just nothing at all. I just I don't know.

Speaker 3 (38:04):
Pray I tell them I love them before I take
off anyway.

Speaker 1 (38:07):
Yeah, and I text messaged during the flight, So if
I was going down and be like, hey, i'll see y'all.

Speaker 3 (38:13):
I'll see y'all later, I'd make them if you got them,
I'd make one last bet.
