(01:27):
So we have talked all season long about the best
of the best, the best division in football, and the
best division in football has been the AFC North, no doubt.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
And it was a.
Speaker 5 (01:39):
Banner day for the AFC yesterday, most notably, or the
AFC North, I should say most notably because the Steelers
weren't playing. So that's why it really was a showcase
performance for the AFC North, because God forbid, nobody wants
to have to sit there and watch whatever Steelers are
going to roll out on offense again. So with that
being said, you had the Baltimore Ravens winning in overtime
(02:02):
a thriller against the Rams at home on a punt
return for a score. You had the Cincinnati Bengals and
Jake Browning getting it done yet again over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
And you had yourself the damn Cleveland Browns. The Cleveland
Browns and Joe Flacco who get it done and he
continues to impress, so much so that Kevin Stefanski has
(02:25):
named Joe Flacco the starter for the rest of the
year and spoke glowingly about his brand new quarterback.
Speaker 6 (02:33):
I think a player that's been around and has had
the career that he's had, he can really lean on
his experiences, lean on his games that he's played, the
different systems he's been in. And he just told that
to the football team, just where you know, some of
the things that he's been through and now we as
a team have been through, it is good for you
in the end.
Speaker 5 (02:52):
So Brown's over the Jags, let me correct myself, and
the Bengals getting it done over the Indianapolis colst But
how about the AFC North yesterday game?
Speaker 4 (03:01):
On everyone right now? Eeveryone's above five hundred.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
The Baltimore Ravens obviously in the number one overall seed
in the AFC playoff picture if the playoffs started today.
But yeah, the Browns at eight and five Pittsburgh Steelers
in Cincinnati booth, that's seven and six.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
It's it's crazy.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
Too, considering the Browns are now playing with their fourth
quarterback this season started a game for them in Joe Flacco.
The Bengals are winning games with Jake Browning their backup
now in a two game winning streak. He's played extremely
well for them.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
I'm not sure what.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
They're making the Steelers at this point, they're seven and six,
three and one within the.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
Division by the way, best winning percentage in the in
the division. But you know, not.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
Knowing what's the deal is with with Pickett's that's a concern,
you know, moving forward and how this whole thing is
going to shake out, because their offense, clearly with Trubisky,
just couldnot get it done. All that being said, the
Flakill story is the most interesting one because this is
a Browns team that, at least in the short term,
(04:03):
when Dobbs got the Arizona and got to Minnesota, you
might have been saying to yourselves once Deshaun Watson was
going through the injuries, what is happening? Like why didn't
we keep Josh Dobbs in the first place? He seems
to be doing better somewhere else. And then also with
the way Flacco is played, it makes you wonder why,
for example, the New York Jets didn't want to retain
(04:24):
him or keep them there, like that makes no sense,
Like if you're a recall again, Flacco was the quarterback
for the Jets last season, and what was a week two,
Week three, but they went to Cleveland won that miraculous
comeback game with the final two minutes down by two scores,
and that was Joe Flacco. And so I'm not sure
(04:44):
why the Jets didn't want to try to bring him
in out of a veteran guy in the room. Maybe
because they thought, well, Plan A is Aaron Rodgers, and
we don't need another veteran there. We've got Aaron Rodgers
once he got hurt four plays and you should have
immediately went to Joe Flacco. And so we need to
have a veteran guy in the event that Aaron Rodgers
can come back. And look, maybe they had that conversation
(05:08):
and you know Flaccos in there saying like, well, I
don't want to go in to be the guy and
then be unseated by Aaron Rodgers. I've won a Super
Bowl before, I've been to Super Bowl MVP, like, I've
played a lot in this league. You know, who knows
what the conversation was, if there even was a conversation,
But it does make you wonder that for a number
of teams, seeing how well he's played, but I also
(05:29):
think he's the perfect fit for what the Browns need
right now, like really what they need as a quarterback
who can take shots downfield and manage the game.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
And that's what he's done so far.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
He's taken advantage of some of the big plays downfield,
and he's managed the game and really for the most part,
taking care of the football. He's had a couple of picks,
but you know, it's tough too, getting to a new system,
new team, you know, learning everything and operating at a
high level. I'm sure the more he plays, the better
things will get offensively for him within the system. But
(06:00):
with that defense, with their ground game, they're off the
line like that. That's a winning formula with Joe Flacco there,
so good for him, good for the Browns. It's just
kind of crazy it took them this long to bring
in a veteran guy like this who clearly can get
the job done.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
And if and if you.
Speaker 5 (06:16):
Look at Joe Joe fla is that Donald Trump?
Speaker 3 (06:22):
Donald Trump saying Joe Flacco. So when you when you
look at the Browns, they do have another buye.
Speaker 5 (06:33):
We get it's weird that the NFL would schedule them
with you know, another bye week coming up.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
They've got the Bears. Uh, and then they're gonna be
at Houston. Well, I mean you.
Speaker 4 (06:41):
Said they just drummed the Lions.
Speaker 5 (06:43):
I mean, well, you know, for the Lions appear to
be flawed. They appear to not be the same team
that they were several weeks ago. So we'll just look.
I told you I'm not you know, we just gotta
gotta wait on this one. Not going to get too
excited over what's happening in Chicago, but the Cleveland Browns, dude,
they're gonna be a playoff team. Like this is going
to be a playoff team. Joe Flacco already named the
(07:06):
starter for the rest of the season, as we pointed out,
So Joe, if you had before the year Joe Flacco
starting for a playoff team in the AFC, congratulations, that's
a big payout. Like they're gonna be a playoff team.
And Jake browning Man has been fantastic for Cincinnati, and
I just I find it interesting that in a year
where we've seen so many quarterbacks go down and get injured,
(07:29):
it does feel like backups have stepped up in a
huge way all around the NFL.
Speaker 4 (07:35):
And I don't know what some cases yet like what
that speaks to.
Speaker 5 (07:38):
But Flacco was nowhere to be found in the NFL
before a couple of weeks ago, and he steps in,
he looks great. We've talked about the Josh Dobbs a
little rough outing yesterday, but it was rough for everybody involved.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
We're not gonna just pin.
Speaker 4 (07:50):
It on him.
Speaker 5 (07:51):
And you know, Nick Mullins came in and you know,
you know, got him back into field goal range at least,
and they won that game in Vegas. But see the
way Jake Browning's played, Joe Flack go like this is
this is good. This is what we need the year
the backup quarterback in the NFL, and we could see
a couple of them starting playoffs.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
What's kind of crazy, as if the at the playoffs
were to start today, Jacksonville and Cleveland would be playing
each other in the wildcard round. Ye'd be a little rematch,
which I'm not sure who that plays the advantage of.
Obviously it would be in Jacksonville, but that'd be a
fun game. That'd be a fun one to see him,
you know, square off.
Speaker 5 (08:25):
Were you surprised like I was to see Trevor Lawrence
start this game.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
Yes, but he did get rolled up on earlier in
the season and he was able to overcome that and return.
I'm not sure if too much was made of last
week's injury or everyone right into it based on his reaction.
I mean, obviously he's a tough player, and all these
guys are tough.
Speaker 4 (08:47):
They try to play through stuff.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
You know, who knows if he got a little nectar
from nectar from the gods, you know, as we like
to call it.
Speaker 4 (08:55):
But I mean you could see in.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
Pregame warm ups where they're showing him and testing him out,
he was going to play like he looked healthy enough
and it didn't look like he was limited to any
capacity that would keep him out. But based on how
how much was made of it, I think it was
a bit surprising.
Speaker 4 (09:14):
But you know that being said, we saw Kenny Pickett.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
Hiengelsprain he has a tightrope surgery. If it was that severe,
I think most people elect to get the tightrope surgery
because of the stability it provides, and it's just a
non issue moving forward. I know former players who get it,
and they feel much better after their career is done
after having dealt with heiegel sprains, So maybe that should
have been I don't know, a teally fit into what
(09:39):
was going to happen, or him having a chance to
play because he wasn't electing for a surgery. That nowadays,
these guys are turning around after a tightrope surgery and
playing like two three, you know, two three weeks down
the road, and typically that's like a four to six
week recovery from the surgery and everything else.
Speaker 5 (09:56):
And now I don't want to reign on anybody's parade,
and that's probably the appropriate that's what you're gonna do.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
Huh term to use because you always say that and
then you do you do just exactly that.
Speaker 5 (10:07):
I mean, you know, the Ravens in the Rams yesterday
was one of the better games that you'll see all season.
I mean the La Rams, And we talked about this
early on in the year. You say whatever you want there,
they're probably look, they're probably not going to be a
playoff team. Like if I were to bet right now,
I would say the Rams are not going to be
a playoff team, but they play hard. Poka Nakoula was fantastic.
How about Pokin Nakula in the rain with no gloves,
(10:29):
No gloves, just so that's the move.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
There's some guys who want to elect for the gloves
that do well in rain, and there's others who then say,
I would rather not have any gloves and I feel
more confident catching the football with just my bare hands.
Speaker 5 (10:44):
Yeah, and they got that little little skinny tape on
the fingers. You know, old old Tim Brown looked back
in the day, So.
Speaker 4 (10:52):
Yeah, it's a skinny tape.
Speaker 5 (10:53):
You know, you were watching the Baltimore Ravens win that
game yesterday and they went on the punt return for
a touchdown by Tylan Wallace and they get it. Feels like,
you know, one of us here had a little bit
of an issue with uh with that play, that that
punt return for a touchdown.
Speaker 4 (11:10):
I have an issue with it.
Speaker 1 (11:11):
There was clearly a block in the back that helped
aid in the return. I had more of an issue
with the fact that, you know, at seven and a
half will get you sometimes.
Speaker 5 (11:21):
They got me, trust me, get it. There's there's no
worse feeling in the world than knowing you've got a
team to win by more than six and it goes
into overtime. It's just like this does me, no good
like this, you know, I almost I.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
Was rooting for the usually like most people just say,
all right, I just hope they get that.
Speaker 5 (11:42):
I hope they lose, now, yeah, one hundred percent. I
hope they lose, and I hope it's in heartbreaking fashion.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
But it was not.
Speaker 5 (11:48):
Baltimore picks up the win. That was probably the worst.
Their defense is played in a long ass time against
the l A Rams. But the AFC North is rolling,
man like they're rolling. And we could still even with
all the back cups included, we could see at least two,
if not three teams in the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (12:04):
So where you at for Lamar? Though, in regards to
the MVP.
Speaker 3 (12:08):
Conversation, I think it's a three horse race. I think
it's Lamar. I think it's Dak Prescott and Brock Purty.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
Okay, but I I one hundred percent agree.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
I think those are the three guys, especially after this
past weekend. But I still feel like there should be
some love for Christian McCaffrey with what he's done.
Speaker 4 (12:28):
And I know.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
People want to say, well, we'll get Offensive Player of
the Year, like that's like Constellation Prize. It's like, well,
why why can't we include him and Tyreek Hill as
a part of this city too.
Speaker 5 (12:38):
To me, like that is the so we've talked about
this before to where like the offensive player of the
Year is almost like the fallback.
Speaker 4 (12:45):
It's like, yeah, constantly for everyone who's not a quarterback,
good year.
Speaker 5 (12:48):
That's the interesting conversation Tyreek hilversus Christian McCaffrey, like for
offensive player of the Year, because I don't know how,
even as great as McCaffrey has been, I don't know
how you give it to anybody not named Tyreek Hill,
especially if he goes on and breaks the all time
receiving yards record, and I don't want to hear well,
it's an extra game, now stop. Twenty one hundred yards
(13:11):
receiving is twenty one hundred yards receiving. He hasn't let
up the entire year. He's been great the entire year.
But McCaffrey is so damn good. And just to see
that trade and how it's worked out for him and
how it's worked out for the forty nine ers, I mean.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
If he has a per game average that goes over
and speaking of Tyreek Hill, that goes over that number,
that goes over two thousand yards like there's really no debate.
I mean, that's what it comes down to, even if
you did it for sixteen games and extrapolated it over
you know, whatever his average is now, which I don't
have out in front of me, But if he's over
two thousand yards, like there's no debate, like it's it's historical,
(13:51):
it's significant, Like I don't care that's seventeen games.
Speaker 4 (13:54):
I really don't.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
There's there's some like right now in college football, we
have like quarterbacks who are playing for forever, and you know,
they have years that don't count, like they're like, oh,
the COVID year, and like some teams only played four
or five games, well, some play ten, some play like ten, eleven, twelve,
like they count those stats, yet they don't count like
that year against the eligibility.
Speaker 4 (14:14):
So it's just kind of odd the way in some
ways we count stats and others we don't. But I digress.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
I just I hate the fact that we can't include
Tyreek Hill and Christian McCaffrey in the MVP conversation because
there's not quarterbacks. Like we've almost made the MVP just
a quarterback award at this point, and I don't know,
I'm not a.
Speaker 4 (14:34):
Big fan of that. I think you've got to incorporate
more people involved, more players.
Speaker 5 (14:37):
I think Jalen Hurts was eliminated the last two weeks
because he wasn't in a conversation, but I think the
last couple of weeks he's been eliminated. And so if
you're looking at currently speaking present odds on DraftKings, Dak
Prescott's the favorite at plus one sixty, Rock Party at
two to one, and then you've got Lamar Jackson a
plus five fifty, which hard to argue against Lamar Jackson.
(15:01):
I don't know if there's any sort of a well,
he already won it once and you know, maybe Dak's
a better story, but Lamar Jackson's been fantastic, as you
pointed out. And then you've got Jalen Hurts there. But
beyond that, Tua tyreek Hill Patrick Mahomes is on the list,
which is surprising to see Patrick Mahomes even further up
(15:22):
on the list than Christian McCaffrey. I think McCaffrey's had
a much better year in Patrick Mahomes, but that's where
things stand right now, so it does feel like it's
a three horse race.
Speaker 4 (15:29):
Dak will win it if they win the NFCS. Is
that fair to say?
Speaker 3 (15:33):
Yeah? Yeah, if they win the NFCS.
Speaker 1 (15:35):
He's leading the league right now on touchdown passes, which
both Brock and Dak have. I think, what is it like,
Dak has twenty eight touchdowns, which.
Speaker 4 (15:43):
Leads the league. As far as passing, I think Lamarland
has sixteen.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
So if it comes down to a statistical debate, and
I know Dallas probably won't have the number one overall seed,
I mean maybe not, maybe they find a way of
catching up. But if it comes down to that, I
think you're gonna see Dank with the best statistical argument
next to Brock.
Speaker 5 (16:02):
Perty Yeah, and their their yardage is like right on
par Yeah. I mean, and did Brock pretty missed a game?
Speaker 4 (16:11):
Correct, Let's go back and look.
Speaker 5 (16:15):
Yeah, but I know he was banged up, obviously he
was dealing with the concussion issue or but I don't
think Dak has had. Dak struggled in the game a
little bit against the forty nine ers. The Cardinals loss
was a bad loss, But it does feel like this
last month of the season, Brock Purty and Dak Prescott are.
Speaker 4 (16:32):
Going to be going ahead Toad for thirteen.
Speaker 5 (16:35):
Yes, so, I just it's gonna be tough, but I
do wonder. I mean, there's gonna be a lot of
hot takes that go to die if Dak Prescott wins MVP.
There's been a lot of people that have been saying,
Dak Prescott can't get it done, he can't win these games.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
He can't do this if he turns around.
Speaker 4 (16:50):
Those people who's that lead A Lap? Is he lead?
Lead A Lap has said that for a long time.
Speaker 3 (16:55):
Now, I feel like, are you Dak hater too?
Speaker 4 (16:58):
No?
Speaker 7 (16:58):
I like Dak, He's all right.
Speaker 5 (17:00):
I mean he's no Jordan Love Okay, yeah, makes all.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
For those of you listening who don't understand the backstory
to that, uh, Leita Lap is a Jordan Love fan
more and more importantly agreement Packers fan.
Speaker 4 (17:16):
However, you don't have a Jordan Love jersey right.
Speaker 7 (17:19):
Making my way, making my way downtown.
Speaker 4 (17:21):
I love it. What does he need to do in
order for you to get a jersey?
Speaker 7 (17:25):
Make the playoffs? I'll be all in with the.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
Which, by the way, like I don't know that the
division is necessarily.
Speaker 7 (17:32):
Doesn't need to win the division?
Speaker 1 (17:34):
Yeah, uh well, okay, obviously obviously not. But I'm just saying,
I don't know that the NFC North is the door
shut on that. Like, I'm not sure Detroit has a
hold on that number one overall spot for the NFC
North right now.
Speaker 7 (17:47):
I mean Vikings could take that.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
Yeah, Vikings could take it because they've got to play
them twice on the stretch.
Speaker 4 (17:52):
But also green Bay can sneak back in there.
Speaker 5 (17:53):
And also the fact that we've got double barrel action.
What do we have tonight, double barrel action on Monday
Night football coming up later on, you know, Packers at Giants. Lee,
he's gonna get throttled the game. Yeah, Yeah, when's pregame
start for that game? Well about minutes ago.
Speaker 8 (18:15):
I like how Lee just started singing a Vanessa Carlton
song too, what do.
Speaker 4 (18:19):
You start singing? Yeah? Oh, how did that come about? Lee?
Speaker 3 (18:26):
He spoke it, he spoke the lyrics.
Speaker 7 (18:28):
It's all going green Bay's way. Rams loss, Seahawks loss, oh.
Speaker 4 (18:35):
Man might be the best that.
Speaker 8 (18:38):
I was so rooting for a zero zero the first
ever zero zero game.
Speaker 7 (18:42):
Yeah, between the Vikings and the Raiders.
Speaker 3 (18:44):
They tried, They really tried.
Speaker 7 (18:45):
They tried.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
Yeah, that's bad, but you know, that's.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
All I know.
Speaker 4 (18:53):
Is this.
Speaker 5 (18:54):
I'm just glad that they moved on from Jimmy Garoppolo
because that offense I don't prove like. I'm just glad
that they you know, they moved on and they moved
on from Josh McDaniels because the Raiders offense had to improve.
I'm just glad they went ahead and took care of
all that. So at least we picked you're doing there. Yeah,
I see you're doing that ten dollars.
Speaker 4 (19:12):
It is interesting. It would normally be ten dollars. I'm
not going to call you out for it. It is.
It is interesting though.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
In the NFL, you get, like an ever head coach,
they get that initial bounce like the next week or
the next couple of weeks, and then always just kind
of fizzle Sator, Well, listen to all the air out
of the balloon just goes out.
Speaker 5 (19:29):
Jeff Saturday on his first game last year, and then

Two Pros and a Cup of Joe, Fox Sports Radio
Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you here. Coming up less
than twenty minutes from now, we are going to have
an FSRIR report any issues, injuries, ailments from a long
weekend here with the So that'll be yours here from
the tire raq dot com studios. So we talked about
(21:05):
the best division in football being the AFC North. The
Baltimore Ravens win, the Bengals win, the Browns win, we
didn't have to watch the Steelers, so it was a
really successful Sunday for the entire AFC North. And then
we transition over to the NFC South where we got
(21:26):
a problem. The problem is somebody's gonna have to win
that division and somebody's going to the playoffs, and they
don't have a winning record anybody in that division. The
Tampa Bay Buccaneers get it done. They are now in
first place in the division right now with a few
weeks left. But you've got a three way tie top
(21:46):
at six and seven record wise for the Buccaneers. The
Falcons and the Saints and the Carolina Panthers just continue
to be the worst team in football, a two game
clearance on them and the second worst team.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
What the f with the NFC South.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
Yeah, it was like this last year too, if I'm
not mistaken right, and eight to nine record ended up
winning the Vision. Now a little more parody as everyone
else was seven and ten besides the Bucks.
Speaker 4 (22:14):
So with Tom Brady is to QB going the playoffs,
But it does draw to mind looking at the playoff.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
Formatting and looking at the way we go about in
the NFL determining how teams playoff for the Super Bowl
for a chance to win the ultimate prize. And I'm
not trying to like create controversy by saying this, but
I think the idea of divisions and I understand we
do it in other.
Speaker 4 (22:42):
Sports, and it's how we go about.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
Kind of funneling, you know, teams in their conference to
be able to go play for it. I ultimately have
always thought it's not necessarily the best way of determining it.
I mean, if we're really being honest with ourselves, you
could just have two conferences and be able to take
the top teams after they play. However we go about
formulating the schedule, we could go about figuring the top
(23:07):
teams to then play off the top seven from each
because you don't always get that and especially if you've
got an eight to nine team that is going to
be able to make it and that actually not only
make it, but host a playoff.
Speaker 4 (23:19):
Game just for winning their division.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
Yeah, I've just I've never felt like that's been the
best way of looking at how we could create the
ultimately the best teams to playoff for a championship. And
so last year, for example, when you've got teams like,
you know, the Eagles and Dallas both through were double
digit win teams. I mean, Philly was phenomenal at fourteen
(23:42):
and three. In Minnesota thirteen and forty, I guess you
could question, maybe you know what the record was because
all their close.
Speaker 4 (23:48):
Wins, but the Lions get left out at nine to eight.
Speaker 1 (23:52):
You know that the Seahawks were able to make a
nine to eight San Francisco is awesome at thirteen and four,
but you know the Giants nine to seven and one
end up barely making it in. But you'd rather see
like more of the better teams make it like last
year personally, I mean, it was Tom Brady and the Bucks.
So that's the biggest reason why I was like, all right,
I want to see him one last shot. Let's see
it's been kind of an odd season. Let's let's see
(24:13):
what they can do. But if it wasn't like a
Tampa it wasn't a Tom Brady led Tampa Bay team,
I'm not so sure I would have felt that way.
And I've kind of always felt this way about the
divisional play, where like, why are people winning teams who
potentially have a losing record just for winning their division,
just because we've always done it that way?
Speaker 5 (24:30):
And I think Roger Goodell, if memory serves me correct,
he's been asked about this before and he's made the
comment that, well, you know, you know, winning your division
should still mean something, and it's like, okay, well, why
don't you just do this?
Speaker 3 (24:41):
Then? How about the.
Speaker 5 (24:42):
Team the division winner with the worst record? They should
be there's that should be an optional If they're playing
a team with a better record, the team with the
better record in that first round matchup is going to
be the team that hosts the playoff games.
Speaker 4 (24:56):
Why would we just see the teams with the best record?
Speaker 1 (24:58):
And I understand that then there's more competit of analysis
that needs to go in because they don't all play,
they would all be playing the same teams, But at
some point like we like to talk about how the
games have to matter. Okay, Well, the schedule that you're
playing in the NFC South, because you get two games
versus your divisional opponents, has been much easier than.
Speaker 4 (25:19):
If you're playing in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
Yeah, the NFC East or so especially last year, as
competive as the NFC East was or some of the
other conferences, but this year too.
Speaker 4 (25:29):
With the way Philly and Dallas look.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
I mean, I just I think there's a could be
a better way of tweaking it and formatting it to
get the best teams. And it might only be one
or two that get left out each year that you
feel like, I have a much better chance. But even
rewarding the teams for greater success during the course of
the regular season, with winning more games, it would make
sense that they those owners those teams get rewarded with
(25:53):
hosting a playoff game.
Speaker 4 (25:55):
I just I don't know.
Speaker 1 (25:56):
I've always kind of felt that way about the NFL,
and I understand there's gonna be a lot of haters
who come out and say, well, no divisions mattered. This
is why I've never felt that way with the playoffs.
Of the playoffs that the very best team should make
it in we have teams with better records sometimes getting
left out of the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (26:13):
As it stands right now, if the playoffs started today,
Tampa would host a playoff game again and they would
host Philadelphia, and the Eagles are what four or five
games better that's the course of the season, but they're
gonna have to go on the road.
Speaker 4 (26:27):
Four games better at the moment. Who knows what it
looks like by the end of it.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
But and I'm not saying that scenario is gonna play
out this year or you're gonna have a team with
a losing record, but it has in the past, and
you can use the justification that, hey, there's been teams
with losing records who have won a playoff game, right, Well,
of course it's a one off, sudden death scenario. It's
no different than saying, like a sixteen versus a one seed, Well,
(26:52):
of course, you go play the game. There's times where
we've seen that happen to in the NCAA tournament. I
just I look at it and think the teams that
win the most in the regular season should be rewarded
for that, and that's not always the way they do it.
Speaker 5 (27:05):
Be kind of sweet if Baker Mayfield got them a
division champion, a division win though, or a division title.
Speaker 1 (27:10):
Oh no, And look, I'm not taking anything away from
Baker Mayfield with the Bucks or you know, even the
Saints and Derek Carr has been ridden in the Falcons
or anyone else.
Speaker 4 (27:19):
I'm not taking anything away from any of those three teams.
Speaker 1 (27:21):
It's just when we're having like a philosophical conversation about
the structure of the NFL playoffs, it's crazy to me.
Sometimes you see these divisions that drag and when they
get in the postseason, you're like, they probably can't really
do anything and they're taking up a spot for someone
else that may be able to like, at the end
of the day, there might you know, we'll see how
(27:43):
things finish up, but there might be a team from
the NFC North that finishes with a winning record that
doesn't make it in. And it's it's like, I don't know,
I'd probably rather see, you know, one of those games
between if the Packers in the way they've been playing
with Jordan Love right now, and obviously they play a
night but if that team gets hot towards the end
of the season, but they end up getting left out somehow.
(28:05):
It'd be tough to see them sitting at home not thinking, hey,
the private better shot of an upset, That might be
a little better matchup.
Speaker 3 (28:09):
So coming up next, it is a Monday tradition.
Speaker 5 (28:12):
We report any issues, injuries, ailments from a long weekend
for the crew, and it's yours right here on Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 9 (28:20):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Arrington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific.
Speaker 5 (28:32):
Two Pros and a Cup of Joe, Fox Sports Radio,
Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you here coming up top
of next hour about fifteen minutes from now from the
tire rack dot Com studios. There seems to be a
little bit of a separation between one team in the
NFL and everybody else. We'll explain why that is and
who it is, coming up here fifteen minutes from now
(28:54):
on Fox Sports Radio. By the way, before we get
to the FSRIR coming up here, have you noticed the
theme with Iowa Sam's music today is Christmas music? Brady Quinn,
have you noticed the theme?
Speaker 4 (29:06):
Are they all from movies?
Speaker 5 (29:07):
They're all from one movie specifically, Oh, Christmas Vacation.
Speaker 3 (29:10):
Damn right, the Vacation franchise.
Speaker 8 (29:13):
This one's actually from the Summer Vacation, the original, And
then I played a little Mavis Staples that was from
Christmas Vacation.
Speaker 4 (29:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (29:20):
Is the Summer Vacation the one where they go to
Wally World?
Speaker 4 (29:22):
Yeah? Yeah.
Speaker 3 (29:23):
Isn't that just Magic Mountain? I think it is.
Speaker 8 (29:26):
It's supposed to be like they're going from Chicago to California.
Speaker 3 (29:30):
It's just a nightmare.
Speaker 7 (29:31):
Yeah, you don't call it summer vacation. You just call
it vacation.
Speaker 3 (29:35):
Yeah, the movie is Vacation. Yes, it's in Valencia.
Speaker 5 (29:38):
That's where it's at, which, by the way, there used
to be a little it was called the Greens in Valencia,
was right across from Magic Mountain and it was like
a little miniature golf course.
Speaker 4 (29:48):
How much fun was Magic Mountain? Man?
Speaker 3 (29:50):
That was great. I'm just not crazy about it really. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (29:54):
Is there still one existing where you guys look?
Speaker 5 (29:56):
Yeah, yeah, that's it's in Valencia and across there used.
Speaker 7 (29:59):
To be the best roller coaster park in the world.
Speaker 4 (30:02):
There.
Speaker 5 (30:02):
There used to be this little place. It was a
miniature golf little place across the way that had a
different things that had a full bar, and so you
get a bucket of beers and you and just start
rifling balls with a putter into traffic.
Speaker 4 (30:18):
Yeah, but that sounds kind of juvenile.
Speaker 1 (30:20):
I remember there being a magic Mountain that had like
a putt putt course, go karts games, No roller coaster
there was when it was small.
Speaker 5 (30:29):
There was a Because the only thing we have golf
and stuff is that castle, miniature golf thing still around
in Sherman Oaks, in Sherman Oaks Street.
Speaker 3 (30:37):
Yeah it's still there. Are you sure? I believe so? Yeah,
I don't know who cares.
Speaker 5 (30:44):
All right, It is two Pros and a cup of
Joe here by the way. Shortly after the show, our
podcast is going to be going up. So if you
missed any of today's show, including earlier this hour where
we proposed and somebody on this show had an idea
on how to change the NFL playoffs and it's a
good idea, you can check that out on the podcast.
Just search two Pros wherever you get your podcasts, and
(31:04):
be sure to also follow, rate and review the podcast. Again,
just search two Pros wherever you get your podcast, and
you'll see today's show posted right after we get off
the air, after.
Speaker 4 (31:15):
Your sports week after happens.
Speaker 9 (31:19):
So it's time to get the FSR IR report.
Speaker 3 (31:24):
All right, who's got something?
Speaker 4 (31:25):
Oh man, let me tell you something.
Speaker 1 (31:27):
Yeah, so we had we went to this little place
to get our photos taken with the girls, with the kids.
Speaker 4 (31:35):
I just it's always always such a painful experience. I
don't know why.
Speaker 1 (31:41):
It just it never moves as efficiently and as fast
as you would hope. There's always one kid that is
like scared from by Santa Claus. Like the rest are fine.
We have four, so like one of them's gotta be upset.
It just it never can go smooth. I don't know why.
I mean, he's a jolly old soul. I don't know
why kids don't just immediately look at Santa Claus and think, oh,
(32:04):
it seems like a nice man.
Speaker 4 (32:05):
Now.
Speaker 1 (32:06):
Maybe that's because you know, sometimes I smell you know,
his breath, my smelling.
Speaker 3 (32:12):
Oh yeah, that's true.
Speaker 4 (32:14):
I'm a little booz him.
Speaker 7 (32:16):
But nothing wrong with that.
Speaker 5 (32:18):
Although although you know, I will say this, I kind
of like it that they've got their guard up, you know,
I kind of like it's it's like when your dog.
It's like you get have the nicest neighbor in the
world and your dog attacks him. It's like, yeah, it's unfortunate,
but you know what, at least you know that dog's
protecting things, like nobody's safe.
Speaker 3 (32:37):
And I just feel like, at least I've got.
Speaker 5 (32:38):
Their guard up a little bit and they're just letting
you know, hey, listen, you got you got to show
me something here.
Speaker 1 (32:43):
The other thing is both my my twettlest girls had
their soccer season start and they both put at the
same time, which stinks because I try to help out
and coach on both, so I can.
Speaker 4 (32:53):
Only I just split split time.
Speaker 1 (32:56):
So my oldest daughter, they crushed the team they played
kind of.
Speaker 4 (33:00):
It actually was so.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
Bad of the reps asked them us to stop scoring
and the like pass the ball around basically to waste time,
and I.
Speaker 4 (33:06):
Think they called it early.
Speaker 1 (33:08):
So I after the first two minutes when we were
up like to nothing, I was like, okay, I can
leave this, we're good here and go to my my
my middle daughter. So I go over to that game.
It's the exact opposite. They are getting beaten like you've
never seen before. It was like the complete reverse of
what I just left. So we got some work to do.
(33:28):
We got some work to do, but there was a
lot of bruised feelings, some confidence that was taken away,
I think from from some of these girls.
Speaker 4 (33:36):
But not a good start for the for the younger girl.
Speaker 3 (33:39):
Now are they on the same fields, like you just
walk across the way.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
Or they're they're in a similar park, but they're actually
kind of they're probably like a quarter of a mile away,
so not that close.
Speaker 5 (33:48):
But yeah, yeah, I took my son and my wife
to Universal Studios, and.
Speaker 4 (33:56):
That sounds like a nice family trip.
Speaker 5 (33:57):
Yeah, you just went for a couple hours, and like
there's just there there are some well I mean yeah,
but we didn't. He's two years old, so it's not
like we're not going to throw him on Harry Potter,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (34:09):
Like he's not going to be what.
Speaker 1 (34:10):
You don't want to be seen on Harry Potter either.
That would completely you know, put out the wrong vibe
you're going for.
Speaker 3 (34:14):
Oh, let's I've sat on Harry Potter before I've done.
Speaker 4 (34:16):
It, done that.
Speaker 5 (34:18):
I was all right, little little nerdy didn't really get
any of the references. But you know, it's cool the
way they have everything set up.
Speaker 3 (34:25):
But I'll say this, Yeah he is.
Speaker 4 (34:30):
Harry Potter.
Speaker 3 (34:30):
Yeah that does make sense.
Speaker 5 (34:32):
Huh, my son is such is already a better athlete
than me.
Speaker 3 (34:37):
Okay already, which I've seen.
Speaker 4 (34:41):
I'll give you that, dude. He like.
Speaker 5 (34:43):
So there's this adult like you go through. It's like
the Simpson's portion. And so they have these like throwing
games and like carnival games, and most of them are
meant for adults because they're not going to give a
child a baseball and say, hey, throw it at this thing.
And for some reason they gave it to him and
he of course he won, but was rifling to where
(35:07):
people were stopping going what is happening here? Like two
and a half years old and has a halitzer for
an arm and ended up winning a couple of prizes.
Speaker 1 (35:17):
This doesn't sound like an ir story though, well no,
this sounds more closer to like a bragging story.
Speaker 5 (35:21):
But the problem is once it's time to leave, all
hell breaks loose, not happening, just just be irritated, annoyed.
Didn't want to be like, you know, we took him
on the little studio tour. That was not that was
a bit of a mistake because you know, very King Kong,
you know, jumped with the three D glasses on top
(35:43):
of the train.
Speaker 3 (35:44):
That kind of freaked him out a little bit. And
then they had to stop the tour.
Speaker 5 (35:47):
Because they were filming a movie or filming some scenes,
and so that took a little bit longer.
Speaker 3 (35:52):
So he was a little bit agitated. But all in all,
it was a good time.
Speaker 4 (35:55):
But why is it?
Speaker 1 (35:57):
Maybe it's like this with adults too, but with kids,
there's only one of two ways it's gonna work.
Speaker 4 (36:02):
When they don't want to do something, you either have
to motivate them or incentivize them, or.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
You have to use fear, like like you're either gonna
take something away or they're gonna get in trouble, or
you have to give them something.
Speaker 4 (36:15):
Like there's no middle ground.
Speaker 1 (36:17):
Yeah, there's no rational understanding of like, hey it's time
to go to bed. You have no yeah, nothing, It's
like you have to go to one extreme or the other.
Speaker 4 (36:27):
It's awful.
Speaker 1 (36:28):
Like obviously we have Santa Claus direct number, so this
time of year we make sure our kids know we
will call Santa Claus and moments notice.
Speaker 5 (36:35):
And let them know what's going on I've started to
do that, yeah, but uh, I don't know how to
say it in Spanish. That hasn't worked yet, so I'm
still trying, still efforting all that
