it's a right happy.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
It's a happy.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
I'm happy for your in laws. I'm happy for the
family of ASQ. You know, big Celtics fans, Brady Quinn.
So I'm happy for you guys.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
You did.

Speaker 7 (02:33):
Yeah, that's gonna make conversation at dinner a little bit more, uh,
you know, a little more braggadocious for them.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
But it's not, sir, they don't even reform anyway.

Speaker 6 (02:40):
I'm still looking for the sound bites from Carl Law
saying that you know, you know what, maybe it wasn't
a bad idea to plan on having a trophy award
ceremonial on on Indiana's court. I mean, I just want
to hear it because we heard it. We heard what
your sound bite saying that it was disrespectful and got
the the blood boiling and got everybody motivated.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
And why would they do this?

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Indiana had a really good run and there's a lot
to like about them, and they've got some you know,
talented players, and they're a fun team. They play really hard.
They were competitive the whole way through in this series,
and unfortunately, the one takeaway for a lot of people
out of this playoffs for them is you have but
their coach bitched him on the entire time.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
He really did.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
That's like, that's that's sort of if you look at like,
how would you encapsulate the Pacers playoff run, Rick Carlisle
crying okay, really fun.

Speaker 5 (03:34):
And Rick Carlisle's defense.

Speaker 7 (03:36):
Don't you guys feel like a lot of the coaches
have to do that to call attention to how bad
the officiating is sometimes because if they like usually the
reaction to it for NBA officials is once they put
them on blast, then the next game that calls a
little more even at least that's what it typically ends
up being. But if they don't, then it just ends

(03:57):
up being lopsided the whole time. And then you could
look at any serious see that there's always a coach
frustrated with the lack of calls or the lack of
how things are being called throughout the course of the series.

Speaker 6 (04:07):
It's sensible. It's a sensible statement that you just made.
What really kind of took me off the rails was
the whole being upset and bitching and moaning I'm the
head coach. I received prived information that the NBA was
planning on get this an award ceremony following immediately following

(04:33):
the conclusion of our game, guess where in Indiana in
our arena, Like that was where you like, because I
ain't have anything to do with any reps that had
nothing to do with the game. I had everything to
do with you having some type of attitude thinking that
you were being disrespected to think that they were going
to end the series in that game. Imagine if the

(04:56):
NBA had listened to mister Carlile coach Carlile and did
plan on the series ending last evening.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
Yeah, go fig.

Speaker 7 (05:04):
Well, I mean planning for the you know, sweep and
postseason celebration.

Speaker 5 (05:08):
They fishing are two different things.

Speaker 6 (05:09):
Yeah, yeah, that's what I'm saying, Like to me, that's
that's you were he was winding. If you're whining and
complaining about officiating, I feel like people can sympathize with that,
But you took it into a whole entirely different realm
where it was like you kind of like made me
feel like come on, man, like enough is enough with that.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
I mean, he ain't got to go down that road.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
He lost me with the small market crap, you know,
I mean, we're a small market team.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
We should get the same. But it's like okay, dude,
Like all right, then what do we do, Like, you don't.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
You don't play in some third world country somewhere.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
Out in the middle of nowhere. It's Indianapolis.

Speaker 5 (05:48):
I get it.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
It wasn't the Knicks, but nonetheless, they advanced, they got
it done, and then you know that Game seven against
the Knicks ended up being their final one of the season.
So look, it all worked out for the Indiana that
was their last win with the last series. Look, they
were they and you know, we were kind of making
jokes about it last year, and I think Mike Breen

(06:09):
kind of made a mention of this at the end
of that game last night where he said, you know,
it's one of the more competitive sweeps you'll see in
a long time, and it's like.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
It really was.

Speaker 5 (06:19):
We go one of the Pacers Lakers is.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
Like, so basically, if you're Rick Carlisle, if you just
follow the trend last year where the Lakers had a
competitive sweep in the conference finals, that means Rick Carlisle
is going to get fired after this season based on
what happened to Darvinham. But at least maybe you'll win
the n Season Tournament. They were runner up. I think
they did lose to the Lakers in the n season tournament.
The Pacers did and a lot of good that did them,

(06:47):
but they're out and the Boston Celtics move on. Jalen
Brown was named Eastern Conference Finals MVP.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
Apparently it was a tight vote race between him and
Jason Tatum, but nonetheless, Jalen Brown got the award, and
he spoke after the game.

Speaker 8 (07:04):
I wasn't expecting at all. You know, I'll never win,
so I was just happy that we won. And give
credit to Indiana. You know, they played us tough. I know,
like people think that Indiana wasn't a good team or
whatever the case mean. I mean, I thought they were
tough as anybody we played all season. I think I'm
one of the best two way wings guards, whatever.

Speaker 5 (07:23):
You want to say. In this game.

Speaker 8 (07:24):
You know, I thought this year I've taken a level
and I've increased it and I took the matchup. I
picked up guys full court, I chased guys off screens.
I battled with Biggs, and you know, I felt like
I should have been all defensive. That probably hurt me
the most because that's one of the things that I
set out in the season that I wanted to be.
We feel like we're a different team than we were
last year and the year before that. I know everybody
wants to continue to kind of pigeonhold us to what

(07:46):
happened in the past, but we've got a different team
every single year. Tom is gone by, experience has been gained,
and I think we are ready to put our best
foot forward.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
So it was very accurate, very accurate.

Speaker 5 (07:58):
He is.

Speaker 6 (07:58):
He is a very fine nine two way player. He
plays defense very well, very active, delivered some some timely
some timely points on the offensive.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
Side, takes over sometimes he does.

Speaker 6 (08:11):
I mean he hit he hit several threes, at least
two that that were very very critical to the comeback,
them staying close time and pulling even later in the game.
He d's up, like he said. But you know, the
one thing that I think really resonated listening to what
he said is that this team this year is not
the same team that they're trying to pigeonhole them into

(08:34):
being what they were last year. And the to me,
the big thing about them in years past is that
Jalen and Tatum have disappeared in the big.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Game, especially that Game seven last year, just disappeared against
the Heat where Tatum went down early and everyone was
waiting on Jalen Brown to take over. And remember because
that was we talked about this a little bit yesterday,
but that was when people were saying, you can't give
Jalen around that big contract because he got the three
hundred million dollar contract because he was all NBA like,

(09:05):
you know, you can't based on that performance in Game
seven against the Heat, you can't give him that contract. Well,
he got the contract, and he came back and he
was better this year, and a lot of that was
on the defense, like you would see them get stops,
especially the last two games, and he was really kind
of orchestrating things.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
And kind of him and also Drew Holliday was fantasy.

Speaker 6 (09:23):
He's a big addition, yeah, because his defense is is
what I think that like Smart was to me a
leader for this team. He was a facilitator. I thought
he brought an element to the team that was needed
and necessary because I feel like Tatum and Brown are
more kind of quiet leaders, unassuming type of guys, not

(09:47):
very fiery. And what's interesting is Holiday isn't very you know,
boisterous either, but his style of play has really really
been very, very very nice as an addition to this day,
did you like how I like say, very nice.

Speaker 5 (10:06):
Very nice.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
Yeah, well, because we.

Speaker 6 (10:08):
Were looking at something very different that was very nice,
but it did apply. I mean pole Assassin got the remote.

Speaker 7 (10:17):
Yeah, when you two were in studio together, there's always
something very nice.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
Gus got the remote.

Speaker 5 (10:23):
Tell you that.

Speaker 6 (10:24):
Wow, it's very distracting, but it's it's actually I'm just
trying to pull my thoughts together.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (10:35):
I still think Derek White too, is like an unsung hero.
He is. He's been so good throughout.

Speaker 7 (10:40):
The course of the playoffs, and you know last night
he didn't shoot well last night obviously until he needed
to at the very end. But I just I think
if you came into the playoffs and you're like, yeah,
Derek White's gonna hit meaningful shots and and they play
a lot of meaningful minutes, you said, okay, probably more
defensive than anything else.

Speaker 5 (10:58):
He's really stepped up in a big way.

Speaker 7 (11:01):
This team's gonna be tough to beat whoever it is
out of the West, even if.

Speaker 5 (11:04):
It's Dallas, it's gonna be tough to beat. And maybe
there's an outside shot to get Porzingis.

Speaker 7 (11:10):
Back, which would be another fun storyline, assuming it's gonna
be Dallas at least at this moment, out of the West.

Speaker 6 (11:16):
They might be too much for Dallas. If Perzingis comes
back and is healthy, they might be too much for
Dallas right now. Now with that being said, you gotta
have your superstars. Everybody's saying it, you gotta have your
superstars playing like superstars if you're gonna win. And and
Dallas does and and Dallas has a few positive contributors

(11:40):
outside of the obvious two as well.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
But this, this Celtics team is different this year.

Speaker 6 (11:48):
It's a different feel to them, there's a different, different
level of confidence that's connected to them. It just seemed
as though this was a game aim that would tell
you a lot about where this this Celtic team is
currently in terms of being in a closeout game, Knowing

(12:09):
how the previous years have ended for them, knowing the
scrutiny and criticism that has been lobbed their way. They
answered that if you ask me emphatically with a we
are a different.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
Team, because that was always the question they can't close
out games, Well, there you go. That was always the question,
Like you know, what it gets down to it are
they going to be able to make plays, and they did.
And Reddick pointed out last night in the broadcast, three
of these games that they won were because they made
plays down the stretch when a lot when the narrative
on them for a long time has been those guys

(12:42):
don't come up big down the stretch, and they did
in those games. Now, Uh, these Celtics are a minus
two to twenty five to win the NBA title. I
think it's a little disrespectful that you guys are just
closing the coffin on the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
I mean, you just said that's over.

Speaker 6 (12:57):
I'm damn am I I mean it might be a
clean one to two sweep.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
You know it might.

Speaker 6 (13:05):
And if it wasn't, if it doesn't play out that way,
it's still.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
Going to be over in the next one to two games.

Speaker 6 (13:14):
I don't And I said, listen, I didn't see them
beating beating Denver two games in a row. I didn't
see that at the end of the series they were
able to do that. But to be against a team
where Kyrie and Luca are playing the way that they're
playing right now.

Speaker 5 (13:30):
The best backcourt and NBA history.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
That's what they're saying that's what they're saying.

Speaker 5 (13:35):
Are we saying that.

Speaker 6 (13:36):
I won't I'm not going to go that far.

Speaker 5 (13:40):
Like, can I ask who is the competition?

Speaker 7 (13:43):
I mean, I know NBA purists will go back through
history and be able to bring up others, but like,
who would be the tandem that would challenge Kyrie Irving
and Luca Doctins.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
Mark Price, Craig e Low.

Speaker 7 (13:54):
I mean, that's what I grew up with that, So
thank you for bringing that up. I'm pretty sure we're
the only two. What's up to tout? We're the only
two that would bring that up. And I do have
to point this out someone. I do love people that
like talk trastling shows and media. One guy said something about, well,

(14:15):
I'm big in my community, the black community.

Speaker 5 (14:17):
And I was like, Okay, well, I guess that's I
don't know.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
What that means, Like I don't know what that means.

Speaker 7 (14:23):
Like I apparently like I I can't identify you because
like you're big in the community that I'm not aware of.

Speaker 5 (14:29):
Like that you're I'm not a big deal. I don't
know what that means.

Speaker 7 (14:32):
But apparently that's how people feel the white community about
Mark Price and Craig Elos.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (14:38):
I mean, I feel like that's a pretty you know,
that's a pretty impressive for certain I would.

Speaker 7 (14:44):
I would not okay, I would not put them up
gets Kyrie Irving and Luka datchis.

Speaker 5 (14:52):
We've got to find another tandem.

Speaker 6 (14:54):
Does it have to be a one to two John
stof in point Byron Russell? Has to be a one two? See,
I don't know, because there's like swing guys man like
I don't know, because to me, the best backcourt to
me ever is Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan. But some
would say that's what I see, That's what I'm saying.

(15:16):
So that's you know, so when you're you're getting into that,
then it becomes okay, well if MJ was two, then
wouldn't you say, whoever is the point guard with MJ? Is?

Speaker 1 (15:28):
That's your best from Clay? Not bad?

Speaker 6 (15:31):
I mean, that's not bad and not one has been
used that one has been used.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (15:38):
I think if you go into the annals and the
history of the game, I'm sure there's someone there, there's
somebody there, But the debate is still going to to
go though.

Speaker 1 (15:50):
This is this is a good one. Isaiah Thomas, Joe Dumars.

Speaker 2 (15:52):
I mean, do we look at luc now that Isaiah
and Joe dumar is pretty good?

Speaker 6 (15:57):
That's that's that's that's it for me that I would
say that might be you might be right there.

Speaker 5 (16:03):
That's the that's the duo.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
But are we looking at Luca as a true too.

Speaker 5 (16:08):
Here's a two.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
He's a man, I mean, he's he's no, I don't know.

Speaker 5 (16:15):
Jon is good man. You know, he gets on he
gets on these Reddit pages.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
That was a good one.

Speaker 6 (16:21):
Mars and and Isaiah that that's a really really good one.

Speaker 5 (16:25):
I feel like, what about Magic and Michael Cooper.

Speaker 1 (16:29):
That's not bad solid, Yeah, it's not bad. But that
magic help of.

Speaker 7 (16:35):
My God, Rip Hamilton and and Johncey Phillips, that might
be it right there?

Speaker 1 (16:40):
I mean, Geez Detroit, huh yeah.

Speaker 7 (16:42):
But you could go back in the day like Bob
Coosey and Sam Jones Jonas knows all about.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
I don't know who to have Sam Jones is Sam?

Speaker 7 (16:49):
But then the Jordan and whoever the what about Kobe
and Derek Fisher?

Speaker 2 (16:55):
Great, that's a great call. I would have them probably
ninth on my list, to be honest.

Speaker 7 (17:00):
I was doing a top how about one that no
one's gonna no one will ever bring this up, Tony Parker, I.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
Mean, that's going to say that, And that's longevity. We're
in lockstep here. I'm telling this because it was to.

Speaker 5 (17:16):
Find we could find why the Fate Away World done that.

Speaker 9 (17:23):
As in there? Yeah, like so flip that bad boy
right on in there?

Speaker 1 (17:31):
So are we counting? Manu and Tony Parker is so?

Speaker 9 (17:36):
So we're gonna go all white back white back there too,
next to Mark Price and Craigie Lo. Yeah, what about
Stephen Clay the White Boys?

Speaker 1 (17:47):
Okay, right, yeah they won back?

Speaker 5 (17:51):
What were you all watching?

Speaker 1 (17:54):
Oh? Bro?

Speaker 6 (17:55):
I have no idea what I like it though, I
have no idea what the I ain't to put it on.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
Don't don't play bus. That was that was when we
got in studio.

Speaker 7 (18:06):
That was on.

Speaker 5 (18:07):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (18:08):
Well it looks like a more recent movie, That's what
all I'll say. I don't I don't know. It's distracting
because the people acting in it are more recent actors,
actress actors.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
It is too pro proper. You can't say actress, right,
that's not proper. Well you say just actor. Yeah, I
don't know, Yeah.

Speaker 6 (18:33):
Shouts out to Bill Walton too. By the way, Yeah,
Bill Walton R. I P my guy.

Speaker 5 (18:39):
You know.

Speaker 6 (18:39):
Quick story about Bill Walton. My first and only time
ever meeting Bill Walton. I was at the NBA All
Star Weekend in DC. I was walking past the where
they were sitting during the dunk contest, and somebody stopped
me and was talking to me. Somebody popular to like,
somebody super famous stop me and was talking to me.

Speaker 1 (19:02):
And I hear I don't remember.

Speaker 6 (19:04):
I would I would have said, I just don't even
remember who it was because what what totally kind of
like took over the whole entire famous though they were
pretty famous, I just don't know who because there was
so many famous people there.

Speaker 5 (19:16):
It was like in their specific community.

Speaker 6 (19:20):
No, no, it wasn't Who's who was a P Diddy?
No it wasn't Diddy. No, it was an athlete back then.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
Yeah, no, I would have been even though he's still
he's still h he's.

Speaker 6 (19:31):
Still it's just infamy now instead, you know, it's instead
of famous. But all I know is I was standing there,
I'm entertaining this person talking to me. I hear somebody go, hey, hey,
do you think you can move out of the way.
I'm trying to see what's going on here. I turned
around and I was about to say, I know you

(19:52):
ain't talking to me. And I turned around to say it,
and I was like, hey, I know you're Bill Walton.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
Oh sure, I'll.

Speaker 9 (20:02):
Move no word he being an ale Yeah, And I
was ready to be an a hole right on back.

Speaker 6 (20:08):
And then I realized it was Bill Walton. Was like,
you know, I'm leave him alone. I'm gonna let the
old head live.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
Down in front. I was like, hey, you mother and
Bill Wolton, I'm going to move.

Speaker 3 (20:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
He uh Now, he a great career, great broadcaster, great personality,
man entertaining as hells and prayers to his family.

Speaker 6 (20:26):
Yeah, I'm sure that's tremendous loss. I mean he you know,
he lit up a room. I mean he lit up
a uh you know, a desk, a studio show. You know,
he was really good at calling games and doing studio work.
Man's you know, just one of those guys. I had
one of those magnanimous type of personalities.

Speaker 1 (20:42):
So it's a good dude, man.

Speaker 6 (20:44):
And you know, it's a tremendous loss to the sports community,
not just a basketball community.

Speaker 7 (20:49):
And you know, what's interesting about talking about his legacy
is it's he.

Speaker 5 (20:54):
Had an unbelievable playing career. I mean, if you look.

Speaker 7 (20:58):
At his college even pro, two time NBA champ, you know, MVP,
all All Decade Team, all that stuff. Obviously the college
level had won a bunch of national championships.

Speaker 5 (21:12):
Was I think a three time All American I'm not mistaken.

Speaker 7 (21:15):
But what's crazy about it is is as good as
his career was, he became so much more too as
a broadcaster. You know, people people forgot about what was
a legendary career as a player, and when you get
into broadcasting, that's I guess as a former player of
the ultimate goal. And there's a lot of guys who
have maybe achieved that where you remember them as a

(21:37):
broadcast more so than a player. But in some in
some cases that's because their career wasn't like up to
snuff with what they've done with their career, Like I
would say Bill Walton, Charles Barkley, like those are like
first two guys that kind of come to mind. But
I mean, man, it was it was incredible to see
his transition and how beloved he was too, you know,

(21:59):
for how called games and how he did things, so
it's just so unique and uniquely him and how he
handled himself.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
Yeah, he was awesome. So again, thoughts and prayers to
his family, the Great Bill Walton passing away yesterday at
the age of seventy one. Two Pros and a Cup
of Joe Here on Fox Sports Radio, LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn,
Jonas Knox with you. So we are gonna have the

Oh my god. Well, I mean it is three thirty,
so you never know what's on.

Speaker 6 (24:30):
I didn't know that anytime during the day you could
get that type of type of content on the Yeah.

Speaker 1 (24:36):
Yeah, things have changed. It is two pros and a
cup of Joe.

Speaker 2 (24:40):
Here on Fox Sports Radio, LeVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas
knocks with you. By the way, coming up in about fifteen
minutes from now Apparently we had a dynasty going on
in the world of sports. Uh, if you were unaware
of that, we've got the details for you. That'll be
yours here again about fifteen minutes from now here on FSR.

Speaker 5 (24:57):
So everybody's just watching porn over there.

Speaker 1 (24:59):
Huh, it might as well be. We're not watching anything
it was on the TV. It might as well be.

Speaker 5 (25:06):
Well, that will definitely get Jonas distracted, that is for sure.

Speaker 2 (25:09):
I got my own the weather channel. You know, I'm
focused on the storms that are going on in the Midwest.

Speaker 6 (25:16):
It's just the positioning of the content. Like I'm watching
the highlights. I want to I want to focus in
on the highlights, and we've called attention to it, and
then the channel never changed. See, we don't have the
channel changers. Just so we're clear, the channel never changed.
By the way, I mean, this is appropriate.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
Deshaun Watson, uh, before Cleveland Brown.

Speaker 6 (25:45):
He made a special appearance in this this this movie
in particular.

Speaker 2 (25:53):
He spoke about the Steelers. Oh, you're you're being serious.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
Yeah, you know right. Uh.

Speaker 2 (26:03):
He did speak on his podcast Quarterback Unplugged. But by
the way, is that his podcast Quarterback Unplugged? Is that
Deshaun Watson's podcast? Is that his?

Speaker 1 (26:15):
Or no? I don't.

Speaker 2 (26:17):
Yes, Actually that one is his? Yes, Wow, that one
is his interesting unplugged from interesting name choice there. So anyways,
Deshaun Watson and unplugged from playing for a while.

Speaker 5 (26:29):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
He spoke about rivalries, and in particular, he spoke about
the rivalry that he calls the best in the AFC North.

Speaker 1 (26:40):
Let's take a listen.

Speaker 2 (26:41):
Cleveland Pittsburgh for show, Cleveland Pittsburgh is a bigger rivalry
than Cleveland Baltimore.

Speaker 5 (26:47):
I feel like big. It's even bigger than It's even
bigger than Cincinnati.

Speaker 1 (26:51):
It's not Baltimore Baltimore is you know, it's a big
gang for sure. It's up there, all right. You guys
are from those areas. It feels like Brown Steelers.

Speaker 7 (27:03):
Well, if you're talking about rivalries, you know a lot
of people take into account recent history or for example,
Cleveland Cincinnati battle for Ohio. That's that's usually been the tagline.
So some people might say that's a that's a big,
you know, rivalry if you will and listen to State
the Cleveland Baltimore because the history of the Browns moving

(27:25):
to Baltimore, people would say that there's probably, you know,
a rivalry there. Most rivalries are born out of like
swings within the rivalries because Jonas is gonna be like, well,
Pittsburgh's handled Cleveland, and they have.

Speaker 5 (27:42):
But most rivalries have been like that. They're kind of lopsided.
You know.

Speaker 7 (27:46):
You look at Michigan, Michigan State, big brother, little brother,
Ohio State Michigan. You know, typically there's a run now
with Michigan. Before that was a run with Ohio State.
Then before that was a run with Michigan. So it
usually actually comes and run. People think most.

Speaker 5 (28:01):
Rivalries are, oh, they got us this year, we got
them last year, and then we'll get into you know,
it's back and forth. It's never that. It's never that.

Speaker 7 (28:10):
There almost needs to be this animosity, this build up
of hate over time because a team keeps losing and
then they come back even more fiery. So this is
one that there's elements of that obviously because of Pittsburgh's
dominance over Cleveland. But where really is a more of
a rivalry are the two towns, you know, the town

(28:32):
of Cleveland or the CITYSGH.

Speaker 5 (28:35):
That's where this is where we're not.

Speaker 7 (28:38):
There is a die hard rivalry in every way, based
on how you're raised, based on that, the job you do, that,
the work you do. There's competition in every facet it outside.

Speaker 5 (28:50):
Of the game of football. So when you grow up
there you know.

Speaker 7 (28:53):
That, and that's why then it's not just football, it's
everything else as far as being a way of life.
The Pittsburgh Cleveland series to me and professional football is
the closest thing to a college rivalry because it's more
cultural than it is necessarily even just on the football field.

Speaker 6 (29:14):
You know what's interesting is it's more Western Pennsylvania centric
than it is Pennsylvania Central centric. It's like because we neighbor, sure,
we're neighbors. Like if you if you stumble in some
parts of Ohio, you're in Pittsburgh, you're in Pennsylvania, Westpa.
If you stumble in parts of West Pennsylvania, you're into Ohio.

(29:37):
I would agree with that that we because we're both
blue collar towns, but blue collar places, humble type beginnings,
just just really hardworking type type people. And and really
our foundational components are are very very similar. And I
think that generally when you have people who are the

(29:57):
same and how they approach things from a family mentality,
foundational you know, pillars, core values, that's definitely Ohio in Pennsylvania.
Now getting to the sports aspect of it, I would
say as a Pittsburgh guy, Cleveland just hasn't ever been

(30:19):
relevant enough outside of the Marty Schottenheimer years for them
to be a true rival on in terms of playing
in the AFC North to the Steelers. It just it
would not be If I'm saying what would be the
rival to like the rivalry game where you're like, dang,

(30:40):
like it's them or them. It's Baltimore that's the rivalry
because Baltimore took what they couldn't really figure out. Well,
now I won't say what couldn't figure out, because they
did figure it out in Cleveland and they took that
recipe to Baltimore. Now why it worked better in Baltimore
than it did in Cleveland, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (31:01):
I don't know.

Speaker 7 (31:02):
I would say this, Look, the rivalry between Pittsburgh and
and you know, Cleveland hasn't been as competitive probably for
the past three plus decades, but before.

Speaker 5 (31:13):
That, Cleveland owned it.

Speaker 7 (31:14):
More So, if you're talking about like Cleveland's glory days
were really before the formation of the NFL as we
know it. Indeed, you know, so the fifties, the sixties,
that whole era, even the eighties, and unfortunately when the
Browns moved in the nineties, that's.

Speaker 5 (31:28):
Where things kind of curtailed.

Speaker 7 (31:29):
Because the Browns have been an expansion team since they've
come back.

Speaker 1 (31:34):
And people don't realize that, but that's the that's the truth.

Speaker 7 (31:37):
That is, like, like what the success you've saw on Baltimore,
to me was a continuation of what was building in Cleveland.

Speaker 5 (31:45):
And people can challenge that all they want, but that's
just kind.

Speaker 6 (31:48):
Of the truity of rm Odale took that whatever it
is he did, and and the formation and you know
even with Ozzie knew so he took the formula and
he took it to Baltimore. I mean, which Baltimore is
a lot like Ohio and a lot like Pittsburgh, like
a lot like Cleveland, a lot like Pittsburgh, and in
the sense that it's blue collar it you know, it

(32:10):
has a lot of the same type of mentality, hard
nose toof chippers, you know, lunch peil har hat type guys.

Speaker 1 (32:18):
They're meal workers. So it was the same.

Speaker 6 (32:22):
It was a perfect fit to move them there because
the embracing of that type of culture. And then lo
and behold, in your first draft you bring in Jonathan
Ogden and Ray Lewis. I mean, that's not a bad
way to create foundational pieces to a franchise.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
By the way, which they were an expansion team.

Speaker 2 (32:42):
Yeah, it's crazy, man. You just you know, separated by
the I seventy six West. You know, it's just wild
Pittsburgh and Cleveland. You know, we're just talking Pittsburgh Cleveland.

Speaker 6 (32:50):
But back to the point, right, if you're looking at
what this team personnel could possibly represent to the AFC North,
all things given everybody plays, this definitely could be one
of the more competitive seasons that you see in the

(33:12):
AFC North. More often than not, you're you're generally gonna
say the AFC North is one of the toughest. If not,
it's been the West that's been contending for it. But
you're never gonna sit there and say that the North
is out of the running for toughest com for a division.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
If you could get every one of those quarterbacks healthy
and Russell Wilson playing close to what he was playing
like in Seattle. That's the best division in football. That's
that's the most that's the funnest division in football.

Speaker 1 (33:41):
To watch next year.

Speaker 7 (33:43):
I don't think you even need to get him to
play how he's playing Seattle, GI him to gi him
to play how he played last year in Denver. That
that already is good enough for the Steelers to win
football games. I mean, that's funny. I was like doing
a bunch of research on I don't know the quarterback
playing Pittsburgh. Yes, right, it's for something else. But I
came across Pro Football Reference. I was looking at the

(34:03):
averages and somehow like they had their yards per game
average for the team higher than any one of the
quarterbacks had passed for last year when they have started playing.

Speaker 5 (34:13):
And I'm like, this, mathematically is not possible.

Speaker 7 (34:16):
I actually reached out, because I'm a dork, I reached
out to Pro Football Reference and I'm like, hey, just
curious what your calculation was here, because even if you
incorporated sacks off passing yards, which they do in the NFL,
you should have done it already for everything else, like
you should have done it for their averages. So the
average of all three quarterbacks starting last season between Kenny
Pickett and Mitch Trubisky and Mason Rudolph, it should have

(34:39):
still been below the number that they had there.

Speaker 2 (34:41):
So anyway you reached out to them, I sent an email.

Speaker 7 (34:47):
I sent an email, Yes, well, because I was looking
at thinking like maybe I'm wrong, maybe they've they've got
a formula and how they factor us, and and I
want to make sure that they have a great website.
It's a good resource. But that doesn't mean that's not,
you know, impossible that they'd have a mistake like this.

Speaker 1 (35:04):
So did they get back to you. No, No, they
did not get back yet.

Speaker 5 (35:08):
There's a holiday too.

Speaker 7 (35:10):
I don't suspect they will until maybe this week, and
they'll just say, hey, it's just a calculation error on
our you know, spreadsheet or however they input the formulas
or something. But the point is, even if Russell Wilson
just plays as well as they did last year in Denver,
it would be much better than what the Pittsburgh Steelers
saw last year for their trio of quarterbacks.

Speaker 2 (35:31):
Yeah, two pros and a cup of Joe here on
Fox Sports Radio and coming up next year, we were
going to talk about a dynasty. Apparently there's a dynasty

Speaker 3 (36:38):
Sometimes you can't get to everything in the world of
sports or entertainment. Good thing, the guys are here to
bring you in case.

Speaker 2 (36:46):
You missed it, and for that we turn it over
to our executive producer, Lead Lap.

Speaker 1 (36:51):
Good morning, Good morning, Jonas, Good morning Brady, Good morning
the book guys.

Speaker 2 (36:57):
In case you missed it, yesterday, Notre Dame I claimed
it's second straight men's lacrosse championship after Hey right now,
with a fifteen to five victory over Maryland in the championship.

Speaker 5 (37:07):
Absolutely doubt that's right.

Speaker 1 (37:10):
First team to repeat since Duke in twenty fourteen. How
about it?

Speaker 5 (37:13):
How about it? How about them fighting Iris?

Speaker 1 (37:16):
Huh my Tarriffins Man, my turriffs Man.

Speaker 6 (37:19):
I was bummed they placed across apart.

Speaker 7 (37:22):
I had a buddy who text me and says, the
game started yet, joking after they already down.

Speaker 5 (37:28):
I think about five at that point.

Speaker 7 (37:29):
But what's upsetting is when you're Alma mater, you like
try to tell your buddies stuff like I kept saying
o them, like during the season.

Speaker 5 (37:36):
Because I watched the men's lacross name, it's like, you know,
they're really deep.

Speaker 7 (37:40):
That's part of the problem for a lot of opponents
is like they can't you know, sub ab out and
mix guys in because this team will just wear you
down the second half. That's how many how much depth
they have, And all I heard during the National Championship
game was how much how deep they were, how deep
they were. Yet I have a bunch of d bags
for friends. They just give me a hard time, like, oh,
they're just so deep, bro, They're just so crude. I'm like,
yeah they are. They actually are really that deep and

(38:02):
that legitimate.

Speaker 6 (38:03):
So I could have took that down the direction of
this movie right here on this TV. But leave it
alone and let you bask in the glory and glow
of winning, you know, and.

Speaker 1 (38:14):
Just see you back to back then back to back,
back to back.

Speaker 5 (38:17):
Just you know.

Speaker 1 (38:19):
LeVar was supportive of Notre Dame when we talked about this.

Speaker 5 (38:23):
I was not.

Speaker 1 (38:23):
I was rooting against you. I just want to just
want to point that out lost. That's called what usually
happens your friendship
