Lee on the air because I really threw him just
a bag of turds at the end of that last hour,
because like there was a story that involved more discussion
(01:22):
and more explanation and in case you missed it, and
there was like twelve seconds left on the clock and
there wasn't enough time and he ran right into the
heart out. So I just butchered that that was my fault. Uh, Lee,
could you write to the part out. So there's some
guy who wants to take a submarine down to the
Titanic because the last time somebody tried this it didn't
go well. Yeah, I'm just curious.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Ony.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
Yeah, the last guy who did it.
Speaker 5 (01:42):
By the way, the name of that company was Ocean Gate,
which should probably be a bad sign anyway. Never put
in gate at the end of anything, right, I forgot
about that. But yeah, Ohio billionaire Larry Connor, who's a
big Connor, who's a big booster for Dayton University of Dayton.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
He's planning to do the same thing he wants to build.
Speaker 5 (02:01):
Well, he has built a submersible submarine that will plan
to go do the Titanic multiple times. A lot of
people wonder if this is a whether it's a failure
or a success, whether this will affect the nil money
for daytona University of Dayton.
Speaker 6 (02:17):
What like do people not realize like he's got so
much money and it is the University of Dayton, Like
he could still support it and still do this venture.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
They do realize that.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
Right, Yeah, this is this submersible.
Speaker 7 (02:33):
What's the obsession with doing that?
Speaker 6 (02:36):
Though apparently for the article I read, it sounded like
he was motivated to get people to explore the ocean
and explore going down in the ocean after that event,
like that motivated him to do this.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
Okay, that's fine, I mean people doing it and the
other one.
Speaker 6 (02:57):
Yeah, I think the difference is is like this is
a billion who's not gonna cut corners? And it sounded
like the other company might have been like I'm taking
like safety and stuff. Yeah like that, there's certain things
like that that may have done. They basically this sardine.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Can right, Like there weren't even any windows or anything
like that.
Speaker 7 (03:20):
Right, it was like you had to look.
Speaker 4 (03:21):
At it as a submarine. They're not a screen door either.
Speaker 7 (03:26):
That just doesn't make any sense to me? What are
you going to go on to say?
Speaker 1 (03:30):
If you can't really see what's going on unless you're
like the operator and you got to look at it
through what like like monitors.
Speaker 4 (03:37):
A sunroof in there at least, what's the difference.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
Between being in the submarine and just seeing it through
the monitors of a man list right, a non man
submarine that.
Speaker 7 (03:49):
Shows you the visual.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
It's a great point, there is dumb or how about this?
Speaker 6 (03:56):
Just go to one of those places where you put
on oculars and just look at it and be on.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Are you know you don't even have to go anywhere.
Speaker 6 (04:02):
You just put on some oculars, like those little virtual
reality mass things, put those on it, then just go
look at it. It's on your couch. I mean, there's
not too much risk there.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
I've seen a few people in Cali wearing those out too, man,
That's it's kind of wild, like.
Speaker 7 (04:17):
Where you going?
Speaker 4 (04:17):
Wait, they wear them out.
Speaker 7 (04:20):
Errands like what are you doing? Like why you have
those on?
Speaker 4 (04:25):
Like doesn't that defeat the purpose?
Speaker 1 (04:27):
I guess so, but I guess people you know this,
Cali man people, Cali.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
Man people putting out that vibe.
Speaker 7 (04:32):
Baby, Yeah, they want to be seen.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Yeah, yeah, I'll be sitting in the hood.
Speaker 7 (04:42):
But Monaco or Milan. I just did the f ones.
Speaker 6 (04:47):
You come out of that all sophisticated, right, like I
just had some catar Like, hey man, that's a Bardega man, Like,
what you doing?
Speaker 2 (04:55):
Why are you dressed like that?
Speaker 6 (05:00):
I had to go to the Casino road there you go, CAA.
Speaker 7 (05:06):
I was hot tonight.
Speaker 4 (05:07):
Oh yeah, this is no homeless encampment here. This is
a winery in Italy. What are you talking about? Just
look at these? Try these on.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
Where'd you get those from the truck? Did you hear
about that accident on the ten? These puppies fell right
on off the highway.
Speaker 4 (05:29):
Oh man, well listen. Submarine not my thing. I have
no interest whatsoever in doing it at all, Like zero interest.
So anybody wants to go do a show on a submarine,
have fun with that. It is two pros and a
cup of joe here. Though, we do have a potential
change in the NFL that could be happening here. Oh,
(05:51):
you guys would be the perfect people to speak on this.
You people would be perfect to speak on this as
former players who have gone through the grind of the
NFL offseason into training camp. Apparently, according to Tom Pellasero
of the NFL Network, the NFLPA is working to finalize
a proposal to overhaul the off season, starting as soon
(06:12):
as twenty twenty five. It would eliminate voluntary on field
work in the spring in favor of a longer training
camp ramp up, with players reporting in mid June. In
mid June rather to early July, per sources, now seems
like a long ass season to me, But what the
hell do I know.
Speaker 6 (06:32):
Here's what I would say as a former player. There's
pros and cons to all these sorts of decisions.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
But if, as you said, the NFL is.
Speaker 6 (06:44):
Proposing this correct the NFLPA, nflpa's proposedness, Which is interesting
because if you're proposing this right, and you're going to
the owner saying we would like to do this, this
is one of your bargain pieces. When we talk about
eighteen games, how they're trying to get to eighteen games,
this is one of the ways, and this is one
(07:04):
of the ways where the gons go, Okay, well, yeah,
well we'll do that for you guys. Oh by the way, though,
if we're gonna do that, you guys have to play
an additional game, and we're gonna take off one preseason
game for you guys, so you know, it's still gonna
be in the same timeframe, but we're gonna play more
meaningful games instead of these these you know.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Preseason games.
Speaker 6 (07:23):
That's the problem with putting this out there and using
this as a potential negotiation or bargaining chip is as
we talked about before, this just shouldn't be something that
you should be as focused on if you are a
you know, for if you're a current player, thinking about
it for future players, former players, like this is just
not something that's that important outside of the people that
(07:46):
are currently playing in the NFL now. But that's the
reason why I feel like they're doing this is because
they're creating more space to adjust, move back, adapt the
schedule however they need.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
To for potential of eighteen games.
Speaker 6 (08:00):
And look back, I mean back when we played Varro, Like,
I don't know how you viewed the six weeks we
got off after OTA's and mini camp that are going
on right now. I didn't like it because I felt
like you were off, but you kind of were like
you could have a little bit of fun. But basically
after July fourth, like you were in full training camp
mode even though you weren't in training camp yet.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
Like maybe you didn't report, but.
Speaker 6 (08:21):
Your ass was working out every day, you were thrown
every day, you were doing everything you could every day
to prepare yourself to be ready to like kick it
into gear as soon as you got.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
Into training camp.
Speaker 6 (08:29):
Yeah, and so this allows them to basically take OTAs
in mini camp like they have now and the off
season phase one training where they work out and meet
with the coaches. It basically allows them to shift that
into June July and then they build into training camp.
So it's gonna feel like one really really long season
for the players. It'll be an adjustment. But that being said,
(08:51):
it probably makes the most sense. So you don't have
guys who go to OTA's mini camp take those six
weeks six weeks off and don't do jack squat. They
just sit around. They don't come back, they don't come
back and shape every ready to go. So it probably
makes sense from that standpoints.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
As a player, I kind of look at it and
I'm like, that's too damn long. As a player, in
my mind, I'm like, that's long, Like June. You check
in in June but I think there's this I think
we have to look at it.
Speaker 7 (09:20):
From a I guess a mental a mental fixation, a
mental classic conditioning type of approach. Why why is it that?
Speaker 1 (09:33):
Why is it that we look at the length of
a season and it's like, oh no, can't do that,
that's just way too long. As athletes, it's like, this
is our season, this is the amount of time our
season is.
Speaker 7 (09:48):
This is what we do.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
And we're in and we're out, goes to the next season.
But it's your job, like you're like in reality, you
you're actually doing.
Speaker 7 (10:01):
Who knows what your real weeks are in college.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
I mean, people may not really take the time to
really take a step back and think about how monopolized
your time is. And my time was way more monopolized
around the year calendar year in college than it was
in the pros. Now, if you're saying we're going into
their going into training camp in June, and if it's
(10:27):
not a ramp up, if it's not a ramp up
to a training camp, if you're going into a training camp,
which by the way, I hear training camps are no
different than OTA's and mini camps at this point anyway,
So if it's just a matter of time where you're
coming into the facility, you're getting your treatment, you're getting
your conditioning, your meeting with your coaches, you're doing organized
(10:51):
things on the football field without the rules saying you
can only do so much or you can't do it
during this time.
Speaker 7 (10:58):
If it's set up that way where you.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
Can go home, then that maybe, like I think that's
that's that has some attractiveness to it because you are
able to get into a groove and it's not it's
not so especially if you're going to do away with
because I'm saying, look to get the eighteen games. If
you do away with one or two preseason games and
you you have one one preseason game where the guys
(11:22):
get an opportunity to get their feet wet. Game two,
you're you know, you go through a dress rehearsal and
then you get into it where you're trying to figure out, okay,
these few positions we have left available, these guys are
going to get these games. Games one majority of and
then some of or maybe the majority of Game two
as well, maybe the majority of both. For the guys
(11:44):
that are on the bubble to make the roster. I
think that makes a lot of sense, I really do.
Speaker 7 (11:48):
I don't. I don't have a problem with it, I
just don't.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
I think we're so conditioned to think that our season
starts here and it should end there. And once you
go outside of them parameters, I think think it just
it's a cause for complaining. It's a cause for concern.
Obviously the first thing you think about is injury.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
Well, and the other thing.
Speaker 6 (12:08):
I actually think this might help with injury though, because
you're able to I mean kind of similar. I guess
i'd compare it to like an Olympic athlete, right. You know,
they really start, you know, training annually for an annual
peak event and that's typically you know, the World Championships
at their sport. Now, obviously you have to get through
nationals and all those things, but you know, they kind
(12:30):
of builds up like that for a lot of football players.
That's how you're trying to look at it as well.
The problem is you have this break, right, you basically
go through this phase of we're working out, we're getting
our bodies conditioned ready to go for football. You start
practicing football, and then you take the six week break
and then you ramp right back up into it where
it's much, you know, much more intense than what you
(12:51):
just left. Right, You're hitting, your banging, you're all those things.
So I actually think this will be good for a
lot of players and helping to provide them with a
continual ramp up, but also none of that like letdown
where you know there maybe we'd say like, oh, well,
they have to manage their bodies better. Sure, that's always
going to be the case, especially if they as they
(13:11):
extend the season to an eighteenth game.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
But I actually think this.
Speaker 6 (13:15):
Could be better for a lot of athletes preparing their
bodies for the punishment of an NFL season. My biggest
concern is, all right, for some of these guys, their
season is gonna end in January.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
Just end is December January, right, what the hell are
they doing for the next six months.
Speaker 6 (13:33):
Because every single time the NFL PA talks about, hey,
we're giving guys the opportunity to go back and get
their degree. Hey we've got these offseason programs, these different
initiationis we want them to be a part of. Here's
the truth, A small percentage of players actually do it,
and it wasn't because of the schedule.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
They don't want to do it. They don't want to
do it.
Speaker 6 (13:53):
They'd rather do other things, have fun, travel, whatever, And
that's great, that's their own programive like that.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
That's that's their own choice.
Speaker 6 (13:59):
If they don't want to go back and get their degree,
they don't want to go back and continue with their education,
do an internship, do something else. So I understand the
point of why they're trying to create the space. But
trust me, every single off season thing they had for us,
I tried to take advantage of, whether it was that
you know, Harvard or Warden or Stanford, any of them,
(14:21):
Kellogg at Northwestern, I went to all of them. I
started one a Notre Dame for a few years and
a lot of those programs are gone now, which they
used to be matched by the NFL.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
They would put in some funding for it.
Speaker 6 (14:32):
So with the NFLPA, the problem is they couldn't get
enough attendance.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
And you know what it was too is you'd see the.
Speaker 6 (14:38):
Same guys and every single one of these prop the
same guys, and that's to me, is like.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
Part of it.
Speaker 6 (14:45):
If that's the motivation behind this, great I just hope
players take advantage of it, because I trust you and
trust me. On this, like they did not take advantage
of this back when they had a litany of programs
and opportunities for players to do this sort of thing
in the offseason.
Speaker 4 (15:02):
Does this mean we're gonna have less Fourth of July arrests? Like,
because that was always a thing, you know, Fourth of
July that guys will get in trouble last chance.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
You always bet like the over under on that.
Speaker 4 (15:12):
That's not true. I would never do that. That's negative.
That's negative. I would never go down that road. I
just think that, you know, it seems like fourth.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
You always had the over a four and a half,
that we did this for years.
Speaker 4 (15:23):
Just disrespectful to make those accusations. He probably true, but
you know what, that's not the point. The point is
we're trying to find hope, and so who knows, maybe
these off season programs will get it together. By the way,
who are the same guys that you would always see
in the off season programs?
Speaker 6 (15:40):
By position group, it would be typically quarterback, kicker, long snapper,
tight end, and.
Speaker 2 (15:46):
Some offensive linemen. Every once in a while you get
some dbs mixed in a right.
Speaker 6 (15:52):
Maybe a running back, but very seldom not a lot
of Sorry for not a lot of defensive players, maybe
a linebacker.
Speaker 7 (15:59):
I was in pro.
Speaker 1 (16:01):
You're talking about a different like. I didn't go I
didn't do business. I did media.
Speaker 7 (16:05):
So I mean you think the one I bro.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
I did the media thing too.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
I had to miss I had to miss ot A's
or Mini camp. I think I had to end up
missing the season finale a dream job because the coaches
were giving me blues about me missing the practice to
do the show like I was with Al Joffy.
Speaker 7 (16:28):
Uh. Stuart Scott was still alive. He was the host
of the show.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
We can't give a shout out? Jeez, one are the
all time greades. We can't a shout out?
Speaker 7 (16:38):
I mean, I mean he didn't hear your side out.
Speaker 4 (16:42):
I understand, Okay.
Speaker 7 (16:45):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
It just hit me kind of differently. I guess I
don't know anyway. Uh, Kit Hoover was on the show.
It was a dope show. The dude Mike Hall that
does Big ten. You guys probably know ten network. Uh yeah,
he could hear the shout out. He was actually the
one who woned. I wanted the dude named Zacharya to
win the show. He was more of a comedian driven
(17:08):
type of dude. He was more personality driven. He wasn't
as buttoned up and what he did. But I mean
both of them were really good, super awesome. I was
just a Zachary fan. But anyway, point was, I was
I was doing media, like every off season you want
to know, I was doing.
Speaker 7 (17:23):
I was doing I was trying. I was in Hollywood.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
I was doing I was doing acting, and I was
doing media.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
Some of the adult films part of your life.
Speaker 7 (17:31):
Not no, I mean uh no, not not not the
not not at a.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
Professional capacity, but but but Hollywood did have the different
genres and categories that you could partake in and it
didn't have to be at the professional level, if you
know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (17:53):
Yeah, because you did that one movie, North Hill's Spills, right, Yeah,
I think he did. I'm not mistaken that was yours.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
I thought it was a LeVar the North Hills Hammer Jammer.
Speaker 7 (18:03):
Yes, Oh wow, No, I thought it was.
Speaker 4 (18:12):
So Hold on a second, you were like you were
a contestant on dream Job.
Speaker 7 (18:16):
Or I was a joke like I was.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
It was like it was like, uh, it was like
America's got talent. Yeah, Like that's a no for me.
Speaker 6 (18:24):
Yeah, I was just gonna say, man, like, I'm not
trying to compare you to Randy Jackson, but I feel
like you would be really good in a role like that,
Oh God, because you'd give your opinion and you might
trying to give him some help to if you're like,
that's no, but here's why, and here's what you do, Like,
I feel like.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
You'd be good in that spot.
Speaker 7 (18:41):
I did. That was kind of my approach. You know
what's interesting.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
I told y'all, like, not too long ago, I was
in the airport and it's like, really really good looking
group of people were looking at me, and I was like,
what are they looking at me for? I'm I'm in
shape now, so I'm like, what are they looking at me?
But I feel like I know why you're looking at me.
Why did the lady come up to me.
Speaker 7 (19:02):
And say, are you Randy Jackson?
Speaker 2 (19:05):
Oh no, no she didn't.
Speaker 6 (19:08):
That's a good day, God day, lady.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
I'm gonna get y'all's next round to Drake y'all and
Julie y'all. Sales man, please get away from me, Please
step away from the Randy Jackson looking like.
Speaker 4 (19:21):
Why do you think she would have asked if you
look like.
Speaker 7 (19:23):
Randy Jackson because I'm dark.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
I had question were they white?
Speaker 1 (19:30):
I don't think they were other. They weren't black, they
weren't white. I don't know what they were. They were
not agent.
Speaker 7 (19:39):
I was not. There's somewhere in there. I don't know
what it was.
Speaker 4 (19:42):
On Filipino.
Speaker 7 (19:44):
I don't know. It wasn't in that that round.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
Trailer park.
Speaker 1 (19:49):
No, no, no, no, good to go. They were, they
were good to go. Now I don't I just don't
know what. I don't know.
Speaker 4 (19:58):
Are you Randy Jackson?
Speaker 7 (20:00):
Are you Randy Jackson?
Speaker 2 (20:01):
There they checked other tang.
Speaker 4 (20:04):
Damn it is uh, it is two pros and a
cup of joe right now.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
I appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (20:13):
I posted it on my I G if you go
on my IG. The day they did it, I posted it.
Speaker 4 (20:18):
On my I G, Labar, you look more like Randy
Johnson than Randy Jackson. Don't makes sense, that's not at all.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
It Actually, when I put us up side by side,
it was like kind of like in my mind, I
was like, I get Samuel L. Jackson quite a bit,
and and I got Randy Jackson that day.
Speaker 7 (20:37):
And I didn't understand that. So there you go.
Speaker 1 (20:41):
My feelings were a tap bit like which I don't
think Randy Jackson is like an ugly dude.
Speaker 7 (20:46):
I just don't think I look like him, that's all.
Speaker 1 (20:48):
It ain't like I'm like, you know, one of those
dudes like you don't look I don't like that.
Speaker 6 (20:55):
It's like when people compare Brooks kept Cut to an
NFL linebacker. It's like he's a big he's big for
a golfer. But let's not go too far here comparing
him like you like you stuff and put him in.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
A gym locker. You know, It's like, that's not that's offensive. Yeah,
I got by the way.
Speaker 4 (21:14):
He was at the Panthers game last night.
Speaker 2 (21:16):
Yeah, a lot of peoples Randy Jackson, Brooks, Brooks Brooks,
they went by the way. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
I think if Randy had longer hair, or I had
shorter hair and had more of my forehead, because I
do got a big pronounced forehead, like cave man forehead.
Speaker 7 (21:34):
You know.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
My if the if the if the frames on my
glasses were thicker, I could see how I could maybe
look like his brother or like in the family, like
like Randy jack The Jackson family is a part of
It's too.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
Hard to make it work, man, there's no, there's there's no.
Speaker 4 (21:53):
And they missed.
Speaker 7 (21:54):
I appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (21:55):
It was an awful miss There's nothing wrong with that.
It's fine.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
That's up to you, Randy. I'm not I'm not offended
by you. I just don't I'm not you. I don't
look like you.
Speaker 7 (22:04):
That's all. That's all that wouldn't know.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
If we did a show together, like talking about talent,
I would love to do it because I think our
trash talk banter would be off the hook.
Speaker 7 (22:14):
But I just don't look like you.
Speaker 3 (22:16):
Though.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
It wouldn't be like the Twins show, you know, like
wouldn't be like that like and and.
Speaker 4 (22:20):
For the people who approached LeVar and confused him for
Randy Jackson, we would like to say of the you know,
of the racial other category, we would like to tell
you people don't look like you want to be ashamed
of yourselves.
Speaker 7 (22:37):
We don't all look alike that.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
I know some of y'all might not agree with that,
but I'm just telling you, good.
Speaker 7 (22:42):
Look, we actually don't all look like you know, just
say yeah.
Speaker 4 (22:48):
All right, coming up next here from the entire.
Speaker 2 (22:56):
We do have what you called him by the way
you called him another.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
I mean I don't know what to give them. I
didn't know what to give them, so I must say other.
Speaker 4 (23:04):
You know, we do have an update. There's some good
news and some bad news from one position group in
the NFL. We've got it for you next year on FSRAR.

Speaker 4 (23:58):
Two Pros and a Cup of Joe. You're on Fox
Sports Radio, LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you
coming up in about fifteen minutes from now, We're gonna
have our midweek awards, a Wednesday tradition. The good, the bad,
the ugly. That'll be yours here again from the tire
rack dot Com studios should point out it's been an
interesting offseason for wide receivers. Somebody did get paid yesterday,
(24:18):
so we'll start with the good news. Nico Collins of
the Houston Texans gets a three year, reportedly seventy two
point seventy five million dollar contract, fifty two million guaranteed.
This coming off a career best year, and just the
Houston Texans committing to building around CJ. Stroud, which is
(24:39):
wild considering how bad and how not optimistic everybody was
about the franchise. All of a sudden, you hit a quarterback,
you have the year they had last year, and now
it feels like the future is really bright and they're
a legitimate contender in the AFC. So that'll be fun
to watch for CJ. Stroud get some support from his
organization there, you know, with some more talent around him.
Speaker 6 (25:00):
The crazy thing is they paid Nico what they're paying him,
and eventually're gonna have to sign up Tank Dell, who's
on a second year of his rookie deal, and Diggs
is there in like a one year proven deal. So
I'm sure after playing with c J. Stroud, Diggs will
want to stay there, I would think at least. But
you got him as the one. Nico Collins is two
(25:22):
three depending on how you see Tank Dell in this offense.
I mean, they got some legit weapons and they are
splurging and paying these guys while they've gotten CJ.
Speaker 2 (25:31):
Stroud on his rookie deal. Pretty crazy.
Speaker 7 (25:33):
Good for them, by the way. Yeah, have a happy team,
happy team, happy life.
Speaker 4 (25:38):
You know that's right.
Speaker 2 (25:40):
They've already seen the downside of that.
Speaker 7 (25:41):
Yes, they have.
Speaker 4 (25:43):
You tell me if if you find this to be
accurate or reckless. From LeVar, so we were talking about
come front, all right, hold on, So.
Speaker 7 (25:56):
I'm sitting there thinking you about to say another name?
You run me right air, Okay, I'm on the show,
all right.
Speaker 4 (26:03):
So he was saying, because we were talking about there
was some report that came out that Stefan Diggs was
not at OTAs, and LaVar was saying that, you know,
I mean, big deal, it's you know, it's ot AS,
it's not mandatory, and.
Speaker 7 (26:15):
He hasn't done that.
Speaker 4 (26:16):
Yeah, okay, and he hasn't you know, shown up to
Texans ot As reportedly and U and so I thought, well,
I mean, he's brand new to the team. I would
show up. I would think, all right, you know, this
should make my presence felt, you know, show them I'm
committed to the franchise, to the organization. I would be there.
(26:36):
I found it a little odd that Stefan Diggs did
not show up, and LaVar painted me and I quote as, oh, yeah,
you'd be one of those guys that'd show up at
ot As. You'd be one of those guys sitting in
the front of the class.
Speaker 7 (26:47):
That's what I had to do to show Monday.
Speaker 4 (26:49):
He basically called me a kiss ass and I.
Speaker 7 (26:52):
Had shown yeah, whoa.
Speaker 4 (26:55):
Because all I said was I would have shown up
if I was Stefan Diggs to OTAs brand new team,
him set the tone, show him you want to be there,
and he's nowhere to be and then.
Speaker 1 (27:04):
You're the type that hates on the guys that aren't there.
That's right, That's what makes it worse. It's not the
bad part that you're there. That's okay, that you're there.
Speaker 4 (27:11):
Coach Ryan, coach Ryan's Stephan's not here, that's that's you.
Speaker 7 (27:19):
That's you, that's what makes it bad.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
Go ahead.
Speaker 6 (27:23):
First off, in regards to Jonas, there's no doubt Jonas
would be.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
The kiss ass in the front in the learning team.
Speaker 6 (27:30):
Remember the learning team, right like the front row and
then like straight right down the middle, even to the back.
Speaker 2 (27:35):
Jonas would be in the front row, though he'd be sitting.
Speaker 6 (27:38):
There, probably afraid to ask a certain question, not to
look dumb or something, but we'll try to participate.
Speaker 2 (27:45):
Be a kiss ass.
Speaker 7 (27:47):
All right.
Speaker 4 (27:49):
Well, I think Stefan Diggs should have been there. That's
what I think. Two guys who are not there, T Higgins,
Jamar Chase.
Speaker 7 (28:00):
So I'm not that's a different team.
Speaker 4 (28:02):
Well, I'm just not all feeling all that confident now
with just seeing how this is going. And then Joe Burrow,
who's apparently he's not on a pitch count yet he
doesn't really know what's going on with the injury. We're
not I'm sure what the injury was. I was pretty
bullish on Cincinnati winning that division. I thought it was
a four gone conclusion. What the hell's going on with
(28:22):
Jamar Chase and with T Higgins? I mean, this is
two guys same position 're both looking for deals. You
can't pay everybody, so how the hell is this going
to pay out?
Speaker 6 (28:32):
Yeah, that's the difficulty if you look at teams that
are trying to keep their rosters together with star and
talented players and obviously you know T Higgins, Jamar Chase,
Joe Burrow kind of your big three in Cincinnati, if
you will. And the difficulty is the precedent that you'd
be setting if you are the Brown family who owned
(28:53):
the sin Stadi Bengals, is Jamar Chase has two years
left on his rookie deal. Most teams don't want to
get even stars that new deal, unless it's a quarterback.
That's probably the exception with two years left in their deal.
And one of the more recent examples is Zeke Elliott
with the Dallas Cowboys. And we saw how that kind
of worked out for Dallas. We saw how it worked
(29:14):
out for Zeke. You know, he had to you know,
he left after a while and then came back. Now,
it's just if you're looking at how this typically works out.
Once they set the present for Jamar Chase, then they
have to do it for everyone else. And mind you, you
still have to deal with T. Higgins, who is a
solid receiver, for them. Now, the problem for t Higgins
(29:35):
is he's been healthy like two of the four years
he's been there, and so that might be of concern,
you know, for them. And he's not coming off his
best year this most recent year. So he's got the
franchise tag, which is, you know, paying him a.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
Hell of a deal for a one year deal.
Speaker 6 (29:50):
And maybe you kick the can down the road and
you address this situation next year with Burrow back healthy
and ready to go.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
But the other problem, going back to the Brown family is.
Speaker 6 (30:00):
They have paid a lot of cash out to Joe
Burrow because he signed his deal remember last season, and
he got forty million of which is a signing bonus.
So just so people understand how this all works, when
you talk about the cash within a deal, the monies
are paid out right now. He gets to forty million
right away, hits his bank account. It's pro rated though,
(30:20):
I mean it's spread throughout the rest of his deal,
you know, for the rest of his contract for salary
cap purposes.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
Well, that same rules applied for option.
Speaker 6 (30:29):
Bonuses and I think they paid him like fifty or
fifty five million this year in an option bonus. So
he has gotten paid a ton of cash. And the
reason why I bring this up is because, well, then
it's hard to sign Jamar Chase to an extension because
he's going to want a big signing bonus, He's going
to want big option bonuses in cash to reduce his
cap hit.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
And for T Higgins, same thing.
Speaker 6 (30:51):
So there's always so much cash to go around, and
really it's the richest owners who have enough cash to
be able to put into a lot of these.
Speaker 2 (31:01):
That allow it to work under the salary cap.
Speaker 6 (31:04):
And unfortunately for the Cincinati Bengals, you know, they had
to go get a Pay Pay Corps as their sponsor
for the stadium to help facilitate the moneies that are
paid out to Joe Burrow on his deal. So unless
they're going to find a bunch of other sponsors, it's
just hard to make all of the economics work for
everyone on their team.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
That's the issue right now. But it's not a big deal.
Speaker 6 (31:22):
I mean, no, tas aren't mandator anyway, not until mandatory midiicamp.
You know, then your subject defines and so forth.
Speaker 4 (31:28):
I'd be there.
Speaker 7 (31:30):
Front row, front row, I'll say this.
Speaker 1 (31:36):
T Higgins, I mean he's had two thousand yard years out.
I won't go deep into stats. This is what I'll
say to what because I think you gave a great
analysis on it. I'll just add this as q Q
get a great analysis on it. Sorry, front row sitter,
you know, I would add to it that you have
(31:57):
an amount of time when you have the amount of
time talent that Cincinnati has had, because they've even had
the defensive end. Say he wants to trade and wants
to lead their best defensive player Anderson. There we go,
and so to me, you have a team that's had
so much talent. The only time you really start to
see the justification of guys being okay with coming back
(32:18):
and taking the contracts that they're given is when they're
winning Super Bowls. We saw that happen in New England.
We've seen it somewhat happen in Kansas City. When a
team is good and they have that much talent, not
only can you bring in free agents, and the guys
within that that organization are looking at it like I
(32:38):
stand to make more money based off of the talent
that we have on this team. I want to be
paid and I want to be compensated fairly. But at
the same time, I'm more open and I'm more willing
to work with the organization when we have something that
that is winning because you're you're earning. Capacity goes way
up when you come out of the league as a
winner versus coming out of the league as just a
(32:59):
you know, you were in the league.
Speaker 7 (33:01):
So they haven't.
Speaker 1 (33:02):
I mean, as well as they've done and as close
as they've come, they haven't gone to the point of
where I would say the conversation is justifiable for guys
to stay. So you end up losing guys you lost mixing.
That's a big piece we're talking about the Texans. He's
an addition to the Texans. I think he's going to
be a tremendous addition to that team. You're you're gonna
(33:24):
lose guys that build a culture and build a dynamic
that is a winning culture and a winning dynamic when
guys all need to get paid or wanting to be
paid at the same time. So it creates complications when
the team isn't quite at that spot, at that place
where you say I can take I can take this
(33:45):
number and live with it because I know we're going
to go to the super Bowl. I know we might
win the super Bowl. There's a chance we're going to
get it. I know that belief in that trust is
in Joe Burrow, but I mean, is it like is
it yeah, I don't know, Like I don't know. It's
like I don't know that is that is that belief
(34:06):
still there all the way? Whereas you know, I can
I can work with this this number because Joe Burrow
is going to get me to you know, over a
thousand yards. I mean, Jamar Chase's that's our our Gotti.
He's really really well.
Speaker 4 (34:18):
It must be nice to be the chiefs. That's just
a question there have to worry about. Now we got
my homes are fine, We'll figure it out. Tyre wants
to leave before.
Speaker 2 (34:26):
Are you saying?
Speaker 6 (34:27):
Do you have questions about Burrow in that way?
Speaker 7 (34:29):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (34:29):
I don't know that I do, But I'm not in
I'm not in the facility, you know what I mean? Like,
I don't you know Q just as well as I
do the there's the very very different type of information
that is disseminated amongst players inside of the locker room.
So I don't know it well enough to speak on it.
(34:50):
I'm just saying, if a dude is saying, I want
my money, and I want my money now. Like what
what Jefferson is doing or possibly what Jamar Chase is doing.
You're saying, I'm this is self present. I want my
chips and dip right now. I'm not basing it off
anything else.
Speaker 4 (35:05):

There are some good things that happen, and there's some bad,
and then there's some downright ugly things. It's time for good, bad,
and lovely.
Speaker 4 (36:12):
All right, lead the lab. What do we got?
Speaker 5 (36:14):
Well, as we do each and every Wednesday, we start
with the good, and this week we got Jonas delivering
the good.
Speaker 2 (36:18):
Whoa did you smell.
Speaker 4 (36:20):
That earlier this week? Smell what a couple of days ago,
maybe on a Monday, just kind of you know, take
take a big whiff. You know what that smells like?
Speaker 7 (36:28):
What is it?
Speaker 4 (36:28):
Barbecue season? It's here. They were all cranking up around
the neighborhood, people enjoying a barbecue, realizing, you know what,
We're gonna be doing this a lot more often for
about the next three months. While the weather's nice, nice
cool er, a beer, get yourself a couple of throat burners,
cook a nice burger, maybe a brot or a hot dog,
(36:50):
maybe a ribbi, whatever you want. You go to a
hardware store. They've got display out in front with a
nice piece of meat on the grill. It's barbecue season.
That's my good for the Weekly.
Speaker 2 (37:03):
Oh yeah, I love it.
Speaker 4 (37:04):
Well, you can't have good without the bad. Brady, what
was bad?
Speaker 6 (37:07):
Brad Rick Carlisle just boding complaining about the officiating. I mean, look, yes,
swept about the number one seed in the East. It's okay,
all right, no one thought the Pacers would be there.
If you're saying you did, you're lying to yourself.
Speaker 2 (37:24):
But it was bad. Just take the yell. Just take
the yell. Yes, swept.
Speaker 7 (37:27):
Take that to the number one team.
Speaker 2 (37:29):
Take it.
Speaker 4 (37:30):
Take it and from bad to worse? LeVar, what was
ugly this week?
Speaker 1 (37:34):
I think it was ugly that they allow Carl Anthony
Towns to get the credit for this win against UH
against the Mavericks. I mean, you got Jonas Knox coming
in here talking trash. Listen, man, they should have got
swept the Celtics. Tone they did and the match didn't.
So I think that was ugly. Damn should have been
a sweet two sweeps
