Speaker 1 (00:02):
It's the best of two pros and a couple Joe
with lamar As, Rady Winn and Jonas Knox on Box Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
It just appears like there's a bit of a gap between.
Speaker 3 (00:19):
It's it's a pingus effect. You ordered at Poisinguis last year.
I did get some porzingis, Yeah I did. It was like,
let me get a little bit of persingis on some
of that result.
Speaker 4 (00:32):
Dropping some threes on. Let me.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
They were loose, man, they were loose. They were comfortable,
they were confident. I don't know how to go and
play on the road, but if they can defend home
like this, they're in pretty good shape.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
I think they've won six in a row on the road,
so they've been uh just they've actually been better over
the past couple of years on the road by a
large margin than at home. But yeah, that was and
once onslaught like Dallas got it to eight. Yeah, they
wanted to give it away.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Now they wanted They almost were like Minnesota like in
that third quarter.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
Geez, you know they're listening on k Fan right now.
I mean, I'm just saying they wanted to give it away.
Damn man.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
The Mavericks was walking them down. They were walking them down,
and they just went cold, like they couldn't catch anything.
They couldn't catch any type of shots going in. So
I don't know, man, that's it gave. It was interesting
to see the MAVs pull it to eight. I was like,
(01:41):
looking at the score, I'm like, I'm like, is my
math off? Like I'm really sitting there trying to figure
out how they're getting that how they got that close?
But they did, and I'm if I'm Jason Kidd and
I'm the Dallas Mavericks. I got to think about what
were we able to do to alter their their offensive output,
(02:06):
because I mean, you gotta say early on their output
was like kind of like, I mean, can they sustain that?
Can they can they hit that many threes? All they
do is chuck threes. I mean they do go to
the whole. Jalen was going to the hole. He dunked
on somebody's neck. I don't know who that was, but
(02:26):
he dunked on somebody. And Tatum was going to the
whole little bit too. But they just shoot like they
just be shooting, like get them the ball, shoot guy
in their face.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
Shoot.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
They just shoot if they're making it it's gonna be
hard to keep up with them because it's too many
of them that can shoot. But when they go cold,
you can see when they go cold, you got a chance.
Then the question becomes what can you do as a
defense to try to guard the perimeter but at the
same time be able to like limit them to like
one shot. That's going to be to me, that's going
(03:02):
to be the key to to this series is how
does Jason Kidd adjust to the fact that you literally
have five guys on the court that can shoot it
from anywhere on the court. That's that's a tough that's
a tough, tough challenge to try to figure out a
scheme and a game plan for. And by the way
(03:24):
they play defense, they d up. That's the other thing too.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
Yeah, they d you up.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
Man.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
They ain't just letting you get easy buckets. They they
contesting you. That's tough. And I knew that was going
to be what porzingis added that extra little added dimension. Yeah, man,
the Horford Horford were showing that he will keep up.
He was showing he could keep up with.
Speaker 5 (03:49):
Oh yeah, great points, showing up when he needs to,
yeah yeah, popping off shots when he.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
Needs to So I'm talking about Yeah, been around the
block of time or two, been around that, been around
that block.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
Been around that block. Baby.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
The Kyrie Irving struggles against Boston, I think he's oh
for his last the Owen eleven in his last eleven
games against the Celtics, since he stomped on the logo,
he's like Owen six.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
Only a Celtics fan would know that, right.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Well, no, because it's all over the place. I mean
that's sort of the discussions. Yeah, I mean, you just yeah,
you just It's an.
Speaker 5 (04:25):
Article I read literally just the first sentence said, since
Kyrie stomped on the logo, this is what is read.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
You saw the same one. That's what I'm talking about.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
It looked like a Celtics fan boy paper.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Yeah, listen, that's that's, you know, a reckless accusation again
to start off the show. And there needs to be
some fines handed out for this because this is enough,
is enough, all right, and things have got to change
around here. But Kyrie did talk about the atmosphere in Boston.
He did not play well. Uh, Luca needed a little
bit of help. He did not get it from Kyrie.
But here was Kyrie Irving discussing the game afterwards. I
(04:59):
promise you, I swearing. Kyrie Irving was definitely discussing the
game afterwards, no doubt about it. He was absolutely discussing
the game. Well listen, Okay, apparently maybe he was not
discussing the game. Kyrie Irving apparently was not discussing the
game afterwards. No, that's not yeah, that's uh. Let's yeah,
(05:22):
let's just scratch the whole thing. Let's let's just let's good,
all right. Take five did not work. All right, so
let's just go ahead and we'll wipe that up. Point is, Jonas,
let's just start over it. Start the period, unbelievable. He
struggled and uh, and the Dallas Mavericks came up short.
But now that they head into game two, do you
(05:44):
just basically your Jason Kidds show him that six minute
stretch in the third quarter and say, if we could
just do this for the other portion of the game,
we've got a legitimate shot in this series. Because that
of the stands right now, the odds have shifted to
the Celtics a minus four twenty five to win this series,
with three games left and three wins to go for
(06:06):
the Boston Celtics. So how do we feel about the
Dallas Mavericks chances moving forward?
Speaker 5 (06:10):
I mean, it's gonna take Doncic and Kyrie playing as
good as they can possibly play every single game. There
is no support of the outside of those two, at
least not enough to overcome one of them having an
off night, and clearly Kyrie had an off night last night.
That whole logo stomping thing. It's just stuck with them forever, agreed.
(06:32):
But that's the difference in the two rosters. You know,
if you look at Boston, like they have so many
different ways of scoring, so many different people that can
pitch in, and now with Porzingis, it's just it's it's
overwhelming at times, right, the different ways they can play,
the different ways they can score defensively, how they can
match up, and just it feels like it's gonna take
(06:53):
a heroic effort from Donchis and Kyrie to make this
thing work.
Speaker 4 (06:57):
And I mean look good for the Celtics.
Speaker 5 (07:00):
I feel like for guys like you know, Jonas, who
have rooted for the Celtics for a long time, big
big a big time fan, you finally get a championship
and it didn't take like a Big three.
Speaker 4 (07:11):
You know, this is to me, this is.
Speaker 5 (07:13):
A roster and this is a team that has a
foundation that can last. You have to give a lot
of credit to Brad Stevens Joe Mazzula for the job
they've done.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
Now is it? Do you guys find it offensive? And
I'll ask Brady this all right, so LaVar, you can't
really comment on this. This is Yeah, that's because I'm black. Well,
I mean, listen, Drew Holiday. Drew Holiday said afterwards, included
when that happened, what about that that messed up there?
Speaker 4 (07:43):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (07:43):
So Drew Holiday set after the game that even our
white guys guard. Okay, so is anybody offended by the
fact that he is pointing out that even even the
white players and the Boston Celtics also guard.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
That seems strange, Yeah, Like because I would think that
you would I think that the white boys would be
playing like fundamentally sound defense stuff like that, because they're
not maybe as athletic as the brothers.
Speaker 4 (08:14):
Does he take a shot at Luca?
Speaker 2 (08:19):
That's a great pool Because they were pointing that out
right to where Jason Kidd was saying, you know, as
long as they just participate defensively talking about Kyrie and Luca,
which feels like a great pool Q dang shaye.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
I mean, why else would you make that comment?
Speaker 2 (08:37):
Well, I think you know, Peyton, Pritchard, Sam.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
Hauser, they had them all out there, the Celtics White,
they had defend.
Speaker 5 (08:47):
I'm just saying, why else would you Celtics Baby, you're
you're saying make a comment like that to contrast what
you do and what they don't do.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
Yeah, I mean I feel like you might have. You
might have hit on something there.
Speaker 4 (09:02):
Jonas doesn't think so.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
They didn't mention the other the other guy with the
ball head that's l like to what's what?
Speaker 2 (09:08):
What is? Who is he? Derek White?
Speaker 3 (09:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Even his last name Yeah that Brady told me that
was the best part about him was his last name, Yeah,
which I which I thought to be a little bit
over the top. He even plays defense. I don't know,
you didn't say.
Speaker 4 (09:22):
That, great defense, great shooter.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
There is the next factor, definitely, that's for sure.
Speaker 6 (09:30):
That is for sure.
Speaker 4 (09:31):
But I will take team we can.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
Yeah, we got to really decide on some stuff here,
all right.
Speaker 4 (09:37):
Well, but they get Lucas, Yeah, we do get Luca.
We already talked about that.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
Very true. You guys get Luca and and wit Sky
Dirt get dirt. Oh yeah, you get dirt. Look him up.
League gets Dirk. If you know Dirk, look him up.
What I'm saying, look him up? We had him. Yeah
he's with us. But I don't think that that's he
what I don't know, hook him up? Yeah, I mean
(10:04):
he does have the resume. Dirt noted that. Yeah, dirt,
the lap he does.
Speaker 4 (10:17):
Hollow.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
Oh boy, make some noise. This is why I struggle
to side off on Drew Holiday making the comment even
our white guy's guard is a direct shot at Luca
because LaVar, you've pointed this out black and blue, you know, European.
Is that the same thing? I mean, what's it all about?
(10:41):
Just the just the just the skin, and what's that
all about? I'm just bet on the Weather Channel. Tell
you that, do you think? Tell you that I think
you are and are out? Yeah, you get that out
of the way. Well, listen, it's unfortunate if you're a
(11:01):
Dallas Mavericks fan. Not the way you expect a game
one to go. Also, I was gonna mention this yesterday
and it seems pretty obvious to me. Luca doesn't look
one hundred percent like he does not like. He looks
like he's trotting up and down the floor at a
really slow pace. And I don't know if that's just
the way he plays or he's still dealing with whatever
he's dealing with when it comes to the knee injury.
(11:22):
But he also does not look one hundred percent as.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
A finals man. Doesn't matter, all right, you don't get that.
You don't get that one right there. You don't get
to check that box off. You can't do it.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
Listen, I'm trying to find, uh, you can't do it,
trying to find a glimmer of hope for the Mavericks here. Well,
it's saying that Luca is banged up and can't get
it done is not giving them hope. And also we
had to wait for two months for the finals to start,
and then we got to wait until Sunday for game two.
We can't we can't get this thing going on Saturday.
(11:56):
Like they got to push it all.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
Definitely, maybe one day on one day off, come on, man,
let's get it done.
Speaker 5 (12:04):
Covered stinks damn, I mean, I don't I don't care
if people take issue with that all right, it's not
even close to t N T.
Speaker 3 (12:12):
It's just not man, I got to disagree. I mean,
listen the way stephen A. Smith came walking into that arena.
You best better know that that ESPN is all about
that smoke.
Speaker 4 (12:25):
You don't need to make sure people know your joke
when you.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
Say I am joking joking, I'm joking.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
By the way, it's why are you walking with the
security guard period in little bag?
Speaker 2 (12:38):
Why does whye does ESPN put a camera on him
making his walk into.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
I think there's somebody behind the scenes that is sitting there,
like stephen A is a d bag and I want
the whole world to see it. Well, he thinks he's
being this like conquering hero. I want the world to
see my way out of ESPN. I'm gonna raise my
hand be like it was me that was going to
ISO shots and Steve Smith when it was coming into
(13:08):
the arena like he was like he was about to go,
like im about to go warm up. Let me beside
the monograms. I'm gonna go get go, get to the
shoot around.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
And here's the thing. I like Steven A. Smith. He
did this show in this time slot years ago. He
is an FSR alum. But it's got to stop. This
has got to stop.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
Somebody's got a pay it loves himself, bro. I never
even paid that much attention to stephen A. Smith, to
be honest with you, I never, like, I just never.
Speaker 5 (13:39):
That's all part of ESPN though, annoying him, putting on
the platform to make him feel like he is that
I mean that that that's part of it too. But again,
aside from Stephen A. Smith and it it's just their
coverage that the in game coverage, it's just nothing is
even close to TNT. The way they scheduled these games
(14:00):
is irritating, very similar to why we had to wait
until June sixth, but now even waiting till Sunday, the
whole entire thing.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
And then they play a role in now for people
who are like, oh, it's the NBA. No it's not.
It's the TV network. They pay for it, they've got
other programming.
Speaker 5 (14:14):
They're the ones who helped kind of shape when the
schedule actually comes out. They have a much greater input
than even the league. So it's it's frustrating because they
get stuff and they will take it and ruin it,
and I almost wonder too.
Speaker 4 (14:30):
And even with the talk of the NBA and w NBA,
because they've got rights to.
Speaker 5 (14:34):
Those things, it's like they manipulate it to not make
it about the sport.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
And and it's in an effort, I.
Speaker 5 (14:41):
Think, to hype up their studio shows during the week
so they have something to talk about.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
So like now and now there's even like.
Speaker 5 (14:48):
Beef like where like you know, all former players are
talking on the studio shows, like that becomes the discussion
point instead of the actual games themselves.
Speaker 4 (14:57):
I hate it. It's hard to watch man really is hang.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
Yeah, it's uh. And you know, we've got another three
months until game two, so it's just gonna we're gonna
be crap. At least at least you extending the series come.
We got to find a way to extend it in
some ways.
Speaker 4 (15:18):
Is there odds? Like what's the odds for a four
game suite?
Speaker 2 (15:21):
Uh? Efforting? They might have went up yesterday. I'll tell
you that, Yes they did. Jes let's see van for
me here. It was a little bit a little vet veggie,
a little.
Speaker 4 (15:31):
Bit What would you guess that they are?
Speaker 5 (15:34):
I don't want to find a guess would say plus.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
Oh, I say less than too high. Yeah, I think so.
Speaker 4 (15:42):
But you don't think Dallas will still one game like
bad shot.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
I said, I think they'll still one. I feel like
it's going to go to a game six. I really do.
I think it'll go to a game six. I still
think it'll go to a game six. But I will
say this, after watching yesterday, how comfortable and confident the
Celtics were in playing against this Mavericks team. It looks
(16:10):
like it is a style differential. Uh, it is a
style match that is totally in favor of the Boston Celtics.
And and that that says something because you would think
that the West is the more dominant of the two sides.
And for the Celtics to be so relaxed and so
(16:31):
comfortable in such a big game, a big series, that's
that's that's concerning.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
If you if you're a if you're a Mavericks fan,
plus four hundred on a Celtics sweep, according to Lee
to laugh, Lee was rewatching the pre and post, starring
with Leik Andrews. So we just wanted to make sure
that we got the coracked odds on that. So we
are we are good to go on that. So plus
four hundred if you believe that the Boston Celtics gonna
(17:00):
lose another game, and that'll that'll pay out forur to
one one hundred dollars four hundred or in my terms,
ten dollars forty. So that's how that works. But hey, listen,
we'll see game two coming up. Was it fourth of July?
I believe, so it will be literally corner. It is
two Pros and a Cup of Joe here on Fox
Sports Radio. All I forgot to mention this to you guys,
(17:23):
and I should have said this. You should have damn it.
It was too busy singing. Joonas knocks the Jones knock.
So it's a football ront there you go. Come on, Mark, Yeah,
come on, Yes, Friday coming up, so let's turn to
(17:44):
another game. So let's do something. Come on, come on,
come on, got dang, come on looking at what we're
looking at?
Speaker 4 (18:03):
All right?
Speaker 2 (18:03):
Come on, Mark, come on, Mark, here we.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
Go Friday night, as of Yeah football, Brady Quinn, come on,
throw the ball, catch the ball.
Speaker 6 (18:18):
Score.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
It is a football coming up.
Speaker 1 (18:24):

Speaker 4 (19:00):
For John Gordon.
Speaker 7 (19:01):
We've all been through some sort of adversity to get
to the top.
Speaker 4 (19:04):
We've all used different tools.
Speaker 7 (19:06):
Listen to Unbreakable with Jay Glazer and Mental Wealth podcast
on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get podcasts.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
We got ourselves a little bit of a problem in
the NFL. So this Brazil game is coming up to
start off the year for the Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles,
and people are really excited about it. We've talked about it.
You know, maybe there'd be some people that just decide.
Speaker 4 (19:32):
Not to come excited.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
Yeah, I mean, why wouldn't he be? And then Josh Jacobs,
new Packers running back, was on The green Light podcast
with Chris Long, and he discussed the Packers heading over
to Brazil and apparently there's a little bit of a
problem with the trip. You're going to open the season
against my Eagles down in Brazil. Man, what are you
(19:55):
most excited about?
Speaker 4 (19:56):
You know?
Speaker 2 (19:57):
They said that the part of Brazil were going so
you can't even work green at Really yeah, why, they said, like,
I guess something to do with the gangs and stuff. Dude,
I'm not going. I'm not going. They said, We're not
going to Rio. We're going, they said.
Speaker 4 (20:12):
They told us.
Speaker 1 (20:13):
They was like, man, it's one of them places where
they probably won't even let us leave a full team.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
Damn, I'm not going.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
No what what color? Yeah? What college?
Speaker 2 (20:25):
How?
Speaker 1 (20:25):
They probably gonna have like armored vehicles.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
Following the from I said, bro, why are we out here?
I'm prett suing Josh Jacob's like hanging out on the bea.
But it doesn't sound like that kind of trip. I
was looking forward to it.
Speaker 4 (20:38):
I'm like, man, we're about to be it's about to
be a fun week.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
We got telling us all of that. They're like, yeah, no,
it's not going to like all right, all right, so
cancel that trip. We're good.
Speaker 3 (20:49):
So that was kind of a lame interview though, Well
they all cancel the trip.
Speaker 2 (20:54):
I'm not going. I'm not going. I'm not going. I'm
not going. The color schemes of the teams heading out
the interesting Yeah, so how do you get around that?
So so for all the fans that were unaware of that,
they just going to be jacked stood up.
Speaker 4 (21:10):
Do you think the NFL was aware of this?
Speaker 2 (21:13):
Probably they're telling them, And why wouldn't they be.
Speaker 5 (21:18):
The fact they went ahead and were like, oh no,
this this Brazil game would be a great idea.
Speaker 4 (21:23):
Oh, by the way, you're putting two teams in there
who are green.
Speaker 5 (21:26):
And there's a there's some gangs and I mean, look,
I remember being briefed when I got drafted to Cleveland
about by the local police force and then the local
gangs that were there. And you know, some of it,
I'm sure is to kind of scare you, to make
sure you you do conduct yourself in a proper manner
and be saved.
Speaker 4 (21:43):
Some of it's just to inform you of what's out there.
But one of the things they.
Speaker 5 (21:47):
Said to us, They're like, hey, that the gangs are
actually really strong here. They said that there's not like
the national games, like gangs like the Bloods, Crips and
all that, they go. No, they're like they they have
their own gangs, like here are the names. Here's kind
of like the areas, et cetera where they operate all stuff.
So you want to stay away from these areas. And
I remember thinking to myself, like, all right, well, at least,
(22:09):
like it's nice to have the information and all that.
But they never told us like you couldn't wear a
certain color or you couldn't you know. I mean, maybe
they said you couldn't go out in a certain area,
but they were like, you know, they were it was
more formative than anything else, but they were fully aware
of it. I would imagine the NFL had some intel
into this before just choosing to throw a.
Speaker 4 (22:27):
Game down there.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
Like there are five teams by my count in the
NFL that have green in their color scheme. They sent
two of the five.
Speaker 3 (22:36):
Right, Well, you're talking about bloods and crips and American gangs.
I mean, the Philadelphia Eagles gang is a gang too.
They better be careful them, Brazilians better be careful with them.
Eagles fans to mess around and find out you find
out those lightholes, huh, better you won't find out. Yeah,
(22:59):
it's gonna be some guy walking around green gang green
what what?
Speaker 4 (23:04):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (23:04):
Yeah, you're gonna mess around and see some of these
eagles fast him ing up some.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
Like there's there's some guy walking around in a Randall
Cunningham throwback and he's gonna have a dude roll up
on him because yeah, you can't wear that color.
Speaker 4 (23:20):
So wow.
Speaker 3 (23:21):
I mean, but those are two different types of green,
So which one is more offensive to the gangs? I
would be curious to know which is it? Just every
shade of green? All right, so this is is it
money green?
Speaker 2 (23:33):
Is it green? So we've got the Jets, Yeah, we've
got the Dolphins and the Jets. The Dolphins green? Is
that turquoise blue?
Speaker 5 (23:43):
It's like a teal right, that's blue, turquoise turquoise kind of.
Speaker 4 (23:49):
Take away from you being like hard if one of your.
Speaker 5 (23:52):
Colors is turquoise, Yes, I mean it can't be a
tough team if you.
Speaker 4 (23:56):
I mean, yes, that's tough.
Speaker 2 (23:59):
I mean, how do they view it in Brazil? I
would be curious. I mean, there's a reason why the
Buccaneers haven't gone back to the creamsicle uniforms full time.
They should. But I think you know, you're supposed to
got this giant pirate ship and you're walking around looking for.
Speaker 5 (24:12):
Derek Brooks and Warren Sap, those guys in creamsickle. I
don't care whom rice right, they would still get after you.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
Yeah, I gotta agree with that. Yeah, I got the
orange pops.
Speaker 4 (24:24):
It's just hits a little different.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
It does hit a little different. I agree with that.
Plenty of options, you know, like what about like all
that they didn't put nothing in there to throw it off,
like Jacksonville has like a kind of a color like
that like that.
Speaker 4 (24:36):
You know, you guys are worried about the green.
Speaker 5 (24:38):
I'm worried about people who've got look like Jonahs that
stick out like a light switch.
Speaker 6 (24:44):
That supposed to me.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
I mean, Jonas actually looks like he could be Brazilian.
Speaker 4 (24:51):
Yeah he does.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
You gotta check that. You look at the little the
scale you get you you could actually pass for Brazilian.
I appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (25:03):
You know what's crazy, I could pass for Brazilian. See
that's where you and I meet in Brazil. Jonas, there
you go.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
I guess my.
Speaker 5 (25:13):
Point was the NFL fans arriving to Brazil because it's
really easy to identify.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
Yes, people, there's some pasty ass Brazilians. Man, Yes, every
Brazilian is not dark.
Speaker 2 (25:31):
Mind. I feel like I'm well versed.
Speaker 3 (25:34):
Yeah, but you know which I feel like, I feel like,
I mean, there's some past Brazil.
Speaker 2 (25:40):
I can't have an opinion. I would like to believe
that on the such as these.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
I mean, but you think about it, if you think
about what the mixtures of people are and the constant
people are, I mean, you're going to have both ends
of the spectrum, very very light and very very dark.
Speaker 2 (26:10):
You should change your profile as college football Hall of
Famer Fox Sports radio host and Skin Complexion insider Labar Arrington.
I'll tell you it's really black experts. No, he's not
black and he ain't white. That's right. I got that. Yeah,
it just feels like this was maybe not the most
well thought out playing I'm in that's what you got
(26:33):
going on. You got the players feeling that way about it.
And listen, in football, it's much different than basketball, and
they'll be the most protected, right, They're gonna be fine.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
Bro.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
It's the fans that I think about last year that
you're right if you're if you're a fan, and I
say this half kidding.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
But you spent all your money to get the plane
ticket to get there, you know what, your hotel is
not as as extravagant as you'd like for it to be.
Speaker 4 (27:00):
Like.
Speaker 2 (27:00):
And also this like, if you're learning trying to learn.
Speaker 3 (27:02):
The language, I don't know you can as long as
you got selles service.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
You can communicate with anybody these days by bn B.
But the point is, but do they here B and
B BBL If you're a if you're a Packers fan,
if you're a Packers fan and you go over there
and you're trying to learn the language, and you tell
(27:33):
somebody you won't need that long, and you tell somebody
who's your team, and you go, well, green Bay, We're
from green Bay. If that gets lost in translation, and
all they understand is green all of a sudden, you've
got to ship at your neck and they're and they're
taking everything that you got on you. This is a
problem not well thought out.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
If I still want to go, If they're saying, if
what they're saying on that on that sound bite is true,
this is definitely a something to be concerned about. I mean,
I like, imagine, imagine a report coming back from there
that one of those fans got murdered.
Speaker 5 (28:17):
Imagine if you're Brazil, though, you risk allowing that to
take place. I mean that would kill tourism for a
long time. Yeah, I mean, remember all that stuff was
going on, and.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
You it if you're Brazil though, like.
Speaker 5 (28:32):
It was a Cancun or somewhere else for like there's
a lot of crazy stuff going like people being beheaded
and whatnot. You know, people were scared to go down there.
I mean it's it's only takes one or two things
like that. Then people read about it. They're like, I'm
not going there. There's too much competition and the other
great places to go.
Speaker 2 (28:50):
I mean, do you think maybe because remember when Chris
Carter was brought in to talk to rookies and he ever,
you know you need to fall Well, I just think
like maybe if you're the NFL, do you bring in
Barretts and be like, hey listen, oh no, here's the deal,
all right, just because it's just because the Donkey shows
are free, not the place you want to go.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
What does a donkey show have to do with Brazil.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
I'm just saying you know you're in a foreign country.
Speaker 4 (29:15):
I don't.
Speaker 2 (29:18):
Falls there's pitfalls, donkey happen in America.
Speaker 4 (29:22):
I don't know. That really does take us into a
gutter every time.
Speaker 2 (29:27):
I'm trying to look out for the people.
Speaker 5 (29:29):
Would people say stuff to you on Twitter or acts
them like, man, that's harsh, and then you do.
Speaker 4 (29:34):
This, I'm like, well it's justified because you do this.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
Look I was told by what a Donkey.
Speaker 4 (29:42):
Show in Mexico. I have anything to do with Brazil.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
I'm just saying there are pitfalls when you go to
other countries. Maybe people walk into one door when they
meant to walk into another, and all of a sudden,
you know, there's stuff going on. I'm just like, there
are people that they can there are resources out there
that they can go to, and I'm just trying to
find a solution to make this trip safer for everybody.
I would like to say I'm in, Like, if they
(30:06):
want to send us, I'm still in. Like I don't
own an article of green, so I'm good. They say
black clothing and you should be fine. I'm perfect, So
we'll we'll be all right with that.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
Be sure to catch live editions of two pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
Fun fact, the longest playoff wind drought in the NFL
belongs to the Miami Dolphins. Brady quinns, Miami Dolphins.
Speaker 4 (30:36):
You got Fens to the lift, Fiens to.
Speaker 2 (30:39):
The rock, get els, two twenty ls everywhere. Yeah, twenty
four years since they last won a playoff game. It's
the longest in the NFL because the Lions won a
playoff game last year and so you know, a couple
of playoff games that is. And so the Miami Dolphins
looking for answers. Mike mc daniel apparently has the solution.
(31:02):
He is really embracing the twenty four aspect of the
drought for the Dolphins. And here's his strategy with the
team this year.
Speaker 8 (31:11):
We need to finish the season better. So you get
what you emphasize, Well, why not find ways to emphasize
finishing in everything you do?
Speaker 4 (31:20):
Obsess about it. Why not have for half the offseason.
Speaker 8 (31:25):
You know, you're trying to have staff meetings at different
times during the day, and I had every staff meeting
I put like at seven twenty four or three twenty
four or five twenty four, like the number twenty four.
Speaker 4 (31:38):
Okay, to you guys, it means nothing.
Speaker 8 (31:40):
That's how many years it's been since the organization's won
a playoff game.
Speaker 4 (31:43):
We are going to hear about that come playoff time.
Speaker 8 (31:45):
You think, to me, you do that to empower guys
to know what's coming, to understand it, to not run
from it. Because if you're going to achieve success where
people are predicting failure, you're gonna have to go above
and beyond.
Speaker 2 (31:59):
Does that have any thing to do with them having
to start a rookie third string quarterback two years ago
at Buffalo and them playing in an igloo last year
in Kansas City and losing that playoff game.
Speaker 5 (32:14):
It doesn't, But you have to understand what he's doing,
because I think the greater question all that is there's
a lot of new players, even on the team this year,
like every year, there's an influx of players coming in
who have not been a part of that history, who
have nothing to do with it.
Speaker 4 (32:29):
I mean, Mike McDaniel has.
Speaker 5 (32:31):
Nothing to do with that history outside of the last
couple of years you've mentioned, since he's been head coach.
But what he's trying to do is he's trying to
motivate and educate them.
Speaker 4 (32:43):
On the fact that this is what the fan base
has had to endure. So even though you weren't.
Speaker 5 (32:48):
Really a part of it, and I wasn't really a
part of it, we still have to be accountable and
deal with the fact that it has been twenty four
years since this city, since this fan base has had
to win. And that's what he's trying to I guess
callous them to in some degree create some motivation from that.
(33:08):
Like he's trying to do it in a unique way.
Speaker 4 (33:12):
I'll say this too.
Speaker 5 (33:12):
I mean, it'll definitely make you pay attention to when
you have to be on time for something, and it
will definitely make you pay attention to the history of
something when you start to learn a little bit more
about it.
Speaker 4 (33:24):
And I think that'll.
Speaker 5 (33:25):
Provide a little more to like the hunger of some
of the fans down there in South Florida.
Speaker 4 (33:30):
So that's how I see it.
Speaker 5 (33:32):
But I understand there's some people who think this is cheesy,
they think it doesn't matter, and honestly, when it comes
down to it, on the field, yeah, it doesn't matter
what time.
Speaker 4 (33:40):
You put your meetings at.
Speaker 5 (33:41):
That's not gonna change whether or not you convert a third down,
or you could figure out a way of scoring in
the red zone, or you get a stop when you
need to stop.
Speaker 4 (33:47):
I mean that they're not gonna be thinking about, oh,
twenty four years I like to be thinking about in
that moment. But it definitely does help prepare you for
what has been the longest drout in at least in
the NFL.
Speaker 2 (34:00):
Why would you want to make that the focus? Like
the worst part of it, you're making the focus. It's
like taking a bad moment in your life and being like, well,
I've got a tweet.
Speaker 4 (34:08):
Bad things people say about you. Why do you make
that the foot?
Speaker 2 (34:10):
Yeah, but I don't make it a focus to where
every in my everyday life I walk around and it's
got to be up on a wall somewhere, like, hey,
whatever we do, make sure everything starts twenty four after
you call for a reservation, you got any eight twenty
four's excuse me? Like it just it seems a little
bit weird, Like what you're just bathing in the misery
of a twenty four year drought.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
And you praise, you praise accomplishment, but you focus on failures.
And it's like I'm like that with my kids in
their report cards, like like, oh, you got three a's,
you know, two b's, a couple c's, and it's like, man,
(34:51):
this is you know, this is amazing, but uh, what's
going on with these c's? And part of that becomes
if you're building a culture and Mike McDaniel seems like
one of those type of guys. Did I get it right, McDaniel, okay?
Because I always mess up the whole last name thing.
(35:12):
He seems like the type that's very aware of like
kind of like information that can go a long way
outside of like the obvious information of stats and and
different things as it applies to the game. I think
he's he's looking at this and making those statements based
(35:32):
off of culture. And if you're trying to build a
culture where the expectation ultimately is raised and it becomes
a standard, then to me, he's doing the right thing
by pointing out, like, listen, we we as as current
(35:54):
players and coaches, have the opportunity to change this narrative,
and the only way we change this narrative is by
being aware of what the narrative is to begin with,
this is what people This is how people view the
Miami Dolphins. Now, whether that's true or not, it doesn't
matter if he can create it internally, like, look, these
guys don't win in the playoffs, and we have the
(36:18):
opportunity to be better, to be more and create not
just an expectation, but a standard for how we go
about our work. What it is that we want to
get accomplished, how far we want to go with what
it is that we're accomplishing. So while we'll look at
having good good times during a part of our regular season,
(36:39):
we look at the A grades and say, you know what,
we expect to get a's. If you put in the work,
you should expect to get great marks on your report card.
But those those those marks that aren't as good, those
moments where you look at and you say that's that
is definitely a part of what your resume is. You
want to change that and you want to make sure
(37:00):
that you're getting the same high marks in that category
in that column as you are in the other ones.
And I think that that's super if if you ask me,
I think that's super important. If you're a leader, if
you're in a leadership role, whether it's a GM, whether
it's an owner, whether it's a coach. I think if
you're in one of those positions where you facilitate that
(37:22):
way and you have that type of control that way
that you put certain things out there like that, because
then now you have the opportunity to start manifesting the
positive aspects of well. I mean, look at what Dan
Campbell has done in Detroit. I mean, he's Mike is
not as aggressive and in your face and like we'll
beat your kneecaps up type of approach, but in a
(37:46):
lot of ways he's training their minds the same way
Campbell's training their minds in Detroit, get them to believe.
If you can get a group to believe in what
the ultimate goal and what the ultimate purpose is, you
have a better opportunity and a better chance of achieving
those those things versus the the individuals that don't take
(38:09):
that approach.
Speaker 2 (38:10):
That's what I think. It's weird. It's like those people.
It's like the people who their dog dies and they
stuff them and leave them in the house, Like dude,
it's over all right, Like you can't you can't dwell
on the past. That it's happened. You learn the front
either get a new dog dog or don't get another
animal at all. But he's like he's stuffing his bulldog
(38:31):
and leaving it there and going it's just like the
real Like everybody, let's focus like this right there, reminder
every single dude. It has nothing to do what the
clock says with you having to play in those elements.
Last year and a couple of years before, they've struggled
down the stretch that I think is maybe more telling
to where it. And he made mention of it that
they're splits, like they've started off strong and then they've
(38:53):
you know, they finished losing three straight last year. The
year before the TUA was in and out with the
injuries and all that stuff. I just won Like, if
you're a player, does that do anything for you? Like
are you walking around having to see the reminder and
hear about it. Are you looking at it going Okay,
this feels a little bit goofy, like it just it
feels like this is a little bit weird that we're
doing this year. Also, is Miami more of a heat
(39:14):
town or a Dolphins town?
Speaker 4 (39:17):
I would say Dolphins when they're rolling.
Speaker 2 (39:20):
Like because how I don't know that maybe a lot
of people know, like is it discussed there, how long
it's been since they've won a playoff game, or it's
discussed locally.
Speaker 5 (39:29):
Yeah, I mean I don't know that it's made as
big of an emphasis on, you know, like there was.
Speaker 4 (39:36):
It's definitely discussed, It's definitely known.
Speaker 5 (39:38):
But I would venture to say it's more of a
Dolphins town than a Heat town.
Speaker 4 (39:46):
I don't know about how much.
Speaker 5 (39:48):
But also you have to remember, like there's you know,
there's a story history of the Dolphins. You know, the
seventy two Dolphins are the only teams to go undefeated
history of the NFL. So there's there's still that History's
there's still you know, many of the greats that have
been there, you know, Don Shula.
Speaker 4 (40:02):
It's just so there's still those elements of it.
Speaker 5 (40:06):
But it definitely feels like they're headed in a much
better direction though when you look at what Steven Ross,
their owner, has done, the way he's built this this
roster up, this team up.
Speaker 4 (40:17):
He has not been afraid to spend cash, spend money.
Speaker 5 (40:19):
That's why the two talking about Lowa contract situation's gonna
be interesting to watch, even Tyreek Hill, which as you
see all these wide receivers getting paid more money, there's
been a thought that he'll his contract will be restructured,
which is odd because didn't Tyreek Hill say a year
or so ago that he didn't want to play that
much longer. Yeah, he was going to retire, you know,
(40:41):
on the earlier side of things.
Speaker 2 (40:43):
Yeah, you're right.
Speaker 5 (40:43):
I mean it's hard though when you start seeing a
guy like Justin Jefferson, who Look, if you're going to
put someone else in the conversation the number one wide
receive in.
Speaker 4 (40:50):
The league, I think it would probably be Tyreek Hill
based on production.
Speaker 5 (40:54):
You know, maybe some people would say Devonte Adams, maybe
some people would say Jamar Chase when he's Joe Burr
is healthy, he's health that sort of thing.
Speaker 4 (41:01):
I'm not sure who else you want.
Speaker 5 (41:02):
To throw that that hat in the ring, but Tyreek
Hill's name's definitely up there.
Speaker 2 (41:07):
And also he's got what like thirty five kids now,
so like, you.
Speaker 4 (41:11):
Know, there's a lot of support needed.
Speaker 2 (41:14):
There's a very expensive that's an expensive habit, so you
know it feels like, you know, he's got to you
got to look out for the well being of everybody
else involved. So, and I didn't want to point this out.
Is LeVar going to be accountable at all for And
I don't want to. I think bullying is harsh. But
the fact that your impersonation of Mike McDaniel early in
(41:37):
his coaching career, you've completely changed the way he talks now,
like he's really.
Speaker 3 (41:41):
Definitely well, he's definitely more upbeat and more definitive in
the way he communicates.
Speaker 2 (41:49):
Do you think you had any part in that? No,
that maybe you might have, might have made him give
him him a look. Maybe not the way he talks now,
those days are God.
Speaker 3 (42:02):
Man, I mean, you're not going to hear them talk
like this anymore. Wait, I mean, come on, it's just
over there. It's over He's not going to talk like
this anymore.
Speaker 2 (42:16):
I just don't know. It's just done. God, So good listen,

We've got some over unders coming up here shortly. By
the way, Eddie, how long has the NHL been off
between conference?
Speaker 4 (42:56):
It'll be there.
Speaker 6 (42:57):
It'll be a week off until Saturday.
Speaker 4 (43:00):
One.
Speaker 2 (43:00):
You fan of that or know?
Speaker 9 (43:02):
Uh no, not really, but I know that they had
to plan for, you know, the series going seven? So
and then I guess it's the longest distance ever between
two Stanley Cup finalists.
Speaker 2 (43:12):
Is really Yeah?
Speaker 6 (43:14):
So I guess that plays into a little bit too.
Speaker 2 (43:16):
What's that flight like Edmonton to Florida?
Speaker 6 (43:19):
Uh, pretty pretty lengthy?
Speaker 2 (43:21):
Yeah, that's that didn't really.
Speaker 4 (43:23):
I mean the last thing is Eddie, who's broadcast in
the Stanley Cup?
Speaker 6 (43:26):
That would yes, that would be a ESPN.
Speaker 2 (43:28):
Oh so tn T got asked out of that too.
They couldn't get to I like TNT's coverage.
Speaker 4 (43:34):
Well, they threw them a bone.
Speaker 5 (43:35):
They gave them part of the college fotball playoff. They
just said, hey, we're gonna produce. It's gonna be our talent,
but you can put your name on it.
Speaker 2 (43:41):
Great, right, and I do. Do you prefer TNT's coverage
of the NHL over ESPN's Eddie or oh yes, absolute, yeah,
they do good job, well the great show. That's a shame.
