Speaker 4 (01:54):
On big time.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Hey, by the way, just come Cooper back from Chicago.
How was that Italian beef sandwich you thought was a
good idea to eat at ten in the morning?
Speaker 4 (02:05):
How was that while you're out in Chicago? Well, the
Italian beef sandwich is actually delicious.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
It doesn't sound bad. I don't.
Speaker 4 (02:13):
Yeah, it wasn't. I didn't have any problems with the
Italian beef.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
What made it Italian beef?
Speaker 4 (02:20):
The sign.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Because they put that they put that peppers, Yeah, the
peppers and.
Speaker 4 (02:31):
The beer doll or whatever it is. But it's no damn,
but but yeah, the deep dish.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
On the other hand, where'd you go to?
Speaker 4 (02:46):
I went to, uh Giordano, I told you, man, No,
I mean it was.
Speaker 5 (02:51):
It was delicious, fantastic, but my my body just can't
handle that much cheese.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
You got.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
You gotta take.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
Cheese very deep.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
My my wife's cousin and when we were in Chicago
had to take pills before he could eat these food
because he's got because if he did, he was gonna
have to throw out his socks.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
So yeah, there's that's what You'll have to let me
know what those chills are. Oh, was there that much
of a problem?
Speaker 3 (03:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (03:18):
Wow, All right, well listen, we are often running here
on a h a runny edition of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe. Here on Fox Sports Radio, it
is LeVar Rington, Jonas Knox with you here. No Brady Quinn,
I mean this guy loves the gas. Another ped violation.
That's what we're gonna go with today for Brady Quinn.
(03:38):
No true story though, uh the travel jinks continues here
on this show. The travel monster got the best of
Brady Quinn, so he will have all the details for
you on that coming up. Tomorrow when he was back
on the show. But it'll be sticks and I taking
you all the way up until nine am Eastern time,
six o'clock Pacific, and we're doing it all live from
the tire rack dot Com studios.
Speaker 4 (03:58):

We'll help you get that an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping,
free road hazard protection that over ten thousand recommended installers.
Tire rack dot com The way tire buying should be.
I had a little bit of a flashback last.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
Night and what was it to COVID? Oh, because there
was nothing on.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
I was looking around, going so is there like a
soccer get like there was five six baseball games on?
Speaker 4 (04:25):
You know which is you know, if you're a fan
of the teams, you can.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
Lead anything on like we were. I wasn't with you
during COVID. I was still doing TV. We ago. No,
we weren't together.
Speaker 4 (04:36):
No, I think like the tail like.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
A year later or something like that at the end. Yeah,
but you know what, there was so much there was
so much should I call it entertainment from COVID, I
mean COVID took over the world. Yeah, it's like, isn't
that It's got It's got to go down as one
of the most famous, more infamous moments in world history,
(05:02):
not just American world history.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Right, it's like we actually got to live a chapter
in American and yeah, in world history. To your point
that we're going to be able to tell people about
and be like that, you don't know what it was like, like.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
Bro in the twenty imagine the twenty twenties, they told
you you had to stay in your crib, and in
the twenty twenties you are not allowed out of your
crib unless you are and that what they say an essential.
Speaker 4 (05:34):
What what is an essential employee?
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Essential employee? And you had to have a card like
you like if you really like break it down and
like peel it back like you were basically like in
a prison camp almost like if you really think about it,
you get in trouble. If you're out, yeah, right, if
you don't have your card, you're in trouble. Yeah, crazy man.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
I was just looking around, going there's there's really not
a whole lot going on. It actually made me have
greater appreciation because I talked about this before that during
COVID the dak Prescott contract discussion really kind of carried
us through a lot of sports topics about it kind
of gave me a greater appreciation for Bronnie James and
at least he's provided some content for sports radio and
(06:24):
television for people to sink their teeth into.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
Such a great segue. You want to hear it, you
want to listen to it.
Speaker 4 (06:29):
What's the what's what do you want?
Speaker 3 (06:32):
What did he say? No, you're just saying has.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
Just you know, the saga has begun and you're having
to wear it from a lot of Bronnie James defenders,
which I know that you you've talked.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
About is what it is. I mean, you can be
a Bronnie James and a lebron apologist or a groupie
or whatever it is that you want to call it.
But calling a spade is calling a spade. And you know,
the thing about sports and athletics is it doesn't lie.
(07:04):
It doesn't lie. So regardless of like we're beyond the
point of whatever. If you want to debate and continue
to debate why he got drafted or does he belong
in the NBA from the draft standpoint, then you're late.
You're late on that, Like that's already been discussed, it's
already been debated. If you still trying to debate it,
(07:26):
then you're not you know, you're not progressive and you're thinking,
you're not in forward thinking mode. I think now the
bigger story continues to be can he can he prove?
Can he show that he can be an NBA player?
And what does that look like? You know, how is
(07:47):
that defined? Jonas? I mean some would say being on
a bench having the uniform on to begin with is
good enough because that percentage is so low. But is
that is that good enough when you're Lebron James's son. See,
there's blessings in there's curses. Right, You've gotten an opportunity,
(08:07):
and I don't think anyone will debate the fact that
you've got You've received a golden opportunity because you do
have athleticism, you do have basketball IQ and you bring
you bring a superior lineage and legacy to the sport.
(08:27):
That's what you that's what you have. But you also
got to look at it from the side of it
could also be a curse being the son of one
of the greatest basketball players to ever play the game.
And by the way, you're on the same team as
that guy, and and no one is going to skip
(08:50):
over that. So to all the apologists and all the
groupies and all the people who want to cancel anyone
who has something to say about the lebron James situation,
Like I mean, I've even seen pro athletes on social
media talking about if you're talking about Bronnie James and
you're not talking about him positively, you're just a hater.
(09:12):
You're a hater, and you're a dad. If you're a dad,
any dad and every dad would do what lebron James did.
I just don't agree with that.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
It's such a lazy approach to anything. Like if you
feel this way, that makes you this, it's well, no,
can you have a nuance discussion to where like, there's
layers to this whole thing.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
Which are there are many layers. There are many layers,
and in this situation, in particular, Jonas one of those
layers is he did get on the team because he
did get drafted because you said, he said, that's one
of the layers. And then now another layer that's connected
to it is can he legitimately prove to his teammates
(09:56):
and too, I don't know that it matters to the
organization so much much because they'll find ways. They can
find ways to get around it just to keep Lebron
James happy. But can he prove it to his teammates?
Can he prove it to his competitors to the field
that he's going to be if he's if he's put
(10:17):
into the situations where he plays, can he handle that?
Like that's what sports. Sports doesn't lie on that.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
Yeah, and he look, he got he had advantages heading
into this whole thing. Like I was, I was thinking
about a comparison from a broadcasting standpoint. When Joe buck
first got his opportunities to call World Series games and
do everything that he did at Fox and Beyond, a
lot of people looked at it and said, well, it's
because of his dad. I mean, he wouldn't get those
(10:43):
opportunities if it wasn't because of his dad. It's like, okay,
that's true. And now we get to see if he
can go and guess what, he's one of the greatest
ever do it. So he proved over the course of
time that yes, I had a foot in the door,
and I had maybe an easier entry into the whole thing,
but I had to prove myself once I got inside,
(11:03):
and I did it and now it's up to him
and Bronnie James, and it's up to them to figure
out whether or not he can prove it.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
And look at Jack Collinsworth, right, Yeah, I mean most
people would say, WTF where he came from? You know
what I mean? Like where he come from? Had you
heard of him? Did you know about.
Speaker 4 (11:23):
Him a little bit?
Speaker 1 (11:25):
Just because he'd gotten some opportunities. But again he had
gotten those opportunities because of his father and everything that
led to that. But then it's now, okay, can he
prove it? Can he do it himself?
Speaker 3 (11:39):
And he has Yeah, And so what it ultimately comes
down to is can you handle what comes your way?
Can you handle it? Because ultimately that's how you're going
to be judged in the end. All the people who
are apologist, all the people people who are you know,
(12:01):
calling anyone who has criticisms a hater, anyone who's out
there that has a staunch a harsh criticism, uh, a
very very maybe very colorful you know commentary on this.
It will all fade away. It will, it will all
(12:24):
fade away. Listen, the Mayweather family, they were they were
a family of really really talented boxers out of Detroit,
and you know what, money Floyd Mayweather, Floyd, pretty boy Floyd,
Floyd Floyd. He's okay, he's good. Oh he's he's a prodigy.
But is he like his dad? Can he be like
his uncle? Dah da, d this, that and the other. Yeah,
(12:45):
he ended up showing everybody that he was head and
shoulders a body above being better than the people who
brob And I love stories like that, I really do.
I really do.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
How about his uncle having nickname the Mexecutioner, He used
to come out in sombreros.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
Floyd did the same thing.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
So yeah, when he started bting the Mexican fighters, you
would you would come out in some.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
And you know what, and you learn from you learn
from those who come before you.
Speaker 4 (13:20):
By the way, can I ask you a question?
Speaker 1 (13:22):
You mentioned something earlier, and I'm because I don't know
how this stuff works. I don't know what's offensive now
and what's not. The term groupie is that offensive? Because
I feel like that's kind of.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
Daring, is it? I don't know, I don't know. I mean,
I think the term groupie is is considered to be
in some scenarios disparaging and and a lot of a
lot of situations disparaging, you know. But but groupie, A
groupie is just someone who groups to something. Yeah, right,
(13:57):
Like you might you might group two bankers, You might
group two radio hosts. You might you might group two
people that have mullets. You know what I mean. You
might you might group two people who speak Spanish. Whatever
it may be that that makes you a groupie. Now
we're talking. But now, but are you a malicious groupie
(14:20):
or are you just grouping? You don't have to be
you know, the term turned into a derogatory term, but
it really doesn't happen. I've met plenty of amazing groupies
in my life, I'll tell you what. And some of
them I just you know, I just I just feel
like I have an affinity for them forever. Just amazing people. Yeah,
(14:41):
how to treat you as a person, know how to
keep you lifted up when you're down. Pause.
Speaker 4 (14:48):
But you know what I mean, Yeah, I hear you. Yeah,
I mean it makes all the sense in the world.
Speaker 3 (14:52):
Yeah, And who cares if they they're only your friend
or only met you, or were only interested in you
to begin with because you were a football player. Like,
I mean, I don't judge that. I'm not judging you
for being, you know, a person that's attracted to or
you know, wanting to conversate and hang out with someone
(15:14):
that plays a particular sport.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
I mean there's a lot of people who hang out
at airports or Super Bowl media row and they want,
you know, autographs to sign. Yeah, they want you, they
want you to sign stuff and all the street.
Speaker 3 (15:26):
Yeah, you know, you see these bankers and you see
these these investors and these these private fund people and
they're coming out and they you know, it's the media
there take people that kill people like village and and
and criminals. They have groupies. I mean, did you see
the night Stalker? Did you like people were throwing their
(15:47):
their undergarbs at the dude. They were like they were
light up, down down the hallway, down the stairs, down
the street. Like the man is at handcuffs. You don't
know he was.
Speaker 4 (15:58):
Killing pig there's yeah. Yeah, by the way, you know,
there's that piece.
Speaker 1 (16:01):
You can't change him, just so you know, like if
that's that's what the goal is. Yeah, I mean, listen,
there's a there's a fan for for everybody. I mean,
like you know, truck drivers, what do they call him?
They call him lot lizards. Is that what they call him?
Speaker 3 (16:14):
Like that what they call there? You go run with it.
I mean the world needs groupies. Would this world be
if you did not have group.
Speaker 4 (16:26):
Listen, I'm with you. You know there's a my.
Speaker 3 (16:29):
Son, my Chrisha. We went out to eat yesterday Maria's
shouts out to Maria's Mexican restaurant. Maria and we were
eating and we were talking about groupies yesterday. You know,
had a great conversation. It's coincidental that you would have
asked me this. We had a great conversation about groupies. Yeah,
you know, it does not have to be a derogatory time,
(16:49):
jonas well.
Speaker 4 (16:50):
Listen, if you are one, this is a safe place
for you. That's right and Eastern times.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
If you're a groupie of two pros and a cup
of Joe, God bless you. Yeah, I commend it. In fact,
I support you being a groupie. H show.
Speaker 4 (17:06):
That's a great point.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
There you go, by the way, we are going to
take you as mentioned over the next three hours here

(17:28):
from the ti rac dot com studios, we are going
to talk about how one player in the NFL has
let it be known. He has let it be known.
Do not even think about asking the question, But we'll
discuss it next here on FSR.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 4 (17:57):
Holly Foods Go here with Tony Foodsco.
Speaker 2 (17:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (18:00):
Everybody knows we're the hosts of the award winning poly
Antoni Foosco shop.
Speaker 3 (18:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (18:03):
But instead of us telling you how great we are,
here's how Dan Patrick described us when he came on
our show.
Speaker 4 (18:09):
Quick, knowledgeable and funny, opinionated.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
What you doing interrupting our promo?
Speaker 2 (18:15):
Yeah, he wasn't talking about you. You took those clips
totally of context.
Speaker 6 (18:19):
Oh yeah, Well, after this promo, I'm gonna take you
out and beat you.
Speaker 4 (18:23):
Let me put this into context.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
Shut up.
Speaker 6 (18:26):
Yeah, anyway, just listen to the Polly Antoni Fousco Show
on iHeartRadio, Apple podcasts wherever you get your podcasts.
Speaker 4 (18:32):
Yeah, what's wrong, Lee? What are you outraged by? Isn't
that what he said in the lyrics.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
Don't come around my place no more, don't come around
my face.
Speaker 5 (18:45):
Well, first of all, American Woman is about Vietnam War.
Speaker 3 (18:49):
Oh, I was just keeping the American military. I was
just kind of keeping it literally.
Speaker 4 (18:54):
Govar, and I'm just the words.
Speaker 5 (18:58):
And then I'm still on this band aids versus groupie thing.
I wanted to chime in and say, band aids from
the famous movie Almost Famous, Cam and Crow Kate Hudson.
Speaker 4 (19:10):
Groupie.
Speaker 5 (19:11):
Groupie is you know, somebody has joins a band and
has relations just purely for the fact that they're famous people.
Same with sports figures and whatnot. But if you're a
band aid, that means you really respect the art, you
respect the team, you respect.
Speaker 4 (19:24):
Oh kiss my ass. Enough's enough, all right.
Speaker 3 (19:28):
Groups are goods. Come on, they're good for you.
Speaker 4 (19:34):
A band aid is what you put on a cut
on your hand, on a body part.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
It helps to protect, Okay.
Speaker 4 (19:40):
A band aid is not somebody who chases around some
rock star, because.
Speaker 3 (19:45):
Well, technically, if you're aiding the band, then you would
technically be a band.
Speaker 4 (19:54):
Eight all right, what are you aiding them with?
Speaker 3 (19:56):
I mean whatever their needs would be, I mean have needs. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
That by the way, you want to know the big
difference between I will say this, so we uh we
were on by the way, two pros and a cup
of Joe here Fox Sports Radio, LeVar Arrington, Jonas Knox
with you. We were filling in for the Herd yesterday,
and there are two huge differences between this time slot
(20:26):
and that time slot.
Speaker 4 (20:27):
Number one.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
Number one, the street lights are not on right when
we're filling in on the Herd.
Speaker 4 (20:33):
In fact, there is.
Speaker 3 (20:34):
It's real light, the.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
Sun is out, there's traffic everywhere there are There just
happened to be a roach the size of a Volvo.
Speaker 4 (20:43):
That was sitting on the wall while we were doing
the show.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
He was strong, that was that was he was so strong.
Now he just didn't even move for the entire time, like, look,
there's too many people in here. This has been my
crib for so long. It was, you know, I'm just
not going to move until until all these people I
think you.
Speaker 4 (21:01):
Took cur Us out after the show. He was he
was long man, he was he was the mo he
was the the muy Thai fighter in the Cockroach family
like dolls them off Street Fighter.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
Yeah, that was that was definitely him. But he was
hanging out, so that was one of the other. The
other difference is you would not see Boogie Knights on
the TV like you would during this time slot because
we were in full go early on Boogie Knights where
they're dancing and she still got her rollerblades on.
Speaker 4 (21:33):
So so that is the couple of key differences between.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
One, we wouldn't have Boogie Knights, well, Boogie Nights probably
wouldn't be on at the time that we're doing the hurt,
so that's really all the only reason why.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
Yeah, So it's it's just interesting, you know, the different
choices and things that you see from one time slot
to the next, even though it's just a day apart
or less than a day apart, uh to be more specific.
Speaker 4 (21:58):
But nonetheless is what it is.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
Two pros and a cup of Joe Here on Fox
Sports Radio, LeVar Arrington, Jonas Knox with you coming up
in about twenty minutes from now from the ti raq
dot com Studios. Maybe the greatest of all time. Not happy,
not happy whatsoever. He expressed that. And we will have
that discussion for you again coming up in another edition
of In case you missed it, about twenty minutes from now.
(22:22):
So I don't know if you knew this or not,
but the Dallas Cowboys got some drama. No, yeah, believe
it or not. The Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (22:29):
As would playing the Hits.
Speaker 4 (22:32):
Huh yeah.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
I mean, listen, you gotta go with what you go with.
But whatever you do, do not even think about asking
cdee Lamb about his contract situation, because he announced on
social media he will not be answering any of those
questions from the media at his youth football camps that
it'll be hosting this week. So if you had any
(22:54):
plans and you remember the media, don't even think.
Speaker 4 (22:57):
About it now. Somebody will.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
Of course, somebody's gonna try and figure out a creative
way to try and get one of those questions in.
But according to ceedee Lamb will not be addressing it whatsoever.
And I think it's pretty simple. What does he need
to address until they give him the contract he wants.
He's not shown up to camp so we look like
we might be on the verge of another Ezekiel Elliott
(23:20):
two point zero where he took off and went to
Mango Deck or whatever that place is that you rave
about and CD lamb I rave at.
Speaker 4 (23:27):
Yeah, I mean, listen, all I'm gonna.
Speaker 3 (23:30):
Say is is that we had this conversation earlier in
the show moments ago about groupies and what they represent.
And all I'm gonna say is is Mango Deck has groupies.
Speaker 4 (23:42):
Does it?
Speaker 3 (23:43):
And you know what? Rightfully? So they have very very
loyal supporters and followers and people who go there and
partake in Mango Deck.
Speaker 4 (23:56):
Let me look a Mango Deck and can you describe
for people that have ever been.
Speaker 3 (23:59):
The beach bar. That's all it is. It's a beach bar.
And I want to say, is it in Cancu, Cabo Cabo.
It's in Cabo Cabo. That's right, that haven't been to
so many of them. Yeah, it's in Cabo Yep, yep.
Speaker 4 (24:16):
I mean that's yep.
Speaker 3 (24:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (24:17):
I see what you're saying, a.
Speaker 3 (24:18):
Lot of entertainment, you know, music, you know, they have
like little uh competitions, they got like a deck on
the beach. They there's competitions, dance competitions, you know, drinking
shots competitions, you know, other competitions. I mean there's just
comp there's comp.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
I'm not saying that there's any correlation here, but I
think there was a big difference in Ezekiel Elliott as
a player before and after Mango Deck. I mean, he
got the contract was better after Mango Deck. But I
would argue that maybe the play could started.
Speaker 3 (24:56):
Might have got ahold of it or the mangoes. You
gotta be careful when dealing with mangoes and a deck
at the same time. That's what I'll say, Uh great,
because you could get caught up by the way I
had mango over the weekend before.
Speaker 4 (25:11):
Did you tootic?
Speaker 3 (25:12):
Did you use some to hen?
Speaker 4 (25:14):
No, I might listen to you know, my wife obviously. Yeah,
they put to heen on everything.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
Oh they put out on everything.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
Oh they'll brush their teeth with ten you know, yeah,
they it's on everything. I just go old school, Just
go some some mango, you know, cut it up. It's
got to be it's got to be a little crunchy.
So not totally right because then it's too soggy, but
like a little bit crunchy, and it's a it's a
good way to go.
Speaker 3 (25:39):
See. I like it a little bit softer. I like
it soft. I like it to feel like mango a
good and mango is real sweet. And then when it
touches your your into your mouth, it that's just just
it just really really like just agrees with your taste buds.
(25:59):
If it's the right type of mango. If it's the
wrong type of mango, it's kind of rubbery. It's it's
it's not very juicy, it doesn't feel like it's melting
in your mouth. It's just not it's not a great experience.
Speaker 4 (26:14):
I'm with you know, all right, great call, all right,
So what.
Speaker 3 (26:17):
Does this have to do with CD?
Speaker 1 (26:19):
So the point is maybe Zeke Elliott tells him, Hey, man,
if you want to get the contract you want from Jerry,
you just got to go to Mango Deck and then
you'll get paid.
Speaker 4 (26:27):
That's what I did a few years ago.
Speaker 3 (26:29):
But that didn't work out the right way for Ezekiel Elliott.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
Well, I mean yeah, performance wise that but he did
get a you know, a pretty sign contract. I just
I look at the Cowboys situation and we kind of
laid out last week. You know our favorite storylines heading
into all this because it's every single three or four
days the Cowboys have something pop up to where it
could be something just on the periphery, whether it's you know, MALIEK.
(26:56):
Cooker and Micah Parsons who you know all of a sudden, MALIEK.
Cookers got a problem with his podcast.
Speaker 3 (27:01):
I wonder if they've pashed that out yet.
Speaker 4 (27:04):
Let's just wait till Oxnard, Just wait till, wait till
you get to training camp.
Speaker 3 (27:08):
But don't know, but let's be let's be real here
for a moment. Let's be real here for a moment.
Don't you feel like as adults like the moment he
did that interview and said those things, I would assume
if he didn't immediately realize that he probably shouldn't have
(27:32):
said that. At some point he realized he probably shouldn't
have aired that one out and went to Micah. And
for what it's worth, just knowing how Micah is, because
Micah is not one to he doesn't duck a situation.
Just knowing how competitive he is and knowing how he
(27:54):
is and how he's been raised, shots out the big
parts and Mama Bear Bear them. Parsons don't play around.
They don't play around. So if there was some conflict,
uh there was, I would assume that there has already
been contact made where they they talked it out.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
Do you think that Mike McCarthy has reached out to
Jerry Jones? You had to let him know, like, Hey,
whatever that report was that came out from Tyler Dunn,
don't worry about it. I'm not annoyed or or frustrated
by your involvement with the organization.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
I will say this, I've met Mike McCarthy. He's a
Pittsburgh guy, Wespa guy. I know who he is. He
was the coach of the Green Bay Packers when I
went and visited the Green Bay Packers. Was he really Yeah,
well he was. That's how That's the only way I've
met him.
Speaker 4 (28:50):
And he seems like a good dude.
Speaker 3 (28:52):
He's a good dude. I mean, he seemed like a
good dude. That was just off of the time I
got to spin with him that.
Speaker 1 (28:57):
That was part of the reason, not to interrupt that
people thought that he got was given another year there
is because the players love him, Like the players in
the Cowboys locker room could not be happier with Mike McCarthy.
It's just, you know, the playoff performances that have been
a little bit disappointing, you know, which I don't know
how much is on him, But do you think Mike
(29:20):
McCarthy reached out to Jerry Jones and said, hey, listen,
don't pay no mind to any of that stuff that
came out.
Speaker 3 (29:25):
You know, I'll say this, I will say this, Mike
McCarthy is under tremendous stress and scrutiny. But then when
you take a step back and you think about it,
does it even scrape the surface of how much stress
(29:47):
and scrutiny that Jerry Jones has on him? Think about that,
like for two seconds, if you really stop and think
about it, because I don't know that we really ever
stopped to think about it. He might be the one
outside of Robert Well you call him Orchids, Robbie, Robert Orchids.
Speaker 4 (30:08):
Oh, Robert Craft, Bobby Orchids.
Speaker 3 (30:10):
Bobby Orchids, Yeah, Bobby Orchids. Outside of Bobby Orchids. Is
there is there a more Well, it's not even I
don't know that it's even close. Is there more talked
about owner than Jerry Jones? Is there a more covered
owner than Jerry Jones, a more public owner than Jerry Jones.
Speaker 4 (30:33):
Now he puts himself out there.
Speaker 3 (30:35):
So whether it's self inflicted or not, that man has
a ton of scrutiny and a ton of pressure on
him because he sells a product. He is one hell
of a marketer, one hell of a salesperson. But when
(30:56):
you market and you sell and you build a brand strong,
wrong is the Cowboys brand the way that he's he's
done it. There's a lot that comes with that. And
you got to keep in mind they were good before
Jerry Jones bought that team. It was a history storied
(31:18):
franchise before Jerry Jones took it over. Yeah, they just
took it to a whole another level.
Speaker 1 (31:24):
They were America's team before he bought it. I mean
Tom Landry's final years obviously it was disappointing, but yeah,
before that, they were I mean, what was the old
they would say about Texas Stadium, Like they would keep
the roof open just so God could have.
Speaker 4 (31:40):
A watch the game or something like that.
Speaker 1 (31:43):
Because but that was they had that mystique and they
had that that aura and reputation well before he got there.
And then he took it, globalized it, like they became
you know what they are now and why they've got
you know, as many fans as they do and also
as many people that that root against them as they do,
(32:04):
because they are it's one way or the other, like
you're not indifferent to the Cowboys, and that was the
goal of Jerry Jones. I just think that going into
this season, and you know, I'm listening, I think Hard
Knocks has finished.
Speaker 4 (32:19):
I think it's done.
Speaker 1 (32:20):
Like I think we've we've it's run its course, I
said last week, Like it's like they're trying to They've
got an animal who died and they've they're still trying
to keep it in the house as if it's hard
a family, Like at some point, you know, the bugs
are flying around, the maggots are going to show up,
and you've got to move on. And I think we're
at that point with Hard Knocks. But if you wanted
(32:40):
to feature the most interesting and entertaining team going into
this season.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
And and listen, that's I mean, that's that's manufact the.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
Whole thing could implode. Your three best players need contracts
and they don't haven't done yet.
Speaker 3 (32:58):
It's like, okay, I mean I think they will do
somebody's and obviously if ceedee Lamb doesn't want to come back.
See I'm wondering right now because it's like everybody saying, oh,
Jerry Jones is pushing all of his chips to the
middle of the table, like y'all perform and then I'll
(33:19):
pay you if you don't perform, then I'm blowing it up,
like you know. If that's if that is the real
thought process of Jerry Jones and what they're planning on
doing this year with Dallas, I would personally say this,
If I'm talking from a business standpoint and an ownership standpoint, great,
(33:42):
it's a great decision. They still have time on their contract.
Now you're gonna pay more money. You're gonna have to
pay more than what you're gonna pay now. As you
go further into it, you're gonna have to pay more.
But if you're saying, I have contracts in play and
there's still time on those contracts, and I want to
(34:06):
see more from this team than what I've seen thus
far before I give out an award another major contract,
especially with the quarterback. I want to see what we
do this year. If you really take a moment and
you stop and think about it, is that is that
(34:26):
a horrible decision? Joe, No, Okay, it's not. Actually seems
kind of sensible, to be honest, it does.
Speaker 1 (34:35):
But like I would assume that you do want to
keep at least Michael Parson's long term and or CD
Lamb and Dak Prescott, and if you do, you know,
I mean probably would behoove you to get a deal
done now is supposed to when the price is go
up up.
Speaker 3 (34:50):
If you can't get any further than where you've gotten
at this point, and you've done it with multi coaches,
not getting further at this point, at some point you
got to take a good, heart long look as to
why you're getting the same results with different people. That's
(35:14):
what Listen, I always reference. That's what happened in DC.
At some point, you're going to run out a great
legendary coach just the hire to see if they can
fix the team. At some point, you're going to run
out of free agents and draft picks to hire to
see if you could turn it around and make it
into what you want it to be. At some point
you got to take a long, hard look at what
(35:36):
is the common denominator and why this is not working,
and then you got to make a decision from there.
And if you're making a decision from there, do you
just start over? Like I'm just start over. I'm hire
a GM, let him build the team, and I'm going
to step back and I'm going to trust that this
(35:59):
GM is going to hire a coach that we really
really like, like a Dan Campbell, like what happened in Detroit,
like in Houston. I mean, it can happen. It can happen.
You just you know, at some point you just got
to get out of your own way.
