Speaker 1 (00:00):
Two Pros and a Cup of Joe. Fox Sports Radio.
Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you here. Coming up on
this Thursday edition, we got to talk about Big Ten
media days. Brady Quinn is there? What the hell was
that from Deshaun Foster. We're also going to find out
how confident Lincoln Riley is heading into the season and
what the entire conference could look like. You know, Jim
Harbaugh is not there anymore, but it doesn't stop him
(00:21):
from being in mid season form. You'll hear from the
new Chargers coach. We're also going to talk about Aaron
Rodgers and the play that went sideways for him in
a hurry back in twenty twenty three, Albert Breer's going
to stop by. We've got another edition of Headliner Lie
and we close up shop with you in and you out.
It's all yours coming up next here, Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe on a Thursday, Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio, so you activate your
hips there, Braden?
Speaker 3 (00:59):
Is that a.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
So get you started? It is two pros.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
Geez, Eddie disappointing, just disappointed.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Nobody's more outraged than Eddie. It's two pros and a
cup of Joe. Fox Sports Radio, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox
with you here. No, LeVar Arrington suspended for peds the
heavy usage getting ready for the season, and he will
not be on the show. By the way, he did
send a video to a video to us late last night,
(01:33):
stuck at an airport an hour and a half late
from whatever their departure time was. So the travel woes
on this show continue here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
So I don't tell you what, man, it has been.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
It's been such a hassle lately trying to fly with
everything that's transpired from that crowd strike, whatever happened to
I don't know if you believe in the fact that
of what they say happened or the conspiracy theories, but somehow,
I mean, weeks later, you're still getting all these flights
that are impacted from that.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
I mean, even people who are at Big ten media.
Speaker 4 (02:12):
Days here in Indianapolis have talked about how their flights
have been impacted by that.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
It's like, dude, it's like a week or week or
so ago.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
I looked at someone the other disk and yeah, it's
kind of like remember during COVID it all it's the
supply chain.
Speaker 3 (02:25):
It's the supply chain.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
Like no one can order a couch because somehow, someway
it fell off one of those gigantic tankers in the ocean.
You get a photo and saying, oh, your couch was
in there. Like now that's what every single persons saying
with their flight. They're saying, oh, it's the crowd strike.
It's like, dude, that was an excuse. I was like
a week ago, and somehow it's still playing an effect
(02:47):
on everyone's travel out there.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
I love the go to excuses from companies. That's my
favorite part. Like Lee sent me over some link about it,
because remember we talked briefly about just how you get
to certain places, and they'll say, oh, you know, can't
make you that it's broken. Yeah, I don't know what
it is. You know, we had a shortage. Like they'll
just come up with some excuse apparently. Like one of
the big ones is McDonald's, Like their mcflurry machine is
(03:10):
always broken. Like it's always a bunch of crap, and
there's always some backstory that never makes sense, and it
generally is because somebody's lazy and just doesn't want to
do it. But yeah, those are the good old days
of covid man. You ordered something, you just never got it.
And nowadays apparently when you go to have a flight
and you go to get there on time, it just
doesn't depart on time, and it sucks and it just
(03:31):
seems like it's never going to get better. Which is
why we always talk about road trips on this show.
And let me tell you something. No better way to
go on a road trip then unless you've got some
tire rack tires all right, and we're doing this show
here live from the ti rack dot com studios ti
rack dot com. We'll help you get there an unmatched selection,
fast free shipping, free road has a protection and over
(03:51):
ten thousand recommended installers. Ti rack dot com the way
tire buying should be. So, as you mentioned, Brady, you
are on are at Indianapolis for Big Ten media days,
and I feel like a lot of people have made
an impression on the Big Ten. You know, maybe no
one so much as Deshaun Foster. Maybe not anybody that's
(04:14):
done it as well as he's done it. But were
you in the room when he made his opening statement
two members of the media, or did you just catch
whim of it and what was the discussion there boots
on the ground in Indy.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
So I was not in the room when he made
the statement.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
However, I did catch wind of it and it was
drawn to my attention when I actually saw him and
his group later on, and it looked like they were
having a hard time navigating through the halls there in
Indianapolis under Lucas Oil Stadium. So maybe that was somewhat
of an indication as to lack of preparation for this event,
(04:56):
the lack of preparation for an opening statement, as it
looked as if he was just speaking off the cuff.
I mean, I think if you're someone who, which he
admitted this later on, doesn't like speaking in public, like
maybe have someone write one down for you, you know, maybe
have someone write a few sentences that you're going to
read off for your opening statement.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
Instead of having that happen.
Speaker 4 (05:18):
So either way, it was it sent a message as
everyone's curious what's going to happen with four new teams
coming from the West Coast into the Big Ten and
UCLA seems to be a bit of an afterthought, given
you know, how everything that's transpired in the off season.
I mean, Schip Kelly leaving as their head coach as
(05:38):
a head coach to go become an offensive coordinator at
Ohio State. There's a lot of people who feel like
it gives you a bit of an indication as to
how it seemed like Ohio State operates, or Michigan or
Penn State as compared to a school like UCLA, and
it makes you concerned about UCLA's ability to remain competitive
(05:58):
within this conference.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
So here was the opening statement from Deshaun Foster, And
if you are a fan of awkward exchanges, this is
right up there near the top of the list.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
Hi, guys, doing.
Speaker 5 (06:15):
I'm happy to be here, glad to be a part
of this great conference, finally putting two great emblems together,
UCLA and a Big Ten. We're a school that's won
what one hundred and twenty three championships, so this fits
us being right in this conference.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
Football wise, which is excited.
Speaker 5 (06:41):
You know, I'm sure you guys don't know too much
about UCLA but our football program, but we're in LA,
It's us in usc We I'm just basically excited. Really,
(07:11):
That's it. Main questions.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Into second, All right, Yeah, it was tough, I'll put
it this way. It was the one thing you didn't
want to do.
Speaker 4 (07:26):
If it was if you're a first time head coach,
your school's first time being in a conference, this is
your moment to really get a sense for, oh, what's
the direction of this program? And especially after as I
mentioned Chip Kelly leaving to become an offensive coordinator instead
of a head coach somewhere else, it did not send
the right message to what I would deem to be
the best, you know, biggest, most wealthy conference in college football.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
So I've got a couple of different bailouts for Deshaun
Foster here.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
I want to try surprise.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
Okay, so listen, because I want to try and defend him.
I'm gonna throw a couple of different options at you,
and you let me know what you think of either
of these and whether or not either of these dogs
hunt on this excuse for Deshaun Foster with whatever the
hell that was yesterday, Big ten media days, all right?
Option number one, Listen, he's uh, he just froze up.
(08:20):
It happens. I don't know if you recall the first
time you ever had to speak in public. I can
call the first time I ever had to do a
hit live for a radio station out here in southern
California and completely crap myself. It was terrible. It was
an abomination. I can't believe they even asked me back.
It was just awful, God awful, can't even put it
(08:41):
into words. Embarrassing, all of that. It was right up
there with Deshaun Foster. It was live on the air. Terrible.
Do you buy any of that as an excuse for
what happened yesterday?
Speaker 3 (08:54):
No?
Speaker 4 (08:54):
I think you can't freeze. You know, that is something
that's real. I think when I've done public speaking before,
when I've kind of lost my train of thought, or
you've gone off done a separate you know, maybe not tangent,
and you've lost where you want to get back to.
But that comes down to preparation. That comes down to
either the practice behind it, or having an opportunity to
(09:17):
then go back, look at a note or look at
what you've written down to get back on track.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
So even a moment where something like that.
Speaker 4 (09:23):
Has happened, and that's happened to me, like I've still
been at least able to look back at something and say,
oh okay, let me get back to this. He had nothing.
I mean looking up there. He was woefully prepared. There
was there wasn't like a backup plan in the case
this happens. And what to go back to the other
point is, he said openly afterwards, it's like, I'm not
(09:46):
really a big talker. Okay, you knew this date was coming,
you knew you had to make an opening statement. If
you're not a big talker, have some sort of statement
written out there for you. I almost look at their
sid and the people behind the scenes that are part
of his staff to blame as much, if not more
than him, because if that is indeed why he's hired
(10:08):
to be the football coach and recruit and all that
good stuff, well then that's your job to help prepare
for something he's not good at. Instead of loving him
walk up there with nothing. So I don't buy that excuse.
Okay to me, that to me screamed of just being unprepared.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
All right, here's option too. He's not used to seeing
that many people in the media days. All right, he
comes from the PAC two All right, nobody goes to
those events. Nobody gives a rip about the PAC twelve,
so much so that they've dissolved into two teams left
that are going to be battling it out for some
conference title game that's probably gonna happen at a Chuck
e Cheese somewhere because it's like nobody gives a rip
(10:49):
about anything going on in the PAC twelve or two
or whatever you want to call it. He gets up
there and he goes, Hold on a second. I'm used
to playing small coffee shop gigs. Next thing you know,
I'm playing a full arena. I'm not accustomed to this.
This is bizarre. What the hell am I doing here?
And maybe that led to some of the uncomfortable moments.
(11:09):
Are you buying that at all?
Speaker 4 (11:11):
That's more believable, okay, And it's more believable for this reason.
I've been to the old Pack twelve media days back,
even at its height, when you would get, you know,
the best gift probably from any media day conference event.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
I mean, that was the one thing.
Speaker 4 (11:27):
You left the Pack twelve with a nice dinner and
a really nice gift. But to your point, it wasn't
even close to the same as far as the feel
for the amount of media and the attention. They're just
to paint the picture. Lucas Oil Stadium, You're down on
the field, they have a just gigantic backdrop, and out
in front of you are I would guess, hundreds of
(11:49):
people who are sitting there at tables in front of you,
waiting to ask questions, waiting to kind of take notes
and write stories based on every little thing you say.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
It's a very very different feeling to it.
Speaker 4 (12:02):
And there's a radio row that's back beyond that where
the players go through, the coaches go through, so the
entire field is filled with media folks, and then you
go back through this kind of gauntlet or maze of
rooms where you know Fox is there, CBS is there,
NBC is there, ESPN is there, and they've all got
(12:22):
their their various rooms where they're doing something.
Speaker 3 (12:24):
The big ten network is there. It's it's a it's
a bunch of.
Speaker 4 (12:27):
Different commitments for the day, and they knocked out content
with you your players. So it could be a gauntlet
to go through, but that that can feel a bit daunting.
So that's more believable from at least my experience being
in the PAC twelve media days, that definitely didn't feels
as legit as this.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
Oh man, by the way, what was the gift? I've
heard you and Petro's talk about it, like what would
they give you a PAC twelve media days you get
a nice dinner and then.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
Like an iPad.
Speaker 4 (12:54):
Really they used to have the Yes, they used to
have like some sweet gifts. But you kind of knew
the PAT twelve was maybe taking a step back as
things dwindled afrough the years.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
Also, you went from iPad to like iPod, like two.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
Years, like an iPod.
Speaker 4 (13:10):
You go from like an iPad to like a neck
pillow for traveling.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
Oh it's sweet, and let me take you something. You
go to one of those Hudson News things in the airport.
Those are like twenty five bucks, So that's not bad. Yeah,
I mean I would.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
Say consider the standard this said. I wasn't looking for
to that.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
Also, I'll put I'd like to say this neck pillows
used to be a fan of them. They just don't
work anymore for me. They don't. I don't fall asleep
with them. It doesn't happen Like I get on the
airplane and I'm like I could fall asleep right then
and there, and neck pillow just feels too obstructive. That's
usually good. I sit.
Speaker 3 (13:44):
You're not really one to give an opinion. You fly
like twice a year.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
Hold on a second. But but I've flown before, and
I've purchased neck pillows, so I know the difference between
a quality neck pillow and up to us like frequent flyers.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
Then somebody who's done it once before, they're life and
now all of a sudden, you're an expert opinion.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
What do you mean I got, I got like a
rewards count with the Southwest. I think I think it's
lying around somewhere.
Speaker 4 (14:08):
You probably do, based on your trips to Chicago to
go trace back your your ancestry there and watch the
Cubs lose.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
Just get to get to Midway and then figure it
out from there. You know, the dicey Dragon, exact.
Speaker 3 (14:20):
Same thing last time I went through Chicago.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
Yeah, By the way, do you prefer Midway over o'
hair a little easier?
Speaker 3 (14:27):
It's a tough question because mid Midway has less options.
Speaker 4 (14:31):
Basically, you know, you're flying Southwest, You're going to Midway
and is easier. But there's something about O'Hair that's kind
of nostalgic to me. You know, you've got the scene
from you know, uh, Home.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
Alone, so that that always kind of feeds into my
memory of like, hey, this is where they were running
through the airport. Yeah, there's also yeah the flags. It's
just I don't know something about it.
Speaker 4 (14:52):
And I've had some some fantastic weather delays there that
have cost me to be stuck there and actually had
some good times.
Speaker 1 (14:58):
Yeah, it's a it's a fun on time at O'Hare
or Midway. So I can't recommend it enough.
Speaker 4 (15:04):
We should bring up this one point. I mean, what
happened with this Deshaun Foster that didn't impact anything for
the upcoming season?
Speaker 3 (15:10):
Did it?
Speaker 1 (15:11):
The fact that somebody and you found this and Brad
Power's former Fox Sports radio host, great guy loves college
football and follows it religiously. The fact that people saw
that opening press conference and said, do you know what,
that's enough to fade UCLA against Hawaii week one is
(15:32):
astonishing to me. The fact that the line moved off
week one just that's how bad that press conference was
and that meeting with the media was that the line
moved week one against Hawaii?
Speaker 4 (15:47):
What the half a point? Half a point immediately after?
So there what a thirteen point favorite?
Speaker 3 (15:54):
I think I saw? Yeah, and now it's dropped to
twelve and a.
Speaker 4 (15:57):
Half, maybe even lower now depending on the aftermath. But
it's funny though, even though we're making a joke of it,
it does lend to the thought of, well, if he
can't speak well in front of a group like that
for an opening statement to kick this thing off, how
is he in front of the team, Like, what's he
gonna be like before their first game. He's just not
(16:18):
gonna say much. I mean, I'm not saying you're gonna
win the game with a pregame speech in the locker room,
but there is an element of leadership that comes along
with that and firing the team up. You know, maybe
that's just not his thing, and maybe he delegates that
to someone else, but it does exude this kind of well,
he wasn't prepared. If he's not prepared for this, what
do you think it's gonna look like once they get
(16:40):
on the field.
Speaker 1 (16:41):
I mean, I would say, also bad not to get
in the weeds on you know how teams are gonna
look early in the season. But do you feel better
about a team going into their Week two facing a
team starting the season with their Week one, like basically
a team that's already had a game to play. Do
you feel better about how they're going to go into
(17:02):
the game as opposed from a rough standpoint, because Hawaii
is going to be already have a game under their belt.
They're opening up with Delaware State, and so a week
later they're going to get UCLA. They've already got a game.
And now you're seeing the coach melt down in front
of you know, forty five people in Big Ten media days, Like,
maybe there is something to that, So maybe people factor
(17:24):
that into the whole line and why that line moved
a little bit, just saying if you want to.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
Get in a week, Yeah, no, there's something to that.
Like I said this with a few other coaches.
Speaker 4 (17:35):
You go through the schedules for some of these teams,
I mean Southern Calf for example, I believe they I
think they open with LSU. I mean, it's just it's
a rough road. Like in college football, there's no pregame
versus a preseason. Well, you're not playing these two or
three preseason games whatever it's going to be in the
NFL one day to get you a sense of maybe
(17:55):
where you're at, or have an idea with some of
your some of your teams and operations. Things in that nature,
Like especially if you have a tough Week one matchup,
you go right into it, and you know coaches in
college football talking about that all the time. There was
a reason why for a lot of teams that are
in conferences, they play three kind of cupcakes usually to
give them a sense of where they're at by the
(18:16):
time they get to the conference conference games Week four
and all. That's changed as TV networks have one and
ten broadcast better non conference games, bigger non conference games
during the the beginning of the season, and that's played
a factor in all of it. So I think you're
onto something there. I mean, Hawaii is gonna have one
under their belt. And if you're a betting man.
Speaker 3 (18:37):
I would take the I would I take the twelve
and a half points.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
Oh, you like it, liking those boys, But I will
say this, LSU opens the season. Are you surprised that
they're only a six point favorite against USC? I know
it's in Vegas, so it's at a neutral site, but
only a six point favorite against USC with what seemingly
feels like a daunting task this year for the Trojans.
Speaker 4 (19:00):
No, both teams have questions, and I think there's a
lot of questions around how improved it Southern cal defense
can be coming off what has been two dismal years,
and I'm sure we'll get into Lincoln Rilly, who, Look,
this is the most open I've ever seen Lincoln Riley
in regards to a lot of things, which I'm sure
there'll be different opinions about that, but they went to
(19:22):
address the defense. They've done that again through the transfer
portal and with their coaching staff, so they feel like
they're a much better spot. I think Miller Moss is
a quarterback who from the one game starting sample size
played incredible in the Holiday Bowl. Now that wasn't necessarily
the same Louisville team that we saw during the season,
who mightily fell off, but still nonetheless a huge performance.
(19:45):
So you know, if they keep that offensive momentum, improve
on defense, you know, USC could be a team that
competes and and LSU's got a new quarterback and Garret
nuss Meyer, he's replacing Jade Daniels, and there's some questions
there that obviously have lost some players to the NFL.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
So's it should be a close matchup. I think that's
a fair line for a Week one matchup with so
many on notes.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
Man right around the corner a month away. We're gonna
get fully loaded college football Labor Day weekend. I can't wait.
It is Two Pros and a Cup of Joe here

You'll hear from them next here on FSR.
Speaker 6 (20:53):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn LeVar Errington and

Speaker 7 (21:07):
Hey, we're Covino and Rich Fox Sports Radio every day

never have enough time to get to everything we want
to get to and that's why we have a brand
new podcast called over Promised. You see, we're having so
much fun in our two hour show. We never get
to everything, honestly, because this guy will be over promising
(21:27):
things we never have time for. Yeah, you blubber list
lame and me. Well, you know what it's called over promise.
You should be good at it because you've been over
promising women for years. Well, it's a Cavino and Rich
after show, and we want you to be a part
of it. We're gonna be talking sports, of course, but
we're also gonna talk life and relationships. And if Rich
and I are arguing about something or we didn't have
enough time, it will continue on our after show called
(21:47):
over Promised. Well, if you don't get enough Covino and Rich,
make sure you check out over Promised and also Uncensored
by the way, So maybe we'll go at it even
a little harder. It's gonna be the best after show
podcast of all time.
Speaker 8 (21:58):
There you go, over promise it. Remember you could see
on YouTube, but definitely join us. Listen over Promised with
Cadino and Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or
wherever you get your podcasts.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
Two Pros and a cup of Joe Fox Sports Radio,
Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you here. Thinks this is
a rough song? Is this Billy Idols the era music?
Speaker 3 (22:20):
Yeah? I really could have just pushed right through.
Speaker 1 (22:23):
Yeah, but Billy Idol's got some bangers. This ain't one
of them.
Speaker 3 (22:26):
This is not one of them.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
Yeah, Like, there's nothing edgy about it. There might be
something edgie coming up. And in case you missed it,
about twenty minutes from now, we're going to tell you
about how it could be the end of the road,
the end of the road for one of the great
things that we've had in the world of sports for decades.
That'll be yours here again twenty minutes from now here
on FSR. I got a bone to pick. So the
(22:49):
opening ceremonies for the Olympics are tomorrow, correct Friday. That's
from the brigs. All right, so why are their events
already going? Like I thought that was so of the
opening of Hey, this is this is the Olympics, Like
they just had a handball game, a women's handball game
involving a gola, and the Netherlands had just ended. What
(23:11):
are we doing there?
Speaker 4 (23:11):
That's because twofold one the Olympics are respectful of livebed
Jesus and they'd like to pray provide some content for
livebed Jesus to bet on if he wants to partake
in our show. That's the first thing, Okay. The second
is because it's women's handball.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
I mean, what's what's wrong with women's handball?
Speaker 4 (23:32):
I mean, you can't women's handble, It's just it traditionally
starts before the opening ceremonies, like they're like volleyball, for example,
women's volleyball, the USA scrimmage Brazil, I believe yesterday or
maybe the day before. Getting my days mixed up at
this point, but that you know, they're already starting women's volleyball.
Speaker 3 (23:50):
At this point, it was only a scrimmage, but they'll
be starting here soon.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
So you're saying, like women's handball is like the week
zero of college football, but like, is that sort of
the compier mind.
Speaker 4 (24:01):
I'm not sure exactly where ranks on the Summer Olympics,
but there's probably not as much coverage of women's handball.
That being said, there's still an opportunity for live bet
Jesus to show up on our show and actually make
a bet, considering the fact that he hasn't shown up
in weeks months.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
Look what, I don't want to speak for him. I'll
just say this, it's a little tough. Well, no, it's
just a little tough trying to find a schedule that
that's accurate because I'm seeing that there's some soccer games
coming up and I'm not quite sure about those either.
It just, you know, feels a little bit sort of
they feel like it's not the most organized thing in
(24:40):
the world. I'll just put it that way. And so
I'm not going to sit here and put him through,
you know, the have him be subject to the criticism
and ridicule that he gets whenever he makes a bad pick,
just because he can't get the schedule straight. Because the
people who are putting the Olympics together and trying to
stream it NBC Peacock et cetera. Can't figure out which
event they want to put on. They announce the opening ceremonies,
(25:03):
but yet women's handball is so far down on the
list that it's going to be seen at three o'clock
in the morning Pacific time, a day before the actual
opening ceremonies. It doesn't make any sense to me, I'll
be honest with you.
Speaker 3 (25:14):
It's a little weird, but it does seem a little
bit backwards. But yeah, there's a lot of stuff going
on over there.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
Yeah, it's why do you have somebody over there, you know,
or something that's got got intel on what's happening. How
is Lisha over there?
Speaker 3 (25:29):
By the way, she's doing great. She's doing great.
Speaker 4 (25:31):
She's not even really where a lot of that's at
because just to I guess, pull back the curtains. There's
two alternates. The alternates don't train at the same space
that the girls gymnastics team that is going to be
competing is training right now, So the week leading up
to what is considered qualifications, the women are training at
(25:55):
the actual place.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
Where they will be performing.
Speaker 4 (25:58):
The two alternates for whatever reason, like this doesn't make
any sense to me either, they train some I don't know,
forty minutes out of town, and in the event that
someone gets injured in training, they would then select one
of those two to go and join the team to
then compete.
Speaker 3 (26:17):
But until then they stay remote and train elsewhere.
Speaker 4 (26:20):
So I'm not sure that's that's for an effort to
not have them, you know, party and be around the
festivities because they might not be you know, I might
not be making it or whatever the reason is.
Speaker 3 (26:32):
But that's how it works.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
Well, listen, we will keep you posted if we got
any other live events that are currently underway, maybe live
that Jesus will make it appearance. Who knows, Maybe Lee
shall call in. You don't get have her call in
all the way from Paris.
Speaker 3 (26:44):
What is it like?
Speaker 1 (26:45):
Yeah, probably next Tuesday over there or something like that
with the time change. But nonetheless, we'll keep you six hours.
But whatever, we'll keep you. We'll keep you up to
speed on how that all works. And now they're showing
the US versus Parent versus France and a occer game.
This appears to be something that's on delay. Like the
whole day, the whole coverage doesn't make any sense. That's
(27:06):
that's the larger point here. Here's what does make sense
and it's ti Iraq because Fox Sports Radios teamed up
with tirack dot com to give away a set of
four brand new tires valued it up to fifteen hundred
dollars every two weeks this summer. That's right, three lucky
listeners will receive a set of four new tires plus
installation taxes and fees valued it up to fifteen hundred dollars.
It's the summer of ti Rack Sweepstakes. Enter daily at

way tire buying should be So Aaron Rodgers, this is
(27:48):
your favorite story to cover all off season. Aaron Rodgers
is whereabouts? He was in Egypt. It was unexcused. He
is going to get fine, you know him and Robert
Salaz spoke about it yesterday. Everything fine. They're just focused
on the season, et cetera, et cetera. But he did
go on to discuss sort of what happened last year
in suffering the injury, and apparently this is in a
(28:11):
book called Out of the Darkness, the Mystery of Aaron Rodgers,
which I got to tell you, very appropriate for everything
that is going on. Also feels like that would be
the title of a book that Lee would be in.
If we're going to be clear on that and just
go ahead and call.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
It, I think be into the Darkness hopefully very true.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
That is very true. But Rogers kind of detailed what
happened in suffering the injury and the way that he
lays it out where he identifies what the safety was doing,
then he looks around, he sees, you know, the receiver
that's supposed to do one thing. He just sort of maps.
(28:55):
You just sort of come to understand in reading the
quotes and hearing what he had to say that a
lot went into that play other than just whatever he's
old and his achilles snapped. And it just goes to
show you, at any moment when you're relying on that
many different factors to try and have a successful play
with your body on the line, snap of your fingers
(29:17):
and your career could be in Jeopardy, and it's kind
of crazy to see how he relay that and discussed
just sort of everything that went into it and the
problem with the play and what ultimately ended up being
a four play season for him and the New York
Jets going into the drain shortly thereafter.
Speaker 4 (29:35):
That's the hardest part about playing quarterback is you are
judged based on your ability or your decision making ability
in under three seconds.
Speaker 3 (29:46):
That's what you're tasked with.
Speaker 4 (29:48):
I mean, yes, there's some things you can do pre
snap to help you with understanding what the defense is
trying to do, give you a better sense of where
the ball should go after the snap of foot, you know,
after the snap of the football, But largely that's what
you're doing. You are confirming what you saw before the snap,
or you're changing you know, your mind as to how
(30:09):
this is going to work out, and you're reacting to that.
And oftentimes it's complicated and it's fast, and you could
make a decision. You could probably make a better decision,
you know, at times it's the best decision you could make.
But the hardest part is that's how you're judged. And
I think the biggest hurdle for a lot of guys
(30:29):
is they have to get over this mental hurdle of
always looking back. Like you hear the phrase out of
short term memory. What's hard to do that because after
every game, the first thing you want to do is
go watch the film.
Speaker 3 (30:42):
You know, you want to look at every little thing,
even if it was a completion, a touchdown.
Speaker 4 (30:46):
You look at a ball place man, maybe as my
footwork was off, maybe it was a little late there.
Speaker 3 (30:50):
You're trying to sure up those things. If you went
to a spot.
Speaker 4 (30:54):
Where you got a completion, but hey, maybe I could
have gotten this. You're looking at those fine tunes things
to try to keep getting better and better and better.
Speaker 3 (31:03):
And so it is one of the most.
Speaker 4 (31:05):
Difficult I guess jobs because ultimately you're never going to
be satisfied. Like, no one's ever really played a perfect game.
There's been times you've been perfect, close to perfect, but
even in anyone's best game, it's never been perfect. There's
always something that you can do a little bit better.
And when you're a quarterback, when you're somebody who makes
(31:27):
to the NFL, plays the NFL Future Hall of Family,
like Aaron Rodgers, you're going to go back and look
at things and even second guess that because obviously it's
taken the organization, it's taken Rogers down this crazy winding.
Speaker 3 (31:40):
Road to where we are now.
Speaker 4 (31:42):
But again, all that's in the past, you know, I
think he's learned from it, right, He kind of admits
in this he's actually just taking great Wilson Gara. Wilson
was open, you should have thrown to him. He was
kind of thinking, waiting for something else. And it goes
to show you, man, like, there's a lot of guys
who have been successful, played for a long time without
getting hurt, who just take the open guy, take the profit.
Speaker 3 (32:04):
You know, you don't go broke taking a profit.
Speaker 4 (32:07):
And there's a lot of you know, quarterbacks who've played
that way been able to play very very successfully.
Speaker 1 (32:11):
Yeah, it's just hearing and on top of all, like
one of the things that freaks me out that I
could never come to terms with just a I don't
have the ability to flat out, but just the the
idea that you, with your eyes downfield, can stand there
straight leg off the front leg and throw a pass
(32:33):
with the possibility every single play that somebody's going to
roll into your knee and just fold your leg in
half the wrong way and your career is over, like
Joe Burrow. Like that's one of the things with Joe
Burrow that a lot of people don't bring up that
injury he suffered his rookie year, which was a play
just like that that could happen all the time in
the NFL. And the fact that you have to keep
(32:53):
your eye on the receiver downfield and say, listen, I've
got to make this throw knowing something horribly wrong could
go right now to either my lower half or my
upper half of my body. That's the part that I
look at and go one of the more impressive things
because you literally stand down the barrel of sanctioned violence
(33:14):
every single play and you're still required to make a throw,
make a decision, and if it doesn't go wrong with
all of that happening to your point, you're just going
to get buried by people in the media who don't
know a fraction of what you know or what was
actually supposed to happen on that play. So full respect
to you guys, you know, just want to let you
know that, well, not everybody's I just hope.
Speaker 4 (33:34):
We get the version of the Jets where we get
to see Aaron Rodgers actually play for the entire day
of the season. Yes, And I know you and I
probably fit more bullish on what they could potentially do
in that division than LeVar. So it's a little added
to it as well, just the fact that we have
a little bit of a disagreement and we'll see at
the end of the season what things look like.
Speaker 1 (33:54):
Well, because my biggest thing with the Jets is we
know this about them the last couple of years. They're competitive,
like there's talent, Like there is a lot to like there.
It's always just been the quarterback issue. If he's just healthy,
that's a major upgrade to the one big issue that
they've had over the past couple of years. Like it's
(34:15):
not like they're a three win team. They are competitive,
like they're competitive in a lot of these games. Robert
saw that can coach his ass off when it comes
to the defense, and the defense has played well. Reeves
Hall's talented, they've got wide receivers, they've upgraded the offensive line.
All it is is Rogers staying healthy. And that's why
I think they're going to be a playoff team. And
(34:35):
Rogers made the point like there's eight to twelve teams
that can win the Super Bowl every year, maybe less
we're one of those eight to twelve teams. I think
he's right, Like, I know, we haven't seen it and
that's a long shot, and Mahomes is still in the AFC.
But I just I think there's a lot to like
there outside of just the fact that well it's the
Jets and the organization is usually a disaster. Like they
(34:56):
haven't been a disaster. There's just a lot of drama
because there's been a a lot of coverage that's come
along with Rogers being there. So I still like, yeah,
I do too.
Speaker 3 (35:06):
I don't think disaster is the right word for it.
Speaker 4 (35:07):
I think there has been some dysfunction at times, and
there's been some things that you some some poor decisions
that haven't worked out for them. But if you look
at the components of their team, they can play great defense,
they can run the football, if they have competent at quarterback,
play that that compete, that competes that that goes on
the road, that plays three clement weather. They have all
those components. But they do need to stay healthy. This
(35:29):
is not a roster that's built up to a stand
A bunch of injuries, and that's that's plagued them to
a degree in the past, obviously with Rogers' injuries, but
some others as well.
Speaker 1 (35:40):
It's a two Pros and a Cup of Joe here,
Fox Sports Radio coming up next here. It is the
end of the road for one of the great events,

sports or entertainment. Good thing, the guys are here to
bring you in case you missed.
Speaker 1 (36:51):
It, and for that we turn it over to our
executive producer.
Speaker 3 (36:54):
Lee Lap.
Speaker 9 (36:56):
Good morning everybody, Good morning Jonas, Good morning Brady. In
case you missed this, Hey in the far NBA, The
NBA has released details on its new television.
Speaker 3 (37:11):
Show US That's Unbelievable.
Speaker 9 (37:13):
Yeah, good morning everybody. NBA has agreed and released details
on it's a new deal with excuse me, with the
Walt Disney Company, NBC Universal, and Amazon that they agreed
to on Wednesday, eleven year deal worth seventy six billion dollars,
which almost triples their current deal in terms of television revenue.
(37:37):
But in response, uh TNT Sports has responded with that
the fact that they have matched that Amazon offer and
as we have a contractual right to do so, do
not believe the NBA can reject it and we will
take appropriate action.
Speaker 1 (37:53):
I mean, what appropriate this is? Can they take?
Speaker 3 (37:57):
Well?
Speaker 7 (37:57):
This is?
Speaker 3 (37:58):
This is probably for another segment.
Speaker 4 (37:59):
I mean, it's too long of a subject to slam
in or cram in here in a couple of minutes.
Speaker 3 (38:05):
But I'll just I'll quickly say this, I don't know
that this is over.
Speaker 4 (38:10):
It's it's odd that they're already announcing details to this
because based on what I read, it does appear that
there's a right that TNT or Warner Brothers Discovery has
in all this.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
I mean, I wonder if part of it is the
ability to stream. Can they match the streaming audience that
Amazon can? And maybe that's the part where the matching
comes into it, like contractually, like the finances from a
money standpoint, they've done it, but can they match the
number of people that will get to see the product?
(38:43):
And maybe that's that, Maybe that's the bigger point, but
it just it feels like those things again nasty.
Speaker 3 (38:50):
This is for another segment. I'm surprisedly went with this.
Speaker 1 (38:53):
I mean, yeah, why did you go with this?
Speaker 2 (38:55):
Lee?
Speaker 1 (38:55):
That's wrong with you?
Speaker 3 (38:56):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (38:56):
Bad choice? But me, Yeah, I can't believe he did that. Yeah,
not like I didn't put this in.
Speaker 4 (39:01):
Actually, are we talking about this in another segment?
Speaker 1 (39:05):
We could, certainly could.
Speaker 3 (39:07):
I mean, based on the run that I got, we're
talking about at four. Well, you know it's been you
didn't even have delivery Wednesday, yesterday.
Speaker 1 (39:15):
That's true. I did not delivery Thursday. Let's go. Yeah,
let's get a start a new Deliver's Wolverine. Let's do it,
of course,
