AFC who looks like they're heading for a terrible season.

Two Pros and a Cup of Joe on a Thursday,
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Give this you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
My ideas, may I think we got to go back
to Sanford in sunmer.
Speaker 4 (01:08):
Something else, not this something.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
I already have the next one in the chamber. Well
put the fire. Yeah, this is fired.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
That actually scares me to to think about what what's nice?
Speaker 1 (01:20):
I mean, if you guys are going to dismiss this
Latin song? No, I like it.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
I got another one. I like it to go. I
like it just all my spare time.
Speaker 4 (01:31):
I gotta be honest.
Speaker 5 (01:32):
It feels better probably around like five pm, not five am.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
You know, well, for you, it's it's three am here.
Speaker 5 (01:42):
It's well, no, I just I get that. I'm just
singing in general. Closer to five pm.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
It definitely ain't working right. But then again, if we
were in a different setting at three am, you know,
generally we're well, we were in Vegas, we're walking down WI.
There's still party.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Man. If they we were playing this song through the speakers, yeah,
we would have been good.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
More of a crowd maybe than the one that was
Uh I went over to you ar.
Speaker 5 (02:09):
That was the most depressing part about super Bowl was
it was our next day.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
It was everyone's last night.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
They're still going.
Speaker 4 (02:16):
Yeah, yeah, they're still going going, aren't they.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
It was over in that little area dancing were walking in.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Do the radio like when we walk through Vegas this
past year to do the Super Bowl, and you just
see down and outers on the Penny Slope.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
They were gambling.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
You're like, well, you know, this is a nice little nightcap,
and it's like, well, we're starting our day.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
That's that's what we're doing.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Uh, you know, in in an empty convention center for
the most part, just trying to do the last ten
minutes of the show. That then people start to circulate in.
You know, a couple a couple of shows were in
there with us.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
And they circulated in and they saw us doing the
show live from the tire Rack doc Hosy video. They
were to get there at unmatched selection, fast free shipping,
free road has a protection and over ten thousand recommended
installers tire rack dot com the way tire buying should be.
The Denver Broncos have made a decision. All right, this
is only the second time in the history of the
(03:15):
franchise that a rookie will be the starter week one
at quarterback for the team.
Speaker 4 (03:22):
Who is the other time?
Speaker 1 (03:23):
John Elway? That's right, John Elway about it? So now
step right up, bow Knicks.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
Who's a great name to be named to starter. By
the way, Oh yeah, bo Nicks kind of like Knox,
you know. Yeah, it's a lot there. Yeah, pretty sweet.
You made sense of it. Yeah, that's good. That's right, good, right,
Like they could have gone a different way, but you
were named.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
A starter, you know, Fox Sports Radio. That is true.
And so bow Nicks will be the guy there in Denver,
and he's looked great, and considering the options and considering
where Sean Ayton's in his career, why the hell not
Brady Quinn, why the hell not run the rookie out
there to go throw that thing around?
Speaker 4 (04:06):
Well, hasn't he looked ready?
Speaker 5 (04:08):
Since everything we've seen in preseason and I'm sure throughout
training camp, all the reports, everything else, that's why they
drafted him. Look, he's twenty four, he'll be twenty five
approximately around Super Bowl of this year. He's got sixty
one starts or had sixty one starts in his college career,
more than anyone. So from that standpoint, he is as
(04:29):
ready as you could possibly be. And if Sean Payton
was looking to start over and do that with a
guy who's NFL ready, who's mature, I mean, I don't
know if you guys had the chance to ever sit
down and talk to him. But he is from that
standpoint as far as there's no distractions, there's nothing else
off the field, he's a coach's son, like just he
(04:51):
checks all those boxes. You completely get why people will
rave about him and why he has been able to
seize this opportunity in Denver thus far.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
So it makes complete sense. Miley.
Speaker 5 (05:04):
Question is you know he's looked great thus far, and
Sean Payn's a good play caller, he'll he'll put him
in a position to succeed. But how's he going to
handle when defenses start to game plan for him?
Speaker 4 (05:17):
You know, one of the things.
Speaker 5 (05:18):
That I've noticed in breaking him down is he's a
rhythm passer.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
He likes to play fast. He likes to get the
ball out.
Speaker 5 (05:26):
He likes to push the ball downfield when it's there,
and when it's not. He kind of relies on his
legs sometimes to you know, get outside the pocket to
see something or run. And can he be patient within
the pocket? Can he move in and play within the pocket?
Those are all questions that I'm curious to see how
he'll handle that once teams start actually game planning him.
(05:49):
And guys like LeVar are trying to literally take his
head off.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
Yeah, I'm excited for him.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
I think isn't he married or somewhat he's married, right, yeah,
I mean he's got four kids.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
Really, I don't think that's true.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
Probably not.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
Well, he used to he used to babysit the coach,
the head coach. Who's the head coach Oregon?
Speaker 1 (06:08):
Again? Why is it slipping?
Speaker 4 (06:12):
Landing?
Speaker 1 (06:12):
Landing? It was landing, he used he used to. He
used to babysities.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
Kids on the weekends or something like that, like that's
how much the coach trusted and bo Nicks then just
trusting with his team, he trusted him with his kids.
Just everything I've ever heard about him, I've I've not
met him. I've seen him play, I saw him play
in the Pac twelve championship, but I never never met him. Yeah, right,
(06:39):
But but all things I hear about him, he's a
super mature guy, student of the game, and and really
wants to continue to be a stat fast improving football players.
So people have raved about him for quite some time.
(07:00):
It's interesting that he would end up being at the
at the number in terms of the amount of quarterbacks
that came out in this draft where he where he
fell in terms of his ranking or when when he
went into draft.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
I thought it was a lot of lip service.
Speaker 3 (07:19):
I gotta be honest, like I did think it was
a lot more lip service to hype him from Sean
Payton rather than it being real substance connected to the
words that he was saying. But I mean, I'm I
think I'm a believer in in bo Nicks. I think
I'm like kind of shifting to the idea that he
(07:41):
actually can be one of the top top quarterbacks from
from this draft class. I mean, there are gonna be
guys that don't live up to the hype of being
a first round draft pick quarterback. Maybe there's the possibility
that there's this one, you know, like there were there
had been classes where all the quarterbacks were really solid
(08:04):
guys out of that draft class. Just generally doesn't happen
very often. But if I were to take a pick
on what guys I think are going to be successful
at at that that first round draft pick selection spot,
I think bo Nicks is one of the names that
I would put in the hat. I think he's going
(08:25):
to have a good year just just based off of
what I've seen in the in a few plays that
he's played, he does show a level of maturity and
a level of understanding that for a rookie, you have
confidence and believing that when when those game plans do
come his way, he'll know when to, you know, say, Okay,
(08:46):
here's where the blitz is coming from, or all they're
rolling coverage down to to this side and it looks
like as though they're trying to take this receiver out
in coverage and and and playing zone or playing manning
up on this of it, whatever it may be. Knowing
his right checks, getting a feel for like you was saying,
getting those rhythmic type of throws that he's able to do.
(09:09):
I think that he has the understanding of it and
that I think is going to play in his favor.
I still think Jaydon Daniels, not because I'm biased that
he's a Washington commander, but I think Jaydon Daniels is
going to be pretty special. And I'm, like I said,
if I'm putting my money on a rookie of the Year,
(09:29):
I think I'm putting it on him.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
And I you know, I.
Speaker 3 (09:34):
Think Caleb Williams is Caleb Williams. I think he's going
to be a special quarterback as well. So I think
it'll be an interesting time for the National Football League
as it applies to young quarterbacks. This year could be
that draft class that actually becomes so good that they're
all household names and they're marquee players for you know,
(09:57):
the NFL and for games moving forward.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
I ask you, guys a question, why, Like, help me
out with this? Absolutely not okay, well, just help me
out with this. When I watch him, okay, he does
remind me a little bit of Drew Brees. Now, I
want to ask you, is that because he's Brees?
Speaker 4 (10:19):
Is because I don't see the comparison.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
And that's that's why I was asking, Because is that
more just because he's playing for Sean Payton and he's white? Like,
is that maybe more?
Speaker 4 (10:29):
Why?
Speaker 1 (10:29):
Why?
Speaker 4 (10:31):
That's one explanation for you.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
Then I'm open to all explanations.
Speaker 5 (10:36):
To Var's point, I think the way he, you know, escapes,
scrambles outside the pocket, I don't see him look out
the bottom of his helmet.
Speaker 4 (10:43):
There's that difference to what I'm.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
That is fair, which, by the way, is what you
do when you're dressed as Chucky at Chuck E Cheese.
You got to look through the mouth, so you got
to look all the way through the bottom as opposed
to through the eyes. They don't have any holes.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
Never knew that you never thought about it, but.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
Never knew that there are you going learn something new?
Speaker 5 (11:02):
Yeah, I wouldn't say he's I wouldn't say he reminded
me of Drew Brees from college. I mean Brees played
so much more from the pocket, and not saying that
bow Knicks can't. It's just when I go back and
watch the film with like, the ball comes out relatively quick.
Speaker 4 (11:21):
It's it's usually a screen, it's usually a shot.
Speaker 5 (11:24):
It's usually something that's pretty quick to get it out
of his hand downfield, there's not a lot of dropping
back and going one, two, three and check down that
kind of thing. And then there's nothing wrong with that.
A lot of offenses are like that in college. But
the NFL will test you in that way of understanding
how to get from you know, one to two, two
(11:45):
to three, three to four. Sometimes you know you're mixing
one and going to two and mixing three and going
to four pretty quick. And so that's that's every quarterback's progression.
There's gonna be a learning curve there. But for him
he's so good this this preseason, this training camp, you
just kind of wonder, Okay, like how does that what
(12:06):
does that learning curve look like? Like?
Speaker 4 (12:08):
How does that process continue there in Denver?
Speaker 5 (12:11):
Because if we're being honest with ourselves, I mean, what's
the win loss total.
Speaker 4 (12:15):
For this team this year? Is it six and a half?
Some of that ballpark?
Speaker 5 (12:20):
I mean, there's not high expectations for this team, and
so you know, for their future. I think he's the
guy obviously, but you know where this ultimately leads to
three four years down the road. That's where I'm most
curious because you talk about a guy like Jade Daniels,
you look at someone like Kitler Williams. I think there's
a lot of room for them to continue to keep
(12:41):
improving and improving and building up those franchises. You know,
bo Nix kind of comes in the most NFL ready
but also and the highest floor.
Speaker 4 (12:50):
But you know, he kind of is what he is
at this point in time.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
Five and a half win total goes you know, you
guys noticed that they've been going back to under this
center a.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
Little bit more.
Speaker 4 (13:01):
Yeah, helps with the run.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
Why do you think is that what it is?
Speaker 4 (13:05):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (13:05):
I think it does a number of things. I mean
to me, I know, it helps out the running game.
It helps with angles, helps with the backs getting more downhill.
That's part of it. I think when you have a
quarterback like bo Knicks who can move, it makes the
bootleg game that much that much more impactful and effective.
If you're in shotgun, it's really hard to really kind
of attack edges or or threaten to me at least
(13:27):
the defense with the running attack as well as with
the quarterback on bootlegs and move the pocket passes.
Speaker 4 (13:33):
So I would much.
Speaker 5 (13:34):
Rather have a quarterback who's okay turning his back to
the defense, which is tough to do.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
I mean, that went away from it, like football went
away from it for for quite some time. Well it's
been blown. Has been interesting watching them go under center.
I'm like, way, and I'm watching another game. It's like
they're under center, Like they're not in a pistol or
shotgun set anymore. They're they're lining up under center like
you guys are finger tapped again.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
You know.
Speaker 5 (14:02):
Yeah, And I think it eliminates too, usually on boots
Usually on plays like that, you're eliminating a lot of
you know, half field reads, full field reads. It's more
of like a pure progression, so you're saying it's a
it's one, two, three, four five. That is the simplest
way of teaching a passing game to any young quarterback.
(14:23):
You know, Tom Brady's talked about this at length, how
the game's been dumbed down a bit for the rookie quarterbacks.
There's a lot of elements of truth to that in
the sense you're you're just trying to get guys in there,
plug them in and see what they can do, see
if they can play, but you're not really allowing them
to go through this entire arsenal of understanding.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
Hey, we have our pure progression reads.
Speaker 5 (14:42):
We have our half field reads that's gonna be based
or dictated on coverage. We have coverage reads, we have
what's called you know, big alerts, and then we have
a progression on the other side, meaning if we like
it and we can guarantee a completion to that big alert,
we're gonna take it. If not, we're working in progression
somewhere else. Within all those categories, there's our of different
nuances they go to that, and you used to learn
(15:03):
a lot about defenses, like not everyone plays cover three
the same. You know, depending on how they play the seams.
You know, it's going to look different, it's going to
play out different depending on how you attack cover.
Speaker 4 (15:14):
Three with four verticals.
Speaker 5 (15:16):
So those are just different things that you would learn
throughout the course of your rookie year. You know how
defenses play leverage, you know how they go about attacking.
What type of you know, blitzing defense are there, They're
more zone or more man. There's just a ton of
things that all these guys are still going to learn
and know, and you're prepared to some degree from college,
but it's just not as complex. And at the NFL level,
(15:37):
it is obviously the the you know, highest level of
being able to teach football one on one two quarterbacks.
And I think a guy like Sean Payton's old school,
when he's one of the best play callers in the
league is will prepare bow knicks for that, but also
is bringing back around that under center offense where you
do maybe have more of a sense of timing and rhythm,
(15:59):
which and you're in shotgun it it's hard to do
that because of the shotgun snap itself and because of
just how it got kind of mess up the timing
and rhythm of play sometimes.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
Sean Payton was on the Scoop City pod and was
talking about you know, them picking bo Nicks at twelve
and how it factored into the Raiders who were sitting
one spot ahead. Let's take a listen our concern.
Speaker 6 (16:21):
Right behind us were the Raiders, and I just then
it was like, call the Raiders, tell them we might
want to.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
Move back to see if yah. And so there was this.
Speaker 6 (16:30):
They didn't want to move up, and then there's that
you know minute you wait and then we'll stay put
and the Jets make their pick, and then here we are.
Speaker 4 (16:37):
What was the reaction like in the draft?
Speaker 3 (16:39):
So they were out the trash at first he's telling
me they duped them.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
Yeah, that's what it sounds.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
But it's a sad move though, you know, because think
about it.
Speaker 5 (16:52):
If you're that team, right, you're sitting behind Jonas calls
you and he's ahead of.
Speaker 4 (16:57):
You, and he like, wait, he's trying to move back.
Speaker 5 (17:00):
Well clearly not going quarterback here then, right, because that
that was right before when Minnesota jumped up to take McCarthy, right, yeah,
And so then you.
Speaker 4 (17:08):
Kind of look at how that played out and you're
like Oh okay, what a second.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
I think there's buyer's remorse taking McCart like one of
these guys who took a quarterback before bo Nicks.
Speaker 1 (17:18):
Well, I wonder because we talked about this a little
bit this week after Pennix was taken. Were the Raiders
out on a quarterback at that point because they wanted
Michael Pennox junior?
Speaker 3 (17:31):
Right?
Speaker 4 (17:31):
Like?
Speaker 1 (17:31):
That was who they thought was then? Yeah, the Raiders Raiders?
And so after he was gone, did the Raiders think,
all right, well, listen, McCarthy's left bow, Nix's left.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
I ended up with nothing, So I'm just trying to well, yeah,
but you know what I mean, quarterback would have been
the most ideal pick for the Raiders, and the Raiders
knew that.
Speaker 4 (17:53):
But they got brock Bowers. Baby, I mean, they do
two tight ends.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
Somebody got throwing the ball.
Speaker 4 (17:59):
How about them apples?
Speaker 3 (18:00):
You know, the Pride and low hanging apples, right and Apple?
I'm not mad at it.
Speaker 4 (18:06):
I like it. I like it.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
Yeah, Okay, it's all weird, man, I never been Yeah,
I liked apples.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
Why y'all like low hanging apples? Apples? Yeah? You ever
had Snapple? Had when's the last time you had it.
It's been a long time.
Speaker 4 (18:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
Remember the thing used to pop when you opened it
as you knew it was fresh.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
Yeah, good moved all right, Well there, that'll clear up everything.
By the way, for the record, bo Nix does open
up at Seattle week one, and then they host uh
Russell Wilson and the Steelers week two, so that'll be fun,
fun little home opener for Russ and company. Alright, com

would be singing to someone, you know, Todd.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
Maybe to Raina. We don't see Todd right now. That
could be a problem.
Speaker 3 (20:31):
Here he comes, he's coming back. All right, This is
a wretched song.
Speaker 4 (20:35):
Oh that's such a lie. Man?
Speaker 1 (20:37):
What is this crap raina. What is this song? For
people on the podcast?
Speaker 4 (20:41):
You don't what? Honestly, if I was in studio, i'd
give you a swirly.
Speaker 5 (20:44):
Right now, I am fully admitting to this for that comment.
Speaker 4 (20:49):
I would bully you just for how bad that comment was.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
What is the song? Who is this?
Speaker 4 (20:55):
Chicago?
Speaker 1 (20:55):
Chicago Baby?
Speaker 4 (20:57):
Come on man?
Speaker 1 (20:57):
If you leave me now? Oh wow?
Speaker 5 (21:00):
Especially a place that's near and dear to your heart,
it should be a band that's.
Speaker 4 (21:04):
Near and dear to your heart.
Speaker 1 (21:05):
After the performance of their baseball teams this year, they
shouldn't be singing nothing. Homeboy, dang home boy.
Speaker 4 (21:14):
You're the only person that cares because you have a.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
What are you talking about?

Sauce Gardener of the Jets was asked about the performance
of Daniel Jones by members of the media, and it
sounded a little something like.
Speaker 7 (22:44):
This was your opinion or ever takeaway on Daniel Jones.
Speaker 4 (22:51):
He's a good quarterback, you feel me. I thought I
was about to pick him one today. I had a
little cloud rip.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
No, he had looked the last minute to try to
throw the check down on one deal.
Speaker 5 (23:03):
You know, I thought I had to pick but he
kept it me.
Speaker 1 (23:13):
Man, sure.
Speaker 4 (23:17):
The competitive periods, it was very competitive. Man, it was great,
like I have fun out there today.
Speaker 1 (23:25):
You know, I don't really know what to say.
Speaker 3 (23:33):
His mom clearly tied him the Golden rule. Yeah, you know,
oh well not well, not the Golden rule. But if
if you don't have anything good to say about somebody,
don't say anything at all.
Speaker 4 (23:44):
He did that not one of the gold rules.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
Maybe it is.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
I thought the golden rule was treat others the way
you want them to treat yourself.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
Yeah, they haven't heard this show.
Speaker 3 (23:52):
Yeah, dang, that does not apply here, not at all.
But now he did say that he was a little
distracted afterwards on social media. So yeah, I said he
was a good quarterback, but I got a little distracted
mid interview.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
It's like what happened did like somebody walk by?
Speaker 3 (24:08):
And yeah, but he did it twice though, because at
the beginning, at the beginning it was like, well he's good.
He had to pull good out of his mouth. He
(24:29):
had to force himself to say good. Listen to it again,
run it up. The first part put.
Speaker 1 (24:35):
Your opinion or ever take away on Damiel was listed
the first part.
Speaker 4 (24:40):
He's he's a good.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
He's A. You can stop you stop us that he's a.
Speaker 4 (24:46):
He's A.
Speaker 1 (24:47):
He's A.
Speaker 4 (24:47):
He's A. He's every day of the week he's he's A.
By the way, that's what song is that I'm thinking of?
Speaker 1 (25:02):
Oh man, what is that song? Got a different girl
every day? I can't remember.
Speaker 4 (25:09):
Who're not trying to put the rush on you. I
have to let you know that I got crush on you.
Speaker 1 (25:13):
What is that song?
Speaker 4 (25:14):
I don't know? That's that's the first thing I thought.
Speaker 1 (25:17):
Have Brady singing and it on your phone.
Speaker 4 (25:19):
Man, I'm still a thing.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
Yeah it is is. I don't know what song that is?
Speaker 3 (25:26):
Now, you got my head messed up because I generally
be knowing these songs. But sas Gardner wanted to say,
he's some trash, but he said he's a he's a
And then that's that moment in time where you asked yourself,
do I do it? Like, do I do it? Or
do I not do it? Do I keep it cordial?
(25:47):
Or do I give him locker room material? Do I
do I say what I really mean? Or do I
not say what I mean? Or do I say what
I mean by not saying what I really mean? Like,
he's a he he's a he's a uh, he he's.
Speaker 1 (26:03):
A he's a good he's a good quarterback. That there
it is. He's a good quarterback. There you go, I
feel bad for Daniel Jones.
Speaker 3 (26:09):
He's he's he is the punchlinepen season on da Oh,
he's the punch line. There you go, very well done.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
Like even if he throws two touchdowns in a game.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
Not gonna be enough. Somebody gonna find one. Wow, Well,
when's the turnover coming? When when's this hat? Like it's
almost like everybody's giving up. They're just like, hey, it
is what it is. We just got to ride this
thing out.
Speaker 1 (26:28):
I mean, but isn't that kind of accurate for now?
I mean, isn't that kind of accurate for now? He
had a major injury, Like he's coming off a major injury,
so you know, maybe we kind of knee injury. I know,
I'm kidding.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
I mean, it could have been something else. Then it
was the neck before that, then it was his game.
Did his game go on his game? His game man
came off of I R yeah.
Speaker 5 (26:56):
I mean, I'll say that's in defense of Daniel Jones.
He's it's an uphill battle. Well, not only does he
have everyone talking like this about him and he's most
likely aware of it.
Speaker 4 (27:07):
The protection still hasn't been great.
Speaker 5 (27:10):
You gave away your your best offensive weapon, your best
friend in Saquon Barkley at running back, and now you've
got a rookie that Milie neighbors looks like he's going
to be the part. But I mean, outside of him
and Slayton and you know, whoever decides to step up consistently,
that's it's tough. It's tough sledding for a quarterback in
(27:30):
that spot when you're probably gonna be in some tight
games because I do think they have a good defense
that will keep them in some games because if not,
and they have to win via a shootout, it's gonna
be tough. I mean it's gonna be a rep for them.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
I don't think the prognosis is good for Daniel Jones
or the Giants whatsoever, like whatsoever. And I'm a Giants fan.
I like the organization, I really do. I'm a fan
and the ownership group, you know, the families. I just
don't see how they come out on top with the
(28:09):
scenario that they have playing out in in in.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
New York right now. I just don't.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
I think it's great that people could say Molik Neighbors
looks the part. I think that's great. But I just
don't think that Daniel Jones has a has a strong
enough back, has strong enough shoulders to carry the load
that it's going to take for him to be able.
Speaker 1 (28:33):
To What about his strong enough It got injured, didn't it.
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (28:39):
A lot of neck though.
Speaker 1 (28:41):
Does he have a lot of neck.
Speaker 4 (28:43):
More than less? I mean it's not David Mills, but
I mean it definitely not.
Speaker 3 (28:51):
That's a lot of neck. Yeah, he might be the
captain of the audience's borderline like human draft neck.
Speaker 1 (28:56):
You know.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
All I'm gonna say is I think that the defense
will be pretty good. This will be a competitive team.
I will say that and because they're going to be
a competitive team and in other facets of the game.
This sets the stage for Daniel Jones to be the
(29:20):
fall guy for the New York Giants. Now he could
change his circumstances. The beauty of football, in the beauty
of sports, is that you can take what people say
it's going to be or prognosticate what it's going to be,
think it's what it's going to be, and you can
do something totally different, like play well, like be the
(29:43):
reason why the team is winning, or be the reason
why the team didn't lose.
Speaker 1 (29:49):
It's all on him. I think it's all on him.
Speaker 3 (29:52):
I think what you'll see is for this season, you'll
see a defense that plays well.
Speaker 1 (29:59):
They'll play football.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
All that gives the offense the opportunity to win games.
Question is will their offense deliver? And that's what I
think is going to play out.
Speaker 1 (30:11):
Now.
Speaker 3 (30:12):
I could be terribly wrong because the defense could not
show up. I mean we saw the New York Jets
defense kind of slow down, not not be as dominant
as they could have been as the season war on.
I mean, they gave the team chances at times, but
there were times where the defense allowed things to happen
where they didn't give Zach Wilson the best of opportunities
(30:36):
to be able to win games. So I could be
wrong in what I'm saying, but I think I'm more
close to being correct and saying that this is a
defense that is built to be able to get to
the quarterback. I think they get to the quarterback. I
think they'll do good against the run, and as they
it goes to the pad, we'll see what they what
happens in the passing game. But I think that the
(30:58):
Giants will be competitive in games, which I believe will
ultimately put the spotlight on Daniel Jones as to what
it is he's going to do.
Speaker 1 (31:08):
Yeah, I mean, I wouldn't worry about it. They're gonna
have Belichick and Josh McDaniels there next year anyways, so
that'll be fine.
Speaker 3 (31:14):
Yeah, be their quarterbacks that's going to go. If that happens.
He ain't gonna be their quarterback.
Speaker 1 (31:19):
No, definitely, not from the top rope there.
Speaker 3 (31:22):
I'm just saying it's not looking good for the right
hand by knock.
Speaker 2 (31:26):

(32:53):
related to the recruitment of Cade mcmurra.
Speaker 4 (32:57):
Uh.
Speaker 9 (32:57):
This is according to multiple reports just came out recently.
Speaker 5 (33:00):
You guys see this, Yeah, I heard Eddy give that
on the update. Now, looking into the report based on
how things went in their scrimmage that the stats became public,
I'm not sure it's gonna matter either way. They they
offensively look like they're still exactly where they were just
(33:22):
a year ago. I mean no, I'm just saying, man it,
it doesn't doesn't seem like there's gonna be an offensive
explosion there in Iowa. Sorry for the Iowa fans. If
you're upset with me for saying that. I hope I'm wrong,
all right, love Iowa City Go Hawks, but I don't know,
(33:46):
I don't I don't foresee that necessarily happening.
Speaker 1 (33:49):
I think this is also karma for Iowa. Sam basically
spinning in our face and leaving the show to go elsewhere.
I mean, I think this is this is but again
you get Iowa, Sam. I mean I was wondering the
same thing exactly, all right, some some burnout who does
never leave this show and go elsewhere. So this is
what you get. Now your team's getting punished. H you
(34:11):
know we're losing a game. Who they play in Illinois State?
To open up the air, like, I wouldn't mind betting
on Illinois State. To be honest with you, I don't
even know if he can't.
Speaker 4 (34:19):
That far will score a point? Ever? Said eye with defense?
Speaker 1 (34:24):
Damn they always played defense. What else do you got
to lead?
Speaker 4 (34:28):
Defense and special teams?
Speaker 1 (34:30):
Guys?
Speaker 9 (34:30):
In case you missed this fun rivalry in the world
of college football head coaches Lane Kiffen and Brian Kelly.
Lane Kiffin, of course, went viral for his rant on
Coca Cola. Well, Brian Kelly saw that as an opportunity
to take a jab at him.
Speaker 1 (34:43):
Take a listen to.
Speaker 4 (34:44):
Both of them. Anybody drink coke?
Speaker 10 (34:48):
You guys had one hundred and thirty of your sugar
for the entire days in this one model.
Speaker 4 (34:55):
Sixty of sugar, A long time just to shout out
to our sponsor Coke.
Speaker 10 (35:07):
You know, smart water, great coke product, minerals, vitamins. It's
just great for you, so refreshing, healthy and coke provides
you all the products that you.
Speaker 4 (35:22):
Need depending on what you like. And I love smart Water.
It's campaign season, baby. No one's as savvy as Brian Kelly.
Let me tell you, ye, man, he solved the opportunity.
Speaker 5 (35:34):
And in the world of corporate sponsorships and N I
L he's saying.
Speaker 4 (35:39):
To himself, L s us for business and old miss.
Speaker 5 (35:44):
Probably not not with Coca Cola and their products.
Speaker 4 (35:48):
And so forth.
Speaker 1 (35:49):
Not after that at least, Yeah, not how Land handled that.
All right, when's the last time you guys had a
coke not mixed with something, just a straight up coke.
Speaker 4 (35:58):
It's been a long, long, long time.
Speaker 5 (36:01):
If it was mixed with the like a rub and
coke or jack and coke, it's probably been more recent,
but it's been a while.
Speaker 3 (36:08):
Yeah, it's I mean outside of LeVar Islands. Yes, I
can't recall now I've had pepsi coke and LeVar Island. Yeah,
you put a little put a little pepsi or coke in.
Speaker 4 (36:20):
Yeah, that was I thought it was tea?
Speaker 1 (36:23):
Yeah, well you put a little bit of coke in there.
There's no tea in a Long Island iced tea. There
you go?
Speaker 4 (36:28):
What what? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (36:30):
Sours sour Way soda.
Speaker 4 (36:33):
How the hell does it get its name? Then?
Speaker 3 (36:36):
Yeah, I don't know why it's called that, Lee can
you can you dig in on this?
Speaker 9 (36:41):
Yeah, I'm looking into this right now because I had.
Speaker 1 (36:43):
Oh, I know the ingredients. I just didn't want to
give them out.
Speaker 4 (36:48):
What did you just say?
Speaker 1 (36:49):
I had a couple, But now that I think about it,
there's no tea.
Speaker 3 (36:52):
There's no tea in there. Yeah, it's the it's the
it's the soda that gives it the color.
Speaker 4 (36:59):
Slides that right on everyone. You had a couple yesterday? Actually?
Speaker 1 (37:04):
Oh man, Yeah, it's funny you bring that up. I'm
just there. There's no lemonade in it either, No.
Speaker 5 (37:12):
Vodka, tequila, light rum, triple sec gin and a splash
of cola.
Speaker 1 (37:16):
And if you do LeVar Island, who put the Grand
Marnia on top?
Speaker 4 (37:20):
Right?
Speaker 1 (37:20):
Not Grandma Redda? Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (37:23):
Maybe if you.
Speaker 3 (37:24):
Put sours in it too, though, you can put sour
mix in there too.
Speaker 5 (37:28):
Hold on, hold on, var what do you put on
it on the top or it's not Grand Martin.
Speaker 1 (37:32):
It's no. Do you want to get that? It's I
mean it is, I did it.
Speaker 3 (37:36):
It happened, It just happened in it's all right, trying
to set when you when you hear about it, you'll
be like, man, it's in the it's it's goodness in
the in the can.
Speaker 1 (37:46):
I'll take it out of the podcast. There you go,
it's all good. All right.
Speaker 3 (37:49):
Oh, somebody's calling in to tell us about about who's
calling it? LeVar Allen's Is that the h Oh? That's
probably one of the listeners thinking they're gonna get on
the air. Yeah, let's let's let them on. Let's let's
hear what they have to say. I mean, we're up
against it.
Speaker 1 (38:05):
You want to do you want to let them on?
Speaker 4 (38:07):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (38:08):
Longlan, Yeah, let's hear what he has. We'll get them
ten seconds to speak. What has he got to say? Hello?
Speaker 4 (38:14):
What do you want a cherry coke? Have you ever
heard of cherry coke?
Speaker 3 (38:19):
No?
Speaker 1 (38:19):
What what is it? What's that about?
Speaker 3 (38:21):
Ship mine?
Speaker 4 (38:23):
What I tell you?
Speaker 1 (38:24):
What I tell you? What I tell you? You ruined
it for everyone?
Speaker 3 (38:27):
Thumbbags, you're ruined it for everything's the problem.
Speaker 1 (38:32):
It was funny, though it was funny,
