Speaker 4 (01:14):
So it is getaway day.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
As we mentioned to open up the show here, we're
also going to get into a discussion about somebody who
will be making a return to the NFL coming up
later this season.
Speaker 5 (01:26):
Why are you laughing?
Speaker 4 (01:28):
I didn't think he was.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
Actually gonna do it, I'll be honest with you, But
Lee actually did it. He had been waiting to get
a new passport. And when you get passports, what are
they ten years?
Speaker 6 (01:38):
Like?
Speaker 4 (01:39):
They last ten years?
Speaker 5 (01:40):
Right?
Speaker 3 (01:41):
So yeah, and when you get the picture taken, you're
just going to have to have that for ten years.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
And so Lee go ahead and take it away.
Speaker 7 (01:52):
Well, luckily, my passport arrived yesterday in the mill, right
before our getaway day, and it is a glorious picture
of my platine powerpelt, my mullet, and I cannot be
happier that that's going to be my representation for the
next ten years.
Speaker 8 (02:06):
It's a good photo. I thought you were getting rid
of the mullet.
Speaker 7 (02:11):
I I am planning on getting rid of the bullets soon.
I actually was gonna go get it redone for the
trip today, but my guy Chewy had his baby yesterday,
so he couldn't do my hair, baby girl Chew.
Speaker 5 (02:26):
Chewy's real name Hayesus. Yes, that is why is every chewy.
Speaker 7 (02:35):
It's the thing from from Mexico specifically. Yeah, you go
by Chewy.
Speaker 5 (02:39):
That's what it's supposed to mean. Jonas.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
I know a few chewyes, two of them in particular,
and both of their names happened to be.
Speaker 5 (02:49):
Us.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
Now here's a third, and so I thought I'd ask
to test the theory, and bam lo and behold.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
When you have to get when you have to renew
your passport, how old will you be by then? I'll
be in my mid forties.
Speaker 9 (03:06):
By the way, I have not you got off on
a tangent, but only because LaVar just kind of took
a little pole there right. I don't know why I've
been like doing polls on X It's so stupid, but
I'm just kind of curious to see how people respond.
Speaker 8 (03:21):
And I did a couple of polls this week.
Speaker 5 (03:24):
The first one was.
Speaker 9 (03:27):
If you sue your alma mater, do you think you'll
be running back out the tone It may have been
motivated by the Reggie Bush, you know, conversation we've been having,
but I think ninety percent of the response is we're no,
you would not be running out of the tunnel. Ten
percent said you would. I'm not really sure what the
explanation was, but there's that. And the other one was,
(03:49):
would you rather have a double header double barrel action,
as you would say, on Monday night football, or just
one game in primetime Monday, one game in primetime Tuesday?
And I want to say six see four percent something
like that had replied they'd rather have a primetime on
Tuesday instead of the doubleheader on Monday, double barrel action.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
So just do one on a Monday and the other
on a Tuesday. I mean, that's fine space.
Speaker 5 (04:12):
A little bit.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
Yeah, I'd be into that.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
I mean, at a certain point, if they're going to
add these this many games, they're gonna have to start
kind of veering off into some other time slots. I
would think, like, there's.
Speaker 4 (04:24):
You know, you can leave Wednesday.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
That's fine, Like give Wednesdays everybody's everybody's off day. You
can kind of get a break and say hi to
the family again. But I mean Thursday through Tuesday, I'm
into it. Let's go full throttle, full bottle as they.
Speaker 5 (04:39):
Say, full throttle to the bottle.
Speaker 9 (04:41):
By the way, maybe it's just me, like I feel
like there'd be something more to look forward to, you know,
like like you get to a Wednesday night and you're like,
what I'm gonna do now?
Speaker 6 (04:50):
You know?
Speaker 9 (04:51):
Action?
Speaker 3 (04:53):
Not yet, Yeah, but later in the season it's a
action going Maybe tell tell call football to throw somebody
else up there?
Speaker 4 (05:01):
Or does the MAC have that unlock?
Speaker 8 (05:03):
Do they have that kind of has that unlocked?
Speaker 5 (05:05):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (05:06):
Okay?
Speaker 3 (05:06):
Yeah, And by the way, Lee did also point out
he did some mini bottles. Good to go on that too.
Speaker 6 (05:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (05:13):
I should have graabd more, but I have enough to
get me through the first leg of the flight. Okay first, Yeah,
that first leg would be fine.
Speaker 5 (05:18):
It's good. I'm going to get fraed today on the
way in, I'm getting fraed.
Speaker 4 (05:25):
What is your flight?
Speaker 5 (05:27):
Don't worry about what time is y'all?
Speaker 4 (05:28):
Flight eight fifteen.
Speaker 5 (05:30):
Yeah, No, I'm later than y'all. I'm not leaving the
house until that time.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Lee and I tried the seventh the seventh to pack.
We tried these seven to twenty five departure last time,
and bad idea.
Speaker 4 (05:42):
Yeah, that was not great.
Speaker 8 (05:43):
Why was that, Gus, Why was that a bad idea?
Speaker 3 (05:45):
Traffic getting to Lax, which is just a cesspool, and
then getting through Lax to park, and then getting through
security and trying to get to the gate and the
walk because they're redoing Lax takes forever, and.
Speaker 9 (06:00):
So we barely made it as air boarding, so LaVar,
you know what I noticed is since Jonas never really flies,
he is tough to travel with. League Like you're gonna
you're gonna lose. You're gonna lose Jonas. You're gonna lose him.
He's just getting distracted.
Speaker 8 (06:14):
It's tough.
Speaker 7 (06:15):
No, he's pretty easy. You just know he's gonna stop
three or four times for water bottles.
Speaker 5 (06:19):
See, you gotta have your pall bearer?
Speaker 4 (06:22):
Whoa like, don't you.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Have not that hold?
Speaker 5 (06:28):
The level taker? He made stall? Would you like marry Undertaker?
Speaker 10 (06:38):
Like?
Speaker 5 (06:38):
What late?
Speaker 1 (06:40):
Just straight up, man, it's difficult to travel with because
he has to wear black, he can't cross mirrors.
Speaker 5 (06:46):
He does lose any suddenlight Like, let's be clear here, man.
Speaker 7 (06:50):
He does lose his uh, his clothing on the flight
every once in a while. And he brings a whole
bottle of crystal guys, are one of those big jugs.
That could be your second job, Jonas. You can have
you can deliver your crystal guys or bottles.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
How many times does Jonahs get up to go to
the restroom during the flight? Oh five six, he's guaranteeing
you he's a get up and go over under two
and a half.
Speaker 5 (07:11):
I'll take the over.
Speaker 9 (07:12):
Yeah, I've never known anyone to appreciate hydration as much
as Jonas.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
I don't know, it's cool, it's weird, cool, it's weird,
it's really cool.
Speaker 5 (07:20):
Man might be putting them sugar blood packs and.
Speaker 8 (07:24):
He's got those strips. Were like you could test your urine.
Speaker 5 (07:27):
Right, that is not crystal like, so y'all know be clear,
you're in danger.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
It's actually it's actually a disguised it's a sleeve on
top of a blood bottle. It's not actually aquafina, that's
actually blood inside it.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
You're listening to this show right now and Jonas knocks
happens to be sitting next to you or someone that
you know is flying and he's sitting next to them,
tell them, or you guard your neck or something around
your neck if you plan on falling asleep dozing off.
Speaker 5 (07:58):
He might hit your neck smacktabs.
Speaker 3 (08:07):
Well, we do have some good news all right here
on this show, because it looks as if, if you
believe the reports that Tua Tagabailoa is planning on returning
this year. That is at least the early reporting man
he's going to meet with neurologists. We talked about the
injury setting in at this point in the season of
the Dolphins quarterback situation. It's a bit of a mess
(08:29):
without Tua Tagabyloa. But he is planning on making a
return and I know that. Look, if he's cleared, if
he wants to play, I got no issue with it.
But it does create the potential of maybe an uncomfortable watch.
And I do wonder if the NFL would say, listen,
at least wear a guardian cap, like at least like
(08:51):
give the give the presentation that we're you know, doing
as much as we can to try and help out here,
because this is way too many times and it seemingly
all always plays out on national TV when everybody wants
to weigh in as a quote unquote doctor on social media.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
So that's at least where we're.
Speaker 5 (09:07):
At with them.
Speaker 8 (09:08):
So aren't you weighing as a doctor right now, wear
a guardian cat.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
But I know I'm good if he doesn't wear a
guardian cat. But I think they're gonna make him. I
think they're going to step in and say, do us
a solid here.
Speaker 9 (09:18):
I think they should wrap him up a bubble wrap
like a little giants at this point, do you guys
remember that?
Speaker 5 (09:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (09:25):
Man, my daughter was playing a soccer game the other day.
I swear to you this girl who's there planing against
was huge and she looked almost like icebox giants.
Speaker 6 (09:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (09:35):
How old is that?
Speaker 9 (09:37):
I don't know, But she's in a U nine league
and this girl was looked big and she ripped one
for a goal too. I mean there was like a
vapor trail in that ball. Anyway, I digress. I don't know, man,
I just I feel like he's got to do a
(09:59):
better job of protecting himself and too. A typically gets
the ball out of his hand pretty quick, but he's
got to find ways of I mean, this past one
was more on him than anything else.
Speaker 5 (10:10):
He could have slid.
Speaker 9 (10:12):
He could have not running to demorrow Hamlin like that.
I mean, I just he's got to change the way
he sees the game. Once he gets outside the pocket
and maybe even from inside the pocket and trying to
stay on time, on rhythm with some of these throws,
and he might miss them throws. It might, you know,
end up having a couple of punts. But I mean,
(10:33):
look at this Dolphins team without him. They're probably on
their next starting quarterback in Tyler Honley this week, and
it's not like they have much of a shot or
hope without him.
Speaker 8 (10:42):
So Honestly, as bad as that sounds.
Speaker 9 (10:44):
To, maybe like every once in a while, preserve you
right the punt, throw the football away if it means
his health, his ability to stay in the game, that
gives Miami the best chance to win.
Speaker 5 (10:52):
Man, I just I feel like.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
This is a no win situation for too and for
the Miami Dolphins, and possibly for the NFL. If the
NFL gets involved and does something or urges the Miami
Dolphins to do something super super proactive towards Tua and
(11:17):
what this situation represents, they're at risk. If the Miami
Dolphins do it same exact thing, you let them go,
and he does, in fact get hurt again the same
exact way, then now you're facing having to deal with
the repercussions of the time.
Speaker 5 (11:35):
I mean, think about the lawsuit that he has on.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
His hands right now to day before he plays another down,
what he's going to be able to do and claim
in his workers comp when he's done playing, he.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
Can oh, yes, even if he's the one that's going
out there against potentially Yes, it's.
Speaker 5 (11:58):
Line of duty. It's line of duty.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
I mean, if he's allowed to play and he's out there,
it's not as though like, oh, well, we're not responsible
for it. He will have the ability to foul a
liability claim against the organization, and he'll go through all
of the process of them doing scans and tests and
paying attention to what it is that he's doing, and
(12:23):
he will ultimately at the end of the day, he'll
probably collect a compensation check for the rest of his
life that's of significant value because of the complexities and
and and the severity of what it is he's sustained
while he was in the line of duty. So I
just think it's a no one situation if you ask me,
(12:43):
he if he doesn't do what Q just said. If
he doesn't, if he doesn't alter the way he plays
and and avoid contact as much as he possibly can,
it's a rap.
Speaker 5 (12:57):
It's already shown that was not that big of a
hit by Damar Hamlin. It wasn't a big of a hit, so.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
Hamlin handler Hamler, Hamlin, I messed it up. I know
I messed it up anyway, Hamlin, I got it okay,
it wasn't that big of a strike. So basically, he's
in a situation where any type of force to his
head is going to lead to him looking like he
(13:27):
got knocked out in a boxing match.
Speaker 5 (13:30):
Anyone. I don't have to be an expert.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
Or a doctor or a neurologist or a brain surgeon
or the people from Pittsburgh.
Speaker 5 (13:38):
To realize and know that this is now the pattern
that is connected to Tua when he gets hit.
Speaker 3 (13:44):
Do you guys remember when Alex Smith came back from
that nasty leg injury and he played in a game,
and you saw the surgeries, the scars, the infection, all
those pictures that came out when he actually played in
a game. I think it was against the Rams, and
the first guy that got a hold of him was
Aaron Donald. I remember kind of cringing looking at the TV,
(14:05):
going oh God, like I please don't let anything terrible happen.
And I just think that that's going to be To
your point, Levart, there's gonna be a lot of people
that are like, uh oh, like is that the one?
Like if he gets you know, if somebody pushes him,
they don't really make contact, but the back of his
head hits the turf. Like there's all sorts of things
that could happen. The one thing that is happening now,
(14:28):
there's a significant difference between the Dolphins with two and
without him. So for anybody that wonder whether or not
that guy was the right quarterback for that team, they
are not good without tuatago I looa yeah.
Speaker 9 (14:42):
And that goes for all the Dolphins fans down there,
my buddy Nick in particular, who will every time he
gets a chance dump on two on. It's like, dude, stop,
Like he's good, He's good for the system. When he's
in there, you guys got a shot. So hopefully, hopefully
he can get back soon, even though it's not till
what week seven, I believe versus the Colts is the
(15:04):
first time he can come back.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
That feels like an eternity if you're a Dolphins fan
right now, yeah, because what do you I mean? Skyler
Thompson's banged up. You got you know, Tyler Huntley, what
I mean, what are your options like it? You know,
is Sage Rosenfels around Brady you plut you had a
cup of coffee with the Dolphins, Like what do you
what do you think? Let's gust that off.
Speaker 4 (15:26):
You're going to be in the area this weekend.
Speaker 9 (15:27):
I'm pretty sure after I rolled rolled my ankle, I
am done trying to attempt most things that I used
to do in the past athletically.
Speaker 8 (15:34):
That was a very very low moment for me in
my life.
Speaker 5 (15:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
But is that healing up pretty good or what?
Speaker 9 (15:40):
Yeah, it's healing up. I'm out of the walking boot.
I did tear a couple of ligaments. I've got one
that's more of a concern to my orthopedic because it
could mess with a couple of attendons. There could need
to be surgery involved, so we've got to monitor it.
I got another check up here in a few weeks.
But it is improving. However, no one cares about that, uh,
(16:02):
Sage roseveelts, though, I will reach out the stage and
see if he's inquiring about potentially going on the Dolphins.
Speaker 8 (16:08):
As as I.
Speaker 9 (16:08):
Said before, still to the all time greatest conversation when
he was able to leave a franchise on demand, like
just was like, yeah, I'm good and he knew he
was gonna get picked up by another team right away.
Speaker 8 (16:21):
And it pretty much happened.
Speaker 5 (16:23):
So stage for that that was one of my rookie.
My rookies in Washington was.
Speaker 9 (16:29):
Man, yeah, all I know, Levars. He just goes, yeah,
I think I'm gonna they're gonna try to play me here.
And he's like it is not good. Look like a
good situation. So he's like, I'm gonna ask to be cut.
Speaker 4 (16:40):
And they just they cooperated.
Speaker 9 (16:42):
He got out of the man. He was like yeah,
and sure enough. I saw him three weeks later he
was with the Vikings. I was like, you did You
said you had to do what you did it. I
was like, I didn't know that was even possible. Like
at this point in time, I've been in the league
like four or five years. I'm like, I don't even
know you could do that sort of thing. He's like,
oh yeah, he just hass to be done.
Speaker 5 (17:06):
I'm good here.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
Oh man, it is two pros and a cup of Joe.
Here on Fox Sports Radio, LeVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas
Knox with you said coming up next here it is
a Thursday tradition.
Speaker 4 (17:15):
The Great Albert Breer stops by.
Speaker 3 (17:17):
We've got news and notes from around the league, and
it's all yours right here on FSR.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Arrington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
Two Pros and a Cup of Joe Here on Fox
Sports Radio, we are going to close up shop with
some Lee's leftovers coming up here in a little over
fifteen minutes from now.
Speaker 4 (17:45):
But right now we turn it over to the man himself.
Speaker 3 (17:47):
Albert Breer, senior NFL reporter, lead content strategist at the MMQB.
You can also see him as part of the Amazon's
coverage of the NFL on Prime Is There Insider every
single Thursday night, and he hangs out with us before
that every single Thursday morning here on the show.
Speaker 4 (18:06):
Abe, what's happening? How we feeling?
Speaker 6 (18:08):
Yeah? With up, guys, how are we doing?
Speaker 4 (18:10):
We're good.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
I'm just just a little curious here because you know
the Giants are going to be featured later tonight.
Speaker 4 (18:16):
Obviously we know there's some Belichick ties to New York
going back all those years.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
When he was with Parcels, and you've kind of thrown
out the possibility of potentially if the job opens up
in Jacksonville as well, then maybe the Jags could make
some sense. What like, what is the if you had
to say right now, where do you think is more
likely if these jobs open up, Not hoping it happens,
(18:42):
but if they open up that Belichick would prefer.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
To go to.
Speaker 10 (18:46):
You know, I think for Bill this is probably going
to be about relationships.
Speaker 6 (18:49):
And but the reason I'm you know, I brought up
some of.
Speaker 10 (18:53):
These teams is because I know he has standing relationships.
So you know, in New York with the Marra family,
you know, I I know he's you know, he has
built the relationship over the years, had a relationship for
the decade he was there with John Mara, the Giants owner. Uh,
(19:14):
you know, in Philadelphia he's had a long standing relationship
with Howie Roseman, their general manager. In Dallas, he's got
a good relationship with the Joneses.
Speaker 6 (19:23):
And then you know, in.
Speaker 10 (19:25):
Jacksonville, he's had the year of ownership, and you know,
I think this is sort of an interesting one because
you've got a quarterback in place who's still really young,
who's got a lot of upside.
Speaker 5 (19:35):
You know.
Speaker 10 (19:36):
The other thing that I think, you know is interesting
about the Jacksonville and again, like he's got the year
of ownership. I say that because he's built a relationship
with not only Shadcom but the owner's son, Tony, and
you know, he was one of the people that basically
recommended to the Jaguars, Hey, you should, you know, just
hire Doug Maroon full time in twenty seventeen. Obviously Maroon
(19:57):
and him have have the mutual connection to Bill Parton, so.
Speaker 6 (20:02):
You know, there's that.
Speaker 10 (20:03):
But there's also, I think in Jacksonville the reality that
the owner that shot isn't there at time. So if
you're talking about wanting to go to a place where
you know you're gonna be able to really run the show.
Speaker 6 (20:14):
I think Jacksonville would afford him that. Plus they've been
patient in the past.
Speaker 10 (20:19):
There's not a lot of meddling, So I don't know,
I mean, like that one I thought was, you know,
I thought that one was a little interesting now again,
like Doug Peterson's got plenty of time to turn it around.
But you look at like the way things you know,
unfold over the next few weeks're gonna be playing Houston
team that's gonna be looking at shops coming off of
their first loss of the year next week. Then the
week after that, they got Indies, and then they got
(20:41):
to go to London and they'll.
Speaker 6 (20:42):
Play the Bears and Patriots in London.
Speaker 10 (20:45):
If they go there on in five I'd assume like
that's going to be kind of embarrassing for shod Cohn
based on how much he's invested over there, and we
all know what happens when you know, a billionaire gets embarrassed.
If they come back going seven, God, that's even worse,
you know. So, So I think the Jaguars, you know,
Doug Peterson, that whole group, they've got their work cut
(21:05):
out for them. It did not look good on Monday night,
and you know, now you know they've got which should
be a pretty angry Texans team face in the next
So that would be one that I'm kind of throwing
the pile with the NFC's teams. I don't know if
there's any one that's more likely than the others.
Speaker 9 (21:20):
Right now, though, let's talk about tonight. What are you
looking forward to your most about tonight's matchup?
Speaker 10 (21:27):
Yeah, you know, I think Brady, it's it's just two
teams that are I don't want to use the word desperate,
but you know, they've got a lot on the line.
Speaker 6 (21:37):
Tonight, you know, I mean, I think you know, for.
Speaker 10 (21:41):
The Cowboys, it's like they played eight really bad quarters
of football, right like, so you take the first half
out in Cleveland and then the second half out in Baltimore,
and you basically have two solid games. The second half
in Cleveland, the full game against the Saints, and the
first half against the Ravens that were really, really bad
and they were able to turn it around and rally
(22:03):
at the end of that game. And you know, so,
does this mean they have some of the alignment and
the chemistry and the system issues fixed on defense? Does
this mean Dak is back where he needs to be
and in the rhythm he needs to be in So,
you know, being able to carry over some of that
stuff on the road on a Thursday night, it's a
big deal for them, you know. And then the Giants
(22:25):
believe it or not. Like the Giants feel like Daniel
Jones has played the two best games he's played over
the last year and a half. That's small sample size
that he got hurt last year, but the best two
games that he's played over the last year and a
half his last two games, and they've really gotten the
league neighbors to come alive. And you know, so it
looks like they're making progress. Yet they're one and two,
(22:46):
and so like, can they you know, pick up where
they left off against Cleveland? Is the rhythm there is
the stuff system wise and defense there. So it just
feels like it's two teams that really could use the
lift of coming out of this with a win in
If they can, then they get the chance to reset
with the ten days off and kind of turn their
(23:08):
season around. The other you know, whoever comes down to
the wrong end of this could be asking bigger questions.
Speaker 1 (23:16):
Ab you chimed in on the athlete in college that
is rich shirting and the whole mess with with that
and yeah, you said go to the root of it,
and it's Mark Emmert sitting on the sidelines. I thought
that was a pretty interesting take on it. Can can
you just expand on it for us a little.
Speaker 10 (23:38):
I know, I will say, LeVar, I am aware of
what pen staters think of Mark Emmert, so I think
I might be preaching to the choir here.
Speaker 6 (23:47):
But oh yeah, I mean look like I felt this
way for a long time.
Speaker 10 (23:53):
Like and I'm not as in it as you are
or brady as you are, but just being an observer
and big fan of college football, Like I think the
stuff with Nil and everything else, everybody saw us coming
the last twenty years.
Speaker 6 (24:08):
I mean going back to.
Speaker 10 (24:09):
Like when I was in school, I was a senior
when at Ohio State, when all the stuff was going
on with you know, Maurice Corett, and then just out
of school when there's all I talk about being one
and done and him and Mike Williams challenging the rules.
I think going back to then, you knew this was coming, right, Like,
there's no question this was coming. And so like the
NCAA had over two decades to really evaluate this, to
(24:33):
look at this and to create a fair system without
you know, letting things leave their control. Instead, Mark Emertt
just left the old system in place, continued to reap
the profits, and then when it looked like the houses
finally came coming down ran for the Hills, and basically,
(24:56):
I think it's the NCAA's fault for not to I
think something they could have fixed, something they could have
negotiated with the players, something they could have come up
with a reasonable solution to. And now it's in the
hands of congressmen and lawyers and all that, And I
think that's why you have to mess with this that
you do with this. I don't know the ins and
outs of the mount Matthew Sluka. I think I'm right
(25:18):
right Sluca.
Speaker 6 (25:20):
I don't know.
Speaker 10 (25:21):
I don't know the ins and out of his situation
on the level where I'm comfortable.
Speaker 6 (25:25):
With pointing finger either way. But I don't think like
it's I don't think it's I don't think it's like
a singular situation.
Speaker 10 (25:33):
But I think it's a lot of what's going on
across college sports right now. And I think there's a
very easy place where we can all point the finger.
And I think to look forward, we have to look back.
The mistakes were made that were made, and the NCAA
made a very very serious they made very very serious
mistakes and not addressing this earlier, and I think it's
(25:53):
because Mark Emert knew like that he could reap the
profits of the old system and then once the the
jig was kind of up, he could, you know, walk
away into retirement, count his money and let everybody else
handle the problem.
Speaker 9 (26:07):
That almost sounded like a Matthew mccataughey Lincoln commercial with that.
Speaker 5 (26:11):
You like that?
Speaker 10 (26:15):
Yeah, I knew, Brady, I knew I sold that from
somewhere when I was saying I couldn't figure that where
so there.
Speaker 9 (26:23):
Pretty sure that was a Matthew McConaughey Lincoln commercial at
one point when they were introducing the aviator or the navigator.
Speaker 5 (26:30):
At one point.
Speaker 4 (26:31):
That's right, that's right, Yeah, baby, it is two pros
and a cup of Joe.
Speaker 1 (26:35):
Here.
Speaker 4 (26:35):
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (26:36):
Alper Breer with us here on FSR, wanted to ask
you just about the situation in Pittsburgh. It feels like
Justin Fields plays a little bit better each week. They
trust him a little bit more in the offense, and
they're three and oh, so where do we stand with
Russell Wilson.
Speaker 10 (26:54):
I think there is a title way of support in
that building for Justin Fields right now, you know. Now,
I think the issue Mike Tomlin has is if you
decide to go with Justin Fields for the rest of
the season, do you have to remove Russell.
Speaker 6 (27:09):
Wilson off the roster and Kenny be there as a backup.
Speaker 10 (27:14):
Whereas one solution would be let Russell Wilson go out.
Speaker 6 (27:18):
There, give him a chance.
Speaker 10 (27:20):
If it doesn't, you know, if it doesn't work out, you.
Speaker 6 (27:23):
Have a quick trigger and you go back to Justin Fields.
Speaker 10 (27:25):
But I can tell you this, like Justin Fields is
incredibly well liked in that building.
Speaker 6 (27:31):
The staff likes coaching him.
Speaker 10 (27:33):
They feel like he's getting better a week over a week.
And Brady, I know you at least have been around
Justin like Justin if you've been around him, awesome, Like
he he screams Pittsburgh Steeler, you know what I mean,
Like when you're around him, like that's like his person,
like like just the way he carries himself. It's it's
(27:56):
he's a Steeler, you know. And so he fits in
so many different ways, you know. And I just I
think this has become a trickier situation as the weeks
have gone on, because Justin is improving.
Speaker 6 (28:07):
We go over a week now. Is he perfect?
Speaker 10 (28:09):
No?
Speaker 6 (28:09):
But he's a good fit for what they can do.
And I think we have to go back and look
in the.
Speaker 10 (28:13):
History, look at the history of the offensive coordinator there,
Arthur Smith. He resurrected Ryan Tannehill's career in Tennessee. And
I know that they feel like they could probably do
even more with Fields than they did with Tannehill.
Speaker 6 (28:26):
And they went to an AFC Championship game with Tannehill.
Speaker 10 (28:29):
So again, like that's not saying Fields is suddenly Patrick
Mahomes or Josh Allen or anything like that. But the
Steelers know how they need to win with the team
that they have, and Justin's a really good fit for
what they're doing right now. And they feel like Justin's
going to continue to get better. And you know, I
think as he continues to improve, the risk increases that
(28:50):
if you pull them out.
Speaker 6 (28:51):
Of there, then you're screwing up a good thing.
Speaker 10 (28:53):
So I think it was telling what Mike Tomlin said
during the said earlier in the week that this thing
like that that he wasn't going to make a decision
because he didn't have to. That's not what the way
he was talking a month ago. A month ago he said,
Russell Wilson's a starter.
Speaker 6 (29:06):
So you know, it's pretty clear he's leaving this thing
wide open.
Speaker 10 (29:09):
And again, like I think there is a lot of
support for Justin Fields holding onto that job in Pittsburgh.
Speaker 8 (29:14):
I got all, I gotta go ahead, go ahead.
Speaker 5 (29:17):
I got one last question. I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
I know we're up on it, but you mentioned that
you look at Josh Allen as the current front runner
for MVP of the league, right, Yeah. I kind of
felt like we knew what their ceiling was coming into
this season, and maybe people might have been trending down
on the Bills.
Speaker 5 (29:35):
What do you like.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
I know we had the conversation about earlier what his comments,
and he had to clear them up as it applied
to Stephan Diggs and this and that is this is
this Buffalo team better? Is Josh Allen better this year?
And do you equate that to the departure of Stephan Diggs?
Speaker 6 (29:51):
Yeah?
Speaker 10 (29:51):
And I don't want this to come off as a
shot at days, because it's not. But you know, I
remember when the Patriots traded Randy Moss in twenty ten,
and there was a belief that within the Patriots that
it was going to make Brady better, and they felt
like Brady was at his best when he was playing
point guard when when you know, like all five skill
(30:11):
guys were alive at every route right, and when Tom
didn't need to look over every three or four plays
to like make sure that Randy was okay, right, And
that's not a shot Rainny Moss one of the greatest
receivers of all time. You know, it was just they
felt like Brady was going to be better if you
took that off of his shoulders and you just let
(30:32):
him go play quarterback, and he wind up wind up
winning the MVP that year. It had a great, great year,
And I think the dynamic is sort of similar, like
that Josh can go out there and he doesn't have
to worry like have I gotten the ball to staffs
in the last four or five plays.
Speaker 6 (30:48):
He can just go and play quarterback.
Speaker 10 (30:49):
And I think you saw that the other night, Like
I don't know, like for my money, and I'm not
a coach or scout, but like, for my money, like
I thought that was as good as he's looked from
the pocket in his career on Monday night, Like the
way he and the Jags aren't a great team right now,
but you know, the way he was operating him back there,
I mean, if he's got that, you know, and on
top of the scary ability to playoff schedule, to make
(31:12):
scrambled plays, to make plays with his legs, like my god.
Speaker 6 (31:15):
Look out, you know.
Speaker 10 (31:17):
So I just think the way he spread the ball around,
you know, eight nine different receivers every game, the way
he's incorporating different people in the offense, they just command
he's got out there. And as Comma goes back to
the conversation I had with him right before the season,
you know, with guys like you know, Michah Hyde and
Jordan Ployer and Shadavious White, you know, and Mitch Morris
(31:39):
and obviously Steph himself, all those guys gone like he
sort of felt like he had to go from being
the little brother in the leadership.
Speaker 6 (31:46):
Group to now the big brother.
Speaker 10 (31:48):
And I think you've really seen him take the bull
bull by the horns when it comes to that, and
it's showing as play.
Speaker 8 (31:54):
Hey, Albert, we got like twenty seconds for this response.
Speaker 9 (31:57):
But is Christian mccaffery's in doubt with him having to
go over to Germany and everything for this achilles injury?
Speaker 10 (32:05):
I mean, Brady uh LeVar, My experience is athletes don't
go over to Germany for evaluation. They usually go over
there for treatment.
Speaker 8 (32:12):
Right correct or Octoberfest right, like some beer drinking.
Speaker 6 (32:15):
Yeah, well maybe that too. Maybe after the treatment, you
can you can you can engage in that. Yeah, I
think I think this is a nagging thing.
Speaker 10 (32:24):
I like it sort of reminds me a little bit
of the Andrew Locke thing, when you know, like they
were trying to get ahead of a calf and an ankle,
and they're trying to get ahead of it and they
couldn't figure out.
Speaker 6 (32:33):
Quite how to treat it.
Speaker 10 (32:34):
Like It's sort of sort of feels to me a
little bit like that, not saying it's the same injury
or anything, but I know that Niners felt like, well,
you know, like in week two, well if this is
the NFC title game, then he could go, but we're
going to play it safe with him. And this thing's
just been nagging him. So I think you're putting him
on or IR gave him a chance to go and
seek different solutions that maybe give him a better chance
(32:56):
to stay on the field all the way through December,
January and what they hope will be February.
Speaker 6 (33:01):
I think that's where he's at right.
Speaker 3 (33:02):
Now get him on x at Albert Breers, Senior NFL reporter,
lead content strategist at the MMQB, and you can watch
him later on tonight as part of Amazon's NFL on
Prime coverage.

to be taking notes. We need stories on Jonas.
Speaker 1 (33:28):
I probably won't see him. Maybe you know, he'll retire
to his coffin very early and I won't be able.
Speaker 5 (33:35):
To hang out with him.
Speaker 6 (33:36):
Don't do that, Jonas. I don't want to hear. I
don't want to hear your accounard like Mark.

What is that?
Speaker 5 (35:26):
Sounds incredible, but they're still good.
Speaker 6 (35:28):
Time to find out what's left?
Speaker 2 (35:31):
It's Lee's laugh Jovers.
Speaker 5 (35:33):
Grad Lee, what do we got? Well?
Speaker 7 (35:35):
Guys, if you remember show Hey Otani hitting his fiftieth
home run ball last week, make it putting him in
the fifty to fifty club. The only person to who's
I guess it's not a club, it's an exclusive club,
just to show Hey. But the man who has that ball,
Chris Bolanski's putting it up for auction for five hundred
thousand dollars. But it might be on hold because an
eighteen year old man, well he actually turned eighteen year
(35:56):
old the day of the game, claims he cut the
ball first and then oh Lelansky ripped the ball from
his hands. Now there are pictures, but it's unclear who
really had that first.
Speaker 1 (36:07):
Like that's a scrum, that's that's the fumble underneath the
pal Get better grip.
Speaker 7 (36:12):
Yeah, he ran away after taking the ball away from him.
The Dodgers offered him three hundred thousand dollars, which he rejected,
and he's now putting it up for auction for five
hundred thousand.
Speaker 6 (36:21):
Tang.
Speaker 3 (36:21):
I mean, if it was Tom Brady's home run ball,
you know Robert Kraft would buy it.
Speaker 5 (36:26):
Tang.
Speaker 3 (36:26):
Though it's too bad. I mean, hey, listen, kid, you
gotta you gotta work this out, all right. You either
either you need to stop using straps when you go
to the gym or you need to get on the gas.
But whatever you need to do, you can't let that
historic ball leave your hands and let somebody else run
off and make half.
Speaker 5 (36:44):
A million on it.
Speaker 9 (36:46):
Yeah, I mean, this is how America works, kid, all right.
You don't need to go see a guy or try
to play this whole route next time. Just be better,
be stronger, go rip that ball. Make sure there's no.
Speaker 8 (36:57):
Doubt that it's yours. Brady.
Speaker 4 (36:58):
If that eighteen year old was from Ohio. How would
that have gone?
Speaker 8 (37:02):
Okay, what do you mean you got his ass?
Speaker 5 (37:04):
Case?
Speaker 4 (37:04):
No, no, I'm saying the eighteen year old. Would you
have let that ball go? If he was from Ohio, he.
Speaker 5 (37:09):
Would have whooped his ass. He just told you that.
I just told you.
Speaker 4 (37:12):
I thought you were I think you got to you.
Speaker 1 (37:16):
I gave you the answer like thump time, dump city, tooth,
chip in time, time to take a nail.
Speaker 5 (37:23):
Take a nap, Snoozy woozy, half wheeled from the.
Speaker 4 (37:27):
Fits, a half a half mill in your hand, and
you just let it go away. What a loser.
