Way tied buying should be Fellas it is a football Saturday,
there are some great matchups today, but I'll tell you what,
there are.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Some really really interesting topics to get to.
Speaker 5 (01:40):
We'll talk about a Hall of Fame quarterback that I
had some very strong words about, well, the receiver's position
on his former team. You know, we got to talk
to trade to the Jets with with Devonte Adams, and
I have an interesting question for you guys on that.
We'll get to those topics in the matter of twenty
(02:00):
minutes or so. And but before we get into the
first topic that we're going to talk about, how y'all doing, man,
How y'all feeling man?
Speaker 3 (02:10):
You you know we were good over here. I don't
know how you and the greatest part of the country
when I got clearest guys and Palm Tree, we're.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
Such a hater. This guy's a hater. I don't know,
I don't know how it's better than this.
Speaker 5 (02:23):
Now, come, come, hang out with me for a weekend
and we'll let's see if your remains the same that part.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
That part may make it the greatest part of the country.
Speaker 5 (02:31):
But hey, y'all, come, hey, you a plex, mount up
and come hang with me.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
I think he's, uh, he's stretching it a little bit,
because I have been to Harrisburg.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
I flew into Harrisburg and the airport was so small
I thought I'd walk in the seven eleven and walk
right out.
Speaker 5 (02:51):
I was like, well, didn't flying the State College because
that's even smaller than that one.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
But it's a heading gym, is all I'm gonna tell you. Yes,
come hang out with you boy.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
One day, one of my favorite comments from my guy,
Michael Passes. He says, he, man, I'm from Harrisburg, he said,
I'm from what a bullies get.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Bully, Yeah, what I'm talking about.
Speaker 5 (03:12):
Yeah, but there's a different type of life over here
as well. You know there is you know, this is
where our capital is and all that thing. You know,
all the power players, you know, they hang out here.
But speaking of Pennsylvania and power players, fellas, it looks
as though Russell Wilson is going to get the start
against the Jets. Obviously we'll talk Jets, as I mentioned
(03:33):
in another fifteen minutes or so, but Justin Fields apparently
is now being moved out of the starting position for
this next game after a win.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
So I wanted to ask you guys, as.
Speaker 5 (03:48):
Receivers, when you see a situation like this, I think
back to when they were, you know, the media was
trying to pressure Mike Tomlin into.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
Naming Justin Fields the starter.
Speaker 5 (04:01):
Now bo, we have sound on Mike Tomlin talking about
Justin Fields.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
I don't know if we have that queued up. I
don't know if I asked you for that, but.
Speaker 5 (04:09):
But he basically talked about how Justin Fields has played
very very good football, but not great football, and that
this team needs to play better than than what they've
been playing.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
And it seems as.
Speaker 5 (04:24):
Though coach is looking at at Russell Wilson as possibly
a catalyst, uh for maybe this type of change or spark,
you know, to the offense.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
What do you guys like, how do you guys view it?
Speaker 5 (04:40):
I think that this is maybe it's you know, I
don't I don't question what what Mike Tomlin has done
as a head coach.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
I think he has done a phenomenal job.
Speaker 5 (04:49):
But when you look at a situation like this where
the team is still above five hundred, sure the offense
doesn't look, you know, as dynamic as what people would
want it to be, as they've been hoping for in Pittsburgh.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
But Justin Fields has protected the ball.
Speaker 5 (05:07):
He's given the defense the opportunity to help help these
guys be in a position to win games. And now
he's getting sat down for Russell Wilson. Do you guys
you know, how do you guys see this? There is
this a damaging move for Justin Filds. Does this disrupt
what they have going on as a team by doing this?
Speaker 6 (05:27):
Like?
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Where do you guys fall on this?
Speaker 3 (05:30):
I don't like it at all. I think it's crazy,
to be honest with you. And this is why Mike
Tomlin didn't want to name Justin Fields a starter. He
must have made Russell Wilson a promise for something, because
who does this? They say the most important step four
quarterback is winning y foreign two. Now, if I'm a receiver,
does Russell Wilson give me an opportunity to have more catches?
Speaker 1 (05:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (05:55):
Probably because Justin Fields he scrambles to run, whereas Russell
Wilson scrambled to throw, So that's more opportunities for me
to catch the ball. But I want to win, man,
I want to win. And Justin Fields got so many
first downs with his legs, extra plays, extra snaps, more
(06:15):
opportunities for me to get the ball, but more importantly,
more opportunities for us to win. The Russell Wilson that
we've seen the last two years, has he been better
than Justin Fields? Has it been such a huge difference.
Speaker 5 (06:32):
Statistically, statistically he's been better than Justin Fields.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
No, statistically he's been slightly better. But is it such
a difference to where you say, oh, Justin you got
to sit now, Russell's ready to go.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
No, it hasn't been that big of a difference. Yeah,
he's been slightly better, I.
Speaker 5 (06:50):
Say in the passing. In the passing stat line, he
has been better.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
He has done.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
You you look at Justin Fields, the first downs that
Justin Fields gets with his legs, We're not if we
go total.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
Guards and you gotta wipe in mind, you gotta keep
in mind this Steelers offensive line has played good at times.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
No, No, Ben Deelers offensive line is banged up.
Speaker 5 (07:14):
Yes, it has not been They have not been consistent
in protection at all.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
When you're giving up pressure like they will. We're gonna
see how Russell Wilson gets out of that. Me personally,
I don't like it. I was tard. I was told
early in the week that Russell Wilson was the starter
from a player like, yeah, Russell starting. I was like wow,
really he's like, yeah, he's starting. We're not supposed to
any Well.
Speaker 5 (07:34):
How was the reaction, like how what was the reaction TJ.
Was it positive or was it like skeptical?
Speaker 1 (07:40):
Yeah? I think it was. I think it's a risky move. Think.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
I think it was like, you know, it kind of
is what it is type of thing. But I don't
think anybody in that locker room be skeptical because Mike
Tomlin is the leader of leaders.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Sure absolutely, and that's why.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
But this here it better worked because I don't care
how great of a leader you are. Eventually, if you're
making decisions that people don't like, uh, you're gonna hear
it or you're gonna see it. And so me personally,
I don't like it. If they were two and four,
three and three, you're four and two, you're tired for
first in the division. Why would you make this move?
(08:17):
Hopefully Russell Wilson can do something that justifies like.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
Ah, this will take place.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
But hey, we get to see Russell Wilson make his
debut with the Standers, and we get to see Davonte
make his debut with the Jets.
Speaker 1 (08:33):
Who we're gonna talk about Davonte?
Speaker 5 (08:35):
But uh, Stretch, you would know this this situation better
than anyone, and possibly why Tomlin is thinking the way
he's thinking.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
What what is your what's your take on it?
Speaker 4 (08:46):
I gotta say I'm surprised. I mean even though you know,
I've been a part of that. I was a part
of the organization for seven years, understanding the culture of
the organization and and and in the you know, the mindset.
Uh you know how of how Mike Tomlin, you know,
coaches and teachers, teaches his guys to play football. Mike
(09:07):
Tomlin is a is a field kind of guy. So
that's why it's surprising to me for him to, uh,
you know, to take Justin Fields out of the start
was just as a quarterback and named Russell Wilson because
it's like TJ just said, they're still tied for first
in the division.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
They're foreign too.
Speaker 4 (09:24):
If anybody would have said that, if Justin Fields was
named the starter at the beginning of the season and
they will falling two after week six, you will say,
you know what, we'll take it off the top based
off of what Justin Fields has been able to do
while he was a quarterback for the Chicago Bears. And listen, Jake,
you said it's Russell Wilson's debuty. What if he goes
(09:46):
out there he doesn't play well, what do you do now?
Speaker 1 (09:49):
If you're Mike Tomlin, it's a hard position to be
at right.
Speaker 5 (09:53):
Know what happens if he plays well, but if he
plays poorly, how much time does he get?
Speaker 1 (09:59):
How much time does he get? I know? And I
gotta be honest with you.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
I don't really think it's a significant upgrade for Russell
Wilson to taking over the starting position, except for in
the passing game.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
I mean, he's only thrown five touchdown.
Speaker 4 (10:11):
We will throw the ball, yep, he's only dust and
Field has only thrown five touchdowns won interceptions, and George
Picking has He has zero receiving touchdowns, only three hundred
and sixty three yards on a year on twenty six catches.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
In six games.
Speaker 4 (10:26):
So if you're looking at it from that point of view,
I get it.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
I understand.
Speaker 4 (10:32):
I want to keep my young thoroughbread wide receiver and
George Pickens Junior happy. They have to be able to
find a way to integrate him into this offense. Old
he can be more explosive defensively. We know what they
bring defensive they ranked second lead, they're only giving up
fourteen points. And what Justin Fields has done, like I
said at the beginning of the season, put us in
(10:55):
situations that win football games and don't turn the football,
don't turn it over, and that is exactly what he's done.
So from the standpoint of him named Russell Wilson the
starter starting the six games four and two, and and
and and putting.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
Him on a bitch, I don't really agree with it.
Speaker 4 (11:18):
But there's something there that Mike Tomlin sees that we
don't know because he's a field kind of coach that
made him make.
Speaker 3 (11:27):
Could it be possibly, I was just thinking about this
as you were talking.
Speaker 1 (11:31):
Could it be.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
Mike Tomlin is thinking long term that yeah, we can
win certain games with Justin Fields, but we can't get
to where we want to.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
Go playing style of football.
Speaker 5 (11:41):
Yes, that has to be what it isn't I don't
think at all, because if you're talking.
Speaker 4 (11:48):
Long term, then none of these guys are there for
the long term. This is the one year of contract
for both of these guys.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
But aren't we talking long term for this season? Right?
To take him out and do this this season?
Speaker 5 (12:02):
Yeah, okay for this season, because you're at forn too
right now. If you're at Foreign two right now, you're saying, okay,
we were able to get the foreign two playing this
way if we add more offense, more more production in
our passing game. That because the way they're playing right now,
I think TJ, you're right, it's the same. It's the
same as any other year. I don't think they make
(12:22):
it too far. Not in the AFC. AFC is too competitive,
too much offense. You need more offense.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
But this is your defense.
Speaker 4 (12:30):
But this is what the Pittsburgh Stillers have been over
the last ten years.
Speaker 5 (12:34):
Yeah, but y'all been much better on offense, plex y'all have.
I mean, if you think about the offenses you guys
have had when the defenses were seemingly leading the way.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
There have been.
Speaker 4 (12:45):
But but we're talking about ever since Ben Roethlisberger was correct, Well.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
That's right and losing pouncing. They don't have a franchise quarterback.
Speaker 5 (12:54):
They don't, they do not, But do you have a
quarterback that can give you enough offense to be able
to make a legitimate run in the AFC.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
When you say long term, you're not talking about next
year or the next couple of years.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
You're talking about this season long term. This season, yes,
this season, playoffs yeah, long term.
Speaker 4 (13:13):
I believe the same way I believe after Russell Wilson
starts this weekend, the Pittsburgh still Is will become a
two quarterback football team.
Speaker 5 (13:24):
I mean they might have to unless Russell Wilson cooks
up like some real, real great gumbo and it tastes
good and this good feels good. Otherwise, what else? What
else is there? You don't have to It's going to
be a due quarterback system. Well, speaking of quarterbacks and
making decisions, we're going to get into this whole. Davante Adams,
(13:45):
as we heard TJ mentioned earlier in the segment, because
the Steelers are playing the New York Jets, Davonte adams
soft tissue hamstring issue seems to have held up with
with the trade taking place.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
They call it the New York Jets.
Speaker 5 (13:58):
I'm going to where I want to go treatment that
has healed his hamstring.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
We'll get into that and a whole lot more. This
is Up on Game. It's TJ.
Speaker 5 (14:06):
Huschman, Isadas, Plexico burs I'm LeVar Arrington. We'll be right
back as Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in

Speaker 1 (14:23):
Where at, Where they at? Where they at? You want
to no noing around me?
Speaker 5 (14:30):
And THEO why must I feel this way?
Speaker 1 (14:35):
Must be Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 5 (14:37):
Okay, well we're going to talk about that, and we
want to talk about a Hall of Fame quarterback that
had some very strong criticisms towards the receivers of his
former team.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
We'll get to that in a matter of eight minutes
or so.
Speaker 5 (14:52):
But right now, fellas, we are back in the Up
on Game Live tire Rack dot Com studio. It's TJ,
It's Plexico Burds, It's LeVar Arrington and fellas, you know what.
We were talking to Vonte Adams in the first segment.
And if you guys hear a lot of background noise,
it's because I'm at my favorite sports bar, uh in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
(15:14):
I'm at my people is at Zimbi. So you want
to come check me out, Come come down to zombies.
I'm watching the football games and I'm gona have some
wings in the LeVar Island or two or three or
four today. Anyway, fellas, let's let's talk about this this
trade that took place.
Speaker 1 (15:28):
Uh. Davonte Adams said during the week.
Speaker 5 (15:30):
He felt a certain type of way about, you know,
what was taking place in Las Vegas, and well, let's
just listen to him and hear what he has to say.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
And then I got a.
Speaker 5 (15:42):
Few questions, one serious question. I want to ask you
all about this trade that took place. Here's Vonte Adams
on him being traded to the Jets.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
It's been a roller coaster, for sure. It's a weird.
Speaker 7 (15:52):
It's a weird thing to say, you know that that
I'm happy, but you know, obviously it was time for
a change. And uh, you know, this whole thing kind
of trains inspired a little a little weird, but it's
at the end of the day, I'm you know, we're
in a better place. I think that Raiders are in
a better place as well, and you know, everybody can
kind of move on.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
Were you able to tell the Raiders, hey, I really
want to go to the Jets essentially?
Speaker 7 (16:12):
Yeah, I mean, that's that's where it started. I mean,
all the fans, everybody who's associated the Raiders, they see everything,
they see, you know, a trade demand, and they just
think it's like he wants out, he's quitting on the team,
when it's sometimes you got to make it easier and
get to a situation that allows you to be yourself.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
I mean, what happened. He did quit on the team.
Speaker 5 (16:34):
I mean he did quite Yeah, all right, but but
let me ask you guys this question. With that being said,
if y'all recall what's it the summer when Aaron Rodgers
saw Davante Adams somewhere or something took place and Aaron
Rodgers said to the media, I look forward to being
reunited with with Davonte soon. Like it was something very
(16:57):
definitive in the way that he sit it, and it
just led me.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
You know, we had the debate. The debate has been.
Speaker 5 (17:05):
You know, going on about the Robert Salah firing and
Aaron Rodgers goes on television, he tells everybody that he
has nothing to do with it, there's no influence from
him that he can gather, and that he just plays
football on whatever Woody Johnson decides to do, he does.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
And then this trade takes place.
Speaker 5 (17:26):
Basically a week later after him, you know, after Robert
Salah being relieved of his duties. It just looks like
to me that Aaron Rodgers is dealing as the person
that's running the show for the New York Jets. And
first I would ask, do you guys, like, how do
you see it? Do you see that as being true?
(17:46):
There's no way of really getting around that now that
Aaron Rodgers is indeed the one that's making the decisions
in terms of leading and guiding the decisions of what's
being done. And then I'll ask my second question after
I hear from y'all on that.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
Man, it was just a matter of time really, the Raiders,
and we all got a personal relationship with ap all
three of us. The Raiders, they got the worst quarterback
situation in the National Football League. Man, they have the
worst quarterback situation in the league. And so it was
(18:21):
just a matter of time before DeVante wanted out. When
it came out that Ap had liked the post talking
about Davonte wanted to be traded or he should be traded.
It was already in the works behind the scenes. It
just hadn't really come out. And when that happened, it
was like, oh, yes, hamstring is hurt. His hamstring ain't
(18:41):
being hurt. Wasn't hurt.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
No, No, he just wanted to be traded. And so.
Speaker 3 (18:48):
I felt like Buffalo was the best situation because at
the end of the day, the Jets are still going
to have to get Garrett Wilson involved a ton, but
the Jets are going to have to be better.
Speaker 1 (18:59):
Period. I believe control. I believe that period.
Speaker 3 (19:03):
I believe the Jets are going to win Tomorrow Monday.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
It's a Monday night. It is Sunday night or Monday night,
Monday night.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
Yeah, they'll win. They'll win this game. They'll they'll beat
the Steelers. I just feel like.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
These I think it's fools. Go as Plexico is not.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
The Jets are going They're gonna be I'm concerned about
their defense with Robert Salad not being there, but offensively
they look pretty good against the Bills with Hacket not
calling the plays. It's just the thing with Davante is
he knew once David Carr got up out of there, what.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
Were the Raiders gonna do at the quarterback?
Speaker 3 (19:41):
But he knew when to come on, bro, when you
when it's garnerment, you know, disrespect or ain't O'Connell.
Speaker 1 (19:48):
We're about backup backups? Like backup backups? What is it
gonna look like?
Speaker 3 (19:52):
And so I think it was wishful thinking on his
partner Raiders part that things would be okay. I hope
it does worked out. I believe the Jets will be better.
Him and Aaron Rodgers have a chemistry that if there's
any gray area, hey you remember we used to do
this in Green Bay?
Speaker 1 (20:09):
Yeah, running like this? Oh got you? So that that familiarity.
Speaker 4 (20:13):
Will help and that's gonna save the Jets season. I
don't know if it's gonna save their season.
Speaker 1 (20:17):
They gonna win. They gonna win this game against the Steeters.
I bet that. I bet you there too.
Speaker 5 (20:22):
I think there are two or two or three games
better than what they were before they got him.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
You know what, you know, you know what I love
tell you man?
Speaker 4 (20:32):
I really do you know everything that he's been able
to do and accomplish and the young man that is,
and you know the way he plays the game of football,
and not to mention, you know, he's a he's a
great one, seven after me seventeen.
Speaker 1 (20:51):
But U t there, it is there, it is. You
know what, man, He was never hurt man, And I
don't know how to feel about it. He wasn't he
wasn't hurt. He was never hurt. Man.
Speaker 4 (21:01):
You get traded and your jog on the field and
it's like you was never even hurt. He like faked
the injury on his team and he basically bailed on him.
And I don't understand how you can sit here and say,
you know, he was throwing shade at Aaron Rodgers and
he was in Green Bay. He relocates to Las Vegas
(21:22):
to play with his college teammate and Derek Carr, and
it gave him the best opportunity to get to the
Super Bowl, which was a lie because we all know
that Derek Carr was never an elite quarterback in his league.
And he's showing her right now to get down in
New Orleans. Who he understands who Derek he's hurt. Right, well,
(21:43):
he's hurt. He didn't play last week. Doing well, yeah,
doing well last two weeks, I believe. But god, so
so now you you reunited with with Aaron Rodgers. So
now the spotlight of New York has already as it
is what it is. I mean, you're talking about scrutiny
(22:04):
and everything being over generalized and what the media does
and how they you know, uh, you know, attack stories.
Speaker 1 (22:14):
This right here is going to be the kettle the pop.
Speaker 4 (22:18):
Balling over right here if the New York Jets do
not win when DeVante Adams joins his offense, and it's
kind of almost like, you know, now we've got Davante Adams.
Now now we're a good football team.
Speaker 1 (22:31):
I don't. I don't believe it's going to be that easy.
I don't either. Everybody has to fail to realize Number one,
that Aaron Rodders is no longer that Aaron Rodders that
we knew seven eight years ago. He's not that kind of.
Speaker 4 (22:44):
Quarterback he was dealing last forty years old, he was
dealing last week. He's not the elite Aaron Rodgers that
he was five years ago.
Speaker 1 (22:54):
Point blank. Deal with that. So now offense and headed
lot offensively. He's getting hit a lot more because he
can't got the way.
Speaker 4 (23:03):
That's why he's not twenty twenty eight, no more, board
thirty nine going on forty.
Speaker 1 (23:10):
I mean, let's just keep it real. He can't.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
You know what, you know, when you get older, you're
playing this game in your mind telling you go.
Speaker 1 (23:17):
Do this right now, my mind telling me, yeah, you're
about that way. You guys exactly what I'm talking about.
Speaker 4 (23:23):
But him joining his team in his offense, I really
don't see them going out here tomorrow Monday, and and
DEM's going forty points. It's not going to be that
kind of transformation for this offense and for Aaron Rodgers.
I just hope that he has everything that he's needed.
(23:46):
He has one of the best offenses in all of football.
I believe that is a top ten, top five talented
wide receiver position.
Speaker 1 (23:56):
You have.
Speaker 4 (23:58):
Breest Hall, who I think is going and now you
add Davante Adams. Excuse say that the New York Jets
had one of the probably the best defense before the
season started on paper, but you know.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
What, right number two right now? No, the stillers right
number twoe defense, Not that they're they're top they're like
top five defense.
Speaker 4 (24:23):
They should be winning the football games, period, point blank.
Speaker 1 (24:27):
They should be. They should be. Well, here's the interesting thing.
Speaker 5 (24:30):
I think what you're both saying is is listen, Davante
Adams he comes in. I think we all know it's
because of Aaron rodgers influence on it. I think the
spotlight that you guys are talking about, and we're going
to get an update after this, but just for my mind,
just me thinking out loud, I think the spotlight now
becomes so much bigger on Aaron Rodgers. And if this
(24:53):
thing goes right, Aaron Rodgers is going to get all
of the credit. I don't think anybody else is going
to get it. If it goes wrong, Aaron Rodgers is
going to get all of the credit. And I don't
think that it's going to be even close. Like Woody
Johnson might get some of it because he's the owner.
But I think that the spotlight with all of the
things that have taken place along with the firing of
head coach and the Adams Aaron Rodgers fired him, I
(25:17):
mean this fixes the team.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
Man.
Speaker 5 (25:20):
I think I think we're going to find out what,
Like it's a possibility that Aaron Rodgers could put a
a dent, a serious dent, a serious stain on his
career legacy.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
If this doesn't go away, that that it looks like
the Steelers and Russell Wilson on much I could be
a rude awakening.
Speaker 5 (25:41):
That could be a rude awakening because they do have
a defense that that can make it very difficult for
for them to even get the ball to Davante Adams
or anybody else. And Brees Hall he's going to have
his work cutout for him against that defense as well.
Let's get an update from Isaac loh and kron I
love what you got. On the other side of the break,
we're going to talk a little hollow fame QB and
(26:01):
what he had to say. But what you got, You're
a Hall of Famer in my.
Speaker 8 (26:04):
Book, indeed everybody's book.
Speaker 1 (26:07):
Thank you so much. ACT.
Speaker 9 (26:09):
It's been an eventful morning already and day in the
National Football League because the Cleveland Browns have just officially
activated four time Pro Bowl running back Nick Chubb off
of injured reserve.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
Chub.
Speaker 9 (26:20):
Yeah, he suffered a knee injury Week two of last season,
has been out ever since then, So get it.
Speaker 8 (26:25):
That's right. He'll now make his season debut tomorrow against the.
Speaker 3 (26:29):
Cincinnati answer against US, he wanted to come back against
US one more game out that.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
The defense to do it against.
Speaker 9 (26:39):
You go looking at the uh, looking at the exact
quote here. I had this date circled on my calendar
because of T. J. Hushman Zada.
Speaker 2 (26:48):
Yeah, let's face it, You're an inspirational character in the
mind of Nick Chubb.
Speaker 9 (26:54):
Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon announced rookie receiver Marvin
Harrison Junior has cleared concussion protocol. He will play Monday
night against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Pittsburgh Steelers downgraded
safety Demonte Casey to questionable for Sunday Nights game against
the New York Jets due to an ankle injury. In
college football, Miami fell behind Louisville seven to three, but
(27:18):
the Hurricanes have just scored a touchdown on a twenty
seven yard pass from cam Ward to Jacolby George so
now with the extra point, they have a ten to
seven lead at Louisville with five h five left to
play in the first quarter. Tenth rank Clemson and Virginia
tied at three late in the first quarter. Number sixteen
Indiana up seven to nothing over Nebraska, six minutes to
(27:38):
go in the first quarter.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
Indianna ain't playing a route.
Speaker 8 (27:41):
I know, look at that.
Speaker 1 (27:42):
They're pretty good this year. Undefeated.
Speaker 9 (27:44):
Yeah, they're trying to improve to seven to oh today
and four to oh on the Big ten and nineteenth
rank Missouri up three to nothing over Auburn with three
twenty four left in the first Finally coming up tonight
at seven thirty Eastern, Number one Texas hosting fifth RANC Georgia,
but the Bulldogs will be without a key member of
their program. The Atlanta Journal Constitution reporting that Uga eleven,
(28:08):
the Bulldog's mascot, did not make the trip because, according
to his owner and I quote, he is really young
and immature and crazy as hell, and this.
Speaker 8 (28:19):
Game just wasn't a good fit. I get it back
to you.
Speaker 1 (28:23):
That is not that is not a good old man.
Speaker 5 (28:25):
If you ask me, you better bring Aga the eleventh,
the eleventh. He's the eleventh, the eleventh. Yep, oh man,
that's stick city all the listen. That's bad oldmen if
you ask me. But speaking of bad oldmen's fellas, I appreciate.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
That that update.
Speaker 5 (28:39):
I love and we are in the tyreq dot com
studio with TJ. Huschmanzada and Plexico Burus Fellas. The legendary
Troy Aikman chimed in. He weighed in on what he's
feeling about his beloved Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (28:56):
I would love to get y'all's opinion on what he
had to say.
Speaker 5 (29:00):
Here's what the legendary quarterback had to say about the
receivers and their route running for the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 6 (29:08):
I think the routes are terrible. I think they run
terrible routes, and I've thought that beyond this year, and
I think CD's got to improve and his route running.
And as a quarterback, if you're not certain where guys
are going to be consistently, it's hard, it's hard to
play the position. And so that's what I see. I
see guys lazy coming off the line of scrimmage. Sometimes
they sometimes they run. Usually if they do, it's because
(29:30):
they're anticipating they're going to get the football in that play.
But if they're not, they don't, and it all ties together,
and so I'm not impressed with that part of it.
I've just finished watching the Baltimore Ravens because I have
them this week. You put on a film of theirs
and watch their receivers run routes and they come off
the football and so to San Francisco's Green Bays and others.
(29:52):
But it's hard to play the position if you're not
certain how guys are going to run routes or where
they're going to be. And I'm not speaking for Dak.
Dak may say, hey, I think everything's amazing, but as
a former quarterback watching it, it's got to get a
lot better.
Speaker 5 (30:06):
He is speaking for Dak, and he just nas ethert
these boys. If you ask me, if you have a
Hall of Famer and a guy who is basically become
legendary and calling games as well, and that's his prognosis,
and that is his take on what you're doing.
Speaker 1 (30:25):
I don't know about you guys, y'all receivers, but I'd be.
Speaker 5 (30:28):
Embarrassed if a former guy the team I'm playing for
and was a legend of that team came out and said,
I'm watching the film on.
Speaker 1 (30:36):
These guys and this is what I see. What say you, guys? Man?
Speaker 3 (30:40):
When I heard this comment, you know there's quarterbacks that
think this is a good route when it's really a
bad route, and this is a bad route when it's
really a good quarterbacks want you to do certain things
that as a receiver is just not right. I'll say that.
So I wouldn't look at the all twenty two myself
like Levin. Let me see what Troy Ben's talking. Okay, okay,
(31:03):
and he has a he has a point, he does
he does. I'm not gonna say they're terrible route runners.
I'm not gonna say that. What it this is what's
in me and Plexico have talked about.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
This is.
Speaker 3 (31:23):
These receivers train with so many people, and some of
the people that they train with, some may be good,
some may not. But it's a product of some may
not know what they're doing. And they see certain guys
do X, Y and Z and they mimic that, but
you don't know why they're doing this. And so there's
(31:43):
certain points where you gotta just get into your route.
You gotta run all this dancing because when the quarterback
says set hunt, that ball is snapped, the d line
is rushing.
Speaker 1 (31:56):
You gotta get in. You gotta get into your ruck.
Speaker 3 (31:58):
These d linemen are better than that for and so
these dudes are getting after the quarterback. You can't take
all that time that Troyman is talking about. And so
to me, that's coaching. Uh, the coaches on that staff
got to say, listen the timing. These are timing routes.
You don't have time to do this. You got to
(32:20):
get into the route because the quarterback expects you to
be there when his back foot hits.
Speaker 1 (32:25):
But a smart player would understand that.
Speaker 3 (32:27):
And so to me, it's upon Ceedee Lamb to fix it.
It's when I say fix it, not his part of
everybody else, because they are going to go how he goes.
They are going to play how he plays.
Speaker 1 (32:40):
It's the only weapon they got.
Speaker 3 (32:42):
And so but those young guys are going to follow him.
They're gonna follow him.
Speaker 4 (32:45):
They're going to follow they have to who who they
have to when you're the league dog or if you
got a couple of dudes that are bona fire players,
that's what it's thinking. This guy has led to National
Football League in receptions last year.
Speaker 1 (33:00):
So don't look good so far this year? So is
he is he not the player that he was last year?
Speaker 3 (33:06):
You know he's still he's still He's still the same
city offense is struggling. Listen City City CD Lambs routes
aren't terrible at all. They aren't terrible at all. There's
just a process of you know how so many option
rounds play, so you know, you come off the ball slow,
you're trying to see what the that's what that's what
is going on.
Speaker 1 (33:25):
You just got to speed it up a little bit.
Speaker 4 (33:26):
When we had Eli Manner on the show, he said
that he don't think that Travis Kels has run a.
Speaker 1 (33:31):
Route yet, a real route.
Speaker 4 (33:34):
They finding a way to give him the football. It's
being on the same page.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
It is.
Speaker 4 (33:40):
It's about being on the same page. But number one,
this offensive line is no longer what it used to be,
not elite. Uh try tryon Smith, Tyron Smith, Frederick retired,
so they have three brand new offensive linemens on this
on this on this team, number one, Dak is not
(34:03):
really playing the kind of football that he played last season.
He's under pressure from the offensive line and when the
quarterback doesn't have time to throw the football, everything looks bad.
So if he had time to deliver the football and
get the get the ball to see thee Lamb and
these other wide receivers, the routes don't look that bad.
(34:25):
But when you don't have time to get to get
the wide receiver the ball, what do your routes turn into?
You know what, We're trying to find ways to get
open go here, go here, find this whole scramble dramble.
And now they're telling the defensive backs plaster the plaster
the wide receivers. If he gets outside the pocket, the
(34:45):
pocket is not clean for Dak. So it makes the
wide receivers look bad. And look, listen, Michael, Michael everyone
was at wasn't a great route runner, but he had
a Troy Aikman had a great office.
Speaker 1 (34:57):
Line in front of him. So had it.
Speaker 4 (35:00):
That made Michael Irvin and all these guys that they're
all in the Hall of Fame now.
Speaker 1 (35:05):
And they had options though you had Harper, you had
Nova Jack. Yeah, you had options right offensive line. So
I've played very many options.
Speaker 4 (35:13):
It starts Dak fron Scott for Dak Prescott in this offense. Man,
if you don't have time to get the wide rob
receivers the football, everything looks bad offensively.
Speaker 1 (35:25):
M hmm.
Speaker 5 (35:25):
That's plex Coe burst, it's TJ. Hushman's oude. I'm LeVar
Arrington listen. On the other side of the break, we're
gonna talk Detroit Lions. Are they still a contender after
the devastating loss of their best defensive player. We'll talk
about that. This is Up on Game. It's Fox Sports Radio.
Will be right back, all right, all right, welcome back
(35:46):
into the show.
Speaker 1 (35:49):

post it right after we get off the air. Fellas,
before we head out of this first hour, wanted to
throw it out at you guys, how important is one player?
Speaker 1 (36:31):
Now?
Speaker 5 (36:31):
People that know about the Steelers would say, when you
lose a guy like TJ Watt, you see the results
and the team go a little south.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
They're not very good when he's not on the field.
Speaker 5 (36:45):
Has Aiden Hutchinson Has he established himself enough with the
Detroit Lions where we could actually say that the season
could be tremendously altered without his presence out there on
the field.
Speaker 1 (37:01):
Absolutely, he's leading the league in sacks.
Speaker 5 (37:04):
I mean he was, he was a shoe and he
was I mean he was on his way to being
the defensive player of the year, on.
Speaker 3 (37:10):
His way leading the leagues and sacks. He obviously was
your best pass rusher. And now he's out for the season.
Unless they make the Super Bowl, there there's a slight
chance that he could uh.
Speaker 5 (37:23):
Which I think that's a bad idea for him to
do that. I mean, for everybody out there was a
broken tibia that took place on on a sack that
or play he was making in the game, so broken.
Speaker 3 (37:35):
With when you're that young, you don't want to risk
risk that butt. Him being out can impact fibia.
Speaker 1 (37:43):
I believe the season.
Speaker 3 (37:45):
So to answer that question, yeah, I truly believe they
lose this game.
Speaker 1 (37:50):
They need to find a way.
Speaker 3 (37:53):
If they lose this game and they can't get pressure
on Sam Darnold and the Vikings quarterback. They need to
find a way to trade for her, soign Reddick. And
so this is the way the game works. Man, our
pass rush ain't looking good. There's a pass rusher on
the market, a pass rusher who I believe completely misplayed
(38:14):
this situation.
Speaker 1 (38:15):
Oh my god, terrible, terrible.
Speaker 3 (38:16):
I don't know whose decision it was to set out
to do that, like you chasing money and you losing money.
Where I come from and we call that hustling backwards.
Speaker 1 (38:28):
Tell them where you're from, TJ.
Speaker 3 (38:30):
We're not doing that. So yeah, it's gonna affect them.
I believe it will, no doubt about it.
Speaker 4 (38:39):
I played against uh you know Dan Campbell and uh,
what's the guy's name? But Aaron Glenn, I played against him.
If you know anything about the De Trunk lines defense,
they play based defense eighty percent of the snaps.
Speaker 1 (38:58):
So what that What that tells me?
Speaker 4 (39:01):
And you guys know that they are depending on this
rud to get to the quarterback. So now it affects
the play calling of Aaron Glenn. Now he can't depend
on that base defense and play and get to the
quarterback with Ady Hutchesons because you no longer have him.
So now you're gonna have to resort to some nickel
(39:23):
and some dime. So now some of these young guys,
your second and your second and third best corners, they.
Speaker 1 (39:28):
Gotta play football now. So it's gonna afflect.
Speaker 4 (39:31):
It's gonna affect it from a play calling standpoint, And
how do you recreate or reproduce the budget the production
that Hutcherson had.
Speaker 1 (39:42):
You're not going to be able to do that.
Speaker 4 (39:44):
So they're gonna have to find out a way defensively,
Aaron glenn and this defense to continue to get pressure
on the quarterback and play defense.
Speaker 1 (39:53):
I don't think they're going to be playing a lot
of base.
Speaker 4 (39:55):
Defense anymore because of his injury, but it definitely affects
a team, and I don't think they're gonna be the
same team moving forward.
Speaker 5 (40:03):
M Yeah, I don't see how they could be the
same team moving forward. But we'll have to see if
Aaron glennon company can figure out how to fill that
boyd probably an unfeelable boy. But can they still have success.
That's gonna be the question. This is our one up
on game. It's in the books. We're gonna take a
quick break and on the other side, we're gonna talk
legendary moments. We're gonna talk Kevin Stefanski and a whole
(40:25):
lot more. Stay locked in it's up on game Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (40:29):
Will be right back
