Gonna say dull but mattresses. What is there best?

Speaker 4 (01:17):
My best guess is that's.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Where Lea slept or Lorena or Lorena, which one is it?
Or somebody is it other?

Speaker 6 (01:27):
No, it's it's mine.

Speaker 4 (01:29):
I think Loredo's got a little bit of it. So
you came in after the party? Yeah, exactly what time
was the party?

Speaker 6 (01:37):
Three to six? I got here about seven thirty?

Speaker 4 (01:40):
And you start your shift at what time? Who was
the producer on?

Speaker 5 (01:46):
While you were on? You were able to sleep?

Speaker 6 (01:50):
Yeah? I know, I was in the other studio.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
I want to know.

Speaker 6 (01:53):
I just brought it in here for this shift. So
in the commercial breaks, I go down and I.

Speaker 7 (01:57):
Just go, oh, okay, I can't do that, Like I
would not be able to like shut off, get back up,
you know, shut off a game, get just It would
be too much.

Speaker 6 (02:09):
Once I fell asleep, though, while I was over.

Speaker 4 (02:11):
There in the back, you did actually follow asleep?

Speaker 6 (02:14):
I don't think I did. It was really cold. I
got really.

Speaker 5 (02:17):
Cold, and it's like there's bats in the here.

Speaker 4 (02:20):
There's coaches and roaches. Yeah, like, where was the holiday party?
How far away from here? Is it?

Speaker 6 (02:29):
Right across the street. It's in the Sherman Oaks Galleria.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
Oh, okay, Oh, I mean Joins, way didn't you attend?

Speaker 5 (02:38):
What was your reason?

Speaker 4 (02:38):
Well, I had to work?

Speaker 5 (02:39):
Oh yeah, he was doing radio. I had to work.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
Hold on, hold on, what time you have to work?

Speaker 5 (02:45):
Yesterday?

Speaker 4 (02:45):
So I worked until two and then I had to
prepare work.

Speaker 5 (02:51):
So you worked until too and after Yeah, were you here?

Speaker 4 (02:56):
No?

Speaker 5 (02:57):
It was not here.

Speaker 4 (02:57):
I will working from home.

Speaker 5 (03:00):
Oh so you were home.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
On So you're home and you could have easily went
to the holiday part. So I'll take you guys through
the afternoon.

Speaker 5 (03:05):
All right, how do you go to how do you
not go to the holiday party?

Speaker 4 (03:09):
But we'll see if you guys can relate to this.
You probably can't listen.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
Why can't you be relatable? And why can't you be
a company man goes to holiday.

Speaker 5 (03:15):
Let's see if we can relate to you.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
So worked and did radio with the great Fred Rogan
on the Blowtours and five seven l Sports done by
two o'clock. And then afterwards I got a quick bite
because I had been fasting up to that point. Again,
you guys would know. So I fasted up to that point,
had a little bite there, and then I started preparing
for this.

Speaker 5 (03:36):
What did you eat? Eggs? That was it.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
Yeah, hard boiled or no, no, scrambled, scrambled, scrambled, a
little bit running, not too dry.

Speaker 5 (03:44):
Yeah, really very good.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
Yeah with geez no no cheese, no cheese.

Speaker 5 (03:49):
Why would you want that? Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
I've worked with him long enough to know when he
does all this. Hey, so real quick you prepared for
the show? That took you I don't know, probably fifteen
thirty minutes.

Speaker 5 (03:57):
No no, no, no, no no.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
And by the time, like you're notes, my notes and
all that. Yeah, piece together, piece together a little bit
of the Saturday show. It did take a while to
go over, Levars.

Speaker 5 (04:10):
That was take a while.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
Really ate up a big chunk of the afternoon. Okay, yeah,
Lee was Lee was doing a bunch of research for your.

Speaker 5 (04:17):
Notes on this. Good Lee.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
And then but by the time I got done with that,
it was already into the party, and there was traffic,
and my wife was leaving, so I was going to
be with my son, and I didn't think showing up.
What did the party start again?

Speaker 5 (04:31):
Three? And what time did it end? Six o'clock? Come on, Jo,
how was.

Speaker 4 (04:37):
The party so early in the day.

Speaker 5 (04:41):
That's a good question. It always is around that time.

Speaker 8 (04:42):
I think they're trying to get a lot of the
later shows that crew in before their show start.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
Because it's happy hour prices.

Speaker 5 (04:50):
That's true. What are we talking about here?

Speaker 1 (04:53):
Yeah, it would be cheaper to have it time, So
I think I think Lingard told me that it used
to be like a black tie, bow tie affair, like
done really like high end in what eighties?

Speaker 5 (05:05):
I don't know how long ago was that.

Speaker 4 (05:08):
It's like the die Hard party, right, how long ago
talking about here?

Speaker 5 (05:11):
I don't know long years ago.

Speaker 4 (05:14):
But yeah, they said they would get at hotels, they'd
have like banquet rooms, and.

Speaker 5 (05:21):
So people was bound hotels.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
That was before us. That was well before us, well
before Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
Like dress up to go on a plane. You could
smoke cigarettes on a plane. That was like that was
back then?

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Is that crazy? When I was first flying, you could
smoke cigarettes on the plane. They had to smoke an
area of a plane, or if you were in first
class you could smoke by the way.

Speaker 4 (05:46):
You'd probably rather deal with that than that slobby or
sitting next to earlier?

Speaker 1 (05:50):
Why do you keep doing that? What are you talking about?
That s was bro I'm scarred. I'm scarred from that.
I can close my eyes and still that scene, it.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
Did seem like people were skinnier back when they were
smokingboar cigarettes. I'm just throw that out there, so general observation.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
LeVar is sitting on a plane next to John Candy
trying to get back to do the show.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
I don't.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
No, I love John cast.

Speaker 5 (06:19):
Peace took a selfie for real. I should have took itself.

Speaker 4 (06:22):
You think you would have been able to fit that
in the picture.

Speaker 5 (06:27):
I'm not got you sick, sick, still fighting.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
It just reckless, selfish behavior.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
It was reckless. It was so reckless it shouldn't be tolerated. Repulsive.
I'm so repulsed by it. How are you allowed to
just cough and sneeze and have a running nose like
that and and fly? I don't understand it. I just don't.
I don't. I'm like, I'm joking with you I a first,

(06:56):
but now I'm like back to being serious because I
have felt like crap all weekly and that's bull crap, man. Seriously,
how are you able to just bark on somebody? I
mean just, I mean just uncontrollably just coughing and sneezing

(07:16):
and blowing your nose like you know, like the like
you have a whole bunch of used cleanexes sitting right there.
M that's so gruss, bro, It's revolting.

Speaker 5 (07:28):
Bro.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
I have my face in my my my hoodie, Like
I'm like looking at the person putting my face in
my hoodie, like do you not understand what me? Putting
my face in my shirt? Like I don't even get
to enjoy my flight, like I have to keep and
I don't even want to look at you because I
know the germs that you're spewing out of your nose
and your mouth and your face are going into my eyes.

(07:54):
So I'm looking at you and they're going into my eye.
I don't know. Anyways, let's let's let's transition into about
some sports man. Well, let's talk about some school.

Speaker 4 (08:03):
Lorana caught some z's and she's good to go well
with with that.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
Yeah, see, that's what I'm talking about. Quick, quick response,
very witty.

Speaker 4 (08:15):
Did you guys see that? According to Grant Hughes of
Inside Carolina dot Com, Bill Belichick, Yeah, I have read
over that. Yeah, has interviewed for the North Carolina job,
the head coaching job there. Obviously they moved on from
Mac Brown, but Belichick kind of sniffing around, and Albert
Breer was on Amazon last night talking about Belichick's going

(08:36):
to be back coaching football in some way, shape or form,
whether it be high school, college in the NFL, but
that he feels like with some of the changes in
college football, it might be easier for him and faster
for him to build a winner in college football, and
that he's not going to take just any NFL job.
And I just I find it hard to believe that
he's this close to the all times, all time wins

(08:58):
record in the NFL when it comes to coaches and
he's just gonna go coach at North Carolina or somewhere
else in college.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
Yeah, rumor has that helping out his son Steve at
the University of Washington and being around that program has
intrigued his interest, apparently.

Speaker 4 (09:12):
Is how people are putting it.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
Tell me how this makes sense from North Carolina standpoint, Like,
I get he's Bill Belichick, he's the greatest of all time,
but he's also what's seventy two? Mac Brown was seventy three?
Like why do you move on from Mac Brown? Because
you weren't winning enough? And so you're just like okay,
We're okay. Bringing Bill Belichick, who's seventy two. I mean,

(09:35):
if you're Bubba Cunningham, their athletic director. Yes, it's a name,
it's a big name. But there has to be a
secession plan. It's not like Bill Belichick's gonna be your
next head coach for the next I don't know. Does
he want to do it for five more years? Does
he do it four more years? I mean, how many
more years is he going to coach? When we've speculated

(09:56):
about this, I mean, I get it. He's dating twenty
four years, so apparently he's still got a lot of
it's pretty spry.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
He's got a lot of energy at him.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
But you know, by the way, so at first, anyone
who questions whether or not he can recruit someone of
that age, I think that question has been answered.

Speaker 4 (10:13):
He's not gonna have an issue recruiting.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
It's a dan age in college football too, where nil
plays a large portion of it in your roster construction.
And I'll go ahead and say this. You guys can
take shots of me for saying this. I think he
would have a coach prime type effect when I say that,
I mean this, if he calls, I mean, how could

(10:37):
you not answer how could you not want to go
visit How could you not want to sit down with
Bill Belichick?

Speaker 4 (10:43):
Like very similar to Prime. If you're a.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
Prospect and you're a parent, you're like, yeah, I'm gonna
be flying to go check out what's happening down at
North Carolina now with Bill Belichick as their head coach?

Speaker 5 (10:57):
Hell yeah?

Speaker 4 (10:58):
Is he too old school for the new school?

Speaker 5 (11:00):
Though?

Speaker 3 (11:00):
No, Man, I think again, he's dating a twenty four
year old. Like whatever preconceived notion you've got. The way
he's portrayed himself to in the media and all this,
like he's on McAfee's, on all these different platforms. I
think he's I don't want to say reinvented himself, but
I think he's allowed himself to evolve. And I think
the thing that I love about this, and this is

(11:21):
the thing that a lot of you know, players or
coaches would talk about, is one on one Bill Belichick.
It was a lot different than how he was portrayed
to the masses because how he handled the media. And
I think you're starting to see now a little bit
of the fun side of him right where you're like,
probably didn't peg him to be the type of guy
that was going to be dating a twenty four year old, right,
I don't know that anyone had that in their cards.

(11:43):
Well that's where he's at personally. So again, I'm not
trying to like use that as a point for everything,
but I do think there's a lot we don't know
about him, And I think, yeah to your question, LeVar,
I do. I think every single player that gets a
note from Bill Belichick in North Carolina, if you're a
parent too, like you're like son, you're gonna go You're
gonna check this out, like you're gonna go visit with him,

(12:05):
We're gonna have him for a visit like it.

Speaker 4 (12:07):
That's how that whole situation will work out.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
I don't know, man, I don't know what his relatability
would be like when when thinking about how Prime has
been able to do it, it's because he's been a
cultural icon for so long. Belichick has been a winner
at okay, but.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
Hold on, hold on, pause, he's a cultural icon because
he was really good at sports. Yeah, Like, you could
talk about all the stuff off the field, but if
you don't have what's on the field, you can't be
what's off the field. So dual sport Athlete Hall of
Fame or all that. Yeah, that plays a role in it.
But he's also arguably the greatest coach ever. Yeah, but
that doesn't make him a cultural icon.

Speaker 4 (12:45):
It makes them.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
Relatable though to parents and people in that respect thing,
whereas they want to go see and have their son
at least talk to the guy. I'm like, again, I'm
not for him.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
I think it definitely would be appealing in terms of
if you want to win, like it, come into it
and saying, hey, can we win here?

Speaker 7 (13:02):
Now?

Speaker 5 (13:02):
What we win with Bill Belichick one?

Speaker 3 (13:05):
But see, I would actually I would actually question that more.
I would question that more than anything else. Is like
the college game is very different for the NFL game, Like,
just because he's had success in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (13:18):
Doesn't mean he will in college. If he did go
back to college.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
I think that'd be the only thing he'd have going
for him as the reason why.

Speaker 4 (13:25):
I think.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
I think if someone was like, oh, we're not going
to go see Bill Bellt, you're an idiot, Like, like,
if that's how you would think about not seeing a
guy who's won as many Super Bowls as he has,
has coached as many great players as he has, that
would be the most idiotic thing I would think of
for that prospect in their parents, like you just can't
teach stiff.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
I think that would be the only thing that would
be reasonable in terms of what would be the draw
is that he's a winner, Like he is the winner
as it applies to NFL football, So I would agree.
But culturally, I don't think that would be the draw
like it would and it would not be a prime effect.
I think he would he I think he would be interesting.

(14:08):
I think it would be Again, I think you're missing what.

Speaker 4 (14:11):
I'm saying because I'm not talking about culturally.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
I realized there's but I think that that's because here's
here's what I say to that.

Speaker 4 (14:18):
Well, I think prime though too.

Speaker 3 (14:19):
Again, I go back to his success, Like the parents
of a lot of the players that.

Speaker 4 (14:24):
He's recruiting, our fans are fans.

Speaker 3 (14:26):
Yeah, it's no different than the you know, parents of
players they're recruiting for you know, Bill Belichick would be recruiting.
In this hypothetical, they would be fans like they would
have been fans who either rooted against him rooted for him,
but either way they respected them.

Speaker 4 (14:39):
So it's not a cultural thing. I mean, I guess
I'll put it this way.

Speaker 3 (14:43):
If you want to go that far with a cultural thing,
it's a cultural thing for Jonas and I then up
top like, yeah, I think.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
That cultural.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
People want to go see Bill Belichick. I mean, if
we're being honest, I think that's a valid point. If
being all the way on this on Fox Sports Radio,
I think that's a valid Yes, all right, it might
be a Prime effect for white people. There you go, like,
let's just call it the way it is. Yeah, because
I think that what makes Prime, what makes what he's

(15:14):
created there such a lightning in a bottle situation, is
his ability to leverage culture. That's the whole thing. It's
the whole entire thing. So yeah, I would agree with
you on that. Like, I mean, I don't know how
many I don't know how many white kids are are

(15:35):
drawn to Colorado based off of the Prime effect.

Speaker 5 (15:37):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
He was one of my favorite players growing up. I
don't know that if I don't know what that, I
don't know what that looks like. I just know a
lot of dudes, culturally speaking, have tried to mimic and
do the things that like Prime has. I don't know
how much he's crossed barriers and transcend it. But culturally,

(16:00):
like in black communities, Prime is like he's like the
holy Grail of of athletes.

Speaker 4 (16:08):
Are you trying to say that Belichick wouldn't look better
in a pair of blenders than Deon Sanders.

Speaker 5 (16:13):
No, I'm not saying.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
What I'm saying is what I'm saying is is that
he would not have the type of impact that Prime
is having. I don't think anybody would. I don't think
ray lewis how you.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
How you measure it, Like if you're saying, like selling
blenders and some of the attention and media attention, but like.

Speaker 4 (16:32):
It's just a lot well, I think there'd be a
lot of people who would want to tune in to
watch those games the see would go.

Speaker 1 (16:39):
I mean, I just don't think I'm just opinion coming
out from my way. I just don't think it would
be as as interesting it would be.

Speaker 4 (16:48):
I'm not trying to convince you otherwise.

Speaker 3 (16:50):
I think it would be fascinating though, for a guy
that's so close to beating Don Shul's record, that instead
of in his final years coaching, doesn't go act A
the NFL.

Speaker 4 (17:00):
He goes to college.

Speaker 1 (17:01):
Wouldn't it also creased, like when Sean Payton went back
and coached pee wee league football and they made a
movie about it, like that type stuff.

Speaker 4 (17:08):
Well, you know, you know, was that actually real?

Speaker 5 (17:11):
I think it was.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
I think it was based on but I think it
was based off when he was I think he coached
that year, like with his son or whatever. Like.

Speaker 4 (17:20):
Wouldn't that also speak volumes to the jobs that are
open in the NFL of Belichick's like, nah, I'm gonna
go to North Carolina.

Speaker 5 (17:26):
I don't think that that's what it would be.

Speaker 4 (17:29):
No, if there wasn't a better, better opportunity in the
NFL this close to the record, I.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
Don't think that would necessarily be the reason why he
didn't take the NFL, because the NFL is the NFL.
If you if you can get the situation that he
thought he was going to get in Atlanta, he's going
to take that job. So I think it's more about
what his opportunities are. I mean, if there's one thing
I would say, if you could look at at Dion

(17:55):
and say someone like Bill Belichick would be able to
do at the college level from my perspective, is he'd
have total control.

Speaker 5 (18:03):
Total like you're a diction, total total control.

Speaker 3 (18:08):
The only thing that I'm curious to see about Coach
Prime in Colorado is once they lose Shador, who will
probably be the first overall player take in the draft.
Travis Hunter, who's a top ten you know, pick top five,
whatever however he's viewed, probably.

Speaker 4 (18:22):
Gonna win the Heisman Trophy.

Speaker 3 (18:24):
Once you remove those two, you know, is there sustaining
power in that Like initially, like there was improvement from
what was there before he got there. Year two, there's improvement,
But next year's going to be the true test because
you can have whatever five star, four star dudes you want,
and if those guys don't play, don't pan out, you
don't win, it becomes hard. Then you know, you can

(18:46):
sell whatever you want, like culture and all that. I'm
just saying, like that's that's all success is ultimately what
everyone wants because you could sit there in those living
rooms and you can get your foot in the door
because of you know, your Coach Prime or Bill Belichick.
But if you can't actually win, you can't help that
player get drafted and you know, get them the nil
deals because they're gonna be a star player.

Speaker 4 (19:06):
Like that becomes The.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
Issue what Prime is facing is will he be able
to keep his relevance. This season did him a lot
of good because he was facing that this season. That
was a part of what could have become the narrative like,
oh well, the Prime effect is going to wear off

(19:29):
because there's only so much smoking mirrors that you can
do to try to basically say a three win season
is okay because it's coach Prime that that he was
facing that this season. He got a break last year
because the team was in such bad, bad shape when

(19:50):
he took over. It had he had the same type
of season this year, you just believe, Yeah, come on, man,
that culture stuff is out the door, Like yeah, you're
on Sanders your Prime and I'll be honest with you,
like on on everything. And that's my dog, like that's
my old teammate.

Speaker 5 (20:07):
Like we were cool.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
I mean, man looked at me like you know, Dad,
Like I mean, I like, I like Coach Prime because
you got to know him at the UA game and
like Coach Hart, I like.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
Him, but I don't know that they can win, so
I don't.

Speaker 5 (20:23):
Want to go there.

Speaker 1 (20:24):
And you're gonna have like if they did not have
they had the type of season where you could at
least say, you know what they can win and if
they do bring in which they got juju and and
he could be the guy, could be another guy who
surfaces that is the guy. Maybe they get somebody out
of the transfer portal. But he has made Colorado attractive

(20:46):
enough through culture and now culture and a winning season.
Like you think about it, he brings. It's like a
who's who of celebrities that he has guest list wise
that comes to his games. He does so many interesting
things that make it a drawl for people to want.

Speaker 5 (21:06):
Like I would, I would go on.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
A visit to Colorado just to see who's on the sideline,
Like I chance to meet this person or ture with
that guy, you know.

Speaker 4 (21:16):
And I'm sure kids have and I'm sure kids will
continue to do it.

Speaker 1 (21:19):
And they might not go there because of it, but
I dang sure want to go there just to see
what it's like. Right, And then now that's your that's
your carrot. That's that's what that's.

Speaker 3 (21:28):
The hard part is there only we kind of talked
about their strategy before and how they recruit. They're only
recruited about you know, ten maybe fifteen high school kids anyway,
So they're kind of being more selective in how they
go about it because they've won to build through the portal.
Now the hard thing is too and saying that is like,
is that even sustainable?

Speaker 5 (21:45):
You know?

Speaker 3 (21:45):
Can you keep turning over your roster the way they
have and be able to have sustained success? Like most
people will sit there and say, like, go back to
that twenty twenty two Texas A and M class that
was the number one recruited class. I forget how many
millions of dollars were thrown around back when ross Byorke
was the athletic director down there and Jimbo Fish was
the head coach. Do you guys know that pretty pretty

(22:08):
much every single player, with the exception of one who's
the starter there and then one who's gotten benched, hit
the portal. So you have to realize that if you're
bringing in a portal player, he wasn't good enough somewhere else,
Otherwise they would have kept them. We're now at a
point where everyone can pay the guys that want to

(22:29):
keep and so unless there was it was a playing
time issue, or there's some other outstanding circumstance, it's most
likely comes down to like dah, that guy wasn't good
enough somewhere else, so he's getting an opportunity elsewhere. And
that's not saying that like that guy shouldn't have the opportunity,
It's just can you ultimately build a winning team on that.
At some point you got to start getting those four star,

(22:50):
five star, you know, three star kids out of high school.

Speaker 4 (22:53):
It's Two Pros and a Cup of Joe here on
Fox Sports Radio, LeVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas talks on you.
Coming up next year from that iraq dot com studios.
We are going to talk about a busy weekend in
the world of college football, not only on the field,
but apparently off it. That's yours right here on FSR.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 4 (23:24):
Two Pros and a Cup of Joe Fox Sports Radio,
LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you here coming
up fifteen minutes from now here from the ti iraq
dot Com Studios. Somebody's going to get that work. We
got picks against the spread. I was screwed over last
week and we're going to change things around here. That's
happening fifteen minutes from now here on FSR Braden Quinn.

(23:48):
You are live on location at Boyse all right. Don't
want to emphasize you guys, got to say it right
right by the way, it's boy C not boy Z.
I mean, you know, all right, listen, people that want
to complain about that, you know, feels like there are
bigger issues in the world. But nonetheless, you are on
location there UNLB and Boise State. I'm gonna screw that

(24:14):
up every single time you are on location there for
the big game in the Mountain West coming up later
on tonight. My question for you is this is the
potatoes and Idaho thing? Is that like everywhere you go,
like it is corn in some places of the country
like Iowa, Nebraska, Like is that a real thing or
is that blown out of proportion?

Speaker 3 (24:33):
I feel like it's blown out of proportion a bit
only because I'm one you compared to the corn in Nebraska.
I mean, there's a lot of corn around. However, it's
not like you go into a restaurant. They're beating you
over the head with different corn dishes. So if you
travel a little bit more, if you travel a little
bit more, you'd know this. But no, it's not over
the top. The potatoes are delicious, though, so I'll give

(24:55):
them credit for that. But it'll be an exciting night
the I think this will be one of like the
better games of the weekend. As far as how the
two teams match up, it's a rematch and the winner
there's a lot of stakes. The winner of this game
is definitely going to be into the College Football Playoff.
The question becomes if it's Boise, they will get a

(25:16):
first round by, which is nuts there because they're ahead
of the Big twelve right now, and there's even some
people who think that, well, I don't know, UNLV is
not that far behind. If UNLV beat Boise, they would
have a top ten win. Maybe they leap frog the
Big twelve. I don't think that's gonna happen, but uh,
no doubt about it. The winner of tonight's Mount West

(25:38):
championship will get into the College Football Playoff, either as
a first round by probably if it's Bois or if
it's UNLV. Just being in that first round, so kind
of crazy to think about, but that's where we're headed
and a losers out one hundred percent, Yeah, the losers out.
Which you know, there's a lot of speculation about this
weekend's games and what impact it could potential we have

(26:00):
on knocking some teams out. For example, if Clemson beats
Southern Miss or excuse me, SMU, there's a thought that
SMU would fall out of the playoff. There's also a
thought that they would bump out Alabama now, and we
can go back and forth about debating you know how
the College Football Playoff Commitee feels about the SEC versus

(26:21):
the ACC, But it's pretty apparent, right, I mean, the
reality is there's more SEC teams that are a part
of the playoff now, and there's probably a thought that
they'd love to get a fourth team in as opposed
to only having three. So we'll see how the resumes
stack up when it's all said done. If SMU takes
care of business, which is what probably Alabama's hoping for,

(26:42):
there's no debate. You know, Clemson's out, Alabama would be in,
and your playoff field is kind of set from that standpoint,
So there's not as much juggling going on. It's if
Clemson beats SMU, what then happens to Alabama? Do they
still stand as part of the mix? Or do you
penalize SMU for having to play in the conference championship
weekend and play that additional game and then if they

(27:05):
lose it are they penalized for? And that's what I
think a lot of people might be frustrated by. Who
are SMU fans or Jim Phillips, who's that you know,
the commissioner of the ACC or anyone.

Speaker 4 (27:15):
Else who's involved outside of the game. Later on tonight,
which do you think is going to be the most
competitive of all the games this weekend? Georgia, Texas?

Speaker 3 (27:26):
I mean I tend to believe that rematches are usually
the most competitive because the teams are so familiar with
one another. I mean, just to give you it to
some insight on like tonight's game. You know, if you
go back to the first matchup between Boise State and UNLV,
you know gent was held to his lowest yards per
attempt the entire season. I mean, clearly Barry Odom knows

(27:47):
what he's doing at un LV. He knows what they're
trying to do. It was very apparent they were trying
to essentially get Ashton genty outside of the cornerbacks for UNLV,
and if not for some bad penalties down the stretch
which has played UNLV this year, they might have won
that game. So it's going to be fascinating to see,
like what adjustments are made throughout the course of the game.

(28:09):
Same thing could be said for Georgia Texas. Like when
I go back and watch that game, Texas could not
stay on the field. They were like two for fifteen
or something like that on third down. And when I
went back and was like going through the tape, you
see the different third down packages that they were running,
the different pressure looks, the different you know, simulated pressures,
things that they would do to try to confuse Quinn
Yours And if you'll recall he got benched in that game,

(28:32):
they put in arch Manning remember the series, before the
end of the half, they kind of put him in
for one or two. They brought Yours back in the
second half. So that was how poor the offense was performing,
and it just kind of makes you wonder, well they
have adjustments, will they be able to make adjustments to
make it look different this time around, because it was
with thirty to fifteen, I believe, and Georgia really drummed
them for the most part. So that's another one that

(28:54):
I think has the potential to be close. And also
you never know what's Georgia team is going to show up,
so that's kind of part of it as well.

Speaker 4 (29:02):
So gen needs what three ninety or three sixty rather to.

Speaker 3 (29:06):
Yeah, something like that. Here's a tough thing, is like you,
if you compare it, nothing can compare to Barry Sanders' season.
And reason saying this is like they didn't even include
Barry Sanders' yards in his Bowl game as part of
his stats for that year, so you're comparing. I mean,
don't get me wrong. What Ashton Gendy is doing is phenomenal.

(29:27):
We haven't seen it in a decade. MC Melvin Gordon
is the last running back you could point to you
that I had something close to what he's doing this season,
but like, let's not compare it to you like all
the time. I mean, the same remark was made about
Dylan Gabriel going over the career passing Marph of case Keenum.
It's like he's in a sixty year, like can we
stop this? Like I know we want to anoint and

(29:48):
create hype around it, and it's it's not taking anything
away from what Dylan Gabriel's done, but these guys who
are playing their fifth, sixth, seventh year at times it's
like you can't count all the stats. I mean, like
take the four cumulative or the four highest if you want,
but like you can't take six years of stats and
then say, oh, we're gonna throw in the record books
like well, that kind of diminishes. Then the whole point

(30:10):
of it in the first place is when guys actually
had to put up stats, put up numbers, and a
time where they only had four years of.

Speaker 4 (30:16):
Elgie put into it.

Speaker 3 (30:17):
So I mean, I wouldn't compare anything to like the
Barry Sanders numbers because to me, no one's ever gonna
come close to that ever.

Speaker 4 (30:24):
Again, twenty eight yards thus far seven point three on
the ground per carry. Every time that guy touches the ball,
they pick up over seven yards.

Speaker 3 (30:33):
What's what's crazy is he was averaging like seven yards
after contact, meaning like he's meeting someone the hole and
he's still having a better average per attempt than almost
every single running back in the country. Like that's what's
phenomenal about him. So he's an incredible player. I can't
wait to watch him. But like you could do a

(30:53):
breakdown of a lot of the numbers and his stats,
and and I know everyone's like making try the big
debates Travis hunh or Ashton Genty those are essentially the
two prime candidates. Some people have thrown in Dylan Gabriels,
some people have thrown into you know, other quarterbacks to
be a part of the mix.

Speaker 4 (31:09):
Kate Klubnicks had a great year for Clemson.

Speaker 3 (31:11):
The truth of it is, you know, Travis Hunter, statistically speaking,
it's gonna always be hard for him to have wow
stats because when you're that good at cornerback, no one
really throws your way. And then when you're a wide receiver,
you know at times you're gonna get taken away or
taken out of games. You know, he still has really
good stats for that, But that's just the reality of it.

(31:31):
As a running back, like he gets the ball and
he runs versus more a man and seven man boxes
than any singular running back in FBS, Like that's a fact.
So he's always running against the extra defender, and that's
why it's amazing to see what he's been able to
do this season.

Speaker 4 (31:47):
I think it was Petros who was mentioned in this
earlier in the season that because he did a game
and had a chance to talk to the coach there
at Boise State, and I guess gent had been offered
like money to go elsewhere, like to transfer, and just
stuck around, and the thought was, well, he's going to

(32:09):
I mean, he's so talented, he's gonna end up going elsewhere,
and he just didn't. Like he stayed loyal to the
program and was like, no, I want to be here
and just stayed there. And Sinceena has put up a
historic season, you know, top five, you know, all time
season when it comes to the running back position in
college football, So it's kind of nice to see somebody
with a little loyalty of the.

Speaker 3 (32:27):
Program loyalty and also he stayed and he has done
some stuff with Nil to like feed his ZO line
and have the you know, different deals with that too.
So he's been a good, good player in that respect,
a good ambassador for college football as far as you know,
guys that you want to see like succeed, but also
when they do succeed, they take care of the guys
that are helping them out too. So he's been an
awesome story in college football this year.

Speaker 4 (32:48):
Now, is this the last big noon show for you
guys of the season?

Speaker 3 (32:51):
It is the last for all And we wouldn't even
call it a big noon show. You know, it's obviously
it's at night. It's only for an hour, we're inside
the stadium. It's like a it's like a more normal
it's probably something closer to like a CBS or NBC type,
you know, studio show. They're not really doing the same
kind of stuff we were we were doing, so we
wouldn't even.

Speaker 4 (33:11):
Call this like part of it. Kind of well, listen,
we'll be watching. It's gonna be a fun one fun weekend.
Are the Penn State alum? Are they nervous about this matchup?
Bar or is this kind of like a free money
because they weren't expecting uh, Ohio State.

Speaker 5 (33:24):
Why wouldn't we expect it?

Speaker 4 (33:26):
Well, because Ohio State was favored by three touchdowns of
out Michigan.

Speaker 1 (33:30):
I think we expected, we expect to win and if
things shape out and shake up the way that you know,
you'd hope they'd shake out and shake up, you get
an opportunity. So they had an opportunity or they knew
the opportunity was there before the game started, you know
what I mean?

Speaker 5 (33:47):
Yah? Saw, yeah, I saw coach Franklin. Oh yeah, yeah,
they top of it.

Speaker 4 (33:56):
Little Lorena whichever, I'm not really sure at this point
she be.

Speaker 1 (34:00):
Anyway, I feel pretty pretty confident. And if you are
watching CBS coverage of the game, they did do a
feature story with me talking about at dual Carter and
Michael Parsons.

Speaker 5 (34:13):
So if you if you're if you're around.

Speaker 4 (34:15):
Your second plug so far of the show.

Speaker 7 (34:18):
I love plugging, man, and we know that's why we
said it was not very surprising when you're talking about
buying a new home and finding somebody who on TV?

Speaker 5 (34:29):
Yeah, man, by the way, is he coming out?

Speaker 1 (34:32):
Hey?

Speaker 5 (34:32):
Hey, bro, I understand culture.

Speaker 3 (34:34):
Is apparently you don't understand our culture because you're not
hyped up by Bill Belichick's I don't know.

Speaker 4 (34:40):
Yeah, what's your problem?

Speaker 5 (34:42):
Var I wouldn't have a problem with Bill Belichick.

Speaker 4 (34:44):
That's wrong with her.

Speaker 1 (34:44):
Johnson my my Hey, my best season was with Marty Soottenheimer,
So I am a fan of that type of coach.
But you know some some won't be.

Speaker 4 (34:55):
I don't think it's going to happen, But I would
love to see Marty getting the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 5 (34:59):
That would be pretty cool.

Speaker 4 (35:01):
Got two hundred career wins by the dope dude in
the playoff stuff, that's sure took a weird turn.

Speaker 3 (35:06):
I just I thought we're gonna go back to Belichick
there by the way, there's no way he coaches in college.

Speaker 5 (35:10):
I'm just saying, like, that's no chance. Yeah, but if
he did.

Speaker 3 (35:14):
I think I think what he's learned from being in
the media now is he's just keeping his name out
there by doing it. And it's like what else does
he have to do right now?

Speaker 1 (35:23):
I mean, I mean, I just think you get if
you get told, like I said, you get total control,
Like your boss is the A D. But really the
A D and in so many ways is working for you.

Speaker 4 (35:38):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 5 (35:40):
You do? You know?

Speaker 1 (35:41):
I just think that that would be an interesting dynamic
for like if you if you asked the question, since
we compared it to Dion, do you not think that
Dion at this point has the keys to that city,
like he's running that Like why would he leave?

Speaker 5 (36:00):
He has total control? So until he loses, right Like,
it's like until.

Speaker 1 (36:06):
You show you can't bring any And for what it's worth,
it's not even about losing. It's about how much money
you're generating for that university. As long as he's generating
that type of income and revenue for that university and
they can build and they can grow that Dion's got
the keys. And I mean, if I'm Bill Belichick, that's

(36:27):
something that would be to in my estimation, why wouldn't
that be attractive if you could go like, oh, we
really really need to revamp or do something that changes
what we have going on here. I mean, why not
why not take a shot at it?

Speaker 5 (36:43):
That'd be fun to watch.

Speaker 4 (36:44):

Speaker 5 (38:02):
Last week.

Speaker 8 (38:02):
We had LeVar was the only one who had Chicago
to cover versus the Lions. We had everybody correctly picking
Cowboys to cover versus the Giants. Brady went on a
run with picking Green Bay to beat the Dolphins, and
UH the Raiders to cover versus the Chiefs, and then
lastly six picks hit with the money line Philadelphia versus
the Ravens.

Speaker 4 (38:21):
Good job there, Var.

Speaker 8 (38:22):
So last week we had Brady and LeVar tied up
three to two, while jonas a measly one and four.
I had stuff going on, Yeah, losing his lead to Var.
Var now has a one game lead.

Speaker 4 (38:37):
There we go, Var, Hell, yeah, you know, good job
to you, que. I've missed a few weeks, so we

Speaker 1 (39:03):
I don't think they will win by more than six,
So I'm gonna I'm gonna take the Browns.

Speaker 8 (39:07):
Sticks Picks Falcons at Vikings. Vikings five and a half
point favorites.

Speaker 4 (39:12):
At home Falcons. I think Kirko responds. Can't have four
bad games in a row, can he?

Speaker 5 (39:21):
Taking the Vikings answer.

Speaker 2 (39:22):
That sticks picks.

Speaker 3 (39:25):
I'm going to Oh man, I'm gonna pick the Falcons.

Sticks picks.
