He really does get fired up for some of these songs.
Speaker 4 (01:04):
He does.
Speaker 5 (01:05):
But like that was different. You know, there's not a
female artist in this one. But Lee loves the songs.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
Man. It's great.
Speaker 6 (01:11):
He's a big fan.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
So we will for this hour get into all sorts
of fun conversation.
Speaker 6 (01:18):
To be had here. We're going to talk about.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
Plenty in the latest controversy and complaints in the world
of sports. I would like to say this as somebody
who flew to Las Vegas this weekend to cover the
Pacquiao Barrios fight, which was fantastic, I would like to
say this, there's something that Southwest Airlines does that I
(01:41):
can't figure out. And I'm not going to take the bait,
but I cannot figure out how you can get into
the A grouping unless you like pre pay for that,
because you can check into your flight twenty four hours before,
literally on the dot twenty four hours before, and I
get the B group every time. I don't get it.
Speaker 5 (02:02):
Well, you're probably you know, your booking the cheapest ticket, right.
Speaker 6 (02:09):
I mean, yeah, what does it have to do?
Speaker 4 (02:12):
That plays a little bit of a role.
Speaker 5 (02:14):
I think some of their other pricing for the other
tickets where they're a little bit more expensive, they push
you into that early bird and you get like a
group seating or whatever. I mean, the business select you
have to pay their top dollar for. Then you get
like a through A through one through A fifteen or
something like that, and then after that, I think it
(02:36):
depends on the timing of when you actually go to
get your seat. But I believe there might be a
difference too in the type of ticket you buy. So
if you buy the cheapest, unless you pay for that
early bird, which knowing you, you probably didn't pay the extra
thirty five bucks, check it for that, Okay, so you'll
never get.
Speaker 6 (02:54):
A group then, So those days, those days are over.
Speaker 5 (02:58):
But you don't have to worry about it because they
are starting in Q three Q four of this year,
they're going to allow you to get a sign seats,
which but again you're too cheap to actually pay.
Speaker 6 (03:07):
Yeah, I'm not paying for a seat.
Speaker 4 (03:08):
Prior to the flight.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
No, And I look, I'm not a snobby traveler who
demands all this, Like just give me an aisle seat,
I'm good, so I can get up and use the
restroom because I drink way too much water, Like if
I could use the bathroom, I'm good. I don't need
anything else. Just to make sure that plane doesn't end
up in the side of a mountain. That's all I'm
asking for. Just get me there and get me there
on time, and I'm good.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
But what's up the landings? Though?
Speaker 1 (03:32):
It's just for some reason that the Southwest landings just
feel a little bit more rough than anywhere else. I
don't know what it is. And uh, I just when
they're when they The thing about flying from Burbank to
Vegas is you're literally up and down, like you're up
in the air and then you're down. It's quick, it's
less than an hour flight. But man, when they come
(03:54):
down like it is like, I don't know if they're
going straight down.
Speaker 6 (03:58):
Uh, I would assume would be a little bit.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
But there were people that were kind of looking around,
going what's happening here? That was a little bit more
rough than what we were expecting. So I don't know
if that's a Southwest thing or maybe it's just a
Vegas thing because they were trying to get there fast.
Speaker 6 (04:11):
But yeah, did seem a little little choppy at times.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
I just I remember the days when you could book
Southwest Air and twenty four hours before you could check
in and you were getting an a seat, like everything
was going to be fine. Now those days are over,
like it's never gonna happen. And if you are checking
in twenty four hours before, you're gonna get a B group,
and god forbid, you get stuck in the C group
(04:36):
and the overhead compartments are all filled up, then you're
gonna have to check a bag.
Speaker 6 (04:39):
And the whole thing's a pain in the ass.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
So I mean, listen, Southwest has been good to me.
I just I don't understand the whole twenty four hour before.
What's the point now if everybody else is just gonna upgrade?
And what is the upgrade? Thirty bucks something like that.
Speaker 5 (04:51):
Way too much, thirty five bucks, I believe, Wait, wait
too much, way too much?
Speaker 6 (04:54):
Yeah, all right.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
Somebody who's not worried about having to pay for upgrades
is the one.
Speaker 6 (04:59):
And Onlycotty Scheffler.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
Scottie Scheffler who won, I believe what is a little
over three million dollars was the purse that he took
home from winning the Open Championship or the British Open
as we call it this weekend. And there's been some
talk about how he goes about celebrity and his fame
differently than everybody else. Jordan Speith tried to explain it away,
(05:23):
and I think people took the first portion of these
comments and thought that he was throwing a little bit
of shade at Scottie Scheffler. But if you listen to
it in its entirety, it does make a lot of sense.
Speaker 7 (05:34):
He doesn't care to be a superstar if he's not
transcending the game like Tiger did, he's not bringing it
to non golf audience necessarily. He doesn't want to go
do you know the stuff that you know a lot
of us go do corporately, anything like that. He's he
just wants to get away from the game and separate
the two because I know that he you know, at
one time, felt that he was too much who's taking
(05:55):
it with him? And you know, whenever he made that switch,
I don't know when it was, but you know, to
have his hot, he's he's always with his family, you know,
they're always doing stuff. I think it's more so the
difference in personality from any other superstar that you've seen
in the modern era and maybe any sport.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
So basically, he's less douchey than everybody else, and he's
not out there, you know, pounding the table and doing
it the same way everybody else does.
Speaker 6 (06:18):
Every day pee, every day guy.
Speaker 5 (06:20):
He's the best player in the sport in the world,
and he doesn't necessarily have to go out and do
a bunch of the corporate functions and advertise and pull for.
Speaker 4 (06:31):
The PGA Tour.
Speaker 5 (06:33):
I mean, he's one name that if you think about
the Live Tour and all the money they've thrown at
other players, he's never talked about if they've tried to
entice him or what they've offered him.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
You know, we talked.
Speaker 5 (06:44):
Earlier today about Rory saying, hey, they offered me eight
or fifty million, turn it down. But the reports of
that came out. I don't recall seeing that or hearing
that about Scheffler, And it's just it's kind of refreshing
to have an athlete that doesn't feel the need to
who go above and beyond what he is. And I
think it's played in his favor as far as his performance.
(07:08):
He's centered and grounded in what he believes and being
with his family and compartmentalizing what golf is and who
he is as a person, and it's worked out for him.
So I'm sure people are going to take the Jordan
Smith comments kind of the wrong way. I mean, these
guys all know each other. I think Scotty probably knows
what he's trying to say or attempting to say. It
doesn't always come out the best way. But there definitely
(07:31):
is a difference between you know, Jordan Spieth some of
the others. I mean, look at the TGL for example.
You know there are guys who earlier in the golf
season and they're spending that East Coast swing, they go
on playing on Mondays and Tuesday time time to continue
to grow the game. I mean, that's a little bit
of what Sweeth's reverencing. You know, guys who yes, they're
(07:51):
getting compensated for it. Yes, that's another startup league that
there looks to be growth and value there, but it's
also trying to grow the audience. A lot of people
who maybe like to go into top golf or maybe
like doing mini golf, but don't watch the PGA Tour,
and they're trying to bring them in to part of
this crowd of like, hey, we can be fun. This
could be an entertaining as well. So I think that's
(08:13):
more the direction he's going with.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
Yeah, I would agree, And I also think, like, for example,
I'll ask you this question, and I know the answer
to this because you and I have talked about this
off the air, But if you weren't doing broadcasting, if
you weren't in the media, would you have a social
media app?
Speaker 4 (08:31):
Absolutely not.
Speaker 5 (08:33):
I might have one depending on what I'm doing for
a company, but I would not have one. And it's
difficult for me because I mean, I just took a
break during our time where you know, I was away.
I took a break from all of it, and it
was refreshing. So I would definitely not have one. I
don't think it's necessary. I don't even think it's good
(08:55):
to be quite honest.
Speaker 6 (08:56):
Yeah, I'm the same way. I don't.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
If I wasn't doing this for a living, you wouldn't
see me anywhere. And I'm one of those people like,
once this is done, if I retire, you'll never hear
from me again. Gone, man up and vanish like a
fart in the wind. And there's some people who like
to operate that way. There's some people who don't need
all the bells and whistles that come with either celebrity
(09:19):
or fame or that stuff that comes along with it.
And I think that's I think it's refreshing. I think
seeing a guy like Scotty Scheffler is like, dude, yeah,
I'm really great at this.
Speaker 6 (09:29):
I'm better than everybody else.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
It ends here like I don't like I'm not taking
this home with me, like I have a I have
a life outside of this, and I don't want to
do all the all the commercial like I haven't. I've
never seen a Scotty Scheffler commercial, like I don't. I
don't recall seeing anything like that.
Speaker 6 (09:47):
I don't. I don't recall.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
The only thing that people probably think of when they
think of Scotty Scheffler that's not quote unquote golf related
is him getting arrested at outside a golf course.
Speaker 6 (09:58):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
Other than that, he just goes and plays and dominates
and then goes home and then comes back the next
one and wins again. Probably like it's just he's the
best in the world. He just doesn't like all the
other stuff that comes along with it. And there's so
many people nowadays, whether it you know, you talk about
influencers or athletes that spend so much time on social media.
(10:21):
I don't know how they have the time to do it.
I swear to God, I don't know how you how
you have a family, a career and everything that comes
along with those responsibilities and sit and post and comment
or argue or repost. I don't know how people do it.
I can't even imagine that world. And Scotty Scheffler is
(10:43):
like one of those guys like man, I don't want
to do any of that. Craps just not my thing.
It's not my thing, and it's probably, to your point,
probably a healthier way to live based on some of
the craft that we see on social media. So there
is there's your fun little factoid about Scotty Scheffler as
he wins another major in golf, two pros and a
cup of Joe here on Fox Sports Radio. So that
(11:07):
being said, I don't know if you knew this or not,
but the w NBA had an All Star Game this weekend.
Speaker 4 (11:13):
I was aware of that. I was aware of that.
Speaker 1 (11:16):
I did not watch because uh just had no real interest.
All star games are not for me, and especially all
star games involving a league that I am not crazy about.
It's just not for me, not my thing. But of
course we had a little bit of you know, controversy.
(11:36):
Kelsey Plum of the w n B A they are
what the T shirt said, specifically, we deserve more money.
Is it was something along those lines, pay us more,
pay us what you owe us got you, so pay
us what you owe Us and Kelsey Plum of the
Sparks spoke over the weekend and of course figured out
(11:59):
a way to maybe throw a little bit of shade
herself at one Kaitlyn Clark.
Speaker 8 (12:03):
That was a very powerful moment. We didn't, at least
as players, we didn't know that that was gonna happen,
So I think it was kind of like a genuine surprise.
But the t shirt just united front was determined this
morning that we had a meeting for and uh, you know,
not to not to tattle tale, but zero members of
(12:25):
Team Clark were very present for that.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
So that was that was Kelsey Plumb making it a
point to point out that Caitlyn Clark wasn't.
Speaker 5 (12:35):
It's amazing how the w NBA players can't get out
of their own way.
Speaker 4 (12:41):
It's it's incredible.
Speaker 5 (12:43):
The girl who arguably, I don't eve think it's arguable,
you know, you can't argue it. At this point, she
has brought the ratings, she has brought any sort of
momentum this league has had. And yet, even in an
instance where you're trying to look unified in your call
to get compensated more, you take a shot at the
one person who's leading this entire league into maybe eventually profitability.
(13:10):
I never understand this. I never understand this. It is
the stupidest way of handling business. So look, if we
want to talk about the pays yu O us, we
can talk about that. I mean, the league was started
in nineteen ninety six. At no point hasn't ever turned
a profit at no point. I mean at times there's
(13:30):
estimates that the league reportedly lost to an in eighty million.
It's lost up to four hundred million if you go
back to twenty ten. This is all reported. Okay, So
people are going to debate the facts of where the
numbers come from because the finances they're not very transparent
and important because you know, a lot of these teams
(13:50):
are kind of rolled into some of the NBA ownerships,
Like you look at matt Ishba who that came along
with that was the Mercury Phoenix, And there's reports or
people that discussed that that was thrown into the deal
at a value of zero because the business doesn't turn
a profit. Now, I'm not saying that a business has
(14:12):
to turn a profit in order to be able to
be a business or remain a business. We've got all
sorts of different structures for different business entities. Okay, Amazon,
for example, Everyone throws out, well, Amazon didn't turn a
profit for eight, nine.
Speaker 4 (14:26):
Ten years, whatever it was.
Speaker 5 (14:28):
Okay, if you're using Amazon as the comparison to the WNBA,
I'm sorry, but Amazon had a revolutionary product and tech.
It's a more tech than anything else. It took a
while to build up to profitability. Now it's one of
the most value companies in the world, if not the
most value. So you're using a unicorn to compare to
(14:50):
the WNBA. Now, the only thing the WNBA really has
going for it if you look at recent years and
the track record of the revenue getting closer to profitability.
I believe last year they still lost fifty million. Mind you,
still being subsidized by the NBA, who owns about forty
two percent of the league, and they're pumping in anywhere
(15:12):
between fifteen million to some suspect it could be up
to forty million a year to help offset a lot
of the operating costs. So there's a thought that, hey,
these finances aren't transparent, and they're not transparent because the
owners of these WNBA teams, whether they be NBA owners
or separate owners from that, they don't want them to
(15:36):
be publicized because then the players would have greater rights
to trying to negotiate to get paid more.
Speaker 4 (15:42):
I mean, that's what this is ultimately about, is the.
Speaker 5 (15:44):
Players feel like this league's at a better spot and
they deserve a greater portion of the revenue share. The
NBA players make in salaries fifty percent of the revenue
the league is able to generate. The NBA generates eleven
point three point eight billion dollars a year. NBA contracts
take up fifty percent of that.
Speaker 4 (16:05):
Think about that.
Speaker 5 (16:06):
The WNBA makes reportedly four hundred five hundred million a
year and their contracts take up nine percent of that.
So that's really what this is about, is the WNBA
players believe they're underpaid in comparison to NBA players who
take up a much greater percentage of their revenue. Now, again,
(16:28):
I'm not an expert. I don't have all the finances.
Maybe some of the WNB players do, even though again
it it becomes murky and hard to figure out the
exact figures. The one thing we know, though, is valuations
keep skyrocketing. All these teams that the people who paid
zero dollars for ten million, four when you go back
five years ago, four years ago, they're now somehow around
(16:50):
two hundred million now.
Speaker 4 (16:51):
On paper, that always looks.
Speaker 5 (16:52):
Good, but the reality is it's gonna be hard to
have a team that actually stays in business if you
don't eventually turn a profit or be able to figure
out a way of turning a lot of the money
you're throwing in this thing into money that will become
profit and eventually you can invest back into the team.
So that's the crux of this issue is the players
(17:14):
want to be paid more, but you've got a business
that's not earning any profits, which makes it hard to
be able to sustain unless you've got people with deep
pockets who want to keep investing, keep investing. Eventually, sometimes
that weld goes dry. There's not many businesses out there
that can remain unprofitable for thirty years and still be
able to stay in business. It's hard to do. Not
(17:36):
saying the WNBA can't do it, not saying they don't
have a ton of positive momentum right now. I'm not
even saying that the women should be paid more in
comparison to their NBA counterparts, But I don't know that
this is the best way of going about doing it.
I don't know if you want to ostracize your star
in Caitlin Clark as part of that, even though I
believe she put on a T shirt at some point
(17:58):
and what's wearing it and probably feel similar to the
rest of the crew.
Speaker 4 (18:02):
But why take the shot that, what's what's the purpose
of that?
Speaker 6 (18:05):
That? That's the part.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
And this is why I struggle to even entertain the
idea of paying more attention to the w NBA, because
they've all I ever hear about when it comes to
the w NBA is all the Hey, what did Britney
Griner say under breath? And was it a racial slur
while she was sitting on the bench. Hey, Caitlin Clark
(18:27):
got fouled here somebody doesn't like Caitlin Clark here.
Speaker 6 (18:31):
Angel Rees says this the.
Speaker 1 (18:33):
Debate online that everything is drama, Everything is controversy, Like
there's no like, okay, what what are there any on
court highlights? Like any anything from a game? We can
look at anything, because I see those with Caitlin Clark.
Yet everything every time somebody speaks out publicly about her,
it seems like they're taking a shot and for Kelsey
(18:53):
Plumb and some of these other players. It's real simple.
If you want more, why would you diminish the person
that can help get you more. Why why would you
do that? I don't, and I always go back to
this Charles Barkley quote where he was talking with Dan
LeBatard and he said, man, when Magic Johnson signed his
(19:15):
twenty five year, twenty five million dollar contract, we were
all high fiving in the Sixers' locker room because we realized, oh,
if he's getting that, that's great for all of us.
It was more of a this like for everybody involved,
this is a win.
Speaker 6 (19:31):
Like you didn't.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
You didn't have people bad mouthing it. They were celebrating
because they realized, Hey, this is all part of the
greater good. More eyeballs, more exposure, more money, and then
you end up getting what you're demanding on that T
shirt instead. Now we just can't help ourselves. It's All
Star weekend. You know, we've got a little bit of
a platform here. Let's go ahead and take a shot
of the best player. Is she the best player in
(19:52):
the league? Probably not, but she's the most talked about
and she's the one that can get you places It's like, look, man,
Tiger Woods. There was a time when I remember having
this discussion on the air because there were people that
are like, man, you know, Tiger's not the same player
he was. You know there's more guys in this tournament
than just Tiger Woods. Okay, fair, but why diminish that
(20:15):
you would want him in every single tournament? To make
the cut in every single tournament because more people are
going to watch, and it's better for business, it's better revenue,
it's more exposure. If I was these WNBA players, I
would go above and beyond to welcome her, in celebrate her,
get more positive feedback and more positive conversation around it,
(20:36):
as opposed to give us a T shirt all and
let's point out the fact that she was not there
for the initial meeting before she eventually put on the shirt.
I don't understand it. I don't get it at all.
It would be like trying to grow this show and
ripping you publicly. Who's going to listen to the show
if I'm sitting here bearing you publicly.
Speaker 6 (20:54):
Who would do that? Why?
Speaker 1 (20:55):
I think it doesn't help anybody involved, And for some reason,
they can't help themselves in doing this.
Speaker 5 (21:00):
What's odd too, is there's people and this is mostly
born on social media, who want to attack those who
are skeptical about the league. When if you look at
the ratings, yes, it's growing in viewership, there's some momentum there,
but a lot of it's tied around Caitlin Clark. I mean,
you can see the differentiated numbers from viewership with her
with an average about a million versus viewership without her,
(21:22):
and it's half that, sometimes way less. And when you
factor then in compared to other sports, you realize there's
a long road ahead. And then when you look at
the estimates of what some of these WNBA franchises are worth.
For example, the Las Vegas a ass Mark Davis purchased
them in twenty twenty one, so four years ago, you
(21:44):
know how much you paid for him two million bucks.
The franchise value right now supposedly is two hundred and
ninety million dollars. So are we really supposed to believe
they've increased in value six nine percent in the last
four years?
Speaker 4 (22:04):
Is that?
Speaker 5 (22:05):
How much more like it's okay to be skeptical about this?
I mean, this happens in the stock market all the time,
where there's companies that again struggle to turn profits, had
bad quarters, bad years, and you're like, how the hell
are they you know, price as high as they are,
their price per share earnings ratio is off.
Speaker 4 (22:21):
There's always different ratios you're going to look at.
Speaker 5 (22:23):
Look at the New York Liberty. Okay, that was a
team that was purchased for ten million in twenty nineteen.
They've supposedly reached four and twenty million invaluation. The Atlanta
dream A get purchased twenty twenty one. I believe seven
to ten million someone in.
Speaker 4 (22:40):
That ballpark reportedly.
Speaker 5 (22:42):
Now it's the lowest of all of about one hundred
and ninety million. So there's some skepticism because we're not
seeing the crowds at the games.
Speaker 4 (22:51):
The viewership is better, but it's not dominated.
Speaker 5 (22:54):
It's not you know, packed, like we're a custas sing
unless usually it's Kaitlin Clark involved. I mean again, and
I already talked about the Phoenix Mercury or the Minnesota Linx.
I mean, those are franchises that again there were package
deals with their NBA teams, but again reportedly, there was
little consideration given to the valuations of both w NBA teams.
Speaker 4 (23:15):
I mean, I mean, so when they keep pushing to
be paid more. The problem is, I feel like there's a.
Speaker 5 (23:21):
Lot of people out there on the outside who they
look at the entire league and say, it'll warn't being
paid more when you're there, But it's not there yet.
And part of the issue is you're attacking quite possibly
the most the most you know, the best player, maybe
the most polarizing player.
Speaker 6 (23:41):
However you want to describe it.
Speaker 4 (23:42):
And there keeps paying everything outside of the actual game itself.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
I don't, I just I don't. It makes no sense
to me. That's why. Look, you know, you talk about
we were mentioning boxing earlier, like there's a reason why
more boxers are now starting to be.
Speaker 6 (23:59):
Open minded to Jake Paul.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
On a card fighting him because they realized the opportunity
in the eyeballs he brings. Like they're realizing, oh, we
kind of need this. It helps everybody involved, and for
some reason, they just wanted to diminishure every chance they get.
I don't get it doesn't make any sense. It is
two pros and a cup of Joe. Here on Fox
Sports Radio, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you here coming
up next, though, we are going to tell you about
(24:25):
somebody who is demanding change. They would like something changed,
and they're willing to go out at all costs to
get it done. We've got it for you right here
on FSR.

Speaker 3 (24:50):
Hey, we're Cavino and Rich Fox Sports Radio every day

Speaker 6 (24:55):
But here's the thing.
Speaker 3 (24:55):
We never have enough time to get to everything we
want to get.
Speaker 9 (24:58):
To, and that's why we have a break new podcast
called over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun
in our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for. Yeah, you blubber list jam in me.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
Well, you know what it's called over promise. You should
be good at it because you've been over promising women
for years.
Speaker 9 (25:17):
Well, it's a Covino and Rich after show, and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna
be talking sports, of course, but we're also gonna talk
life and relationships, and if Rich and I are arguing
about something or we didn't have enough time, it will
continue on our after show called over Promised.
Speaker 3 (25:31):
Well, if you don't get enough Covino and Rich, make
sure you check out over Promised and also Uncensored by
the way, so maybe we'll go at it even a
little harder. It's gonna be the best after show podcast
of all time.
Speaker 9 (25:41):
There you go, over Promising, and remember you could see
on YouTube, but definitely join us. Listen Over Promised with
Covino and Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or
wherever you get your podcasts.
Speaker 6 (25:53):
Two Pros and a cup of Joe.
Speaker 1 (25:54):
Fox Sports Radio Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with the hair
in about fifteen minutes from now, we're gonna up shop
on this Monday morning with another edition of Lee's Leftovers
that will be yours right here on FSR. You know,
some people would say when we started off this hour
talking golf and WNBA complaints that maybe that's not the
best way to keep an audience. So we're decided we're
(26:16):
tired of trying to divide here. We want to bring
in and have a conversation about somebody that I think
we can all be on the same page with President
Donald Trump, who took time out of his busy schedule
(26:40):
to point out that he thinks the Washington Commanders need
to go back to being called the Washington Redskins. Trump
had his thoughts on social media, saying the following, the
Washington whatever should immediately change their name back to the
(27:01):
Washington Redskins football team. There is a big clamoring for this.
Are great Indian people in massive numbers want this to happen.
Their heritage and prestige is systematically being taken away from them.
Times are different now than they were three or four
years ago. We are a country of passion and common
sense owners get it done. There's also the thought that
(27:24):
Trump might, on true social get involved in the building
of the new stadium for the Washington Commanders.
Speaker 10 (27:34):
Quote.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
I may put a restriction on them that if they
don't change the name back to the original Washington name
and get rid of the ridiculous moniker Washington Commanders, I
won't make a deal for them to build a stadium
in Washington. He also went on to say that he
wants the Cleveland Guardians to change their name back to
(27:55):
the Cleveland Indians.
Speaker 4 (27:58):
Let me guess they've already put out a statement.
Speaker 6 (28:00):
Lee.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
They have released a statement, have they? What was the
exact statement from the Guardians.
Speaker 11 (28:05):
The exact statement I don't have, but it did go
along the lines of that we have no intentions of
moving forward, that we have momentum gaining from the Guardian's name,
and we intend to move forward along with that.
Speaker 4 (28:20):
I mean, look, I'm only asking.
Speaker 5 (28:22):
That was my childhood team went through a lot of
heartbreak versus the Braves the.
Speaker 4 (28:27):
Marlins through those years. But look, here's the thing.
Speaker 5 (28:32):
I didn't put this on my notes for this because
I don't really have a strong passion either way. I
didn't play for Washington as the Commandos or the aforementioned name,
and look on that Chief Wahoo was cool. But apparently
some people were sensitive about it. So it's got to
be changed with the Guardians out the Guardians. I understand
(28:53):
the reason behind it. I just have a hard time
calling them the Guardians.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
I have heard it does feel like the changing of
the name back to the from the Commanders back to
the Redskins.
Speaker 6 (29:13):
It feels like that conversation is coming up a lot
more lately.
Speaker 1 (29:16):
For some reason, and I just I wonder how much
of that is people kind of throwing it out there
to see, you know, what if well, what if we,
you know, did go like how would this land sort
of a off launch, if you will, Like how would
this land to certain people? The problem is, you know,
(29:36):
when the president getts involved, you know, your usual suspects
are going to push.
Speaker 6 (29:41):
Back no matter what it is.
Speaker 1 (29:43):
And you know, with everything else going on, you know,
it feels like this would be way down at the
bottom of that list, no pun intended.
Speaker 5 (29:51):
Yeah, what Why is the president the most powerful man
in the free world?
Speaker 4 (29:57):
Why is he taking up this issue?
Speaker 5 (30:00):
I mean, it's just sports fan, man. You know, that
was probably one of the funnier things that Shane Gillis
talked about in regards to Turn the SP's you know,
have an opportunity to be around Trump and just listen
to him talk about sports. He's like, doesn't know what
he's talking about with sports, you know, talking about just
(30:21):
the way you can talk about each of the teams
that would visit the White House. But I digress, Like,
there are so many more important things we could be
focusing on instead of this.
Speaker 1 (30:32):
I don't get it, man, don't yeah, it is very strange,
but nonetheless, who knows. Maybe you know, if the if
the Guardians have a change your heart, you can go
back and get all that merchandise out again, and go
back and get all that all that good stuff.
Speaker 4 (30:47):
You know. I think I got a couple of hats.
I never I wasn't a big jersey guy. You know.
Speaker 5 (30:51):
You know those guys used to have like every player's
jersey when they were kid.
Speaker 4 (30:54):
I was never that guy.
Speaker 1 (30:55):
All right, if you could have, if you could have
one Cleveland Indians jersey from your childhood favorite player growing up,
who would it be?
Speaker 12 (31:03):
Mmm?
Speaker 4 (31:03):
I'm torn.
Speaker 5 (31:05):
I mean Albert Bell on his heyday used to mash
was gassed up.
Speaker 4 (31:10):
Well.
Speaker 5 (31:11):
I think when he attacked that photographer whoever it was too,
that was kind of awesome.
Speaker 4 (31:15):
I did.
Speaker 5 (31:15):
I did love kenne Lofton just the way he played
the game. Something about him, but I don't know. Maybe
Omarvis Quell I enjoyed watching him and he was like
moved like a cat out there.
Speaker 6 (31:27):
Jose maybe one of those three, No, Jose Mason.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
What about when Albert Bell chased those kids down that
were trick or treating? Remember that story.
Speaker 4 (31:40):
There's a lot of albebt stories. It probably would have
been an Albert.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
Can you look this up? I think he chased him down.
The kids like either ding Dong ditched him or they
they yelled something at him on Halloween. They were trick
or treating and he ended up chasing these kids down.
Albert Bell, Uh leave, you could uh look this up
real quick?
Speaker 5 (32:04):
What do we got on He's he's still waiting for
some callbacks from the various hotels we tried contacting for
a conference room.
Speaker 11 (32:10):
Yeah, California man found guilty of killing three door doorbell branksters.
Speaker 6 (32:14):
Is this the one that Albert Bell?
Speaker 11 (32:16):
No, No, it's funny that I put up Albert Bell
and that came up.
Speaker 12 (32:22):
But yeah, geez, Lee, it's funny that came He's not
a murderer, all right. He just likes his privacy and
he likes his space while he's dropping bombs.
Speaker 6 (32:36):
All right, let's see. Uh all right, so I'm looking
it up here.
Speaker 4 (32:40):
We always pivot from Lee. Lee gets one shot at it.
I was doing something, Lee, What were you doing?
Speaker 10 (32:48):
I was prepared for these leftovers?
Speaker 4 (32:50):
Shouldn't you do that before the show?
Speaker 11 (32:53):
Yeah?
Speaker 10 (32:53):
It's always the last second thing, all right?
Speaker 6 (32:55):
So here we go. Well, it's the end of the show.
I mean, what do you you know there's not enough time?
Speaker 10 (33:03):
Well, there's always there's you can always improve what.
Speaker 4 (33:08):
You don't have anything for Lee's leftovers? Do you're looking
at it right now?
Speaker 6 (33:11):
All right? All right, here we go, I got I
got the incident here, all right?
Speaker 1 (33:14):
This from so here's what happened on Albert Bell Brady
Quinn's favorite players as a kid, uh Cleveland Indian player.
So apparently as soon as the door closes, we hear
a bombardment of egg shells on my door, battle Bell said,
published by the La Times. Consequently, an angry Bell was
(33:36):
caused was accused of chasing after the teenagers in his
car in a fit of rage. He also threatened to
kill them over the phone by dialing nine one one.
You better get somebody over here, because if I find
one of them, I'll kill them.
Speaker 6 (33:50):
That according to report.
Speaker 1 (33:53):
But again, if kids are gonna throw eggs at the
guy's front door, I'm sorry.
Speaker 5 (33:58):
Yeah, like that's you leave yourself op until whatever rage
comes from a roided up baseball player anyone else for
that matter.
Speaker 6 (34:05):
Yeah, that's not not a wise to say.
Speaker 5 (34:07):
I mean, if not everyone can be like leave or
they egg his front door. He's like a man.
Speaker 10 (34:11):
Man, don't don't.
Speaker 13 (34:13):
I was gonna use those for breakfast dah for what
I mean from what your childhood.
Speaker 11 (34:23):
No, I mean that definitely happened, and I think we
all went through those phases right where it just goes
back and forth. You someone eggs you, you egg them.
Speaker 6 (34:32):
Oh you know what somebody did at our house?
Speaker 4 (34:34):
What's the last time you egged something? Hold on? Probably
feel like it's been a lot sooner than it should be.
Speaker 11 (34:38):
No, it was high school for sure, like was it. Yeah,
although although definitely you what, I be honest, No, I
think it's an awful I think egging is like pretty harmful.
Speaker 10 (34:50):
It's it's it's messes up the pain on your car. Absolutely,
I learned the hard way.
Speaker 1 (34:54):
You know what they junior senior pranks. Somebody used mustard
on the wall of my parents house, and that was
that was a pain in the ass to get off,
like sprayed mustard.
Speaker 4 (35:05):
All over the wall and then through.
Speaker 1 (35:08):
Eggs also tee beeing like toilet paper in the tree.
That seems like kind of a pain in the ass.
Speaker 4 (35:13):
Upon Yeah, but that's a lot down.
Speaker 10 (35:15):
That's that's harmless in comparison, I think that's.
Speaker 4 (35:17):
The way to go. Well, not when you have the
run of the bathroom. No one's got a TP that's true,
that's bad.
Speaker 1 (35:22):
Or you could just not vandalize anybody's house. It could
be that there's that too.
Speaker 4 (35:26):
Yeah. I personally sign with Alberbella this one, just say yeah.
Speaker 6 (35:29):
So there you go.
Speaker 1 (35:30):

Speaker 2 (36:43):
It's Lee's lap.
Speaker 6 (36:44):
Jobs, all right? The laugh? What do we got?
Speaker 10 (36:46):
Good news for fans of Teller of the Creator.
Speaker 11 (36:48):
He's done a surprise release of his new album, Don't
Tap the Glass, So if you want, you can go
find the full album out there. That's pretty cool for
all you fans out there.
Speaker 4 (36:59):
I just saw that great, good start.
Speaker 5 (37:01):
Yeah, have you got an update for any of the
hotels and the conference?
Speaker 10 (37:05):
I double checked. No, they haven't got They haven't gotten
back to me yet.
Speaker 6 (37:08):
But what does Tyler the Creator have to do with you?
It's your leftovers?
Speaker 2 (37:15):
You know.
Speaker 10 (37:15):
I'm just letting the fans out there. No, I like
Tyler the creators good dude, Uh well.
Speaker 4 (37:20):
You met him? Well here delivered a pizza to him.
Speaker 11 (37:22):
Yeah one time, No kidding, I have them. There was
a story I was gonna tell, but it turns out
it was three years old. This was uh handed down
to us from Iowa Stam and we're like, eh, let's
do this story.
Speaker 10 (37:34):
Turns out I looked into it.
Speaker 11 (37:35):
I was like, no, that's from twenty that's twenty twenty
one where a rescue workers in Japan, big team of
rescue workers jumped in to save a woman who was drowning.
Turns out that woman was a sex doll. But they
did rescue the sex doll from from from drowning, so good,
good job, good job.
Speaker 4 (37:52):
Then have you got a different take on that story?
All right?
Speaker 5 (37:54):
I think that was one of the rescuers sex doll.
I mean, how can you not tell it's a sex doll?
Speaker 4 (37:59):
What do you mean?
Speaker 12 (37:59):
Serio?
Speaker 4 (38:00):
Right now?
Speaker 5 (38:01):
Yeah, you do this for a living where you're rescuing
people and you couldn't tell the difference between a real
human and a sex doll.
Speaker 6 (38:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (38:08):
And by the way, how many human beings are lying
around in the water with that surprised look on their face,
you know what I mean?
Speaker 4 (38:15):
Yeah, they opened mouth.
Speaker 6 (38:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (38:18):
I don't know about you, but I've swam plenty of times.
Never once did I swim like this with my mouth
wide open. So it just feels like that would have
been a dead giveaway. Yeah that that's not a human being.
Speaker 10 (38:30):
Missing some limbs in part of the head too.
Speaker 6 (38:32):
So hey, yeah, some of those dolls like it rough.
Speaker 11 (38:35):
They too, uh Lreina. This weekend she had an interesting
concoction from the fair. Oh Seafair, I believe bean and
cheese ice cream coat?
Speaker 10 (38:48):
Is that right? A waffle cone? Yeah?
Speaker 14 (38:50):
God really, yes, it was like a bean and cheese burrito,
but instead of a tortilla, they put it inside of
a waffle cone. Oh and they even dipped like the
rim of the cone like you would do like chocolate.
Speaker 6 (39:02):
Right.
Speaker 14 (39:02):
Instead it was nacho cheese sauce like a queso with
shredders cheese. Oh my gosh, it was actually delicious.
Speaker 10 (39:09):
I ate the whole thing.
Speaker 4 (39:10):
I mean.
Speaker 1 (39:10):
One of my favorite shows on TV is Carnival Elite.
You ever see Carnival Elites on Now and Network. Some
of the stuff people come up with at carnivals.
Speaker 6 (39:22):
And people like it.
Speaker 1 (39:24):
They're into that, and so you go to the fair
like you could either get just one of those giant
turkey legs like you're at medieval times, or you can
just go get a waffle cone.
Speaker 10 (39:34):
Deep fried oreos.
Speaker 6 (39:36):
Yep, there's that too. What else you got leave?
Speaker 11 (39:41):
Comic Con is starting this week for all you nerds
out there. Yeah, and one thing I'm looking forward to.
Speaker 10 (39:46):
I'm just reading up all of what's comic again.
Speaker 11 (39:48):
Comic Con is It's always in San Diego every year,
and it's basically every comic book deal. It is a
big comic book deal, but it ranges, you know, obviously
now that's expanded to the cinematic universe of Mar, so
you get a bunch of movie nerds in there, all
about the you know, the superhero movies and stuff like that.
And they've announced that there's gonna be a John Carter
of Mars animated series. This was the book that got
(40:10):
me reading when I was a kid, So I'm looking
forward to this.
Speaker 10 (40:12):
Uh yeah, so that's my Lee's leftovers.
Speaker 4 (40:18):
This was the worst.
Speaker 10 (40:19):
I'm sorry. Sorry, I'm gonna see if the dogs alive
