Speaker 2 (00:28):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
This hits a little different with LeVar not being here.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
I'll be honest, what's that supposed to be? I mean,
you just you know, he likes the strip club music.
He has more fun with it. You're a little like uptight,
like the hands in his pocket guy playing pocket pools.
Speaker 4 (00:53):
And that's not true. That's not true.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Then Veronica, Veronica is on stage and just gets a
little excited.
Speaker 4 (01:02):
You know, Hey, listen, Remember I don't know eve'n going
to say that. I realized, I realized what direction we
were going down, and I'm not going to do that.
I'm an adult here, broadcast professional. Some would say.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
That'd be shocked, shocking, given the last few days I
would say this that you guys are too.
Speaker 4 (01:22):
You got to open up your range on strip club
music because strip club music is not just rap or
hip hop.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
No stop, man, We've done this before. We've had this conversation.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
I'm the one who started playing the buck Cherry, so
stop like we've been that, we've through this, this conversation.
Speaker 4 (01:38):
Forty six and two by Tool, greatest strip club metal
song of all time.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
Just look it up.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
It is two pros and a cup of Joe. Here
on Fox Sports Radio, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you.
You can hang out with us as always on the
iHeartRadio app, and you can find us on hundreds of
affiliates all across the country and wherever you are making
us a part of your Thursday morning, we appreciate it.
We'll be taking you all the way up until nine
am Eastern time six o'clock Pacific. By the way, we're
going to get a jump on this early because we've
(02:06):
got a lot of phone lines to fill. We've got
a thousand phone lines here at the network, and there's
a lot of misnomers about what we got going on here.
People assume that because we have issues with streamyard and zoom.
We've got duct tape and cords. We've got a random
screwdriver just sitting on the desk that nobody's using. There's
a cockroach that ran across Lee's desk yesterday that he
(02:28):
smashed with his hand and then thought that he was
going to clear everything off with the couple of drops
of hand sanitizer that's been sitting here since COVID. So Lee,
you know, he's got all that going on. But just
so you know, we've got a thousand phone lines here
at this studio, at this network.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
All right, eight.
Speaker 4 (02:48):
Seven seven ninety nine on Fox is the phone number
eight seven seven nine nine six six three six y nine.
We give that number out because we are going to
bring back Headliner Lie.
Speaker 5 (02:57):
All right.
Speaker 4 (02:58):
We do this whenever LeVar is not here, which you
know is often these days. But whenever LeVar is not here, uh,
Brady and I will go back to the good old
days of Sunday night radio with the drunks, you know,
with the people out there just just licking the lid
who wanted to call in and play games, and we'll
(03:18):
do another edition of Headline or Lie. So if you
want to be a part of that, you can be
a part of that. It's going to be coming up
here in about fifteen minutes from now. So, Lee, are
you gonna be able to manage the stream yard link
and the one thousand phone lines? And people start to
call in to want to participate in this game show?
Speaker 6 (03:36):
Well, I'm a multitask master today. Yes, I think I'll
be able to do that. Are you you have no idea?
Speaker 3 (03:44):
Brady? Oh okay, yeah, you're behind the scenes.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
He's got he's got a lot of different computers going on,
and usually I'm are you good?
Speaker 6 (03:54):
Usually I'm on four different computers today and I think
I'm on eight. I'm an octopus today.
Speaker 7 (03:59):
Yeah, some person, that's for sure.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
And you know it's a good day because Lee is
he's got his sunglasses on.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
Lee was last night? Was that a night of sleep
in a bed or on a couch?
Speaker 6 (04:13):
It was in my bed, It was on my Yeah, interest,
progress was very, very comfortable.
Speaker 7 (04:19):
Maybe not as much sleep as I'd like, but it.
Speaker 4 (04:22):
Was in a comfortable She did ere Lee, well done?
Speaker 7 (04:25):
Yeah, yeah, uh you.
Speaker 6 (04:28):
I did have also some technical issues yesterday, but again
in the bedroom.
Speaker 7 (04:33):
No, not in the bedroom.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
Oh okay, I'll say Jonas has a blue Chee read
that you should probably listen to that.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
Yeah, I mean hope you're paying attention. Yes, Lee, Uh
Lee had his phone taken from him at one point
last night.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
Oh yeah, yeah. Nothing good can come from that, Lee.
Speaker 6 (04:54):
It wasn't for the reason you might you might think,
but uh yeah, I was without my phone for a
few hour or so. I got it back and I
had a few things I had to respond to, so
it was a little limp.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Can I just ask this, sure, what do you think
that I'm thinking that's still while your phone got taken away?
Speaker 7 (05:10):
I think you think it was taken by somebody close
to me.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
Like like right next to you in bed, right out
of a.
Speaker 6 (05:18):
Moment of anger or vengeance of some sort, which it
was not. I willfully gave it away.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
No, it was one of those bums, was it. No.
Speaker 6 (05:26):
I went to I went to one of my famous
movie screenings last night, and they take away your your phone.
Oh that's cool, Yeah, while you're While you're there, so
they lock it up.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
You're allowed to say what movie?
Speaker 7 (05:36):
I am not allowed to say what movie.
Speaker 6 (05:37):
I will say it was very good, and I will
look forward to giving you heads up on that months.
How about a genre. Uh, it was action sci fi.
You can't even say what the movie?
Speaker 7 (05:48):
I cannot say what the movie?
Speaker 4 (05:49):
Nope? Really nope? What are they going to do? Was
somebody gonna come in here and arrest you?
Speaker 7 (05:54):
I will be sued.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
That's such a cool suit.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
How are you going to be such a crock?
Speaker 7 (05:59):
I will be soon?
Speaker 4 (06:00):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (06:00):
And aren't you not like officially part of the well
I'm not gonna name what it is. And aren't you
like a quasi official member?
Speaker 4 (06:11):
Uh?
Speaker 7 (06:11):
No? And even if I was. Even if if I was,
then it would be even worse.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
Yeah, isn't it Cisco and Liebert? Isn't that the Yes?
Speaker 6 (06:20):
I found I found a Twitter handle yesterday called lead
to lead a fart that I had never seen before,
and it is brilliant.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
Can you read those?
Speaker 4 (06:29):
And Lee's Leftovers?
Speaker 5 (06:30):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (06:32):
Leftover? I didn't know it existed? Did you around?
Speaker 4 (06:35):
Do you have a parody account? I do have a
You've made it?
Speaker 7 (06:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (06:40):
All right?
Speaker 4 (06:41):
So again eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight
seven seven nine nine six six three six nine. If
you want to be a part of Headliner Live, that'll
be yours here again coming up in about fifteen minutes
from now. Von Miller, He's got thoughts. He was on
the Glory Days podcast having a conversation with fellow Texas
(07:02):
A and m Alum Johnny Manziel, and he had this
to say regarding the debate between Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.
Speaker 8 (07:11):
You know, obviously it's gonna be a debate between Peyton
Manning and Tom Brady.
Speaker 9 (07:14):
Who's the best? You know, for me, it would always
be Peyton Manning. He changed the quarterback position from Chickie Chicky.
Speaker 8 (07:20):
You know this more than me.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
You can quarterback from Cheke Checkie.
Speaker 9 (07:22):
Change the play, come on, check the play, change the
play again, go over top. He wasn't scrambling and doing
all that stuff. He did it all with his arm
and it was beautiful.
Speaker 5 (07:29):
Man.
Speaker 8 (07:29):
And people say the guys are humble, but like Bro,
he's so humble.
Speaker 9 (07:33):
He knew every single guy in the facility where it's
the janitors, all the coaches.
Speaker 8 (07:37):
He had a personal relationship with everybody.
Speaker 9 (07:39):
He was the first person and truly the first person
in the building whenever you pulled up.
Speaker 8 (07:42):
You see his music because he drove for Buick, because
he had the Buick deal. I had a fundraiser event
for Bun's vision.
Speaker 9 (07:47):
He was there, man was he was all about his guys,
all about his teammates.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
So that was Von Miller sharing his thoughts on who's
the goat, Peyton Manning or Tom Brady. I don't look, man,
there is no right answer. There's no wrong answer to
each their own. He's going to defend his former teammate
and stick up for his former teammate obviously, just like
you know Gronk or Teddy Bruski, you're going to stick
(08:14):
up for Tom Brady and say he's the goat. It
just it's whatever your preference is.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
Yeah, it's funny too.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
I mean he should be going as your quarterback to
do out and support you at your foundation event, right
Like that's more like a guarantee or a given. I
do think it's what's interesting about it, if you really
want to go down that wormhole. There is some things
that Peydon did that Tom Brady never did. Paydon won
more MVPs, he was more first team All pros, he
(08:44):
had one less Pro Bowl, and he didn't play nearly
as long. You know, won Super Bowls at two different
places just like Tom did. So it didn't win as
many obviously as Tom did. But I think from an
individual standpoint, there's no doubt. Like you can you can
make the case that Vaughan's trying to make. We just
we tend to look and value the quarterback position as
(09:06):
one that gets.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
The credit for the wins, in particularly the Super Bowl wins.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
So you know, Joe Montana was the guy before, you know,
really Peyton Manning or Tom Brady for that matter, And
now that Tom's won that many you know, people look.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
At Tom Brady as that guy.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Maybe there's still some people who they're like Joe Montana,
you know, win in four not losing any was up there.
I mean, I know that's how Tom Brady felt, that's
who he idolized. But again it's I hate these discussions
and arguments because you're talking about a different era, a
different time.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
You know, Peyton was given the tools and the ability
to do what he did at the line of scrimmage.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
You know, if you asked a bunch of guys to
that place to their strengths, they may never maybe never
had the opportunity to do it because they have an
offensive coordinator who won a complete control and right, wrong
or indifferent, that's just how it went. You know, Like
for example, my first two years Notre Dame, you know,
was much more, Hey, you're running the play that's called.
(10:04):
There were definitely check with me's where you have two
plays in there and you're picking the best of the
two plays. But it was nowhere near what I was
asked to do my junior senior season, you know, granted
a little bit older. But also Charlie Weiss came in.
He had a new England Patriots style system. You know,
at times I could audible, I could just get out
of place completely and go to whatever I wanted.
Speaker 3 (10:21):
I could change protections, I could change routes. You had
like literally a.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
Check with me system, often in particular in situations. So
there was an entirely different feel for that offense and
the control I was able to have, you know, versus
my first two years.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
Then I got in the NFL and.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
Rob Tazinski was a great play caller, by the way,
he didn't do quite as much of that, you know,
it was much more on the heye, we're calling this play.
You're running this play. We ustill have plays called Kerrie
and stand up for a car. I call it and
run it. So like, no matter what look you got,
you're running that play, and you know, it can be
good and bad.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
If you have a good play caller. If you have
a bad one, it could be disaster.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
So you know, everyone's got their different styles, of different
ways to go about doing it.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
I've seen all of it work, honestly. But for Peyton
that you know.
Speaker 1 (11:13):
X's and o's, that that his general at the line
of scrimmage. His command was definitely one of the things
that he held over almost everyone he was playing against
because he was such a student of the game. How
he was prepared for, you know, playing quarterback in the
NFL with his dad hadn't played in the NFL. And
then you know, you listen to him talk about how
he knows everyone's you know name in the organization.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
I remember he was. I heard a story of him
going to the combine.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
He knew everyone's name of every team of you know,
every single person he.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
Met with at the COMMA. Like he was that far
ahead of everyone else.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
I remember my agent telling me that, and I was
like trying my best to study up to be prepared
for that.
Speaker 4 (11:53):
And that was Peyton Manning.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
Wow, And like he was and so was I Like
made flash cards and I was like trying to look
through the whole hardest thing is you would I would
look through like the uh, the mugshots of some of
the different coaches of personnel people, and they look a
lot different in person, you know, saying like you see
you see somebody, like I don't want to say it
wrong if it's not him, you know, like, and so sometimes.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
I was like I thought that might have been him,
and it was him.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
Sometimes I was like, oh god, glad I didn't say that,
Like that was definitely not the right guy.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
Yeah, it's like the whole uh, the Brady Manning thing.
It just do you value the and and obviously you've
got to value the Super Bowl wins because they are important.
But that's why, like, like if you ask quarterbacks, they'll say, hey,
who is like the most talented quarterback of all time?
A lot of them will point to Dan Marino. Dan
Marino never won a Super Bowl, And so there's there's
(12:42):
just different argument. You just you can't go wins and
losses because and you'll pick and choose. And I'm guilty
of this as well too, because there's people that were
making the claim, like man if Patrick Mahomes has got
some time here, maybe he could catch Tom Brady, and
I'm like, he's never going to catch Tom Brady because
Tom Brady beat him twice in the playoffs. One of
them was a Super Bowl and you know, the other
(13:04):
was on the road. It was early, and so I
fall victim to that when look, you can go to
to Peyton Manning and Tom Brady and and we can
talk about, well, you know, Brady's got an eleven and
six career record against Peyton Manning. It's not like Peyton
Manning didn't beat him in playoff games. He beat him
in a couple of AFC title games. So like you
could start to play this game and do this dance,
(13:27):
and it's just personal preference, Like is your what is
your preference to me? I actually wonder if the more
interesting comp is going to be Peyton Manning versus Patrick Mahomes,
Like who would be the best, because Patrick Mahomes has
already got him in Super Bowls. Peyton Manning has you know,
has got all these different stats and records and changed
(13:47):
the game and and all this, and so that's the
one that I look at and go, well, that'll be interesting.
But yeah, because Tom Brady was in the league, people
forget how great Peyton Manning was. It's like Philip Rivers
versus Eli. There's a lot of people that are gonna
choose Eli Manning because he won the two Super Bowls.
Look at Philip rivers numbers. Philip Rivers had a great career,
better than than Eli Manning did. But it's just you
(14:10):
get caught up in this stuff and there's no wrong answer.
It's just people who they want to turn this into
Jordan versus Lebron and it's just not because both guys
have an argument to be Jordan.
Speaker 3 (14:21):
You know what's interesting too.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
I mean I grew up in the Midwest, so I
was closer to Indianapolis, and I remember we went over
as a team to go watch them play, and that
was part of the I guess the aura of Peyton
Manning was he was must see TV for any quarterback
and even just the operations of the Colts, right, guys
like Marvin Harrison, Reggie, Wayne Dallas Clark. I mean, all
(14:44):
these guys, the way they'd moved them around, the way
they'd throw to them, the way they they worked to them.
How he would you know, command the entire offense just
back in the day, back when they're in that dome
before they you know, built Lucas Oil. You know, the
way the crowd, you know, you get the crowd to
go down, you know, he way for everyone to you know, silent,
And it really was pretty crazy how quiet that place
got when they're on offense until the big player, until
(15:05):
they scored, and then he'd be quieting back down again.
And then there's you know, there's shots of him doing
that in Denver. But a lot of these, like younger
kids don't really understand just how good paid Manning was,
and I don't know that they appreciate how good he was,
especially considering like it was a lot of a lot
of more mental than anything else. I think nowadays kids
see the ridiculous throws and you know, the off platform
(15:28):
throws of someone like Patrick Mahomes or Lamar Jackson or
Josh Allen, and that's what they that's what they're intrigued by.
They're intrigued by the big on, They're intrigued by the
side on throw, the no look throw. It's all the
flashness to it, you know, not a lot of the
things that made Paydon Manning so special in regards to
getting his team in the you know, perfect play, the
timing and rhythm of when he got the ball out
(15:49):
before the guy was even out of his cut. Just
the accuracy of what he threw the football, always making
it a catch and run ball so the receiver could
get yards after the catch.
Speaker 3 (15:58):
There's like all those little nuances of.
Speaker 1 (15:59):
The game that you have to love if you were,
you know, a player back then. I mean, granted, you look,
Peyton was a better athlete people ever gave him credit,
and he had a stronger arm that people gave him credit.
But you go back and watch the tape, it's like
it was just it was so much fun to see
how he ended up dissecting things. So again, i mean
we're kind of you know, pumping the pumping up, you know,
(16:20):
Peyton in comparison to Tom Brady. But the reality is
it was one of the greatest eras ever in NFL history,
as far as two of the best quarterbacks to ever
do it. And then you added a guy like Rogers,
you added you know, some of the others that played
during that era, Roethlisberger. Roethlisberger as well. It was and
different styles, you know, different styles when you watch the
(16:40):
way they played the game.
Speaker 4 (16:42):
Yeah, Michael Vick was floating around there like and he
was doing it a completely different way. Yeah, like I
I went. And also, look we can talk about and
what Tom Brady did in Tampa was incredible And you've
laid this out before, man Peyton Manning and Denver good god,
they were unbelievable. We were doing on offense like just
(17:02):
with you know, Decker and and Damarius Thomas to those guys,
and Julia'toman was there, yeah, all those guys. So yeah,
both both had a hell of a run in the NFL.
