(02:23):
was the start of the long Labor Day college football weekend.
Hell yeah, college football's back. Oh yeah, full throttle, full bottle.
And it started off with what some people might look
at as an upset. But can you really claim an
upset if a team's twenty fifth in Week one? Can
(02:45):
you really claim that as an upset based on what
South Florida did? Because who the hell knows what you know?
Florida State, I think was a top ten team last
year and they got annihilated.
Speaker 6 (02:54):
Yeah, there's like a number of teams Flida State, Text
and m those two are the biggest culprits as far
as being ranked in the top twenty five to start
a season then finishing much.
Speaker 7 (03:04):
Lower than their ranking. But yeah, look, last night was awesome.
Speaker 6 (03:09):
A ton of college football on a ton of a
ton of cool storylines. Obviously Eddie George, head coach of
Boy and Green State, that he gets his first win.
Pretty dominant performance there. Deshaun Jackson at Delaware State did
not get his first win, but kind of kicking off
tenure as a head coach.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Yeah, it if they actually scored a touchdown that guy
called back that you know was a pivotal moment in
the game. But but go, yeah it was.
Speaker 6 (03:35):
No I was gonna say, you go going through the list.
I mean, Nebraska obviously tight win over Cincinnati, that was
a cool atmosphere. I'm not sure either Cincinnati or you know,
Nebraska's going to play a big factor into the Big
twelve or Big Ten. Most likely more spoilers. Maybe they
could pull off some upsets. But there's probably a lot
of conversation you could have about Matt Rule. Where's he
at in his tenure? Dylan Ryola, you know, what's what's
(03:57):
he going to be or how is.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
He going to be viewed?
Speaker 6 (03:59):
Give and all the hype about him coming into that
Nebraska program coming out of high school.
Speaker 7 (04:04):
Yeah, but you go on down the line.
Speaker 6 (04:05):
I mean, a lot of good football last night, Wisconsin
low scoring win, their quarterback, their transfer quarterback, Billy Edwards,
who came from Maryland. He went down with a lower
body injury. So right away Wisconsin and Luke Coole already
you know, hit with some adversity. We'll see what that
looks like moving forward. But you know, just a great
night of football altogether.
Speaker 4 (04:25):
I mean, you got by the way Armies playing later on.
Do you see Armies going to start serving booze at
their games? They were the last academy but not you know,
have alcohol, and now they're gonna get you know, get.
Speaker 6 (04:38):
A little back to your initial point though about the rankings.
It is interesting that, you know, and the Associated press
like they're trying to do their best, like the coach
boy everyone else, try to get it right. But I
really don't believe there should be rankings until the College
FOOTBA Playoff Committee comes out.
Speaker 7 (04:57):
Because the people doesn't matter. It really doesn't matter.
Speaker 6 (05:02):
And I think one of the things that it would
allow and force the College FOOTBA Playoff Committee to do
is actually watch the games, like, instead of looking at
a metric and blindly saying, well, they've got this money
wins over ranked opponents. Okay, but those are ranked opponents
with a poll that you guys don't believe in because
(05:23):
you have your own poll. So why are you giving
that any weight? Why don't just go watch the game?
Did they look like they were dominant? Did they look
like they were a team that should be playing for
the national championship? I mean, it's part of the gripe
I think with you know, when we have these committees,
how we go about putting a bunch of people in
a room to then select which twelve teams should play
(05:43):
off for right now or sixteen one day. Like it's
much easier when you have the NFL format and it's
just you've got qualifiers, and you know, those teams that play,
they they win, they get in. It's more subjective in
college football, and part of the problem is it's really
really hard if you are not ranked, to change the
perception of everyone else out there, including the College Football
(06:07):
Playoff Committee. If you are ranked, they go through the
years and look at all the teams that have been
maybe they're they're you know, the bottom of the top
twenty five or unranked coming into it. It literally takes
you nine weeks until the College Football Playoff Committee or
any other ranking that you let's use the eight people.
Since they go from wire to wire, it takes them
(06:29):
about nine weeks ten weeks before they start to actually
believe in those teams to get up to that point.
Speaker 7 (06:36):
And it's it's a.
Speaker 6 (06:36):
Problem because there's not enough you know, inclusion. I think
in looking at some of these teams that you know,
maybe they view them as the fortieth best team. Well
they didn't weeks one, you know, two and three, but
all of a sudden, by the end of the season,
maybe one of the best top ten teams.
Speaker 4 (06:51):
It's almost as if it does more bad than good,
you know, for teams that are lower on the rankings.
And you know what I hate about it too, is
I agree with you, we don't know whether these teams
are good or not. But I'm still a sucker for it.
Like I will side towards if two games are on,
I'm more likely to watch or at least check out
(07:11):
first the one that's got the little number next to
the teams. That's the point, that's the first thing I
look and I can't stand that I fall for it
every year, and I do like Texas, Ohio State's a
whole nother animal, like that's that's historic. We've never seen
anything like or not seen a lot of it like
it to open up a season. But I'm telling you
this weekend, I'm gonna fall victim to it. I'm gonna
watch a game or prefer to watch a game first
(07:32):
that's got a little number next to a name. So
it's still worse.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
It just gives you to feel in that it's a
more marquee matchup. But again, and it's always interesting because
it makes the loss or the when bigger, Like I
like Boise going down yesterday, it like made it bigger, Like, oh,
how should I feel about UCF? Whoa how should I
(07:57):
feel about Boise?
Speaker 3 (07:59):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (08:00):
They didn't have those rankings on their us F. What
was you you? Yeah? One of them? Yeah, there's one
of them, Florida to Yeah. I just think that it
makes the it makes the losses and the wins bigger
because in the end, if we're really thinking about it,
most teams aren't playing games like Ohio State and Texas
are going to do this weekend or Notre Damon and Miami.
(08:23):
You're not You're not seeing those types of match up history.
And what's that.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
Is?
Speaker 1 (08:30):
What say that again?
Speaker 7 (08:33):
Penn State.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
Here, you couldn't catch that that little little right now
you're doing. There's a little static on the line. Couldn't
hear what your little technical difficulties there. But my point
that I was making is you're not going to play
against teams where you can determine where they should be
ranked anyway on in early in the year, right And
so if you were to happen to be a team
(08:59):
that's a really really high ranked team or team people
are high on, and you end up losing to like
a no name school early on in the year, you know,
it's kind of like how do you how do you
judge them? I mean, we had that happen last year
and they ended up playing for a national title, you
know what I mean. So it's just kind of like,
how does that? You know, how are we supposed to
(09:22):
go about looking at how you rank them? And when
do you start? Do you start once they get into
conference play or you know, how how do you do it?
Because I don't think that you can get an accurate
readout one way or the other.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
What in the year, What about after four weeks? Like
if the AP wants to step in after four weeks,
after the first month of the season.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
Four weeks would represent you playing your first conference game, right,
because you have like two or three that are non conference, right?
Two or three? Is it three? Three? But three?
Speaker 4 (09:56):
Well, it depends on the conference. The SEC this year
will play four four.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
However, they're going.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
To be changing get to nine conference games next year.
Speaker 6 (10:03):
So yeah, but that's technically not true though. Some teams
play conference s games week one or weeks zero week one.
Speaker 1 (10:10):
We did it last year.
Speaker 7 (10:11):
We went week zero, Kansas State, IWA, STA just didn't so.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
Yep, yeah, yeah, So I don't know. I don't. I
don't really know how you come up with how to
start ranking them when you start ranking them, because I
don't know that you're going to get an accurate readout
on what type of teams these teams are. A team
could come out and blow a team out by sixty points,
and you know, once they get in the conference play
(10:37):
they can't win a game. But does that mean that
they should get ranked high? Because leading up to playing
their conference, you know opponents they've they've dominated everybody leading
up to those games. So it's like, how do you
do we wait till mid season? Maybe it's mid season,
midway through you know the conference, like amount of games,
(11:00):
maybe it's like eight games, you know, I don't know,
maybe it's seven games, And then you start looking at
it from the standpoint of what's their body of work,
because I think it's it's just going to be too
difficult to try to come up with that type of
determination with some of the teams that they like. Great,
you know, Eddie George one, you know what I mean,
(11:20):
but look at the team you played against, you know
what I mean, Like, I can't I could say I'm
happy that you got a dub, but I also could
say that that's a manufacturer dub. So it's kind of
and and that's a lot of that's a lot of teams.
That's a lot of teams are going to play manufactured
dub dub games. So I think it makes it difficult
(11:41):
to really accurately know what type of team that you're
seeing until they play big games, and for what it's worked.
If they play a big game, I don't know how
good they are because it's early in the year to
that point.
Speaker 6 (11:54):
And the other thing is teams grow, they change, you
know that they evolve, especially if we're talking about like
a state in Texas for example. I think we do
all agree this will be what arch Manning's third start
in his career, it will join sands. First, do we
all agree that they'll be better by the end of
the season, Yeah, than they are right now.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (12:13):
So, and then that goes for every player who's inexperienced.
But that's the hard part is, you know, so much
weight can go into these rankings, good and bad, and
meanwhile they could be completely meaningless.
Speaker 7 (12:28):
So I would almost say.
Speaker 6 (12:29):
On the side of just not doing them at all,
or doing them from week zero on and having the
one that matters the most, the College Football Playoff Committee
construct whatever ranking that is.
Speaker 7 (12:42):
But we know too, it's a way of selling it
for TV. Like when it comes down to it, you know,
this isn't the NFL.
Speaker 6 (12:49):
This is college football, and these brands, even though they're
regional and they're becoming more national and the players and
coaches are becoming more nationally recognized, we're.
Speaker 7 (12:57):
Not quite there yet.
Speaker 6 (12:58):
So I think in order to sell out of these games,
a lot of these brands, you still have to have
the ranking next to it because to your point lefar
like it feels bigger or Jonas for that matter. Like
like when we talk about I mean, shoot, I'll be honest,
Like calling a game. You know, when you're in the
booth calling a game and you have two teams that
are top twenty five ranked, it feels like a big game.
(13:20):
Like I remember going down to TCU. It was the
only game that weekend that was two top twenty five
teams scoring off. It was TCU, I want to say
maybe versus West Virginia and Game Day was there for it,
and I remember thinking to myself, like this is a
big deal. You know, this is a big game, and
I was excited about the opportunity of everything else then
(13:41):
they weren't two of the biggest brands. It's one of
the reasons why when I was on the number two crew,
like I got the opportunity to do it, but like
it was exciting for me just from the broadcast side.
And that's really what you're selling is you know the
Big twelve race and two top twenty five teams are
the best teams you know to have a shot at.
You know, have a shot at when it's all said
and done. So like I get it from that aspect
(14:02):
of it, but it just it feels unfair to a
lot of those teams that you know, could be just
sitting outside the top twenty five and unfortunately there's nothing
they can do to get within the top you know,
sixteen teams or so forth, you know, to get into
the playoff. Because if you go back and look at
last year, for example, it's not everyone always thinks all
the top twelve teams get in, and that's not how
(14:23):
it works. Like, that's not how the rankings work. It's
there's different you know, metrics in there to keep some
teams out. So Clemson, for example, was not a top
twelve team. I think there were sixteen. They end up
making it the College Football Playoff. So like the rankings
almost complicate things, if anything.
Speaker 4 (14:43):
Yeah, because once you have a full body of work,
you have a better understanding. Remember USC beat LSU last
year in Vegas and it was like, oh man, they're better. Yeah, Like,
oh USC is bad, They're gonna be good.
Speaker 6 (14:55):
There's million lashes of Matt Lioner, you know, riding a
trojan horse.
Speaker 4 (14:59):
Or something that everybody everybody was ball washing Miller Moss.
They're better without Caleb Williams. They're a better team without him.
And then he didn't even finish the year as a starter.
Like but you hear the fan base and everybody going crazy, which,
by the way, is Brian Kelly gonna win an opener
at the l s U at some point or is
that gonna Are we going to continue on this path?
(15:20):
Because what is the oh for three and openers at LSU.
They've got Clemson this upcoming weekend, so get the hands
full this weekend.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (15:29):
So, by the way, I was on with George Reister
yesterday we were filling in for.
Speaker 6 (15:33):
I saw that, Yes, someone someone reminded me that on Twitter,
you're out promoting that yet, and that Danny Canell. We
had Danny Canell on and just just so you know
for the a CC, well, he was not trying to
give any credits to anyone else.
Speaker 4 (15:47):
He was also uh relishing the fact that he had
the under in the Kansas State Iowa Iowa State game
last week, and I pointed out to him, I said,
you know, Brady Quinn had the over, so he was
on the opposite side of that bad beat, and he's like,
I love that. I love hearing that.
Speaker 6 (16:03):
So you know why he loves that because he got
his ass beat every time we did college football picks
and you can you can cut this off sent it
out to him.
Speaker 1 (16:10):
He knows it. It was. It was.
Speaker 6 (16:12):
It got sad to a one point like he'd be
like itching to try to come back and find a way,
but both him and Prisco took it. I mean absolutely
just took him to the woodshed. Oh by the way, Prisco,
we got to hold his balls to the fire.
Speaker 4 (16:26):
He was wasn't he saying earlier this week that he
guaranteed uh like he was calling a shot that the
show up and play and signed before the end of
the week. So so Prisco's got to be held accountable.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
He was on the wrong side of that bet. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 7 (16:44):
And you know he'll get defensive. You know he's gonna
be like a hyena backed into a corner.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
I mean, give me a break.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
What type of break do you need?
Speaker 4 (16:54):
Well, no, that was us, Prisco, That's one of his
go to us.
Speaker 1 (16:59):
I mean, give me a that was.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
Hyena.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
Laugh like a hyena laugh. You're about the Hyaenas are
our matriarchal They're not patriarchal. They're they're they're packs are
led by by females. Did you know that they have
mock you know, things, because they're they're the dominant ones. Yeah,
(17:28):
they they have what they were throwing on to the
w n b A courts. Really, they're not neon, but
they are camouflage to the the hyena.
Speaker 4 (17:42):
I mean, if it doesn't I mean, if it doesn't work,
what's the point it's a mock all right?
Speaker 1 (17:46):
Like I don't I don't know, but that's just a
little bit of interesting trivia for you.
Speaker 4 (17:52):
Fun fact.
Speaker 1 (17:54):
Yeah, and they're bigger than the males. Females are bigger
than the males. There you go.
Speaker 4 (18:01):
I had no idea.
Speaker 1 (18:02):
That's I think Rock could tell you to confirm it.
Speaker 7 (18:06):
This is the least interesting thing I've heard.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
You're not interested in the fact that hyenas.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
Are an animal that I'm never going to come in
contact with the rest of my life.
Speaker 6 (18:18):
Yes, I am not interested. I am all in on football.
That's all I care about right now? Does anybody a
football guy? Hashtag film breaking down Dylan Royle's footwork and
everything right now?
Speaker 1 (18:30):
You know, if you break down how animals hunt, you
could see how some people try to tackle when's uh Dylton?
Technically you could use that as you know, film study
as well.
Speaker 4 (18:41):
You know, I haven't seen a good tackle on the
safari in a long time, So dang, when's dyl for?
What is Dylan Royola going to give up the Patrick Mahomes?
Speaker 1 (18:51):
Look, that's never going to happen.
Speaker 6 (18:55):
I was having a conversation with someone last night. You know,
at what point do Nebraska fans like, like, where are
they at with him? I mean, look again, he play
as a freshman. It's always tough.
Speaker 7 (19:06):
I went through that.
Speaker 6 (19:07):
He's a highly touted guy, so it's gonna take some time.
But even that program, you know, someone had asked like, hey,
if they because that game was that getting that tight?
And they said, like, what happens if they dropped this game?
Like it's not like it's a very favorable schedule for
them in the Big Ten? And on top of it,
you know, where's where they at with that?
Speaker 1 (19:25):
Rule?
Speaker 7 (19:25):
Were they at with Dylan Ryola?
Speaker 6 (19:27):
I mean, and that's a program that I think, as
I'm just outwardly say it, Nebraska fans can get upset,
but they have unrealistic expectations.
Speaker 7 (19:33):
I think, and look at it.
Speaker 6 (19:36):
I look, I know, you go into every season everyone
thinks is gonna win a national championship, but they're not
that close. Like they don't have enough weapons on the
outside for him to throw to to consistently compete with
the Ohio States, the Penn States, the Organs, uh the
even Michigan for that matter. Like there's there's a lot
of you know, development and growth and roster building they
(19:57):
still have to do.
Speaker 4 (19:58):
Bo Palini winning nine games a year wasn't good enough,
and ever since then they've not They've not been the
same team.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
Using It's the truth, though, I get it.
Speaker 4 (20:09):
But you know, give me that fau Polini account they had,
by the way.
Speaker 1 (20:13):
Was pre electric.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
Was there a faux Polini account?
Speaker 1 (20:17):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (20:17):
Really, I didn't know that he was great by the way,
I was.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
You got to give him a chance.
Speaker 4 (20:22):
I didn't. I didn't realize PJ. Fleck's been at Minnesota
for eight years now. Yeah, he's been there a long
ass time. I think he just got an extension.
Speaker 1 (20:31):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (20:31):
They were talking about it last night, and I mean,
he's undefeated in bowl games. Like it feels like that's
a program that has realistic expectations. Nebraska probably doesn't because
they're still going back to the past. But it feels
like Minnesota understands, Hey, we've got some level of consistency here,
let's not screw it up with this guy.
Speaker 1 (20:49):
I hate Minnesota really ring my my last year school.
Speaker 7 (20:56):
They'll do They'll sneak up on you on the.
Speaker 1 (20:58):
Day of sneak up on you.
Speaker 4 (20:59):
Man, Damn Gophers.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
Not a fan of Minnesota.
Speaker 7 (21:04):
I was worried about that a little bit last night.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
Kind of kind of depressed me a little bit. Still
have a hard time living that one down Hail Mary
on fourth down and like Forever catches the ball, they
get down, they kick a field goal. Nay, they beat
us in the Happy Valley, taking away our opportunity to
(21:26):
play for a national tie. We slid anyway, We lost
the next two games as well.
Speaker 4 (21:30):
So damn.
Speaker 1 (21:31):
It's not a very very happy moment that I have
when I hear Minnesota and think about them being spoilers
or it could be good, it's just the bad.
Speaker 4 (21:40):
By the way, I Google searched Minnesota Hail Mary Penn State,
the first result that comes to watch it, Well, no,
it's the first result that comes up with LeVar Arrington
recalls nineteen ninety nine Minnesota upset of Penn State. So
you for a little while there.
Speaker 6 (21:57):
You gotta turn the page, buddy, and results gonna change.
Trust me, I keep I keep watching the Bush push
like that. They're not gonna throw a flag like that's
that's how it ends.
Speaker 8 (22:07):
This is my nightmare.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
Still hurts.
Speaker 7 (22:10):
You gotta turn the page, gotta move on.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
You know that hurts. I still got down with it.
Speaker 4 (22:18):
You know what I recommend you do.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
Try try fencing that that pushing pool leg.
Speaker 4 (22:26):
I mean, if you ever wanted to try an Olympic sport,
try that fencing. It's fast, it's safe, it's easy to start.
Find a beginner class near you at USA Fencing dot org.
Slash try fencing. That's USA Fencing dot org slash try fencing.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
That's pretty dope. That's really a read. I'm all in.
Speaker 4 (22:46):
I think it's a way of life personally, but you know, it.
Speaker 1 (22:49):
Takes a whole lot of skill to be able to fence.
Speaker 4 (22:51):
Man, you look like a fencer, Jonas, Yeah no, not.
You doesn't look like a fencer. Yeah more you Jonas.
You got that bad knee.
Speaker 1 (23:04):
You can't be quick on.
Speaker 4 (23:05):
That back knee.
Speaker 1 (23:06):
You know, you know that thing might buckle and collapse.
Speaker 4 (23:11):
Could you imagine you go to jab and you're just
and it's.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
Just added there.
Speaker 4 (23:15):
You got to drained.
Speaker 7 (23:16):

(25:11):
Fox Sports Radio, LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with
you here.
Speaker 4 (25:18):
Coming up in We'll call it about fifteen minutes from now.
Somebody has noticed something with their team and their fan base.
They've noticed something, all right, it's very, very jarring, but
very relatable to a certain segment of the population here
that listened to this show. We'll get into that for
you again coming up here a little over fifteen minutes
from now. So we are going to get the second
(25:40):
installment of Quinn's Wins here, all right, And for all
you out there that are like busting Brady Quinn's balls
about all what happened last week, Like, first of all,
trying to bet the first and last weeks of the
college football season or the NFL season in week seventeen eighteen,
when teams are just you know, tanking it or resting
(26:01):
players or have nothing to play for, it's a real
pain in the ass. So I give Brady Quinn credit
for at least trying it out in week one, you
know what I mean.
Speaker 7 (26:10):
Here's here's what i'd say.
Speaker 6 (26:11):
Here's what i'd say if some of you guys were
upset with the betting advice, fade me, go against me, go.
Speaker 7 (26:17):
Against me every time. Let let's sehere, you're gonna you're gonna.
Speaker 6 (26:19):
End up like Danny Knell in a body bag like
he was the last couple of years of CBS, or
Pete Prisco got shorter, all the weight of all those
NFL picks just beating down on Prisco the last two years.
He may probably like shrink probably one or two inches
or something like that. Yeah, go against me if that's
what you want to do.
Speaker 4 (26:39):
So, so what were you looking at last? Was it
about one and two last week?
Speaker 7 (26:43):
One and two last week? Yeah, which you know, I
get could have easily been too and one.
Speaker 4 (26:46):
But you know you were on the right side though.
That's the important thing.
Speaker 7 (26:49):
I'm not gonna say that, but uh I felt lucky
just to be in it for a moment in time.
Speaker 4 (26:54):
So then it is time for this.
Speaker 1 (26:57):
I'm winning.
Speaker 8 (26:58):
Listen up.
Speaker 1 (26:59):
Winning here is all illnesses, it really does.
Speaker 8 (27:02):
I'm going to win. It's Quinn's wins.
Speaker 7 (27:06):
Here's the deal.
Speaker 6 (27:07):
A lot of people they're making their picks, especially some
of the experts and so forth, they want to stay
away from the.
Speaker 7 (27:13):
Big games, the big boys.
Speaker 4 (27:14):
You know why.
Speaker 6 (27:15):
Just too much on the line, too hard to predict
what's gonna happen. You know how things are gonna go.
I'm not scared of that. All right, that's what you're
gonna watch. That's what I want to pick. So right
along with me, if you want if not fabing, we'll
sale works out for you. We're starting off with the
biggest game of the weekend in Columbus, Ohio, the Ohio
(27:35):
State buck Guys taking on the number one ranked Texas Longhorns,
led by the one and only Arch Manning. Now, this
entire game is gonna be build all about the quarterback play.
Don't get me wrong. That's gonna be a big piece
of it. Arch Manning, he carries the last name.
Speaker 7 (27:53):
Does he have the game? I do think he does.
Speaker 6 (27:56):
However, there's some concerns there the offense line. They're returning
only one starter from last season now, so those guys
have some experience. But that's a really tough environment to
go into one hundred thousand plus screaming their heads off
and against that defense, so there could be a lowest
scoring affair. I actually love the under in this game
(28:17):
for the reason of both quarterbacks being so in experienced.
Joint saying on the other side his first start and
you go back to their last matchup in the semi
final game. Pete Kukowski, the defensive coordinator for Texas, played
a lot of cover two. Didn't want to get beat
for any big plays. Texas defense was really good not
allowing big plays last year. So if anything, play the
(28:38):
under in this game of I believe it was at
forty six and a half. Jonas, keep being honest. Last
time I checked on drafting forty seven half? What depends
on the book, because I'm looking at something else right
now and still got a forty six.
Speaker 7 (28:50):
So I'll glad they take it.
Speaker 8 (28:51):
Yeah, seven Quinn's wins, you'll be a win.
Speaker 7 (28:56):
Next up pick for the game.
Speaker 6 (28:59):
Some people get they don't like to pick, they don't
like the numbers. Sitting here, it's one and a half.
Where I've got a Jonas, you probably have it at
what two and a half in your book?
Speaker 4 (29:06):
The game line on Texas Ohio State, I've got it
at one and a half? Right, I've got an edit book.
I've got it at Ohio State minus a half? What
books you look yet? Our friends at draftings?
Speaker 7 (29:19):
What do you mean?
Speaker 1 (29:19):
I love it?
Speaker 4 (29:20):
I'll lay the half point then go ahead. So where
are we at now?
Speaker 7 (29:22):
We got forty seven and a half and we're out
of half?
Speaker 3 (29:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (29:25):
Oh yeah, I'll gladly lay the half point with the
Ohio State buck guys basically pick him there And this
is why there's a lot of change in the staffs.
Matt Patrich comes in as defensive coordinator, obviously mostmemberent for
his head coach in the NFL. Uh you know, good
defensive mind. I think he's gonna get the defense playing
at a high level. They lost some pieces, there's some
concern there, but they also have a lot of guys
(29:45):
coming back kill them.
Speaker 4 (29:46):
Downs is arguably the best defensive player in the country.
Speaker 6 (29:49):
You've got sunny styles, You've got rvl Reese, Kenyata Jackson
off the edge, and there's a lot of stud players
on this defense still, so I think they'll be able
to figure it out. I think on offense too. This
is a game where Julian sand last year got to
watch how Will Howard handled things versus Texas.
Speaker 4 (30:07):
But the truth of the matter is joy and Sat was.
Speaker 7 (30:10):
A higher talent, highly touted recruit.
Speaker 6 (30:12):
He can spit the football around and you're gonna see
a coming out party for Carnel Tape as the number
two wide receiver in this Brandon Enis as well, and
then Max Claire that tied in that transferred in from Purdue.
He's gonna be a big time target for them. So
I like the Buckeyes one hundred thousand plus at home
taking care of business versus Texas.
Speaker 8 (30:32):
Twins, Whens.
Speaker 7 (30:35):
You want to go to.
Speaker 4 (30:37):
You got Alabama Land thirteen and a half. That's a
big number opening the season Versus Florida State.
Speaker 6 (30:45):
Although we've seen the recent struggles of Florida State. They've
tried to go to the transfer portal a number of times.
And by the way, Jonas, is it still.
Speaker 4 (30:52):
A thirteen and a half hour draft Kings, he's showing
an Alabama minor fourteen there, Brady, there we go.
Speaker 6 (30:56):
We'll go go ahead and make it an even number.
But I'm gonna the fourteen points here. Ty Simpson takes over.
The former five star, highly touted quarterback has waited his
turn there at Alabama.
Speaker 4 (31:08):
Now they are gonna be without jam Miller running back.
That hurts.
Speaker 6 (31:11):
However, I don't have any faith whatsoever and where Florida
State is at under Mike Norvel.
Speaker 7 (31:18):
This is a team that at.
Speaker 6 (31:19):
One point we were talking about them maybe should be
part of the College Foball Playoff, and.
Speaker 4 (31:22):
They've dropped off significantly since then.
Speaker 6 (31:25):
I think in Kaitlyn de Bors year two, you see
this team take care of business, be one of the
top teams in the SEC and get off to a
big start. You lay the fourteen points even though Alabama's
on the road in Doe Campbell.
Speaker 4 (31:37):
That's what I'm talking about right there, Clin.
Speaker 6 (31:46):
All right, last my fighting Irish headed to South Florida
to take on the Miami Hurricanes. Now, this has not
been a place where Notre Dame has built to one historically,
and typically I would make a play on the spread
in this game, However, I think it's gonna be a
more of a low scoring affair.
Speaker 7 (32:04):
So I love the under in this one. Again, Jonas,
I've got a forty nine and a half? What do
you have it at?
Speaker 4 (32:09):
That's correct, sir one.
Speaker 7 (32:12):
Finally, finally, I like the under of this game. Here's why.
Speaker 6 (32:17):
Marcus Freeman has a trend of playing more of this,
you know, kind of short in the game, run the
football tighter early games throughout his tenure so far as
head coach. Notre Dame is led by its defense. A
lot of guys coming back from last year. The only
question there Chris ash taking over as defensive coordinator. What changes,
if any, does that have on this team? But the
(32:39):
Notre Dame defense will keep this a low scoring affair,
and the strength of Notre Dame's offense is obviously.
Speaker 4 (32:44):
Their ability to run the football.
Speaker 6 (32:45):
When you have Jeremiah Love, Jadarium Price and Yes Williams
two in the backfield, you've got a stable of backs
now that are very capable too of churning up some
yards but turning up that clock. So from Notre Dame standpoint,
they're not gonna put too much on cj.
Speaker 7 (32:58):
Cars shoulders.
Speaker 6 (32:59):
He's gonna have to step up at times, But to me,
it's gonna be a defensive battle, a battle for the
line of scrimmage in the running game. On the other side,
Miami was atrocious last year on defense. They were able
to answer that by way of the transfer portal. They
got five new starters on defense, all transfer portal players.
Speaker 7 (33:16):
There's a number of new starters too.
Speaker 6 (33:19):
On Miami's offense that are also transfer portal players, most
importantly Carson Back their quarterback, didn't have a great season
last year at Georgia. You can shock it up for
whatever you want to, but I'll be curious to see
how he comes along versus this Notre Dame defense. Their
first game the season, first time out there, playing with
a lot of guys he's throwing too, there could be
(33:40):
some inconsistencies and especially if he gets pressure.
Speaker 4 (33:43):
We saw that last year really struggled under that.
Speaker 7 (33:45):
So this, to me is one of those.
Speaker 6 (33:47):
Grinded out defensive battles, low scoring affairs played the under
a forty nine and a.
Speaker 8 (33:53):
Half Quinn's wins, you'll be a win.
Speaker 4 (33:58):
By the way, I am showing Notre Dame minus two
and a half in that game, I thought you were
going to lean more towards Notre Dame just based on
Marcus Freeman's track record of success at that stadium. I
thought you were going to, uh, you know, kind of.
I know you're trying to point out how they beat
Penn State. I'm looking for trends here. I'm trying to
(34:19):
identify trends. So I was I was simply, you know,
I think he's want to know there at that stadium. Yeah,
so there's a there we go.
Speaker 6 (34:30):
Fade me all you want, but don't sleep on me.
And by the way, good sleep starts with a good mattress.
I trusted Matperts to find my perfect mattress from their
premium selection for the great sleep you Deserve. Visit Mattress
firm during the best sale of the year at they

Speaker 4 (34:44):
What I'm talking about by the firm I have. I've
written these down because you know, last year we ran
into a couple of issues with whether or not Lead
documented them correctly. So just letting you know know im.
Speaker 7 (34:56):
I've got on the Google doctor. Yeah, trust me.
Speaker 4 (34:59):
Yeah, Yes, there's been been some things, Yes, happened in
the past. Quen's wins, I leave to Brady.
Speaker 7 (35:05):
Yeah, that's it's your.
Speaker 1 (35:06):
Baby, Leave everything up to everybody. Hell are you talking.
Speaker 7 (35:12):
About the drinking.
Speaker 1 (35:15):
Except that? Oh dang.
Speaker 4 (35:21):

They're calling Bill Belichick this nowadays. Damn straight.
Speaker 1 (35:53):
Bill Belichick is the rocket Man.
Speaker 7 (35:55):
Oh yeah, what he's.

and you can find a beginner class near you at
USA Fencing dot org, slash try Fencing. That's USA Fencing
dot org slash try Fencing. Dion Sanders, who enters his
(36:42):
first year without his sons on the roster coaching at Colorado.
There he spoke about some traditions that he's noticed, maybe
some surprises since being the head coach there in Boulder,
and it went like this.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
Is there anything about falsehome, about this stadium that surprised
that you did.
Speaker 10 (37:00):
This, this mill of weed in the second quarter, Surprised
that they got me like every game. I'm like, dang,
Like it seems like it's like a light up quarter, you.
Speaker 1 (37:08):
Know what I'm saying. So is this the quarter that
you'll chose?
Speaker 10 (37:11):
Like I'm saying, it's a TV timeout that never fails
in I'm like, Wow, what's going on?
Speaker 1 (37:16):
Because you know, I've never.
Speaker 10 (37:17):
Been out there in my life, So that's that's kind.
Speaker 8 (37:20):
Of new to me.
Speaker 4 (37:21):
First off, Dean's never smoked weed. Good for him. Welcome
to the club man.
Speaker 1 (37:25):
They said, never smoke or drink. He's never done anything neither. Wow,
good for him, and doesn't doesn't look at adult entertainment
or use it.
Speaker 4 (37:36):
No chance, you're the same way.
Speaker 1 (37:38):
And maybe I shouldn't know all of this, but I
mean I do pay attention to like stuff.
Speaker 7 (37:42):
You're the same way.
Speaker 1 (37:44):
I am the total opposite. Yeah, I am a degenerate
in all categories. I am America's cham I'm the people's champ.
I don't I'm not look I admil your guys like
Dion because they give you something to look up to. Me.
I walk amongst you. Are you struggling with that that bottle?
(38:06):
Me too? You lighting up that split me too?
Speaker 4 (38:14):
And in your pocket too long?
Speaker 1 (38:15):
Me too? Me too.
Speaker 5 (38:17):
A part of that new me too movement is uh,
Brady struggling with your weight? Me too, Brady.
Speaker 4 (38:24):
When you guys are on on set there, can you
smell the can you can you catch the weed drift
from the from the crowd there? Colorado game, No no jonas.
Speaker 6 (38:34):
It doesn't ever smell like a skunk in some of
the venues, we kidd I can't ever can never smell that?
Speaker 4 (38:39):
Interesting? How do you guys managed to you know, not
bring that up on the air at some point, like
Rob Stone's not looking around, going all right, who's got what?
Speaker 7 (38:49):
Like I think we probably have at some point.
Speaker 6 (38:51):
I mean there's a couple of Colorado games to stick out,
a couple of Colorado games where it was like, all right,
well we are here and all about it. Beautiful rocky mountains.
That's some heavy weed.
Speaker 4 (39:06):
By the way, uh Deon Sanders and Nick saban were
speaking with the AP. They were unveiling this new athlet commercial.
They're saying they've got this idea. They say players should
get paid for making the college football playoffs and they
should make more for their team winning. So that's their
their concept. Nick Saban co signed.
Speaker 1 (39:28):
On that keep you Playing right, you ain't gonna opt
out in nothing.
Speaker 4 (39:32):
Who's going to opt out if they get to you know,
like the semi finals, you know, if they're not kidding.
Speaker 1 (39:38):
You just never know. You just never know. Man. It
takes one one influential person in that that kid's life
to say, hey, don't risk it, like you've done enough,
Like let's get ready for the draft, like you just bro,
you just never know. I don't know. You just never know.
(39:59):
People opt out, you know, or they or they got
a transfer, like they're they're thinking about transfer, and then
do you take the money that you may make, or
do you opt out of playing because you're going to
hit the portal, like just don't. I don't know, man,
There's there's gotta be reasons. There's reasons.
Speaker 4 (40:18):
I can't. I can't imagine anybody's opting out if they're
not getting paid at that point. Like I can understand
a random bowl game, you know, like you're you're playing
in the you know, the seven to eleven Bowl, and
it's like, dude, I got an NFL career to look after.
I'm gonna opt out here or I just can't imagine, Hey,
I'm not getting you know, a cut of the check here,
I'm not going to participate in this National Championship game.
(40:39):
Like it just doesn't seem like is their idea is,
let's make it like the playoff model, where you're getting
playoff game checks, but the playoff game checks in the
NFL are minor compared to regular season tracks. Correct, Yeah,
compared to your actual contract.
Speaker 7 (40:53):
Yeah, so that's why.
Speaker 6 (40:53):
I mean, look, I'm sure they've loved a little bit
of a bump, but even the NFL players don't make
more just because they go to the super Bowl, but
just because they go into playoffs.
Speaker 1 (41:03):
So h well, listen, we do have gonna get paid
for a playoff games.
Speaker 4 (41:08):
Who's that?
Speaker 1 (41:09):
Who's that?
Speaker 8 (41:09):
Knock damn fading
