We had a little bit of revenge in the NFL yesterday.
Yeah we did, just a tab little statement being.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
Little sweet little Sweeten three.
Speaker 6 (01:59):
All right, what a game Aaron Rodgers is back rolls
back into MetLife Stadium and forget about the after four
plays injury? How about four touchdowns? Rogers gets it done.
The Steelers go in pick up a big win, and
(02:20):
here he was afterwards talking about what the win meant
for him in his career.
Speaker 7 (02:27):
He spoke about the meeting with Alan Glenn on McAfee
a few months ago. Beating him is the significance in ninsense,
he basically told you to your face.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
That he didn't think you were right for that team.
Speaker 7 (02:39):
Yes, that's what he didn't, So there are significance in
beating him for you. I was happy to beat everybody
associated with the Jets. It was nice to win, especially,
you know, hearing some of the cat calls out there.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
And the Bluebirds. You know, I don't. I'm not sensitive
about that. I expected that, you know, I kind of
like that.
Speaker 7 (02:59):
But there were probably people in the organization I didn't
think I could play anymore. So it was nice to
remind those people that I still can.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Come on, var come on, I mean, it's the Steelers,
So I'm happy. I'm happy it worked out. God it
worked out in the first first week of the season.
I'm just not convinced.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
I'm not.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
There was very little defense that was played in that game.
If I'm either one of those teams, more so to Steelers,
because I mean, i'd say the Jets, they look like
a different team. They look like a pretty good team,
different than what they have been.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
But I just don't. I'm not convinced.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
If I'm the Steelers, I'm concerned about what that defense
looks like. And for some strange reason, the New York Jets,
with all that talent that they have, they just don't
really play up to the level or the potential of
the type of talent they have.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
So to me, I listen, I don't.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
I don't want to come off as as someone who
is down on them. I'm just not a believer in
it yet. And I said, I was just in Pittsburgh.
I spent a little time in Pittsburgh. People seem to
be very high on the team. The reports, the reports
(04:24):
from Mike Tomlin, the reports from the local beat reporters,
some people I know that are in the media that
are local, they are they they're calling this all in year.
I just didn't. I didn't see it that way the
way the off season played out. But again, it's Week one.
They they put up a lot. I rather them have
(04:46):
the performance they did versus it being different. I'd rather
them have had an offensive explosion and need to work
on the defense. I feel more confident in them shoring
up what they have to do and what's going on
with their defense versus their offense. So to see him
ball out there, to see him go out there and
deal and put four touchdowns up there and fight through to.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
Get them the victory, I mean good.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
I'm a Steelers fan, so I'm gonna be a hater
because that's what we do with Steelers fans. But ultimately,
I mean, they got to win, and they got it
in a hostile environment, and they got it in week one,
and it's an AFC opponent.
Speaker 5 (05:26):
So it's good. It's a good, good victory for him.
I thought it looked great, you know. I thought this
was like kind of a you know, he downplayed it
a bit.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
You know.
Speaker 5 (05:34):
I'm sure there's so many things in his mind that
are going on where he wanted this one bad. And
so I'm always rooting for players when that's the case.
You know, if you feel like you've been wrong by organization,
you're the opportunity to go back and stick it right
in their face. You know, for the Jets fans and
those that are booing and all that stuff. It's like
he didn't choose to leave, Like do we all forget
(05:58):
that he gets hurt after four plays his first year there.
He chose to come to you guys, and then the
second year, your ownership decides to fire the coach prematurely
and it's using Madden ratings to help build a roster,
Like you want to boo him. He came to your
(06:19):
new head coach, Aaron Glenn, and your new head coach
told him they didn't want him, and you're booing him.
How does that make any sense? I mean, I get it,
he's on the other team now. There wasn't a choice.
He wanted to come back. He flew across the country
on his own dime to meet with Aaron Glenn for
what five minutes. So if you want to boo him, fine,
(06:43):
but you gotta lay in this bed that you've made
for yourself being a Jets fan, so you can try
to look at some of the takeaways and sit there
and say, well, you know, the offense looked okay, we
got some talents him, Yeah, you do, but it's gonna
fall apart at some point, Oh damn, because this is
this is a bad organize and what I chocked that
performance up to and give credit to Justin Fields and
(07:05):
all that, but there's a lot of firsts with this
Jets team. New quarterback in that spot, with that talent,
we didn't know what was going to look like. If
you're Pittsburgh, you know, different play caller too, trying to
get to understanding what they're trying to do. So all
those things I think to me amounted up to why
Pittsburgh I think struggled a little bit defensively. But I'm
not concerned about them defensively moving forward. They're still one
of the better defensive teams they'll get this corrected, They'll
(07:28):
get this turned right back around. I think, if anything,
for Steelers fans, you should be excited. You've got a
passing game where you have I don't know when the
last time was you saw a game like that where
your quarterback threw for four touchdown passes, had complete command
of the offense, and it just looked how it's supposed
to look. I mean, you probably have to go back
to Ben Roethlisberger and maybe a few years back in
(07:50):
his time there's a Steelers quarterback where you felt this
confident about the offense. So I'm excited for Aaron Rodgers.
I'm excited for the Steelers, even though I grew up
liking the Steelers, but I am. I am a Rogers fan,
so I'm excited for him. And that was a big moment.
I don't think his emotions, you know, really told the
true story his words to some degree, but not how
(08:11):
much that meant to him.
Speaker 6 (08:12):
I mean, that guy across the field told him, no,
we're good here, see you, Yeah, we're all good here.
We're gonna go in another direction. He gets his opportunity
and he goes out there and.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
Does what he's bowling up early too, wasn't they.
Speaker 6 (08:25):
And then and then uh, you know, to see the
way the game was iced with Jalen Ramsey making that
hit and knocking the ball out Boswell, you know, hitting
that sixty yarder, which and look, Justin Fields did look good.
But the story of that game was Rogers going back
to MetLife and playing the way he did.
Speaker 4 (08:42):
And he was fantastic. Man.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
I think that's the story for you and maybe the
story for Q. I still think to the rest of
the fielders, well, he played well. I think that it
was New York versus it was New York versus Pittsburgh,
Pittsburgh versus New York.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
He's a quarterback.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
I don't think that it was a one sided deal.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
I think that the idea that they swapped out quarterbacks
was was the storyline. I think that was the storyline,
and it lived up to what it was. Justin Fields
lived up to what the game presented as well.
Speaker 3 (09:17):
He could have.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
He could have easily came out there and not played well,
but he did he did. I mean, he didn't throw
for as many touchdowns, but they were in that game.
And keep in mind, if they don't go for two
points two times, that game is tied, So it's not
like it was like this big discrepancy and that they
came in and they dominated the New York Jets.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
Game one or not. Again, I think week one is
week one the same.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
The same things we could say about what can be
done and what can be determined and figured out for
one could be the same that you could say for
the other. Now where I will say, where I will
agree is again, this is the Jets, and I don't
know if if yet I'm going to give it a
fair goal because I'm looking at my my alum my
alma mater team, and they seem to have have changed
(10:07):
the culture. There seems to have been a culture shift.
This seems to be a team that really has the
opportunity to be a good team. I would have said
that that's impossible because talent will never outplay dysfunction.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
Now, if Woody is honoring the.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
Fact that Aaron Glenn, which it did appear that this
is a different type of a feel in terms of
the personality of that team. They came out there and
they looked like a Detroit team. They did they they
pounded the ball, you know, justin fields had a good
feel for when to hand the ball off and when
(10:47):
to run the ball. He made some good plays, made
some good throws. I did not come away from the
game thinking that the New York Jets are a team
that's going to like go downhill from here.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
It looked as though they have a chance to be.
Speaker 5 (11:03):
One concern I think you have to have if you
are a Jets fan and you're optimistic, is the amount
of carriers that Field is going to get throughout the year.
You know, rushing the ball twelve times per game, it's
at that's hard. That's a lot of wear and tear
on your quarterback. And if that's what you feel like
you need to do for him to be effective, so
be it. You know, justin Field's a big, you know,
strong athletic kid so or young man, so you know
(11:25):
he's going to have every opportunity to be able to
do that. But you know, eventually that injury but comes.
I do want to go back to something in regards
to the debut because it is somewhat historic. I don't
believe we've ever seen another quarterback in his first game
with that team to open a season do what Rogers
did throw for two hundred and forty yards, four touchdowns
with zero receptions. I believe that kind of stands alone. Now,
(11:48):
we can try to check this somewhere, but I don't
think we've ever.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
Had a well, if you're saying it so.
Speaker 5 (11:54):
Well, I've checked some sources. But you know you got
to you got to double double check and triple check that.
It's good to set yourself down. That always so somebody.
It always helps. Well, that's what you're your professional, that's
what you do. It helps to have the lead to lap. Really,
what I'm trying to get to is it helps to
have lead to lap. You can double check this and
then make it make sure it has the stamp of approval.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
Let me tell you he can discount double chick, Brady.
That's what he came up with, what you came up with.
I do not believe Lee is going to if you're
placing your hat on that that you're going to be
good if he.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
Double checks it. Good luck with that.
Speaker 4 (12:33):
You know, standard show.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
That is very true, You know very I do.
Speaker 6 (12:38):
Have you mentioned a little bit of history when it
comes to the Steelers and we're talking about you know,
Steeler quarterback play and we're talking about you know, Aaron
Rodgers coming out there and throwing four touchdowns. Yeah, you
mentioned it seems like it's been a while since we've seen.
Speaker 4 (12:54):
Something like that. The Steelers quarterback. You've got to go
all the way back the year Fills twenty twenty.
Speaker 6 (13:05):
Come on, when people were driving around with n ninety
five's on six feet of social distancing one play toilet
paper and only one roll at a time, and having
to wipe down their groceries when they brought them into
the house.
Speaker 4 (13:23):
Yes, you gotta go all the way back.
Speaker 6 (13:25):
Then, for the last time a Steelers quarterback threw four
touchdowns in a game, and that was the aforementioned Ben Roethlisberger.
So first time in five years we've seen this.
Speaker 3 (13:38):
Come on, boss, say this is the same song for
ground Holiday.
Speaker 5 (13:43):
Yeah, fun, it makes it makes sense, Bucks, Tony.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
Phil Right, Yeah, but that's not Western Pennsylvania.
Speaker 5 (13:50):
It's Pennsylvania, dude, It's.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
It's not Ohio.
Speaker 5 (13:58):
Is all to say, we couldn't find anything else, Okay,
we tried the stealing us.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
You gotta play you gotta play the the other Pittsburgh
Steelers song.
Speaker 3 (14:09):
No, not the.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
Yeah, you gotta play here we Go Taylor, you gotta
play the here.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
We Go song?
Speaker 6 (14:19):
Hey, Lee, you got an update on this uh factoid
that I found?
Speaker 8 (14:24):
Yeah, Brady is correct that there hasn't been really an
NFL quarterback debuting with a new team that has thrown
for four touchdowns or had the similar out look.
Speaker 4 (14:32):
The best I can find was Will Levis's.
Speaker 8 (14:34):
Debut in the NFL, where he threw four touchdowns as
a Titan, and uh, Fernando Mendoza, an Indiana quarterback, through
for four touchdowns against he was in West saw State
and his debut for the Hoosiers back in twenty Uh,
well this this year, Well.
Speaker 5 (14:48):
That wasn't his debut though he played Old Dominion last weekly.
This is why you have to fact check those fact checks, and.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
That's why you don't have Lee come on and do it.
Speaker 5 (14:57):
This is this is another thing. Is like that's why
you can't That's why you can't trust Ai because Lee
probably went to Grock and like it's just it's not
there yet, Like like I I don't even need to
look at anything. I can definitively tell you. Fernando Mendoza,
who they got off to a slow star first Old
Dominion in that game came out the rough start, did
not have that great of it. He actually didn't even
(15:17):
have a touchdown pass in his debut. He had a
rushing touchdown.
Speaker 3 (15:21):
That's it?
Speaker 4 (15:23):
How about that?
Speaker 9 (15:24):
And also Will Levis how many yards that game? I
don't have that right now, like like where here's.
Speaker 5 (15:36):
I want to know Lee's where where'd that stat go?
You looked it up in this shut the page down?
Speaker 4 (15:42):
Grock didn't have that information, Brady.
Speaker 8 (15:44):
That's why I got you, buddy.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
Oh see he's firing back today.
Speaker 5 (15:52):
It's good.
Speaker 1 (15:53):
This could be of how we were getting from heroing out.
Just no, I won't be out of town forever, lead,
I just know that. So all that fire out.
Speaker 8 (16:06):
Thirty eight yards, four touchdowns, one hundred and thirty point
five passer rating against the Felts.
Speaker 5 (16:12):
Not not quite as many yards as Rogers, but pretty
damn close.
Speaker 6 (16:16):
So I just want to know what's it gonna take
to get LeVar back in on the Steelers train, Like,
what's it gonna take?
Speaker 5 (16:21):
And that was what we ate.
Speaker 1 (16:22):
It's gonna take a little time, man, It's gonna take
a little time. I just, you know, cautious optimism, Like
I was very very optimistic about the way the offense played.
DK showed some some real like he he showed why
they brought him there, Like, he made some good plays.
I like to play calling, you know, some creative deals.
(16:44):
Who would ever thought who was the first guy that
scored the touchdown? Or was number seventeen or number fifteen whatever.
I forget his name, I don't know his name, but
the the planic was that what I felt like it
was a different name than that was that as name.
Speaker 6 (17:00):
Ben Scarannick, maybe Scronic, camroonck I calm Rade.
Speaker 5 (17:06):
Well he went to Notre Dame for a year.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
So okay, well yeah, it sounded that sounded more more
like his name. Anyway, Listen, there were a lot of
There was a lot of positives to take away from
what that offense did. There just wasn't very many positives
to take away from the defense. I mean, Jalen Jalen
made the big play at the end of the game.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
Big play. That was a big, big play.
Speaker 5 (17:29):
Huge.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
It's interesting because during that same drive logs, the one
call before before he got sacked, before fields got sacked,
he could have ran for at least fifteen to twenty
yards on that play and he didn't see he I
think he saw it late. And then he I think
he predetermined that he was going to want to try
(17:52):
to slip through that same opening and try to run
it again, and it led to him he was caught
in his.
Speaker 3 (17:59):
Thigh got sacked. I just feel like.
Speaker 1 (18:02):
I need more time. I need more time because I
don't want to trust them and get hurt. I don't
want to get hurt by I don't want to get
hurt by them.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
I don't. I don't.
Speaker 1 (18:12):
I don't want to feel false, false enthusiasm and false
hope for what the future could hold for my Pittsburgh.
Speaker 5 (18:21):
Yeah, yeah, LeVar, I do think you're missing the main
point of all this is outside of the pills, everyone
in the a f C East lost, And I think
if you're if you're, I mean, we're not playing horseshoes
and grenades. If we were, I would say the Jets
looked like the second best team. If we were the
(18:42):
second best team in the FC East. The Dolphins looked
the worst Dolphins Dolphins look like.
Speaker 3 (18:48):
And then the Patriots.
Speaker 5 (18:49):
The Patriots looked kind of bad too, like not very
much better than the Dolphins. So if you if you're
if you're worried about your bet in regards to where
the Patriots finished now, I know it ultimately doesn't matter.
They are finishing last, but you've got them finishing last.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
They probably have a boned man they boned.
Speaker 5 (19:10):
Yeah, well, but the Jets are helping you out, so
you might win that bet because the Patriots look pretty duchy.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
Yeah that bad, real rebel cheeks, you know that bad? Yeah,
like take a shower after it.
Speaker 6 (19:24):
Well, they should focus on their football team stuff, trying
to recruit North Carolina players, you know, tang Yeah, get
your ax.
Speaker 5 (19:32):
On the other All right, if we're going to venture there,
do we want to talk about this?
Speaker 1 (19:35):
Well?
Speaker 4 (19:36):
Lee has an update, by the way, he Alway does.
Oh yeah, yes, what is so?
Speaker 3 (19:40):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (19:40):
Even a better stat here if we're actually talking about
debuts with a new team. Fran Tarkenton in sixty one
threw for four touchdowns and ran for one what September seventeenth,
nineteen sixty one, and Marcus Mariota threw for four touchdowns
in his NFL debut as well.
Speaker 1 (19:54):
Hello, okay, but we're not that's not what a new team. Yeah,
we're saying with a new team.
Speaker 8 (19:59):
I know, I'm just saying you were right, that it
was you were right, Brady, But I did find the
closest thing that was where the Yeah.
Speaker 5 (20:06):
Well you already listened Will Levis, but that was a
week eight of that series.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
That was we get correct. Yeah, so you're.
Speaker 5 (20:11):
Saying Marcus Murray in his first game for that team?
Or is that what week was that?
Speaker 4 (20:16):
Uh ninth?
Speaker 8 (20:16):
It was September thirteenth, Week one versus Tampa Bay and
fran Tarkinson came off the bench in September seventeenth, so
that might have been week.
Speaker 5 (20:23):
Two or it could have been week one.
Speaker 4 (20:25):
And yeah, three for four, ran for one and man,
the Dolphins.
Speaker 5 (20:34):
Rough boy Tyreek Hill looks already frustrated.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
Yeah, yeah, I mean how long does he last right
throughout that?
Speaker 3 (20:42):
And last? How long does he last? Mike McDaniel that, oh,
the Wills is off.
Speaker 1 (20:52):
If you're going to ride it to the Wills fall off,
The Wills.
Speaker 3 (20:56):
Might be off in week one. Yeah, they might be off.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
And we they were atrocious in that case.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
I mean again, you made it, and then you make
a team like the Colts look like they looked and
the dude was doing the celebration that the guy there's
this this social media influencer that that does these dances
and one of his dances is he gets on his
back and he starts like doing this weird movement and
(21:26):
he'll do it all the way into a grocery store
and then pop up and then go walk like that
never happened, right, And this dude did that as his
like his celebration when he when he got an interception
in the game. But I just you know, I look
at this team and it's like, should we think that
the Colts, Because the Colts have potentially been a team
(21:47):
that should be better than what they are.
Speaker 3 (21:48):
They should be good.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
Like last year, I thought they would be much better
than what they were, especially defensively speaking. But in my mind,
when I saw the way they played and looked at
the way the game went, can you say that, Okay,
maybe this Colts team has a chance to be really good.
And that's why the quarterbacks situation is so, you know,
(22:14):
it's so critical to their season that they get the
right guy in there. And maybe that's why they didn't
start out with Anthony Richardson because they felt like, look,
we got a defense that can carry us. We don't
need an offense that is going to hurt us. And
if you're going to be a player that could possibly
potentially hurt us.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
We don't need that right now.
Speaker 1 (22:35):
We need somebody who's going to manage the game and
do what they need to do in a way where,
you know, we have a chance to win the game
at the end of games. I felt like that was
the you know, that was the recipe in this game
for the Colts. And I had to wonder to myself,
is this a good team or is this a good
Is this a team that beat up on a very
(22:56):
very bad team. Yeah, I didn't know which one to
really settle in on that one.
Speaker 6 (23:02):
That one you just said, like, Miami looks awful. They
made New Orleans look like a wild card team there.
They looked like the worst team in the league yesterday.
Speaker 4 (23:13):
And I mean.
Speaker 3 (23:17):
That's what That's what O gage is, Like, you hit
twenty one, I'm over.
Speaker 6 (23:22):
I mean there's one of the yeah, like Mercy ruled,
Like there's one of those like that was you know,
the stories in the off season, they were rumblings said, oh,
you know, Mike McDaniel lost the locker room. The veterans
were tired of it, you know, the Tua Tyreek Hill stuff.
It just seems like there's no real answers there.
Speaker 4 (23:42):
And I don't.
Speaker 3 (23:43):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (23:44):
Man like Daniel Jones, I think the stat was he
they scored on every drive. I think they're like seven
for seven on scoring drives. So it's not even just offensively.
They looked bad defensively, they got chewed up and spit out.
And if it just feels like this one's going to
go sideways in a hurry and so.
Speaker 5 (24:04):
Well, and that's the that's the hard part, I think.
And maybe tell me if I'm wrong. But when you're
in a place like Miami, where there's already a ton
of distractions and and other things to do, I feel
like it tends to be a little bit more of
a slippery slope once you start that slide.
Speaker 3 (24:22):
Do you get no?
Speaker 5 (24:22):
In all seriousness, like, do you guys agree with that?
Because I just I do feel like, you know, one
of the players I don't know who was talking postgame
from Green Bay, Detroit, but they're imagining me. They literally said,
hey man, there's nothing else to do up here. We
just lock in like we're ready to go. And it's
like that's not the case with the Dolphins. There's a
bunch of other things to do, and there's other places
like that as well. But I just I look at
(24:44):
it and I say, like, I wonder how much when
things don't go right, how quickly guys look to other
avenues to get away from it, which is much easier
to do in Miami than somewhere else.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
Never saying somebody climb back up a slippery slope once
slipping down it.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
Never seen it. I don't know. Maybe Crock knows, but
I've known.
Speaker 6 (25:05):
I mean, so basically guys are looking around, going all right,
I can go down to Ocean Ave, or I can
stay back and you know, catch catch on the jugs
machine for a little bit.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
It ain't ocean the Tutsis and you know King of
Diamonds KOD stuff like that.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
You know the Ocean Ave. That's tourism.
Speaker 5 (25:31):
Yeah rr I p k O d ain't there anymore?
Speaker 1 (25:35):
Whatever? Yeah, there's something there. I know, Tutsis is there.
I mean I heard, I heard.
Speaker 4 (25:42):
I heard that the nfl p E does their meetings.
Speaker 3 (25:45):
Is that right?
Speaker 5 (25:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (25:45):
That is?
Speaker 4 (25:46):
Did you know where they should go?
Speaker 6 (25:48):
It's the home depot because uh, with support from the
Home Depot, it's about time for pros to source the
whole job with one partner. Ask about all they can
do for you at the Pro Desk, the home depot
Pro It's about time, all right, it's coming up next here.
We had multiple boots on multiple grounds in the world
(26:08):
of football this weekend. We'll get the inside information right
here on FSR.
Speaker 2 (26:13):

talent on it.

Speaker 10 (27:11):
Here we go, Stealers, Here we go. Pittsburgh's going, Dad,
I said, bell, here we go, bom boom bump, here
we go, Stealers, here we go. Yeah, bom man bum,
(27:39):
here we go.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
We lost that Super Bowl. By the way, here we go, Stealers.
That was when we lost to the Dallas Cowboys. Never
forget it. I'll never forget it in Arizona. Yeah, that's
the more updated one. Well, the first original one was
(28:00):
for the Dallas game. I guess they updated it when
Roethlisberger came. Yeah, yeah, but I remember when it dropped
and we were going to everybody was singing the song.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
Everybody was singing it.
Speaker 1 (28:16):
We thought we was going to get that Super Bowl
and we lost to Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 4 (28:21):
Oh sor right, Yeah, I wouldn't go. I wouldn't worry
about the Cowboys being in a super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
Anytime show I would tend to agree with that.
Speaker 6 (28:31):
It is two pros and a cup of Joe here
on Fox Sports Radio. We are going to have another
edition of the fsr IR coming up here in about
twelve minutes from now. By the way, if you ever
wanted to try an Olympic or a Paralympic sport. Why
don't you try fencing. It's fast, it's safe, it's easy
to start. Find a beginner class near you at USA
Fencing dot org slash try Fencing. That's USA Fencing dot
(28:51):
org slash try Fencing. So big noon kickoff was in ams.
Was that the first time you guys had been there?
Because that cross that crowd was wild.
Speaker 5 (29:03):
Yeah, for the first time. The crowd was wild, the
fans everyone there. I mean, it's obviously a huge deal
in the state of Indiana, and it truly is a
state divided. But everyone was super nice and very hospitable.
But what a cool place, great campus, the stadium, atmosphere
was incredible. Outside the stadium was incredible and and and
the game lived up to it. I mean, those two teams, man,
(29:24):
they know each other so well. You know, Kirk Farrence,
he's one win away, by the way, from surpassing Woody
Hayes is the all time big ten winnings coach. Which
you know when you talk to Coach Meyer, he's he's like,
this will never be beaten again. And I don't think he's
wrong because you just don't see coaches hanging around in
one place that long, so most in football in the
(29:46):
Big ten.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
Yeah, oh yeah, because because Joe got most is as
an independent, That's right, Okay, never mind, all right, Yeah
it was here in four second.
Speaker 3 (29:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (29:58):
Yeah, it would be two hundred and six wins when
it when I happens for Kirk Farns. But wow, pretty remarkable.
And obviously, you know, Matt Campbell with this team, you know,
Rock Obeckt always gives them a chance. The defense stepped
up at times, but they've they've got a shot, you know,
to to go win the Big twelve. They got to
have someone emerge on the outside as a big playmaker.
But it was, it was. It was a lot of fun,
(30:18):
just a lot of fun. Weekend first time barstools with us.
They did their show befour hours, so we got to
see some of those guys and you know, kind of
chopping up a little bit. But yeah, it was an awesome,
awesome time. I uh, we'll save Quinn's wins for for
for Friday. How that he was terrible, absolutely terrible. I mean,
if you really want to get into it, you're not
(30:39):
gonna have time to talk, so I can just go
ahead and just go ahead and get into it, right, now,
I mean, it would help if SMU could figure out
how to hold a two touchdown lead. For the love
of God, I mean, what are we talking about here.
You're up two touchdowns the fourth quarter. You can't figure
out how to close out a game? Come on, rhtt
my gosh. And then Duke just continually giving away the game.
(31:00):
Botched muff punt here, botch punt there, a couple of fumbles.
I mean that that game against Illinois was not as
bad as the score would have indicated. And you know, Michigan,
look you got a true freshman quarterback. I get it,
I get it. But can we let the kid throw
the football? Can we let the kid use the howitzer
of an arm that he has? You know, a big
(31:22):
win for bread Venables. John Mattier is a stud. Not
sure they can run them and that much throughout the
course of the season. He's gonna survive. But still great
win for Oklahoma. But you've got to flip in Ferrari
in the garage that you don't want to drive, you
don't want to take out just every once in a while,
you know, just to show you what kind of speed
what it's got. We're just gonna go ahead and just
run the football in between the tackles the entire game.
(31:44):
He's bigger than I thought. He's huge. He's dude, he's
like NFL ready now. As far as all the tools
and intangibles, it's just about experience and look, he missed
some throws and you're gonna have that. He's again, a
true freshman. I can't emphasize enough because it very rarely happens.
And I was in that position where you were thrust
into starting playing and you just basically got there on campus.
(32:06):
I mean, he at least enrolled in January, so it's
a little different, but it's it's night and day different
from being a red shirt freshman, where you have a
year to get like life underneath your belt and get
used to going to classes and know the system, know
the offense, know your teammates. It's entirely different. So really
disappointed with Michigan's play calling. Chip Lindsay is their play caller.
(32:27):
He's supposed to be a guy who's, you know, gonna
bring a lot of more offensive firepower, but it felt
like just the same old, you know, Michigan offense we've
seen in years past, where they just don't want to
involve the forward pass and the end to anything they do.
I'm trying to think what the other game was that
I had picked, but it was awful over four thought
we were trunding in the right direction. I'm gonna have to
(32:49):
go back and just reevaluate everything.
Speaker 3 (32:52):
I think.
Speaker 5 (32:52):
I'm gonna have to stop talking to Lee. I think
Lee's the mush. That's what I have to start doing now.
Speaker 4 (32:57):
And you're fine.
Speaker 6 (32:58):
Try as somebody who's in the midst of potentially going
winless in Knox Locks.
Speaker 4 (33:02):
Don't worry about you.
Speaker 3 (33:03):
Bounce back.
Speaker 5 (33:04):
It's you. Maybe you're the problem.
Speaker 6 (33:07):
It's just listen. Sometimes you have a rough week. It's
difficult out there.
Speaker 5 (33:13):
I get that. I get that, I really do.
Speaker 3 (33:15):
Lead.
Speaker 5 (33:15):
No one cares about your week.
Speaker 3 (33:17):
Two weeks in a row, isn't it for me?
Speaker 5 (33:19):
No?
Speaker 3 (33:20):
Yeah, no, I thought you had a bad week last week,
didn't you? Five?
Speaker 5 (33:24):
Five on a bad week? Oh and four? That's a
bad week. That's a bad one.
Speaker 3 (33:28):
That's a that's a that's a really bad week.
Speaker 5 (33:33):
I know, I know we got to bounce back. I'll
just say this, just fade me. Just just bet against
me at this point, because apparently did you would have
went four. No, so maybe that's the strategy. Now, just
don't listen to anything I said. Was the exact opposite. Well,
mister Kentucky was the other one, which I got into
such I don't have time for this. So Kentucky was
(33:56):
down seven in the fourth quarter, and I'm on a
text chain with a bunch of Kentucky fans and they're like, oh,
I don't understand what we nor kukuatave field goal here.
It was like, well, dude, because then you still need
a touchdown and they're like, but yeah, but but after
the fact, you know, if we would have just kept
kicking field goals, we would have won. And it's like, well, yeah,
but that's not how decisions are made. Like when you
(34:19):
look at how these coaches have to make a decision
in that moment, they don't know if Old Miss is
going to drive back down the other way and score
a touchdown, kick a field goal, or what they're going
to do. So they have to deal with the circumstance
and the situation they have right then and there. And
so kicking a field goal in the fourth quarter with
I don't know what six seven minutes whatever it was left,
you can you don't know how many more possessions you're
(34:40):
going to get. You don't know if old Miss is
going to go down there and score a touchdown or not.
So you have to do everything you can to try
to put yourself in a position to tie the game,
to extend the game, to eventually win it. And you know,
it just it just so happened that Ole Miss ended
up going down getting a field goal. Obviously Kentucky was
not able to convert on any fourth downs and tied up.
(35:00):
But I digress. Anyway, there was an analytical argument, like
we were getting into a lot of those with people
now who are like there used to be a crowd
that was like, no, no, no, you got to go for
it because that's what the analytics say. Now there's a
bunch of people who are like, screw the analytics, Like
we just keep kicking fuel goals. I'm like, at some
point we have to come to a consensus here. I'm
not sure when that is.
Speaker 4 (35:21):
Why did Notre Dame have a BUYE?
Speaker 5 (35:24):
Why did they have a buy I don't know. I
don't make the schedule. I mean there's other teams that
had buys.
Speaker 4 (35:30):
Second game of the year. It seems a bit early to.
Speaker 5 (35:33):
Well, they played Texas A and M next week. I mean,
they're not playing like FIU or Nevada or someone man
so quality of opponent, I don't know. Again, they're an
independent school, Jonas, So it's not like you're able to always,
you know, schedule exactly how you would within a conference.
You know, so sometimes you have to have different buys
(35:53):
in different spots for you Listen, But I mean, how
many teams are playing too? Top twenty teams out the gate?
Speaker 4 (36:00):
Penn State?
Speaker 5 (36:02):
What who are?
Speaker 1 (36:05):
Why are you throwing us in there? Hey, don't do that.
Don't do that. Don't do that, Jonas, Like, don't do that.
Speaker 5 (36:11):
I'm just saying different, pick a different school.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
To throw out there. Cam, Okay, there you go.
Speaker 5 (36:16):
So so South Carolina played two top twenty right teams
to start the SUNA.
Speaker 6 (36:19):
No, No, they didn't. Oh, they played South Carolina State
and the game didn't end until after midnight because of
the weather delays, which seemed like there was a few
of those this weekend.
Speaker 3 (36:28):
I'm just so thank you.
Speaker 5 (36:30):
I don't know, I don't know anyone else who's scheduled
the way they had, you know, but again, you you
can't depend on your conference to help you with some scheduling.

My ass, I'm clean.
Speaker 6 (38:27):
You went into Friday having not slept because you get
the flood.
Speaker 4 (38:32):
That's true.
Speaker 1 (38:32):
I did clean enough to say I'm clean, which obviously
is a red flag for you saying I got nothing
because I'm clean. It's not Jonas.
Speaker 5 (38:44):
Why don't you have anything?
Speaker 3 (38:45):
Like?
Speaker 5 (38:45):

Speaker 5 (38:51):
Oh god, you don't work that much? Man, that's you don't.
I hate to break it.
Speaker 4 (38:54):
I work every day. It is what it listened.
Speaker 3 (38:58):
Some people are about that outside. What else do you
do outside?
Speaker 5 (39:02):
You do a three? Already? Show man?
Speaker 3 (39:03):
What else do you do?
Speaker 4 (39:04):
Hang out with my kid. Okay, that's in.
Speaker 5 (39:07):
Five, like, like, let's not do this game. What did you.
Speaker 3 (39:10):
Do this weekend?
Speaker 6 (39:12):
I went to t ball with my son. We did
uh TV last night, and I'm back here this morning.
Speaker 5 (39:20):
We did TV. Yeah like you you did TV? Yeah
we maybe you watched TV.
Speaker 6 (39:26):
No, like we did the TV show last night, the
Challenge on KNBC. You have the entire day building up
to that, Jonas, Yeah, I told you I did t
ball with my kid all day.
Speaker 4 (39:40):
T ball prep TV.
Speaker 6 (39:46):
Listen. Some people are about that life, you guys like
Days Off. I'm not one of those guys. You guys

Speaker 1 (39:57):
The work he does do he does the show on Saturday,
great yeah yeah, and Day Off Arrington.
Speaker 3 (40:06):
And you said it correctly, my show.
Speaker 4 (40:08):
Day Off Arrington.
Speaker 1 (40:09):
Okay, but that doesn't mean that I'm not well you
know that that thing ain't quarterbacked.
Speaker 3 (40:14):
Well you know what I mean. Don't don't trip not me, Jones.
Speaker 5 (40:19):

priorities are family and work.
Speaker 4 (40:31):

I clock in tang.
Speaker 3 (40:37):
